It began with vehicle warning lights, several, illuminating. They did not illuminate at exactly the same time (such as when a car stalls) they illuminated consecutively i.e Airbag disabled, followed by, blind spot sensors unavailable, front collision, lane departure, power steering temporarily unavailable, park assist, lane departure... all unavailable. Finally, the check engine light. Driving 65 mph until the transmission decided to no longer shift properly, which resulted in driving 45 in an 70 mph zone. Turned off vehicle and restarted, it was fine for 50 miles and began the dashboard light show again, followed by almost stalling at a toll booth. It has been "repaired" 3 times in 3 months, by Chrysler Jeep . Including a new BCM. I believe this 2017 Renegade either was not recalled during the original recall in 2017 or 2018, was not repaired, or was repaired improperly. Everything else operates properly. My vehicle is in great shape. I have video documentation of these things happening. No photos though. I do have documentation from Chrysler Jeep, just not with me at the moment.

I was driving down the road and my latched my sky roof panel flew up in the air while I was driving. Thankfully it stayed attached to the latch and I pulled off the road quickly so the entire panel did not fly off into traffic. I was also only driving 35 miles per hour so that helped too.

Unknown this vehicle shuts off while in drive when it says it needs an oil change or if the oil is low. It doesn't even give you the warning before, it just shuts off while your driving. This has happened to me many times where I've almost been in an accident. Most recently today when in my kids school drop off line. It just completely shut.

The rear windows do not properly stop causing damage to the rubber window/door frame. When put up, they pass through the insert ripping the rubber trim. This also causes a space in the bottom of the window a child can stick their finger through. If not aware, when the window is lowered a finger can be severely broken

Engine malfunction with unpredictable times of hard shift jolting. It's a concern while driving and frightened when it happens. Not sure if this could get worse and could be a safety risk. Took to a dealer. Did not act up when they checked it. It has to be driven all the time to catch when it decides to act up. Happens between 2 to 3 and down from 4th to 3rd gear. No engine light indicates a problem. When I had other things fixed, I had mechanic to check it out. Invoice mentioned what was fixed but nothing stating about them running a test on what I have additionally been experiencing with the jolt as it shifts since it didn't do it at the time. Had transmission flushed hoping it would help but still does it.

My oil light indicator came on month after I had my oil changed. The jeep literally shut off on me when I was driving on a MAIN road at 45 miles an hour. This happened to me 3 times yesterday I had no safe place to pull over. I was stuck in the middle of the road with hazards on hoping no one would crash into me! I looked up recalls for my jeep and there is a recall for a cracked oil component on this jeep. But it's saying no recalls on my jeep! I looked at the symptoms of it and did some research and apparently the car shutting off is a symptom of that. I bought this jeep last year and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to diagnosis the problem but always ended up with an oil change a month after I've already had one. Im terrified this will happen again.

The first generation with the 1.4l turbo engine. Had two air lines coming off of the air filter container. They are solid and break when the dealer does the courtesy check during oil changes. It is a common problem showing online and the dealers do not take responsibility for it

1st issue was the a/c unit which mechanic said was a factory defective part. Replaced under warranty & now is not working again. 2nd issue is coolant & flushing system. replaced las year & mechanic said it was a factory defective part. This was 2 different mechanics. I just had my car overheat on me again nearly a year later with sludge in the tank AGAIN. I AM PAYONG WAYYYYY TOO MUCH MONEY for this to be on me again! I need repairs done at your cost and a car to drive.

I was driving and all of a sudden the “Service Transmission” light came on and my car would not go past the first gear. The light went off and my car went back to normal. It has been doing this on and off for about 4 days. I took it to Landers Chrysler Jeep and Dodge of Norman Oklahoma and they did a diagnostic. They said it needs a software update but they refused to fix it. I took it to a mechanic and they stated that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the transmission, it is completely software related.

Car stalled in the middle of the busy road with no warning when accelerating from a right turn between 12-24 mph and a "low oil pressure sensor" light displayed and disappeared for 3 seconds. Received oil change that day and Valvoline did not mention any concerns about oil level. The next day, my car had been driving for 10+ min and struggled to accelerate out of light, specifically in range of 30-45 mph and the RPMs shot up to 3000. Car kept running but struggled to down shift. Terrified of this happening on my daily interstate and state roads drive, especially in winter!!! Taking to dealership service department to hopefully get this huge safety issue fixed.

