The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (Electrical System); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

My engine light and traction light and red lightning bolt light is on and it’s making the vehicle run really hard and shake and almost stall out and won’t go over 20 miles per hour
My jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASSOCIATE THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE) That has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my jeep.

No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. The ECT had a failure at 67676 mileage the vehicle smelled like gas and would not accelerate, The Throttle body was replaced. No recall notice for this failure is listed for this vehicle.
Driving normal then suddenly power loss, jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the ETC , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.
Engine jerking really had while vehicle is in drive and idle hard while sitting still

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the Emissions Recall U67. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 157,000.

When travelling at high speeds, the engine repeatedly stalls, the engine light comes on the engine shuts down posing a major safety risk especially when on the highway at 65-70 mile hour speeds. There is a recall on similar models, but my vehicle's vin number is not showing. I am concerned that this vehicle has the same issue, but Chrysler is refusing to check it. The recall campaign number is N52 for a certain group of vehicles of the same model and the problem described is exactly what I am having with my vehicle. Essentially, my vehicle is posing a serious safety hazard and Chrysler is not willing to address it. I would appreciate any help with this matter. I have had two different mechanics look at it before I saw the recall and unable to detect the problem. Now that I have read the information on the recall, I want to have Chrysler review it for the recall. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where i was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

This incident also occurred 2 weeks after having the catalytic converter replaced due to emissions recall and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed
My jeep has revved up and lunged forward scream times over the past 4 months. I’ll have my foot on the brake and it’s trying to lunge forward. Today the engine light came on and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30mph and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed.
The Electronic Throttle Body has failed 3 times in 3 years. Each time it caused issued with the traction control, stability control, and precrash systems and others that require torque management, causing us to pull and making it unsafe to drive. . 2014 Jeep Patriot bought: 1/10/2015 | Electronic Throttle Body Assembly (Chrysler) first replaced/purchased: $385 1/19/2021 | Warranty replacement: August 2021 | purchased replacement (Techsmart/Standard Motor Products): $494.88 4/14/2022
As my wife was heading to a doctor's appointment the electronic throttle body failed while she was on a busy highway during rush hour. The car had 51,524 miles on it. This is the second time that this part has failed. The first time was a little less than 40,000 miles. When this fails the vehicle loses power and becomes a rear-end collision hazard. I also own a 2016 Jeep Patriot and its throttle body failed at a little less than 40,000 miles.
My patriot keeps shutting down on and off while driving. It is really unsafe, I did some research and there are multiple complaints since 2014 from other people about the same problem. The steering wheel won't even move when this happened. I believe this is a manufacturing issue and I am reporting it. I had taken my car to the mechanic over and over again and they do not know why this is happening.
I have a 2014 2.4L JEEP PATRIOT. I first noticed the problem when I was driving at 75 MPH between Mertzon Texas and Barnhart Texas, where there is no cell service unless you are on top of a hill. Then suddenly the check engine and the oil light came on and the vehicle began to lose speed no matter how much I pushed the gas peddle. The engine felt like it was running out of power and i was unable to accelerate, the engine began to stall and would not allow me to go over 15mph. The problem continued to get worse, while I pulled over and stopped, the engine would idle very heavily and sound rough. When I tried to proceed, the engine would stall, and my foot would be presing down on the gas pedalbut the car would not accelerate. Then after about a minute or the with the gas pedal down to the floor, the vehicle's rpms would jump and the it would go. But it continued the same pattern for about 15 miles, then it just died and would not start again for a few hours, but the issue was still the same, it would start but not move. Another issue is when the vehicle would be in park position and I would try to go in reverse, the engine would sound like it went into reverse, but it would not move, it would stall out and die. I have taken it to so many shops and they can not give an answer, they just say that the motor is blown. The problem is consistent with the NHS Recal-13V552000, so why does it still say that my vin in not affected when actually it is, but nothing is being done.
On 7/15, my sensor showed I needed a usual oil change. I have had no prior issues with my oil. I drove it to my brothers and there was a loud knocking sound, and my dad checked the dipstick showing zero oil in my engine. I took it down the street about 2 miles, and the engine was stalling the whole way. The engine completely failed. It wouldn’t take oil, it was completely failed. As of 11/2013, I did some research and my particular model of the vehicle has an open recall that apparently doesn’t affect my VIN, however, the recall 13v552000/N52 states that abrasive debri in the balance shaft bearing causes loss of engine oil pressure, causing the engine to stall and or fail. I’m at a loss, and it’s been open as of 11/2013.

THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 20 MPH. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE WOULD IDLE VERY HEAVILY. WHEN I WENT TO PROCEED, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. MY FOOT WOULD BE PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. THEN AFTER ABOUT TWO MINUTES WITH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE'S RPMS WOULD JUMP TO 4-5 AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IN A PARKED POSITION AND THEN PROCEEDED TO BE REVERSED, AS I WAS TURNING THE WHEEL TO BACK UP THE ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING AND STALLED OUT. I HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN THE KEY OFF THEN BACK ON TO ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE TO REVERSE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO SO MANY SHOPS THAT CAN'T GIVE ME ANSWERS. BUT THE MOST POPULAR ISSUES IS THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT- CHECK ENGINE LIGHT(U0401)- AND THE TRACTION CONTROLF LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH AND THE CAR IS STUCK IN "LIMP MODE" AND EVERYONE IS SAYING ON JEEPS SITE THAT ITS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THEN SOME STILL HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER THAT. I SAW ONLINE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE BREAKS, THE ENGINE IN 2013, AND THE AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BUT I GO TO ALL THE OFFICIAL SITES AND WHEN I USE MY VIN THE ONLY RECALL IS FOR THE SEATBELT. THE PARTRIOT RANDOMLY STALLS WHILE TRAVELLING AT ANY SPEED. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND CAR HAS TO COAST TO A STOP. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HAVE NO CLUE AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR MANY JEEP OWNERS, NOT JUST PATRIOTS. JEEP / CHRYSLER HAS A MAJOR ISSUE AND WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADDRESS IT. IF THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING, THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR THEIR LACK OF ADDRESSING THIS CRITICAL ISSUE. IT TAKES LESS THAN A MINUTE TO SEARCH AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED WITH ENGINE STALLING ISSUES WITH JEEP AUTOMOBILES. I HAVE A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT SPORT 2.0L 4CYL WUTH A CVT TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT IT USED CERTIFIED IN FEB 2018. ABOUT A MONTH INTO OWNING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO BUCK AND JERK. THE CAR SHAKES WHILE ON IDLE AND THERE IS A LOUD HELICOPTER SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. I TOOK TO TO 3 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALER AND NOBODY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAD 2 PASSENGERS IN THE CAR WITH ME.THE CAR BUCKS AND JERKS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STALLS WHILE IM DRVING THE SPEED LIMIT AT 60 MPH. THANKFULLY I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT. AFTER BEING ALL SHAKEN UP, AGAIN I HAD WAITIED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR STARTED AND DROVE AS IF NOTING HAPPEND. IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO LOCAL MECHANICS AND THEY DINT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH IT. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR HAD TO DECELERATE OR STOP AND THE RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1. AT ONE POINT, IT STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. IF YOU WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH CONTINUOUS GAS THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR IS THE THROTTLE BODY HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

