Throttle body light keeps coming on. Dealer states it is PCM issue.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (Electrical System); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side active headrest had deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the two plastic clips used to hold the headrest in place were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 16,000. The VIN was not available.

Vehicle at random engage in breaks. This was the problem from day one and is now. I think someone need to be hold accountable for this automatic crap. This is goings-on problem in last 3 vehicle I had. Rustay wearing / display random images on the dashboard. NO ABS or Traction Control. This is dangerous when driving, making car unstable on some occasion. Deler refuse to sell me vehicle! Please tell me how I can get legal exemption from all electronics I do not need and endanger my live. One more Federal law requires mechanical speed limit to be 85MPH. Where can I get car that is safe to drive at rinsible price?

The front turn signals fail continuously as the turn signal units leak and fill with water causing the bulbs to short out. I called one dealer in the past and was told they were not covered by my warranty due to my vehicle's age, it's a 2014. The cost to repair is expensive as you have to access the turn signal unit through the front wheel wells to change the bulbs. The bulbs are inexpensive but the labor is costly due to the labor required. I have had to replace bulbs once every 12-18 months due to this problem. Most recent failures are detailed below, once agin both turn signals have failed.

No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. The ECT had a failure at 67676 mileage the vehicle smelled like gas and would not accelerate, The Throttle body was replaced. No recall notice for this failure is listed for this vehicle.

Driving normal then suddenly power loss, jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the ETC , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.

Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where i was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

while driving multiple warning lights on the dashboard come on. at times the vehicle will stall and I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will restart. at times the anti-theft system will wngage causing all interior components and dash lights to go out, i then have to pull over , disconnect the battery and pull the ignition fuse to reset the anti-theft system, after waiting approximately 15 minutes the vehicle will start and operate normally. while driving at times the vehicle will suddenly jerk very hard feeling like I hit a large speed bump, the warning lights on the dash will all come on briefly and the vehicle will resume driving normally. at times the vehicle stalls while idling. while driving with the accelerator pressed the fog lights will flash and the inerior fan will blow at a decreased speed, once the accelerator is released the fog lights glow normally and the interior fan will blow correctly until the vehicle slows below 18 mph at which time the interior fan will again decrease in functioning. this also affects the adapter and charging of my phone as it will not charge properly while plugged into the aux adapter. I believe there is some sort of electrical malfunction. I have replaced the vehicles ECM and crankshaft position sensor, and I am considering replacing the throttle position sensor and throttle pedal assembly. There are no active recalls listed for this vehicle at this time, although any one of these issues could potentially cause an accident with injuries especially on wet or icy road conditions, and given this vehicle is front wheel drive the temporary jolting from whatever is causing the vehicle issues could potentially cause a lose of control resulting in an accident. It should be noted that all of these issues began at approximately the same time period, and after reading through otgher complaints it would appear that there is some sort of significant electrical malfunction in these vehicles. The Electronic Throttle Body has failed 3 times in 3 years. Vehicle occasionally makes a clicking sound in the dash by steering column. Only lasts few seconds. Happens when you either use key fob to unlock door (not even in vehicle yet) or when you start vehicle. Vehicle is usually not running when this happens. Also, several times my headlights came on for no reason the past few weeks draining the battery. Keys were hanging up in house when it happened!

The "gate" light will come on and off and so will the all the lights in the vehicle and it will do it off and on. I am not paying to fix it. I never had a problem with it before and I've had this Jeep for almost a year. I was in a hit and run in August and my Jeep didn't do this until I got it back about a week afterwards.

