The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 - 65 MPH, the instrument panel suddenly failed to illuminate, then completely went black. While attempting to fix the failure, an image of the type of vehicle was displayed, and the instrument panel illuminated intermittently. Over time, the instrument panel only illuminated with a blue light but failed to display the temperature, mileage, and other necessary safety information. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has experienced repeated no-start failures and electrical/CAN-bus communication issues. The vehicle has intermittently failed to start and ultimately became completely inoperable. Due to the electrical failure, the vehicle was towed to an authorized Jeep dealership on June 8, 2025. Despite remaining in the dealership’s possession for several months, no diagnostic testing or repairs have been completed. The electrical failure prevents safe and reliable operation of the vehicle and poses a risk of being stranded without warning. As of December 2025, the vehicle remains inoperable and unrepaired.
Dash cluster will go blank upon starting. This has happened every few weeks since I bought it in Nov 2019. Reported to local dealership in ealry 2020, but when you turn off Jeep, the next time it restarts, everything looks fine and they could not reproduce the problem at the dealership and had no answers as they had not seen it before, as no codes were being given. I never went back since i was told they had no answers. When it happens, you are driving blind-No digital speedometer, warning lights or gas gauge when it happens. Now the most recent issue, the security system light comes on randomly upon starting. Also have to push start button more than once to get it to actually start, so this could be different issues. A recall for the cluster finally came out last year i think, but my Jeep was not on the recall list even though it DOES have the problem and has had it for years. Would love some help or guidance!
When shifting into reverse, the rear camera feed would not appear on screen. I tried shifting into other gears and back into reverse multiple times, and it did not appear any time the vehicle was in reverse. The gear indicator did show that the vehicle was in reverse. The display for the rear parking sensors did appear on the instrument cluster, but there were no obstacles at the time, so I do not know if the sensors or the rear cross traffic warning were functioning as intended. I did not observe any other warnings or symptoms of a problem. This issue only persisted for one drive cycle. I drove home without the rear camera that day, and the next time the car was started, the rear camera feed was working again. Since it has worked ever since, I have not had anyone inspect the vehicle about this problem. I did not feel that my safety was at risk, and to my knowledge, there were no people nearby exterior to the vehicle when the camera feed was malfunctioning. However, my visibility to the rear was impaired, and had someone been near the rear of the vehicle while I was reversing, their safety would have been at risk.
Unknown, but when I attempted to accelerate onto a highway, and the engine threw the check engine light along with the electric throttle light and the traction control system. The battery was still show 14.3volts, the oil pressure was in range and the temperature of the engine was normal. The vehicle wouldn't go faster than about 20-25mph with out shifting hard and or the RPMs rev high to shift. The mechanic said both batteries are shot and the electric mapping system maybe faulty.
We found cracks in the battery from swelling. We know for certain that the BPCM needs to be replaced. This issue is the same one the NRTA did a recall on for 2020+ Jeep Wrangler models. I had the issue fixed (was un-driveable) and it cost me over $4000. Looking for detail on why 2018 models weren’t considered in the latest recall.
On August 6, 2025, while driving at approximately 65 mph on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of motive power. The engine warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle would not accelerate, forcing an emergency maneuver across multiple lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. This failure occurred just one day after a warranty repair for the same issue, and followed a previous 199-day repair for a known camshaft defect. This sudden power loss in highway traffic created an extreme and unreasonable risk of a high-speed collision and serious injury.
Faulty CANBUS connector/CANBUS failure. This issue tends to be a random and inconvenient occurrence which can be difficult to initially diagnose. Causes the jeep to stall, power steering to fail, causes all dash lights to light up and keeps the jeep from start up. Acts as if the part needs to cool down before the jeep will restart. The failure of this part has caused the jeep to stall on the highway at high speeds. Two manufacturer dealers inspected the battery, auxiliary battery, alternator and starter; found no issue with those parts. One dealer said our issue was due to the ABS module; replaced it and it did not fix the issue. Replaced the CANBUS connector and the issue has resolved. This is a known issue among jeeps both new and old and can pose a serious safety risk. To answer the question of how fast the vehicle was going when this issue occurred; the failure of this part happens at both highway speeds and residential speeds. There are currently 52,XXX miles on our jeep and the failure started, roughly, April of 2019. Jeep was purchased, brand new, April of 2018. It started with the jeep failing to start then grew to the jeep entirely stalling out while driving.
Dashboard information disappears at random including mileage, speedometer, etc. Radio and backup cam freeze and reset regularly. Taken to dealership multiple times since 2018 and they never fix it.
Continuous engine problems Says not in park/ is in park Clicking sounds when turned off Steering wheel won’t lock Will turn over but won’t start even tho all lights come on and air All lights will turn off when brake is pressed and when foot is off brake the lights will flash and the car will beep continuously All lights in gear will be lit up orange but can’t move it
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the instrument cluster went black. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The fuel pump relay that is embedded within the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited after only 47391 miles, causing intermittent engine stalls and problems starting. When taken to the Sisbarro Deming, NM CDJR dealership for repair, there were no replacement TIPMs in the stock system available to fix my vehicle, despite my vehicle being only 7 years old. This suggests an abnormally high rate of failure if the manufacturer is unable to maintain an adequate stock to support their vehicles. Given this has been an issue with Jeeps of previous model years (1), it is evident the problem has not been addressed yet. The mileage fails to read accurately. It occasionally doesn't display at all or reads 999999. Compass is sometimes incorrect. Thermometer is incorrect.
The part that failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL with 2.0L I4 Turbo or 3.6L V6 eTorque engine is the BPCM: Part Name: Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) Part Number: 05057870 or 68381513AA My dealer advised the the battery was "bloated" and at risk of catching fire & exploding. Under further review, the very SAME part was recalled for 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. [XXX] Mopar advised that my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with eTorque has a BPCM which is part of the 48V mild hybrid system, which is not installed in all Wranglers — only those with the eTorque system. I believe this setup in my Jeep is the SAME setup as in the 2020-2024 Jeep models which had the recall. There is much evidence of this same issue with the eTorque setup online to reference. ABS module has failed and has shut off the cruse control system. The O.E. module is on national back order with no idea of it availability. The unit is still in the vehicle. Non-A.B.S. brakes work. How ever the traction control system is shut off as well as the cruse control system posing a greater risk to all. Search on several internet sites confirms that this issue has been noted to the manufacture with no resolution. Owners are left to find their own part and none are available.
I lost power steering while driving due to bad can bus connector cause by poor solder joints.
I have experienced an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) display failure, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This failure poses a direct safety risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road. The display initially flickered and flashed, which created a driving distraction, and now it has gone completely blank. Without the IPC, I cannot monitor the speedometer, fuel level, warning lamps, or other vital vehicle information. I believe this condition violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101 regarding the accessibility and visibility of required controls and displays, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. The issue has been inspected by an independent service center, which confirmed the failure and encouraged me to contact the manufacturer about a potential recall. There were no warning lamps, error codes, or messages prior to the failure. The first symptoms appeared a couple of months ago when the display began flickering intermittently. Since then, the problem has worsened to the point where the display now rarely turns on at all.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the instrument cluster was inoperable and displayed a blank screen. During the failure, the driver was unable to view the fuel levels, engine temperature levels, and any safety warnings. The local dealer was informed of the failure, and the instrument cluster was serviced by an independent mechanic and reinstalled by the dealer. Shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000( ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 28,000.

All of our warning lights would come on at once we would lose steering power then it would go dark. We’d have to pull over shut it off then we’d have to wait at least 30 minutes before we could get it back in gear to drive it anywhere. This has happened more than three times. We now have it in a dealership and want to know, I think there was a recall on it in September but we did not get a letter so we want to know how to file the paperwork to get this fixed very disappointed with this we just put 2500 into it for new camshaft and now this is going to cost us around 600. I don’t have the receipts right now to download but I can upload them when I get the copies. Just wondering what help we can get it was very scary when all the power shuts down we were very lucky not to be in an accident
My car randomly illuminates every light on the dashboard and my speedometer will say zero mph and I lose all power steering and have to put my car into neutral and roll to a stop because my brakes won’t work either. Then I cannot turn off the ignition or accessory. Check engine light is on and my car starts but there are no brakes or power steering. Thankful my kids were not in the car!

After filing my first concern with the vehicle and attempting to rack my brain with answers to why a 2018 is falling apart at the seams, I can only come up with either fraud, or the vehicle has been modified in major ways and glued together only to fall apart every bump I go over. After some reading I’m questioning 49 CFR part 565 form that was turned in after I purchased the vehicle means that I possibly have a replica, “remanufactured”, or altered vehicle. I’m not sure of the legality of selling a vehicle built from whatever vehicles I have, I do know that parts are not all the same years upon scanning modules I got some strange replacement identifiers that I will send. I also question if it really passed emissions being that my short term fuel trim sensor passed the catalytic converter on both sides stays over 99% consistently, also one of the “inspection” reports was done 2 minutes apart and the paper states that the vehicle passed at 5:08 then failed at 5:10 pm the same day. Not many vehicles tend to try again after passing and 2 minutes apart. I would have never bought a vehicle that not only has random foreign parts but a 2015 vehicle is also showing up under module information. I’ll never have recall information, and it seems that every system in the vehicle meant to warn or save me and my family when driving is compromised completely, yet somehow someone was allowed to pretend that I was buying a 2018 jeep Sahara unlimited with no record on carfax that what I am paying over 50 grand for with tax doesn’t just get bad gas and jump half the road when I hit a bump “because it’s a Jeep”. I should have been made aware that I was buying something scrapped, and that the odometer could be from any of them. I would like to receive a report of the form filed months after I purchased the vehicle and my entire jeep changed description and was no longer being monitored for safety. The IPC, BCM, TCM, and ECU aren’t properly communicating, and panels are all shifting.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the stability control and traction control warning lights along with several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The power steering and fuel gauge were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the Can Buss Connector to the circuit board located behind the glove box had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order and not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Jeep randomly shuts off while actively driving. I have automatic JL. Screen shows to service clutch. All dash lights come on, no buss bar detected, ABS, No traction control, Airbags, park sense off, check engine, steering locks up. Engine shuts off while driving. MPH screen goes blank all electrical stops working. Connector behind stock bumper is expised to the elements causing shortage. Putting my life in danger everytime I drive
Instrument cluster panel needs replacing as odometer reading is 9999999 when turning the car on. Showing as a known issue in this make/model vehicle yet this VIN is not included for some unknown reason. Would like this included for reimbursement.
The check engine light came on in my car. I was waiting for the dealer to call me to fix it for the 3rd time. I was on my way home when every electrical option on the vehicle turned on- wipers, lights, dash lights, brake- which caused the car to brake- then it turned off and I had no brakes, the car had no steering, it accelerated and I went off the road.

The dash board stared to flash all sorts of symbols check engine light, auto start stop, sway bar disconnect unavailable, shifter problem. And then the power steering does not work, sometimes the throttle has no power, and sometimes the engine shuts off.
I was driving about 65 MPH and was turning with the road and my Jeep started to shake violently. I just about lost control of the vehicle. I pulled over on the Interstate to check and see if I had a flat on a front tire or if the wheel was falling off of the Jeep. It was a very scary and unpleasant experience to have at 4:30 am going to work. Not sure what the problem is with the suspension or steering, but I thought for sure I was going to get in a wreck and Traffic is really heavy which would have been very bad for many drivers!
The instrument cluster went out on the vehicle. I cannot see my speed, how much gas, temperature of the coolant, etc... The whole instrument cluster went completely blank.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has experienced intermittent situatuion of 999,999 appearing as the mileage on the odometer. If it appears, it usually resets to the actual mileage (approximately 58,500) after a short drive. There is an open recall to address this issue for the same year Jeep Wranglers, but doesn’t include my vehicle. I have taken the car into the dealer and had them escalate the issue, but Jeep refuses to address, as it was not part of the recall. Therefore, i am writing to have the criteria for that recall reevaluated, as my car has the issue yet is not a part of the recall. Please see recall - NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 Instrument Panel Failure/FMVSS 101. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
First it was my clutch blowing up including the transmission from underneath me while I drove down a hwy. Then it was a month later before I got it back. (I'm single, and it's my only vehicle). Once I got my jeep back the start/stop button stopped working. I had to lock/unlock with the key fob for it to start. Even with both fobs in the jeep. Now every code, 101 to be exact) is being thrown out of nowhere. Every light goes off, the wipers start going off, the sway bar and traction control disconnects while I'm driving along with the steering wheel locking up while I'm driving down the hwy. The brakes are pulling very badky to the left and /or right. The entire thing is absolutely a death trap. I can't believe this was passed by someone who has the customers best interest for safety. I'd like to know if any of this is recalled because it's been every jeep from 2018-2021 that have this issues. Also 5th gear now vibrats pretty bad.
ABS malfunction. Power steering and brakes go in and out of operation due to a communication error. All lights come on dash, engine light stays on. Occurs mainly when vehicle is hot during summer or above 65mph highway driving. Safety concern as vehicle power steering is unpredictable during this time. The Drive shaft locks in park and requires manual override when lights are on, but then without intervention, all the lights go away except the engine light and it runs fine. ABS modules are on back order with no ETA because this is a recurring problem for many. Once new abs module is put it, problem can be confirmed and more details can be given by auto repair services.
INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FLICKERS ON AND OFF. NOW HAVE A BLANK SCREEN. I CANT SEE MY INFORMATION FOR THE JEEP. GAS GAUGE , NOTHING AT ALL. NOW ITS AFFECTING THE RADIO.
INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER GOES ON AND OFF. FLICKING ON AND OFF THEN SOMETIMES HAVE A BLANK SCREEN. I CANT SEE MY INFORMATION FOR THE JEEP. GAS GAUGE , NOTHING AT ALL. I USED THE FIXD APP AND SAW THAT IT WAS A RECALL ON THE PRODUCT.
BACK UP CAMERA GOES ON AND OFF. SOMETIME IT WORKS SOMETIMES IT DONT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START THE VEHICAL. SOMETIME THE CAMERA IS THERE , SOMETIME ITS NOT WORKING
I have read a lot about the "Death Wobble." It appears there has been no recall on this but I believe there have been many incidents. Almost every day that the vehicle is driven and we hit a bump in the road going between 30-45 miles the steering wheel shakes aggressively. Would you not call this a definitely a safety hazard? The second issue is the dash board reading goes blank occasionally. Unable to see the speed and or gas usage. Both issues I would say are safety issues. It appears that many Jeep owners have faced the same issues. Neither of these issues have been inspected. I don't feel that we should be responsible for the cost of the inspection. Jeep should stand behind their product.
The radio touchscreen delaminated. Do to the delamination the screen would experience 'ghost touches' resulting in random controls being pressed. For example, At times, while driving highway speed the backup camera would activate and distract the driver and require screen input to deactivate while driving. SOmetimes 911 would be called through a ghost touch. Anything that could be pressed is possible. This is a major driver distraction and while it did not cause an injury while I was driving, it clearly is a safety hazard to take eyes off the road (and hands) when the screen is flickering with different actions. the only fix is to replace the screen by the dealership.
The Jeeps Instrument Cluster went blank. There is nothing on the screen. No speed gauge, indication of the amount of gas, temperature, etc. This is a safety issue with speed and gas.
The jeep screen delaminates which will cause 'ghost taps' on the screen. These ghost taps could do anything that can be changed in the vehicle while still or driving. For example, while driving at highway speeds, the rear view camera will activate on the screen causing a major distraction from driving. Additionally, anything else can happen from dailing random phone numbers, calling 911, turning the heat to high or off, changing any setting.....all while driving. Driver distraction is a major cause of accidents and a known delamination issue must be investigated. This is a common issue for certain model years of the jeeps or similar FCA cars.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the instrument panel had gone blank while driving at moderate speeds. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); which the contact linked to the failure. The contact searched the VIN on the NHTSA website and discovered that the VIN was not included in the recall. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

