When adding fuel at the gas station through vehicle Cap-less fuel fill tube, gas pump nozzle could not be removed without pulling on it which snapped the small thin plastic tabs holding cap-less fuel port in place. According to the manufacturer and repair Shops the entire fuel filler tube system has to be replaced and requires the gas tank to be removed to install the new tube This is a very poor design with poor quality materials and will cause fuel spills and combustion
The Evaporative Emissions System (EVAP system), including components such as the charcoal canister, purge valve, and/or fuel tank venting system, appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After refueling the vehicle completely, it will stall or shut off unexpectedly while driving, which could cause a collision, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. This sudden loss of power places myself, my passengers, and other drivers at significant risk. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No warning lights, error messages, or advance symptoms were present prior to the vehicle stalling. The issue first occurred around 2022.
Car randomly stalls in park, when reversing, when in drive but brake is being applied, or when first accelerating after putting into drive. Several times now it has stalled when I'm at stop lights. One time it stalled after just tapping the brake while approaching a stop light. That was terrifying because the car was still in motion. Also, car randomly jerks hard when shifting gears. Recently, car doesn't want to shift while accelerating up hills, and RPM's can get up to 4.5 or 5. No engine light or other warnings lights ever come on. I have brought it to my mechanic two times now about the hard shifting and stalling.Have another appointment this week. They can't figure out what's causing it. Nor can they replicate the problem. This can happen a few times a day, then go weeks without an issue. I've seen the same problems from dozens of people on Jeep forums for 2015 -2017 models. No one had a solution, while seemingly getting brushed off by the dealerships about it.
Jeep Renegade 2015 . THE CAP LESS FUELSYSTEM. Can't physically put gas nozzle into the tank. I even tried the plastic funnel that comes with the jeep and that won't go in either. There are 3 plastic tabs that must be pushed in by the nozzle before the metal flap will release and allow the pump in. Two smaller ones in the upper left/right and one large one on the bottom. Sometimes these can get gummed(or in my case were kinda defective straight from the factory). In 2019 Renegade redesign the gas tank differently so I'm guessing they know about this issue. There are forum on top of forums about this problem. We really need a recall on this. Eventually, I have to exchange my cap less fuel system since I am dreading every trip to a gas station. I can't drive my car if I can't put gas in it.
cap-less fuel tank is broken, I was pumping my gas and pulled the exterior part off the cap-less fuel tank and It came right off. THAT SHOULD not happen
Vehicle throttle lags from a take off causing dangerous conditions while merging on to highway and turning on busy city streets.
At 58k miles my check engine light came on and it was determined that it was throwing the code 0456 for a small EVAP leak. I took my Renegade to the dealership for a smoke test and had told them there is sometimes a strong fuel smell when driving. The first smoke test they claimed they couldn't find a leak but noticed a strong fuel smell coming from the rear of the vehicle. They performed one more smoke test and still couldn't find leak. Scheduled another appointment, software update was performed and code was cleared. 2 days later check engine light came back on and when fueling vehicle found gas leaking from the rear wheel well. Took Renegade back to dealership, where it was determined the leak was coming from the fuel filler neck. Paid $500 to have new fuel filler neck installed code was cleared only to come back on the next morning. It was determined it was throwing the same code 0456 for a small EVAP leak. Was advised I would have to have another smoke test done. Idle is really rough when sitting still. It is no longer leaking fuel, but still runs like garbage. Haven't been able to have a forth smoke test done yet because I can't afford it. I have already forked out almost 1k since this started almost 2 months ago. Was advised I should reach out to Chrysler as I have had the vehicle since new and have kept up with all maintenance. Warranty had been expired 4 months prior to this issue.
I recently had the exact problem that was reported under NHTSA ID 11309398. I wanted to report this since if it is happening to me and others, perhaps Jeep will consider a recall to fix this issue. I had to pay over $700 for parts and labor (my warranty expired 2 months before this happened!). It's a pretty annoying manufacturing/quality issue. I've never in 50 years of driving had this happen on any car. Issue described below. The cap leess fuel filler broke. I was filling up the fuel tank and when I went to remove the fuel nozzle from the tank, the cap less filler neck came out with the nozzle. Basically fell out. And there was no obvious way to repair it. I had to replace the entire mechanism since I don't want fuel sloshing out of my tank.

