The engine makes a rhythmic metallic tapping at idle and during acceleration. The noise has progressively worsened, leading to rough idle and occasional misfires. This issue is documented in multiple Stellantis technical service bulletins (e.g., TSB 09-015-24 and TSB 09-011-25) which attribute the noise to hydraulic lash adjuster and cam/rocker wear. If unaddressed, the failure can cause camshaft damage, metal debris contamination, loss of power and potential engine stall, posing a safety risk. The vehicle is available for inspection. I am reporting a persistent and safety-relevant defect in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6L Pentastar engine. The vehicle is experiencing misfires on multiple cylinders, especially cylinders 1 and 5, triggering codes P0300, P0301, and P0305. These misfires result in loss of power, hesitation, and rough idle, creating serious safety concerns during acceleration or highway driving. Despite replacing spark plugs, ignition coils, the crankshaft position sensor, purge valve, and both oxygen sensors, the problem continues. The vehicle has just 83,000 miles and is currently at a certified third-party repair facility. Multiple mechanics believe the issue stems from known defects in the left (Bank 1) cylinder head or valve train components—an issue Chrysler previously acknowledged via TSBs and a 10yr/150k mile extended warranty on select VINs. I contacted Jeep Cares and requested goodwill support, but they refused to even discuss the issue because my Jeep is not at a dealership. This leaves owners like me with limited, expensive options despite being affected by a well-documented defect. Jeep forums and independent shops have seen widespread misfire problems on early 3.6L Pentastar engines, especially 2012-2013 models. I urge NHTSA to investigate this pattern of failure. The misfires impact driveability and safety, and the manufacturer has not offered sufficient resolution or consistent support to affected customers. The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the ABS, Traction Control and check engine warning lights had remained illuminated. The contact indicated that while pressing the brake pedal to stop, the brake pedal extended to the floor causing the braking distance to become extended. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 55,000.

In my 2012 Jeep I had to replace the engine and catalytic converters. The engine number 3 cylinder failed due to excessive ware causing lower compression. After the engine (long block) was replaced, one of the cylinders was miss firing. This miss firing was traced to micro cracks in the plastic/composite intake manifold (original and not part of the engine replacement). Because these micro cracks changed the fuel air ratio on specific cylinders by leaning out the cylinders near the cracks this lean mixture would cause the affected cylinders to run hot that would lead to both the excessive ware on the one cylinder and would comprise the catalytic converters. Because this change in fuel air mixture was caused by the intake manifold and Jeep does not have any inspection requirements or methods for this item and even after the Jeep Dealer did a full diagnosis using their factory specified equipment the issue with the manifold was not found. My local AMMCO shop found the cracking in the manifold that was the route cause of the problem.

6 days after an oil change, the temp gauge while driving went from cool to hot in under a mile and the engine temp light came on. There was coolant all over the underside of the car it was near catastrophic. I had to have it towed to the dealership for repairs. The faulty part was the oil filter adapter it was cracked by over tightening of the oil filter.

Engine Stalls Randomly while Driving. Will crank over several times and over approx 10-15 min. of cranking(Say every 3-5min) vehicle will and will restart. No check engine lights and no warning. The loss of power can be dangerous since brake and steering assist require engine to be running. Vehicle will be fine for several days local commute and problem will recur without warning, usually on longer commute. Vehicle is unsafe and unpredictable.

The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal burning odor around the vehicle. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and other various speeds the burning odor was still present. The check engine warning light illuminated with the temperature gauge rising from normal to hot. An audible alarm was heard during the failure. The vehicle was driven to the residence and then towed to a dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the radiator needed to be replaced. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who determined that coolant was leaking into the cylinder head. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I have been issued a Jeep Care case manager, case # 82963828. There are no warnings, while driving makes a left-hand turn the car just stalls!

I had to push the vehicle to safety!