There is something wrong with the oil system. My 2017 Jeep Renegade burns through the oil, really bad. At approx 25,000 miles, I took it to the dealership, they ran a test and said I am within specs of burning a quart of oil for every 600 miles. What?? On a brand new vehicle? I have also experienced the vehicle shutting down in the middle of the highway! Dangerous and Scary! I will be driving along and all of a sudden the vehicle just shuts down, it takes a couple attempts to get it restarted. I put in a 1/2-1 quart of oil and it runs again. This shutting off in the middle of the road has been happening since 25,000 miles and I now have 119,000 miles.

My 2017 Jeep Renegade limited with under 24k miles sky view stopped working. While attempting to close the sky view the process was sluggish, and struggled to close. I brought the vehicle to Princeton ChryslerJeep dealership om 5/3/23 where I purchased. I was instructed that they would assess the situation for 163.00 dollars and that would be applied to the repair . Much to my surprise I was instructed that the diagnostic test preformed found it was the motor component in the sky view that needed to be replaced. The dealership noted that the whole sky view needed to be replaced at an outside body shop for 6,500 dollars. The design would not allow a component to be replaced for repair. So the total cost would literally be 1/3 value of the car due to inferior design and no fault of the owner. My concern is why this is not covered when it was cleary a faulty design. and why was I charged 163 dollars for a 3 minute diagnostic test when obviously the dealer new of other issues jeep experienced with the sky view. (multiple complains on line. No warnings or symptoms leading up to sky view issue. Also took my jeep to dealer for regular oil change and maintence

The vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions (thankfully not on the highway). I have noticed it burns oil and I always have to carry extra oil bottles with me. Once it stalls, I know I have to put in more oil. My safety and others have been put on risk because the car randomly stalls and stops in the middle of the road, making it possible and high risk for accident where myself and others could be injured. We were in a HEAD ON COLLISION and our airbags never deployed, if they had my daughter and I would have Significantly less bodily injuries and trauma!! -No warning lamps or messages appeared before or after impact -yes vehicle has been inspected by police, insurance reps, auto service center rep, lawyer I was driving our newly purchased (owned less then 30 days with 17882 miles) 2017 Jeep Renegade with my teenage daughter at 4:38pm rain was present traveling straight through an green light intersection I had the right a way when another car traveling towards us attempting to turn left failed to yield for us and hit us head on bouncing off and hitting us again at a high rate of speed. Airbags NEVER deployed

Vehicle started from cold and as I was going to reverse, overheating warning light came on and the engine shut off. Scary, if this would have happened on the road or worse on the freeway I could have caused an accident. After I attempted to start it, and all warning lights came on and shut down again. this happened on 1-13-23. Vehicle had not been driven.

When driving down Interstate 35, my vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic. I was able to coast to the shoulder of the interstate. Once I was out of harms way, I attempted to start my vehicle again; it would start, but at any attempt to put transmission in drive, it would stall. After the vehicle sat for approximately 10 mins, the vehicle started and I continued to my destination with no problems. Two days later, the same thing happened when taking my grandchildren to school. The vehicle stalled in the middle of the road; a Good Samaritan helped me push the vehicle out of the road. Once again, after several attempts to start it, the vehicle would die when trying to put in drive, but after a short time, it started and continued with no problems. Due to multiple electronic, wiring, and unexplainable issues I have had with this vehicle in the past, I began researching issues others had reported to various sites, and it was the first time I had seen an option to report to NHTSA. I had a similar issue in March of last year; my vehicle was at three different shops. The first two could not determine how to fix it. The third shop (after weeks of trying to determine the problem) replaced an ignition coil. It ran good until this incident. This is most definitely a safety concern as it happens unexpectedly with no warning at all.

