The fuel filler neck has an issue. When I refuel, I have to stop the pump manually or the filler cap will overflow. This creates a significant risk for fire or explosion unless I very carefully monitor how much fuel I am putting in the vehicle. I see several other owners experiencing this issue from online information I'm reading. I feel that this is an issue which should be repaired by the manufacturer.
While pumping fuel the nozzle will continuously trip or spill gasoline back out of the fuel tank filler hose.
I own the Jeep for 6 months now and at each fill up, fuel gets spit out of f the filler neck at the end. I try running slow, manual and the noses in different position. The jeep dealer say, there is no problem or recall for my VIN. But there is a recall part :(CNNNX321AC Tube) available form Mopar, there don't sell to the public. I like to fix this problem for more than one reason. Environmental, wasting Fuel, damaging the paint and plastic, fire hazard and fuel smell on my closes. I am a retired senior master Car technician, German (Kraftfahrzeug mechaniker Meister)with 50 years experience.
This has happened on more than 1 occasion. Driving on the highway and I lose power, the Jeep slows way down, the accelerator pedal is dead, and the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) light comes on. It does the same thing driving in town. Sometimes you can turn the vehicle off, wait a couple minutes, start it back up and it will be ok for a little bit. Sometimes it won’t. I have replaced some parts, read forums, communicated with a dealer service department and it doesn’t sound like there is a “fix” for this. This is very dangerous and someone could get seriously injured or killed.

FUELING HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAD A SHUT OFF PROBLEM IN THAT THE GAS WOULD EJECT FROM THE CAR. THEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH SLOW FUELING. IT MIGHT TAKE A GALLON THEN ALMOST STOP TAKING FOREVER TO PUT FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BEGNAL MOTORS IN KINGSTON AND THEY DID ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND REPLACED THE INTAKE NOZZLE? AND SOMETHING TO ALLOW AIR INTO THE TANK WHEN REFUELING. IT SEEMED TO BE OK FOR AWHILE THEN WENT BACK TO THE FUELING PROBLEM. I TOOK IT BACK TO BEGNAL AND THEY SEEMED TO BELIEVE THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK AT MY EXPENSE! THIS IS A LIABILITY TO MY SAFETY. I DROVE THE JEEP TO CALIFORNIA AND BACK THE END OF JUNE OF THIS YEAR AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM...I HAVE TO USE MY VEHICLE FOR MANY TRIPS OUT OF TOWN AND IT IS FRIGHTENING AS THEY TOLD ME THIS PROBLEM WOULD PROBABLY GET WORSE! THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY CHRYSLER. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM.

I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT MY JEEP IS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS COSTLY REPAIR MYSELF. I FIND THIS UNFAIR OF CHRYSLER TO DO THIS TO FAITHFUL JEEP OWNERS. GAS CAP SENSOR LIGHT ON. WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS, THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF AT THE PUMP CLICKS OFF, THEN WITHIN 5/10 SECONDS THE GAS STARTS TO SURGE OUT OF THE TANK ALL DOWN THE JEEP, OVER THE GROUND, OVER ME. THE GAS TANK AND ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED 3 TIMES IN 2011 WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM KEPT COMING BACK. THE SAME PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN 2013. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND FOUND THAT IT IS COVERED UNDER AN UNLIMITED MILES UNLIMITED MONTHS EXTENDED WARRANTY. GLAD WE CALLED BECAUSE WE DIDN'T GET ANY NOTICE OF THIS EXTENDED COVERAGE IN THE MAIL. A SEPARATE ISSUE BEGAN IN 2012 WITH SOME LEAKAGE OF GAS UNDER THE VEHICLE AND AN ODOR OF GAS OUTSIDE THE CAR IF THE TANK WAS FILLED UP ALL THE WAY. SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, OUR PERSONAL MECHANIC HANDLED IT. HE REPLACED A HOSE THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE FUEL TANK (THE SAME GAS CAP SENSOR LIGHT WAS ON FOR THIS PROBLEM TOO). HE ALSO TIGHTENED THE FUEL PUMP AT THE TANK WHERE THE GAS WAS LEAKING FROM AND HE FOUND A CRACK IN THE TANK WHICH HE PATCHED. THIS FIXED THE ODOR AND LEAKING OF GAS FROM UNDER THE JEEP. IF THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN IN THE FUTURE, NOW KNOWING ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE OTHER PROBLEM, WE WILL CONTACT THE DEALER ABOUT IT TO SEE IF IT IS COVERED TOO AS IT IS GAS TANK RELATED. NOTE - IT WAS RIGHT AFTER OUR MECHANIC FIXED THE ODOR AND UNDER CAR LEAK THAT THE OTHER PROBLEM OF THE GAS SURGING OUT OF THE PUMP STARTED AGAIN. *TR

I TOOK IT TO LARRY H. MILLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DEALERSHIP IN ALBUQUERQUE AND THIS IS WHAT WAS DONE. "WI TECH DIAGNOSTICS FOR FAULT CODES, HAD STORE CODES FOR INJECTOR #6 CIRCUIT, NO WORK DONE, OPERATING AS PER DESIGN". I ASKED WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND [XXX] SAID THAT THE TECH COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY COULD NOT FIX ANYTHING. [XXX] OFFERED TO PERFORM A FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING BUT THIS WAS THE ONLY OPTIONS FOR NOW. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE JEEP AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I LOOKED UP THIS CODE 0306 ON THE JEEP JK SITE AND READ POSTS OF "PENTASTAR PROBLEM". IN ALL CASES THESE PEOPLE HAD TO VISIT THE DEALERSHIP 4 TO 5 TIMES UNTIL THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. HAVE JK 2R RUBICON MODEL. WHEN TRAVELING IN THE HIGH COUNTRY IN COLORADO I START TO SMELL FUEL FUMES AROUND NOON AND THEY DO NOT GO AWAY UNTIL WE REFUEL AT THE END OF THE DAY. THE FUEL TANK GET SO HOT THE ETHANOL BOILS OFF AND THE EMISSION SYSTEM CANNOT HANDLE THE FUMES SO THEY VENT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. THE JEEP FILLS WITH FUMES AND VEHICLES BEHIND CAN SMELL THEM TOO. ALL OF THE TWO DOOR JK MODELS WE TRAVEL WITH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. JEEP HAS BEEN OF NO HELP AND SAY THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO SOLUTION. ON EVERY FILL UP FOR GAS SINCE JANUARY AFTER I OR AN ATTENDANT WHO FILLS THE GAS TANK GETS SPLASHED/SOAKED WITH GAS. UPON REMOVING THE NOZZLE THE GAS 'BURPS' BACK AND SPRAYS GASOLINE OUT OF THE TANK. THE GAS SPLASH STARTED OUT VERY SMALL AND NOT AS FREQUENTLY BUT NOW IT RUSHES OUT LIKE A WATERFALL AND EVERY FILL UP.
