The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the cruise control was engaged but failed to respond. The contact stated that the cruise control button was located on the side of the steering wheel. The contact also stated that the steering wheel would make abnormal clicking and grinding sounds while turning. The ABS warning light, stability control warning light, and the parking brake warning light were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failures were related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V290000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. MANUFACTURER JEEP AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP ARE AWARE OF THE SAFETY RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING GET THE ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF FOR OVER 6 MONTHS NOW, AND JEEP AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (ANCHORAGE CHRYSLER CENTER) REFUSE TO FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE. I BROUGHT IN MY JEEP TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A SCHEDULED RECALL FIX. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX IT AT THAT TIME BECAUSE THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A PART THEY WEREN'T AWARE THE RECALL REQUIRED. THEY INFORMED ME THE PART WOULD ARRIVE IN ABOUT 4 DAYS AND THEY CONTACT ME. THAT WAS OVER TWO MONTHS AGO. THEY HAVEN'T CONTACTED ME AND ON THE RARE INSTANCES I GET A HOLD OF THEM THEY JUST SAY THEY NEED TO ORDER THE PART EVERY TIME. SO THEY HAVE NEVER ORDERED THE PART AND CLEARLY HAVE NO INTENTION OF DOING SO. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW BECAUSE OF JEEP AND IT'S DEALERSHIPS UNWILLINGNESS TO FULFILL THEIR LEGAL OBLIGATIONS.
I HAVE REACHED OUT TO GERRY WOOD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE SEVERAL TIMES REGARDING THE RECALL POST CARD I RECEIVE EVERY COUPLE MONTHS REGARDING A RECALL ON S 33 AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING. I ALSO CALLED DODGE HEADQUARTERS WITH NO RESULTS BECAUSE THE TRANSFERRED MY CALL BACK TO JERRY WOULD CHRYSLERJEEP DODGE. THE JEEP AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEY TELL ME THE PART IS NOT IN THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN IT IS DELIVERED. I NEVER HEAR BACK FROM ANYONE. IT HAS BEEN A YEAR GOING BACK AND FORTH ABOUT THIS. I'M HESITANT TO DRIVE THE JEEP BECAUSE I COULD POSSIBLY BE INJURED OR INJURE OTHERS. I NEED HELP.

HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG DASHBOARD LIGHT ACTIVATING. THIS WOULD OCCUR AT SPEEDS OF ZERO UP TO HIGHWAY AND WOULD COME AND GO WITHOUT WARNING. THE OBD-II CODE WAS B1B8F, DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN. AFTER REMOVING THE DRIVER SEAT TO ACCESS THE WIRING HARNESS DISCOVERED THAT ONE WIRE WAS BROKEN AT THE SENSOR, PARTIALLY HELD TOGETHER BY A "THREAD" OF THE WIRE INSULATION WITH BARE METAL EXPOSED. THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN INSTALLED UNDER THE SEAT WITH THE WIRE PULLED TIGHT TO THE UNDER SEAT "SPRING" WIRE SUPPORT AND HELD IN PLACE WITH A ZIP TIE. I CONSIDER IT LIKELY THAT THE UP-AND-DOWN MOTION OF THE SEAT OVER A PERIOD OF YEARS CAUSED THE HARNESS WIRE TO BREAK. THE FIRST PICTURE SHOWS THE CONNECTOR TO WHICH THE BROKEN WIRE WAS ATTACHED. UNFORTUNATELY THE BROKE WIRE IS IN THE BACK, THE ONE WITH THE PURPLE STRIPE. THE SECOND PICTURE SHOWS THE BROKEN WIRE AFTER THE WIRE PLUG WAS PULLED OUT OF THE CONNECTOR,

TAKATA RECALL I AM FILING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE IT IS APPALLING THAT SUCH A DANGEROUS SITUATION CREATED BY THE FAILURE OF AIRBAGS AND INVOLVING A RECALL ACTUALLY HAS NO SOLUTION AND HAS NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN A SOLUTION WILL BE AVAILABLE, THIS IS INCREDIBLY SERIOUS AND IMPORTANT, YET THERE IS NO SOLUTION. WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS NOT AVAILABLE AND TO CALL BACK IN APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS. I CALLED APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS LATER TO SAME FACILITY AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. A REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT ONE OF THE RECALLED PARTS WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I ASKED IF I COULD ORDER THE PART AND SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. REQUEST WAS DENIED. THE REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDED TO TRY AND HAVE ME CALL THE NATIONAL DODGE PARTS DEPT TO INQUIRE WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD NOT BE WILLING TO SPEND MY PERSONAL TIME (AN EXPENSE) CHASING DOWN A PART THAT HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO ORDER. I THEN ASKED IF HE WOULD MAKE THAT CALL AND GET THAT INFORMATION TO ME. HE REFUSED TO HELP ME AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO END THE CALL. THEN I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH HIS MANGER. AROUND 20 MINUTES LATER SOMEONE WHO WAS NOT HIS MANAGER PROCEEDED TO GIVE FALSE INFORMATION SAYING THAT THEY COULD REPLACE ONE OF THE PARTS AND 'INSPECT' THE OTHER RECALLED PART TO SEE IF IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I INFORMED THE UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN THAT, CONSIDERING THE QUESTIONABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WOULD NO LONGER FEEL SAFE TRUSTING THEIR DEALERSHIP TO MAKE REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. AT FIRST MY HORN STOP WORKING (ALSO CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING) AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, BUT I HAD TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER A LITTLE DEEPER WHEN MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON.

