Loud rattle noise on start up and ticking sound when running. Also using a little antifreeze. There is no antifreeze leaks.

This vehicle is notorious for a common issue yet that same issue which has not been recalled is the reason my engine blew on the highway and Jeep has failed to notify owners of this issue or give some sort of reimbursement. My Jeep was cruising just fine when my engine suddenly blew, it was well maintained and taken care of. Despite the great care the oil housing unit which many others have complained about cracked leaking all the oil in a matter of minutes. This essential piece failing and releasing all the oil caused my engine to blow. Jeep is notorious for having a plastic oil housing unit with no heat shield since it is inbetween both engine bays. Having the unit where it is while creating the piece out of plastic seems like a text-book way to have catastrophic failure and further profit off complete engine failure. This material design flaw has now cost me nearly $800 come to find out I need a total engine replacement now which will be around $4000. This is completely unacceptable a vehicle was allowed to be put on the road with such a catastrophic design flaw and physically endangered me when this happened. The components in the N28 / NHTSA 13V-234 recall did exactly what they were recalled for. My check engine light came on a few months back so I brought it to be diagnosed at a parts store and diagnostic scanner listed P codes for possible O2 sensor. I brought my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport into a Jeep dealership(#1) in Friday, November 1st, 2024 and upon the first inspection, they found a couple of issues and printed an quote for $127.33, I signed off on that quote. Then another hour or 2 passed by, they brought me a revised quote for over $600, which I was still okay with and signed off to have repaired. Then they offered to bring me home after hours of sitting in the lobby. The next day, I get a link to review the revised inspection and it was over $2400. The engine charge was over $1900 caused by the N28 recall. I asked them to just do the recall because I could not afford it the remaining. Upon looking into forums, documents & diagrams researching online specific to the N28 recall, I reached out to the manufacturer quite a few times by phone and email. I was working with someone who I thought would be helpful, since he suggested I call a different Jeep Dealership (#2) Service Dept. and speak with a mechanic there. I spoke with a mechanic at #2 and sent #1's inspection report, and #2 dealership's mechanic confirmed the issues are connected & caused by the recall. The manufacture's contact (that I thought was more helpful than the ones I spoke with prior) was emailing me. I reported back to the contact on November 14th, 2024 what dealership #2 said and he never responded. I followed up for a response on November 21st, 2024. I still have no response as of January 30th, 2025.

fuel supply line going to the engine leaking gas directly onto engine. I started smelling gas and upon inspection found the leak. I googled it and found numerous links with people having the same issue. Definitely poses a safety hazard.

The Fuel Supply Tube part #68141849AD cracked, causing fuel to leak into the engine bay when the car was started. The entire cabin filled with gas fumes so intensely my eyes would water.

The car just shuts off without warning while driving. We’ve had this car for 6 months and had to put in the shop 4 times on different occasions without a resolution. This causes a major safety risk which could lead to a catastrophic accident. This has not been inspected by the manufacturer as of yet.

At around 85k miles the vehicle began developing a loud tick. It appears every vehicle with this motor or similar motor with the same internal Valve Rocker Arms have this problem. This Jeep problem is so bad that the parts are on a 2 month back order and every dealer admits they have a problem. The repair isn't cheap and entails the entire top of the motor to be exposed and virtually rebuilt. For a vehicle with only 85k miles this is a terrible situation that jeep has put their owners in. This is clearly an issue that should be rectified by the manufacturer.

The oil cooling housing. There was sludge around it and the lines from below the jeep ruptured. causing oil to leak all over the transmission bell. This caused smoking and over all engine. My dad a certified ASE mechanic has looked at it multiple times and fixed various components related to the cooling/heating system.

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a DTC reader and recovered a code for a misfire in cylinder #6. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that her vehicle was not under warranty. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was also provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 89,800. The contact has made several calls to customer service submitting claims and denied. The vin number was not included in the service bulletin and the contact believes several vins are missing from the list.

ABS and check engine light. I am a rural mail carrier, because my ABS light is on it causes my jeep to not accelerate pulling away from mailboxes therefore putting myself and other drivers at risk. The problem has been reproduced at the dealer. Warning lights illuminated at 19687 miles and are still on to this day, no resolution from Jeep. Jeep engineer came to dealership and could not say what was wrong with vehicle.

