My car just shut off out of now where while I was driving, tried to turn it on and wouldn’t start, get u I was in the middle of the road bc it just shut off. I left it off for about 10 minutes and finally it turned back on but yet the battery and everything was good on the car, this is definitely a road hazard ⚠️!
Vehicle was returning Diagnostic code P0653 and P2138 it was taken to the dealership for servicing on 04/26/2025. Pedal position sensor was identified as the issue. Part was on national backorder for several weeks. and issue was repaired on 05/22/25. Vehicle was driven less than 100 miles and presented with the same issue on 06/26/2025 and was returned to the dealership for servicing. Service department reset the code and drove the vehicle for less than 100 miles, and indicated they could not reproduce the problem. Car was left at the dealership for a week for additional diagnostic. Car was picked up on 07/12/2025 from the dealership and on 07/15/2025 car was returned for third time to repair the issue with the same codes. A case was opened with Stellantis. At this poin car is still being repaired for the same issue. When issue occurs car goes into limp mode, and runs at 50% throttle, and has on occasion completely lost power sometimes causing some safety concerns. Vehicle was able to drive in limp mode first two times, third time required towing to the dealership
Summary of Ongoing Issues with Shaver Automotive & Stellantis Regarding W80 Recall -Initial Reporting (December 2018): At 35,104 miles, I first reported engine stalling, performance issues, and excessive oil consumption to Shaver Automotive. -Recall Notification & Incomplete Testing (January 2024): I received a recall letter in January 2024 for the W80 oil consumption test. Shaver Automotive performed the first part of the test but instructed me to return for Part 2—which they subsequently delayed. -Delays & Failed Recall Test (July 2024–January 2025): From July to December 2024, Shaver ignored multiple requests to schedule the second test. In January 2025, part 2 of the test was finally conducted. W80 Recall test failed, prompting a promise of a new engine installation by mid-to-late March 2025. -Dealership Fraud & Negligence (March–June 2025): From March to June 2025, Shaver: -Ignored all follow-up requests for updates. -Falsified service records, including a fabricated appointment on 3/26/25 while I was out of town. -Falsified mileage on my Jeep at said fabricated appointment. -Closed my Stellantis case without notification, obstructing resolution. -Stellantis’ Failure to Intervene (2024–2025): Despite three active case numbers (#93024832, #93352240, #93372613), Stellantis repeatedly directed me back to Shaver Automotive, refusing to escalate or resolve the issue. -Legal & Ethical Violations: Shaver’s misconduct, mileage tampering, falsified documents, and deliberate delays, has left me with an unsafe vehicle for over 18 months, violating: -Consumer protection laws (e.g., Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act). -Recall compliance obligations under NHTSA guidelines. Stellantis’ negligence in overseeing its dealership network exacerbated the harm.
No oil change light, no engine light. Excessive Oil consumption engine Metal to metal brakes
The engine cooling fan failed. The vehicle was repaired by Firestone, and we have the old parts in case an inspection is needed. This failure put myself and others at risk because had I not been close to home when the engine light came on, the engine would have overheated. My daily commute is over 50 miles, and this could have caused an accident if it had happened on the highway. The problem was confirmed by a service center (Firestone). The entire fan assembly needed to be replaced since the bracket was also broken. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. The check engine light first came on while I was driving home from the store on 5/31/25. Then, the A/C stopped cooling. I stopped by Advance Auto Parts Store, and they checked the engine code (P0481) and advised me to purchase a fuse. When I arrived home and checked under the hood, I found that there was indeed a blown fuse. After replacing the fuse, I noticed that the fan was shaking and rattling. I then took the vehicle to the local Firestone center and they diagnosed the problem. I searched online to see if other Renegade owners had reported problems with the engine cooling fan and found that there was a recall (Recall Number: V54 - Engine Cooling Fan) for 2015 - 2017 Jeep Renegades for this same issue. However, it seems that my vehicle was not included in the recall. I am requesting that my vehicle be included in the recall so I can be reimbursed for the $1,053 that I spent on this repair.
The jerking, delayed take off reported originally that was supposedly corrected with a motor replacement STILL happens. Spoken with multiple other Renegade drivers and tow truck drivers, the transmission appears to be the issue. Each recorded visit to the dealership has reported transmission ok. My safety is my absolute #1 concern. Want transmission checked, rechecked, repaired, replaced or whatever makes my driving life safe as possible.