BUT WHEN I CALLED THE CHRYSLER / JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE & TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER / JEEP DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED- I WAS TOLD MY MAKE / MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO I HAD TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF MY OWN POCKET ($499.17 TO BE EXACT - SEE ATTACHED INVOICE). TALK ABOUT A SHOCK - I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT IT WOULD BE THIS EXPENSIVE - BUT TO BE PROTECTED AND SAFE IN MY VEHICLE IT HAD TO BE DONE. AIRBAG FAILURE ILLUMINATION, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY INDICATE THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS THE ISSUE AND MAY CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY WITH OUT A CRASH. I CONTACTED JEEP THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY DID SAY THEY WOULD CHIP IN AND ONLY CHARGE ME $600.00.BUT THAT OFFER WAS ONLY GOOD FOR 30 DAYS AFTER I REPORTED THE ISSUE. THIS LEFT ME WITH NO OTHER RECOURSE OTHER THEN PAYING THE $600.00 TO PULL THE FUSE TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I NOW NOTE THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM ON RIGHT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES LIKE MINE. THEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED THE SYSTEM WENT SHUDDERY AND QUIT WORKING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2007 THRU 2013 JEEP WRANGLERS AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PART, EXCEPT THAT CRYSLER HAS DETERMINED THAT IT ONLY AFFECTS A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF JEEPS. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. A SEARCH ON GOOGLE WILL SHOW HUNDREDS OF CASES WHERE THE CLOCK SPRING BREAKS, CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO BECOME TURNED OFF AND THE END AND TCS SYSTEMS TO GO HAYWIRE, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE AND UNDRIVEABLE. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO RECALL THE PART IN WRANGLERS JEEP LIBERTY AND TWO OTHER BRANDS. THE HAZZARD IS COMPOUNDED IMMENSELY IF YOU HAPPEN TO GET (DEATH WOBBLE) YET ANOTHER UNFIXED ISSUE. MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL AUTO SERVICE. AFTER TESTING IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A NORMAL LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEP WRANGLER 2009. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN PREVIOUS YEARS AND WAS ON RECALL DURING THOSE YEARS. DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE LIGHT ON IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE YET RESOLVED BY JEEP. I AM LOOKING TO HAE MY MONEY REFUNDED FOR THE CORRECTION OF THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. ABOUT THREE OR FOUR DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, I NOTICED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE(2009 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON - LHD), THAT THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WAS LIT, INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. I HAD NOTICED PREVIOUSLY THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AND THEN GO AWAY, SO I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. HOWEVER, ON THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT, AS I DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A THIN PLASTIC WRAPPER "CRINKLING" AS IF CAUGHT BETWEEN THE STATIONARY PART OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE ROTATING REAR SECTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED A FLAT STRIP PLASTIC ENCASED COPPER WIRE LEADS APPEARED TO BE UNRAVELING FROM BETWEEN THE STATIONARY PORTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE ROTATING REAR SECTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO MY AUTO REPAIR GARAGE, AND THE TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED THE PART AS THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY. THE ASSEMBLY APPARENTLY FAILED DURING NORMAL VEHICLE USE AND NOW RESULTS IN A REDUCED LEVEL OF PROTECTION FOR MYSELF IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT. AFTER RESEARCHING THE MATTER, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2008, 2009 AND 2010 JEEP WRANGLERS (LHD) HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR FAILURES WITH THEIR AIRBAGS. THE REPAIR GARAGE ADVISED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON RHD JEEP WRANGLERS OF THE SAME MODEL YEARS FOR THE SAME ASSEMBLY. *TR

MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON. IT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON AND OFF AFTER THAT UNTIL I HAD IT FIXED. IT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF WITH A FREQUENCY OF ABOUT ONE EVERY OTHER MINUTE SOUNDING OFF A WARNING CHIME. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT THIS SYMPTOM IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY MODEL YEAR OF VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MODEL YEARS 2007 AND UP. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE CLOCKSPRING MECHANISM IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIR BAG. IT APPARENTLY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG AND IS ALREADY THE SUBJECT OF RECALLS ON OTHER MODEL YEARS AS WELL AS A RECALL ON THE 2009 RHD VERSION OF THE WRANGLER. THEY CLEARLY ARE USING THE SAME PART ON THESE MODELS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL MODELS THAT HAVE THIS PART. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED AND JEEP DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING MECHANISM AND I HAD IT REPLACED AS IT OBVIOUSLY IS A SAFETY RISK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AND HAVE THEM RECALL ALL MODELS WITH THE SAME CLOCKSPRING MECHANISM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. I AM CURRENTLY NEGOTIATING WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATION REGARDING THIS REPAIR BUT I PAID FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR MYSELF. *TR

ALL THREE OF OUR SAME LIKE VEHICLES AT WORK HAVE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER YOUR GAS JUST CUTS OFF YOU CAN COUNT A SECOND OR TWO AND GAS COME FLYING OUT WHERE YOU PUT IT IN. JUST DO A SEARCH ON UTUBE AND YOU CAN SEE A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THIS. PUT IN SOMETHING LIKE JEEP WRANGLER FUELING. ALSO ALL THREE OF OUR FOUR DOOR JEEP 2009 WRANGLER RIGHT HAND DRIVE AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS BUT JEEP WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FORE US. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE ESP/BAS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH RESULTED IN A COMPLETE LOSS IN THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CLOCK SPRING MODULE WAS BEING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME WITHIN ONE YEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,400. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
