HORN GOES ON & STAYS ON, WIPERS GO CONTINUOUSLY, WIPER FLUID FLOWS CONSTANTLY, BACK UP LIGHTS GO ON, HEATER FAN GOES OFF & ON, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE LAST TIME THE ABS CAME ON WHILE I WAS DELIVERING MAIL AND MY BRAKES LOCKED UP. ONCE IT HAPPENED WHILE PARKED ( THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITHOUT KEYS), ALL OTHER TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON RURAL ROADS AND IN DEVELOPMENTS, BOTH DRIVING HOME & DELIVERING MAIL. I HAVE VIDEO ON MY PHONE OF THE OCCURRENCE TWO SEPARATE TIMES.

MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER RHD CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS TURNING ONTO THE HWY AND DROVE A FEW FEET AND NOTICED SMOKE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD,SHUT THE CAR OFF AND POPPED THE HOOD. AS SOON AS I LIFTED THE HOOD I SAW FLAMES!! I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY'RE "SUPPOSED TO BE DOING AN INVESTIGATION". THERE WASN'T ANY KIND OF WARNING THE CAR WASN'T EVEN RUNNING ANY DIFFERENTLY. SCARY STUFF ESPECIALLY FROM A VEHICLE THAT WASN'T GIVING ME ANY PROBLEMS. DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST,BUT FOLKS NEED TO KNOW FOR SAFETY REASONS. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS!! *TR

2008 RHD JEEP WRANGLER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON MEANING AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. CLOCK SPRING/CORROSION ISSUE CAUSING HORN NOT TO WORK WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. MANY MAIL CARRIERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE VEHICLES. VEHICLE WILL NOT ALWAYS START. THIS WHOLE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT HAS MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE MOTOR WENT OUT ON MINE AT 52,000 MILES. THE WARRANTY IS ONLY FOR 36,000 MILES. THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT BY A JEEP DEALER AND I WAS TOLD IT HAD A SPUN BEARING. THE AIR BLOWER CONTROLLER ALSO DOES NOT WORK HALF OF THE TIME. THESE RHD JEEPS ARE ALL LEMONS AND POSE SAFETY HAZARDS TO MAIL CARRIERS WHO SPEND MOST OF THEIR DAY OUT ON THE ROAD. THE HORN ISSUE IS A THREAT TO THE PUBLIC AS YOU CANNOT WARN AN UNSUSPECTING DRIVER OR PEDESTRIAN OF YOUR PROCESS. THE AIRBAG ISSUE IS A THREAT TO THE DRIVER. YOU SPEND $25,000 ON A VEHICLE, YOU EXPECT BETTER. *TR

HAD CLOCKSPRING REPLACED AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS COMING ON. JEEP NOW HAS ABOUT 69,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CLOCKSPRING WENT BAD AGAIN. HAD IT REPLACED AGAIN TO FIX THE AIRBAG LIGHT PROBLEM. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON OCCURANCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND COULD EASILY CAUSE DEATH IN A COLLISION IF THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPOY DUE TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. NHTSA AND/OR JEEP SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. *TR

AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED CLOCK SPRING. REPLACED IT. PROBLEM WAS ELIMINATED. I SEE THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THIS VEHICLE. JEEP SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND FIX IT AT NO COST. ONLY HAD ABOUT 38,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CLOCK SPRING WENT BAD. *TR

CLOCKSPRING WENT OUT ON THIS JEEP AT ABOUT 38,000 MILES AND 69,000 MILES, CAUSING THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO COME ON, RENDERING THE AIRBAGS INOPERABLE. HAD CLOCKSPRING REPLACED BOTH TIMES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. JEEP NOW HAS ABOUT 97,000 MILES ON IT AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. WE HAVE ANOTHER BAD CLOCKSPRING. JEEP HAS HAD A RECALL ON THE CLOCKSPRING FOR PREVIOUS MODELS. SINCE JEEP HAS RECALLED PREVIOUS MODELS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND JUDGING BY THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CLOCKSPRING I HAVE READ ON OTHER WEB SITES, YOU WOULD THINK JEEP WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL IT AND FIX IT PROPERLY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER CARS WITH WELL OVER 100,000 MILES ON THEM AND NEVER HAD A CLOCKSPRING GO OUT BEFORE. I PRESENTLY HAVE TWO SUBARUS EACH WITH ALMOST 300,000 MILES ON THEM WITH NO CLOCKSPRING PROBLEM. JEEP IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RUGGED VEHICLE, BUT SO FAR I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN IT AND CONSIDER IT NO MORE RUGGED THAN A PLASTIC TOY VERSION. THIS IS NOT JUST A NUISANCE, BUT A REAL SAFETY PROBLEM IF THE JEEP WERE IN A COLLISION WHEN THE AIRBAG WAS INOPERATIVE DUE TO A BAD CLOCKSPRING. *TR

COMPUTER CRASHED AND REPLACED A YEAR LATER STILL MESSING UP DOING THE FOLLOWING: CAR SHUTS AND LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING, HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WHILE NIGHT DRIVING,HORN GOES IN AND OUT, AIR LIGHT BAG ON AND DINGS,HORN HONKS CONTINUOUSLY, WIPERS AND WASHER FLUID GOING CONTINUOUSLY , LIGHTS BLINKING AND FLASHING CONTINUOUSLY, CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF IN OFF POSITION, AIR TEMPERATURE IS NOT READING RIGHT OR AT ALL, AIR CONDITIONING GOES OUT. ALL OF THESE CAN BE STOPPED BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING OR IN BAD TIMES IT HAS TO HAVE THE YELLOW RECTANGLE FUSE THING PULLED OUT AND PLUGGED BACK IN LOCATED IN THE FUSE BOX. STEERING DAMPER HAS GONE OUT, FUEL SPILLAGE IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND TRANSFER CASE MESSED UP. NEVER KNOW WHEN THE COMPUTER IS GOING TO DO SOMETHING SCREWY.JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T CAUSE A WRECK BY LOCKING UP AND QUITTING WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS GOING OFF IN NIGHT DRIVING BECAUSE THERE WILL BE MAJOR LAWSUITS ON ALL SIDES. THE HORN STOPPED WORKING AND THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED. IN MY CASE THE FAILURE OF HORN AND AIRBAG OCCURS ALWAYS AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD LEAD TO DEATH IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE FIXED BUT THE DEALER ESTIMATES $500 TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THIS SEAMS SO BE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF JEEP AS I HAVE SEEN THAT MANY OF THE RHD JEEPS FROM THIS YEAR ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. *TR

2008 JEEP WRANGLER RHD POSTAL VEHICLES USED BY RURAL CARRIERS FOR USPS. THOSE OF US WHO PURCHASED THE VEHICLES ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH AIRBAG MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT AND NO HORN USE OR INTERMITTENT USAGE. ONE ITEM OF INTEREST POSSIBLE CAUSE IS THE SPRINGCLOCK IN THE STEERING COLUMN AS COMPONENT THAT OPERATES BOTH HORN AND AIR BAG CIRCUITS. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN YEARS PAST WITH JEEP. CONCERNED WITH A DEPLOYMENT OF FAULTY AIR BAG ISSUE MOSTLY, TRYING TO GET MY VEHICLE IN FOR A COMPLETE INVESTIGATION. TECHNICIANS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY WHEN THEY ARE IN.
