ABS MODULE FAILING IN 1000'S OF VECHILES AND JEEP HAS NO SOLUTION TO ANY CUSTOMERS. NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE WORLD WIDE. LEAVING PEOPLE STRANDED IN REMOTE PLACES UNABLE TO USE A EXPENSIVE VECHILE. ABS MODULE FAILS AND THEN YOUR VECHIL IS STUCK IN GEAR WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION, SPEEDO FAILS AND VECHILE SITTING ON BICKS FOR YEARS UNTIL SOME TIME A PART BECOMES AVAILABLE IN A SCRAPYARD.

Starting in March of 2024 the vehicle began to leak copious amounts of oil. This was noted once the vehicle was parked after driving. It was anywhere from the size of a half dollar to a dinner plate size of oil pooled underneath the oil filter housing on the ground. At this time the Jeep had approximately 103,000 miles. While diagnosing the issue, I had to consistently add many quarts of oil to keep the vehicle operating. During the diagnosis stage, there were many instances where a strong burning smell became obvious from the engine compartment. After consulting with two independent certified mechanics, it was determined that the oil filter housing had become compromised and was the source of the oil leak. The cost for repair was $175 for the part and $950 for labor, plus $200 for a rental. Both mechanics that diagnosed the issue advised they both had replaced this same part on many other Jeep Wrangler JK between the years of 2014-16. While the burning smell was indicative of a possible fire at some point, one mechanic did say one other jeep that had this part fail did catch on fire due to the oil running down through the heated engine as this part is made of plastic and situated on the top side of the engine. Fires were most certainly a life safety concern as this is my primary vehicle for myself and children. The vehicle had all of its maintenance current and properly done, there was no accident or incident to cause this part to crack other than a poor design with cheap parts. The oil clean up during the fix was extensive as it had pooled and ran into multiple locations on the engine. I did not have the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer as it was no longer under warranty and it would have cost even more to have them do the work. No warnings, not even a low oil pressure or check engine light came on. It was the burning smell and oil loss that was visibly noted that identified an issue.

Abs ,traction control, and brake lights stay on I took it to the dealer they told me it was internal failure on the abs module I can't afford 1200$ to fix it I'm in a jeep club this is a common problem it should be recalled and fixed for free it's a safety hazard. And you lose power you can't even pass another car when all the lights are illuminated.

When it first started, I would have to be going at minimum 55-60 mph. But it got so bad to the point that I would be going 15-20 mph and out of nowhere my vehicle would start violently shaking and my steering wheel would jerk side to side. The ONLY way to get it to stop would be to completely let off the pedals and let it come to a complete stop by itself. Hitting the brakes could cause it to flip. Having to come to a stop, regardless of the location could cause a serious accident or pile up. Trying to control the steering wheel when this is occurring could cause an accident as well. This is not something that happens here and there. This incident is so frequent that there are websites that try to warn and help others bc it happens so after. Its cost me $4000 trying to fix it. Please look into this and help us resolve this issue before it costs someone their dad or mom or brother or sister, or someone their child or grandchild. Thank you for your time. Oil filter Housing and Intake Manifold had to be replaced dues a coolant leak. "Common" issue on Jeep's they said. But Despite knowing about this issue, the company has never issued a recall, instead, they redesigned the oil filter housing.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the transmission. An unknown repair was completed. However, the failure reoccurred several months later. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where an unknown repair was completed; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving up a steep hill, the vehicle shut off, almost causing another heavy vehicle to crash into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where an unknown repair was completed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Parts R2123503AC & 68087998AA which are available for inspection failed while driving my vehicle a day after in was serviced by the dealer. I heard a loud bang emit from under vehicle. At which point all forward motion stopped & the vehicle would not move at all when the accelerator was pressed. The engine was running and all electrical components continued to function. It stopped in the road and was not able to make it to the shoulder without being pushed. Fortunately traffic was light and the vehicles behind me were able to stop before a collision. Had this happened on the highway or at an intersection the outcome could have been much worse. There were no warning lights prior to or after the failure. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer who requested 3 hours of shop time to disassemble the powertrain. At which point i was contacted and told i needed a new transfer case. When i went to look at the transfer case i saw that the transfer case adapter and external housing was rusted and the gears were worn away. (photos) . Upon taking the part to mechanics and another dealer I was informed such wear was not a result normal usage, wear and tear. I opened a case with FCA (82582111) to enquire as to how the failure occurred. The FCA nor the dealer provided any explanation as to how the failure occurred. For background , the vehicle was custom ordered from the factory, and purchased new in 2014. It a had 64990 miles at the time of the failure. I'm the original owner & only driver of the vehicle. The vehicle has never been off-roaded or driven through high water. The vehicle has not been modified other than a Mopar 2" lift kit installed by the dealer. All scheduled factory service , maintenance and inspections were performed by the dealer. The extent of the rusting and the wearing of the components would indicate that the issue had been occurring for some time. Yet it was not detectable without the vehicle being lifted and the transfer case removed.

