THE 2012 Jeep 4 door Wrangler had the ABS Control Module internal error failure, this makes the car unsafe to drive. The dealer cannot get repair parts, the car is un-repaired since October 2025. Further, they cannot source the chips for the components, the make cannot provide a delivery date.(UNKNOWN when this will be rectified. Other years of this car have been recalled for this issue. This year has not yet. PLEASE Help us !)
I was driving through a parking lot, I made a left turn and the airbag light lit up on the dashboard.Then, a chime sounded, like a low fuel chime or door open chime. I turned off the jeep and went inside the store, I then returned to my jeep, started it back up, and drove home. Every time I’m at a low speed, and make a left turn, that same chime sound starts to chime and the airbag light flickers. A scan detected the following: B1B06(1/3)Active B1CDC(3/3)Stored B1B56(2/3)Stored I checked for a recall, but can not find anything helpful.
The Air Bag warning light is one and won't go off.

The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning light had been illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was scanned and diagnosed with DTC code: B1B02; for a failure with the driver’s side air bag. Additionally, the clock spring test had failed internally. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after further investigation the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V176000 (Air Bags) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 169,051.

The airbag indicator illuminated, and upon getting a diagnostic inspection from the dealership, the issue is the clock spring that is faulty. The shroud is another price required for replacement.
Clockspring failed causing airbag to malfunction. Jeep dealer ordered a replacement in April 2023 and still has not received the part(even though they have one in stock the manufacturer will not allow them to use and install the stock clockspring). We have been forced to drive the vehicle without an operating clockspring which creates a major safety hazard since the airbags may not deploy on impact.

There has been numerous safety recalls for this Jeep on the airbag. The airbag warning light came on and now the horn does not work.
I noticed that the air bag light came in about 6-12 months ago. I am very concerned because, my Jeep is in excellent shape, however, I transport my 94 yo mom around, so this really bothers me. I have seen several recalls regarding air bags in my model, so I wanted to see if this would be part of one of the recalls. I had my mechanic review and to replace would cost me about $800, which I do not have. If this is due to a failure on Jeeps part, I would like this taken care of.
The air bag light has come on and off for years now and even after the recall and paying to have it fixed there is still the light on the dash. Using Jeep forums and web pages this is a very common issue with the JK wrangler apparently. I do not have the funds to have fixed Code B1C2D circuit open
Front-end crash resulted in airbags busting instead of inflating. Current back and neck injuries.
Airbag light mostly on all the time last few days. Years ago cruise control would go out and fix was to blow horn 15 seconds and it would work (true) due to bad clock spring that jeep knows is bad. They did a recall but stopped the year before my jeep even though have the same spring and no dust cover. It's over a thousand dollars to repair, which I cannot afford. Just hoping it doesn't blow up on me while driving. Jeep dealer charges hundreds just to scan codes here.
Becoming the new owner in 2021, I was issued a recall for the passenger airbag inflator replacement. After repairing this recall, the vehicle air bag light came on and has not turned off since. I made several attempts with dearlership to access the problem and in May 2022 the dealership diagnosed the problem stating it was the airbag clockspring. This clockspring had a recall on it in June 2016 and was replaced in September 2016. The dealership along with another AMS certified mechanics shop stated the clockspring that was replaced in 2016 is defective. This is causing multiple safety issues with the vehicle. The anti skid system activates, the anti lock braking is activated, the cruise control will not operate, along with the fact the air bags are inoperable or not operating at full capacity as they are required to.
Farmers Insurance reporting - customer brought in vehicle for repair after an auto accident. The airbag did not deploy in the accident, but while being worked on the airbag deployed and caused severe injury to the employee of our insured policy holder. Contractor determined the airbag deployed due to the clock spring error.
I placed a box of candles on my passenger seat. I drove less than 1 mile when my airbag light came on. The box weighed less than 10lbs. The light is still and and dings every few minutes

ON AUG 3, 2020, I NOTICED MY OUTSIDE TEMP WAS READING CELSIUS SO I TRIED TO CHANGE IT BACK TO FAHRENHEIT. BUTTON WAS NOT WORKING. CHECKED MY HORN...NOTHING....CRUISE CONTROL....NOTHING. I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL MAKING CLICKING KIND OF POPPING SOUND. 30 MIN LATER, I PUT MY JEEP IN PARK AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED.

I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER TO PERFORM THE RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH THEY PERFORMED AND AS A RESULT OF THAT REPLACEMENT I NOW HAVE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH, THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK, HORN INCLUDED AND WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THEY INDICATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO INCUR THE COST OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM AND COVERING THE COSTS. ALL WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL THE AIRBAG RECALL. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A BAY BEING WORKED ON FOR THE RECALL. THE DATE REFLECTS THE DAY THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING

WAS TOLD BY RECEPTIONIST IN SERVICE THAT THEY COULD NOT ORDER PARTS BECAUSE OF EXPENSE AND WOULD HAVE TO WAIT POSSIBLY MONTHS BECAUSE THEY COULD ONLY ORDER 1 PART AT A TIME. MEANWHILE I CANNOT DRIVE CAR BECAUSE OF DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERNS

I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND TO MY SURPRISE, THEY CLAIMED THEY HAD NO RECORD ON THEIR COMPUTERS ABOUT ME PURCHASING THAT JEEP. THEY THEN CLAIMED THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS WRONG-MY 2012 WRANGLER HAS NO TAKATA AIRBAGS IN THEM. I ASKED WHY THEY DELATED MY PURCHASE INFO FROM THEIR COMPUTERS AND HE COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER-ONLY SILENCE. I KNOW THOSE AIRBAGS COULD EXPLODE IN HOT WEATHER, SO I HOPE TO CHANGE THEM BY THE SPRING. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN AZ. PLEASE HELP. THE JEEP WAS JERKED OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH ON THE RIGHT, HIT THE FRONT END OF THE DITCH AND WAS LAUNCHED AIRBORNE, THEN CRASHED ON THE CEMENT WALL OF A SECOND DITCH, BOUNCING TWICE BEFORE LANDING IN THE DITCH AND HITTING THE FRONT END OF THAT DITCH. I REPEATEDLY SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOT ENGAGE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY SEAT BELT TENSIONER DID NOT ENGAGE, CAUSING ME TO BE THROWN FORWARD AND BACKWARDS REPEATEDLY. I SUFFERED A CLOSED HEAD INJURY AND HERNIATIONS TO MULTIPLE DISCS IN MY NECK AS WELL AS TRAUMA TO THE FACET JOINTS IN MY NECK, RESULTING IN SEVERE FORAMINAL STENOSIS AT MULTIPLE LEVELS THAT REQUIRES NEUROSURGICAL INTERVENTION. I SLAMMED MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL 4 TIMES, MY CHEST ONCE. THIS ACCIDENT FOREVER CHANGED MY LIFE. I HAVE REPEATEDLY CALLED FCA TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT, AM ALWAYS TOLD SOMEONE WILL CALL ME BACK. IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO YEARS AND NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD SOMEONE WOULD COME LOOK AT MY VEHICLE TO INSPECT IT, NEVER HAPPENED. AS I FACE URGENT SURGERY TO MY SPINE WITH PAIN TO MY NECK RADIATING DOWN MY RIGHT ARM, ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS CHRYSLER. THEY RECALLED 2016-2017 JEEP WRANGLERS FOR FAULTY WIRING OF THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE, AS WELL AS JEEP PATRIOTS AND COMPASSES MADE THE SAME YEAR AS MY VEHICLE ALONG WITH MILLIONS OF OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. FCA REFUSES TO RETURN MY PHONE CALLS, HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE THEY IGNORING? THE JEEP HIT THE FRONT END OF THE DITCH AT AN ANGLE THAT LAUNCHED IT AIRBORNE, THEN LANDED ON THE CEMENT WALL OF A CULVERT APPROXIMATELY TWO FEET AWAY. I THEN LANDED IN ANOTHER DITCH (A CULVERT WITH 2 CEMENT WALLS), WHERE THE JEEP BOUNCED TWICE ON THE CEMENT WALL, CRACKING THE FRAME EACH TIME, THEN LANDED IN THE DITCH, WHERE I KEPT GOING UNTIL I HIT A SMALL CONSTRUCTION POLE. MY JEEP HAD THE ADDITIONAL SIDE AIRBAG PACKAGE. DESPITE THE SEVERITY OF THE CRASH, MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND MY SEAT BELT NEVER TIGHTENED. THIS RESULTED IN ME BEING THROWN FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS MULTIPLE TIMES (AT LEAST 3 THAT I RECALL). I SUFFERED A TBI, AND MISSED 2.5 MONTHS OF WORK. I HAD TO QUIT MY SECOND JOB. I HAVE ALSO HAD ONGOING NECK PAIN, INITIALLY THOUGHT TO BE MUSCULAR. AN MRI RECENTLY COMPLETED SHOWS DISK HERNIATION OF C3-C6.

THAT IS, CHRYSLER THEREFORE DOES NOT CONSIDER AIR BAGS A MAJOR COMPONENT. AS A CONSUMER, SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS AND I IS A MAJOR ISSUE. THUS, I ENDED UP PAYING NEARLY $1,000 TO REPAIR THE ISSUE AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I AM HEARING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM WRANGLER OWNERS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT.

AFTER DRIVING SOME NATIONAL FOREST GRAVEL ROADS IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS IN WASHINGTON STATE, MY AIR BAG DASH BOARD INDICATING LIGHT TURNED ON. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC EAMINATION OF THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT THE CAR'S TIPM COMPUTER HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND WAS NO LONGER SUPPLYING POWER TO THE AIRBAGS AND THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW TIPM AND QUOTED ME A PRICE OF ABOUT $1,400. I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND DISCOVERED OTHER PEOPLE HAD ALSO EXPERIENCED EARLY TIPM COMPUTER FAILURES. FAILURE OF TIPM IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT DISABLES THE AIR BAG SYSTEM AS HAS HAPPENED ON MY JEEP.

THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND THE FAULT WAS WITH THE CLOCK SPRING AND ADVISED ME THAT IT SHOULD BE A WARRANTY ITEM. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE CLOCK SPRING (L37/NHTSA11V-528) FOR 2008-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS, AND THAT A SIMILAR RECALL FOR THE 2007 MODELS HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO INCLUDE THE LEFT HAND DRIVE MODELS AND THE WARRANTY ON THE CLOCK SPRING HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS, 150,000 MILES. LOOKING AT BLOGS ON THE INTERNET, THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK SPRING WITH JEEP VEHICLES. I EVEN FOUND SOME DOCUMENTATION THAT OF THE 181 COMPLAINTS THAT WERE FILED FOR THE INITIAL RECALL, 82 WERE IN RHD'S... SO 99 WERE IN LHD'S... *TR