DRIVING ON THE STRAIGHT HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ENGAGE THE BREAKS AT RANDOM. SOME TIME MAKING ME SEE SICK. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN HOME WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY "LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT" CAME ON AND MY "FISH TAIL" LIGHT CAME ON THEN MY ENGINE STALLED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT ON A BUSY ROAD. BUT I NORMALLY AM DRIVING THE INTERSTATE FOR WORK. (I WORK WITH PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, INCLUDING HAVING THEM IN MY VEHICLE.) THE CODE IS LETTING ME KNOW THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL IS BAD. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS HAVE THIS RECALL. BUT MY VIN SPECIFICALLY DOES NOT. THE HORN STOPPED WORKING ON THIS CAR ABOUT FIVE MONTHS AGO. I LOOKED FOR A FUSE OR RELAY AND DISCOVERED ON THE WEB THAT THIS WAS A COMMON CHRYSLER PROBLEM ACROSS ALL PRODUCTS. I REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH APPEARED TO BE IDENTIFIED AS MOST PROBABLE PROBLEM ON THE WEB; NOT SO. TWO MONTHS AGO I WENT TO THE DEALER AND SAID FOR $150 THEY WOULD IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE HORN ITSELF WORKED, WHICH I TESTED. I TOOK THE STEERING WHEEL APART ONCE AGAIN AND TRACED THE TWO OPERATIONAL HORN WIRES BACK TO THE THE STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED CRUISE CONTROL MODULE. FOR GRINS I WENT TO THE LOCAL SERVICE YARD AND OBTAINED SAID MODULE. REPLACED THE MODULE AND NOW THE HORN WORKS. FIRST, WHY WOULD THE HORN CIRCUIT BE SO CONVOLUTED SINCE A RELAY AND FUSE WAS THE NORM SINCE THE 1940'S. SECOND, FOR SAFETY'S SAKE, THE COMMON ITEMS NEEDED TO BE WORKING IN A CAR ARE HORN, LIGHTS, BRAKES; THESE ARE COMMON MINIMUM INSPECTION ITEMS. CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE GOOD AND REPAIR/ REPLACE CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS MAJOR FAILURE COULD HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES BECAUSE THE MINDSET OF MOST BACKYARD MECHANICS IS THAT THEY CAN FIX IT AND MANY HAVE CONCEDED FAILURE AND HAVE PUT A HORN BUTTON ON THE DASH AND WIRED TO A BETTER HORN , FUSE AND RELAY. CHECK THE WEB AND YOU CAN SEE THE MULTITUDE OF TRAFFIC ON THE CHRYSLER HORN PROBLEMS. I TRIED TO GET WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR THIS CAR WHICH COST $100 BUT I STOPPED WHEN I FOUND THAT THEY WERE NOT COMPLETE. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER LIKE PROBABLY ALL MANUFACTURERS HAVE LET THE ELECTRONICS TAKE OVER COMMON SENSE.