I BOUGHT MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2015 AND BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS RIGHT AWAY. THERE'S A POWER ISSUE WHERE THE CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF AND LOSE POWER AND THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE HAD IT JUMPED SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO GET IT MOVING AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR TO SEVERAL AUTO ZONES TO TEST OUT THE BATTERY JUST TO SEE IF I WOULD GET A DIFFERENT RESPONSE BUT EACH CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. IT EITHER COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF OR STOPS PICKING UP SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY HOUSTON TRAFFIC. YOU CAN FEEL WHEN IT SWITCH GEARS SOMETIMES, IT MAKES THIS HARD AND LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN IT'S TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS. IT'S ALWAYS DONE THAT. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS IF I'M AT A SLOWER DRIVING SPEED, LIKE TURNING AT A LIGHT, AND THEN ACCELERATE TO PICK UP SPEED, IT EITHER MAKES THAT LOUD POPPING SOUND, OR STRUGGLES TO PICK UP SPEED AND EVENTUALLY STALLS AND/OR LOSE POWER. IT'S REAL SCARY. I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND HAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT MANY TIMES BUT NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE RECALLS AND HAVE BEEN SEEING NUMEROUS CASES FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE I'M HAVING BUT SOMEHOW MY VIN ISN'T ASSOCIATED WITH ANY RECALLS.

NOW EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE YOU CAN SEE GAS MUST SPILL OUT OF THE NECK WHEN THE TANK IS FULL SINCE THERE IS NOTHING TO PREVENT FUEL FROM COMING OUT.

2015 JEEP RENEGADE LIMITED 4X4 HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SINCE PURCHASING IT USED FROM DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY 2019. IT STALLS WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I HAVE TO PUT IN PARK, PUSH THE START BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF, AND THEN PUSH THE BUTTON AGAIN WITH FOOT ON BREAK TO START IT AGAIN. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, GOING 70 MPH, MY CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND SAID THERE WAS AN ERROR. I HAD A FAMILY MEMBER HELP ME LOAD IT UP AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY FUEL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND SHOWED ME THAT I HAD GAS HOWEVER MY CAR HAD NO GAS. I HAD TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRE FUEL PUMP SINCE THE SENSOR IS INTEGRATED WITHIN THE PUMP. MY MILEAGE WAS 36,000 NOW MY RADIATOR FAN ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED AS IT IS GOING OUT. I AM AT 41,000 MILES NOW. I NOTICED A WEIRD NOISE COMING FROM THE MOTOR AREA WHILE I WAS IDLING. I NOTICED

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FOX CHRYSLER (4100 PLAINFIELD AVE NE, GRAND RAPIDS, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY; HOWEVER, THE PART WOULD NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST OF 2019. THE CAR WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING, THINKING THAT IT IS OUT OF GAS, WHEN IN ACTUALITY THE CAR HAS BETWEEN 3-4 BARS OF GAS LEFT. NO "LOW FUEL" WARNING LIGHT OR NOTIFICATION WILL APPEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH, ONCE WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN & THE CAR LITERALLY STARTED SPUTTERING AND CUT COMPLETELY OFF AT 65 MPH ALMOST CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WITH A SEMI. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN & I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT ALL, ESPECIALLY WITH THEM IN THE CAR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN NOVEMBER 2018 & EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON GAS, I WOULD RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION & THE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR. HOWEVER AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 3-4 BARS OF GAS WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION WHATSOEVER.

MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE THE PAST 7 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD TO GET 3 OIL CHANGES AND TOP OFF THE OIL MANY TIMES IN BETWEEN, WHICH IS MUCH MORE THAN THE MANUAL STATES IS NECESSARY. THIS VEHICLE BURNS THROUGH OR LOSES OIL TOO QUICKLY, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION) WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. IT OFTEN TURNS OFF GOING UP OR DOWN HILL, AND AFTER OR MID TURN (WHAT LITTLE OIL IS REMAINING SHIFTS) ON CITY STREETS. MY CAR HAS TURNED OFF ITSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A COUPLE MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL TURN ITSELF BACK ON. LIKE MENTIONED, THIS HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES SINCE MAY 2018 (PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MARCH 2018). BETWEEN 10/29 AND 10/31, IT OCCURRED 9 TIMES. IF NECESSARY, I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF THE FREQUENCY OF SERVICE NEEDED.