My vehicle suddenly stops running as I'm driving down the road. This is an reoccurring problem that happens every few days. This does not issue a code nor does the check engine light come on. There is no rhyme or reason to the issue. Electrical does not go out only the ability to push the gas pedal. I have to pull over and turn off the jeep. It comes back on and runs after waiting 10 minutes. This is a hazard and can cause a wreck. It's an common problem with Jeeps as reported on the forums.

For the past 2 years my Jeep has been stalling a lot, have taken it to 2 mechanics and 2 times to the dealer. None of them know what’s going on because there’s no light coming on, except for the first time it happened the ETC light came on but went away a few minutes later.

When driving down the road, the Jeep stops running. This is very dangerous and happens while driving at 55 mph. I’ve taken it to a mechanic and it will not throw a code. We’ve replaced the fuel pump, ignition, battery and alternator. Reading the forums and other online resources shows this is a common problem with multiple solutions. Jeep should recall any parts identified with this issue and be able to help correct this known issue. This is very unsafe. I do not have the money to spend and have no reliable transportation for employment. This has been such a hardship during such trying economic times.

The oil filter housing assembly was found to be cracked during a routine oil change. The oil could leak into the transmission and eventually catch fire. A mechanic has confirmed this is the issue. It will cost approximately $800 to repair. The mechanic indicated he has seen this in the majority of Jeep Wranglers he has serviced and he doesn't understand why a recall has not been issued on this part. This part is made of plastic and can easily crack.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact about TSB: 09002-14. The contact was referred to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the #6-cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000. Consumer stated he had to pay to have the work done even though there is a service bulletin put out by Jeep referring to this problem specifically.

I just left my house and drove 2 miles at 25mph. My brakes went out then my vehicle caught fire with me and my two children inside. It is being inspected by insurance but there were no warning signs besides my brakes going out.

I WAS LEAVING A GROCERY STORE AND AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE BUSY MAIN ROAD MY JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED STALLED WITH NO WARNING NO LIGHTS IT JUST DIED IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. AFTER 20 MINUTES IT THEN STARTED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE PERSON BEHIND ME COULD HAVE HIT ME IF THERE WASN'T ANY OTHER TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS WHERE IT WOULD STALL OUT OF NO WHERE BUT THEN I COULD TURN THE KEY AND IT WOULD START. I AM TERRIFIED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY AFRAID IT WILL DO THAT AGAIN AND HARM ME OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD.

BROUGHT 2013 WRANGLER TO DEALER FOR CONSTANT P0304 CODE AFTER REPLACING IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUGS. DEALER DID A COMPRESSION LEAK TEST TO VERIFY THAT THE 4TH CYLINDER HEAD WAS BAD AND NEED REPLACING AND WILL COST $3700.00 FOR THE REPAIR. I HAD ASKED ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN 09-002-14 AND MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE X56 CODE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CYLINDER HEAD. I CALLED CHRYSLER/JEEP AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE DMV.

I WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AT 60MPH DASH LIGHTS AND RADIO WENT OFF, THE ENGINE WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS THEN EVERYTHING CAME BACK TO NORMAL. THIS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. EACH OCCURANCE WAS THE SAME. RAN FINE AFTER THAT FOR 30 MINS. HAS NOT REOCCURED. TOTAL SHUT DOWN IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE HEARD REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO MANY JEEPS.

ENGINE OIL COOLER HAS FAILED 2 TIMES ONCE AT AROUND 70K MILES AND AGAIN AT 90K MILES. OIL LEAKS ON TOP OF ENGINE BLOCK AND RUNS DOWN THE BACK TO THE TRANSMISSION ON TO THE EXHAUST AND COULD EASILY CAUSE A FIRE. FIAT DOES NOT CARE WHEN I REPORTED IT AND IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE IN MULTIPLE VEHICLES. DEALER WANTED $3,000 TO REPLACE IT WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS 12 DOLLAR O RINGS ON THE ADAPTER. THE PLASTIC HOUSING THAT SITS ON TOP OF A HOT ENGINE FLEXES AND ALLOWS THE O RINGS TO LEAK. THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO REPLACE THAT PART WITH SOMETHING SAFER BUT THEY WONT CAUSE IT WOULD COST THEM TO MUCH MONEY AND GOOD LUCK PROVING WHAT HAPPENED TO START THE FIRE WHEN THE PLASTIC HOUSING JUST BURNS AWAY IN A FIRE OR YOUR ENGINE BLOWS TO LOW OIL.