The vehicle will unexpectedly not be able to shift gears up or down suddenly due to a switch sensor located in the transmission transfer case that malfunctions due to corrosion due to lack of protection on the wiring which is exposed to the elements. I noticed this happening a few times before I had a chance to take it into the dealer repair shop. When I was on my way home from work commuting through evening rush hour, I was driving at normal residential street speeds and as traffic sped up my car did not shift gears but rather kept revving higher. I was driving along with traffic and noticed as we were slowing down it didn't downshift either. I was able to pull over and inspected the vehicle but didn't notice any wrong. I had to drive home with my hazards and at a set speed as much as possible. It was not a safe situation nor would it be good for the engine had it got pushed harder.

The other day I was changing the fluids in my transfer case and I noticed that the cv bolts were broken and coming out my Jeep is not lifted nor is there larger tires on it. If these all snapped the possibility the drive shift my fall out. If you contact me immediately I won't proceed with fixing the drive shaft if not I'm replacing it tomorrow.

AT 63,000 MILES MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT 4X4 STARTED LEAKING OIL REALLY BAD. LOOKED UP PROBLEMS PEOPLE HAVE WITH OIL LEAKS VIA THE INTERNET. FOUND OUT THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN A THOUSANDS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS HAPPENING ALL OF A SUDDEN. TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IS LEAKING FROM A CRACKED "ENGINE OIL COOLER AND OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER". CALLED AROUND FOR THIS PART AND ALL DEALERS HAD A BACK ORDER ON THIS PART AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BE GETTING THEM IN. FINALLY LOCATED ONE FROM A DEALER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH A PERSON I KNEW PERSONALLY THAT WORKED FOR A DEALER. HE SAID THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 4,200 ORDERS FOR THIS PART IN JUST SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM! THIS CAN LEAD TO THE ENGINE CATCHING FIRE. ALSO A VERY EXPENSIVE COST FOR JUST THE PART AND THAN THEY STILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE PLENUM GASKETS NEEDING REPLACEMENT WHEN THIS PART IS REPLACED. THE LEAKING OF OIL HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER A WEEK OR SO.