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN TO GO OFF. RPMS WERE RUNNING HIGHER THAN NORMAL. AFTER THE SENSOR TRIGGERED TWICE, NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN RMPS RUNNING HIGH. 5 DAYS AFTER THE INITIAL WARNING LIGHT, UPON STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND RESUMING ACCELERATION, CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, THEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, THEN TRACTION CONTROL. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR HAD TO DECELERATE OR STOP AND THE RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1. AT ONE POINT, IT STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. IF YOU WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH CONTINUOUS GAS THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR IS THE THROTTLE BODY HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,299. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THE LAST STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING OCCURRED 09/07/17. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE ROAD AFTER BEING ON THE SHOULDER, THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND AGAIN STALL OUT. AFTER 5-7 ATTEMPTS AND NEARLY BEING HIT EACH TIME I TRY TO GET ON THE MAIN ROAD, THE PATRIOT WILL FINALLY GET ME STRAIGHT HOME. JEEP WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AFTER 1.5 WEEKS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I THEN TOWED IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HE STATED THAT HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. HE REMOVED THE PLASTIC COVERINGS OVER THE ENGINE AND STATED THEY ARE JUST FOR LOOKS AND DONT NEED TO BE THERE AND CLEANED SOME WIRES NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. LATER WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP STARTED TO ACT STRANGE. RANDOMLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WOULD TURN ON, THE GUAGES WENT ALL THE WAY TO ZERO THEN BACK UP TO NORMAL THE RADIO WOULD SHUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT THIS TIME THE LIGHTS STAYED ON ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I THEN WOULD HAVE TO PULL MY JEEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURN IT OFF LET IT SET FOR A LITTLE THEN IT WOULD START BACK UP FINE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE WEEKS. WHEN IT WASNT HAPPENING AND I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AROUND NORMALLY THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT WOULD ALWAYS TURN ON AFTER ABOUT 5 TO 10 MIN AFTER DRIVIMG THE VEHICLE. OCCASIONALLY THE CHECK OIL LIGHT WILL ALSO TURN ON. I HAVE STILL FOUMD MP SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS AMD IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE CAR MADE A RIDICULOUS SCREAMING NOISE AND THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS (THIRD TIME BRINGING IT IN FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEM) AND NOW IT IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WHERE I AM BEING TOLD THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD NEW STRUTS (COMPLAINED ABOUT A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT AND SHOCKINGLY THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE THIRD TIME BRINGING IT IN), NEW BRAKE SENSOR SWITCH AFTER THEY ALSO FOUND THE MASTER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER AND THEN THEY FOUND THE SENSOR SWITCH BAD -THAT WAS OCTOBER OF 2015, APRIL 23RD 2016 THEY SAID THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THAT WAS WHAT WAS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE - I MAY BE A GIRL BUT I"M NOT STUPID (THAT WAS THE SECOND TIME I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE TRANS. ISSUE). IT'S HAD A NEW RADIO AND TELEMATIC MODULES 5 TIMES, NEW ANTENNA, NEW TIRE SENSORS, MOLDING, DOOR PANEL, ETC. THIS CAR WAS TOO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES AND JEEP/CHRYSLER GROUP ARE TELLING ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS OBVIOUSLY OVER HEATING GOING INTO "LIMP" MODE RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE STAYING IN 4TH GEAR AND LOOSING SPEED - THIS VEHICLE IS A COFFIN ON WHEELS AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS RELIABLE. WE HAVE EVERYTHING ON VIDEO THAT HAPPENED AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 21, 2016 AND AFTER TAKING IT FOR A DRIVE TO ASSURE THE PROBLEM WAS GONE (AGAIN THIRD TIME IT WAS BROUGHT IN). I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE SINCE NEW IN 2014 AND FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF HAVING THE VEHICLE I TRAVELED 50 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK EVERY DAY, SO I PUT A LOT OF MILES ON THE VEHICLE BUT MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES. I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL A MONTH AGO. I WENT TO GO TO WORK AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AN TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BECAUSE OF THE ETC LIGHT. THE ENGINE PULSATED AND REVVED STEADY AT 4,000 RPMS UNTIL I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE PCM. I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK AND IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. UPON GETTING GAS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. ALL THE LIGHTS AND THE RADIO WORKED BUT IT WOULD NOT CLICK, CRANK, OR TURN OVER. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT RAN FINE FOR 3 DAYS AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER CHRYSLER DEALER AND HAD YET ANOTHER PCM PUT IN IT. THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND I'VE BEEN WITHOUT IT AND DRIVING A RENTAL FOR ALMOST A WEEK NOW. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND UPON ASKING THEM WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IF THE ISSUE PERSISTS, THEY COULD ONLY SAY THEY'LL CONTINUE TO DIAGNOSE IT AND FIX IT. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO BE DRIVING AN LET SIT ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IF I DECIDE TO TAKE HIM SOMEWHERE FARTHER AWAY.