VEHICLE JERKED HARD AND IMMEDIATELY LOST PROPULSION WHILE DRIVING 73 MPH ON INTERSTATE. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP AT A REST AREA, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR SHUT OFF. WOULD RESTART FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DIE AGAIN. WHEN TRYING TO START IT A MESSAGE SHOWED UP SAYING TO STOP THE CAR WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND NOT MOVING. PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT APPLYING IT, TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO GO OFF. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE HAD IT TOWED TO CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP. CAR STARTED FOR THEM THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID NO CODES SHOWED UP AND THAT THE CAR STOPPED BECAUSE IT WAS LOW ON OIL AND 200 MILES PAST TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. SAID THIS WAS A FEATURE OF THE CAR -IF IT WAS LOW ON OIL IT WOULD JUST DIE SO IT COULDN'T BE DAMAGED BY DRIVING IT WITH LOW, OR NO, OIL, AND THAT NO WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THEY CHANGED THE OIL, PRONOUNCED IT FIXED AND I GOT IT BACK. 3 DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A HILLY, WINDY, 2-LANE ROAD, 25 MPH, THE CAR AGAIN LOST PROPULSION, THIS TIME WITHOUT JERKING FIRST. I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWNHILL TO A WIDE SPOT IN THE ROAD AND STOP. WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A "SERVICE ENGINE" MESSAGE APPEARED. CALLED MY HUSBAND, WHEN HE GOT THERE WE RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS SHAKING LIKE CRAZY AND SOUNDED LIKE A BUNCH OF HEAVY METAL OBJECTS WERE BEING TUMBLED IN A METAL DRUM. CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER AS BEFORE. AFTER 2 DAYS THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT IT NEEDED AN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS, CAM SHAFT SENSOR, CRANK SHAFT AND SPARK PLUGS, PLUS THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE WORK. CALLED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY, THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED SINCE IT WAS LESS THAN 40 MILES AWAY, SO IT WAS TOWED THERE. STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP AS TO WHAT THEY THINK THE PROBLEM IS, TODAY IS THE 4TH DAY THEY'VE HAD THE CAR.

DASHBOARD COMPLETELY FLICKERS ALL AREAS OF OPERATION UNTIL FINALLY SHOWING MPH. WHEN I PURCHASED VEHICLE BRAND NEW, IT HAD TO BE TOWED INTO DEALER NEXT MORNING. DEALER STATED BATTERY WAS DEAD AND NEEDED CHARGED AS WELL AS THERE BEING LITTLE TO NO OIL IN VEHICLE. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS WITH A NEW VEHICLE BEFORE. ALSO THE MESH FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR IS SEPARATING FROM THE HANDLE AS OF 1 WEEK FROM PURCHASE.

DRIVING ALONG AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON A RURAL ROAD ON VACATION OUT WEST WHEN THE VEHICLE QUIT ACCELERATING. COASTED TO ROADSIDE. UPON TURNING VEHICLE OFF, MADE SOUNDS FOR A WHILE. LET IT REST AND TRIED TO RESTART ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. NO LUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEALERSHIP SAID THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. MILEAGE WAS 64K. THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE POWER TRAIN SO THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING @ 50 MPH THE SECOND TIME I WAS STATIONARY STARTING UP AT FIRST THEN BUCKING N NOISE STARRED AT @ 30 MPH.

JEEP HAD 628 MILES ON IT WHEN DRIVING HOME SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 0 HAD NO POWER MANAGE TO PULL OF THE ROAD SMELLED GAS LOOK AROUND AND FOUND GAS LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE JEEP NEEDED TO HAVE IT TOWED. LEAKED A LOT OF GAS ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEY UNLOADED IT. TOLD IT WAS A FUEL FITTING AND NEED SOFTWARE UPDATES. I AM SURE GLAD IT WAS AT NIGHT WITH NO TRAFFIC AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHO NO'S WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPED.

THIS IS AN UPDATE TO AN EARLIER COMPLAINT (#10826148) ABOUT MY 6-SPEED MANUAL 4X4 2015 RENEGADE LATITUDE (WITH ~6490 MILES ON IT) WHICH WAS REVVING UNCONTROLLABLY, POPPING OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL, DIFFICULT TO GET INTO AND OUT OF GEAR AS WELL AS EXHIBITING POOR FUEL ECONOMY. AT FIRST, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE ANY OF THE PROBLEMS, BUT I INSISTED THAT THEY KEEP THE CAR AND DRIVE IT FURTHER. THEY DID AND WERE ABLE TO SEE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THAT WAS NEARLY ONE MONTH AGO. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS FOR WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH, A PART FOR WHICH (THE THROW-OUT BEARING) WAS ON BACK ORDER. I PICKED UP THE CAR THIS PAST FRIDAY 3/11/16, DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED IT IN MY GARAGE, HAPPY THAT IT WAS FIXED. OR SO I THOUGHT. SATURDAY MORNING, LESS THAN 24 HOURS SINCE BRINGING IT HOME, AS I WAS PREPARING TO GO OUT OF TOWN, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE, AND THERE IT SITS, STUCK IN MY GARAGE, TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THING IS, I HAD NOT TRIED OUT THE REVERSE ON IT WHEN I PICKED IT UP OR GOT IT HOME. I HAD A STRAIGHT RUN OUT OF THE GARAGE WHEN I PICKED IT UP, DROVE AROUND THE BUILDING AND THEN STRAIGHT TO MY HOME. I'M WONDERING IF THEY HAD NOT DONE SO TOO. NOW THAT IT IS NEARLY 30 DAYS OUT OF COMMISSION, I WILL PROBABLY TRY TO GET THE CAR DECLARED A LEMON AND ASK THE DEALERSHIP TO BUY IT BACK. I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT, EVEN IF THEY WERE TO FIX THE CLUTCH AGAIN. NHTSA, PLEASE LOOK INTO OUR CARS-I HAVE READ THE COMPLAINTS AND IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH IT!