8/23 I was informed of a recall on my engine due to oil consumption. I took my vehicle to Jeep & completed an oil consumption test being told my car was affected & the engine would be replaced. I was told that there’s a long wait & could be 6mos or more. I started calling after 6mos & was told over & over again the engine hadn’t arrived then referred to the manufacturer for resolution. The manufacturer said nothing was ever reported to them. I went to Autonation to get to the bottom of things & they’re acting like none of this ever happened while asking me what I want them to do about it smirking as if this is funny.
On 3 occasions, in the past three weeks, the vehicle has lost power while in motion and display states “shift to park”. Restarting vehicle is required. This occurs while in motion and could be dangerous for driver and passenger. Car repair unable to diagnose issue. Reported numerous codes concerning “communication errors”
Complaint #11629826. i also have had safety issues with my 2016 Jeep Renegade. Engine shuts down while driving flashes check engine signs and has to be put in park to be restarted. Currently, engine stops while driving and " emergency brake goes on " I have to restart jeep and drive with emergency brake on because it won't go off even though I have not set the brake on. This is happening frequently and almost was hit on the highway due to Jeep engine stopping while I was driving. I have had it in for service several times and paid for software/connection replacements etc. Problem still exists and very dangerous. Jeep dealership unsure how to fix the problem. Numerous dates of occurrence within the last 2 months-
All motor mounts poorly manufactured too light. Need recalled as its a known problem.
While driving the car, the wheel locked and we lost acceleration, and a warning light for the electric engine throttle came on. The car is undriveable, and we are extremely lucky that we were not in an accident. We suspect that the W79 recall for other Jeeps is implicated for our car.
All motor engine mounts and transmission mounts notoriously gone bad....poorly manufactured. Should be recalled to be replaced on ALL these vehicles
On more than one occasion, this car has stalled or stopped, leaving me coasting to the side of the road in active traffic. I was going about 30-35 mph. It has had oil consumption problems since 2021 when I purchased it. It was presented to me at point of sale as gas consumption...it wasn't getting good mileage and would need a tune up. Also misrepresented as having a spare and it did not. On 4 Aug 2024 I completed the most recent oil consumption test and it failed. Leith Jeep refused to provide me with paperwork and said "no charge." But it needed another quart of oil which I added. Before the test was completed it needed a quart of oil. I have all records and will attach here if possible or email under separate emails. Not sure how many doc can be attached. I had recall repairs made. My car is part of the class action lawsuit but is unsafe. I am told to correct I need a new engine which will cost me out of pocket $11,000.00 due to no longer under warranty. But it has had this problem since I bought it and prior, an oil consumption test was done by the dealer in possession then.
Was driving with cruise co trip on going about 70 mph. On an interstate. All of a sudden I saw my dash all go out and was pushing down on my accelerator and had no power and car was slowing down. Next it came back on and the the steering wheel light with exclamation showed up. Today 2 days later driving and it states service 4wd and the. When at a stop light it again did the same thing and this time shut down. This is a high priority in my mind I can’t allow younger drivers to drive. I see other complaints like this too.My spouse also observed the first time. Could of cause fatalities and or severe harm.
Check engine light on. ECM (engine control computer) malfunction. Dealer first denied any problems with vehicle even with check engine light on. So I took to it to independent service center, which confirm problem. By providing the service center report, the dealer then confirm problem. Problems/symptoms occur 2 days after financing vehicle.
Was sitting in a drive through and car started smoking. It stopped after I shut everything down. Then another time it overheated after driving for seven minutes had to stop. Air conditioning doesn’t work . Engine light on. Just bought from dealer with 20000 miles like a lemon. So not right.
This vehicle is constantly burning through oil between oil changes. It has stopped several times while driving only to find out it has no oil. It has been on the W80 recall list for 2 years and the dealerships in my area just say the parts are on allocation. I literally have to drive with oil in the car to refill it on the side of the road. I just got another recall notification from Jeep for U90 and they don't have parts to fix that either. I can't get it fixed. I can't sell it and I can't afford to keep it on the road. The low oil warning light does NOT come on.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated he was able to restart the vehicle and drive to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