THEY TOOK 5 BUSINESS DAYS TO LOOK AT IT. I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. THE SERVICE TECH DETERMINED IT WAS THE WCM WAS NON RESPONSIVE. THEY SAID SINCE I HAD AN AFTERMARKET ALARM THE WARRANTY WAS VOID. I HAD THE ALARM INSTALLED BY AN ALARM SPECIALIST. THEY CHARGED ME $185 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC, AND MY CAR STILL DID NOT WORK. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR WCM. IT TURNS OUT THIS PROBLEM GOES BACK TO 2008 IN JEEP, CHRYSLER AND DODGE VEHICLES. ONE OF THE FORUMS RECOMMENDED I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY OR A CERTAIN FUSE. I DID THAT, THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP ! I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO REFUND MY MONEY. THIS WCM CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED BY A DEALER BECAUSE IT HAS TO MATCH THE VIN #. VEHICLE DOES NOT GIVE ANY INDICATION THAT ENGINE WILL DIE. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON IF IT DIES WHILE TURNING BUT IF NOT TURNING, VEHICLE ENGINE SIMPLY SHUTS OFF, AS IF IGNITION HAS BEEN TURNED OFF BUT VEHICLE HAS TO BE IN PARK AS OPPOSED TO BEING IN DRIVE WHEN ENGINE DIES. THE ENGINE IS QUIET & YOU CAN'T TELL IT'S DIED & YOU HAVE NO STEERING CONTROL. I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN THREE ACCIDENTS, ONE WITH A TRUCK-TRAILER WAITING TO TURN BUT STOPPING ABOUT A FOOT AWAY FROM BEHIND ME. MY MOM WAS IN A HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT AFTER A GAME & ALMOST ROLLED INTO SOME HIGH SCHOOL KIDS & THEIR PARENTS B/C SHE DIDN'T REALIZE SHE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS UNTIL MY BROTHER PULLED THE E-BRAKE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASE FROM TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER DEEMS IT A LEMON. I OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER, THEY WASTED MY TIME & FINALLY TOLD ME THAT NCDSUSA.ORG DEEMS IT A LEMON. I WASTE MORE TIME TO OPEN A CASE WITH NCDSUSA.ORG & SEND THEM MY REPAIR ORDERS & THEY GO THROUGH THE TRIAL & TELL ME THAT THEY DO NOT DEEM IT A LEMON BUT THAT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT'S IN WORKING ORDER THAT MY CASE IS DECLINED. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP & CHRYSLER DOESN'T CARE THAT AN UNSAFE VEHICLE IS ON THE ROAD, THAT I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN THREE ACCIDENTS & COULD HAVE DIED WHEN THE TRUCK AND TRAILER ALMOST REAR-ENDED ME AND THAT IT'S NOT JUST MY FAMILY OR MYSELF (IF I SURVIVE) THAT WILL BE FILING A LAWSUIT BUT ANY OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED BECAUSE I WILL TELL THE OTHER PARTY AND THEY COULD BE SUED BY THEM AS WELL. I'VE GIVEN DEALERSHIPS CHANCES TO GET THIS OFF THE ROAD BUT THEY REFUSE TO HELP.

OUR SEAT BELT LIGHT STARTED TO MESS UP IN JUNE 2015, WE TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND AFTER THEY TRIED TWO SWITCHES I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD NOT BE FIXED AND THAT ALL 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS DO THIS! IF YOU PULL THE SEAT BELT OUT AN INCH FROM HOME POSITION THE LIGHT GOES OFF, WHEN YOU ACTUALLY HAVE IT CLICKED IT WILL STILL BEEP AT YOU TELLING YOU THAT YOUR NOT WEARING YOUR SEAT BELT! WE HAVE ONLY HAD THIS JEEP SINCE FEB. 2014 AND PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW! IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION ON BASE, SO TECHNICALLY WE ARE NOT EVEN SUPPOSE TO BE DRIVING THIS UNSAFE JEEP THAT CAN'T BE FIXED! ALL 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS DO NOT DO THIS, I KNOW A COUPLE OF PEOPLE WHO PURCHASED A JEEP PATRIOT WITHIN A MONTH OR TWO FROM MY PURCHASE. FOR THE FOURTH TIME, WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON HWAY AT 65 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR, OVERHEAT LAMP GOES ON EVEN THOUGH GAGE DOES NOT RISE AND CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN ACCELERATION IS ATTEMPTED THE VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD WINDING SOUND AND SLOWS DOWN TO LESS THAN 20 MPH. EVENTUALLY ACCELERATION DOES NOT MATTER AS VEHICLE MOVES NO MORE THAN 20 MPH AND WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR 30 OR MORE MINUTES. WHEN WE START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE STARTS AGAIN WITHOUT ISSUE. WE ALSO HAVE THE LOW TIRE SIGNAL GO ON REGARDLESS OF WHETHER TIRES ARE INFLATED.