While driving the transmission and clutch system blew up. And I mean that in the literale sense. Sparks and a big flash. Unfortunately, I was an hour away from where I live. This caused me to have to find a way home and find a tow company that would be able to pick up my jeep on the side of the highway, tow it an hour to me. I couldn't afford that, so it was taken to the Chrysler dealership there and it was there for a month before they could work on it due to the parts having to be ordered and shipped in. Once the entire clutch system and transmission fully replaced I have to find a way to go back and pick it up. It was after hours when I finally got to it. That's when the mechanic that worked on it researched and found the recall for the transmission and clutch system because they would blow up. Just as mine did. But the next set of problems started as soon as I picked my jeep up. Pulls to the right when braking, push start won't start saying the fobs are not detected while I'm holding them in my hands. All lights on cluster go off randomly, the steering wheel locks up while I'm driving causing more danger. The traction control, sway bar will go off and on as well as the push start will not turn off. I did manage to take a short clip of this happening while I'm driving.
After having to have my transmission and clutch system replaced because it all blew up, upon receiving my jeep back afterwards more issues have now arised. Cluster lights all light up, as well as the speed indicator doesn't work. The traction control and sway bar connection go sporadically on and off. The radio shows no signal the back up camera doesn't work, the steering wheel locks up while I'm driving and causes me to have to pull over but I can't pull off to the side because the steering wheel is locked.
The screen to my jeep is delaminating and is almost unusable. I can't even turn the screen off now and the car will try to make SOS calls and call people from my phone. It will turn on directions automatically. I almost ran over a pedestrian because I was distracted with the screen trying to hang up from a phone call that the car automatically dialed. My [XXX] son just started driving this vehicle and I worry for his safety and the safety around him. If I almost caused a fatal car accident because of this issue with many years of experience, what will happen with a newly driver that can't handle any distractions? The instrumental panel started blinking two days ago and now is completely out. I'm unable to read speedometer or my gas gauge.
Having issues with the instrument panel cluster. It intermittent flickers and has gone black several times. The issue is the same as recall 30B from Mopar. My VIN is not included in the recall even though it falls under make, model and years affected. I feel that it should be replaced due to safety concerns. This issue has happened 4 times in the last month.

1. Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel. AN Instrument Panel That Fails TO Display Critical Safety Information, Such AS THE Speedometer or Warning Lights, CAN Increase THE Risk OF A Crash. My VIN said there is no recall for this and my vehicle has this problem. 2. Blind Spot Warning becomes disabled and errors out periodically even when there are no issues with sensors and sensors are cleaned. When error occurs, the Blind Spot Warning lights remain active even when there are no objects in the blind spot.

The instrument cluster panel on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler shut down in December, 2024, with no advance warning. I purchased my Jeep in March, 2019, and per my dealership, it currently has 38,488 miles. I was told that I would have to bring my Jeep and leave it with them so they could order the part and replace the instrument cluster panel. They advised the repair would be completed by 1/3/2025. When I contacted them on 1/3, I was advised that the instrument cluster was on back order and had no additional information as to when it would be received. I have received no further information from the dealership. However, I found that there was a recall by the FCA US LLC on this part which included 2018 Jeep Wranglers. I called the FCA US LLC Customer Center on 1/7/2025 and after being on hold for 90 minutes, I finally was able to speak with “Dave” and explain the issue. Although he advised that my Jeep was not recalled, he created my Case #[XXX], and advised the Specialty Department would call me within 1 business day. As of today, 1/10/2025 I still have not received any such call, nor have I heard anything more from the dealership. How am I supposed to get this fixed when nobody is able to help me?! Was using the heated steering well smelt something burning, then the heated component did not work
My vehicle started showing the airbag light on and it ended up being the clock spring, many jeep wranglers have being recalled because the same issue. The clock spring is the one that controls cruise, airbag, horn, traction, etc. i took it to the dealership and they said the vehicle was showing the B1B02 code, witch the the same why all the other jeeps were recalled but there is not a recall yet for my year. I want to people be aware of the importance of it, because in a crash the airbag will not deploy and even not in a crash the cruise control could malfunction anytime. I got my vehicle repaired today for a total of $1137.00 that wasn’t covered my extended warranty because they alleged the clock spring/airbag problem is reported very often. This is a really safety matter for all the jeep owners!!!
While driving at 55 mph the brake light, service abs system, check engine light, service 4wd, service transmission, loss of power steering, and engine cooling fan ran very fast. I was lucky to pull off the road and put the vehicle in Park. The 4 Way flashers would blink erratically. Engine still running wouldn't come out of Park. I turned the vehicle off.l let it set a few minutes. I then restarted the vehicle and it shifted into gear and drove home with the check engine light on. The next day it had no check engine light.
The navigation/radio screen has delamination. At first, I thought it was just cosmetic. Starting in July of 2024, it started doing things independently, such as changing channels, the source, and switching between navigation and backup camera; on [XXX], it started turning on Bluetooth and calling 911. I can not turn it on because it continues to call 911. The vehicle only has 20,900 miles. The local dealership and Jeep are aware of the problem and have offered to repair it at a cost to me. This is a manufacture defect that needs to be fixed/recalled by Jeep. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Incident date: [XXX], electrical problems causing loss of steering, 65 miles per hour, EXTREME action required to keep on road. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport (4 door), 3.6L engine, bought new July 2018, Everett Washington. RPM and speedometer gauges went to zero, loss of power steering, all dashboard warning lights blinking on/off, digital speedometer only showed dashes (- - -) windshield wipers came on scraping bare hot window (outside air temperature 104 degree F), radiator fan went full on, engine kept running but miss-firing/rough, managed to get off freeway and stopped, turned off ignition for 5 minutes. On restart, all errors (except Check Engine Light) disappeared and car appeared normal, no stored warning messages. This is second occurrence. Picture is similar to my errors (it is from Jeep Forum,[XXX] Location: [XXX]. What is going to happen if I am off road and it dies? Or on a Los Angeles Freeway? I might be dead. Within 1 year of getting our Wrangler we experienced issues with the instrument panel short circuit and also the rear camera stopped functioning. I brought it to the dealership and they said it would require hours to repair them and it wasn't covered under warrantee. I've now seen 2 recalls regarding these issues, Short Circuit: [XXX] : [XXX] While I intend to inquire about these and the latter recall is fairly new, i haven't received notice of either. Additionally, in 2022, far within my warranty, the aux battery that restarts the car for the stop/start function, failed to maintain a charge. The car shut off in the middle of an exit ramp on the highway. It was particularly concerning because the engine was stalling anytime I stepped on the brakes. I brought it in for service and Jeep charged me for the entire replacement of the aux battery since it wasn't under warranty. I'm not sure if this is a recurring issue but I wanted to bring it to your attention also. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
1. Both driver and passenger front seat latches that allow seat to fold forward to access rear seats have broken at approximately 70,000 miles. This will be the second time for the driver side to be repaired. It was repaired back in 2018 under warranty when brand new and has now failed. Currently the cost to repair is approximately $500. The replacement parts are made of flimsy plastic that will break again. 2. Head unit for radio display and climate controls failed at approximately 60,000 miles. Not covered by warranty. Paid over $1,500 to replace.
The instrument panel cluster LED screen occasionally freezes and does not accurately reflect the gear the vehicle is in, speed, etc. Recently the screen froze and continued to display P (indicating vehicle in park) even while the vehicle was shifted to Reverse and Drive. This presents a serious safety risk as the gauge cluster indicates the vehicle is in park when it is in fact in gear. Also, as the display remains on even when the vehicle is turned off the battery may run dead leaving the driver stranded. Our local dealer was unable to get the vehicle to reproduce the issue while in their shop. They advised they were not able to identify an issue. However, we have experienced this issue on 3 separate occasions. This issue was not preceded by any warning lights or audible signals. The issue first occurred at 65,540 miles in the time we have owned it. Unfortunately, I cannot say if this was an issue with the vehicle before we purchased it in July of 2024. We have video evidence of this issue, but the clips are too large to attach here. Please advise if there is somewhere we can email them.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the instrument panel became inoperable and turned black. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

My 2018 Jeep JL SPORT and it's electrical issues. It looses power steering and then the light show begins. Service Electronic Throttle, Service Shifter, Service Stop-Start System, Service ESC, Auto Park Disabled, No Bus, Speed Control Messaging Unavailable Service Required, Fluctuating Gauges. I have seen on YouTube how other jeep owners have this same issued a national issued that needs to be address and fix because is very dangerous and loss control on your vehicle while driving is a horrible experience that multiple people are facing.
After starting the Jeep Wrangler it will not shift into drive and it says shifter needs service, then ABS needs service start stop needs service, it keeps flashing these warnings. It can sit for a hour or day then becomes driveable, took to local mechanic he says it's a Jeep dealer problem (had several people with this problem) they did repairs, but call them and they say never heard of this problem. It's a 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
The sensors, in particular the blind spot warning, randomly light up and stay on until the vehicle is turned off. Radio and navigation system randomly shuts off, and check engine light goes on and off randomly. While driving at night, my entire dash flashed a red warning that there was no oil in the vehicle. I immediately pulled over at a gas station. It was dark, I couldn’t see, and it was 2am in a town I was unfamiliar with. I added 1 quart of oil ( I couldn’t really see the dipstick). The warning light went off, and the check engine light came on. I went 30 minutes to my destination and had the car towed to the dealership the next day. They said it was an o2 sensor, and that there was TOO MUCH oil in the vehicle so they drained it and did an oil change. I picked it up, drove less than 5 miles, and the check engine light came back on. I immediately returned to the dealership. They had it for several days before telling me that I had to replace the Catalytic Converters (2 of them) because I had overfilled the oil. They deemed it my fault. Since then the sensor problems continued, and the check engine light would randomly go on and off. Now it’s at the dealership again because it was leaking oil after an oil change. The dealership, and inspector from my extended warranty are saying that it has a blown engine because there was too little oil (in spite of NO SENSOR going off warning that the oil was low). Extended warranty inspector wants me to authorize a complete engine tear down for further inspection ($7000) and the dealership says I should just replace the engine ($11,000).
Since the purchase in 2018, the radio screen stays black for several minutes after starting. Dealer says nothing is wrong but replaced it once. Death wobble is back after recall of steering dampener.