FOLLOWING A MANDATORY PCM FLASH RECALL, I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY '14 JEEP WRANGLER'S AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT UPSHIFT UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION. INSTEAD, THE ENGINE REVS TO 4K, AND IT WILL STAY IN THE GEAR. ONLY IF I LET OFF THE GAS AND ALLOW IT TO RESET, THEN GRADUALLY ACCELERATE WILL IT WORK PROPERLY. THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE, HAVING REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, PCM, AND ECU, AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS AND SENSORS. I FULLY BELIEVE THIS IS COMPUTER SOFTWARE RELATED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A POTENTIAL ISSUE. OIL COOLER/OIL FILTER HOUSING AND GASKETS HAVE A KNOWN DEFECT THAT CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ONTO AND INTO ENGINE COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THE RADIATOR, CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE/RAM TECHS KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT, AND THE LEAKING OIL CAN AND DOES BURN, WHICH CAN LEAD TO A TOTAL ENGINE FIRE!!! I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN I SMELLED BURNING OIL. THINKING IT WAS JUST A MINOR ISSUE THAT COULD BE FIXED WHENEVER I HAD THE FREE TIME, I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR TWO UNTIL SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE! I FINALLY TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THERE WAS WAY TOO MUCH SMOKE TO BE SAFE (FIRE?). THE TECH THAT WORKED ON MY JEEP, MIKE POLLARD, SAYS HE SEES THIS ISSUE ALL THE TIME, ADVISED ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEN FILE FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND MY JEEP ONLY HAD 43,500 MILES ON IT (WELL UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY). WELL, I DID AS HE ASKED, BUT CORPORATE CUSTOMER CARE IS USELESS, WILL NOT REACH OUT TO THE TECH AS ASKED, AND ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO NOT PAY BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL. EITHER WAY, THIS ISSUE CAN START A FIRE IF LEFT UNFIXED. JEEP KNOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, YET WILL NOT DO A RECALL UNLESS FORCED (MONEY OVER SAFETY). APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS AGO, I HAD MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH MY JKU SHIFTING INCORRECTLY WHILE GOING UP & DOWN THE STREETS WHICH I LIVE ON IN KAILUA KONA, HAWAII. I LIVE ON A VOLCANO & THUS THE STREETS ARE AT A GREAT DEGREE, UP TO 25% GRADE. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ON ITS OWN WAS COMING UP A STREET WHERE I DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR....THE JEEP THEN SHIFTED INTO 1ST ON ITS OWN AND THEN UPSHIFTED TO 3RD, THEN DOWN TO 2ND & THEN TO 1ST, ALL ON ITS OWN. I THEN CAME TO A STOP SIGN & PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE FOR AUTOMATIC HOPING THAT IT WOULD STOP. FOR ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AFTER THAT, IT SEEMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE & THEN NOTHING. IT DROVE FINE. I NEVER TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM THAT ONE OR TWO INSTANCES. ON 8/5/19 I TOOK MY JEEP IN FOR A REGULAR OIL CHANGE. KONA KWIK LUBE LOOKED AT EVERYTHING & SAID THAT EVERYTHING ON THE JKU LOOKED GREAT. I THEN HAD TO LEAVE TOWN FOR A WEEK & UPON RETURN FROM THE MAINLAND, I HAD NUMEROUS DROPS (OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS OIL) ON THE FLOOR OF MY CARPORT. I TOOK MY JEEP TO REPAIR SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC & WAS TOLD THAT THEY SAW SIGNS OF OIL LEAK FROM THE OIL FILTER HOUSING, BUT WERE UNABLE TO PINPOINT LOCATION OF LEAK. AS I KNEW THE MANAGER OF KKL, I TOOK IT BACK THERE. THEY CLEANED UP THE AREA & STATED THAT IT WAS NOT OIL LEAK. UPON RETURNING HOME, I HAD NO LEAKS COMING FROM THE JEEP FOR 2 WEEKS.THEN THE LEAKS STARTED. I WENT BACK TO KKL ON 10/9/19 WHERE THEY PUT DYE IN THE ENGINE TO FIND THE LEAK. ON 10/14/19 THEY SAW NO DYE IN THE ENGINE, THEREBY NOTING THAT IT WAS TRANSMISSION. I WENT TO TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGY RIGHT AFTER, & I WAS ADVISED THAT I HAD A GERMAN TRANSMISSION & THE TRANSMISSION PUMP, SEALS, ETC. WERE ALL LEAKING & IT WOULD BE OVER $2,000 TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. I ONLY HAVE 37,933 MILES ON THIS 2014 JKU. AT 38,000 MILES, THIS TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE LEAKING. JEEP DECLINED COVER. *TR*JB

FOR 2014, CHRYSLER MADE A CHANGE TO A PART CALLED THE "OIL FILTER ADAPTER" WHICH SITS ON TOP OF THE ENGINE, UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THERE ARE NOW A PARADE OF PEOPLE WITH VARIOUS CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT USE THE 3.6L REPORTING THAT THE NEW PART CRACKS, CAUSING A MAJOR OIL LEAK, POTENTIALLY A FIRE, AND CAN CAUSE YOUR ENGINE TO BE DRAINED OF ALL OIL. PART NUMBER IS 68105583AA AND IT APPLIES ONLY TO 3.6L CHRYSLER V6 ENGINES. I PURCHASED THE JEEP USED AND NOW HAVE JUST OVER 60K MILES - CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO COVER UNDER THEIR "100K MILE" POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND I STILL HAVE ALMOST 40K MILES TO GO BEFORE I REACH 100K MILES.