SPECIFICALLY, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE POWER STEERING AND BREAKS DEACTIVATE. THE OIL COOLER FAILING, LEAKING. I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THAT MY OIL COOLER IS LEAKING FROM A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND AND MY LOWER ENGINE FULL OF OIL. I GOT NO WARNING LIGHT. IF THERE HAD NOT BEEN A NOTICABLE PUDDLE I WOULD HAVE NEVER NOTICED IT. IF NOT MY MOTOR WOULD HAVE LOCKED UP AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND NO OIL IS ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM IN THE JEEP COMMUNITY. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED. IF IT WAS A HERE AND THERE INCIDENT, IT WOULD B DIFFERENT. BUT IT'S A VERY BIG PROBLEM. IN THE PHOTO LOOK TO THE LEFT OF THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. IT'S A PUDDLE OF OIL. THE PRICE OF OIL IS NOT CHEAP. CAR COMPLETELY DIES WHEN SITTING IDLE. I BELIEVE THE CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY AND I HAVE HEARD MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. MY 15 MONTH OLD SON WAS IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME TO BE SITTING AT A MAJOR STOPLIGHT AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIE. I WAS SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND SCARED FOR MY SON'S SAFETY. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL RIGHT NOW. JEEP LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD AND THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS. IVE HAD TO STOP AND PULL BATTERY POWER TERMINAL OFF MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESET IT. BEGINNING OF FEB., LOST POWER ON FREEWAY. WENT FROM 65 TO 40 MPH AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON. EXITED THE FWY AND DROVE TO DEALER WHERE I WAS TURNED AWAY DUE TO HIGH VOLUME. LEFT MY JEEP AT THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY WITH THIS ISSUE AND TO CORRECT CAMPAIGN #V51 RECALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T LIT ANYMORE AND DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SO I PICKED IT UP. COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, I FAILED THE SMOG CHECK I NEED TO REGISTER MY JEEP, AND AN ENGINE CODE SHOWED UP, P0394. I TOOK IT TO OTHER PLACES WHERE THE SAME CODE SHOWED UP AND WAS RECOMMENDED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER. GOING DOWNHILL, MY FATHER EXPERIENCED THE SAME WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP. BEGINNING OF MARCH, OMW TO THE DEALER ON THE FWY, I LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS CAME ON. I SHOWED THE DASHBOARD TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR, EXPLAINED THE CONTINUED PROBLEM AND THE CODE SHOWING UP. I LEFT MY JEEP THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THE CODE WAS CLEARED WHEN I PICKED IT UP. THE FOLLOWING DAY, AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE STALLED. I USED GRAVITY TO PARTLY MOVE BACK DOWN AS THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR DRIVING INTO THE LOT. I PUT IT ON "PARK" AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. NO ENGINE LIGHT THIS TIME. THIS MORNING I LOST POWER DRIVING TO THE FIRST STOP ON MY STREET (STOP ON MY SIDE ONLY). I HAD ALREADY ENTERED THE T-INTERSECTION BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO TURN LEFT. I PUT IT IN "PARK" THEN BACK TO "DRIVE" AND ACCELERATED NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND BECAUSE OF THE CORONA VIRUS, BUT I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IF A COMING VEHICLE (WHO HAS THE RIGHT-A-WAY), DECIDED NOT TO SLOW DOWN.

BEGAN LEAKING SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL UNDER JEEP AFTER USE. TOOK TO HAVE ISSUE INVESTIGATED. MECHANIC FOUND THE INTAKE GASKET ON REAR OF INTAKE CAUSING THE ISSUE. ESTIMATED COST TO FIX $600+ THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS JEEP, THUS JEEP HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER DRIVE TRAIN WARRENTY OR A RECALL AS THIS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE.