1. The power steering, gauge cluster, multifunction display, wipers, door locks, ignition on/off, blinker and most other electronic aspects fail or operate without command. 2. The speedometer does not show speed, power steering fails entirely or intermittent including in turns, turn signals fail to indicate, traction control shows failure, abs shows failure, 4wd shows failure, airbags show failure. Vehicle turns off while on highway due to fuel sensor indicating empty even though the car is filled with at least half a tank. 3. Yes, multiple times, Demontrond Jeep Conroe, Tx 4. Yes by Demontrond Jeep Conroe, Tx 5. All warning lights illuminate at time of failures. No lights were observed before initial failure. Failures began August of 2023.
Service Shifter indicator comes on and check engine light comes on. All electronics go crazy and power steering is completely lost.
I have been having electrical problems with my jeep for a couple of months. I took it in to my jeep dealer that found over fifty problem codes. They cleared the codes and drove it for 180 miles over two weeks and could not get anything to duplicate. Some codes- service shifter, abs not communicating, engine light, no speedometer, sway bar service, service 4 wheel drive, cruise control off, remote start off, and more. They had me take it home and let them know if it continues. It did so I took it to a different mechanic and he came up with 72 codes and he couldn’t track any of them to a source. So I picked it up today and on the way home on the interstate curved overpass going 65 it suddenly veered to the right at the retaining wall. The power steering quite. It was all I could do to keep it from hitting the wall. If it would of been my wife driving she would of wrecked. I was almost home and was able to muscle it home barley able to turn into the drive way. After a while I went back outside and started it and the power steering worked just fine.
ABS Module, confirm with dealer ship and automotive shop. Loss of power steering, lost use of drive shaft, car completely stalled on main road.
Several electrical issues, vehicle issues tying back to the CAN BUSS. The vehicle throws several codes and several components quit working. I lost powering steering at 80 M.P.H and had to fight the vehicle not to wreck out. Then the power steering comes back to function again almost causing me to wreck out. Traction control also stops working when this issue occurs, which is also incredibly dangerous. The vehicle then starts jerking and becoming unresponsive. New batteries, changed Can Buss connectors and no solution. There are hundreds of reported issues with this on the forums. Chrysler and Fiat should be held responsible. These issues are going to be the cause of someone's death. Just because this incident did not involve a "crash, fire or death" does not mean the next will not.
The bottom electrical panel for the fuse box went out a few months ago for the wipers we have fixed the wiper motor, wiper relay, wiper switch and still nothing was told by the jeep dealership that they had 4 other jeeps have the same issue and it was this part that went out
Every dash warning lights come on, radio cuts off, steering loss occurs, have to fight steering to get pulled over, turn it off and back on, sometimes resets but not always. Issue happens at random but the last time it occurred around a curve, nearly went off the road because of the steering loss. Had all the wires and grounds cleaned & checked, all batteries are good, alternator is good, all relays are good.
The Wrangler will shift out of gear and into neutral and steering become very hard and difficult to maneuver while accelerating from a stopped position and at times at highway speed. On the highway one can coast to the side of the road and shut off engine and restart and move again. This can also be done at an intersection but big safety concerns when pulling onto a highway with traffic, Multiple check lights will come on including check engine, stability control and service shifter. The Jeep has been taken to the dearer for repair to no resolve. Codes are cleared and problem persists. Began at about 70k miles and has persisted since.
Began receiving hundreds of error codes. The vehicle, while operating, would have the lockers engage, disengage, wouldn't start suddenly, ABS activated, sway bar disengaging, and other things. This represented a tremendous saftey risk for any occupants and was quite frightening. We had it at the dealership several times. We spent $1000 replacing both batteries and all harnesses were checked. The problem improved but never was fully resolved. Now a year after all of that work, we are experiencing more problems again.
I have had the rear defroster tab re soldered at dealer under warranty. I don't use the rear defroster because it is parked in garage. After a cold spell at the end of January 2024 heading out on road trip I turned on the rear defroster, 5 minutes down the road the rear window exploded sending glass everywhere. When inspecting the broken window I noticed a burn mark on a sticker where the tab is connected to the glass. This could have caused an accident if traveling on the highway. Jeep has been repairing window tabs when they should be replacing the entire window.
My vehicle defrost was on for the back defroster on my way to work as it was one of the coldest days where I live. I work for the fire department and work 48 hrs on. The second day of my shift one of my coworkers noticed the back window broken out on my jeep. Upon looking at what caused it there is burn marks where the rear defrosters touch the window. I initially called the police but they agreed the window was broken due to the rear defroster wires burning the window causing it to break out. Jeep sent out an engineer and is denying all liability. There are TONS of people reporting this on the jeep forums/blogs. I have pictures to prove the burn marks. It appears it happens so often that a jeep sales company “Quadratec” is sold out of replacement rear windows. One guy posted on the Jeep Forum it happened while he was driving 70 on an interstate. Another gentleman posted it happened two times to him as his rear window just broke out. There are tons of pictures on the Jeep blog as well. I have several pictures of mine and it’s still broken. I’m due to get it repaired on Monday Jan 29, 2024. I can forward all my pictures if need be.
Jeep dash warning lights will randomly all come on at once. This includes service shifter, service airbags, service braking system, ABS warning, cruise control disabled and many others. When it does this, which is daily, the power steering goes out completely at highway speeds and sometimes curves. This has caused me to nearly hit other drivers head on with my family in the vehicle with me. It has left me stranded many times by not recognizing the key fobs and locking the transmission in park at stop lights. I just bought the vehicle, with 64000 miles on it, in October as my primary transportation and I am afraid to drive it. This has caused me severe hardship and endangered mine and my family's life on several occasions. This problem is extremely common with my model year, as seen on several online forums and Jeep has refused to acknowledge the problem or recall the vehicles. It was purchased from a Jeep dealer, Tim Short of Middlesboro Ky. I can understand wear and tear on vehicles, but this has been an issue with 2018 Jeep Rubicons for years. If this problem goes uncorrected, many people WILL die as a result of this issue. Autos are the only thing I know of that, if defective, cannot be returned for a full refund. Something should be done, since I have an 800 dollar monthly payment and nothing to show for it. Thank you for any help you may provide.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH and making a slight left turn, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but became a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the computer system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The clutch plate has failed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. I brought it into the dealer to take a look at it when I was experiencing the clutch slipping while shifting into first gear and also the "Service Auto Start Stop" indicator illuminating. Once the indicator illuminated, it also prevented by cruise control from working. After the dealer conducted troubleshooting of the issue, they told me that it was due to a safety recall on the clutch plate but that parts were unavailable. This appointment took place on August 4th, 2023. I was told that this issue could lead to a fire, so I have not been driving the vehicle since then. As of October 31st 2023, they still do not have the necessary parts to fix the issue. In the meantime, I've had to arrange for alternate transportation which cost me ~$3,700.
Jeep is aware of faulty cluster packs that operate the dash and guages. They have stated it was a software issue (but the flash did not fix), but as soon as it is out of warranty they now say the cluster pack needs replacing for over $1000. The faulty system, reported all over Jeep blogs, results in a complete loss of gauges, speedometer, temp, etc leaving the driver in an u safe scenario of operation and putting others on the road at risk. This has happened to our other Jeep as well. When we contacted Jeep corporate we were told we would hear something within 24 hours, and never heard from them. This happens randomly until complete failure occurs. This started early in the ownership of the new vehicle.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 2 MPH, the engine started backfiring, and the vehicle was shuddering. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. there is a recall, 19A, that has no fix yet. the "this-might-happen" happened to me. clutch plate hot, hole through transmission, near melted fuel lines. got it fixed, major work $6000. Chrysler won't reimburse me because "there is no fix for the recall yet." that is the point. my car sustained major damage due to the recall issue with no fix. when they do find a fix, the replacement parts that i have now will still have to be fixed. nothing, including 3 weeks rental, covered under extended warranty because it is a recall issue. recall reimbursement documentation not processed because there is no fix. they have been running me around for almost 2 weeks. i am not someone who can drop $6000 without major pain. i paid with what cash i had, financed what i could at 23%, and had to have a friend use her credit card for the rest. i have nowhere left to turn.
Uconnect system started to control the HVAC, Sound, Phone, any other buttons that are available in the system. 8/22/23 I was traveling to my destination with the windows up when I noticed my Uconnect screen starting to click buttons without my input, I attempted to turn it off, but was unable to do so. I pulled over and turned the vehicle off and made sure to open and close door. When I turned the vehicle back on the issue stopped and I drove away. Approximately 1 mile later the music started blasting at full volume and HVAC system blowing hot air (84 degrees) all the way up. It caused me to almost lose control of my vehicle and required me to pull over on the side of the road. I was able to record approximately 10 seconds as proof of the concern. I turned off the vehicle and contacted Arrigo jeep and explained what had happened. They advised me to bring the vehicle in, which I did the same day. I explained what had happened and was advised by [XXX] and a service advisor that this has happened to many vehicles and It can be a software issue or delaminating of the screen. I left the vehicle with them to check. I went online and researched the concern I was having and what the service advisor had told me. Upon further research I found this is a problem plaguing Uconnect system like Arrigo confirmed with me. I was contacted on 8/23/23 by Arrigo who advised me that they could not replicate the problem, and since they couldn’t replicate it or find any codes there was nothing that they could do. This is a dangerous situation that could have caused me to crash the vehicle. Arrigo Jeep should be responsible for further researching and correcting this issue as soon as possible. There was NO warning that this concern would happen, and the dealer response is unacceptable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power, and went into LIMP Mode. The windshield wipers also disengaged. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to turn off the vehicle after several attempts. The contact stated that he restarted the vehicle after 30 minutes, and the vehicle responded as needed. The warning lights were no longer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to the computer system. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

I get a service shifter message and then vehicle steering wheel locks mid driving. Read it is the wiring harness. And is a repeats issue with jeep wrangler. My 2018 wrangler is at the dealership.
After several warning lights appeared, the power steering stopped working while I was driving the car on the highway.
ALL KINDS OF CODES CAME ON JEEP LOCKED UP COULDNT STEER ALMOST WRECKED. HAD TO TOLL NOW DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS THE ENGINE AFTER SAYING IT WAS THE STARTER
Recurring issue with my Jeep where seemingly every light on the dash, as well as the blind spot detectors, illuminates. The lights are accompanies by warning messages that indicate that electronic stability control and parking sense are unavailable. ABS lights, Traction Control, stability control, the brake light, and prompts to service 4WD are present. The impact varies based on whether or not the car is in motion. When it is not, as in the case of a cold start, the transmission is locked in Park. When the car is in motion, power steering intermittently goes out. If you pull over and put the vehicle in park while the lights are illuminated (i.e. if they don't clear), the car will get stuck in park until the lights clear. I have had the vehicle towed to the Jeep dealership in Natick, MA twice and, while they've charged me nothing, they've been unable to help due to the issue clearing and a lack of persistent diagnostic logs. Aside from the inconvenience, the sudden loss of power steering presents a safety issue. This has been going on for months, though the safety concern with steering only presented yesterday.
Cannot put car in drive from park position. “Service Shifter” light s up along with Abs, start/stop, All lights on dash light up while driving or in park, no power steering, all displays flickering, can not move vehicle. While in park, can not engage shifter,
While driving vehicle will randomly have multiple warning lights on display suddenly appear (ABS, check engine, stability control, traction control, etc.) and speedometer would either go to 0 or read blank. In some instances power steering also cut out causing vehicle to swerve or jerk without warning. Spouse was scared to drive it when this happened and pulled over to have it towed. Did not want to have the vehicle suddenly swerve or lose control and hit cross traffic or pedestrian on side walk. This issue would then suddenly resolve itself and return to normal state. On some occasions, when vehicle was started, it would not shift out of park at first, but then would correct itself and allow it to be shifted out of park and driven. When check engine light was active, had codes checked and none were active, only stored. Indicated ABS sensor or ABS module errors. Was able to have Chrysler Dealer check into and after 5 days of troubleshooting, they worked with Chrysler Engineering to determine that there was a star CAN connector that was malfunctioning. Installed part 68321746AA for $84 and labor of $527 to resolve issue.
While operating the vehicle, I lost Power Steering, Stability Control, Anti-Lock Brakes and when I was able to stop, the transmission was put into park and I was unable to shift gears. Dealership informed me that this is a known issue related to the Can Bus Connector located behind the glove compartment, which apparently controls all of the safety systems. There were multiple indicators lit on the dashboard along with a check engine light. Dealership is replacing the connector.
All the lights on the Jeep came on. Locked up nearly had a wreck. Had to be towed. Now dealership is saying its the motor. Everything shut down. This is not the first time the jeep has shut all the way down. This is very dangerous. We had replaced the starter, and battery and spark plugs and box. The jeep worked for a day then the second starter burned up .
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the residence, where she parked and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as needed. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to their location for a diagnostic test. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle and attempting to shift into drive(D), the gear shifter seized. The vehicle responded as needed after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer received remote assistance from Jeep engineers. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the messages "4WD Disabled", "Parking System Disabled", "Park" and other unknown messages were displayed. The traction control warning light, the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who cleared the codes, but could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated while driving 30-35 MPH, the windshield wipers engaged independently, the fuel gauge fluctuated up and down. Additionally, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle lost power steering functionality. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the residence of the contact's daughter. The contact stated upon restarting the vehicle, the TPMS and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. The contact stated the vehicle couldn't be diagnosed and out of pocket for rental and repairs for the vehicle.