I HAD JUST EXITED THE HIGHWAY WHEN I SAW SPARKS FROM THE TAIL END OF MY JEEP. I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD THROWN OUT A CIGARETTE, BUT THEN I SAW MORE SPARKS FLY. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY INTO A GAS STATION. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, WHICH HAD STARTED TO SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE WHOLE HOOD WAS ENGULFED IN SMOKE AND IT WAS COMING IN TO THE INSIDE OF THE JEEP THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. I CALLED MY BROTHER FOR HELP. WHEN HE GOT THERE WAS STILL SMOKE, BUT HE LOOKED THROUGH THE GRILL OF THE JEEP AND THAT'S WHEN HE SAW FLAMES. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 AND WITHIN MINUTES THE FIREFIGHTERS WERE THERE AND HOSED DOWN UNDER THE HOOD. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP SITTING IN A SHOP LOT WAITING FOR CHRYSLER TO HELP ME, BUT IT HAS BEEN 2 WEEKS AND I AM STILL WITHOUT A CAR AND NO ANSWERS. *TR

ON THIS DAY WHILE DRIVING ON 95 SOUTH TO FRANKLIN MILLS MALL FROM UPPER DARBY WE NOTICED AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. ONCE I WAS AT THE MALL PARKING LOT LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE MY SON INDICATES THAT THERE IS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER HOOD ON PASSENGER SIDE. I PUT CAR IN PARK IN FRONT OF THE J C PENNEY STORE MY SON JUMPS OUT AND ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE HOOD. BUT IT DOESN'T OPEN. HE THEN SAYS GET OUT IT IS ON FIRE. WE ALL GET OUT AND WHEN WE MOVE SAFELY AWAY FROM CAR WE CAN SEE FIRE UNDER THE CAR WITH WIRES HANGING DOWN TO THE GROUND. MY SON IS A VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTER SO HE RAN INTO THE STORE TO GET AN EXTINGUISHER. HE SPRAYS THE HOOD I GUESS IN AN ATTEMPT TO COOL CAR DOWN. THEN AGAIN, BEFORE THE FIRE TRUCKS ARRIVE, HE HAD GONE INTO STORE AGAIN TO GET ANOTHER EXTINGUISHER. THIS TIME HE GETS ON THE GROUND AN EXTINGUISHER TOWARD THE FIRE THAT WAS INTENSIVELY SPREADING UNDER THE CAR. FIRE FIGHTERS COME AND EVENTUALLY HAD TO PRY THE HOOD OPEN AND SMOKE AND FLAMES BILLOW OUT UNTIL THE MANAGED TO PUT OUT FIRE. NO WARNINGS HOWEVER I DID NOTICE THAT ELECTRICAL BURN SMELL ONCE TWO DAYS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. SO NOW MY INSURANCE DETERMINE IT A TOTAL LOSS. THEY PAID $17,000 TO MY CREDITOR BUT I'M STUCK WITH A $6000 BALANCE AND NO CAR TO DRIVE. I WONDER IF I CAN SUE MANUFACTURER IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR @ $10,000 OR SO? *TR

I PURCHASED THIS 2014 PATRIOT FOUR WEEKS AGO WITH, I HAVE NOT EVEN MADE A FIRST PAYMENT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT MY JEEP LOST ALL POWER. I WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND WOULD HIT THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT IS WAS GOING TO STALL, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EVER TURNED ON. I PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. TURNED IT BACK ON, IT WAS NOT IMMEDIATE THERE WAS SOME LAG ON THE START AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TODAY TO BE INSPECTED AFTER A FEW HOURS THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I HAVE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AND FOUND THAT THE 2011/2012 MODELS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE PAST. THIS IS A TERRIFYING AND DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT MUST BE RESOLVED.
