when i drive the vehicle, i goes into this shaky mode where i have to completely stop the car and restart it. this happens if i hit any kind of bump. I brake every bump that i see hoping it will stop but today is got so bad i could not move. Also the braking for driving down a curvy mountain. I almost got in multiple accidents this week

Vehicle engine light came on after driving from carlot- after 50 miles. Meineke- diagnosed report stated, -O2 sensors & catalytic converter needed replacement. Two of tires had a patched over hole. The other two tires had inner bar wears &vehicle needed a steering box.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND UNCONTROLLABLE OSCILLATION OCCURRED IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND WHEELS. THE OSCILLATION OCCURRS WHEN GOING AROUND A TURN AND WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD THE VEHICLE IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. EACH TIME I HAD TO APPLY THE BREAKS TRY AND AVOID TRAFFIC AND PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND DOES NOT MATTER WHERE. VEH. PULLS EXTREMELY HARD NOT WANTING TO GO FORWARD. MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS HAVE ALSO BEEN DOCUMENTED ON THIS. MAYBE IF I MARKED A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT OR DEATH CAUSED BY THIS, JEEP WOULD DO SOMETHING. I HAVE COMPLETED A FIX THAT HAS BEEN GOOD NOW FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. REPLACED BALL JOINTS, ADDED TO STEERING SHOCKS TO KEEP STEERING FORWARD, REPLACE BOTH TIE RODS, FRONT END ALIGNMENT, NEW SHOCKS (ALL 4). HAVE PAID OUT MY PART ON KEEPING MY JEEP SERVICED. BUT, JEEP STILL HAS NOT ANSWERED THIS COMPLAINT NOW FOR YEARS. EXPAND QUESTION: WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN. IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2007. APPROX 2 WEEKS LATER, REAR TRAC BRACKET BROKE OFF REAR AXLE & VEHICLE WAS SWAYING, BUT COULD BE CONTROLLED. THE PRIOR INCIDENTS MENTIONED ABOVE HAPPENED IN 07/12 & 08/12. JEEP DEALER MADE REPAIRS BY RE-WELDING BRACKETS. ON 11/10/2016 MY WIFE WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK & HEARD A LOUD BANG AND LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE & IT WAS BOUNCING VIOLENTLY & COULD NOT STEER VEHICLE & ALMOST CRASHED VEHICLE. TRAC BAR BRACKET ON FRONT AXLE HAD BROKEN OFF AGAIN AFTER BEING REPAIRED BY JEEP DEALER.

I BOUGHT A USED 2007 JEEP WRANGLER 2 DR, 4X4 SOFT TOP, IN OCT 20014. IT HAD 82,000 MILES. I HAD NO PREVIOUS BUYING ON THIS MODEL. I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES IN NORTH EAST OHIO. I DRIVE ALMOST 90 MILES, ROUND TRIP, PER WORK WEEK. I NOTICED A SLIGHT BOUNCE IN THE FRONT END, SUSPENSION DURING HIGHWAY POSTED SPEEDS OF 65 MILES PER HOUR. I CHANGED THE THE SHOCKS 4 EA.AFTER MY FRONT STRAIGHT AXIAL BEGAN TO BOUNCE UP AND DOWN, WELL THE BOUNCE WAS WORSE, AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TRYING TO HANDLE ROAD CONDITION, EVEN CHANGING ROUTE, TO AVOID THE BOUNCE, AT HIGHWAY SPEED 60 MILES AND UNDER, IT WAS COLD OUT 40 DEGREES, HEAVY TRAFFIC CHRISTMAS TIME, RUSH HOUR, MY JEEP WENT INTO A RADICAL BOUNCE CALLED " DEATH WOBBLE " AS NOTED IN THE JEEP WORLD, NOT NOTED BY JEEP, I HAD THREE, IN THE ROW, ONE WORSE, THAN THE ONE BEFORE. THE BOUNCING CAUSED A TRANSMISSION COOLING LINE TO DIS-LARGE, FROM A SITED COUPLING, TO THE ENGINE RADIATER. THE LOSE OF 4 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SPILL ON THE 5 