******* TIPM ISSUES *******WHILE DRIVING 70MPH DOWN INTERSTATE THE JEEP LOST ALL POWER AND CONTROL ABILITIES AND CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO START UP AND WAS LIKE IT HAD A DEAD BATTERY. CARS WERE SWERVING AND BLOWING LIKE CRAZY TRYING TO AVOID ME AND NOT WRECK. ONCE TRAFFIC WAS SOMEWHAT STABLE I GOT OUT TO PUSH JEEP OFF TO SIDE OF INTERSTATE AND A ANOTHER MOTORIST STOPPED TO HELP. MY PASSENGER WAS HURT FROM THE SUDDEN STOP WHEN HER KNEES WENT INTO THE DASH. THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN HER RESULTING IN HER LEFT KNEE GETTING BRUISED AND HER RIGHT KNEE GOT A CUT. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON AND SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS. WE ARE BOTH LUCKY TO BE ALIVE FROM THIS BEING THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES NEARLY HIT US AS WELL AS ALMOST HITTING OTHERS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WARNING ADDRESSED TO ALL OWNERS AS THIS BEING A POTENTIAL WRECK LESS CONDITION. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE FROM CHRYSLER OR THE HIGHWAY SAFETY COUNCIL CONTACT ME AT [XXX]. AT 1030 AM 08 SEPTEMBER 2016, MY JEEP WRANGLER CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS DETERMINED A TOTAL LOSS. I DROPPED MY JEEP OFF FOR A NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION ON 06 SEPTEMBER 2016, I THEN RECEIVED A PHONE ON THE 8TH THAT MY JEEP HAD CAUGHT FIRE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION HAD OVERHEATED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS IN POSSESSION OF MY VEHICLE THROUGH THIS PROCESS AND STATED THAT I WOULD NEED TO FILE A CLAIM THROUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY.
BAD DESIGN ON SHIFT CABLE BUSHING. IT DISINTEGRATED WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE TRANSMISSION, BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT PART FROM THE DEALER BUT IT WON'T STAY ON. SHOULD BE COVERED ON THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT DEALER SAYS IT ISN'T.

WAS AT A STOP LIGHT,TURNED GREEN, AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, IT POPPED OUT OF 1ST GEAR LEAVING ME STRANDED AS ONCOMING/OPPOSING TRAFFIC APPROACHED. NEARLY CAUSING A SEVER ACCIDENT.MY FAMILY WAS I. EXTREME DANGER OF BEING HIT HEAD ON BY A TRUCK GOING 45 MPH. (WITHIN HIS DESIGNATED SPEED LIMIT). HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES UNABLE TO DUPLICATE MY ISSUE BUT HAVE VIDEO DOCUMENTATION PROVING IT. THEIR IS CURRENTLY A TSB ON MY ISSUE BUT VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS OF JEEP KNEES W/THIS SAME ISSUE! HOW MANY PEOPLE/FAMILIES HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THIS IS A CALLED BACK FOR REPAIR BY THE CHRYSLER CORP. *TR

I HAVE A 2009 JEEP UNLIMITED WRANGLER X 4 DOOR. THE JEEP IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD ON 1/20/2011 AT 39,313 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER PIPES HAD TO BE REPLACED. WONDERING IF THERE ARE OTHER JEEPS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY I BOUGHT FROM ACURA DEALER WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2009 FROM THE ACURA DEALER WITH 13,000 MILES ON IT. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. IT IF I DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
RANDOMLY AS YOU START IN FIRST GEAR FROM A DEAD STOP THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER JUMPS OUT OF FIRST INTO NEUTRAL. THE JUMP HAPPENS SO VIOLENTLY THAT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I HAD TO MAKE SURE I WAS NOT REAR ENDED. WITH THIS JUMPING OUT OF GEAR I FEAR THAT DRIVING INTO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC I COULD BE IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF MOVEMENT GOING INTO OR THRU TRAFFIC. *TR

2009 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON LEAKS AXLE OIL FROM RIGHT FRONT AXLE SEAL ONTO TIRE. SEAL WAS FIRST REPLACED IN JUNE 2010, THEN IN AUGUST, AND IS SCHEDULED AGAIN FOR OCT 2010 REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 24K MILES. JEEP DEALER REPLACED SEALS FIRST TWO TIMES AND IS SCHEDULED AGAIN FOR REPLACEMENT BY DEALER IN OCTOBER. LEAKING SEAL IS A HAZARD AS AXLE OIL IS LEAKING ONTO TIRE AND COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. VEHICLE IS NOT MODIFIED IN ANY WAY THAT WOULD ACCOUNT FOR THE LEAK. *TR

INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED SINCE PURCHASE OF THE NEW VEHICLE. ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME, THE STANDARD TRANSMISSION WILL THRUST OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THIS OFTEN IS DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING INTO BUSY TRAFFIC OR MERGING ONTO CROWDED HIGHWAYS. DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE. *TR

MANUAL TRANSMISSION SPONTANEOUSLY POPS OUT OF GEAR IN COLD WEATHER. THIS RESULTS IN A MOVING VEHICLE BEING IN NEUTRAL. AFTER FAILING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM CHRYSLER ADVISES TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE PARKED IN NEUTRAL WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON IN COLD WEATHER. THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND IS WARNED AGAINST IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. *TR