MECHANIC ADVISED THAT IT IS FAULTY ROCKERS AND THAT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. HE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL PENSTAR 3.6L IN ALL CHRYSLER PRODUCTS.

MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER STARTED HAVING A CODE THAT READ "MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 6" AT ABOUT 55,000 MILES. AFTER CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BANK OF CYLINDERS (2,4,AND 6) THE TROUBLE CODE STILL CONTINUED TO POP UP ABOUT EVERY WEEK OR TWO. I THEN TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL JEEP, CHRYSLER, RAM DEALER TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THE CYLINDER HEADS ON THE PENTASTAR ENGINE IN THE 2012 AND 2013 JEEP WRANGLERS WERE HAVE MANY, MANY ISSUES WITH THE BAD CYLINDER HEADS BECAUSE OF THERE WAS TWO DIFFERENT METALS USED BETWEEN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THE CYLINDER HEAD CAUSING IT TO WARP AND CAUSE COMPRESSION ISSUES IN THE CYLINDER. JEEP WAS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO THIS DAY TO ISSUE A RECALL. AFTER THE DEALER TOOK THE ENGINE APART TO INVESTIGATE, HE ADMITTED TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS A BAD CYLINDER HEAD. THIS MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 6 OCCURRED MOSTLY WHEN IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. THE KICKER IN ALL OF THIS EVEN THOUGH JEEP ADMITTED A FAULTY CYLINDER HEAD WAS THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF COMPRESSION, THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD AT THEIR COST. BECAUSE JEEP DID NOT HAVE MY VIN NUMBER IN THEIR LIST TO BE REPAIRED, IT WAS UP TO ME TO PICK UP THE COST. I DID NOTHING IN THE TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE (ORIGINAL OWNER) TO MAKE A CYLINDER HEAD BECOME WARPED. THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PENTASTAR ENGINE FROM THE BEGINNING. TOO BAD JEEP DOESN'T DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPAIR THESE PENTASTAR ENGINE ISSUES AT THEIR EXPENSE RATHER THAN HEAPING MORE RESPONSIBILITY ON THE CONSUMER. *TR

MY JEEP SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROADS AND GOING UP HILLS WITH OTHER VEHICLES PRESENT, NO CODES SHOW UP, DASH LIGHTS TURN RED WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF, MY JEEP MAKES FUNNY NOISES WHEN TURNED OFF, TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER 3 MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT IT 3 MONTHS AGO AND THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THEY'VE TIRED EVERYTHING AND STILL NOTHING. IT'S GOING BACK IN AGAIN BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF ON ME GOING UP A HILL. THIS JEEP IS NOW BECOMING DANGEROUS TO MYSELF. YET THE JEEP STILL ISN'T GIVING CODES. I HAD TO GO BUY A CAR SCAN DEVICE PLUG IT IN AND RECORD DATA OF WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE JEEP SO THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN SEE. DO I HAVE TO GO OFF A CLIFF OR GET INTO A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS FOUND OR FIXED. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 MONTHS. I BOUGHT IT ON FEBRUARY 21,2020 AND IT STARTED ACTING UP ON FEBRUARY 28,2020 AND STILL IS ON MAY 16, 2020 AND IT IS BECOMING A NIGHTMARE. I'M SPENDING MONEY TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING ME BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER IT. I WAS TOLD WHEN I BOUGHT IT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT THAT WAS A LIE. I NEED HELP FIGURE THIS OUT. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T MAKE SURE THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS SAFELY OPERATIONAL BEFORE SELLING IT. IT OVER HEATED BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T CHECK FLUID. MY HEATED SEATS WERE BURNT OUT. MY DASH LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF. THEY REPLACED SOMETHING BEHIND MY DASH BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I THINK IT MADE IT WORSE. AS OF RIGHT NOW MY JEEP SHUTS UP AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK WHICH PUTS ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION BECAUSE I GET STUCK EITHER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SITTING SIDEWAYS OR ALMOST OFF OF A CLIFF OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH NOWHERE TO GO BECAUSE I HAVE NO POWER STEERING THE JEEP DOES IT START BACK UP FOR ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5 TO 15 MINUTES.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SIMILAR VEHICLES WERE INCLUDED IN A MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS NUMBER: 10139897 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WARRANTY HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. FIVE STAR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MACON LOCATED AT (3068 RIVERSIDE DR, MACON, GA 31210, (478)345-8899) CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 65K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES. TICKING NOISE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. TURNED OUT THE LIFTERS AND CAM SHAFT HAD FAILED. REPLACED BY DEALER AT A TOTAL COST OF JUST OVER $2400. BASED ON NUMEROUS JEEP FORUM VISITS AND RESEARCH, THIS IS A PART DEFECT IN THE CAM LIFTER AND IS EPIDEMIC. FCA IS REQUIRING OWNERS TO PAY FOR THEIR POOR QUALITY PARTS BEING INSTALLED IN THEIR 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINES. HAVE FCA ISSUE A RECALL AND REIMBURSE THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN CHARGED TO REPLACE THEIR FAULTY PARTS.