My customer satisfaction number is W20. I have been waiting since December 2022 to get the catalytic converter replaced. I was told there were 2 people ahead of me. Everytime I called I was told they were still trying to reach the people. They did update the software but now my Jeep is sluggish. I have to force the gas pedal to force the accelerator to the floor to pick up speed. So my gas mileage is very bad. I hope the engine does not go waiting so long to get a defective part replaced. I am in Arkansas now and will be until my Mom gets out of the hospital. I want to get my Jeep fixed now. I am close to Batesville and Jonesboro Arkansas. Please tell me where I can take my Jeep to get it repaired or do I take the recall card to any Jeep dealer. I feel I have waited long enough.
Basically I purchased the car dec 3,2023 from drive time . 3 weeks later it needed a new transmission.the warranty fixes the transmission I didn’t have my car for a month .The service dept said there’s a recall on my engine also so they started an oil consumption test after I picked my car up after the transmission installed. Drove the car for 1500 miles and bring it into them they said I need a new engine. I asked them so when can I set appointment for my engine they said they will get back to me . It’s been 2 months and I haven’t heard from them . I want a brand new vehicle. The dealership sold me an lemon
My 2016 Jeep Renegade Sport 4WD 2.4L (~87K mileage) never has given me any major issues or shown symptoms of any need for service attention recently. It has been upkept with regular oil changes and servicing as needed. I recently went on vacation and had the vehicle parked for a week and upon returning and trying to turn the vehicle on it would not start. It was not the battery as that was recently changed and the vehicle tried very hard to crank, but nothing was successful on its own we even tried charging the battery and jumping it with our other car. I had AAA finally come and they were able to start it, but as soon as you put it in "drive" to move it the engine would flood and the car would shut off. As the car would run, white smoke would flow out of the tailpipe horribly as well. I had it towed to the AAA car center since they are around the corner and they are stating the head gasket is blown and the engine will need replacement. There was no indication from the vehicle that it needed a oil change or that oil was low. There was no symptoms I encountered prior to all of this happening. It was advised NOT to have the engine machined to fix the gasket due to the mileage and age of the vehicle. I am in shock that this came out of nowhere. Again, I drove the car a few days before leaving it parked in a safe location and it's mainly driven by me and there was absolutely no indication something was even remotely wrong.
Same as many other people, Traction Control. When making slow left hand turns Traction Control warning light comes on and complete power loss with engine still running. I have discovered if I lift my foot off gas pedal and quickly return it I regain power. This is dangerous as many other folks have reported. The fear of a side impact is always on my mind. Not confirmed by dealer as it does happen on every turn. Finally yes available for inspection any time.
Stopped at a red light stepped on gas to go on the green and car had shut off. Two or three tries later the car restarted. Scary with traffic coming from behind . This is the third time this has happened.
I started up my Renegade as usual and when I got to the stop sign at the end of my street, I had a message on the screen telling me to press the break and push the start button. I never turned my car off. No check engine lights before or after this incident.
The vehicle just stalls out with no warning. Just shuts off. After a few attempts the car restarted however stalled out again.
This has occurred ever since I’ve bought my car, and not every time. When car is at a slight incline and at a stop, it will not accelerate. Gas cap broke off for no reason. Dealership rep said that’s happened to someone else too. Chip for airbag sensors are not available.
Oil consumption, electrical problems like lights flickering, fuel odor, brake light olways on
In April of 2020 and at 41,800 miles, my vehicle was experiencing very significant vibration and noise from my engine and had become unbearable. I learned, from taking the vehicle to the Dealer, that the Passenger Side Engine Mount was defective - leading to instability under the hood. The Dealer, 'off record' indicated there was a known defect and that they were replacing a fair amount of the mounts for those customers who recognized that there may be a problem. The Dealer wanted $600+ to replace the Engine Mount! I believed an item like that (part of the drivetrain system) should be replaced for free by the manufacturer. However, I purchased the Engine Mount (Part #6841 8168 AA -001) and Bolts and replaced the Mount myself. In addition, I contacted FCA and they reimbursed me for the $241.68 expense. Most unfortunately, again, at 55,231miles the replacement (FCA Part) Engine Mount FAILED - creating incredible vibration and noise!! Again, I purchased another replacement FCA Engine Mount, Bolts and installed the replacement Engine Mount myself. I have tried to reach-out to FCA utilizing the e-mail address that they communicated with me back in 04/2020, although FCA is not responding. This issue, that of a potentially factory defective Primary Engine Mount design, can be a very significant issue as it supports and/or impacts the Drive Train System. The question must be asked, what could happen with the vehicle for those drivers who do not recognize an ever (but slowly) increasing noise and vibration until it is too late?? I would respectfully request NHTSA consider a recall mandate for this item for which FCA should be required to re-design the part and offer free replacements.