TKATA RECALL. I OWN A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WHICH STARTED JUST A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT NEW. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE HOSE CLAMP, FILLED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RELEASED IT BACK TO ME. HAD I KNOWN WHAT HELL I WOULD BE DEALING WITH AFTERWARDS I WOULD HAVE NEVER BROUGHT IT BACK HOME. I NOW HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUES (I BELIEVE). THE CAR WILL OVERHEAT WITHIN MINUTES OF DRIVING IT. I HAVE NO HEAT. THE ETC LIGHT COMES ON OFTEN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW A CONSTANT. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO MANY TIMES TO COUNT NOW AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. JEEP HAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AND STATES THAT THERE ARE NO OTHER ISSUES LIKE MINE, BUT WHEN I LOOK AT BLOGS THERE ARE THOUSANDS. I FEEL DOOPED BY JEEP. THIS COMPLAINT IS MY LAST RESORT BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO AUTO-ZONE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THEY TOLD ME TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND HAVE IT SIT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS TO SEE IF THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP (N52) AND WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE, AND THEY COULD NOT AUTHORIZE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. DRIVING AT SPEED OF 55 MPH, CAR WILL START TO VIBRATE, THE ENGINE AND THE ETC (ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL) LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND STALL OUT. THE LAST STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING OCCURRED 09/07/17. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE ROAD AFTER BEING ON THE SHOULDER, THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND AGAIN STALL OUT. AFTER 5-7 ATTEMPTS AND NEARLY BEING HIT EACH TIME I TRY TO GET ON THE MAIN ROAD, THE PATRIOT WILL FINALLY GET ME STRAIGHT HOME. ONE MORNING I TRIED TO TURN ON MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. GOT A FRIEND TO COME OUT TO TRY AND JUMP START IT AND AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN IT WAS SUCCESSFUL. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. TRIED TO JUMP THE CAR AGAIN WITH NO SUCCESS. REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT DID NOT HELP. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONEMTS INSIDE THE CAR (RADIO,LIGHTS,ECT) WERE STILL FUNCTIONAL BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT START OR EVEN MAKE A SOUND LIKE IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO START. JEEP WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AFTER 1.5 WEEKS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I THEN TOWED IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HE STATED THAT HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. HE REMOVED THE PLASTIC COVERINGS OVER THE ENGINE AND STATED THEY ARE JUST FOR LOOKS AND DONT NEED TO BE THERE AND CLEANED SOME WIRES NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. LATER WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP STARTED TO ACT STRANGE. RANDOMLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WOULD TURN ON, THE GUAGES WENT ALL THE WAY TO ZERO THEN BACK UP TO NORMAL THE RADIO WOULD SHUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT THIS TIME THE LIGHTS STAYED ON ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I THEN WOULD HAVE TO PULL MY JEEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURN IT OFF LET IT SET FOR A LITTLE THEN IT WOULD START BACK UP FINE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE WEEKS. WHEN IT WASNT HAPPENING AND I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AROUND NORMALLY THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT WOULD ALWAYS TURN ON AFTER ABOUT 5 TO 10 MIN AFTER DRIVIMG THE VEHICLE. OCCASIONALLY THE CHECK OIL LIGHT WILL ALSO TURN ON. I HAVE STILL FOUMD MP SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS AMD IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I DID MY RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS EXISTED SINCE 2007 WITH NO PERMANENT SOLUTION. THIS MANIFESTS ITSELF AS AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER UNTIL THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT COMES ON AT WHICH POINT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE IS AN EXCELLENT VIDEO BY MOTOR CITY MECHANIC ON YOUTUBE THAT EXPLAINS THIS ISSUE IN DETAIL. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE OF THESE FAILS AT SPEED AND SOMEONE IS KILLED.