JEEP HAS A KNOWN EPIC FAILURE IS DESIGN FLAW IN ITS 2014 WRANGLER WHEN IT SWITCHED FROM A METAL OIL FILTER COOLER HOUSING TO A PLASTIC OIL FILTER COOLER HOUSING. OIL FILTER/COOLER HOUSING LEAK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2014/15 PENSTAR ENGINES. HAPPENING AROUND 50,000 MILES OR 5/6 OIL CHANGE. LEAK CAUSES OIL TO POOL ON TOP OF ENGINE AND RUNNING DOWN ONTO THE EXHAUST AND TRANSMISSION PAN. CAN LEAK AS MUCH AS .5 QUARTS OF OIL IN A SHORT MATTER OF TIME. THIS IS A $600 FIX AT A DEALER. RESEARCH SHOWS IT IS VERY COMMON. SOMETHING THIS COMMON SHOULD NOT BE PUT ON THE OWNERS EXPENSE.

PRIOR TO THE CLUTCH SLIPPING THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED TWICE AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY TWICE, SUSPECTED LEAK CAUSED CLUTCH TO BE SATURATED. DEALER PLACE DYE IN OIL TO VERIFY LEAK IS FIXED. ALSO TRYING TO WORK WITH DEALER TO REPLACE CLUTCH AT REASONABLE PRICE SONCE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A WARRANTIED PART. WHILE TRANSMISSION WAS OUT ALSO FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK FROM THE INPUT SHAFT SEAL I HAVE ASKED DEALER TO FIX THIS ISSUE, BUT ONLY RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION SERVICE, NOTHING TO VERIFY THE LEAK AND VERIFY THE INPUT SHAFT IS NOT SCORNED OR DAMAGED. WILL TAKE TO ANOTHER DEALER AFTER BEING CHECKED FOR THE DYE, ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE. PHOTOS ATTACHED SHOW OIL AROUND CLUTCH, BELL HOUSING COATED WITH OIL AND THE INPUT SHAFT LEAK.

AFTER TAKING IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP, THEY DIAGNOSED IT TO BE A LEAK COMING FROM THE ACTUAL OIL COOLER HOUSING. COME TO FIND OUT MY VEHICLE HAS ALREADY PASSED ITS WARRANTY COVERAGE DATE. AND AFTER DOING A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH, IT SEEMS I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEP, NOT SPECIFICALLY JUST THE 2014 MODELS OTHERS AS WELL. OTHER THAN THE COMPLAINTS FROM INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE PURCHASED A JEEP, I HAVE YET TO FIND ANY COMMENT FROM MOPAR, CHRYSLER, OR THE JEEP MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF HAVING A PLASTIC OIL COOLER HOUSING. THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ON THE V6 3.6L PENSTAR FAILED, ALLOWING OIL TO LEAK DIRECTLY ONTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. SHORTLY AFTER MY LIGHT CAME BACK ON READING THE SAME CODE. ADDITIONALLY, I SMELLED BURNING OIL AND CAR WENT TO LIMP MODE WHEN AT 3000 RPMS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED OIL PUMP FINALLY. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING A LOT OF OIL. DEALERSHIP REPLACED OIL COOLER/HOUSING. DUE TO THE CONSTANT PROBLEMS AND MISDIAGNOSIS I CONSULTED SEVERAL OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY FREQUENTLY SEE MY VEHICLE TYPE TO REPLACE COOLER. APPARENTLY, IT IS DUE TO CHANGES MADE ON THE 3.6 ENGINES INCLUDING A PLASTIC PIECE THAT WAS FORMALLY METAL. THE DEALERSHIP I HAD DO THE REPAIRS, CLAIM THAT THE SWITCH WAS THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS COINCIDENTAL DESPITE ME HAVING THE CODE FOR OIL PUMP FROM DAY 1. AT APPROX 45000MI IT IS UNCOMMON FOR OIL SYSTEM FAILURES HOWEVER IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR AT SIMILAR MILAGES. SEARCH FORUMS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

