WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I HAD NOTICED IT MADE A NOICE , I HAD A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND MENTIONED THE SUB FRAME WAS WELDED AND THAT THE CAR WAS VERY RUSTED AND FALLING APART. I WENT BACK WITH IN THE 15 DAYS AND UNDER 500 MILES AND BROUGHT IT TO JASON'S ATTENTION (THE PERSON HO SOLD ME THE VEHICLE, JASON ARGUED THAT ALL JEEPS SUB FRAMES ARE LIKE THAT FROM FACTORY, EVEN TRIED COMPARING IT TO ANOTHER JEEP HE HAD. I HAD TOOK THE JEEP TO A FEW SHOPS FOR EVALUATION AND ALL OF THEM CAME BACK WITH THE SAME BAD RESULTS THAT THE CAR WAS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS ADVERTISED AT DEALER "THAT CAR PLACE" AS A GOOD RELIABLE AND SAFE CAR. MY BIG COCERN IS THAT I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT CARS AND I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE IN A CAR THAT HAS SAFETY HAZARDS FOR OTHERS AND MY OWN SAFETY.I HAD REQUESTED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE AND THE REPLY I GT FROM JASON WAS THAT HE COULDN'T DO THAT BECAUSE HE HAD BROUGHT DOWN THE PRICE AN HAD GIVEN ME A DISCOUNT. I DON'T THINK ITS FAIR FOR HIM TO USE THAT EXCUSE AND DENY MY REQUEST JUST BECAUSE I DIDN'T ASK HIM TO IT WAS BY HIS CHOICE.

2009 JEEP WRANGLER X 2 DOOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION FIRST GEAR POPS OUT OF GEAR DURING ACCELERATION. SHIFT TO FIRST, LET OFF OF CLUTCH WITH OR WITHOUT THROTTLE APPLIED AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL KICK OUT OF FIRST GEAR, LEAVING THE VEHICLE AND OCCUPANTS IN NEUTRAL IN AN INTERSECTION, OR ON TRAIN TRACKS FROM A STOP, FORCING QUICK CLUTCH PEDAL APPLICATION AND SHIFTING INTO FIRST AGAIN, WITH THE PROBLEM MOST OFTEN RECURRING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN 3RD OF 5TH GEAR. DEALER DID A DIAGNOSIS PAID FOR BY OWNER, AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE 1/2 GEAR AND SYNCHRO GEARS. CHRYSLER HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT I WAS INELIGIBLE. VEHICLE HAD 20K MILES WHEN PURCHASED, 25000 WHEN DIAGNOSED, NOW AT 46,000 MILES, WITH AN EVEN MORE OFTEN OCCURRENCE. *TR

2009 JEEP WRANGLER 2DR 4WD W/6SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACCORDING TO A RECENT DEALERSHIP SERVICE VISIT THAT THEY ARE "FULLY AWARE OF". THE GEAR SHIFT FREQUENTLY POPS OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHILE STARTING FROM A STANDSTILL. VEHICLE HAS 28,000 MILES ON IT, ISSUE HAD BEGUN AT ABOUT 16-18K. IT BEGAN AS A SPORADIC ISSUE AND HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT, APPROX 1-2 TIMES PER MONTH. ON THE SERVICE VISIT 1/20/2011, DEALERSHIP WAS OF NO HELP AS THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO REPAIR OR ADVICE WAS GIVEN. VEHICLE WILL BE OUT OF WARRENTY IN APPROX 8000K. THIS COMMON ISSUE WILL THEN BE ON THE HANDS OF THE OWNER. IT IS ACTUALLY MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT'LL POP OUT OF GEAR AS ONE PULLS INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND THEN SUDDENLY BECOMES IMMOBILE POSING A SERIOUS T-BONE POTENTIAL. SURPRISING, THE TOTAL LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY ON THE DEALERSHIP/AUTO MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS ISSUE SINCE IT IS SO WELL KNOWN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *LN