IT'S NEVER FLASHED SINCE AND THE CAR WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING WHEN MY BOYFRIEND DROVE IT. LAST WEEK WHILE STOPPED, WAITING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON DRY PAVEMENT MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHED. FINALLY LAST WEEK AS WELL MY BOYFRIEND FELT IT STARTED TEMPORARILY WHILE HE WAS DRIVING, ON THE FREEWAY. NOW IT HAS STARTED NOT STARTING. ALL ELECTRICAL WILL WORK, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AS FAR AS ENGINE. IT HAD ONLY DONE THAT COUPLE TIMES, NOW, TODAY IT DID IT FOUR TIMES IN 4 HOURS. THE FIFTH TIME IT STARTED TO TURN OVER, THEN DIED MID-TURNOVER AND WOULDN'T START AGAIN. IT SAYS THERE WAS ORIGINALLY A RECALL ON THIS AND A COUPLE OTHER YEARS PATRIOT, COMPASS AND SOME OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS. NOT SURE IF MINE WAS FIXED OR NOT NOW DUE TO THE PROBLEM ARISING AT THIS POINT IN TIME. I'VE ONLY HAD THE JEEP SINCE MAY 2015. THE LIGHTS FLASHED BRIEFLY ON THE DASH BOARD BUT NO ERROR MESSAGES REMAINED LIGHT. I CALLED A REPUTABLE REPAIR GUY AND WITHOUT ERROR LIGHTS THERE ISN'T MUCH ANYONE CAN TELL YOU. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER THREADS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT NOTHING BEING DONE BY CHRYSLER DUE TO THE LIMITED NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS. MY INCIDENT TODAY OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND I COULD VERY WELL HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED OR REAR-ENDED SOMEONE ELSE. WELL, A WEEK AGO I WAS DRIVING AND THE GAS PEDAL STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN WHERE IT FELT LIKE IT HAD A BRIEF LAG IN THE ACCELERATION. I STOPPED FOR GAS ON MY WAY HOME AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP! I AM SCARED EVERY TIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL THAT ITS GOING TO TRY TO STALL WHILE I AM DRIVING OR I WILL END UP STRANDED SOMEWHERE. IT THEN DWINDLED DOWN TO THE PREVIOUS 3 LIGHTS. LATER WHEN I MADE IT HOME AFTER SEVERAL STALLS, I WENT OUT TO START IT . THE MIL LIGHT LIGHTS FIRST, AND ALTHOUGH IT'S SUPPOSE TO WARN ME ABOUT SEAT-BELTS THAT HAS STOPPED. THEN THE ETC LIGHT COMES ON AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE OR SO, AND THE EAC WHICH STAYS ON.I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR DO THIS EVER! SO DANGEROUS! THE SEATBELT LIGHT? THIS HAS GOT TO BE ELECTRICAL. WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME THROUGH PA, MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I LOST SPEED, HORSEPOWER, AND TORQUE; I STRUGGLED TO MAKE IT UP HILL (DIDN'T GO PASS 40 MPH), WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY CARS BEHIND ME. I PULLED OVER AND LET MY CAR REST FOR 30 MINUTES AND MADE IT HOME AT 65 MPH. I NORMALLY TRAVEL ANYWHERE BETWEEN 70 & 75 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP IN WHEELING, WV THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. THE SERVICE DEPT. TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECORDED MESSAGES (CODES) IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND, THEREFORE, NO SERVICE WAS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE TECH EVEN INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM HE SEES, BUT CHRYSLER HASN'T FIXED IT AND HOPES THERE'S A RECALL. FAST-FORWARD TO AUGUST 31ST, 2015, I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM TWICE WHILE DRIVING HOME THROUGH OH. I HAD AUTOZONE RUN A DIAGNOSTIC AND AGAIN, NO RECORDED CODES IN THE SYSTEM. I SEE A MECHANIC TOMORROW (FRIDAY, SEPT. 4TH) AND JEEP ON AUGUST 10TH. I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON VARIOUS FORUMS AND YOUTUBE (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=VNKEZT0MR-4; HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=3-4STCTCGKW). AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH JEEP, DODGE, AND CHRYSLER FOR A LONG TIME. FOR THE FOURTH TIME, WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON HWAY AT 65 TO 70 MILES PER HOUR, OVERHEAT LAMP GOES ON EVEN THOUGH GAGE DOES NOT RISE AND CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR. EVENTUALLY ACCELERATION DOES NOT MATTER AS VEHICLE MOVES NO MORE THAN 20 MPH AND WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR 30 OR MORE MINUTES. WHEN WE START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE STARTS AGAIN WITHOUT ISSUE. WE ALSO HAVE THE LOW TIRE SIGNAL GO ON REGARDLESS OF WHETHER TIRES ARE INFLATED.