Driving along at highway speed. lost power steering. All lights lit on dash. center LCD screen was giving warnings that all systems had failed. Anti lock brakes, gear selector, can bus systems, audio and GPS systems. Fortunately i was driving on a straight highway. I've looked into this issue. Its called the Christmas tree event. As all problem lights on dash light up. It looks like the fix is replacing 2 CANBUS ports behind glove box.
My JEEP STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, would not charge AND WOULD NOT CHANGE GEAR from park. I have less than 52,000 miles
All the warning lights turn on tachometer stops working and sometimes it looses power steering. I was driving about 45mph when all the warning lights turned on and I lost power steering. I had to pull over luckily it was when going straight. Very scary took to dealer they said they could not replicate picked up car 3days later happened again
My wife was driving her Jeep to work this morning and a warning message came on the info screen stating the vehicle was shutting down soon and to safely pull over. She only had a two minute warning which was not enough time to pull over to a safe place without risking injury from being hit from another vehicle. The Jeep ended up and powered down within the two minutes of receiving the warning which caused loss of engine power, no power steering and no power brakes. This seems to be a pretty dangerous combination. It literally left her in the roadway. We had the batteries checked and they are ok. The vehicle did start back but the warning light came on again so it is parked until we can get it towed to the dealership. Researching it online it seems to be a common issue with the 2018 JLU. She currently has 117,000 miles on the Jeep.
Electrical going haywire. While in drive it just wouldn’t do anything the gear shift “D” was blinking so I rolled to a safe place (thank god I was not on the freeway) turned it off then back on again apparently this is now a known problem not only for 2018 some were 2019 & 2020…… please investigate
For the last year on several occasions the power steering locks up and I am unable to control the vehicle. The lights on my dash start flickering and the vehicle starts stuttering like it is out of gas. It seems like an electrical issue where the vehicle is getting mixed signals so the power steering locks up. On 2 occasions while in motion I tried to turn off the road causing the vehicle to stall into oncoming traffic. My jeep has been at the dealership at least 4 times for the same issue and I have had 3 active cases through Chrysler. This happened again a few days ago and the Jeep is currently at the dealership. This is a real concern, and I’m scared for my safety while driving. This is an issue that happens at random times and then the vehicle returns to normal function.
The jeep had a p2138 code which is pedal sensor bad and p2127 took to black dodge jeep they found it bad replaced with OEM part 800 mi later p2138 code is back on and takes off on it's own
I'll be driving the jeep it's a 2018 rubicon jl and all of a sudden all the dash lights come on and if I stop the vehicle the D on the shifter will keep flashing and the jeep.wont move have taken into same dealership 7 times and it's continues to do the same thing they've changed abs module cleaned off grounds checked all plugs and connections and they keep saying it's fine. It's currently at the dealership for the same issue. It's been over a year of going to the dealership. Also one time.they told me it's ready came to pick it.up and it wouldn't go into drive.
2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL) Sahara Safety features all disable with this issue: Power steering (this could happen on the highway) Stability (STC), Antilock Braking, Blind spot, etc. While driving their appears to be an electrical short. The steering wheel locks up and all lights on dashboard come on. Several error messages "Auto Park Disabled", "Speed Control Messaging Unavailable", "Service Antilock Brake System", "Service Transmission Continue in DRIVE. Do Not Shift or Turn Off Engine" - to name a few. Dealers turn me way with simple computer reboot solutions only for issue to reoccur. Issue presents itself intermittently. Dealer has regularly turned me away for being unable to replicate in non driving conditions.
I have taken vehicle into jeep 4 times in less than 2 years . Auto start stop (ESS) fails first then check engine comes on right after car shuts off on own WHILE driving & stalls hard . We have been rear ended because of it thankfully we were not on freeway after googling and asking jeep community this is VERY COMMON in these jeeps . Aux battery goes dead and causes this issue and burns out a fuse and the main battery . We have replaced battery 4+ times now because of this issue . This is a saftey hazard thankfully the times it shuts off on us isn’t on the freeway where it can cause a multi vehicle collision most recent incident was 04/02/2023
Service start stop warning light comes on then service traction control then all dash warning lights come on then you lose power steering This all happens in seconds
All lights on dash light up while driving or in park, no power steering, all displays flickering, can not move vehicle. While in park, can not engage shifter, if I turn off vehicle while it’s on the “fritz”, vehicle might not start for some time (15-40 minutes), this has been on going since 11/22, three visits to dealership, two at an independent shop. Dealership claimed the couldn’t replicate issue/“concern” Vehicle is simply not safe. I’ve recorded many videos documenting these safety/vehicle issues. It’s been nearly 6 months of trying to get a reputable diagnosis, repair and answers. I hope this isn’t a scam? I truly need help.
Displays, "Service Shifter". Often followed by many, mostly random warnings, gauges fluctuate wildly, and disabled stop/start, traction and stability control; and sometimes loses power steering, and stalls and won't restart. The stereo volume, wipers, and cabin fan speed also can fluctuate wildly; worst case. This issue first appeared after going through a puddle, and seems to be exacerbated by high EMF areas; this is only corollary. This vehicle has never been used roughly or off road. The obvious dangers are, spontaneous maniacal warnings are a significant distraction to driving; if stop/start is not disabled vehicle will not start after stop at intersection, causing disruption to traffic; if power steering randomly stops working, which occurs while stopped or driving, the vehicle is nearly impossible to drive, and can only practically be driven by a strongman athlete. The coup de grâce where everything goes berserk, is usually when parked and attempting to reset the condition. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or service center; I have spent days inspecting grounds, harnesses, and inspecting, cleaning and replacing connectors. There's also a long list of mostly random codes for nearly everything, including the persistent lost communication with TCM. Up to October 2022 and 66,000 miles the only warnings or codes were for, wheel sensor (rep under warrantee), and "Small Leak In Vapor Recovery System" (leaky gas cap). A month+ after the warrantee expired, at about 66,000 mi, the vehicle began to generate random warnings and codes, and became unbearable (and dangerous) to drive. My observations and inspections and limited testing (haven't probed system circuits directly) lead to an assertion that the problem is system wide; many wildly various, mostly non repeatable, codes are recorded, systems that shut down are wildly various and not always repeatable; like there's nothing specifically or consistently wrong-but everything is failing. 5V reg in TCM?
On multiple occasions I have been driving to work (45 min drive) when all of my dash lights and emergency lights go on. I am then notified on the dash of start /stop system failure(which is off), The emergency hand brake light is on, electric stability control failure, service antilock break system, auto park disabled and my radio volume going to max. This is then followed by my power steering or something locks up not allowing me to steer my car that is in motion! Once I stop I turn the car off and it won’t start again. I have waited 20 min and restart the car which then the shifter won’t let me put into drive! This has happened mulitple times and I have taken to my trusted mechanic to repair but was informed it is a recall on my vehicle…. When I look up my vin no recall reported so he gave me a form of the recall. Please help me, I’m honestly scared to drive my car because I don’t want this to happen while I’m on a highway or cause me to be in an accident. I shouldn’t be scared to drive my car.
Driving on highway at 75MPH, chime followed by all warning lights. Speedometer falls to zero and a series of system failures scrolls through on message board. While taking the exit ramp, power steering fails halfway through the loop. Speedometer returns to normal momentarily, then jumps back and forth until destination. Power steering does not return.
For several months the vehicle will randomly throw of multiple warnings while driving such as, service gaer shifter, may not be able to shift until your destination, traction control not working, abs not working, high speed fan randomly turns, windshield wipers randomly come on. Several times I even lost power steering while driving. This was very scary and unsafe as I had a very hard time turning off the main road into a parking to wait it out. Tool vehicle to dealer with no results. This is not a new issue. There are various on-line forums with many many people having the same issue and same results from dealers- Nothing. The manufacture has to be put on notice and figure this out and issue a recall to fix.
As I was driving, all my warning lights started going off. The dash said everything was unavailable (disconnect sway bar, traction control, shifter, etc). Power steering went out and the car was put into auto park while moving and the shifter wouldn’t work. Windows wouldn’t work, radio volume started changing, etc.
As I was driving, the ABS failed then multiple warning lights displayed and the power steering failed completely. Initially, I could not get the car to turn off.
2018 Jeep JLU Sahara 3.6 - Several weeks prior to January 2022 I noticed the Electronic Stop Start ESS feature was no longer working. There was also a message indicating the ESS was not working due to the battery charging. I took the Jeep to my mechanic (Not Jeep dealership mechanic) on January 14, 2022. The main battery voltage was checked and was above 12.7 volts. The auxiliary battery was checked and was approx 10.5 volts. I decided to replace the the auxiliary battery. Once replaced the ESS system started to work again and all electronic features returned to normal. Sometime in November 2022 the ESS stopped working. The ESS error message returned indicating the ESS was not working due to the battery charging. In late December 2022 the Jeep had a dead main (original) battery. The main battery was jumped and the vehicle started and ran normally for about a week. The voltage was checked several times using the voltage meter in the settings menu. Each time the voltage showed reading above 14 volts. One week after the first dead battery the battery went dead again. It was jumped again and started. The vehicle remained on and in park for one hour and was then driven. During the test drive I stopped the Jeep momentarily in the roadway to check the ignition. The Jeep did not start and could not be jumped. As a result of the battery failure my vehicle was blocking the roadway and could not be shifted out of park and into neutral. This was a dangerous situation. Later the voltage on both batteries was checked. The main batt voltage was 10.5 and the aux battery was 10.8 volts. This is a 2018 Jeep JLU. The first aux battery failed and was replaced in January 2022. The second aux battery has failed and will be replaced in January 2023 along with the main (original) battery. Three battery failures in one year is not acceptable.
Power steering and digital speedometer cut out without notice. Seems to be an electrical issue as it will throw a handful of lights at once and sometimes read "no bus". Has happened numerous times. Dealership replaced the aux battery. Did not resolve. Private dealerships are afraid to even touch it. Dealership I purchased it from "can't look at it until March" (5 months from now). There are reports of this all over forums and YouTube. Reached out to Chrysler directly and they basically just said "sorry your warranty is up".
When driving steering stops working transmission won’t shift wipers come on speedometer stops working radio gets loud engine cooling fan turns on fast and loud warning lights come on in dash abs, trac control, air bag, and service shifter. Have to restart vehicle and tap on small electrical connector behind the glove box to return to normal. Sometimes the vehicle won’t start or shift out of park. Problem is ongoing happens when idling sitting still or driving down the road
My jeeps backup camera randomly works. This is a huge safety issue. I’ve taken it to Jeep who said there were no recalls and made me pay close to $300 out of pocket to “update” my radio system. I am still having the issues and can’t afford to keep taking the vehicle back to troubleshoot further. This is a major safety issue as it’s not guaranteed my camera will work and if it does fail there is no telling when it will start working again. If you search forums you’ll see this issue being present with jeeps since 2016 to now. All different years. Please let me know what can be done or if additional info is needed.
I have had repeated issues attempting to start the vehicle and it will not turn over. This usually occurs after I have driven the vehicle for at least 45 min. All lights and components turn on but the engine will not turn over, no indication that the engine is engaging. I tried starting in neutral and it does not engage. Battery is new, terminals are clean and fit properly. Vehicle is grounded. Sometimes after a half hour or more it will start. This happens at least once a week. Taken to mechanic e times and cannot get it to repeat.
All warning lights on the dash lit up. All gauges (tach, speed, fuel) fell to zero while I was traveling at 55 mph. Engine stayed running. Power steering failed but would engage intermittently causing over steering when it caught. Found a safe place to get off the road and turned vehicle off for 1/2 hour. The vehicle ran fine afterward. Limped it to the dealer a day later and they diagnosed it as a "star connector" problem. They said they've seen it before. There's much discussion on the internet about it occurring with the 2018 Wranglers. Jeep said that the replacement connector is just the same as the one which failed so this could happen again if the connector is not improved. Loss of steering is life threatening especially when it goes on and off intermittently.
1. On numerous occasions my Jeep has suffered an electrical issue that renders the power steering, power brakes and other components in-operable. My dash goes blank, then restarts showing just about every system feature as needing serviced. The dealer has tried twice to fix it stating that a Star Connector has overheated and is the cause for the problem. This is a huge safety issue and I no longer feel I can trust it to not happen again. 2. The vehicle is impossible to drive without the power steering and brakes. The wipers stick on along with the electronic radiator fan. 3. Yes, The dealer has reproduced this and stated so on the repair invoice. Stating multiple codes in multiple modules for loss communication. 4. No, the vehicle or component has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. 5. No warning whatsoever! It has now happened for a fourth time and is back at the dealer.
Driving down the road wipers turned on and wouldn’t go off, all warning lights started flashing, jeep started to slow down, not accelerate, wanted to stall. Radio turned up on its own. Another occurrence I stopped at a stop sign and the jeep wouldn’t go, I tried to put it in park and it wouldn’t go into park, had to turn the jeep off and back on. Safety issues!! There should be a recall on jeeps for these issues I have read so many problems like this and it is NOT SAFE
Jeep JL shows various warnings about engine revs and sometimes loss of power steering while driving at all speeds. Sometimes the Jeep will not get out of park and this issue is intermittent. Have taken it to the dealership and they cannot find anything wrong. From reading forums it would appear there is a bad wiring harness that causes this but it is terrifying when it can happen randomly and then just goes away on its own like nothing happened. I have various videos of this happening while parked. This issue seems to affect many of the JLs and rubicons. It has been happening for about 3 weeks now. Jeep does not admit or see the issue and the error codes thrown would indicate literally everything is wrong with the jeep. Can provide videos of this parked but it can and does happen randomly while driving.
April 2022 - Driving down US 30 in Ohio had the electronic stability control warning light come on. Took to dealership and was advised that no codes were stored therefore no work could be done on the Jeep. Next time the ESC warning came on it also gave service gear shifter, stop/start not available along with loss of traction control. Was told it was the wiring harness getting moisture and had been replaced. Drove Jeep maybe 100 miles and same codes came on with loss of power steering at a speed of 70 mph on I-75. This time Jeep was in the shop for 45 days with no luck of pinpointing the issue. Was told by the dealership to continue to drive the Jeep until the warning lights trigger more often. Had to put Jeep In the ditch due to losing power steering. Now Jeep is not wanting to turn over and when it does start not able to get the Jeep to go into ANY gear. I can not believe I traded in my husband's Hyundai in for this paperweight as I do not feel safe driving it.
The vehicle intermittently fails to shift into gear when started. This also happens intermittently while driving (when stopped the engine turns off while the brake pedal is depressed. When the engine restarts to go forward it behaves as if it is in neutral and won't engage.) Additionally, on occasion, the instrument panel fails to function while in operation. There is a blog thread on this issue as experienced by others: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/service-shifter.24255/ ***Note, the date listed below is when we first began experiencing this issue. This is an ongoing issue which is experience 5 or more times per week. The vehicle has been in and out of the shop without resolution. The cost is out of pocket. The vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership shop considered "unsafe to operate" while we wait on a solution.
I have two issues to report. First issue was while driving on interstate the dash went completely out. Had no idea my speed, fuel level, navigation....nothing. I slowed down to get off the road. Stopped and turned off engine. Turned it back on and nothing. Then it just popped on. I was able to continue on my way. Then I started having the second issue. Second issue to report. The Uconnect display monitor touch screen system is delaminating and now it changes stations, systems (navigation, weather, etc) on its own. I checked the Jeep blogs and this is a consistent problem for the past 8 years. There is an adhesive problem that Jeep/Chrysler is well aware of. To stop this flickering of stations from happening, I have to drive with one hand and take my finger on the other hand keeping it constantly pressed against SXM button . Or turn off the radio. This is a 4 1/2 yr old jeep with 68,000 miles. Jeep will not do anything except replace it at retail cost. I am not alone with this issue. There are 100's of stories on the internet blogs. This should be a recall issue to protect the consumers from extremely poor quality from a company like Chrysler. They knew this was a quality issue jet continued producing a faulty product. They should be better than this and held accountable.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving the display screen went blank. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle lost power steering and was shaking. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery and sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle also failed to start. The vehicle was towed back to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Mileage: 61,000
Since May of this year I have been trying to get my vehicle diagnosed and repaired. Multiple warning lights and messages go off at various times. Vehicle loses power steering and speed detection at a minimum. I have been to 3 different dealers at 5 separate times. A STAR case was opened by Fiat/Chrysler but was closed despite lack of diagnosis by dealer and concerns that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I have spent thousands of dollars and communicated multiple times to Fiat with no resolution. I have noted on various forums people complaining of similar issues. The following warnings are noted at frequent intervals; ABS needs service, shift module needs service, do not shift, do not turn off power, traction control, battery warnings and many more. Every possible warning indicator is coding. At previous dealer visit to current, the dealer advised that they could not diagnose and told me to pick up the vehicle. I advised Fiat and they supported me getting my vehicle despite concerns that it was unsafe. All documented.
Several messages display simultaneously on and off as the vehicle is in motion which results in power being lost, then restored in a matter of minutes which are critical when traveling in traffic or on the interstate. Steering and brakes are the first to go, but the car remains operational. The gauges display as if the car is stationary with check engine, brake, start stop disabled, traction control and many other lights displaying in error as these things are happening.
The power steering went out while driving, check engine light came on, ABS Service, Service Shifter, Start/Stop unavailable, Service 4wd, Auto Park Disabled, Blind Spot Alert, Electronic Stability Control Service, Parking Sense Off. I could not shift out of Park. Many people are having this problem with their 2018 Wrangler JL and JLU and later models. All you have to do is Google this or go to YouTube to see. It may be a faulty ECU. In any case, this is a problem and a safety hazard.
When driving, vehicle will start throwing codes and lights, losing power steering and at times after this happens will not shift out of park. Also after this happens sometimes it will not start or shut off.