while driving, car comes to a complete stop and stalls when accelerating. dangerous during oncoming traffic whether it's the pedestrian or the cars surrounding me. car won't move instantly upon pressing on gas pedal-- it stalls for a bit before moving.
Jeep lost acceleration and died in the middle of the road. Fortunately I had just gotten off the freeway or we could have been seriously injured. No warning or check engine lights illuminated, it just completely lost the acceleration and died in the road.
The radiator fan will stop working or work intermittently. If it's not running when the temp gets up you have to manually Spin The Fan then it will engage. It is prone to overheating while idling or moving slow. I have replaced the fan on a active recall for this model three times already. The fans usually last from anywhere from 4 months to a 8 months.
there were no warnings on the vehicle to indicate a problem occurring. coming from a complete stop there is a delay in accelerating to speed - feels like a stall and the pedal is not receiving any gas... but the tank is full. dealership never found any issues nor were able to reproduce the same problem. this problem happens multiple times a year. this is dangerous for driving as i'm unable to get to full speed in traffic.
UNKNOWN I was recently sold a vehicle that I feel should be under the "safe car" issues. The engine cooling fan. If an engine cooling fan is not working right, this can cause the engine to overheat and the potential exists for a vehicle fire. How is that not a safety issue? Two Manufacturer recalls on the Jeep Renegade 2016: #V54 2015-2017 VM BU FB ENGINE COOLING FAN #W20 2013-2019 Mutli Vehicle 2.4 Reprogram PCM PH1 I bought a car not realizing the signficance of these recalls which were not explained to me at the time of purchase. Neither recall repairs were done by the previous owner. I feel the engine cooling fan is a serious safety issue yet it is not listed on your website. This means other unsuspecting buyers can purchase cars without salespeople being required to disclose detailed recall information. Nor whether or not this recall was taken care of by the previous owner. In my case, it was not.
Had this car since 2016,only 39,289miles,no problems whatsoever,and then I did this recall thing the 12th of July 2021,and today the 14th of July 2021 I have an engine light on,I have this horrible noise when I turn it on,I am so pissed and mad!!!really mad!!!Techs should not touch anything else than whats is called for to be fixed!!!i feel that when we take the cars they mess things out so we,the customers have to end up putting money since is free,they need customers to go back and spend on something that it didn’t needed it from the beginning!!!like I said 6yrs and not a problem,even have a multi point inspection sheet that it shows everything was great!!!i am scare to take back,because now I’m going to end up paying for their mistakes/fault/unprofessional work.I am so disappointed,upset,mad.I was planning to buy there again,but now I’m re thinking bout it!it won’t get fixed I know I will end up paying,but I want to make a complaint so that way at least it will pile with other people who end up having the same problems!why do Mechanics do that,or Techs do it!if is not broken,don’t fix it please.They should take an integrity test and not take advantage of the situation.
The 'Service Engine' light came on and the vehicle overheated 400 miles from home. The servicing Jeep dealer (Vision Jeep in Rochester, NY) stated the engine cooling fan failed, in the same manner as noted in Recall Campaign v54 for the cooling fan in 2015-2017 Jeep Renegades. My car is a 2016 Renegade, and the service manager was surprised my VIN was not included in the recall. He stated it failed in the same way as other recall repairs they did for the same model car, and was the same part that failed. I firmly believe it was a mistake that my VIN wasn't included, despite the model and year of my car being in the range of the cars for recall v54.
THIS CAR COMES ALMOST TO A DEAD STOP AND STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING. ITS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT WILL STALL RIGHT AS I'M ENTERING TRAFFIC AND ATTEMPTING TO GET UP TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC DURING A TIME WHEN ALL OTHER CARS AROUND ME ARE ALSO ACCELERATING, IT'S HAPPENED SINCE THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT THE JEEP I'VE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT. THESE ENGINES SHOULD BE RECALLED.
HAVING TO PUT OIL IN A MONTH AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. RENEGADE IS DRIVEN 40 HIGHWAY MILES A DAY 5 TIMES A WEEK. ALSO THE COOLANT LIGHT SHOOTS UP TO HOT SUDDENLY THEN BACK DOWN WHILE IDLING IN PARK.