LANE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED A LOSE IN SPEED, SMOKE AND RPM ADVANCE, FROM 1800 TO 4000 RPMS IN LESS THAN A MINUTE. NOW I HAD TO NAVIGATE MY WAY THROUGH 4 LANES OF HEAVY 60 MILES TO 75 MILE AN HOUR TRAFFIC, WITH OUT GETTING HIT. WITHIN TWO MILES I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I HAD A FLASHLIGHT, I LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING, BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING DARK OUT, I WENT UP FRONT AND LOOKED AT THE FRONT END AND SAW TRANSMISSION FLUID. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND CALLED FOR A TOW. 2 HOURS LATER, PLUS 77.00 DOLLARS, I WENT HOME. I LIVE ON A BUDGET. I WROTE JEEP, BUT WITHOUT A WORD, FROM THEM. SO I LOOKED AT MY OWNERS MANUAL, AND SAW NOTHING ABOUT CHANGING SHOCKS, COIL SPRINGS AT MILES MAINTENANCE SERVICE INTERVALS. I NOTICED YOUR NAME, SO I CONTACTED YOU FOR HELP. LUCKILY I WASN'T HIT OR WORSE. I'M 62 YEARS YOUNG, AND HAVE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

I HAVE HAD THE "DEATH WOBBLE" SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP. THIS HAPPENED ON BOTH STOCK SUSPENSION AND MODIFIED SUSPENSION AND SO FAR, IT HAS HAPPENED EASILY WELL OVER 160 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THIS LAST YEAR (I LOST COUNT AS IT HAPPENS FEQUENTLY). I'VE DISHED OUT WELL OVER $1,000 TO FIX (SO FAR), HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS (NOV. 2, 2014 AND APR. 14, 2015, BOTH MINOR WITH NO POLICE REPORTS MADE EITHER TIME) AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS, COUNTLESS NEAR MISSES, MANY A DRINK SPILLED ON THE FLOOR BOARD OR MYSELF THEN THE FLOOR THANKS TO EITHER THE GUT-WRENCHING WOBBLE ITSELF, OR HAVING TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS. EVEN MORE UNSAFE, IS THAT EVERYTIME IT HAPPENS, THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS TO STOP IMMEDIATELY OR RISK FURTHER DAMAGE AND/OR LOSING CONTROL. THIS MEANS HAVING TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS MANY TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HOPE THAT 1.) I'M ACTUALLY DRIVING AS MY FIANC WOULDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO KEEP CONTROL 2.) I MAINTAIN ENOUGH CONTROL TO GUIDE THE JEEP TO AN EMERGENCY LANE SO I CAN STOP SAFELY. 3.) HOPE THAT OTHER DRIVERS ARE PAYING ATTENTION AND DON'T HIT ME. THIS IS REDICULOUS, AND THE MORE IT HAPPENS, THE LESS SAFE I FEEL, AND THE MORE RISK THAT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE PLACED IN. EXPERIENCED THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE WHILE TRAVELLING AT 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT AND THE TIRE WAS MOVING FROM SIDE TO SIDE ON THE RIM. THIS WAS EXTREMELY VIOLENT. AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE STOPPED I INSPECTED IT FOR DAMAGE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY OBVIOUS PROBLEMS. THIS HAPPENED FIVE MORE TIMES ON THAT TRIP. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC THAT FOUND NOTHING WRONG. HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED. THEY WERE IN BALANCE. STARTED RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE DEATH WOBBLE. FOUND THE STEERING DAMPER WAS LOOSE AND TIGHTENED IT. HELPED A LITTLE BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. TAKING IT TO A DEALER NEXT TO HAVE THE DAMPING AND ALIGNMENT COMPONENTS REPLACED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE VEHICLE IS STOCK.

