The transmission has been shifting very hard and erratic for years and if i hit a bump the steering wheel shakes violently. Has been doing these things since almost new the dealer would not fix any of it.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER: 1 TCM/SINGLE BOARD ENGINE CONTROL MESSAGE NOT RECEIVED DATA LIST FOR TCM IS READING 1023 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OR 1.10 VOLTS HAVING CODE P0613 TCM IS FAULTY.

THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM), PART OF THE COMPUTER, FAILS AND MANIFESTS AS A FAILURE TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND, OVER REVVING, LOUD THUDS/CLUNKS WHEN IT DOES SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND. COMPUTER (TCM) CAN BE RESET IF BATTERY (+) DISCONNECTED AND GROUNDED OUT. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RARE, ESTIMATE SEVERAL 1,000 JEEP WRANGLERS '05 AND '06 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS NOW OR WILL. CHRYSLER HAS NO INTEREST IN REPAIRS OR PROVIDING PARTS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER THAT HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V222000 (POWER TRAIN). THE DEALER VERIFIED THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR AS WELL AS THE OTHER MAINTENANCE REPAIRS. WHEN THE CONTACT WENT TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE, THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE NOT COMPLETED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CONTACT BACK WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CHECKED BACK WITH THE DEALER SIX TO SEVEN TIMES BOTH IN PERSON AND ON THE PHONE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO INITIATE THE CALLS SINCE THE DEALER NEVER CALLED BACK OVER A THREE MONTH TIMEFRAME. THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL CENTER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD RESEARCH THE MATTER AND CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE RECALL CENTER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. *TT CONSUMER STATED NO INCIDENT OR CRASH HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS TIME. SAFETY RECALL IS FOR CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH. *JB

I'VE BEEN BATTLING BAD SHIFTING PROBLEMS AND SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AFTER REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, LOTS OF DIAGNOSTIC FEES, AND NOW A PCM MODULE. I'VE LEARNED AFTER 8 MONTHS, THAT CHRYSLER CAN'T SEEM TO SOLVE THE PCM PROBLEM AND LEFT THE AFTERMARKET TO RESOLVE IT. I LUCKILY FOUND A COMPANY WHO CAN RESOLVE IT. TRIBAL KNOWLEDGE IS THAT CHRYSLER COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT AND SOME PARTS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

THE PCM USED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS HAS A SERIOUS AND VERY COMMON FAILURE. CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN SINCE 2006 AND HAS MADE NO EFFORT TO DATE TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. THE TCM SIDE (INTERNAL WITH THE PCM) HAS A PROBLEM THAT CAUSES HARSH SHIFTING ISSUES. THE ONLY KNOWN SUCCESSFUL REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE PCM. THIS HAS CAUSED THEM TO BE UNAVAILABLE AND WHEN THEY ARE, THEY ARE 3 TO 5 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER YEARS. ALSO, THESE REMANUFACTURED PCM'S ARE NOT RELIABLY REPAIRED, IT IS USUAL THAT SEVERAL DIFFERENT PCM'S BE INSTALLED BEFORE A RELIABLE ONE IS FOUND. I KNOW OF A 2006 JEEP TJL THAT HAD SIX MOPAR REMANUFACTURED COMPUTERS INSTALLED IN 90 DAYS, ALL BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP, BEFORE ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKED WAS FOUND. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED VIOLENTLY INTO SECOND GEAR. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV RAPIDLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY STARTED OR WHENEVER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE PCM WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NINE MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

RECALL NUMBER R13/NHTSA15V-222 CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH - THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH WESTBURY JEEP NEW YORK TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND COULD NOT REPAIR IT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF WESTBURY JEEP INEPT IN PROVIDING THE REQUIRED SERVICE TO CORRECT THIS, HAD A TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CUSTOMER TO GET THIS REPAIRED IN A TIMELY FASHION AND WHAT WAS DISAPPOINTING THEY HAD NO IDEA ON A PART THAT THEY MANUFACTURED HOW TO GET A HOLD OF IT. AS A RESULT WE TOOK THE CAR HOME WITH OUT GETTING THIS REPAIRED. AS SUCH I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS DEALERSHIP FOR FAILING TO REMEDY AND PROVIDE PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45 MPH ON OPEN ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE SHOOK SO BAD I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, BECAUSE I HAD TROUBLE HANGING ON TO THE WHEEL. I LOOKED THIS UP AND IT WAS CALLED A DEATH WOBBLE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2013 AFTER TRADING IN A 1999 WRANGLER THAT I NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH. I HAVE REPLACED THE STABILIZER BAR AND STABILIZER LINK BUSHINGS, TRACK BAR AND BUSHINGS AND STILL GET A WOBBLE BUT NOT AS BAD. THERE IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING WRONG BUT NO ONE IS ADMITTING IT. WHY DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED TO GET THE PROBLEM RECOGNIZED AND FIXED.