I LOVE MY JEEP, BUT FOR THE PAST YEAR WE HAVE HAD A LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP. TODAY I RECEIVED A LETTER INDICATING THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE MIGHT NEED REPROGRAMMING. INTERESTING ENOUGH THIS WENT BAD ON MY 2012 JEEP A YEAR AGO. SHORTLY THEREAFTER MY ENGINE FAILED. NOW THAT I SEE THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PCM NEEDING REPROGRAMMED IT MADE SENSE WHY A JEEP WITH BARELY 90,000 MILES WOULD HAVE AN ENGINE THAT FAILED, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT I WAS NEVER ROUGH WITH IT, AND ALWAYS GAVE IT APPROPRIATE OIL CHANGES. IT TOOK ME THE BETTER PART OF A YEAR TO PAY OFF THE COST OF THE NEW ENGINE, AND WHEN YOU'VE GOT A CAR THIS NEW, THERE REALLY ISN'T A GOOD OPTION BESIDES KNUCKLING DOWN AND PAYING FOR THE FIX. I WOULD LOVE TO LOVE MY JEEP AGAIN. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT WAS VERY COLD OUTSIDE, MY JEEP SAT OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT. WHILE DRIVING TO SCHOOL THE TEMP GAUGE PINGED. I LIMPED IT BACK TO A DEALERSHIP (NO JEEP DEALERS IN MY HOMETOWN) AND EVENTUALLY FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM. AFTER WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN INITIAL FIX, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD ACTUALLY FAILED AND I SUBSEQUENTLY HAD IT REPLACED AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP. I CAN PROVIDE PROOF OF THE REPLACEMENT IF NECESSARY.

FOR TROUBLESHOOTING, I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS MODEL YEAR WAS AFFECTED BY THE FAULTY CYLINDER HEAD SERVICE BULLETIN AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH, WOULD BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER AT NO CHARGE. A FEW DAYS LATER, WE GOT A RETURN CALL FROM JEEP SAYING THE FAULT WAS NOT THE CYLINDER HEAD, BUT IT WAS THE ENGINE ITSELF! A PISTON HAD MELTED IN NUMBER 6 CYLINDER AND THE ENGINE WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT! AS YOU CAN IMAGINE I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO FIND A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WITH ONLY 44000 MILES, WOULD NOW REQUIRE AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT COSTING ME $7000.00 DOLLARS! I REQUESTED NUMEROUS TIMES FOR JEEP TO TELL ME HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN, BUT THE REPLY WAS THEY DID NOT KNOW. THE ENGINE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED WITH THE BEST OIL AND COOLANT, AND NO OTHER CYLINDERS WERE AFFECTED. I HAVE HELD OFF WRITING THIS LETTER SINCE I WANTED TO GET OUR JEEP RETURNED TO ME BEFORE MORE MONEY WAS REMOVED FROM MY WALLET. IN SEPT 2017, WHILE DRIVING ON I-75, THE JEEP SHUDDERED AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE LIGHTS HAD TURNED OFF. THEY ENDED UP SWAPPING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS AND TWO IGNITION COILS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON A FEW DAYS LATER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CODES FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SYSTEM 1 AND 2. IN OCT 2017, THE VEHICLE JUMPED/SHUDDERED AND STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND LEAVE IT SIT FOR 10 MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL ANY CODES AND BASED OFF OF MY DESCRIPTION OF THE ISSUES, REPLACED THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY AND CLEARED THE CODES. THEY SAID IF THE ISSUE CAME BACK TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE ISSUE CAME BACK WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF LEAVING THE AUTOMOTIVE GARAGE, SO I CHANGED THE BATTERY IN NOVEMBER. AFTER THAT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHEN AWAY, BUT WOULD COME BACK ON SPORADICALLY. THE JEEP WAS STILL SHUDDERING/JUMPING AND WOULD THEN COMPLETELY STOP AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM NOTIFICATION, STILL. I JUST TOOK IT TO ANOTHER GARAGE (ARIL 2018), SINCE THE PREVIOUS TWO HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. AT THIS POINT I WAS STILL PULLING THROTTLE POSITION 1 AND 2 CODES. THIS GARAGE REPLACED THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY AND RAN A FUEL INJECTION SERVICE. WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF ME DRIVING AWAY FROM THAT GARAGE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED BY A SOFTER SHUDDER OF THE VEHICLE AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT. I TRIED TO PULL CODES WHEN I GOT HOME, BUT THERE WERE NONE--BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ARE STILL ON.