THE STABILIZER LINK AND BOLTS THAT SECURED THE LINKS WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

BOUGHT 2007 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X IN APRIL 2010. 2 MONTHS LATER WHILE FILLING IT UP AT THE GAS STATION THE GAS CAME POURING BACK OUT. I THOUGHT PUMP WAS BROKEN ACTUALLY INFORMED CLERK. HAPPENED AGAIN 3 FILL-UPS LATER. AROUND THAT TIME STARTED HAVING A SHIMMY IN FRONT END. BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WAS TOLD THEY NEVER HEARD OF GAS COMING BACK OUT I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG AND THE SHIMMY WAS "NORMAL" FOR JEEPS. BEEN HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN ANY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. I'VE ONLY BOUGHT USED. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE 02 SENSORS CHANGED 4 TIMES. I HAVE MY TIRES BALANCED SEVERAL TIMES. MY TIRES ROTATED. ALIGNMENTS, ETC. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. FAST FORWARD TO 2013. SHIMMY IS SO BAD I ALMOST TOOK OUT ANOTHER DRIVER. THANKFULLY I'M A COMMERCIALLY TRAINED DRIVER OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE ENDED BADLY. STILL HAVE GAS POURING OUT EVERY FILL UP. 02 SENSORS STILL KEEP CRAPPING OUT. HEAD GASKETS HAD TO BE REPLACED ALREADY. I FINALLY HAD ENOUGH AND TOLD DEALER THEY NEED TO FIX NO MORE GAMES AND I FIND OUT ABOUT THE TSB FOR THE STEERING DAMPER. THEN I ALSO HAVE TO BE TOLD THAT MY MAIN REAR OIL SEAL IS NOW LEAKING AND MY TRANNY COOLANT LINES ARE LEAKING??? OH AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THIS WAS NORMAL FOR JEEPS AS WELL???? REALLY!!!!! THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 66K MILES ON IT. IT'S ALL ORIGINAL NO LIFT KITS, NO OFF ROADING, NOTHING.... THIS IS BULL... FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE SOMEBODY SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING. DRIVING MY STOCK 2007 JEEP WRANGLER ON I-77 IN CHARLESTON WV AT 65MPH. STARTED ROUNDING A LEFT HAND CURVE IN THE ROAD WHEN I HIT SOME MINOR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE STARTED BOUNCING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY NEARLY CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SHAKE WENT AWAY AT ABOUT 15-20 MPH. I THOUGHT FOR SURE A WHEEL WAS COMING OFF. I SLOWED MY SPEED BUT THIS STILL HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO ROYAL JEEP IN CHARLESTON WHERE I HAD TO LEAVE IT AND RENT A CAR FOR THE NIGHT. THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE DEATH WOBBLE THAT IS HIGHLY BEEN BROADCASTED VIA INTERNET. I HAVE A MINT, COMPLETELY STOCK JEEP WRANGLER X UNLIMITED. FIRST YEAR OF THE 4 DOOR. IT HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED AT ALL. AS SAID IT IS MINT CONDITION. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF NOT DRIVING IT MUCH, ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAY FIRST SEVERAL YEARS I HAD IT. I DROVE A OLDER CAR AS MY EVERYDAY VEHICLE. THE JEEP WAS AND IS MY TOY. I HAD TO START DRIVING IT MORE IN 2011, THAT'S WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS CLEAR. THERE HAVE BEEN NEWS PIECES DONE ABOUT IT AND NOW CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN BLAMING IT ON EVERYONE ELSE BUT THEIR POOR DESIGN. THEY SHOULD E HELD ACCOUNTABLE. JUST THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY STARTING AT 50 MPH. IN THE PAST, MY JEEP WILL EXPERIENCE THE DEATH WOBBLE BETWEEN 50-60 MPH. I NEED TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 20 MPH FOR THE WOBBLE TO STOP. THIS IS NOT SAFE! DURING MY TRIP THAT DAY, I HAD THREE MORE EPISODES OF VIOLENT SHAKING AS I HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD WHEN I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD RECENTLY READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR JEEP WRANGLERS, ALTHOUGH I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM BEFORE. MY JEEP IS A 2007 4-DOOR WRANGLER WHICH ONLY HAS 10,400 MILES ON IT BECAUSE I USUALLY KEEP IT GARAGED AT A BEACH HOME IN DELAWARE AND I USE IT ONLY DURING SUMMER WEEKENDS. THE JEEP IS A STOCK MODEL WITH NO AFTER MARKET MODIFICATIONS. I HAD DRIVEN IT HOME TO MARYLAND TO HAVE A DEALER CHECKUP BEFORE I RETURNED THE JEEP TO THE BEACH. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ON MY THIRD TRIP AFTER THE DEALER SERVICE BUT IT WAS MY FIRST TRIP DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE STABILIZER BAR AND STEERING DAMPENER WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE STEERING DAMPENER AND STABILIZER BAR, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