CAUSE ON FLUID DISCHARGE APPEARS TO BE AN OVER HEATING OR PRESSURIZATION OF TRANSMISSION CASE AS THERE ARE NO OTHER PORTS OF EXIT. TRAMS CASE IS INTACT AND AREAS AROUND TRANSMISSION ARE DRY FREE OF DEBRIS OR EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE. FLUID LEVEL PRIOR TO EVENT WAS CORRECT AND NO POSSIBILITY OF OVER FILLING AS FLUID LEVEL WAS INSPECTED ON REGULAR BASIS. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT DIFFICULTY IN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. PROBLEM IS VERY APPARENT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD, BUT STILL NOTICEABLE AFTER THE VEHICLE WARMS UP. WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND, IT FEELS AS IF SECOND GEAR IS NOT FULLY SYNCHRONIZED. IF IT IS DONE AT A NORMAL SHIFT RATE IT ACTUALLY CLIPS SECOND GEAR (AND MAKES AN ASSOCIATED CLIPPING/GRINDING NOISE). PAUSING IN NEUTRAL AND RESTING THE SHIFTER AGAINST SECOND, YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL TWO OR THREE GEAR TEETH GO BY BEFORE IT WILL DROP INTO GEAR. TO GET IT TO SHIFT SMOOTHLY WITHOUT CLIPPING GEAR TEETH REQUIRES A LONG ENOUGH DELAY IN NEUTRAL THAT FOLLOWING TRAFFIC ALMOST REAR ENDS THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER IS ESSENTIALLY FACED WITH THE DECISION OF DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION OR RISKING GETTING REAR ENDED. DOUBLE CLUTCHING THE VEHICLE HELPS, BUT OBVIOUSLY SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED FOR A FULLY SYNCHRONIZED TRANSMISSION. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AT 1164 MILES AND 1306 MILES, BUT THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY ADJUSTED AND LUBRICATED THE LINKAGE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER AND ANOTHER DEALER EMPLOYEE WHO DROVE THE VEHICLE HAVE NOTICED THAT SECOND GEAR DOESN'T FEEL THE SAME AS OTHER WRANGLERS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. I HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THEY AGREE THAT THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I AM SCHEDULED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT VIA PHONE THE DEALER DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE AN IDENTIFIED CAUSE OR FIX. CONSUMER COMPLAINT CONCERNING 2006 WRANGLER CLUTCH PEDAL PUSHROD. *TS THE CONSUMER WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING AN APPOINTMENT FROM THE DEALER THAT WAS CLOSEST TO HIM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FRO SOME WHERE ELSE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER THE WAS 50 MILES AWAY TO GET THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. *JB

