2024 JEEP WRANGLER 4XE Unknown Or Other Problems

JEEP 2024 Wrangler 4XE HYBRID EXPLODED VIN# [XXX] On [XXX], just before [XXX], our 2024 hybrid vehicle began emitting smoke while parked in our attached garage. Thankfully, our smoke alarm alerted us - my wife discovered it was coming from the garage and immediately called 911. Police arrived within minutes and were able to push the car out of the garage. Shortly after that, the vehicle caught fire. First responders later told us that if my wife had not acted quickly, the fire could have easily spread to our home—potentially resulting in a total loss, or worse, endangering our lives if it had happened while we were asleep. It took four hours of continuous firefighting to manage the flames. The Hazmat team explained that this was due to “thermal runaway”, a dangerous chain reaction in lithium-ion batteries where heat builds uncontrollably, leading to fire or even explosions. These types of fires can’t be extinguished conventionally—they must burn out once the chemical reaction is complete. Some Important Context: This vehicle is the same year, make, and model as those recently recalled for hybrid battery fire risks. However, our VIN was not included in the recall—something we now believe may have been an oversight, as the circumstances appear nearly identical. Back in June, the car had another serious issue: it shut down completely despite a full gas tank and a 50% EV charge. It had to be towed to the dealership, and was returned to us a day or 2 later, marked as “repaired.” After the fire - I reviewed the service paperwork, we found that the specific error code pointed to unstable hybrid battery voltage—a potential sign of a failing battery pack. According to documentation on that error code POB24, complete replacement of the hybrid battery is considered the only safe fix. That repair was never performed—and worse, we were never informed of the severity of the issue. This negligence should be addressed as it almost killed us. On three occurrences I was driving my vehicle and it suddenly and abruptly stopped in the middle of traffic. The entire vehicle shut down and would not drive or move forward. It was terrifying as on one of the occasions I had my son with me and he was slammed back into the seat. We have reached out to the dealership who insists there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. It is a safety hazard and we are lucky that my family and no one else has been harmed or seriously injured because of these incidents. We don’t know what to do as Jeep is taking no responsibility and we are afraid to drive the vehicle as it is a ticking time bomb. There is a recall for this issue on different year models but the dealer will not acknowledge that there could be any problem. The service light has been on and off intermittently.

Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights until after the incident. No other symptoms

We have a 4xe jeep wrangler Rubicon X that we purchased for $70,000. We purchased this vehicle to take advantage of the hybrid features, only to later find out that these batteries that are installed in these vehicles have the potential to explode, and cause massive property damage. This is a total defect from the manufacturer and as a consumer I should not have to make financial sacrifices to trade in a vehicle that's 8 months old that's significantly decreased in value by over 30k in such a short time period. Jeep, Stellantis, and the dealerships need to stop selling these hazardous vehicles and make this right to their consumers. I would like to resolve this matter now before seeking legal counsel on my behalf.

Service charging station is the message on screen. Car shut off during normal driving. Car continues to stall out. Car has been inspected by dealer.

On three occasions so far in this vehicle with fewer than 3,000 miles I have experienced the “death wobble” after going over a bump on a highway at highway speeds. The intense shaking of the vehicle persists until I am able to slow down to below 50mph or so. The incidents have taken place on [XXX] (twice on [XXX] driving North from Cupertino) and on [XXX] driving in Napa on [XXX] towards Yountville. When traveling on the highway if you switch lanes or hit a bump, the jeep shakes violently and you have to hit your brakes to make it stop. A rented vehicle of the same make model and year had the same issue for family members in September of 2024. We have been taking video, took it to jeep and the tech took it for a 3 mile ride (non highway) and said nothing is wrong but they recommended a dampener or stabilizers, but this jeep is $1100/month and brand new. There are no warnings, and the shaking is absolutely hard to control. Less than 10,000 miles and it’s a safety concern for any jeep on the highways. It’s dangerous for all vehicles to be around the jeep when it begins shaking. All we can do for now, unless we wreck, is video it’s issue. We have traveled from Kansas to Washington and are almost back to Kansas, but the issue has gotten more dangerous as we have traveled. It feels like the wheels will actually fall off the arms of the jeep. It’s incredibly scary. Video not an option to upload below, but we can get info from jeep tech showing we told them the issue. The jeep is available for inspection and the issue will not stop, it’s a constant and there’s no way this is normal.

All the warning lights came on while driving on the highway and the vehicle shutdown on its own. 3,000 miles on the vehicle. Seems like an electrical or software issue. Absolutely unacceptable. I am lucky I wasn’t hit.

The day I got the vehicle, it shut down. I thought it was a fluke, but it keeps shutting down on the road. Completely. The whole car turns off in middle of the lane and I have to try and restart the car which can take a few minutes. No alerts would come up, the car would just suddenly stop. It is very stressful trying to get the car restarted with everyone honking and zooming around me. I have a baby and every time we get in car, I am fearful of an accident. It went to different dealerships multiple times, each time they claim there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. I've shown them many videos, and they say its insufficient proof. They drove it for over 200mi and told me they could not replicate the problem. I find this hard to believe as happens 10-20 A DAY!! And I don't drive a lot. It literally happens on the way home from the dealership. They wont give me a rental car, cuz they don't see a problem, yet keep the vehicle for weeks.