THE CAR ENGINE SHUTS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AUTONATION 3 MONTHS AGO. I NOTICED THE OIL LOW PRESSURE JUST STARTED TO COME WITH THE SHUTDOWN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE I FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS ONLINE.

SOMETIMES THE LOW OIL GAUGE COMES ON, BUT THE VEHICLE IS UP TO DATE WITH OIL CHANGES. VERY UNSAFE FOR VEHICLE TO JUST "STOP MOVING" OR "SHUT OFF" IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS, BUT NOW IT IS DAILY.

NOTICE A CHANGE OIL LIGHT STARTED POPPING UP ALTHOUGH I DID NOT NEED TO CHANGE OIL ACCORDING TO RECORDS I WAS NOT DUE TO CHANGE OIL UNTIL ANOTHER THREE MONTHS, I ONLY BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND 4900 SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN JULY 2020, THEIR LAST SERVICE WAS DONE AT THE DEALER ON JULY 6 2020 WHICH INCLUDED OIL CHANGE. ITS ON THE SERVICE HISTORY RECORD. I ALSO STARTED NOTICING A BURNING SMELL WHEN I GOT OUT MY VEHICLE SO I DECIDED TO CHECK MY OIL LEVEL AND TO MY SURPRISE I WAS 2 QUARTS LOW AT ONLY 58213 MILES THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I CALLED AND SCHEDULED TO GET IT LOOKED AT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, SO WHY NOT A COURTESY CALL TO THE CONSUMER? I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT. I CAN UNDERSTAND IF THE VEHICLE ISSUED A WARNING LIGHT THAT STAYS ON AND WON'T GO AWAY THEN I WOULD OF DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT, BUT IT WAS JUST A CHANGE OIL LIGHT AND WENT AWAY SO I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST REMINDING ME AND BEING THAT I WAS GETTING CLOSE TO 58,000 AND AGAIN ONLY BEEN DRIVING IT OVER 4,000 MILES SINCE LAST OIL SERVICE. MY FEAR IS THE DEALER MAY TRY AND HOLD ME LIABLE AND HAVE TO PAY FOR SERVICE FOR THE ISSUE BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE IN RIGHT AWAY WHEN I SAW THE OIL SERVICE LIGHT FIRST APPEAR.

MY JEEP IS 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS 55,000 MILES. I LEASED IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE BEEN THE ONLY DRIVER. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE A/C IS HISSING AND NOT BLOWING COLD. I HAVE CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT HELP ME SINCE IT IS OUT OF THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND IT SUPPOSEDLY HAS A LEAK IN THE CONDENSER AND ANOTHER HOSE.. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. THIS IS NOT NORMAL TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE MILES ARE SO LOW AND IT HAS BEEN CARED FOR SO WELL. I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO FAULTY MANUFACTURING OR PARTS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BURNING OIL AT AN ABNORMAL RATE. I HAVE TO TOP IT OFF SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. IT ALSO RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH WHEN IN DRIVE/REVERSE, BUT NOT MOVING(STOP SIGNS, DRIVE THROUGHS). IF I PUT IT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL, IT RUNS FINE. OCCASIONALLY, IT WILL STALL OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I'VE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE. THEY UPDATED THE ECU AND TCU, BUT IT DIDN'T RESOLVE IT. MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY NOW.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR LOSES POWER AND THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" APPEARS THEN THE CAR STALLS. THE CAR WAS TRAVELING LESS THAN 25MPH.THE CAR MAY OR MAY NOT START AFTERWARDS. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED BUT THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAS STRANDED ME. IT DOESN'T MATTER THE OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH UP A MINOR INCLINE, THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING/CHUGGING AND THEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STOPPED RESPONDING. VEHICLE STALLED AND COASTED TO STOP WHERE THE IDLE WAS ROUGH AND THEN DIED. INITIALLY, WOULD RESTART, BUT THEN STALL OUT. FOR THE NEXT 3 HOURS (WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW), THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS FLAKING OUT - INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING ANY ERROR IN ITS WHEELHOUSE. RESTARTED NEXT DAY AND IDLE VERY ROUGH/MISFIRING, ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING AND DECENT CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE GENERATED. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AND ENTERING THE ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IT APPEARED THE GAS PEDDLE WAS INACTIVE AND THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. IT NOTIFIED ME WITH A LIGHT "ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL" THEN THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT BACK INTO GEAR. I WAS CONCERNED BUT WAS LEAD TO BELIEVE THIS WAS PART OF THE DESIGN. SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO REASON AT 25K MILES THE BATTERY SUDDENLY DIED. ALL LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CAR. IT HAD NO POWER AND WOULD NOT TURN ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID "THE BATTERY JUST FAILED". IN AUG I WAS SHOCKED TO TURN ON THE CAR AND HAVE A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "CHANGE OIL" WELL BEFORE AN OIL CHANGE IS DUE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD SEEN THIS LIGHT BECAUSE I AM ALWAYS ON TIME WITH CAR MAINTENANCE. THE $84.77 SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN SPENT ON AN UNNECESSARY OIL CHANGE, IF THIS CONTINUES I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE CONSTANT OIL CHANGES. MOSTLY RECENTLY AND MOST CONCERNING ON TUESDAY THE 29TH OF SEP. I WAS LEAVING FOR A MEDICAL APPOINTMENT AND WHEN I TURNED ON THE CAR IT SAID EVERY LIGHT IN THE CAR WAS OUT. MY NEIGHBOR CAME OVER AND VERIFIED THAT I WAS MISSING SEVERAL LIGHTS. THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE AND I WAS STRANDED. I WAS ABLE TO GET A RIDE, BUT WHEN I GOT HOME A FEW HOURS LATER, I TURNED ON THE CAR AND ALL THE LIGHTS WORKED PERFECTLY FINE. IT FIRST APPEARED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AT 40MPH, AND NOW APPEARS AT ALL TIMES. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A 3.5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE.