My Jeep has been having electrical problems many warnings across the dash including lost communication with ABS module this has been going on for about a month sometimes the fault won’t let the Jeep go into gear I brought it to the local dealership they had it for the entire day and was told they can’t find anything and that it would actually have to be happening for them to figure it out yesterday I was driving with my kids in the Jeep and the electrical want crazy and then I lost total steering while doing 55 miles per hour After my heart went through my chest I was able to get the vehicle stopped so according to my Jeep dealer I need to be in a near death crash in order for them to figure out the problem I wonder if any unexplained deaths involving newer Jeep Wrangler could be attributed to these electrical issues
The electronic dash unit (Stereo) that controls Navigation, climate, media and all other consumer input, changes the screen without touching it. The 8.4 unit is the main point of contact for a driver with the vehicle. The navigation blinks and switches areas with no touch on the screen. The dangers of the distraction is obvious to me. If they can’t make a decent unit for their expensive vehicles, maybe they should leave it out or just stop making vehicles. It’s obvious they have zero concern for customers’ safety. This is a known issue to Jeep, Chrysler, Stellantis or whatever the carmaker-du jour is!! It’s sickening what a company can get away with in this country.
In the middle of the intersection, the power steering turned off and the steering wheel locked. I could not move the steering. All dashboard lights came on as well as the emergency brakes. The gear shift also locked and refused to shift into any toner gear. The vehicle was completely disabled and would not restart. This is the 5 time this has happened. I took it to get serviced at my local jeep Chrysler dodge dealership and I am still receiving the same issue.
When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the Auto Shut Off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire jeep system.
Service shifter comes on and can’t go into. While driving it’ll notify again and lock my steering making every hard to turn. Having to wait 10-30 mins just for to reset and get into gear then coming back on days later.
All electrical system failure. Loss of ABS, power steering, cruise control, transmission shifting, traction control, auto start, sway bar disconnect. Fan overruns. All dash warning lights come on. Electrical system will return to normal after several restarts and then randomly fail again.
The U-Connect screen is de-laminating. It is also disconnecting the Bluetooth connections for the phone and directions, changing input selections and volume randomly. This is causing me to have to use my phone and try to reconnect or look at the screen to see what's going on. This is causing me to be distracted while driving and also having to stop several times causing delays to deal with the screen not working properly.
Electrical system failure. All indicator lights come on and all safety feature warning lights activate. Automobile loses power and power steering stops working. Automobile then veered right into traffic other lanes of traffic on freeway. The problem has been confirmed by Ken Ganley Chrysler. The vehicle was inspected by Ken Ganley Automotive. Has been taken to the repair shop 4 times. Same problem continues to happen. Several warning lights came on all at once and vehicle lost power steering causing vehicle to veer right abruptly. Problem first occurred at the beginning of April 2022.
This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.
The jeep will automatically go into park will lock the shifter in park every light on dash will come on You will also lose power steering it will say service shifter service stability control ABS light comes on check engine light comes on error lights will come on and you can no longer move the jeep until you cut it on and off multiple times before it fixes itself have took it to a local jeep dealer and they claim nothing is wrong but you can clearly see all the lights on the dash no power steering and you cannot shift it out of park this happened to us going to get dinner and we were stuck for about two hours before the jeep decided it was ready to go again That was the first time that it had happened Now it will do it daily but we have to drive it because we need means of transportation back-and-forth to work can you please report this as a major issue thank you
vehicle dash goes crazy. all warning lights come on. gauges act erratic. shifter lights blink. service abs, service traction control, service shift warnings flash. fans act erratic. power steering cuts out. when in park vehicle won't shift out of park. sometimes this happens when vehicle is first started. it is now happening while driving. this is a major safety concern since the power steering goes out while driving. i have had this vehicle to the dealership 3 times for this and they keep telling me they can't recreate the problem. when put on the scanner numerous codes come up.
At 40,000 miles the Service shifter warning light came on and a barrage of other lights flashed across the dash. Check engine light comes on and all of a sudden I lose all power steering and almost run off the road. The steering only comes back after shutting engine off and restarting it. It is a continuous problem with no warning as to when it will occur. I have it scheduled to go into shop on Thursday for the diagnosis. Either way it is extremely dangerous!
1) Compromised Battery (a battery purchased in August of 2021 from Interstate Battery|Camp Bowie Blvd|FortWorthTx) 2) Moritz Service Team explained some batteries (via the 3 manufacturers) can have a fail rate or be bad batteries 3) Moritz could not replicate extent of the issues we experienced with a collapsed electrical system on 02.24.2022. 4) Moritz could not explain why the 3rd party purchased battery was “discharged” completely after driving the Jeep and stopping for a short period resulting in the collapse of electrical system. 5) Moritz Team and GM had no explanation for the replacement of 3 batteries for this Jeep in a short period of < 3 years. 6) Moritz Team and GM suggested they have no knowledge of this Jeep product having these type of electrical issues. (See link: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/JEEP/WRANGLER/SUV/4WD%252520Later%252520Release#safety-ratings-frontal) 7) Moritz Service Team and GM recommended returning the battery to its place of purchase for a warranty trade in. 8) Moritz Service Team and GM proposed if a repeat of this event occurs that: A) Moritz Service Team provide a more expansed evaluation of this issue (requiring our solo mode of transportation to be in the shop for an extended period) B) Should Moritz Service Team be unable to identify and replicate issue: a STAR report be submitted to escalate issue to next level engineers for Moritz. As an update: We delivered the Jeep with the 3rd party purchased battery back to Interstate Battery as recommended (following our meeting). Multiple tests were performed and noted that the 12V 48 AGM 60 G-48 (SLI48AGMDP) battery registered each time above 775. ISSUE UNRESOLVED: The issue remains how a fully charged battery (with no effect of user error), driven appropriately, resulted in a full electrical collapse of this Jeep Wrangler Unltd. Rubicon JL system within 30 minutes of the ignition beiNG turned off and attempted restart. MFG 10.2018
When you put the car in reverse the screen turns blue. Many drivers of this same vehicle has said they all experience a blue screen of death. I took it to a body shop today and they said it’s because of faulty wiring during manufacturing. A lot of jeep drivers are experiencing this same issue. Jeep dealers do not know what to do. Please issue a recall before someone gets hurt reversing their car.
I have had the rear defroster tab re soldered twice and the rear glass completely replaced. The second time the tab was resoldered 2/11/22, the next time I started the vehicle to warm up, the rear defroster was on and the entire rear window shattered
When driving, at random times my dash lights all come on and the following components say that they're unavailable: ABS Electronic Stability Control Sway Bar Disconnect Stop/Start Blind Spot Alert I will then lose my power steering. My speedometer, RPM, and fuel gauges will drop to 0. This has happened both when driving around the neighborhood and while driving on the highway. I have been to two different dealers three different times and they have been able to reproduce and confirm the issue. But they have been unable to fix the problem. Researching the issue myself, I have found several examples of other owners having this same problem. Examples can be found on carcomplaints.com and jlwranglerforums.com. I don't know how many other cars must have this issue before action is taken by the manufacturer, but I consider the loss of power steering and the airbag system a significant safety issue. My vehicle is available for inspection at any time.
Just took my 2018 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited JL in for the improved steering feel recall. The jeep was working just fine until after the software update just miles after update lost all power and shut off and wouldn't restart. I couldn't even get it to turn over enough to put it in neutral to put it on a tow truck. Finally got it restarted, back to the dealer and was told fuel pump was out. Service Bulletin #S1808000167, FCA discusses the reasons that the vehicle won’t start or there is lost contact with the fuel pump control module.
Multiple occurances of steering locking up(power steering failure?)all on cold mornings, turning left and around 35-40 mph 12/21/21: While driving down a straight 2 lane rd prior to dawn, I lightly steered my vehicle right to move from center of rd to right hand side. When I attempted to steer back left to correct the vehicle straight, I was unable to move the steering wheel at all to the left resulting in me driving into a mailbox & damaged both vehicle & mailbox. Vehicle drove home fine w/out further steering issue and problem couldn't be replicated. 1/11/22: Another cold morning(appr 32 degrees), warmed car up for 15 mins(to take kids to school). Came to a 30 degree left turn & again noticed the same issue of steering locked up and unable to turn left into curve until I used both hands/arms to apply a significant amount of physical force(again barely missing a mailbox). Then I couldn't correct back to the right w/out applying same force so ended up in oncoming lane of traffic. Thankfully there was not an oncoming vehicle since I had 2 kids in the car & could've had a head on collision. Steering started working again before vehicle even came to a stop. 1/27/21: Cold morning again, warmed car up as usual, & had the same steering failure on same left hand curve as on 1/11 but this time steering ability returned quickly and safely made through the turn. Oncoming vehicle but steering returned quickly enough to avoid issues. I've since learned that FCA has a new 'campaign' out for the steering assist categorized as a 'non-safety related' repair. I'm uncertain if the 'software update' will address my steering issue as the factors outlined in it are not the same as my circumstance & correspond with a different issue being reported with the steering.?
My Jeep experienced sever wobbling, as if the front wheels were coming off. So, I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the "death wobble." When I took it to the Autonation Jeep Dealership, South, Columbus GA. I was told that they had a recall on that 2 years and 3 months ago, and since the 2 year warranty expired, there was nothing they could do about it. If a recall doesn't work, then isn't the dealership still required to fix a manufacturer defect? My Jeep had an additional recall, which the dealership performed last week, and the dealership thought this new recall (computer update) might fix the death wobble problem. When I picked up my Jeep last week after this second recall, my heat and A/C no longer worked--all controls on the Jeep no longer worked. The dealership said they just followed the procedure in the recall, and since the recall resulted in the loss of my heat, A/C and defrosting, that I needed to deal with Jeep USA. I have submitted my case to Customer Care (FCA US, LLC) at Jeep USA, and they are telling me they might be able to ship a part in 6 weeks. My car has no heater. No accountability. I need to be compensated for the damages they have caused to my Jeep! Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Vehicle failed to restart at the rest area with 18,000 miles on it. I called the service truck and made a report to the dealer the vehicle started within 15 minutes of setting . Went to dealership and had the Jeep checked out. They could not find any thing that was wrong. We were told it had to be malfunctioning to find the problem. Today we were at a grocery store stopped came back in the vehicle would not start. After about 15 minutes vehicle started, while leaving the parking lot the Jeep made a bucking hesitating movement. I Called the dealer they said the Vin number was not on recall. The 2018 jk Jeep has 22,000 miles on it. Found this U 87 recall on the powertrain Control module. Thank you
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the garage for 10 days. The contact stated that as he opened the garage door, he saw smoke. The contact looked around but he could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that he opened the hood of the vehicle and noticed that the fuse box and the fuse wires had burned. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was not filed. The independent mechanic arrived at the contact's residence and diagnosed that the fuse box and the fuse wires had burned. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent an investigator who diagnosed the vehicle. The manufacturer sent a letter to the contact stating that based on the investigator report, no issues were found and the failure was not a manufacturer defect. The dealer informed the contact that the fuse box and fuse wires needed to be replaced and he would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,100.
Mileage: 1,100
Initial problem was the auto restart stopped working when the vehicle came to a complete stop. Then noted a couple of months later the dash board electronics started displaying random screens and warning lights. Finally the car refused to start and shift out of park and the display unit showed milage at 999999 and no indication as to the problem with vehicle. All alarm lights were also on in dash display. Towed to dealer and they said they had to replace 2 batteries.
Random intervals the jeep dash complety shuts down and loses all power steering and ABS and stability control functions. Ran codes and says its losing connection the the tcm. Abs module fails to relieve signal from can bus c
In July 2021 our 19 year old daughter was driving our 2018 Rubicon on a trip 2 hours or so from home when all of the dash warning lights came on speedometer was lost . Panicked she asked us what to do? We told her to take it to the closest Jeep dealership (Ladd-Hanford DCJR) to see if the vehicle was safe to drive. She was told it just needed an oil change and it was safe to drive. About 10 days later my wife was driving the vehicle and the same thing happened. The vehicle was taken to our local dealer where they tried to diagnose, unable to duplicate the problem it was returned to us. We returned about 10 days later same lights coming on, this time power steering was lost. Dealership worked with Chrysler engineering and determined that the ABS module needed replaced. Work completed and Jeep was picked up. About 10 days later dash warning lights on, speedometer display out, power steering lost, back to dealership. Unable to look at at that time appointment made and returned. It is now September 30th we have cases opened with Chrysler and Mopar Warrantee. Vehicle is still at the dealership, diagnosis is now a $2000.00 chaffed wiring harness just outside the fuse box not covered by anybody. No guarantee that this will fix it. Neither will put anything in writing. I have tried to be patient, we need our vehicle. I do not feel that my family or others are safe when it pertains to this vehicle. I don't want it to be involved in an accident that could cause serious injury or death.
Stop/Start feature began intermittently working only in March of 2020. Stopped working completely in May. On July 31, 2020 it began functioning. Never worked again after that day. In March 2021 I had the vehicle serviced and advised the dealership it was not functioning. No tests were run and was advised I needed to drive the vehicle more to keep the auxiliary battery charged. On September 12, 2021, vehicle would not start after driving it most of the day. Had to jump start to get running. Would not start the next morning. On 9/13/21, jump started and driven to dealership. R/O Number 6085781/1. Installed BBAUX101AB battery due to Start/Stop battery failed. Stop/Start was not functioning upon leaving dealership. Did not function until 9/19/21 at 8:50am at an intersection. Disengaged the function by pressing the button on the dash. Vehicle shut down, displayed push brake to start. Vehicle put in park. Would not start. Had to use pull cord under gear shift to get in neutral and push out of roadway. Jump started to drive. Vehicle displayed "Stop Safely, vehicle will shut off soon." while driving down the street. Upon arrival, put in reverse to enter driveway, vehicle stopped reversing, felt like it was in neutral, vehicle engine began racing, instrument panel began flashing warnings, had to forcefully hold the brake, would not shift in to park or drive. All gear lights lit up on gearshift. Was afraid the vehicle was going to accelerate and crash. Passengers immediately abandoned the vehicle. Pushed to the start button and vehicle finally shut down. Warning flashing were: Service Electronic Stability Control, Service Power Steering, Service Airbag System, Service 4WD, Service Antilock Brake System, Passenger Airbag On (with no passenger). Instrument needles began moving up and down and would not stop. Opened door and needles ticked, blank screen and a ding. Did this for over an hour before all stopped. Vehicle completely dead. Will not jumpstart.
My Jeep Stalled on me in the middle of the street at Night. All of the lights dimmed out including my Emergency lights, I couldn’t put into Neutral or turn it on I had to get it towed Home. Both batteries replaced it turns on but stalls. Could be the alternator?
My 2018 wrangler accelerates when not on the gas pedal, and both the engine light and electronic throttle light comes on. My Jeep has been to the dealer 4 times for this issue and it still goes unfixed. It has been to an independent service center once, and they diagnosed the PCM (powertrain control module) as failing. This issue is very dangerous for myself and anyone else on the road as my jeep will accelerate at random.
I was in my car at a gas station and the car had shut down with ABS light, check engine light. The car would not start up with push to start. The shifter also was locked into place when the car eventually ended up starting. 5 mins later the car finally started up and all the of the warning lights/messages went away. I received an oil change + inspection from a dealership and nothing was found. This same problem happened again in a parking lot, (ABS, check engine, car not turning on) and I took my car to the dealership for service. They performed an inspection and I was told the ABS module needed to be replaced. About a week later I picked up my car from the dealership after they told me they fixed the issue and my car was good to go. THE SAME DAY, I had the same problem except this time it was significantly worse and extremely dangerous for myself and others. This time, WHILE driving my "serviced" vehicle, the ABS light, check engine light came on, dashboard stopped working, and the steering wheel also had locked while DRIVING and I was unable to turn. I was extremely terrified and I immediately pulled the car over. After multiple attempts to start the car (same issue as before: car would not start, ABS/check engine light) I promptly took the vehicle to the dealership again. The dealership is charging me again for another inspection, hours after their service? It seems that they are using this as an opportunity to make money, rather than actually fix the issue with the vehicle. This should not be about money, this is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. The service the dealership has provided not only endangered my life, but the lives of others around me. I am extremely fortunate that this did not happen on the freeway. The dealer did not fix the problem, and in fact made the car dangerous with some of these new issues, the steering wheel locking up and the disabled dashboard. The part they replaced did not fix my car and put me, as well as others in a DANGEROUS situation.
My Jeeps steering wheel locked up while driving. It felt like the power steering lost all power. Also, multiple warning lights started to display and the speedometer stopped working.
UCONNECT INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREQUENT FREEZES AND REBOOTS, AND THIS AFFECTS THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY. SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA GUIDELINES DISAPPEAR, SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY SHOWS A BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T TURN ON WHEN SHIFTING TO REVERSE, AND SOMETIMES THE UNIT REBOOTS ITSELF OR FREEZES. THE REBOOTS AND FREEZES HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION AND ARE VERY DISTRACTING.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 71MPH, HIT A BUMP VEHICLE STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. SLOWING DOWN DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP. VERY SCARY FEELING. BOTH BATTERIES DIED OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 39,000, FIRST THE MAIN BATTERY, THEN THE AUXILIARY BATTERY. NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX WHEN THE VEHICLE IS POWERED ON OR NOT. CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, OR FIRST TAKE OFF. (DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL (YEAH RIGHT)) PASSENGER VISOR BROKEN. HARDTOP LEAKING IN CENTER FRONT, CAUSING THE REARVIEW MIRROR TO RUIN. (HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES. AIR CONDITIONING WHEN DRIVING A LONG DISTANCE WILL SOMETIMES BLOW OUT HOT AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. COOLANT DRAINED DYE PUT IN TO DETECT LEAKS, NO LEAKS. STILL HAPPENING FLOORBOARDS GET EXTREMELY HOT AT TIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE HEATER IS ON.

PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING LIGHT AND SIDE LIGHT STOPPED WORKING. CHANGED THE BULB AND DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. ALSO FOUND THE BACK RUNNING LIGHT TO WORK SO KNOW IT IS NOT A FUSE. APPEARS TO BE FAULY WIRING OR A BAD GROUND. HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD WITH THIS VEHICLE AND ONLY 42K MILES.
Mileage: 42,000
THE VEHICLE DISPLAY AND BACK UP CAMERA WILL FREEZE AND NOT BE USABLE OFTEN. IT WILL FREEZE AND NOT ALLOW ME TO SEE MY BACK UP CAMERA. IT WILL ALSO FREEZE AND NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN THE RADIO DOWN OR CHANGE A CHANNEL. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE IT IS STATIONARY.

HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO JEEP T CORRECT ISSUE. BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T ALWAYS FUNCTION. THE SCREEN IS BLACK WHEN REVERSING AND SOMETIMES THE SCREEN WORKS BUT WITHOUT GUIDING LINES. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE AND THEY HAVE SAID THEY CORRECTED IT BY RESETTING SOFTWARE OR WHATEVER BUT ISSUE ALWAYS COMES BACK. I AM WRITING TO YOU THIS TIME BECAUSE AN INCIDENT THAT JUST OCCURRED TODAY PUT ME OVER THE EDGE. THE SCREEN WAS BLACK WHILE REVERSING AND SINCE MY KEEP HAS A MOLAR LIFT KIT WITH 37 INCH TIMES I'M A BIT HIGH. I DIDN'T NOT SEE OR REALIZE THAT SOMEONE STANDING BEHIND ME AND I ACCIDENTALLY BACKED INTO THEM. MORE OF A BUMP BUT NONE THE LESS A SCARY SITUATION. SOMEONE COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT. NOTHING HAPPENED BUT I AM CONCERNED NOW. I'M ALSO IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND I SEE ACCIDENT ALL THE TIME. I HOPE THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER CORRECTS THIS ISSUE BEFORE A TRAGEDY HAPPENS. BACK UP CAMERAS ARE FEDERALLY MANDATED. SO THEY SHOULD ALSO BE MANDATED TO WORK EFFECTIVELY. ESPECIALLY AFTER THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT IT. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2018 AND FROM THE BEGINNING OF MY PURCHASE I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND BROUGHT IT TO THEM TO CORRECT WHICH THEY HAVE TRIED BUT APPARENTLY FAILED. I CANNOT PUT A DATE ON THE BOTTOM AND CORRECTLY SHOWS A TIME FRAME BUT KNOW THAT IS HAS BEEN SINCE OCTOBER OF 2018.
THE JEEP STARTS TO SHAKE WHILE DRIVING AND IT IS HARD TO HOLD ONTO STEERING WHEEL. FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE NO CONTROL. THE MILEAGE ODOMETER GOES FROM 999,999 BACK TO CORRECT ONE. IT IS A BRAND NEW 2018. CAN'T GET THE STEERING PART BECAUSE IT IS ON BACK ORDER. WE DIDN'T EVEN GET A NOTICE ABOUT RECALL. I AM SO BLESSED MY DAUGHTER HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT GOING TO AND FROM COLLEGE

WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION WILL DISABLE AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASH POPS UP THAT SAYS 'STOP/START UNAVAILABLE. SERVICE START/STOP' AND A YELLOW A WITH AN ARROW AROUND IT WILL LIGHT UP ON THE DASH. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY BUT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, MY JEEP SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE SERVICE MESSAGE AS PREVIOUSLY STATED APPEARED, ALONG WITH THE YELLOW A AND ARROW. I HAD TO PUT MY JEEP INTO PARK AND RESTART MY ENGINE. THE SYSTEM MESSAGE AND A CONTINUED TO DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY ONE TIME, HOW EVER THAT STILL IS A SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR ROUGHLY TWO WEEKS TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG.

I KEEP HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT AWAY SO TODAY 30JAN2021 I CHECKED MY SYSTEM WITH A OBD SCANNER AND IT POPPED UP THE CODE U0140 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE.
WE TRIED TO START THE JEEP AT OUR HOME (STREET) AND IT WOULD NOT START. BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED FLICKERING. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, WE DECIDED TO HAVE THE BATTERY CHECKED. THE BATTERY WAS USED FOR 34 MONTHS OF DRIVING. INTERSTATE BATTERY TESTED IT AND IT WAS LOW. WE DECIDED TO BUY A NEW ONE AND INSTALLED IT. NOW THE JEEP STARTS BUT THERE IS A SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT AND THE GEAR SHIFTER DOES NOT LIGHT UP. WE CANNOT PUT IT INTO GEAR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENT JEEP FORUMS. SOME DEALERS CANNOT SOLVE THE ISSUE, WHILE OTHER FIND THAT DIFFERENT HARNESSES ARE THE PROBLEM. OUR VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD INITIATE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM FOR ITS CUSTOMERS.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE, WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING, SOMETIMES THE PARKING ASSIST GRID LINES DO NOT SHOW UP AT ALL ON THE SCREEN THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU WHEN YOU ARE BACKING THE VEHICLE UP. THE GRID LINES LET YOU KNOW HOW FAR TO KEEP BACKING UP, IF YOU ARE GOING STRAIGHT OR AT AN ANGLE, LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP BACKING UP, ETC. THIS MEANS YOU ARE NOT EXACTLY SURE WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP & SOMETIMES YOU HIT THE CURB BEHIND YOU WITH YOUR WHEELS OR IN MY CASE, I HIT OUR BACKYARD FENCE. I ALSO COULDN'T TELL THAT I WAS AS CLOSE TO A PARKED CAR AS I WAS OR THAT I DID NOT PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE STRAIGHT. I'VE EMAILED JEEP SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS & JOINED SEVERAL ONLINE BLOG GROUPS & JEEP KEEPS TELLING US JEEP OWNERS THEY WILL BE PUTTING OUT A UCONNECT UPGRADE WHICH SHOULD FIX IT BUT WE'VE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 YEARS NOW & NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.

I HAVE A PUSH TO START 2018 JEEP. THE OTHER DAY MY CAR WOULDN'T START, BATTERY DIED ON IT. IT WAS FIXED BUT THEN THE AC/HEAT UNIT WON'T TURN ON AT ALL. WHILE LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS I SAW THIS ISSUE WAS VERY COMMON IN 2018+ MODELS AND WAS WONDERING WHY THERE ISN'T RECALL ON THIS IF IT'S A ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITHIN THE VEHICLE.

I WAS GOING AROUND THE CORNER AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP MAKING IT TO WHERE I HAD TO PULL HARD THE OTHER WAY JUST TO UNLOCK IT. AND WHEN I FIRST GOT THIS VEHICLE THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERED WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF OWNING THIS JEEP. AND NOW THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKING UP AND ALSO MY CONTROLS ARE NOT WORKING ON MY STEERING WHEEL AND THE COLUMN IN THE MIDDLE AC HEATER HEATER ALL THE CONTROLS.

WHILE DRIVING, THE BATTERY VOLTAGE LIGHT CAME ON. WE MONITORED THE VOLTAGE AND NOTED THAT IT WAS DROPPING QUICKLY FROM AROUND 11.7 TO A LOW POINT OF ABOUT 8.9. WHEN THE VOLTAGE GOT THAT LOW, MANY DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED, ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET GOING UNDER 20 MPH. IT WAS IMMEDIATELY AFTER A TURN. CAUSE OF ISSUE IS UNKNOWN. THE DAY BEFORE, THE BATTERY VOLTAGE WARNING LIGHT HAD COME ON. I DID SOME BASIC DIAGNOSTICS AND DID NOT LOCATE AN ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS OR BATTERY ITSELF.

THE WIRING GOING TO THE STEERING COLUMN KEEPS SHORTING OUT MAKING IT SO THE HORN, STEERING WHEEL ELECTRICAL BUTTONS AND LIKELY AIRBAG STOP WORKING. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THE CLOCK SPRING. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE PURCHASED WITH 12000 MILES AND REPLACED TWICE. AT 22000 MILES THE DEALER CANNOT KEEP IT FUNCTIONAL. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE LACK OF FUNCTIONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH. THIS ALSO LEADS TO LOSS OF VALUE IF THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION.

THE 2018 JEEP WRANGLER BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS IN OCT OF 2019 WITH A RACING ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES, MAY OF 2020 THE CAR HAD SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 5 DAYS. IN JUNE THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED AND IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 6 DAYS. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US THE DEALERSHIP SAID NOT TO DRIVE IT VERY FAR. ON JULY 23RD. THE CAR WENT ROGUE IN REVERSE AT 60 MILES AN HOUR BACKWARDS. NO PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR, IT JUST TOOK OFF, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK. IT WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE IF THE PRIMARY BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED THE SECOND BATTERY WOULD STILL PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE SECONDARY BATTERY SHORT CIRCUITED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NAPLETON CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1460 E OSCEOLA PKWY, KISSIMMEE, FL 34744, 407-288-8243) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE DEALER AT A COST OF $800 FOR BOTH BATTERIES OR COULD BE PURCHASED AT THE LOCAL PARTS STORE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

ON MARCH 16TH DROVE TO WORK AND PARKED CAR. LEFT WORK AND GOT INTO CAR IN PARKING LOT. UPON TRYING TO START THE CAR WE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WELL AS LOSS OF POWER STEERING, TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL, ENGINE START/STOP FAILURE, PUSH START UNRESPONSIVE. CAR FINALLY STARTED ALTHOUGH MULTIPLE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. DROVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO FCA DEALER CLOSEST TO HOME AND EXPLAINED ISSUES TO SERVICE ADVISOR TYLER PENNINGTON. DEALER HAD CAR IN SERVICE FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS UNTIL TODAY 4/3/2020. PICKED UP FROM SERVICE MANAGER AL BEGIL. MR. BEGIL EXPLAINED THAT THEY NEVER COULD PHYSICALLY FIND THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUES DESPITE GOING THROUGH MANY WIRING HARNESSES, MODULES, FUSE BOXES, ETC. COMMUNICATED WITH FCA ENGINEERING MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE THREE WEEKS. SEEMS LIKE IT WAS ENGINEERING ADVISED DEALER TO TRY SOMETHING AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK TRY LET ENGINEERING KNOW AND THEN THEY WOULD TRY SOMETHING ELSE. OUR SERVICE ADVISER SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE AROUND TOWN SLOWLY FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN CASE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AGAIN. DON'T GO ON HIGHWAY. PAPERWORK FROM DEALER DOESN'T SHOW ANY CORRECTION FOR CONCERN. CALLED FCA CUSTOMER SUPPORT UPON ARRIVING HOME. CUSTOMER SUPPORT ADVISED THAT MY ISSUES NEEDED TO BE "ESCALATED" AND THAT SOMEONE WOULD REACH OUT TO ME ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY. I NOW GO THROUGH WEEKEND WITHOUT VEHICLE HAVING TO GO TO WORK EVERY DAY. FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THEY CAN'T OFFER A LOANER BECAUSE WE GOT CAR FROM DEALER. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALER. NOT MUCH BETTER FROM FCA SINCE I WON'T HEAR BACK FOR AT LEAST 3-4 DAYS. HAVE NOTES OF CONVERSATION WITH SERVICE MANAGER THAT SCARED MY WIFE AND I TO DEATH. JUST TOO MUCH TO WRITE HERE.

THE VEHICLE DOES NOT CRANK AND HAVE TO WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES FOR IT TO START.IT HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN A WEEK. THERE ARE LOTS OF TRENDS ONLINE WITH OTHER JEEP WRANGLER OWNER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NO DIAGNOSTIC ERROR WHEN USING OBD SCANNER.
WELD QUALITY ON FRAME ARE VERY QUESTIONABLE. WHEN MY JEEP TWISTS WHILE OFF-ROADING, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO TEAR ITSELF APART AND THE DOORS DONT WANT TO SHUT CLOSE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FULLY FLEXED. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO THE NEWER 2019+ MODELS WITH OBVIOUS BETTER WELDS ON FRAME. IT GETS ANNOYING WITH ALL THE CRUNCHING NOISE THE BODY MAKES WHEN I DRIVE ON UNEVEN ROADS. AGAIN, NOT SEEN ON NEWER MODELS. ALSO, THE STEERING STABILIZER WAS REPLACED AND STILL MY STEERING WHEEL START SHAKING WHEN I DRIVE ON UNEVEN ROADS. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT THE RADIO AND IT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND VOLUME FREEZING.