WHEN DRIVING MY JEEP IT HAS SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN. TODAY I WHEN FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE AND WAS TRYING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN. I HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND THEN START THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEFORE I COULD DRIVE AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD POSSIBLY KILL SOMEONE IF THIS HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE. IVE READ MANY REPORTS ON LINE OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE HEAT SHIELD BETWEEN THE MUFFLER AND GAS TANK HAS WORN OUT WHERE THE NUTS THAT SECURE IT TO GAS TANK CONTACT THE SHIELD. THE SHIELD HAS CLEARLY DETERIORATED DUE TO NORMAL DRIVING VIBRATION AS THERE ARE NO MOVING PARTS AND THE SHIELD IS NOT REINFORCED WHERE THE NUTS CONTACT IT. I'VE HAD TO ADD LARGE FENDER WASHERS TO COVER THE WORN THRU PORTION OF THE SHIELD BUT THIS WILL NOT BE A LONG TERM SOLUTION AS THE PLATE WILL SIMPLY WEAR OUT WHERE THE NEW WASHERS CONTACT IT.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND HILL ASSIST ALWAYS LIT. DEALER CONSTANTLY RESETTING AND I WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD NOT TO WORRY AS IT IS PROBABLY "BAD GASOLINE." NOW, NO ACCELERATION AND IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN ON AN INCLINE IE HIGHWAY ENTRANCE RAMP. PRESENTLY, ONE WEEK INTO DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIRS WITH PRESENT DIAGNOSIS BEING "PROBABLY" CAM SHAFT PHASERS. IMPORTANT TO NOTE ENGINE REPAIRS PREVIOUSLY DONE ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP ON BRAND NEW VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON WHILE IN WARRANTY BUT TOLD NOT TO WORRY. NOW, ALMOST COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD. JEEP WILL NOT ASSIST EVEN THOUGH ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND REPORTED TO DEALER (AND DOCUMENTED) WHILE IN WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS WERE TORQUED INCORRECTLY WHICH CAUSED A LOW OIL PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE IN TURN WENT INTO LIMP MODE TO TRY TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LOW OIL PRESSURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BE DESTROYED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER; THE CONTACT WAS NOT OFFERED ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

THE DAY AFTER PURCHASING A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER, ON 5/4/2017, WITH 49000 MILES, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, AN UNUSUAL TICKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO THE AUTO DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A FAULTY ENGINE HEAD AND VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PROBLEM HAS CONSISTENTLY HAPPENED FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERSHIP BUT THEY REFUSED TO GIVE US A DIAGNOSIS OR OFFER A WARRANTY RECALL STATING THE RECALL WOULDN'T APPLY AS THE CAR IS A SALVAGED VEHICLE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THIS EPISODE AND HAS NOT COME OFF EVER SINCE.

I SUSPECT THE SKID CONTROL. WHEN THAT IS TURNED OFF IT DOES NOT DO IT. JEEP NEEDS TO FIX THIS. CAR RECOVERS AFTER 2-3 SECONDS BUT IN MEANTIME THIS COULD EASILY CAUSE CAR BEHIND TO HIT YOU. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE, THE FIRST TIME I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AN HOUR THE ENGINE STALLED AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL MOVING, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD NOT START. WE PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM, ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER, TRYING TO GET IT IN A POSITION FOR THE WRECKER, MY WIFE TRIED TO START IT AND IT RESTARTED. WE DROVE IT HOME AND HAD A WRECKER COME GET IT BECAUSE WE WERE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT 20 MINUTES TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FELT LIKE IS WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT. I PICKED IT UP AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS AND DID THE EXACT SAME THING EXCEPT THIS TIME I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND FORTUNATELY I WAS IN THE INSIDE LANE AND PULLED OVER. TRIED TO RESTART IT AND AFTER WAITING 10 TO 15 MINUTES IT RESTARTED AGAIN. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS RIGHT NOW WITH THEM TRYING TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE BEING TOWED BY OUR RV ON A CITY STREET, A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD OF THE JEEP. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED 1 NOTCH TO ACCESSORY TO UNLOCK THE STEERING. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BECAUSE THE FIRE WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT. BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE FIRE DAMAGE, NO CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS DETERMINED.

VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND LOST ALL POWER. ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS LITTLE ABILITY TO STEER. AS SOON AS I PULLED OVER SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT FROM THE SIDES OF THE HOOD. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE NEAR THE FIREWALL. LUCKILY A POLICE OFFICER HAPPENED TO BE DRIVING BY. HE QUICKLY PUT OUT THE FIRE USING AN EXTINGUISHER FROM HIS PATROL CAR; HAD HE NOT BEEN THERE THE CAR WOULD HAVE QUICKLY BEEN CONSUMED. THIS HAPPENED A FEW DAYS AGO. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND I HAVE BECOME AWARE THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH WRANGLERS FOR MANY YEARS NOW. IT'S DISAPPOINTING THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT FIGURED OUT WHAT CAUSES THESE FIRES; HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THE LACK OF STEERING ABILITY COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN THE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OF NOT JUST ME BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL.

MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED WRONG... MY ENGINE BLOCK IS CASTING SAND INTO MY COOLANT SYSTEM WHICH THEN BLOWS OUT MY HEATER CORE AND RADIATOR. I HAVE SPENT 5 MONTHS UNDER WARRENTY TRYING TO FIX WITH ISSUE BUT THE JEEP DEALER AND CHRYSLER GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. I WAS TRYING TO GET THIS FIX UNDER WARRENTY BUT ALL THE RUN AROUND I GOT FROM THE DEALERS HAS CAUSED MY WARRANTY TO EXPIRE WITH NO FIX. I THINK I HAVE BOUGHT A LAMON OF A CAR I ONLY HAVE 14K MILES , MY ISSUE STARTED AT 7K MILES. NOW IT IS WINTER TIME AND IN DRIVING MY CAR WITH NO HEAT. I HAVE A NEW BORN BABY ON THE WAY WHO WILL GET SICK INSIDE MY CAR. JEEP DOES NOT WANT TO COVER THE COST OF MY REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE HEATER CORE AND RADIATOR ALSO A COMPLETE FLUSH OF THIS SAND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 40MPH WHEN THE CLUTCH INADVERTENTLY WENT OUT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE MIGHT BE A GREATER PROBLEM RELATED TO THE FLYWHEEL AND THE RELATED CLUTCH ASSEMBLY OF THESE FACTORY PARTS ON THIS VEHICLE. I ONLY USE THIS VEHICLE TO COMMUTE IN THE CITY AND MY DRIVING HABITS ARE MILD. I DO NOT USE THIS VEHICLE OFF-ROAD AND I LIVE IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA WHICH IS INCREDIBLY FLAT. I HAVE A 2012 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON, NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE. I BOUGHT IT NEW AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH IT FROM THE BEGINNING. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED ON THIS WEBSITE BY SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS BOTH CAME ON. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, ACCELERATION IS SIGNIFICANTLY COMPROMISED AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO SHIFT BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED SOME SENSORS AND TOLD ME IT WAS GOOD TO GO AND COME PICK IT UP. FIVE MINUTES AFTER I LEFT THE DEALER BOTH LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK, THEY REPLACED SOME OTHER PARTS AND TOLD ME IT WAS READY. PICKED IT UP AND WITHIN TEN MINUTES BOTH LIGHTS WERE BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER, I WAITED THIS TIME, THEY SAID THOSE CODES WERE GONE ALTHOUGH A NEW CODE WAS NOW SHOWING UP. TOLD ME I COULD DRIVE IT AND THEY WOULD ORDER ME ANOTHER COMPUTER. YESTERDAY, WHILE SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE MOVIE THEATER A BELL STARTED GOING OFF, THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, SWAY BAR LIGHT CAME ON, ALL OF THE GEAR POSITION LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE RAN UP TO ABOUT 6000 RPMS. I TURNED IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES IT RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. I MADE IT HOME AND A WRECKER PICKED IT UP AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM WAITING TO HEAR WHAT THEY THINK IT IS THIS TIME.

THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 30 TIMES SINCE THEN AND ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. ON OR ABOUT THE 10TH OF MARCH 2015 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER TURNED THE LIGHT OFF AND I MADE APT FOR A SEPARATE PROBLEM WHICH WAS A RECALL NOTICE. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK FOR THE RECALL. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK THE DEALER SAID THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AS OF THE 14TH OF MARCH. I ADVISED I UNDERSTAND THE DATE HOWEVER I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN AND YOU TURNED THE LIGHT OFF NOW YOU ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY 180.00 TO CHECK THE PROBLEM BECAUSE WARRANTY IS OVER. THE (RHD) VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL (SKID) LIGHT COME ON REGULARLY WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON DRY ROADS AND WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SLOW SPEED. WHEN DRIVING OVER 40 MPH, IT TAKES A WHILE TO GAIN SPEED AND IF YOU LET OFF GAS IT JERKS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING A STANDARD TRANSMISSION. I RECENTLY HAD THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPLACED COSTING MYSELF OVER $600 AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE MADE A STOP AT A STOP SIGN BEFORE AND THIS JEEP DIED AND STARTED RIGHT BACK. OCCASIONALLY THE GASCAP LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS FOR A COUPLE DAYS AND THEN GOES AWAY. I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM JEEP AROUND DECEMBER STATING RECALL N28 WOULD AFFECT MY JEEP BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING LINE WILL RUB THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID. I NOTICED ON DECEMBER 18TH THAT MY JEEP WAS IN FACT LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID SO I CALLED THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP TO ME, GWINNETT JEEP IN STONE MOUNTAIN GEORGIA, AND TOOK MY VEHICLE THERE ON DECEMBER 19TH. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER UNIT WAS LEAKING, WHICH I TOLD THEM WAS ODD SINCE THIS JEEP IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP LATER CALLED ME BACK AND TOLD ME A DIFFERENT STORY STATING A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE WAS LEAKING AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS A DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE THAN WAS LISTED IN RECALL N28. I DIDN'T BELIEVE THEIR STORY SINCE THEY INITIALLY TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER UNIT WAS FAULTY. THE BILL WAS 503 DOLLARS. I AM E-MAILING YOU BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS ONLY LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE OF RECALL N28 AND THE DEALERSHIP TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME. THIS IS A CLASSIC "DOUBLE DIP" WHERE THE DEALERSHIP COLLECTS MONEY FROM FROM CORPORATE FOR THE RECALL AND THEN COLLECTS MONEY FROM THE CUSTOMER. AFTER COMMUTE OF 35 - 40 MINUTES FROM WORK I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE AND CLOSED THE DOOR DOWN FOR THE NIGHT AS USUAL AND WENT INSIDE . I HAVE A 2012 WRANGLER SAHARA 4DR AND THIS PAST WEEK I HAD TO TOW MY JEEP INTO A DEALERSHIP IN TEXARKANA. I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND NOT TRYING TO GUN THE RPMS. I HAD TOTAL SHUTDOWN BUT WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP HOOKED IT UP AND TOLD ME THAT MY ASD 25 AMP FUSE HAD BLOWN BUT COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. MY JEEP RAN OKAY FOR MUCH OF THE DAY BUT BY NIGHT IT BLEW ANOTHER FUSE AS I ACCELERATED FROM A GREEN LIGHT AND INTO THE INTERSECTION. I REPLACED IT WITH ANOTHER 25 AMP FUSE BUT FEAR THAT IF I PUT A 30 AMP IN THAT IT WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR A BURN OUT BUT I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I