IT'S BECOME A HAZZARD SINCE THE CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT TURN ON EVEN WITH A JUMP START FROM A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WILL BECOME DEAD 100 PERCENT. ONLY LIGHTS TURN IN AT TIMES UNTIL BATTERY GETS DRAINED OUT. THEN NOTHING WORKS.

NO CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS INDICATED. THE SHIFTER REMAINED IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE CAR HAD TO BE GUIDED OFF THE ROADWAY AND PLACED INTO PARK TO BE RESTARTED. VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO RESTART BOTH TIMES. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED AFTER ENTERING A HIGHWAY INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATING AND PRESENTED A DANGER TO ALL DRIVERS.

FEELS LIKE HALF OF CYLINDERS ARE FIRING. CHRYSLER KNOWS IT'S A FAULTY THERMOSTAT. LEFT ME STRANDED 2 WINTERS STRAIGHT. THERMOSTAT OPERATES NORMALLY DURING SPRING/SUMMER. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THE TECHNICIANS AT DAVID STANLEY DODGE IN MIDWEST CITY, OK SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH BOTH ISSUES. REFUSED TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WILL COST NEARLY $1000 TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX. I PUT TODAY'S DATE IN, BUT IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. WITH THE THERMOSTAT PROBLEM AND THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DASH THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THESE ISSUES ARE RAMPANT AND ALL OVER THE FORUMS. HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES WHEN CAR WAS STARTED AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT TO D AND/OR R AND CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 JEEP RENEGADE LATITUDE (2.4 LITER) WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED ON ME. BEFORE IT STALLED I WAS STOPPED IN WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS A MICHIGAN LEFT. ONCE TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR I STARTED MY TURN AND AS I STARTED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT MY WHEEL, A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO A BUSINESS. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THEN STARTED TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR WHEN I NOTICED NO RESPONSE. I PUSHED A LITTLE MORE AND REALIZED THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED THE VEHICLE BACK TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THERE WAS A GAS STATION NEAR SO I HEADED THERE. AS I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO THE GAS STATION (SLIGHT INCLINED DRIVEWAY) I NOTICED A QUICK FLASH ABOUT OIL. I PARKED AT A PUMP AND POPPED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE OIL. TO MY SURPRISE I WAS GETTING VERY LITTLE TO NOTHING ON THE DIP STICK. I CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT WAS THE SAME READING. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON JULY 18, 2019. I HADN'T EVEN HIT THE NEXT SERVICE DATE (5,000-6,000 MILES) AND THERE HAD BEEN NO LEAKS THEY I HAD SEEN UNDER MY VEHICLE OR ANY ABNORMAL EXHAUST SMOKE (OIL BURNING) IN ANY OF THE TIME DRIVING THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 48,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE THE END OF JUNE. THIS STRUCK ME AS ODD AS I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY VEHICLE CONSUME THIS MUCH OIL WITH OUT SOME TYPE OF NOTICEABLE LEAK OR BURNING OF THE OIL. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT PRIOR TO THIS EVENT ABOUT OIL DESPITE THERE BEING LITTLE TO NO READING OF OIL ON THE DIPSTICK.