I picked up my new wrangler from the dealer on Friday [XXX]. On Saturday [XXX], I was driving on [XXX] on my way to Amherst, MA. Since I was on the highway, I was traveling between 65-75 mph. About 30 minutes into the trip the vehicle began to jerk and the engine was sputtering. When pushing on the gas pedal the car would jerk and lose any acceleration. I began to slow down as the car jerked and lost all acceleration. I had to pull over on the busy highway as the car could not maintain speed over 30 mph. I luckily was about two miles from a rest area and I drove in the shoulder and exited. The check engine light was on and the engine was making a very loud noise and seemed to be stuck in a high gear. Once we were safely in the parking area, I turned off the engine and the vehicle was towed to a dealer in Albany NY. The car remained at the dealer and I picked it up on Wednesday [XXX]. The tech at the dealer said they applied a bunch of software updates, road tested it and everything seemed good. I picked up the car on Wednesday [XXX]. On Thursday [XXX] after driving roughly 30 miles in total, the vehicle did the same thing while driving. This time I was in a residential area. I had to turn around and lump to park the car in my parents driveway. The car was subsequently towed back to the repair shop on Friday [XXX]. I am currently awaiting an update on status.

The vehicle is supposed to have an off board power inverter (MOPAR PART 68522775AD or 68522775AB), and is supposed to work with all models of the 4XE wrangler. My Power port does not work and JEEP has been unhelpful in getting it replaced. My case number with FCA is 89963711.

After hitting a minor bump in the road on the highway traveling approx. 60 MPH, my Jeep began to shake unusually longer than one might expect going over a bump. It stopped after just a few seconds, and I continued driving. About five miles later, traveling approx. 65 MPH it happened again, after hitting a bump or expansion joints on the highway. This time the shaking laster longer, maybe six or seven seconds until I was able to migrate to the slow lane, and once I reduced my speed it stopped. I continued driving slowly, and called the dealership immediately after arriving at my destination. I learned the problem is known to JEEP as the Death Wobble. I am going on record to report that this happened to me in my 2024 4XE Jeep Wrangler with 2,300 miles.

I leased a 2024 Jeep Wrangler since day 1 I have been having problems with the stereo system where it shuts off and on the whole drive. The screen goes black when I'm backing up the car and I find this dangerous because I almost hit a person while backing. I don't have control on the temperature because the screen is black so my windows would get foggy and the during the summer the Aircon doesn't work and during the winter the heat doesn't work. When my phone is connected to the car play and I'm using the navigation sysmtem it would shut of again and again to the point where im lost and almost ended up the the wrong way on the road, and also while driving the screen would turn on and show my backup camera while I'm on the highway. I have taken this car multiple times to the dealer service department and was told that its a software issues. it is now almost a year and nothing has been done about it. the car is a lease for 3 years and i'm paying $720 dollars per month for a car that I feel is not safe for me to drive. Please help me get a solution, I don't know who else I can contact in regards to this. I have a lot of videos that can attest to this problem.

I recently purchased a NEW 2024 jeep wrangler 4xe. Within the first week of ownership, the car broke down twice and was unable to be driven during a trip. The car started fine and was able to be driven at first, but twice, while stopped at a traffic light, it was unable to start again. The car needed to be towed to the local dealership on both occasions. This caused significant traffic hazards on both occasions. During the first service trip to the dealer, I was told that software needed to be updated, but on the second visit, I was told that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. I see online that others have complained of the same exact issue that I experienced [XXX] ) There were no warning lights or lamps on prior to the vehicle breaking down but after the incident on both occasions there was a "service transmission" message. While driving on a busy road a red turtle error code popped up and my car went from 50mph to 5 mph very quickly almost causing an accident I am afraid to drive my 67000 car help

I bought a new jeep wrangler 4xe 2024. I drove the wrangler first day to city , and the dashboard suddenly popped up red little turtle warning light, vehicle started lost power in the middle of the street, it was crawling no more than 5 MPH. I randomly pressed the cruise control ACC couple minute the warning light went off, and I continued to drive on the road, the wrangler dashboard popped up the red turtle warning light again after I got off the bridge, vehicle no power again ,I have to double park on the street , I turn off the engine and turned it back on the red turtle warning light still there, I heard there is a fan on top of the dashboard blew with loud noise , fast speed and then it gradually slowing down, then the warning light went off, so I could continually drove back to office, I luckily I can make it back to office. I don't think it is safe to drive this vehicle, it could be happen if driving on the highway with 55 mph, it could lost power while driving on the highway, it is serious danger.

The vehicle starts flashing the “D” the vehicle then completely stops. All the lights in the dashboard turn on and it asks to shift to park then the shaft can’t be move. The vehicle turns on, but the shaft can’t be shifted. This has happened to us twice in the middle of a Texas highway and we unfortunately can’t even put it on park to push it out of harms way

Hello, We got a brand new 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sport S two days ago from Ourisman in Baltimore (I live in New York). Since we got the Jeep, it randomly stops and the car just shuts off in the middle of the road, with the D by the gear shift blinking red. There is plenty of gas and is fully charged. It has happened five times in the two days I've had it. We've called multiple Jeep dealerships, everyone is refusing to even see the car because it was purchased in Baltimore. I've been given the run around with many different phone numbers to call. I am scared to drive it to Baltimore myself, lest it shut down on the highway.

On 10/21/2023 I went to turn on my car and shift it to drive when the shifter was unable to move. The shifter was stuck in park and could not move out of any other gear. Check engine light and power steering light were on. Additionally the following message showed up on the dash - "Service Electronic Stability" Several tow truckers were called and the vehicle was unable to be put into neutral even after attempting to use the override cable in the shifter. The vehicle had to be dragged onto a flatbed and was towed to the dealership. Per the dealer it sound like the vehicle need a full transmission replacement and a computer replacement.