I WENT TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND THE TECHNICIAN FOUND TSB 09-009-18 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE HAD BROKEN AND ALL OF THE PIECES WERE MISSING BUT TWO SMALL PLASTIC PARTS. THEY SHOWED ME THE TSB AND I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE JEEP UNTIL THE OIL FILER ADAPTER WAS REPLACED OR THE PLASTIC PARTS COULD POSSIBLY MIGRATE AND BLOW UP MY ENGINE.

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING/COOLING ASSEMBLY IS PLASTIC, CHEAP, AND LOCATED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. MINE, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER JEEPS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE THEM FAIL WELL UNDER 30,000 MILES. THIS CAUSES MASSIVE ENGINE OIL LOSS WHICH IN TURN CAUSES ENGINE DAMAGE. THIS IS A HUGE RIP OFF CONSIDERING THE PART COSTS ~$500. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY ON ALL JEEPS.

SAID THEY ARE DOING SEVERAL OF THE PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES A MONTH. THIS IS A ENGINE THAT IS USED IN MINI VANS, CHARGERS, CHALLENGERS, 200'S AND 300'S, MAYBE OTHERS. HAPPENING IN ALL OF THESE VEHICLES. CONSTANT TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THIS TICKING NOISE IS MADE FROM WORN OUT ROCKER ARMS/ CAM LIFTERS AS THE CAMSHAFT ROTATES. THE BEARING MATERIAL IN THE LIFTERS IS NOT HARDENED STEEL AND CAN DEGRADE. ALL 3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINES ARE AFFECTED BY THESE DEFECTIVE ROCKER ARMS. IF THE ROCKER ARMS ARE DAMAGED NO CODE WILL SHOW. THE FIRST SINES WILL BE A LOSS IN FUEL EFFICACY. AS THE CAMSHAFT WEARS DOWN CHANGING THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE CYLINDERS THIS WILL START CAUSING MISFIRE AND STALLING DURING NORMAL DRIVING/ ACCELERATION. EVENTUALLY, WARE DEBRIS CAN FALL INTO THE CYLINDER AND DAMAGE THE HEAD. I FIRST TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 60K MILES TO DIAGNOSE. WITH NO CODES SHOWING I WAS TOLD EVERYTHING IN THE ENGINE CHECKED OUT AND THE TICKING NOISE WAS FROM THE VALVES. NOW AT 84K MILES ONE OF THE ROCKER ARMS IS DEFINITELY FAILING AND STILL NOT SHOWING CODES. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PURCHASE DATE WAS 5 1/2 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 3.6L PENTASTAR. CHRYSLER HAS PROVIDED TECHNICAL BULLETINS TO VISUALLY IDENTIFY DEFECTIVE ROCKERS BUT ARE NOT PROVIDING EXTENDED WARRANTY OR RECALL ON THIS PART. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP THE TECHNICIAN SAID THEY HANDLE A LOT OF ROCKER ARM REPLACEMENTS ON PENTASTAR ENGINES, 5 TO 10 A WEEK! CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SOURCING AND INSTALLING DEFECTIVE PARTS IN THEIR ENGINES.