THREE MONTH OLD JEEP WRANGLER WITH 6 SPEED. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS, REGARDLESS OF OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, THE FIRST SEVERAL 1-2 SHIFTS UPON DRIVING IT AGAIN EXHIBIT A LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHICH CAN ALSO BE FELT THROUGH THE SHIFTER. THE TRANSMISSION IS RELUCTANT TO COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT HAS TO BE PULLED OUT OF GEAR INSTEAD OF JUST SLIDING OUT. IT THEN FEELS LIKE IT BOUNCES OFF OF SECOND GEAR, REQUIRING ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE SECOND. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE VEHICLE, IT ACTUALLY FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. SHIFTING BECOMES MUCH SMOOTHER, I.E. NORMAL, ONCE IT HAS BEEN RUN FOR A FEW MILES, ALTHOUGH I DO FEEL IT OCCASIONALLY EVEN AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE. DEALER ROAD TESTED THE VEHICLE AND SAYS IT IS "O.K. AT THIS TIME." THIS CONDITION MAY HAVE SOME SAFETY RAMIFICATIONS IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION LONGEVITY ISSUES. FIRST GEAR IN THIS VEHICLE IS VERY LOW. I ONLY USE IT TO START ROLLING A LITTLE BIT AND THEN QUICKLY TRY TO ENGAGE SECOND. HOWEVER, I AM SO CONSCIOUS OF THE DIFFICULTY OF THIS 1-2 SHIFT THAT I EXECUTE IT VERY SLOWLY, ALL THE WHILE CRINGING AT HE THOUGHT OF THE DAMAGE I AM DOING TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE RPM'S DROP OFF SO MUCH DURING THE TIME OF THIS SHIFT THAT THERE IS LITTLE POWER AVAILABLE ONCE I ACTUALLY ENGAGE SECOND, RESULTING IN LEISURELY ACCELERATION AT BEST. ON TWO OCCASIONS ALREADY, THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME HAVE BLOWN THEIR HORNS AND NEARLY RUN UP MY BACK BECAUSE, I BELIEVE, THEY MUST HAVE THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO STOP INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE. IT IS GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE, IF THE ROAD IS LEVEL, I TAKE OFF USING SECOND GEAR INSTEAD OF FIRST UNTIL I HAVE TRAVELED SEVERAL MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO BEHAVE NORMALLY. I HAVE DRIVEN MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS FOR 20 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR. *JB

MODEL: 2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON WITH 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL AND DURING THE TRANSITION FROM REVERSE TO 1ST GEAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL LOST ITS CONNECTION TO THE CLUTCH MECHANISM. THE PEDAL WAS FREE TO SWING WITH NO RESISTANCE AT ALL. THERE WAS A LOUD "POP" FROM UNDER THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BY BY-PASSING THE CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH AND STARTING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD EXACTLY 74 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. *NM

NO ACCIDENT BUT TREMENDOUS STRESSFUL CONDITION, ABLE TO DRIVE IN LOW GEAR OFF STREET INTO PARKING LOT AND DISENGAGE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE. CAR TOWED TO DEALER. AWAITING DEALER RESPONSE. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE CLUTCH PEDAL MECHANISM, DISCOVERED A SMALL PLASTIC CLIP ATTACHING PEDAL TO CLUTCH CYLINDER HAD BROKEN. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DESIGN ISSUE. WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT FROM A DEAD STOP I DEPRESS THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDALS, STARTED THE ENGINE, AND PLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE. AS SOON AS I LOOKED BACK THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE JEEP LEAPT BACKWARDS. APPARENTLY THE "PLASTIC" LINKAGE CONNECTING THE PEDAL TO THE CLUTCH MECHANISM SNAPPED. IT IS NOW BEING REPLACED BUT FROM PREVIOUS REPORTS I BELIEVE THIS WILL BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. *JB

THE 2006 SIX SPEED JEEP WRANGLER HAS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. NEW FOR THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER IS THE SIX SPEED TRANSMISSIONS AND WHAT I HAVE RECENTLY LEARNED THE HARD WAY IS PART OF THE REDESIGN INCLUDES THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE CLUTCH ROD COMES OUT OF THE FLOOR BOARD AND ATTACHES TO THE CLUTCH PEDAL WITH A CLIP/ATTACHMENT THAT BOLTS ONTO THE CLUTCH PEDAL. THE PROBLEM HERE IS AS PART OF THEIR NEW DESIGN THE CLIP OR ATTACHMENT PIECE IS MADE OF ??PLASTIC?? AND I FOUND THAT IT CAN BREAK VERY EASILY AND DISABLE YOUR JEEP. I LEARNED THIS FACT THIS LAST WEEKEND AND IF I HAD BEEN ROCK CLIMBING OR IN THE DESERT INSTEAD OF IN TOWN I MIGHT NOT BE HERE LETTING ALL YOU JEEP OWNERS KNOW ABOUT THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM AND BEING 165 MILES FROM HOME I HAD A BIG EYE OPENER ON HOW RUDE, UNCOOPERATIVE, UNCARING AND TOTALLY UNHELPFUL I FOUND CORPORATION TO BE. READ THE DETAILS OF MY PAST WEEKEND AND DAIMLER CHRYSLER SEE HOW DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY THIS PROBLEM CAN BE UNLESS DAIMLER CHRYSLER CORPORATION CORRECTS IT!