THE CONTACT LIFTED THE HOOD AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL ALONG WITH A SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND IT IS DANGEROUSLY UNSAFE. THE CAR WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP ALREADY THIS SUMMER FOR WEEKS FOR ELECTRICAL LIGHTS GOING OFF AND THE CAR CONTINUING TO RUN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS THE 1ST ISSUE, THE BIGGEST STRESSOR IS THE FACT THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND CHRYSLER WON'T SHIP MY MECHANIC THE PART FOR 3 WEEKS. YES 3 WEEKS WITHOUT A VEHICLE, LOST WAGES, AND MISSED CLASSES BECAUSE I HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING TO CLASS FOR NURSING SCHOOL. I HAD A RENTAL CAR THAT I WAS PAYING $27 DOLLARS A DAY BUT AFTER 1.5 WEEKS, I CAN'T AFFORD THAT PLUS THE $800+ REPAIR SO I RETURNED IT. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND REPORTED IT.TODAY IT HAPPENED FOR A SECOND TIME AUG. 2019 VEHICLE HAD BEEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING CONSTANTLY AROUND 10-20 MPH FOR ABOUT 30 MILES AS ELEVATION WAS GAINED, VERY HOT TEMPS IN 90'S.AC ON. ALL LOSS OF POWER, NO WARNING LIGHTS, VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. UPON RESTART CAR IS PARKED FOR ABOUT HOUR. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IM GOING TO DO WITH THIS $35,000 LEMON. LUCKILY, I GOT THIS REPLACED BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED, BUT I'VE SPOKEN WITH NUMEROUS OTHER RENEGADE OWNERS WHO HAD THE VEHICLES BREAK DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO SHOPS FOR REPAIRS. I DID HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT BECAUSE I TOOK IT TO SHOP NEAR ME (FOR FEAR OF DRIVING IT) INSTEAD OF THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ONLY COVERED PART OF THE REPAIR WHICH WAS ABOUT $200 OUT OF MY $550 BILL. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I DETERMINED IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE RADIATOR FAN THAT HAD EITHER COME LOOSE OR WAS BENT. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL DUE TO THE MULTIPLE ONLINE COMPLAINTS. OF COURSE IT HAPPENS RIGHT PAST THE ORIGINAL WARRANT EXPIRATION SO THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. THE COST TO FIX THIS WAS $620 AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY WHOLE FAN ASSEMBLY.

WHEN I WAS IN TRAFFIC I HAD TO BLAST THE HEAT BECAUSE THE TEMP GAUGE WOULD GO RED. I CHECKED THE FUSE IT WAS BLOWN SO IT WAS CHANGED AND STILL NO FAN. SO I FIGURED IT'S THE COOLANT FAN RELAY AND THEY AREN'T EASY TO LOCATE. AUTO PARTS STORE AND JEEP PARTS AT THE DEALERSHIP ARE HARD TO TALK TO BECAUSE IT IS A FIAT PART. YOU WOULD THINK THE 2JEEP DEALERSHIPS THAT SELL THEM WOULD KNOW THAT. NOW I SEE THAT A TON OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND NEEDED THE FULL FAN ASSEMBLE REPLACED AND A NEW THERMOSTAT..I DO NOT HAVE MONEY FOR THIS. WHY NO RECALL

WAS JUST AT DEALERSHIP THE WEEK BEFORE AND THEY DID THEIR MULTIPOINT INSPECTION AND MARKED OIL AS FULL? SO IN A WEEK IT LOST 5 QUARTS OF OIL? WAS TOWED AGAIN AND SAT AT DEALERSHIP FOR TWO WEEKS AS THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT ENGINE KNOCKING SOUND! THAN THEY CALL AND SAID EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE!??. DROVE HOME SMELLING BURNT OIL AS ALWAYS SINCE NEW AND CHECKED DIPSTICK, THEY OVERFILLED IT BY AT LEAST A QUART! UNBELIEVABLE. FAILURE CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND COULD RESULT IN A BLOWN MOTOR AND/OR OTHER DAMAGES RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I'M GLAD I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BEFORE ANYTHING MAJOR HAPPEND. THESE FANS SHOULD BE LIVING A 100,000 MILE LIFE. BUT IT'S HAPPENING AT 30,000-70,000 MILES. SO WELL KNOWN THE PARTS HAVE BEEN ON BACK ORDER BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLE. HOW QUICKLY THE ENGINE SMOKES AND FAULTERS IS A SAFETY HAZZARD. THE VEHICLE QUICKLY STOPS WORKING DUE TO THIS ISSUE POTENTIALLY STRANDING PASSENGERS ON HIGHWAYS OR IN AREAS UNACCESSIBLE BY HELP BECAUSE IT IS AN OFFROAD VEHICLE.

I DECIDE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, AND I NOTICE THAT THE NOISE CAME FROM THE FAN BECAUSE IT WAS STILL RUNNING UNTIL IT STOP. SO, I DECIDED TO OPEN THE HOOD AND TURN ON AGAIN THE ENGINE, WHEN I TOOK A LOOK I NOTICE THAT THE FAN WAS WOBBLING SO MUCH AND IT WAS HITTING SOME OTHER PARTS, IMMEDIATELY I KNEW THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THAT PART SO I DID A RESEARCH ABOUT THE CAR AND FOUND THAT SOME OTHER PERSONS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. LATER, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CAR ONLY HAVE ONE YEAR AND IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER CHECKED MY CAR AND SAYS TO ME THAT THEY HAD A COUPLE OF THE SAME CARS A FEW WEEKS AGO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THEY SAYS THAT I NEED TO WAIT THREE WEEKS FOR THE REPLACEMENT, AND THAT IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS IF I DRIVE THE CAR IN THAT CONDITION BECAUSE I COULD HAVE AN ACCIDENT. SO, I CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE (800-992-1997), AND I TRIED TO HAVE A BETTER SOLUTION TO PROBLEM, BECAUSE I NEED TO GO TO MY WORK, AND SAYS THAT I COULD DO A RENTAL OUT OF POCKET AND SUBMIT THE CLAIM WITH A "POSSIBLEREIMBURSE.