PARKED VEHICLE ON A SLOPE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS IN PARK. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ALL PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE, IT SLOWLY STARTED ROLLING AWAY, BACKWARDS. IT TRAVELED DOWN A 4WD ROAD A SMALL DISTANCE BEFORE TURNING OFF AND TUMBLING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. LUCKILY EVERYONE HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THOUGH WE WERE PARKED ON A SLOPE, PROBABLY AROUND 15 DEGREES, THERE WAS COMPLETE FAILURE OF BOTH THE PARK GEAR AND THE PARKING BRAKE ALLOWING A ROLLAWAY. THE PARKING SURFACES WAS A COMBINATION SOLID ROCK AND DIRT.

WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY (ACCORDING TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP) MY OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED AND LEAKED MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE ENGINE'S OIL INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED IN 10 MINUTES AND EXTREMELY OVERHEATED THE ENGINE FROM THE TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFELY PARK. THE OIL MIXING WITH THE COOLANT CAUSED IT TO TURN INTO A THICK MUD-LIKE CONSISTENCY THAT CLOGGED UP THE COOLING SYSTEM AND AFTER LETTING IT COOL DOWN I OPENED THE RADIATOR THEN A THICK BROWN OILY/COOLANT MIXTURE SEEPED OUT OF THE RADIATOR. SO THE RADIATOR WAS HOLDING PRESSURE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OIL COOLER HOUSING UNDER WARRANTY ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR HOSES BUT IS NOW SAYING MY RADIATOR HAS A HOLE IN IT AND NOT HOLDING PRESSURE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY, DESPITE THE JEEP NOT HAVING ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES PRIOR TO A HOLE BLOWING OPEN IN THE ENGINE AND LEAKING OUT OIL. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TEST THE ENGINE ANY FURTHER EVEN THOUGH IT RAN FOR 10 MINUTES WITH LITTLE TO NO OIL IN IT WHICH MOST LIKELY CAUSED PRE-MATURE WEAR. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO PAY $800+ FOR A NEW RADIATOR. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 40 DAYS AGO FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND IT'S STILL COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THEY ARE TRYING TO GET MY JEEP OUT OF THEIR DEALERSHIP AS QUICKLY AS THEY CAN BY SPENDING THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME AND MONEY.

MINE STARTED LEAKING AT 20998 MILES. THE LEAK IS IDENTIFIED PRIMARILY BY A POOL OF OIL FORMING IN THE "V" AT THE BASE OF THE COOLER HOUSING, AND MOTOR OIL RUNNING DOWN OFF THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AND AROUND THE TRANSMISSION PAN (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE LEAK IS NOT A TRANSMISSION LEAK, IT IS AN OIL LEAK FROM THE MOTOR OIL COOLER HOUSING.

ONLY THING I COULD SEE THAT COULD CAUSE A LEAK WAS A MISSING GASKET ON BOTTON OF HOUSE.

THE CAR IS IN FOR REEVALUATION AND REPAIR AS I AM WRITING THIS MAKING IT THE THIRD TIME IN THREE WEEKS THE CAR IS BEING REPAIRED FOR THE SAME ISSUE (03/17/2017 [MASSEY YARDLEY]). THIS INVOLVES THE MOTOR OIL IN THE VEHICLE AND LEAKS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IDLE OR BEING DRIVEN. ONCE THE WRANGLER IS DRIVEN THE THE OIL HEATS UP, AND THINS OUT, CAUSING THE OIL TO LEAK IN LARGER AMOUNTS AND FASTER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE LEAKING OIL CAN START AN ENGINE FIRE OR TOO MUCH OIL LOST CAN CAUSE AN ENGINE TO BE DAMAGED OR EVEN SEIZE. JEEP CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE AND THEIR "CASE MANAGEMENT" TEAM HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN ATTEMPTING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, HOWEVER, TO-DATE ALL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS INDICATE THERE IS NO RECALL OR INVESTIGATION INTO THESE ISSUES. AS AN ASIDE, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER (PER CARFAX REPORT), FOR TRANSFER CASE RELATED ISSUES 11/18/2015. I IMPLORE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE.