MY 2018 JEEP JL HAS HAD NON STOP ISSUES WITH THE "DEATH WOBBLE" SO MUCH THAT I HAVE HAD TO PARK THIS VEHICLE AND NOT DRIVE IT . IT HAS BEEN IN THREE TIMES FOR REPAIRS , EACH TIME PROMISED A FIX WOULD OCCUR. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE BETWEEN WORK AND HOME, AND I HIT A REGULAR UNEVEN PAVEMENT ONE WOULD DRIVE OVER EVERYDAY , AND THE VEHICLE RESONATED SO MUCH THAT IT PUSHED ME INTO THE LEFT LANE.. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS THERE BUT DECIDED TO PARK THE VEHICLE TILL THE NEXT SCHEDULED FIX ON 11/18. AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK THE INSTABILITY IS STILL THERE AND RESONATES WHEN GOING OVER ANY UNEVENNESS IN ROADS. I HAVE CREATED A CASE WITH JEEP WAIVE (CASE NUMBER 68188061) AND CALLED JIM COGDILL DODGE DEALERSHIP IN KNOXVILLE TN WHOM HAS REPAIRED THE FRONT END THE LAST THREE TIMES . I WAS TOLD ON 11/22 THAT THE DEALERSHIP JUST GOT NOTICE BY A OFFICIAL CHRYSLER NOTIFICATION THAT THE RECALL FIX FOR THE DEATH WOBBLE IS NOT FIXING THE INSTABILITY IN THE FRONT END ,AND IN SOME CASES MAKING IT WORSE. THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO STOP FIXING THE CARS UNTIL A NEW PART/FIX IS RELEASED BY CHRYSLER. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE, PURCHASE NEW JUST LAST YEAR AND HAVE LOST ALL TRUST IN THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR. I AM LOOKING FOR HELP TO SOLUTION AND HELP OTHERS WHOM ARE IN MY SAME SITUATION. ADDITIONALLY, MY VEHICLE COMPUTER HAS MESSED UP AND IS SHOWING ALMOST 1 MILLION MILES (999,999) . THIS COMPLAINT IS ALSO PART OF MY CASE AS I CANNOT SALE MY VEHICLE, OR BE LEGAL WITH THE ODOMETER IN CURRENT STATUS.

TEMP GOES UP AND DOWN, SPEEDOMETER GOES CRAZY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RE-STARTED, IT USUALLY STARTS AS NORMAL. MOST OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN WHEN SLOWING DOWN (IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU, APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT). THE JEEP HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES. THIS SERVICE SHIFTER LATE FIRST CAME ON JUNE 23 AND IT OCCURRED FOUR TIMES THAT DAY.FIRST THEY REPAIRED THE POWER STEERING. MY JEEP RUBICON JL FLOATS OR DRIFTS AS I AM DRIVING IT. IT MAKES FOR A HARD DRIVE ON LONG DRIVES AND I MUST LOOK LIKE I AM DRIVING DRUNK TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. IT IS EVEN WORSE IN WIND AND IT'S WINDY A LOT WHERE I LIVE. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AT FIRST. I DO NOT LIKE IT OR FEEL IT IS SAFE AT ALL. HAVING NEVER OWNED A JEEP I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME OR THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE WORN DOWN A BIT. THE PROBLEM REMAINS. WHILE LISTENING TO FM/AM STATIONS THE VOLUME IS WACKY GOING LOW AND HIGH MAKING FOR LOUSY LISTENING. WHEN THE AC COMES ON ON THE HIGHER SETTING MY JEEP SOUNDS LIKE I AM GETTING READY FOR LIFT OFF. VERY LOUD. ONE LEVER ON MY SEAT NEAR THE HEADREST THAT CONTROLS THE ABILITY FOR A PASSENGER TO GET IN MY TWO DOOR ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BECAME DETACHED AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY BACK SEAT IN A LOT SO IT DOESN'T GET USED A LOT. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC AND IT DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY. TODAY I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND MY JEEP SURGED FORWARD FASTER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE AND IT OFTEN SHIFTS POORLY FROM PARK INTO DRIVE AND REVERSE. THE SENSOR OR HEATER ELECTRIC WIRE ON THE INSIDE OF THE TAILGATE WINDOW DETACHED.

THE FRAMES WELDS HAVE POROSITY, LACK OF PENETRATION, SPLATTER, TOO MUCH SILICA. ALSO THE PAINT AROUND THE WELDS ARE CHIPPING, EXPOSING THE METAL. THERE IS RUST STARTING TO FORM INSIDE THE FRAME RAILS. I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER DRIVEN NEAR SALT AND ONLY HAS LESS THAN 8000 MILES. ALSO. RARELY, THE RADIO TURNS ON BY ITSELF WHILE THE CAR IS OFF.
THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT START. AFTER DRIVING AROUND TOWN FOR ERRANDS OVER THE COURSE OF 3-7 DAYS, IT SUDDENLY WON'T START. IT WILL EVENTUALLY START AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 25-40 MINUTES. THIS BEGAN A FEW DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN APRIL 2019 AND HAS CONTINUED SINCE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW, (AFTER FINALLY NEGOTIATING A PAID RENTAL FROM THEM) BUT THEY ARE NOT DRIVING IT ENOUGH TO RECREATE THE TRIGGER IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE AND FIX IT. ANOTHER COWORKER'S GIRLFRIEND PURCHASED A 2018 RUBICON WITH ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS, STARTING ISSUES, AND RADIO NOT WORKING. MY VEHICLE HISTORY: REAR DEFROSTER SENSOR ON BACK WINDOW DOES NOT STAY SECURED. 4TH RETURN TO DEALER. SECOND WINDOW TO BE REPLACED. PANEL LIGHT FOR REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CONTINUES TO LIGHT, BUT SENSOR IS NOT CONNECTED. HAVE BEEN ON WAIT LIST SINCE MARCH 2019 FOR NEW WINDOW TO ARRIVE. IT APPEARS THE SENSOR CORD IS TOO SHORT TO REACH WINDOW WHEN RAISING. DEATH WOBBLE HAS HAPPENED 3X WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 3X FOR THIS ISSUE. VEHICLE DOES NOT CORRECT ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AND IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS COMING APART. HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SLOWING DOWN DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, UNTIL I REACHED A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. ONCE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT CORRECTED ITSELF. THE JEEP LOOSES TOTAL CONTROL AND I AM AFRAID SOMETHING MAY COME APART CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. FREEDOM TOPS HAD RATTLE INSIDE OF THEM WITH HUGE WIND NOISE WHEN IN MOTION. PROBLEM CORRECTED WHEN DEALERSHIP SWITCHED OUT FREEDOM TOPS. NOW THE FREEDOM TOP IS TOO BIG FOR FREEDOM BAG. THE BAG APPEARS TO BE COMING APART WHEN ZIPPED. DROVE TO STORE AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TRIED TO REMOTE LOCK THE VEHICLE, WHICH FAILED. TRIED TO START JEEP, IT WOULD NOT START. FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS ON PANEL TO USE KEY BY PLACING CLOSE TO REMOTE START BUTTON. AFTER A SECOND TRY IT STARTED. RADIO PLAYING TWO STATIONS AT ONE TIME. BACK CAMERA WOULD NOT WORK. KEY FOB REPLACED AS IT WAS FALLING APART. ARMREST REPLACED, WOULD NOT CONNECT WHEN ENCLOSED IN HOLDER. ALL BEGAN IN 2/2018. DATE I AM ABOUT TO ENTER BELOW IS FOR THE WOBBLE.

I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WENT OFF. WITHIN 1 MINUTE I LOST MY POWER STEERING, AND BRAKES. MY CAR LOCKED INTO GEAR AND I LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. AT THAT POINT THE CAR STARTED DINGING AND PROMPTING EVERY CODE IN THE CAR. SWAY BAR ENGAGEMENT, REAR ELECTRONICS, FUEL LOW, TIRE PRESSURE, CHANGE OIL.....I CAN'T REMEMBER EVERY ONE. WHEN I GOT MY CAR TO STOP I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO TURN OFF AND ALL OF THE FANS WERE BLOWING ON HIGH ALONG WITH THE MOTOR REEVING. I FINALLY GOT IT TO TURN OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW. THE REPAIR SHOP TOLD ME THE CAR HAD THROWN OVER 100 CODES BUT NONE WERE ACTIVE. THEY KEPT MY JEEP FOR 10 DAYS AND TOLD ME THEY TOOK IT APART AND CHECKED EVERYTHING. I WAS TOLD BECAUSE NO ISSUES WERE CURRENT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM THOUGH.I PICKED IT UP AND NOT 8 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME HOWEVER I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHERE I WAS ALMOST HIT AND BECAUSE I HAD NO BRAKES OR POWER STEERING I ALMOST HIT A PERSON WALKING. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO AVOID ALL OF THAT AND GET PULLED OVER TO SAFETY. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AGAIN.

BATTERY GROUND CABLE SPARKS WHEN REMOVED NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU WAIT. BATTERY CHARGE DECREASED TO 60 % CHARGE BEFORE DISCONNECTED. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. VEHICLE HAS FIFTEEN RELAYS UNDER HOOD MANY OF WHICH ARE ALWAYS IN ON STATE. AM INSTALLING 180 AMP RELAY TO ISOLATE BATTERY. THIS VEHICLE IS HAZARD TO FIREMEN. MOST RELAYS DRAW 1.4 AMPS IN ON STATE.
Mileage: 41
VEHICLE WILL NOT START AFTER LIGHT TO MODERATE USE. AFTER USING THE VEHICLE FOR 20-30 MINUTES AND IT IS TURNED OFF, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALWAYS START BACK UP. IF THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE INDICATOR DOES NOT SWITCH FROM 163 DEGREES TO ABOVE 200 DEGREES, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY START BACK UP IF IT IS TURNED OFF. IT SEEMS THAT THE VEHICLE IS SENDING THE WRONG TEMPERATURE TO THE STARTER AND IT IS PREVENTING IT FROM READING THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE WHICH WOULD ALLOW PROPER STARTUP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP ME SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I SHOWED THEM VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING BUT THEY SAID THEY STILL COULD NOT HELP ME UNLESS THEY COULD REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TEN TIMES NOW SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM (U87) BUT FOR SOME REASON, MY VEHICLE'S VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.
Mileage: 7,100
ALL AUDIO SOUNDS INCLUDING PHONE, NAVIGATION, RADIO PAUSE EVERY THREE SECONDS. ENGINE DEACTIVATION OCCURRED WHILE PULLING A TRAILER GOING 35 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD. IT RESTARTED ITSELF. BACK UP CAMERA SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KELLY JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE RAM (978-683-8775, LOCATED AT 175 PELHAM ST, METHUEN, MA 01844) WHERE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE STEERING DAMPER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER OBSERVATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.

A SMALL BUMP CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END OF THE CAR TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. IT HAPPENS AT VARYING SPEEDS, TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR OR TRYING TO BREAK DOES NOT GET IT TO STOP, YOU RIDE IT OUT.THE WHEELS ARE SHAKING ALONG WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. IN ADDITION, THE CLOCK DOESN'T KEEP TIME AND RADIO INTERMITTENTLY DROPS STATIONS, SCANS THROUGH ALL OF THE STATIONS OR PICKS UP STATIC. I HAVE A VIDEO OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE RADIO(ON OR OFF), UNABLE TO CHANGE THE VOLUME OR SHUT THE RADIO OFF. I WAS NOT ABLE TO USE TOUCH SCREEN OR THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE RADIO. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE ON FOR THE SHAKING 3 TIMES NOW, GOING ON 4. JEEP SAYS IT'S FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE STEERING STABILIZER/DAMPENER. JEEP KNOWS IT IS HAPPENING AND MENTIONED GETTING "JEEP ENGINEERING" INVOLVED AND HAVE BLACKED OUT INFORMATION ON PAPERWORK WE RECEIVED AFTER REPAIRS, CONCERNED WE WOULD SEE THE "CONTACT/ EMAIL ADDRESS". THE FIRST SERVICE VISIT THEY COULD NOT GET THE SHAKING TO HAPPEN AND "RESET THE STEERING TO FACTORY SETTINGS", "THAT IT WAS A LITTLE OFF." THE SECOND SERVICE APPOINTMENT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT "COULDN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN". THEY HAD THE SALESPERSON I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM TAKE THE CAR FOR A RIDE AND COMPARE IT TO HOW HIS JL DROVE. THEY ASKED IF A WORKER "COULD TAKE THE CAR HOME AND DRIVE IT A FEW DAYS". I AGREED.IT HAPPENED TO THE WORKER AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER/DAMPENER THE FIRST TIME(ON THAT SECOND VISIT). THE THIRD SERVICE APPOINTMENT, THEY SAID THE "STEERING STABILIZER/DAMPENER WAS REPLACED WITH A FAULTY STABILIZER""THAT THERE WERE STILL FAULTY NEW ONES, THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE IT. THE FOLLOWING DAY, ITS VIOLENTLY SHAKING. IT HAPPENS IN MOTION, HAVEN'T NOTICED IT WITH TURNING. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE SHAKING HAPPENING TO THE STEERING AND THE ISSUES WITH THE RADIO.