FOR YOUR URGENT REVIEW AND ACTION: I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45 MPH AND THE FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL OF MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY! I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING OF THE JEEP. I LOOKED UP ON THE INTERNET THIS PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED MUCH INFORMATION INCLUDING VIDEOS THAT DESCRIBE THIS VIOLENT SHAKE AS THE "DEATH WABBLE". THIS VIOLENT SHAKE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WHEN I GET UP TO SPEEDS BETWEEN 45MP AND 60MPH. SO FAR I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING STABALIZER SHOCK AND NOW MY JEEP IS BACK IN THE SHOP AT A LOCAL TIRE AND FRONT-END SERVICE CENTER GETTING NEW TIRES, WHEEL BALANCING AND A FRONT-END ALIGNMENT. BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE, THE SERVICE CENTER SAID THEY WILL NOT "TEST DRIVE" THE JEEP AFTER THIS WORK IS COMPLETE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT THEIR EMPLOYEES LIVES AT RISK. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME IF I CAN'T EVEN HAVE A SERVICE PROVIDER TEST DRIVE MY VEHICLE AFTER THEY DO THEIR WORK BECAUSE THEY FEAR SOMETHING TERRIBLE COULD HAPPEN TO THEIR LIVES. IT MAKES ME VERY SCARED TO DRIVE THIS JEEP. I AM REQUESTING THAT CHRYSLER-JEEP IMMEDIATELY REVIEW THE FIXES OF MY JEEP (INCLUDING A TEST DRIVE) WHEN I GET THE JEEP BACK AND THAT THEY COVER MY EXPENSES THUS FAR TO FIX THE "DEATH WABBLE" PLUS ANY ADDITIONAL WORK THAT THEY MAY NEED TO DO TO MAKE MY JEEP SAFE TO DRIVE BY ELIMINATING THIS VIOLENT SHAKING PROBLEM. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE, WITH THIS VIOLENT SHAKING ISSUE THAT CREATES LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, MEETS AUTOMATIVE SAFETY REGULATIONS. AT BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, WHEN A BUMP IS HIT WITH ONE WHEEL BEFORE THE OTHER A SHAKING BEGINS IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. AT TIMES THIS SHAKING IS SO VIOLENT AND SUSTAINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BE BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP. THERE IS SOME KIND OF APPARENT HARMONIC OSCILLATION THAT IS BEING ESTABLISHED FOR IT TO BE AS VIOLENT AND SUSTAINED AS IT IS. I INITIALLY REPORTED THIS TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN 2008, AFTER THE STEERING STABILIZER BRACKET BROKE OFF THE FRONT AXLE OF THE JEEP. I WAS TOLD THAT MY PROBLEMS WERE BECAUSE THE LIFT KIT THAT WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A MOPAR APPROVED KIT. JEEPS RESOLUTION WAS FOR ME TO PURCHASE A NEW FRONT AXLE AT MY COST AND REPLACE THE LIFT KIT THAT WAS ON THE VEHICLE. THE LIFT WAS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED AND IS ONE OF THE TOP KITS ON THE MARKET. SINCE THIS TIME, I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER ABOUT EVERY 10K-12K MILES. EACH TIME THE I DO, THIS REDUCES THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. EACH TIME I HAVE DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH A JEEP SERVICE CENTER, I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A LIFT ISSUE AND NOT JEEP'S PROBLEM. FROM THE MANY COMPLAINTS THAT I CONTINUE TO READ ON JEEP FORUMS IN WHICH PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION/STEERING SYSTEM ON THE JK. I HAVE READ REPORTS FROM PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS WITH THE STOCK SUSPENSION, AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF LIFT SYSTEMS AND TIRE/RIM CONFIGURATIONS. MY FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY...I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO SLAM INTO THE SIDE OF THAT TRACTOR TRAILER. THE SO CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE" IS A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE, AND FRANKLY SOMETHING THREATENING MY LIFE REALLY PISSES ME OFF. MY JEEP IS STOCK..NEVER LIFTED AND NO MODIFICATIONS. WHILE DRIVING ON A SECONDARY ROAD AT 50 MPH, I CROSSED A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHERE A CULVERT HAD BEEN REPLACED. THE BLACKTOP WAS REPLACED ON THE ROAD AND NO VISIBLE OBSTRUCTIONS WERE NOTICED. THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I THOUGHT I HAD BLOWN A TIRE OR A BALL JOINT HAD FAILED. I CAME TO A STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, FEARING I'D GET REAR-ENDED MAKING A STOP SO SUDDENLY. I