I PURCHASED MY 2015 RENEGADE LATITUDE 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE LAST FALL AND FOUND THAT FROM THE BEGINNING AT TIMES I HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING IT INTO GEAR. I'VE BEEN DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSION CARS (ALL SEDANS UNTIL THIS) FOR NEARLY 35 + YEARS SO I'M FAMILIAR WITH HOW TO SHIFT ETC. I KNEW AND EXPECTED THAT THERE'D BE A LEARNING CURVE AS EVERY VEHICLE IS DIFFERENT. BUT BY NOW IT SHOULD BE RESOLVED. INSTEAD, IT HAS WORSENED. I HAVE MANEUVERED AROUND THE MINOR PROBLEMS -THOSE AT LOWER SPEEDS-HAVING TO DOWNSHIFT A FEW TIMES WHEN I NEEDED TO UPSHIFT (I RELY ON SOUND AND THE RPMS AS MY GUIDE). THE CAR NOW HAS 6200 MILES ON IT (A MIX OF BACK ROAD DRIVING WITH SUBURBAN STREETS AND SOME HIGHWAY) AND IT IS NOW REVVING UNCONTROLLABLY AT TIMES, THROWING ME OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL, ACTING AS IF ON ICE WHEN THERE IS NONE, SURGING FORWARD WHEN I HAVEN'T ACCELERATED. AND THE ADVERTISED 31/27 MPG HAS NOT HAPPENED. I AM NOW DOWN TO 23 MPG. I WILL BE DROPPING IT OFF TOMORROW FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THIS REVVING PROBLEM AND THE LOW MPG. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR, WHICH I LOVE VERY MUCH, ASIDE FROM THE PROBLEMS BTW. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS LISTED ON SITES ABOUT JUST THIS THING AND IT IS A REMINDER OF THE OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION PROBLEMS OF CARS IN YEARS PAST (LIKE WITH AUDI). PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO BESIDES TAKING IT INTO THE SHOP. I SEE BELOW THAT YOU ASK WHEN THIS HAPPENED: AS I SAID, FROM THE BEGINNING-I NOTICED THAT WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT IT INTO FIRST AND THEN SHIFTED INTO 2ND, I'D HAVE TO GO BACK TO FIRST. THEN, IT WOULD SURGE AHEAD AS IF IT WERE IN THIRD OR FOURTH. THAT HAS CONTINUED.. THE SCARY ISSUE IS THE REVVING IN TRAFFIC LAST WEEK. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE THEN.

ENTIRE CAPLESS GAS TANK HOUSING BROKE OFF AND STAYED ATTACHED TO THE GAS NOZZLE AT THE PUMP. ALSO, CONTINUED SQUEALING BRAKES WITH NO FIX. NEEDED SOFTWARE UPDATE AT 125 MILES.

2 WEEKS AFTER BUYING MY BRAND NEW RENEGADE, IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON THE FREEWAY & I HAD TO COAST OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. NOT ONLY DID MY JEEP LEAVE ME STRANDED, I COULD HAVE BEEN RAN OVER AT 80 MILES AN HOUR. JUST BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN, MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AND BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED EVEN THOUGH THE RPMS WERE HITTING THE RED MARKS. IT WAS SERVICED, AND GIVEN 2 SOFTWARE UPDATES. A WEEK LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. YOU CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE, INSTEAD IT DIES, HOWEVER THE RPM'S GO UP AS HIGH AS THEY CAN GO BUT MY CAR WON'T SHIFT GEARS. NOW IT IS IN THE SHOP (FOR OVER A WEEK), SUPPOSEDLY GETTING A NEW FUEL PUMP, WHICH I DO NOT THINK IS THE ULTIMATE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC PROBLEMS AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT KEEPS HAPPENING. AFTER PUTTING ME IN DANGER TWICE, I FEEL CERTAIN AS SOON AS I GET MY NEW FUEL PUMP AND DRIVE HOME, THIS WILL BREAK DOWN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP ONE MONTH, BRAND NEW.

"TAKATA RECALL" AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE FROM A PARKING SPOT AT THE VA, I SMELLED GAS, AND IT STALLED. AFTER STARTING SEVERAL MORE TIME, AND ONLY ABLE TO MAKE IT APPROXIMATELY SEVERAL FEET EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE FINALLY DIED, LEAVING A TRAIL OF GAS, AND A HUGE PUDDLE UNDERNEATH. IT WAS THE FUEL RETURN LINE WHERE THE PLASTIC CONNECTS TO METAL. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS.