OVER 8 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER HAS VIOLENTLY SLIPPED OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR STOPS SUDDENLY AND THERE IS A LOUD BANG LIKE ONE WOULD EXPECT IN A REAR END COLLISION. I AM LUCKY THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION OR WHILE TRYING TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT EVEN LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM IF THEY CANNOT RE-CREATE THE INCIDENT WHICH HAPPENS AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER 4X4. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 7 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR AND THEN INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE OR FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

2007-2010 JEEP JK WRANGLER (ALL MODELS) MANUAL 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY JUMPS OUT OF GEAR (JOG) IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE ACTION IS QUICK, VIOLENT AND SOUNDS LIKE THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB OR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MOVEMENT OF THE SHIFT HANDLE IS VIOLENT ENOUGH TO CAUSE HAND INJURY INCLUDING BROKEN BONES. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME MOMENTARILY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED (I.E. AVOIDING OTHER VEHICLES, OBJECTS ETC.). THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. SOME QUICK RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AS DOCUMENTED BY OTHER JEEP OWNERS/OPERATORS. *TR

A HANDFUL OF INSTANCES OVER THE PAST MONTH, MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER VIOLENTLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR UPON ACCELERATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN A REAR END COLLISION, POTENTIAL ACCIDENT WHILE CROSSING TRAFFIC LANES OR UPON ACCELERATION ONTO A HIGHWAY LIKE THE SAWMILL PARKWAY WHERE YOU ENTER THE HIGHWAY FROM A DEAD STOP. IN ADDITION TO THE POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC RESULTS DUE TO AN ACCIDENT, THE SHIFTER WHEN IT VIOLENTLY DISENGAGES CAN RESULT IN A DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS HAND OR FINGERS. 1) DURING THE PERIOD OF PLACING THE MANUAL 6 SPEED INTO FIRST GEAR, THE GEAR WILL SPORADICALLY POP OUT AND ABRUPTLY BACK INTO NEUTRAL. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AS TO THE TEMPERATURES NOR CONDITIONS OUTSIDE. IT OCCURS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. (STATE/CITY ROAD 2WD) 2) THE FAILURE IS THAT WITHOUT WARNING IN A SPORADIC STATE, 1ST GEAR WHILE ENGAGED AND MOVING AT EITHER 1 - 10 MPH WILL ABRUPTLY POP OUT OF FIRST AND LAND IN NEUTRAL WITH A LOUD THUD WHEN OCCURRING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE IN THAT IF ONE IS PULLING ONTO A ROAD TO GO WITH OR AGAINST TRAFFIC AND THIS OCCURS, THE END RESULT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. IF ONE PULLS ONTO A ROAD AND A CAR IS MOVING AT 40 MPH AND IS UNABLE STOP, A HIGH PROBABILITY EXISTS WHEREAS A T-BONE ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR THUS CAUSING DEATH. WITHIN 2500 MILES, THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED 10+ TIMES. 3) A SERVICE VISIT IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED, ALTHOUGH IF IT IS A COLLAR OR SYNCHRONIZING ISSUE, IT WILL AS LIKELY AS NOT BE REPAIRED. THE INCIDENT DOES NOT DUPLICATE TIME AFTER TIME. AS I MENTIONED, IT HAS OCCURRED IT 10+ TIMES WITHIN 2500 MILES. ROUGHLY 2.5% OF THE TIME WITHIN THE 0 MILES TO 2500 MILES THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE MOST ACCURATE RESULT DUE TO 1ST GEAR ONLY BEING UTILIZED WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STAND STILL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DR 4X4. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER CLEANED THE VENT AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO LET HIM KNOW IF IT RECURS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT IT APPEARED THAT THE FLUID WAS BURPING OUT OF THE HEAT VENT FROM THE TRANSMISSION BUT NOT FROM ANY OTHER SEAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