BOUGHT MY JEEP 2018 WRANGLER BRAND NEW, HAD ISSUED WITH THE STEERING BECOME VERY HARD TO TURN WAS BARELY TURNING ON A CORNER STREET. LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN,ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST BECAME EASY TO TURN AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. ALSO A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT AND THE STABILITY CONTROLL LIGHT COMES ON EVERY NOW AND THEN, NOW THE ISSUE IS THE SCREEN IS DISPLAYING AN ANTI THEFT SCREEN ASKING FOR A THEFT CODE AND JEEP WILL NOT TURN ON.
Mileage: 13,000
REAR DEFROST CABLE BECOMES DISCONNECTED FROM THE REAR GLASS WHERE IT IS SOLDERED. I HAD PURCHASED MY JL NEW NOT KNOWING IT WAS ALREADY DEFECTED AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD ALREADY ORDERED A REPLACEMENT WINDOW. ABOUT A WEEK TO A WEEK AND A HALF AFTER THE INSTALL THE OPPOSITE SIDE(DRIVER SIDE)DID THE SAME THING. MY GUESS WOULD BE THE DEFROSTER IS OVERHEATING CAUSING THE SOLDER TO LOOSEN.
Mileage: 2,100
THE RADIO IS BEING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT HAS THE START STOP FEATURE AND IT WILL GO COMPLETELY DEAD AND REQUIRE TIME TO RESTART I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH AND IT STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IT HAS DONE IN TWICE IN TWO DAYS. IT IS TERRIFYING I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER.
Mileage: 19,400
BOUGHT JEEP JL 2018 BRAND NEW, I HAVE NOTICED ON AT LEAST THREE OCCASIONS THAT WHEN DRIVING ON REGULAR ROADS, STREETS, AT SPEEDS OF 25-45 MPH AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, AT A LIGHT, OR STOP SIGN, OR STOPPING FOR A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU, AFTER TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS, APPLYING THE BRAKE, JUST BEFORE YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE JL LUNGES FORWARD, WHILE YOU ARE STILL ON THE BRAKE. COULD THIS BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ECM?
Mileage: 7,000
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AFTEN, HAVE TO UNHOOK MY BATTERY TO TURN OFF
HI, I PURCHASED A 2018 JEEP WRANGLE JLU NEW FROM YOU DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH IT RECENTLY. THE MOST CONCERNING IS SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF YOU HIT A BUMP LIKE AN EXPANSION JOINT ; THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AGGRESSIVELY AND CAUSES YOU TO TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE JEEP AND YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN FOR IT TO SELF CORRECT. IT IS SIMILAR TO DEATH WOBBLE IN A LIFTED JEEP BUT THIS ONE IS STOCK. ALSO, WITH THE COLDER WEATHER THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT TURNING FREELY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS ALMOST AS IF THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY TURNS OFF BUT THE WHEEL IS EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE STEERING GOES BACK TO NORMAL AT SLOW SPEEDS. AND FINALLY THE RADIO AND TOUCH SCREEN ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FM RADIO RANDOMLY COMPLETELY LOSES SIGNAL AND CAN NOT FIND STATIONS. RANDOMLY EVEN WITH THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP TO 30 YOU CAN BARELY HEAR THE RADIO. SEVERAL TIMES THE SCREEN HAS MADE A POP NOISE AND THEN JUST TURNED OFF. THE BLUE TOOTH INTERMITTENTLY FAILS.
Mileage: 7,800
MOVING, INTERSTATE & EXTREMELY BUSY HIGHWAY. SOMETIMES IN A TURN, SOMETIMES GOING STRAIGHT. HIT A BUMP SUCH AS A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE BRIDGE AND VEHICLE AND FRONT END SHAKE AND SHIMMY. REQUIRES YOU TO SLOW DOWN TO UNDER MINIMUM INTERSTATE SPEED FROM 70 +- TO 30 +- FOR SHAKING TO STOP. RADIO, MAKES A BUZZING SOUND AND RESETS TIME. IT SEEMS TO BE SHORTING OUT. RADIO ELECTRICAL ISSUE HAPPENS WHILE MOVING AND STATIONARY.
Mileage: 990
THE VEHICLE DRIFTS DEPENDING ON SPEED AND ROAD CONDITIONS AND DOES NOT ALIGN ITSELF. THIS IS CURRENTLY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WITH WINDY CONDITIONS. IN ADDITON, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT HAVE AFFECTED BOTH THE START/STOP OR ECO MOOD NOT TO WORK AND CAUSES THE SCREEN TO FUNCTION SLOWLY IN A DELAYED MOTION.
Mileage: 200
INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND/OR SEIZING. UPON DRIVING TO EXIT HIGHWAY AND GET TO DEALERSHIP ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND EVENTUALLY JEEP STOPPED DEAD WHILE DRIVING. COULD NOT BE PUT IN NEUTRAL TO MOVE OFF OF ROAD AND WOULD NOT RESTART AT ALL.*DT CONSUMER STATED AUTO WINDOWS WOULD NOT WORK ALTHOUGH THE CHILD LOCKS WERE DISENGAGED. RECEIVED RECALLED OCT. 5TH 2018 JUST AFTER CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH MILAGE OF LESS THAN 1200. UPDATED 1/30/18*JB

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD GOING ABOUT 20MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING SO I PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT TO FIND SMOKE COMING FROM THE FUSE BOX/ BATTERY AREA. IT I COULD SMELL BURNT ELECTRICAL WIRING. WITHIN SECONDS OF PULLING OVER THE SMOKE TURNED INTO A FLAME AND BEFORE I COULD TO GET ANYTHING OUT OF THE JEEP THE WHOLE INSIDE WAS FULL OF SMOKE AND THE FLAME WAS SPREADING FAST.

OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE DATES BEGINNING TWO WEEKS AFTER DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE: 8/6/2018, 8/30/2018 AND 9/5/2018. MULTIPLE MALFUNCTIONS OF ILLUMINATED RED (AIR BAG WARNING, BRAKE WARNING, BATTERY CHANGE, COOLANT TEMPERATURE, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, OIL AND SEAT BELT) AND YELLOW DASH WARNING LIGHTS (ANTI LOCK BRAKES, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, LOW FUEL, CHECK ENGINE, TPMS, FRONT AND REAR AXLE LOCK, 4WD INDICATOR AND SWAY BAR INDICATOR) AND AUDIBLE WARNING CHIMES. ADDITIONAL WARNINGS OF "HOT OIL" AND INITIATION OF THE AUXILIARY COOLING FAN ON THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENS UNDER ROUTINE DRIVING CONDITIONS ON URBAN PAVED STREETS WITH SPEEDS NORMAL AT 40 MPH AND NOT GREATER THAN 55 MPH, WITH CLEAR SUNNY WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE IN THE MID-80S. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THE TIPM WAS DESCRIBED TO US AS A "SMART" FUSE BOX WITH DIODES THAT ARE OPEN OR CLOSED SUPPLY POWER TO VARIOUS SYSTEMS OR ACTING AS GROUNDS OR RELAYS, SOME OF WHICH IMPACT KEY SAFETY SYSTEMS ON THE VEHICLE. MULTIPLE EFFORTS TO REPAIR HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH INFORMATION IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND TECHNICIANS FROM CHRYSLER HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE 9/5/2018 AND STATE THEY ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REPAIR IT. CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFE OPERATION OF THIS VEHICLE IS LOW. AWAITING FURTHER FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND COLLECTION OF REPAIR ORDERS AND RELATED DOCUMENTS. *DT CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT FULL TIME SINCE SEPTEMBER 5,2018 FOR THE SAME ISSUE(S). THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL TECHNICIANS AND FACTORY REPRESENTATIVES FROM CHRYSLER TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WITH NO LUCK SO FAR (WE ARE APPROACHING THE TIMEFRAME TO DISCUSS THE LEMON LAW AND DEMAND A REPLACEMENT OF REFUND). THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED A TOTAL COMPUTER FAILURE WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. MY FIANCE' WAS DRIVING THIS TIME AND LOST POWER STEERING, BRAKE ASSIST, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS OR EVEN TURN OFF THE ENGINE. AS BEFORE, INDICATIONS ARE A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE CAN NETWORK - MULTIPLE CELS AND ERROR MESSAGES, FROM FUEL LOW TO TPMS FAIL TO ELECTRONIC START STOP DISABLED TO CHECK SHIFTIER, AS WELL AS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE ENGINE GOING INTO LIMP MODE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DOING 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY. IT OCCURRED AT NIGHT, THANKFULLY, AS IT CAUSED ME TO SWERVE BETWEEN LANES DURING THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER/STEERING ASSIST. IF IT HAD BEEN DURING RUSH HOUR, I WOULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS TIME THE COMPUTER FAILED WHILE IN A PARKING GARAGE. THANKFULLY IT OCCURRED AFTER TURNING INTO A STRAIGHT AWAY AS MY FIANCE' TOOK THE ENTIRE LENGTH TO STOP DUE TO THE LOSS OF BREAKING; SHE BLEW THROUGH A PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY AND COULD NOT STOP AND, IF IT HAD HAPPENED DURING A TURN, SHE MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE HIT A CAR OR HIT THE EDGE OF THE PARKING GARAGE. BOTH TIMES WE WERE VERY LUCKY THAT WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN MAJOR DAMAGE OR A FATALITY. JEEP HAS FOUND 2 ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEMS SO FAR WITH THIS JEEP AND OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE ADDITIONAL WIRING DEFECTS PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE.

OCCASIONALLY CAR WILL NOT TURN ENGINE OVER. ONLY LIGHTS WIL COME ON. TRIED TWO SETS OF KEYS WITH SAME RESULT. TRIED TO MOVE SHIFTER AND ADJUST BATTERY CABLES BUT WILL NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS CAR STARTS

BACKUP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING WHEN VEHICLE PUT INTO REVERSE. USING THE MANUAL CONTROLS WILL ALSO NOT ALLOW THE BACKUP CAMERA TO WORK. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE PROBLEM WILL NORMALLY FIX ITSELF WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS. HOWEVER THIS IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT OCCURS. THE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED HAVE BEEN WHILE BACKING INTO A SPOT, EITHER AT A PARKING LOT OR INTO A GARAGE. THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED WHEN BEING PUT IN REVERSE.
Mileage: 3,196
VEHICLE STALLED IN HIGHWAY, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR NO REASON AND WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO RESTART. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE RADIO AND BACKUP CAMERA WENT OUT AND CAME BACK AN HOUR OR SO LATER. THE RADIO, WHICH CONTROLS ALL ELECTRONICS AND BACKUP CAMERA, WENT OUT AGAIN. DEALER REPLACED SOME SORT OF INTERFACE FOR THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM (RADIO) ON 07/30/18. THEN VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN IN HIGHWAY, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON 08/03/2018 AND WAS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. THEN, ON 08/09/2018, A BATTERY CHARGE WARNING CAME ON AND THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. WHAT IS EVEN MORE TROUBLING, IS THESE VERY PROBLEMS ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET. ALL WORK HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE BUT I HAVE WASTED THE BETTER PART OF TWO FULL DAYS DRIVING TO/FROM THE DEALER OR WAITING IN THE WAITING ROOM. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FCA (JEEP). IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM JEEP ENGINEERS HAVE DESIGNED FOR THESE WRANGLER RUBICON JLS IS FLAWED TO SAY THE LEAST.

I WAS STOPPED AT A 4 WAY LIGHT IN MARION ILLINOIS, HAD MY JEEP IN NEUTRAL WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUSHED THE CLUTCH IN AND THE ENGINE DIDN'T COME BACK ON. I TRIED FOR OVER FIFITEEN MIN. TO GET IT ON. FINALLY CALLED A TOW AND HAD IT TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I ORDERED IT THROUGH NOT EVEN 30 DAYS AGO. THEY DIDN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL 4 DAYS LATER AND SAID THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS WITH THE PUSH START ENGINES. I HAVE A MANUAL W/O ELECTRIC DOORS SO NO AUTO START ON A KEY FOB. I ONLY HAD 204 MILES ON IT!! THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY'VE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE TAKE IT OUT FOR DRIVES TO RECREATE THE ISSUE TO NO AVAIL. I BOUGHT /ORDERED AND FULLY PAID FOR A BRAND NEW 2018 JEEP TO NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES ARISE. NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE!

2018 JEEP WRANGLER JLU SPORT. THE RECENT 5 INCH RADIO FIRMWARE UPDATE HAS CAUSED THE RADIOS TOUCHSCREEN TO BECOME UNCOMFORTABLY HOT TO THE TOUCH. AFTER THE UPDATE THE RADIO REFUSES TO SHUT OFF. IT WILL ALSO UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT OFF AND THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL STOP FUNCTIONING TEMPORARILY. THERE ARE ALSO MANY OTHER NON SAFETY ISSUES THAT JEEP SEEMS TO WANT TO IGNORE WITH THIS RADIO LIKE THE LACK OF RECEPTION BOTH TERRESTRIAL AND SATALLITE, THE LACK OF DISPLAYABLE CHARACTERS, THE FREEZING OF THE RADIO TO BLUE SCREEN, AND THE LAG IN THE TOUCH SCREEN AND VOLUME. JEEP REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND HAS SAID THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER UPDATE UNTIL OCTOBER. SEEMS TO ME THAT WHEN YOU BUY A VEHICLE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT SIX MONTHS FOR A WORKING RADIO.
BACKUP CAMERA NOT DETECTED. STARTED AS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT IS NOW FULLY NON-FUNCTIONING. DISPLAY SAYS "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO BACKUP CAMERA". SEEKING DEALER HELP.

UNINTENDED ACCELERATION: BOUGHT A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON ON 14 MAY 2018. ON 15 MAY 2018, I BROUGHT IT TO THE CAR WASH. AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE CAR WASH ONTO TO ADJACENT ROAD, VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY INTERACTION FROM MYSELF. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV THE ENGINE AS I RELEASED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I CONTINUED TO TAP AND THEM SLAM THE BRAKES TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A HALT. ON THE VEHICLE SCREEN, IT INDICATED SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE REQUIRES SERVICE" AND HAD THE ICON FOR THE "STOP-START" FEATURE AS DISABLED WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND OUT OF TRAFFIC, I WAS ABLE TO CYCLE THE ENGINE BY POWERING OFF. THE PROBLEM DID REPLICATE. BUT I BROUGHT IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED FAULTS (BUT UNAWARE OF THOSE FAULTS.) I RECEIVED POOR SERVICE FROM GATOR CHRYSLER JEEP WHO SAID THEY'D LOOK AT IT BUT IT WAS MOST LIKELY A CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE (NOT TRUE AS THE VEHICLE STARTED UNDER 20 MPH AND TAPPING THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION.) VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING EXAMINED AT BONIFACE-HIERS JEEP.
Mileage: 50
REAR CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO TURN ON AND DISPLAY WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE AND DRIVING IN REVERSE. JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS ISSUE IS NOT REPORTED AND NO KNOWN SOLUTION EXISTS. LEAVING THE JEEP OFF FOR SEVERAL HOURS RESOLVES THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO A SOFTWARE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT RESOLVE WITH A "RESET" OF THE ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEM. MULTIPLE USERS HAVE REPORTED THE EXACT ISSUE IN ON-LINE JEEP FORUMS.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS STUCK ON DESPITE CONTROLS SET TO OFF POSITION. NO TURN SIGNALS OR HIGH BEAMS EITHER. HAD TO PULL THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FUSE TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE HOME. TRIED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND STEP ON THE BRAKE, THEN LEAVE IT DISCONNECTED FOR 20 MINUTES, BUT THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. VEHICLE IS NEW, ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP. COMPLETELY STOCK, NO MODIFICATIONS. *TT *TR