2016 JEEP RENEGADE TRAILHAWK LOSS OF POWER ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, TURNING/MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FORM A SLOWED/STOPPED POSITION, VEHICLE STOPPING UP HILL. 13,200 MILES THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT ON, ENGINE POWERED DOWN TWICE WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP & TURNING LEFT W/ SLIGHT INCLINE, ONCE GOING STRAIGHT ACROSS A 2-LANE HWY, & ENGINE POWERING DOWN WHEN MERGING. DEALERSHIP SAID DUE TO AN UPDATE NEEDED. TWO WKS AFTER THE UPDATE, ENGINE POWERS DOWN MAKING A RIGHT TURN FORM A STOP SIGN. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T REPLICATE & TOLD TO DRIVE CAREFUL. A FEW WKS LATER, I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. I MADE A LEFT-HAND TURN W/ AN INCLINE. AS I STARTED ACCELERATING, THE RENEGADE SUDDENLY LOST SPEED & CEASED TO MOVE AS I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PETAL. THOSE FEW SECONDS OF PULLING OUT W/ ONCOMING TRAFFIC COULD QUICKLY LEAD TO A WRECK WHEN YOU LOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I FELT A GREAT DEAL OF PANIC, DISTRUST OF MY RENEGADE. I FEARED FOR MY SAFETY. I TAKE THE RENEGADE BACK TO THE SHOP NO REAL RESOLVE. I WAS DRIVING UP A STEEP HILL AT WHICH TIME MY RENEGADE COMPLETELY STOPPED AS I WAS NEARING THE TOP OF THE HILL. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THIS WAS TERRIFYING TO SAY THE LEAST! WHEN THE RENEGADE STOPPED, I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE ANYONE FOLLOWING BEHIND ME. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE ANGLE & STEEPNESS OF THE HILL, I WAS PANICKED THE RENEGADE WOULD ROLL DOWN. I NEVER PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK & CONTINUED TO PUMP THE GAS. AFTER ABOUT 5 PUMPS ON THE GAS, THE RENEGADE BEGAN TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE. I WAS GOING AT A RATE OF SPEED OF AROUND 30MPH, 1/4 OF TANK OF GAS, & DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10 MINS BEFORE INCIDENT. CHRYSLER ISN'T TAKING THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT W/ THEM ON A CORP. LEVEL AS WELL. THE RENEGADE HAS HAD 3 MORE INCIDENTS OF LOSING POWER WHEN ACCELERATING IN A TURN FROM A STOP. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE & AM STUCK W/ AN UNTRUSTWORTHY NEW VEHICLE.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN FOR THE FAILURE THAT RECURRED AT 1,300 MILES, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTIFY ANYONE THE FIRST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.

THE VEHICLE WILL DRIVE FINE THEN IT POWERS DOWN AND STALLS WHILE MOVING. THE RESTART PROCEDURE IS TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PRESS THE BRAKE THE PUSH THE ENGINE RUN BUTTON. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND HAS HAPPENED IN INTERSECTIONS. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD ME THE ENGINE IS DEFECTIVE DUE TO THE CASTING PROCESS WHICH CAUSES IT TO LOSE OIL THAT LEAKS INTO THE ENGINE SOMEWHERE AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SHUTDOWN EVEN WHILE MOVING. THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENGINE BUT AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE I CAN'T BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER.

THIS WAY IF CONDITION IS NOT RESOLVED, I WILL KNOW IF COIL IS BAD OR ENGINE HAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. RFH FLASHED AND ABS FLASHED" THEY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME AND SAID IT WAS FIXED AND SAFE. UPON DRIVING TO WORK AT 5 AM, IN THE DARK, I HAD NO EXTERIOR LIGHTS AND COULD ONLY USE MY HIGH BEAMS IF I HELD THEM ON. I HAD NO BACK LIGHTS. CARS APPROACHED VERY CLOSE TO MY CAR AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY. WHEN I GOT TO WORK, I HAD ANOTHER WORKER CHECK THE BACK OF MY CAR AND THERE WERE NO BACK LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS.