LUCKILY, I AND THE FEW OTHERS ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME SURVIVED. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE FIFTH TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I STARTED RESEARCHING MYSELF. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND IT APPEARS TO BE AN EPIDEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE 12-14 JEEPS WITH THE NEW PENTASTAR ENGINES. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT NO FCA/JEEP DEALERSHIP IN THE COUNTRY HAS FIGURED IT OUT. IF THOSE WERE THE FIRST WITH THE NEW MOTOR, IT STANDS TO REASON IF IT DOESN'T APPEAR THERE IS A FIX, THAT IT WILL CONTINUE. AND I CAN TELL YOU FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE FROM THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING TO GET POWER, OR WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL. THE THROTTLE IS LOST COMPLETELY AND THE POWER STEERING AS WELL. YOU CAN TRY TO CRANK THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WILL NOT START UNTIL AFTER ABOUT FIVE TO TEN MINUTES. IT WILL THEN START UP AND DRIVE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. NO CODES ARE SHOWN AND DEALERSHIPS HAVE NO WAY TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE IT. THAT WOULD BE THE BEGINNING ANYWAY. SOME SERIOUS EFFORT NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO THIS, AGAIN, IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE BEING ADDRESSED, AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE AS THE JEEPS FROM 2012 ON GET OLDER AND GET TO THE 60K RANGE.

THE FIRST TIME, THE DEALER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. THE SECOND TIME, THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN MODULE. IN FACT, THE DAY I GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALER, IT STALLED AGAIN GOING ABOUT 25 MPH. THEN, THE DEALER CALIBRATED THE THROTTLE. I WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, CALL THEM AND THEY WILL HAVE IT TOWED. THIS IS WHAT I DID. I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE ON ONLINE JEEP FORUMS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE OCCUR. THE DEALERSHIP JUST HAD ME GO AND PICK UP MY VEHICLE EXACTLY AS IT WAS WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. SOMEONE HELPED ME TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. ALL THE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO WORK. AFTER 20 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY. THEY TESTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO CODES OR ERRORS THAT POPPED UP. THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO RECOMMEND. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE FIXED THAT MANY FINES AND CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. THESE JEEPS SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE BEING MADE FOR POSTAL VEHICLES. EVERY CARRIER OR PERSON I KNOW WITH ONE HAS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. WHEN THOSE LIGHTS COME ON THE JEEP LITERALLY LOSES ALL POWER, IT STILL RUNS BUT TICKS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP. THE VEHICLE DOES IT WHILE SITTING AND DRIVING. IT'S GOT A CONSTANT TICK TOO. IT'S BEEN TO SURROUNDING DEALERSHIPS AND I GET TOLD THE SAME THING. I PAY 500 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A PIECE OF CRAP. REVIEWING THIS ON THE INTERNET AND SEES TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE PENSTAR ENGINE WHICH CHANGED FROM BOTTOM MOUNT TO TOP MOUNT OIL FILTER. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE REPLACEMENT COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT THIS LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS USER ERROR AND REFUSES TO COVER. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED, ONCE IT SHUTS OFF, IT WON'T START BACK UP RIGHT AWAY, USUALLY YOU HAVE TO LET IT SIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES. IF YOU TRY TO START IT BEFORE IT WILL SOUND LIKE IT IS TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT. THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, HE HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND IT CAME BACK WITH NO OPEN CODES. AT THE POINT I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT RETURN CALL. HATE TO JUST REPLACE ITEMS IF IT IS NOT GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ALL 3 TIMES THIS HAD HAPPENED ON LOCAL ROAD WAYS, ON SUNNY CLEAR DAYS, AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ALL THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, SMOKE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND FLAMES APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE TENDENCY TO STALL AT STOP LIGHTS. WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION WAS THE FIRST TIME IT DID IT AND I HAD MY 5 YEARS OLD SON IN THE CAR. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE FURTHER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE (STALLING IN REVERSE, AND WHILE IDLING). THE VEHICLE STARTS RIGHT AWAY, BUT OCCASIONALLY POWER ISN'T AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY (2-3 SECONDS DELAY). JEEP WASN'T AWARE OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WHEN I CALLED... THIS IS A VALVE THAT CONTROLS THE OIL IF THE FILTER GETS GUMMED UP THE PRESSER CAUSES THIS VALVE TO OPEN SO THAT THE OIL WILL STILL FLOW IF THE FILTER IS CLOGGED. CAR STALLED OUT WITH NO WARNING. WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO SIDE OF ROAD, WAITED 5 MINS AND IT STARTED BACK UP. AFTER IT HAD STALLED OUT AND WAS ON SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT SHOWED THE LIGHTNING BOLT IN THE VENTURI SYMBOL. I ESCAPED DEATH AND INJURY AGAIN. I HAVE DECIDED TO GET AN INSURANCE DEATH POLICY ON ME. I THINK MY LUCK IS GOING TO BE RUNNING OUT AFTER THIS BEING THE 6TH TIME STALLING AND 3RD TIME NOT STARTING. WHAT DO I DO NOW?????? I HAVE PUT A LOT OF MONEY IN THIS JEEP, WITH BUMPERS A LIFT KIT.... THE POLICE SHOWED UP AND HELPED ME PUSH IT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AT THAT POINT I TRIED TO START IT, APPROXIMATELY 10MINS AFTER STALLING AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I WENT STRAIGHT TO AUTOZONE AND HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED, $250.00 AND GOT GOING ON MY WAY HOME - FAT, DUMB AND HAPPY - UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER WHEN IT DID IT AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME IT STALLED I WAS ON A BUSY 12 LANE INTERSTATE 95 IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI. AGAIN I DID NOT KNOW IT HAD STALLED, I WAS INCREASING SPEED FROM ABOUT 50MPH TO 60MPH AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF 6 LANES AND IMMEDIATELY PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND ROLLED THROUGH TRAFFIC ONTO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I WAITED 5 MINS AND I WAS ABLET TO START IT BACK UP, REPLACED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE BATTERY. 3 DAYS LATER WAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI AND IT COMPLETELY STALLED AGAIN. IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY 6 LANE HIGHWAY, I WAS VERY LUCKY TO GET THROUGH THE TRAFFIC AND ROLL INTO THE MEDIAN. I WAITED 5 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN. DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP THAT SAID IT WILL TAKE WEEKS TO FIX. ALSO HAVE ISSUE WITH LURCHING TRANSMISSION AT BETWEEN 1500 TO 1600 RPM. IT CLUNKS INTO THE NEXT GEAR. ALSO, GETTING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH CIGARRETE LIGHTER. WHEN USING A CHARGER IN CIGARRETE LIGHTER THE RADIO DOES NOT WORK, IT BECOMES JUST STATIC.