EVERY TIME THEY CRACK, OUT OF THE BLUE, NO WARNING, THE DRIVER IS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH SIX QUARTS OF OIL ALL OVER THE MOTOR, TRANS, EXHAUST AND GROUND.

DID OIL AND FILTER CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I GOT ON THE FREEWAY AND LOOKED AT MY REAR WINDOW WHEN I SAW SMOKE. DID NOT THINK OF IT MUCH SINCE I FIGURED ITS THE OLD OIL BURNING. DROVE FOR A GOOD 2-3 MILES AND IT WAS GETTING WORSE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND A LOT OF SMOKE GOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. GOT OUT AND THE OIL WAS DRAINING OVER THE MUFFLER, TRANSMISSION COVER THAT WAS CAUSING THE SMOKE. I THOUGHT THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE SCREW BACK ON OR THE OIL FILTER LOOSE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THAT IT MIGHT OF BEEN THE OIL COOLER THAT WAS DRAINING OR GOT CRACKED, HE SAID THAT THIS IS PRETTY COMMON. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR RECALLS BUT DID NOT FIND ANY BUT I DID NOTICE A LOT OF JEEP FORUMS ONLINE THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YR. THIS COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD WITH ALL THAT OIL DRAINING ON THE MUFFLER AND THE ENGINE. BAD DESIGN OVERALL! I EVEN KNOW THAT, IT DOESN'T TAKE A GENIUS TO FIGURE THAT OUT, ITS COMMON SENSE. MAKING PARKS WITH PLASTIC PIPES? BY THE ENGINE AND IN A HOT AREA? IT MIGHT BE TO SAVE MONEY IN PARTS BUT I AM PAYING ON A $40000 JEEP. GOT THE PART 68105583AA REPLACED WITH 68105583AE. HOPEFULLY THIS GOT MOTIFIED.

ON 5/6/16 I WENT TO START MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON AND THE ENGINE DID NOT MAKE A NOISE BUT THE DASH LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. THE WINDOWS HAD POWER AND RADIO WORKED BUT THE DOOR LOCK OR ALARM DID NOT WORK. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND WAS CALLED THE "TIPM MODULE" WHICH IS BASICALLY THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX AND PART OF THE COMPUTER. I WAS STUCK THERE IN NORTH CAROLINA FROM MARYLAND FOR FOUR EXRA DAYS. NOW AFTER GETTING BACK HOME TO MARYLAND ON 6/5/16 I GO TO TRY AND ACCELORATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A RAMP AND THE TRANSMISSION REVS TO 5,500 RPM BUT THE JEEP WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO EASE OFF THE GAS AND LET IT ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY. THANK GOD NO TRUCKS WERE COMING OR IT COULD HAVE BEED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION CONSIDERING IT WAS INTERSTATE 95 BY 175 WHERE SEMI TRUCKS GO TO THE TA TRUCK STOP.

AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED STARTED LEAKING OIL. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL COOLER WAS FAILING AND LEAKING. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE "STANDARD" OIL FILTER THAT HAD BEEN INSTALLED AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE (WHICH WAS DONE AT A REPUTABLE FACILITY) WAS THICKER AND BETTER THAN THE FILTER CHRYSLER USES. THIS THICKER, BETTER FILTER APPARENTLY CAUSES OIL PRESSURE TO INCREASE IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINE TO MOVE THE OIL THRU THIS FILTER. A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE FOUND MULTIPLE OTHER ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME PART FAILING. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IF I USE ANY OIL FILTER OTHER THAN THE ONE THEY SELL THAT IF ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURS IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED.