I was driving and the car was just gliding down the road as if it wasn’t on. Had hard time getting to side of the road. Tried shutting off wouldn’t work. Finally did. Got it started again went right home. Husband checked oil and there was nothing in it. Oil light never came on. No oil on ground

While accelerating at a certain speed and letting go of the pedal the vehicle stalls causing a loud cluck sound depending of the speed of the acceleration. I am not sure if this issue will cause the vehicle to break down or cause other problems in the near future. In the beginning of November 2022, the drivers side has been making clunking noises when ever I reverse and while slowly taking from. It is Nov 25, and I have been told is the struts that have signs of defective because of the tires wearing down from the inner side. Also, I was told by a different mechanic the motor mount may be loose, and now the wheel bearing. I've replaced the wheel bearing on the driver's side and the noise has not completely left but the replacement helped. I am hoping the struts make the difference along with swapping to street tires.

The windows on the Jeep Renegades over extend when putting them up, thereby tearing out the top of the housing causing leaks and possible electrical damage in the door panels. This also creates a whistle noise coming through the torn housing when driving. The AC works harder to heat and cool the cabin because of the poor air seal, causing drivers to burn more fuel and stress the components of the vehicle. I called my service department and got quoted me over $800 for two window seal repairs. He also told me that he see this on nearly every Jeep Renegade that comes in for service. This is a problem Jeep should be aware of as it is costing their customers expensive repairs. I purchased this car (2017 Jeep Renegade Latitude 2.4) November 2021 and noticed the problem after the purchase so, this problem was existing prior to my ownership.

I was driving at highway speeds on I40 going through New Mexico up a hill with outside temperatures around 100degrees F when the car stopped accelerating. My speed continued decreasing despite me pushing the gas pedal. The engine stalled, the transmission and engine lights appeared on the display. I was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road at which point it would start but wouldn’t drive for more than 10-20 seconds without stalling. At one point the car was going in Reverse despite being shifted in D. This happened one other time a couple years ago while driving outside of Estes Park and the Jeep was taken to a local dealer and then to the dealer I purchased from and they were unable to replicate the issue or find a code. They replaced the shifter assembly. I hadn’t driven it in high heat and elevation again until recently.

The hose that holds the widow wiper fluid is made of cheap plastic and has cracked and leaks badly on the drivers side of the passengers section. I found a YouTube video wher the exact same thing happened to someone else car. Same model same problem and can cause other water damage. I have a video.

I have experienced innumerable incidents where my car jolts while I am driving. I have had passengers describe it as if the engine is stalling for a second or the transmission is failing and then instantly recovering. The best I can describe the feeling is as if the car hiccups. It occurs at least once a week, sometimes multiple times a day. It is intermittent and unpredictable. It has occurred at a variety of speeds, on surface street, freeways, etc. Also at varying temperatures throughout the day. I believe it only occurs during acceleration, not while breaking. I bought the car new and have taken it into the Jeep dealership but they did not find anything because the issue did not occur on their test drive. A few weeks ago, my engine was replaced due to a separate recall and I had hoped that it would simultaneously fix this problem but it has continued to happen, if not at the same rate then more frequently. As of yet, there have been no accidents caused by it but it makes me feel uneasy and distrustful of my vehicle. I fear for my safety and those around me if the issue worsens.

The cable for the hood latch snapped. This is an issue because if the vehicle breaks down at the side of the road or needs a jump start in a lot etc, the hood will not open. This can cause risk of exposure as well as prolonged stay on the shoulder of the road. Mechanic at Autonation reported that he has seen this issue with multiple Jeep Renegades, which is alarming. No lights or indications are made by the vehicle informing owner of the issue.

Oil pan is so rusted that it leaks.After doing an oil change the oil pan was seen to be leaking.I would think an oil pan should not be so rusted that big flakes of rust would be falling off.The whole pan is coated in rust. I have a 2008 Patriot that has less rust then the 2017. This does not make sense.My Jeep dealer said he has seen this and is more common then you would think.Is it just a case that Jeep is now making cheaper products?

I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND A NEW FAN ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED. THE JEEP IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND HAS 39,232 MILES ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS IS I FIND OUT THAT AT LEAST 66 OTHER 2017 JEEP REMEGADE OWNERS HAVE HAD THEIR RADIATOR FANS GO OUT AT 40,000 MILES. THIS ISN'T AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND THE PART HAS TO BE RECALLED. CHRYSTLER AND JEEP ARE UNHELPFUL AND UNWILLING TO ADMIT TO THE PROBLEM.

WHILLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND DESCENDING A SMALL HILL THE VEHICLE "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" ILLUMINATES, CHIMES AND THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION LOCKS INTO A RANDOM GEAR (TYPICALLY 3 OR 5TH GEAR) AND REMAINS IN THIS GEAR. IT HAPPENS OVER HALF OF THE TIME AND RESULTS IN A VERY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION AS THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY OR MAINTAIN ADEQUATE SPEED DEPENDING ON THE GEAR IN WHICH IT IS STUCK. THE VEHICLE HAS TO DODGE TRAFFIC AND PULL OVER IN A SAFE PLACE WHERE THE VEHICLE CAN BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, WHICH IN MOST CASES WILL RESET THE TRANSMISSION AND ALLOW IT TO FUNCTION CLOSER TO NORMAL. FCA IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DEALER HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO REMEDY THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR 6 MONTHS. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, THE TRANSMISSION, THE EVAP CANISTER AND THE FUEL PUMP. FCA AND THE DEALER ARE STATING THIS IS "NORMAL" FUNCTION AND THAT THE TURN OR THE HILL MUST BE EXTREME OPERATION. THIS IS HAPPENING AT A SLOW SPEED TURN OF 10-15 MPH. I HAVE VIDEO RECORDINGS WHICH HAVE BEEN SHARED WITH FCA AND THE DEALER AND I WOULD GLADLY SHARE WITH NHTSA. AS A FORMER VP AT A TIER ONE AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER, I CAN ASSURE YOU THIS IS NOT EXTREME OPERATION AND IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHICH THE MANUFACTURER IS UNWILLING TO RECTIFY. BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AT 5000 MILES. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE BCM REPLACEMENT, THE RADIO SYSTEM FROZE TWICE IN ONE WEEK. TWO WEEKS LATER, OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF IMMEDIATELY AFTER. AT 6100 MILES, CAR STALLED AT AROUND 35MPH, WARNING LIGHTS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED IN ORDER TO SWITCH GEARS. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND IS AN AUTOMATIC. AFTER THIS WARNING, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE ETC LIGHT. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, THEN RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES, WITH THE SAME RESULT. ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER, THEN AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS, WOULD TURN ON WITH THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DRIVE ABOUT 100 FT, ENGINE SPUTTERING AND LOW POWER, COULD NOT GET ENOUGH SPEED BEFORE STALLING AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING AGAIN, WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AND VEHICLE DROVE ALMOST NORMALLY FOR SEVERAL MILES AT LOW RPM, SOME HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING.

THE LUNGING FORWARD, AND HARD SHIFTING HAPPENS RANDOMLY PRIMARILY ON THE DOWNSHIFTING, AND WHEN IT'S COLD OUT. OTHER ISSUES: WHEN USING THE WASHER SOLVENT FLUID THE VAPORS COME BACK THROUGH THE CABIN, MAKING THE CABIN AIR TOXIC TO BREATH. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD HAD TO BE CHANGED; BECAUSE THEY WERE DEEMED DEFECTIVE DUE TO FINDING METAL DEBRIS IN THE BRAKE PAD AT ABOUT 3,100 MILES WHEN I REPORTED THE NOISE AT THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. ELECTRICAL: RANDOMLY THE PUSH START WILL NOT WORK, TURN SIGNAL TURNING RIGHT WILL NOT WORK, AND HEAD LIGHTS WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY COME ON. THIS 2017 JEEP RENEGADE LATITUDE 2.4L HAS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION, WASHER SOLVENT, AND BRAKES STARTED BEFORE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 3,118 MILES; HOWEVER, THE WASHER SOLVENT WAS NOT REPORT UNTIL LATER WHEN I FOUND OUT IT IS TOXIC, AND I ONLY USED IT ABOUT 3-TIMES, AND TURNED THE AIR OFF EACH TIME. ALL DEEMED UNABLE TO DUPLICATE EXCEPT FOR ONE TIME OR NORMAL FOR THE WASHER SOLVENT ISSUE.