I FIRST BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON 1/13/2015, AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED ON 1/9/2015 WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, AND 1/13/2015 WHEN ACCELERATING TO 50 MPH. MY VEHICLE WAS CLEARED TO PICK UP ON 1/24/2015 FOLLOWING SERVICE THAT INCLUDED COMPUTER UPDATES, PHYSICAL INSPECTION, AND ROAD TESTING. MY VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN ON 2/5/2015 WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ENTRANCE RAMP. IN ALL THREE CASES, THE VEHICLE STARTED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER TO SEND A TECHNICIAN TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE. THEY NEVER DID. I DO NOT FEEL THE TRUCK IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE A FAMILY AND WILL NOT PUT THEM AT RISK BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER ARE BEING NEGLIGENT. THE HILL START ASSIST MALFUNCTIONS CONSTANTLY, THIS CAN STALL THE ENGINE WHEN STARTING OUT IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE EXCESSIVE WARE ON THE BRAKES AND CLUTCH. THERE ARE 2 SWITCHES THAT TELL THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS PRESSED. ONE WHEN YOU FIRST START TO PRESS IN THE CLUTCH AND ANOTHER THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH IS PRESSED IN ALL THE WAY. THE HILL START ASSIST IS PROGRAMMED TO USE THE SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU FIRST START TO PRESS IN THE CLUTCH INSTEAD OF THE SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS FULLY PRESSED. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKES TO STAY LOCKED UP EVEN AFTER THE CLUTCH IS FULLY ENGAGED WHEN STARTING ON A HILL. THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED TO RELEASE THE BRAKES AS SOON AS YOU START TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH PETAL BEFORE THE CLUTCH FULLY ENGAGES. THE AFFECTED PARTS IN MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED IS THE TRANSMISSION (MILEAGE 27,200). THIS EVENT HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE FIRST TIME IT WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2014. I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR (I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW I AM GOING OR IF I AM ON FLAT AND HILLY ROADS. I WILL HAVE TO PUNCH THE GAS AND ACCELERATE TO 60-65 MPH BEFORE THE GEAR SHIFTS. IT SCARES ME ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM ONLY DRIVING 30-40 MPH. THIS PERTAINS TO NHTSA 13V-234. I WAS FIRST NOTIFIED OF THIS BY CHRYSLER IN AUGUST/2013. FINALLY IN NOVEMBER, I WAS ALLOWED TO BRING MY JEEP IN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THEY CONFIRMED PARTS MUST BE REPLACED AND THEY WERE ORDERED. NOW I AM INFORMED BY THE DEALER AND A PHONE CALL TO CHRYSLER, THAT THEY WILL ONLY ALLOW THEIR DEALERS TO OBTAIN REPLACEMENT PARTS ONCE EVERY 14 DAYS. I AM FURTHER INFORMED THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME ON THE DEALER'S LIST SO WITH ONLY BEING ABLE TO ORDER 2 REPLACEMENT PARTS PER MONTH, IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE MY JEEP IS REPAIRED. MY WIFE IS AFRAID OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THIS ISSUE LOOMING. CAN THIS SAFETY RECALL REALLY BE TREATED THIS WAY BY CHRYSLER? IS THERE SOMETHING NHTSA CAN DO? *TR

