WHEN REFUELING, REGARDLESS OF FILL LEVEL THE GAS WILL NOT FLOW INTO TANK PROPERLY ON LEVEL GROUND, AND SPEWS OUT ALL OVER THE GROUND/CAR/PERSON. IT WILL NOT TAKE FUEL IN ANY POSITION. IT TAKES ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES TO REFUEL FROM EMPTY. IT WILL TAKE GAS UNTIL THE FILLER NECK FILLS UP AND THEN YOU HAVE TO STOP AND LET IT DRAIN INTO TANK. YOU HAVE TO REPEAT THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL FULL.

WHEN FILILNG THE FUEL TANK, NO MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I USE, THE TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FULL, SPILLING GASOLINE BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTOFF CAN ACTIVATE. THIS IS STATIONARY, TURNED OFF, AND LEVEL. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE FEB 2015 AND IT IS A HIGHLY REPEATABLE PROBLEM.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FUEL OVERFLOWING EVERY TIME I GO TO THE GAS STATION. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT PUMPS AND DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM EVERY TIME. I BOUGHT THE CAR 1 MONTH AGO AND IYHE OVERFLOW HAS BEEN A CONSTANT PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I SEE THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS. THIS IS A COSTLY AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE.

WHEN FUELING THIS VEHICLE THE NOZZLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF CORRECTLY RESULTING IN FUEL OVERFLOWING AND SPILLING OUT, APROX 1/2 PINT WORTH. CAUSE UNKNOWN. SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN THE FALL WINTER AND SPRING BUT NOT THE SUMMER. NOT SURE IF THE TEMPERATURE OR FUEL BLEND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW IN '09 AND ITS BEEN DOING IT REGULARLY. JEEP RECALLED '07 AND '08 FOR THIS PROBLEM. '09 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.

UPON FILLING THE JEEP WITH GASOLINE (SINCE OWNING THE CAR), NO MATTER THE PUMP/STATION, THE AUTOMATIC STOPPING MECHANISM WILL STOP FILLING WHEN IT IS FULL AND A "BUBBLE" WILL BACK FLOW CAUSING GASOLINE TO SHOOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SOAK THE BUMPER/FENDER/ME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT A GAS STATION COVERED IN GASOLINE SO HAVE TRIED FIXING THIS. I HAVE REPLACED THE EVAP CANISTER BUT AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO RATHER THAN GET AN ENTIRE NEW GAS TANK.
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. INTERNAL FLANGE IS EITHER NON-EXISTENT, DAMAGED, OR INOPERABLE AS THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. UNLESS I STOP THE FILL SHORT OF 16 GALLONS, GAS SPILLS ALL OVER THE JEEP & USUALLY ALL OVER MYSELF AS WELL.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A GAS STATION STATIONARY AND FILLING THE FUEL TANK GAS SPITS OUT AT THE FILLER NECK WHEN THE PUMP IS LEFT TO STOP AUTOMATICALLY. THIS ISSUE STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES WHICH S OUTSIDE OF THE 36 K MILES WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP AND SPILLS ABOUT A PINT OF FUEL OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. IT IS A CONSISTENT ISSUE THAT REPEATS AT EVERY FILL UP WHEN THE PUMP IS LEFT TO STOP AUTOMATICALLY.

(OUR JEEP HAS NOT BEEN A PRIMARY VEHICLE UNTIL RECENTLY) I'VE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY OF THE OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE DRIVEN OVER THE LAST 32 YEARS. WE HAD PLANNED TO LET OUR 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE CONCERNS THAT THIS VEHICLE COULD BE TOO DANGEROUS IN ITS CURRENT STATE FOR HER TO DRIVE. THE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLED IS SIGNIFICANT. I AM WRITING YOU NOW BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER HAD IT SPILL OUT ON HER TODAY.

FUEL SPILLS EVERY TIME THAT I FILL UP THE TANK DURING THE WINTER. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP WRANGLERS, BUT NOT WITH THIS MODEL YEAR/VIN. ALTHOUGH I HAVE ENTERED TODAYS DATE BELOW, THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
I JUST PURCHASED THE JEEP 2 MONTHS AGO AND EVER SINGLE TIME WITHOUT EXCEPTION I GET FUEL SPIT BACK WHEN FUELING THE JEEP. WHEN FUELING THE JEEP THE NOZZLE AT THE PUMP WILL CUT OFF AND 1-2 SECONDS LATER GAS COMES SHOOTING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. TODAY 3/2/2016 I COULD HEAR THE SOUND CHANGE JUST BEFORE THE NOZZLE CUT OFF AND TRIED TO STOP FUELING BEFORE THE SPIT BACK BUT WAS STILL TO LATE. THE BEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND SHUT OFF AT THE GAS STATION. THIS HAPPENS WEATHER IT IS HOT OR COLD HIGH ELEVATION OR LOWER. DENVER IS/WAS 60 DEGREES TODAY. 5280 ELEVATION. LAST WEEKEND IN WINTER PARK 28 DEGREES AND OVER 9000 ELEVATION. NEXT TIME I FILL UP I WILL FILM THE SPIT BACK.

I HAVE TO TRY AND LISTEN FOR THE SOUND OF THE FUEL LEVEL GETTING CLOSE SO I CAN LET GO OF THE PUMP HANDLE IN TIME SO IT DOESN'T FLOW OVER BUT MANY TIMES WITH THE NOISE OF THE STATION I'M TOO LATE AND IT DUMPS FUEL DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR, SOMETIMES EVEN SPRAYING OUT THE TOP AND SHOOTING GAS OVER ME. IT'S DISGUSTING AND WASTES A LOT OF FUEL. I GO HOME STINKING LIKE GAS AND IT'S DANGEROUS! PLEASE MAKE CHRYSLER FIX THIS ISSUE. THE 'WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN' QUESTION BELOW DOESN'T REALLY APPLY TO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP. I CHOSE THE DATE OF MY LAST FILL UP.

TODAY, GAS WAS SQUIRTING OUT OF THE TANK AND ONTO ME. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT POTENTIAL DANGERS OF SPILLED FUEL--FIRE, ENVIRONMENTAL, PERSONAL INJURY FROM CONTACT WITH GAS, DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *TR

I DID RESEARCH AND THIS IS A COMMON CHRYSLER/JEEP ISSUE YET THEY SAID IT'S NOT A COVERED REPAIR ON MY YEAR MODEL AND COULD COST $1000 TO FIX... THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I URGE ALL DRIVERS WITH THIS ISSUE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS IT'S DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY IF NOT, RECALL. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO I WAS FILLING UP AT PUMP AND THE AUTO-SHUT OFF DID NOT WORK CAUSING GAS TO GUSH OUT ALL OVER MY JEEP AND THE GROUND. TRIED SEVERAL GAS STATIONS AND IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. TOOK JEEP TO DEALER AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE - SAID IT WAS NOT A RECALL, THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, O-RING, FUEL PUMP AND LEVEL UNIT. LUCKILY I HAVE A WARRANTY, HOWEVER, I DID HAVE TO PAY A $100 DEDUCTIBLE. MY HUSBAND WAS RESEARCHING AND SAW THAT THIS IS AN EMISSIONS ISSUE AND READ THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY EMISSION ISSUES DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS. I SEE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE MADE THE SAME CLAIM AS I AND I DO HOPE THAT SOMEONE LOOKS INTO THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER/DODGE. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE - THIS SOUNDS LIKE AN ISSUE WHERE IF IT HAPPENS, CHRYSLER/DODGE SHOULD BE COVERING THE WORK/PARTS. *JS