GOT HOME. 2012 JEEP WRANGLER STARTED TO HAVE ENGINE TICK. TOOK TO 2 LOCAL GARAGES, AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON IT. ONE SAID IT WAS A CHRYSLER RESTRICTED WARRANTY WORK THE OTHER IT WAS WITHIN THE NORMAL SOUND OF THE ENGINE. IT DID NOT MAKE TICKING SOUND WHEN PURCHASED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD TO TAKE BACK TO PURCHASE GARAGE WHERE I HAD TO PUSH FOR IT TO GET FIXED. THAT WAS NOVEMBER. ENGINES IN SOME OF THE 2012 JEEPS HAD A VALVE CUT WRONG AND CHRYSLER WILL ONLY SEND OUT 1 VALVE PER ENGINE PER WEEK. MY MILEAGE HAS DROPPED AND THE TICKING IS WORSE. I EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MY 2012 JEEP SAHARA. AFTER ACCELERATING AND PASSING ANOTHER CAR WHILE DRIVING, I LIFTED OFF THE ACCELERATOR, BUT MY JEEP CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I TAPPED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE ACCELERATOR, THEN TAPPED THE BRAKE A COUPLE OF TIMES IN CASE THE SPEED CONTROL SOMEHOW ENGAGED. I THEN TRIED TO SEE IF I COULD LIFT THE ACCELERATOR FROM BELOW WITH MY FOOT, BUT IT WASN'T DEPRESSED. THE JEEP WAS CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE AND AT THIS POINT I WAS GOING WELL OVER 80 MPH. FINALLY I WAS LEFT WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO DEPRESS THE CLUTCH AND TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR. I QUICKLY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AS THE REVS WENT THROUGH THE ROOF. I COASTED ONTO A SIDE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART MY JEEP, BUT IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. I TURNED THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION AND REMOVED THE KEY, PUT THE KEY BACK IN AND TURNED THE IGNITION AT WHICH POINT IT TURNED OVER AND AFTER ABOUT 5 OR 6 SECS IT FINALLY RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. THEY CONFIRMED THE SAME RESULT AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD ORDER A NEW HEAD. THE LOCAL DEALER HERE IN SAVANNAH (HOOVER) TOLD ME IT WAS IN. TOOK IN THE JEEP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 2-3 DAYS. BIG LIE. AFTER 3 DAYS, I CALLED TO GET STATUS AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 2-3 WEEKS!!! THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME WITH SAME ISSUE AND ONLY ONE GUY FIXING THEM. NOTICED A VERY PROMINENT TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF ENGINE. OCCURS AT IDLE AND GETS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN INCREASING SPEED WHILE IN PARK. NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND JEEP SPENT THREE DAYS AT DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE ADVISOR WHO HAD 23 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TOLD ME WHEN HE HEARD IT THAT IT DEFINITELY WAS A LIFTER PROBLEM. SO I CALLED CHRYSLER CORP AND RECEIVED A CLAIM NUMBER. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE PENTASTAR ENGINES MADE A LOUD TICKING NOISE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THIS WAS A NORMAL VARIANT. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS IN THE DESIGN OF THE LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THEY ALL MADE THIS NOISE. AFTER MUCH TALKING BETWEEN CHRYSLER CORP AND THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD TO COME AND PICK UP MY JEEP, NOTHING WOULD BE DONE. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS A DODGE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PENTASTAR ENGINES ARE HAVING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE LEFT HEAD AND CAM PHASER ARE GOING OUT... TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT REPAIRS WERE ON HOLD. TOOK IT BACK TO THAT DEALER AND SERVICE EMPLOYEE DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM. TICKING HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND ENGINE POWER IS DECREASING. *TR