I EXPLAINED THAT NHTSA HAD THE RECALL INFORMATION ON THEIR WEB SITE, AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS NOT THE NHTSA WHO PUTS RECALLS. RECALLS ARE VIN SPECIFIC. I'M A LITTLE BAFFLE BY THE WOMAN AT CHRYSLER'S COMMENT, DUE TO THE FACT THAT SHE HAS NO IDEA OF WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY VEHICLE. I THANK THE WOMAN AND STATED THAT I HONESTLY HOPE THE INFORMATION GIVEN IS CORRECT AND THAT I AM SAFE ON THE ROADS. PERSONALLY I DON'T TRUST THE MANUFACTURES DUE TO HAVING PAST RECALLS ON VEHICLES AND RECIEVING NO NOTIFICATION. APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 HOURS INTO THE TRIP, I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE AND ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY LOSING POWER. I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD ON THE LEFT DUE TO AN EMBANKMENT. AFTER SEVERAL CARS AND TRACTOR TRAILERS HAD TO BRAKE AND SWERVE TO PASS ME ON THE RIGHT, I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD JUST BEFORE IT STOPPED COMPLETELY. UPON BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED A VIBRATION AND RELATED NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND THE FIREWALL OF MY JEEP; HOWEVER, AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE NOISE WENT AWAY. UPON PLACING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND ACCELERATING TO 5-10 MILES AN HOUR THE VIBRATION AND NOISE, WHICH I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE AS A IDLING MOTORCYCLE RETURNS. IF THE JEEP IS TRAVELING AT A SPEED UNDER 20 MPH OR SITTING IN DRIVE AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT. WITHIN ABOUT A WEEK OF THIS HAPPENING, THE JEEP HAD ISSUES STARTING. ONCE THE KEY WAS PLACED IN THE IGNITION AND AN ATTEMPT TO START THE CARE WAS MADE, THE ENGINE HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING. IT WOULD ENGINE WOULD TURNOVER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD FINALLY START. I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE IT AS THE SAME EXPERIENCE AN INDIVIDUAL WOULD EXPERIENCE WHEN STARTING A CAR AFTER REPLACING THE CARBURETOR. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE JEEP WILL STALL WITHOUT ABY EXPLANATION. MFG AND DEALER INDICATE THAT ALL JEEP PATRIOTS HAVE TRANSMISSION METERING/SENSORING SYSTEM THAT FAILS AND THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. THEY SAY THEY'RE NOT ISSUING A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ENOUGH CRASHES OR FATALITIES. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT GOES ON, THE VEHICLE WILL SLOW DOWN SWIFTLY (EX 70MPH TO 20MPH OR FULL STOP) AND THIS IMPACTS VEHICLE SAFETY - PUTTING SAFETY AND LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF JEEP DRIVERS AT RISK, ALONG WITH PASSENGER AND THEIR FAMILIES. ALL MFG AND DEALER TRY TO DO IS COLLECT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FEE FOR VEHICLE DEFECTS THEY'RE AWARE OF AND HAVE NO FIX FOR. BASICALLY, THEY'RE WILLING TO COLLECT MONEY AND LET PEOPLE CRASH OR DIE. I WAS LAST AFFECTED ON MAY 31, 2014 AND WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE I-10 IN AZ AT 115 DEGREES IN THE DESERT. I HAVE TO STEER OFF HIGHWAY TO AVOID TRUCKS CRASHING INTO ME. I SUFFERED HEAT EXHAUSTION AND CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYMORE DUE TO SAFETY, STRESS, AND ANXIETY. HE SAYS OTHER MODELS ARE ALSO AFFECTED. PLEASE ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL AND IF THERE IS NO FIX, PLEASE HELP GET ME INTO A NEW VEHICLE. I WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND WOULD HIT THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THAT IS WAS GOING TO STALL, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS EVER TURNED ON. I PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. TURNED IT BACK ON, IT WAS NOT IMMEDIATE THERE WAS SOME LAG ON THE START AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TODAY TO BE INSPECTED AFTER A FEW HOURS THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I HAVE INVESTIGATED FURTHER AND FOUND THAT THE 2011/2012 MODELS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE PAST. THIS IS A TERRIFYING AND DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT MUST BE RESOLVED.