THIS HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN 1 DAY ON 400 MILE TRIP. HAPPENED WHILE PASSING 18 WHEELER ON A 2 LANE ROAD. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE. 3 VIDEOS WERE PROVIDED TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOWING THE OCCURRENCE. DOES NOT SET ANY CODES.

WE HAD NOTICED AN OIL LEAK WHICH WAS CAUSING SMOKE & TERRIBLE SMELL. LUCKILY NO FIRE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WE PURCHASED IT FROM, AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR CITING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ELSEWHERE, THEREFORE IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. WE HAD IT REMOVED FROM THERE AND TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER, WHO ACKNOWLEDGED SAID PROBLEM AND REPAIRED THE JEEP UNDER WARRANTY. (DEFECTIVE OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY). THIS APPEARS TO BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS IS A 2014 VEHICLE, THE COMPLAINTS SEEM TO BE EXCESSIVE. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM DELIBERATELY TRIED TO BLAME SOMEONE ELSE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUGHT ON FIRE. WE ARE LUCKY. DOCUMENTATION, REPAIR INVOICES TO FOLLOW IF NEEDED.

THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD LEAVE DRIVERS STRANDED AND COULD POSE SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS.

AFTER THREE OR FOUR TRIES, IT EVENTUALLY WENT INTO GEAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON, AND WE DROVE THE 60 MILES OR SO BACK HOME AT A MUCH SLOWER SPEED. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK ON MONDAY, WHICH I DID AND THEY KEPT IT SEVERAL DAYS BUT COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I LEAVE A MINUTE AFTER OR LET IT IDLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES MOST TIMES AND THEN I AM ON MY WAY. AFTER REACHING AN INITIAL SPEED OF 40-45 FOR THE FIRST MILE, I SLOW DOWN NORMALLY APPROACHING THE FIRST STOP (FOOT ON BRAKE). AT THIS POINT THE TACHOMETER IS DOWN BELOW THE 1500-1000 RANGE; THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHUTTER AS IF I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AS WELL. COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE TACHOMETER IS ERRATIC FROM IDLE TO THE 1500 OR SO RANGE AND THE VEHICLE IS VIBRATING AND IF I DON?T LET OFF THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE STALLS. PUTTING IT IN PARK IT STARTS NORMALLY DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY, ONCE AFTER WORK ONE NIGHT. THE WORST HAPPENED LAST WEEK WHEN I RESTARTED AND WENT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT SEEM TO STAY IN PARK AS THE RPMS WENT UP BUT DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS PULLING OUT OF A RED LIGHT AND IT SEEMED THE JEEP WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS, THE RPMS REVVED UP AND IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT KEEPING UP WITH THE RPMS. I JUST DROVE MY VEHICLE AND THEN PARKED IT AT MY HOME ON A DRIVEWAY THAT HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE. I PARKED VEHICLE IN 1ST GEAR (6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION), AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER I WAS IN MY YARD AND HEARD A MUFFLED POP NOISE AND THEN A CLICKING SOUND THAT RESEMBLED A ROLLER COASTER RIDE WHEN THE CARS ARE BEING PULLED UP A STEEP HILL. I TURNED AROUND AND SAW MY VEHICLE GOING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. IT COLLIDED WITH MY WIFE'S VEHICLE THEN HIT A TREE. THE VEHICLE HAS 2800 MILES ON IT. WHEN I GOT IN VEHICLE THE SHIFT WAS IN 1ST GEAR, AND BRAKE APPLIED. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND LET OFF THE CLUTCH AND THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD, INDICATING THAT IT WAS IN FACT IN FIRST GEAR STILL. I DUPLICATED WHERE I PARKED IT AGAIN AND IT MOVED BACKWARDS AGAIN. CORRECTIVE ACTION ALSO REQUIRED BLOWER AND HEATER ON HIGHEST SETTINGS TO COOL BLOCK AND MAINTAIN OPERABLE DRIVING CONDITION TEMPERATURES.