GOT OUT OF THE JEEP TO CHECK THE TIRES, ETC AND NOTHING LOOKED OUT OF PLACE - NO FLAT TIRES, NO SIGN OF JOINTS FAILING. I GOT BACK IN THE JEEP AND SLOWLY STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN A 4 WEEK SPAN AT LEAST 4 TIMES AT THE SAME LOCATION. BUT WHEN I WOULD DRIVE WITH OTHERS IN THEIR VEHICLES, THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEMS. I ENDED UP TAKING MY JEEP TO THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY REPLACED BALL JOINTS, U JOINTS AND ALSO ALIGNED THE FRONT END. SEVERE WOBBLE IN FRONT END WHERE CONTROL OF VEHICLE IS HARD TO MAINTAIN. IT BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY AND BRIEFLY AND NOW IS REPETITIVE AND SUSTAINED. MY WRANGLER IS NOW BEING EVALUATED FOR THE FOURTH TIME AND NEEDS A STEERING DAMPENER REPLACED (WHICH WAS THE RECALL) ALONG WITH REPLACING UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. CHRYSLER REPORTEDLY HAD 4,000 OF THESE VEHICLES RECALLED UNDER SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: CSN-J34 WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS LIKE IT IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHAKES/WOBBLES AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING 70 MPH OR MORE OVER A ROAD BUMP, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE EXTREMELY HARD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO MOMENTARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPERS, TIRES AND THE BALL JOINTS BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE HOW TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, AND THE FRONT END BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I STARTED PULLING OVER AND WHEN I GOT DOWN TO 35 MPH, THE SHAKING STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT INCIDENCE, AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. THIS WAS A STOCK JEEP BOUGHT NEW WITHOUT ANY AFTER-MARKET ALTERATIONS WITH ONLY 52K MILES. I TOOK IT INTO MIDAS, AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING STABILIZER. THEY REPLACED IT, AND IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC, AND THEY REPLACED TRACKBAR, BUT IT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT BACK TO MIDAS, AND THEY PUT ANOTHER NEW STABILIZER, STILL HAD THE PROBLEM WITH EVER-INCREASING FREQUENCY. I PUT NEW TIRES ON THE CAR, AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT 20K MILES. AT 73K, THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME I TOOK IT THE JEEP DEALER. THEY KNEW WHAT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WAS, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK EVERYTHING. THEY REPORTED BACK THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE COMPONENTS, AND SUGGESTED I GET THE TIRES BALANCED AGAIN. I GOT THE TIRES BALANCED AND TOOK IT BACK A WEEK LATER TO THE DEALER AS THE PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING WITH MORE FREQUENCY, AND NOW WAS OCCURRING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45-55 MPH. I SUGGESTED A PARTICULAR PATCH OF HIGHWAY FOR A TEST DRIVE. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID, "THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG." THEY THEN WORKED WITH CHRYSLER TO IDENTIFY AND "SOLVE" THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE TIRE RODS AND JOINTS. THREE DAYS LATER I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN, AND THEN AGAIN, AND AGAIN. I HAVE SPENT APPROXIMATELY $1400 TO "FIX" THIS PROBLEM, AND IT CONTINUES TO PERSIST. DO AN ONLINE SEARCH OF "DEATH WOBBLE" AND YOU'LL FIND ENTRY AFTER ENTRY AND EVEN VIDEOS. I'M REALLY WORRIED THAT ONE OF THESE TIMES WHEN I AND FORCED TO QUICKLY SLOW DOWN AND HEAD TO THE SHOULDER, I'M GOING TO END UP REAR ENDED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER.

WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MILES PER HOUR AND HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE FRONT END STARTED SHAKING LIKE I HAD BLOWN A TIRE. I PULLED OVER, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND DROVE AWAY. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WAS ADVISED STEERING STABILIZER WAS DEFECTIVE,TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, AFTER THAT ONLY TO DRIVE AWAY IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. GOT TIRED OF FIGHTING WITH JEEP TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO I HAD TO GET THE PARTS AND FIX IT MYSELF, BUT I STILL HAVE THE OLD PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE.