RE: SAFETY RECALL N28/NHTSA 13V-234 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE IN CONTACT WITH THE POWER STEERING FLUID TUBE WHICH MAY CAUSE A LOSS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RESULT IN A LOSS OF TRANSMISSION FUNCTION WHICH WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AGO. I CONTACTED THE DEALER (BILLY BENDER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE) WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD ME ON A WAITING LIST TO GET THE REQUIRED PARTS. IT HAS BEEN ONE MONTH WITHOUT NOTICE THAT THE SAFETY RECALL PARTS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ORDERED SO I CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN TO CHECK ON PARTS. DEALER ADVISED ME THAT I WAS CURRENTLY 9TH ON THE LIST TO RECEIVE THE SAFETY RECALL PARTS. HOWEVER, CHRYSLER JEEP WAS ONLY SENDING THE DEALER ONE (1) SET OF PARTS PER MONTH SO IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS BEFORE THEY WILL HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX MY VEHICLES' SAFETY RECALL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SAFETY RECALL TO GO 2 MONTHS WITHOUT REPAIR LET ALONE FOR CHRYSLER TO ONLY SUPPLY ONLY ONE PART PER MONTH TO DEALERS WHICH WILL ADD 9 ADDITIONAL MONTHS (SINCE I'M 9TH ON THE WAITING LIST) TO GET A SAFETY RECALL FIXED!!!! *TR

DROVE MY JEEP ABOUT 45 MIN.TO MY SON'S HOUSE TURNED OFF THE KEY GOT OUT OF THE JEEP AND LEFT IT FOR ABOUT 45 MIN. WHEN I CAME BACK TO IT, IT WAS STEAL RUNNING WITH THE KEYS IN MY POCKET. AND IT WAS COVERED WITH STEAM I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO CATCH FIRE WE TRIED TO TURN THE MOTOR OFF BY PUTTING THE KEY BACK IN BUT IT STEEL RAN FOR ABOUT 30 MORE MIN. BEFORE WE PULLED THE FUEL PUMP FUSE OUT. JEEP AND THE DEALER I GOT THE JEEP FROM HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND HAVE ALMOST CALLED ME A LIAR. I AM AFRAID OF THE JEEP AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE FIRE PROBLEMS JEEP HAS BEEN HAVING. BUY THE WAY THE FAN TO KEEP THE ENGINE COOL WAS NOT RUNNING ANY OF THIS TIME. I WAS REAR ENDED AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR ANOTHER ACCIDENT IN FRONT OF ME,WHEN MY JEEP GOT REAR ENDED THE MOTOR SPEEDED UP AS I WAS PUSHING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I COULD FEEL THE ABS WORKING .ONLY AFTER I HIT THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF GEAR DID MY JEEP STOP. MY ENGINE CONTINUE TO RUN AT A VERY HIGH RPM. ONLY AFTER I SHUT EVERYTHING OFF AND RESTARTED NEED THE ENGINE RUN NORMAL. *TR

BRAND NEW VEHICLE, AFTER 6,000 MILES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, TAKE IT IN, THEY HAVE IT FOR A MONTH, HAD TO REPLACE HEADS. GET IT BACK, NOW AT 50,000 MILES THE HEADS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THEY SAY DRIVE IT. IT WILL CUT OUT OF POWER AND RUN VERY ROUGH, BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME ITS OK. I TALKED TO A MECHANIC THAT WORKS THERE, AND HE SAID IT IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND THAT THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR THE HEADS AND CANT KEEP UP WITH ALL THE DEMAND. ALL 2013 JEEPS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, MOST JUST GO IN AND THEY FLASH THE CODE, AND SEND THEM ON THEIR WAY. I AM ON A JEEP FORUM, AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