THE AMOUNT OF VAPOR DRAWN INTO THE CABIN CAN BE REDUCED BY USING THE RECIRCULATE FUNCTION, BUT SOME STILL LEAKS IN AND WHEN DRIVING IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, OTHER VEHICLES THROW SALT AND OTHER DEBRIS ON YOUR WINDSHIELD CAUSING YOU TO IMMEDIATELY USE THE FLUID TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BREATH HARMFUL VAPORS IN. IN COLD WEATHER, IF YOU SET THE RECIRCULATE FUNCTION ON SO YOU WON'T BREATH THE VAPORS, THEN THE DEFROSTERS WON'T WORK AND YOUR WINDSHIELD CAN FOG OR ICE UP. THIS IS A HEALTH AND/OR DRIVING SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED OR SOMEONE WILL GET SICK AND/OR HURT.

THE FIRST INITIAL OCCURRENCE HAPPENED JUN 12TH 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE JEEP RENEGADE BEGAN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. IT THEN BEGAN TO JERK UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE VEHICLE ITSELF WOULD TURN OFF ON ITS OWN. SEVERAL ICONS CAME ON THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD ONE BEING A LIGHT BOLT SYMBOL AND THE OTHER INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN COMPLETELY RESOLVED. ON JULY 22, 2017 THE JEEP RENEGADE FOR THE SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND TURNED OFF AND LOST ITS COMPLETE POWER. I HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ENGAGE NO MATTER THE ATTEMPTS I WOULD TRY TO TURN ON THE RENEGADE. I WAITED FOR AWHILE UNTIL THE TOWING COMPANY CAME TO LOAD UP THE VEHICLE, DURING THIS TIME THE TOWING MAN COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN ON AND ENGAGE NO MATTER HOW MANY ATTEMPTS HE MADE. ON BOTH INCIDENTS MY FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND ON BOTH INCIDENTS THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN TRAVELING AT SPEED LIMITS ABOVE 50MPH. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURE JEEP, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP PERKINS MOTOR IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO. I AM CURRENTLY AN ACTIVE DUTY IN THE ARMY AND HAVE BEEN HAVING CONTINUOUS TROUBLE WITH THE JEEP. I DROPPED OFF THE JEEP RENEGADE AT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER APPROVED DEALERSHIP ON JULY 22, 2017 AND STILL TO THIS DATE AUGUST 19, 2017, THE DEALERSHIP STILL CANNOT FIND THE ROOT OF THE ISSUE. I FEAR THAT IF I WERE TO RECEIVE THE VEHICLE BACK UPON THE REPAIRS FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR THE SAME VEHICLE PROBLEM FROM JUN 12, 2017 THAT THE VEHICLE CAN CAUSE HARM TO EITHER SOME OTHER ROAD PEDESTRIAN, TO MY FAMILY, OR TO MYSELF THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO ACCELERATION WHILE STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS CONDITION LASTS APPROXIMATELY 3 - 5 SECONDS. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NEARLY REAR-ENDED ME AS MY VEHICLE SLOWED. THE DEALER HAS EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING A CONDITION THAT EXCEEDS A PARAMETER SET BY THE SOFTWARE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CODES "SET" BY THESE OCCURRENCES. THEY ARE A BIT UNNERVING AND A SAFETY CONCERN. THIS CONCERN BEGAN WHEN THE JEEP HAD APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I NOW HAVE 6700 AND THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS AUGUST 4, 2017.

THE FCW PLUS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY OR MAYBE NOT AT ALL. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY A WARNING SYSTEM WITH SENSITIVITY SETTINGS INCORPORATING BREAK AND VISUAL/AUDIBLE WARNINGS. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO INITIATE WELL IN ADVANCE OF A CRITICAL CIRCUMSTANCE. APPARENTLY WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES BEING AFFECTED BY THIS DEFECTIVE SYSTEM. CHRYSLER'S RESPONSE IS THAT THE SYSTEM WORKS BECAUSE DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE THAT IT IS WORKING AND NOT TO PHYSICALLY TEST THE SYSTEM AS YOU COULD CRASH THE CAR.