I HAD BOUGHT MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 2200 MILES ON IT. I TOOK MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT 3000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED AFTER THE OIL CHANGE I HEARD A TICKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I DROVE IT AROUND THINKING IT MIGHT GO AWAY UNTIL AFTER 1000 MILES IT DID NOT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP JUNE 15TH AT 9:00 IN THE MORNING AND SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC, MANAGER, AND MY SALESPERSON SAID, SINCE IT HAD ONLY BEEN A FEW WEEKS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY HAD 4 JEEPS IN THERE THEY HAD TO DO REPAIRS ON WITH THE NO.2 CYLINDER. HE TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY UNTIL IT THREW A CODE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ONLINE AT YOUTUBE AND FORUMS, AND MY CASE IS NOT THE ONLY CASE. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THESE NEW 2012 JEEPS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT ALL HAS TO DO WITH THIS PENTASTAR ENGINE THAT CHRYSLER HAS RELEASED FOR 2012. *JB

MY 2012 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA 2-DOOR WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXHIBITS THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: 1) VALVE TRAIN TICKING NOISE. THIS DEVELOPED AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP (BOUGHT NOVEMBER 2011) 2) SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD. IT DOES IMPROVE AS VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 5-10 MINUTES, AND BY THEN THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO OPERATE NORMAL. 3) I SOMETIMES FEEL A THUD OR VIBRATION COMING UP FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. IT ALMOST FEELS AS SOMETHING IS LOOSE IN THE FRONT-END. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. THIS STARTED HAPPENING JUST RECENTLY. I AM GOING TO DISCUSS THESE ISSUES WITH THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHEN I TAKE IT FOR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. *TR

GOT ONE MILE TOWARDS HOME AND CEL ILLUMINATED AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD TO RETURN 5/14/12. RETURNED 5/14/12. ON 5/15/12 DEALERSHIP INDICATED CRACKED/BROKEN SPARK PLUG (#2) CODE. PLUG REPLACED. CODE RESET. GOT FOUR MILES TOWARDS HOME AND CEL ILLUMINATED AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. AWAITING RESOLUTION.

ENGINE DEVELOPED A TICKING SOUND ON DRIVER'S SIDE ENGINE BAY. SOUNDS LIKE ENGINE IS MISSING OR TAPPING ON DRIVER'S SIDE. LOSS OF POWER/STALLS MORE COMMON NOW. TOOK VEHICLE TO CHRYSLER AND THEY SAY THAT MY ENGINE IS JUST "LOUD" COMPARED TO ALL OTHER 2012'S AND THAT IT'S NORMAL. THEY TOLD ME TO JUST DRIVE IT UNTIL IT FAILS AND THEN BRING IT BACK IN BECAUSE CHRYSLER CORPORATE WILL NOT ALLOW A DEALERSHIP TO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND FIX IT UNTIL A FAILURE OCCURS. SO, NOW I AM STUCK WITH A 3 MONTH OLD 2012 WRANGLER WAITING FOR IT TO BREAKDOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP WILL FIX THE KNOWN ISSUE. MECHANIC SAYS "THAT DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT" WHEN I TOOK IT IN. MIND YOU I TOOK THE WRANGLER INTO TWO DEALERSHIPS AT THIS POINT FOR MULTIPLE OPINIONS. BOTH AGREE THE JEEP WILL FAIL AND TO JUST "WAIT" UNTIL IT DOES BECAUSE THEY ARE TOLD BY CHRYSLER TO NOT WORK ON FAULTY WRANGLERS WITH THE NEW PENTASTAR ENGINE UNTIL THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILS. REAL PROACTIVE ON THAT DECISION CHRYSLER. I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DAY POWER IS LOST WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY OR CROSSING TRAIN TRACKS. THANKS A LOT FOR PUTTING MY LIFE AT RISK OVER A KNOWN ISSUE YET NOT ACTING ON THE KNOWN FIX. BOTH DEALERSHIPS CLAIM THEY KNOW HEADS ARE BEING REPLACED WHEN THIS SYMPTOM IS FOUND ON 2012 WRANGLERS.
