The Instrument Panel Cluster in my Jeep is flickering and then goes blank. I had it evaluated at a Jeep dealership and they recommend replacement. I'm uploading their assessment of the problem. This is the same issue noted in NHTSA ID Number: 24V652000. However, my VIN number is not included in the recall. I believe the recall should be expanded to include my vehicle. I'm including a copy of the evaluation and screenshots from a video taken on Oct 29, 2025, one showing the instrument panel lit up, and the second screenshot showing it blank minutes later. The video was taken while I was stopped at a stoplight. You can see another car in front of me through the windshield. I can provide the video as well, but the uploads do not take video uploads. Please help address this safety issue. I believe there are more vehicles like mine with this issue that are not currently included in the recall. Thank you.
My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has experienced repeated no-start failures and electrical/CAN-bus communication issues. The vehicle has intermittently failed to start and ultimately became completely inoperable. Due to the electrical failure, the vehicle was towed to an authorized Jeep dealership on June 8, 2025. Despite remaining in the dealership’s possession for several months, no diagnostic testing or repairs have been completed. The electrical failure prevents safe and reliable operation of the vehicle and poses a risk of being stranded without warning. As of December 2025, the vehicle remains inoperable and unrepaired.
My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JL's "Driver Information Digital Cluster Display" (on dash; in front of steering wheel) goes blank or vigorously flickers and then turns off. This has been an ongoing issue. You cannot see vehicle information at all - gauges, system information, speed, etc. This puts the driver and passengers at risk. The problem has been confirmed by my local mechanic. There is an open recall for the same issue for Jeep Wranglers of same model and year, but my VIN is not included. The recall is "Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-652." Please advise.
Car Shakes like crazy ( death wobble) expecially on Highway from hitting a little bump or transition on road.
The screen is delaminating causing erratic glitching and jumping all over the place, happens everyday, I can't use the gps or music or any apps
The panel display is short circuiting. It flickers on and off then goes black. Abs modular was malfunctioning, had to be place and damage the Axel Locker system- jeep wouldn't come out of park.
I have brought my vehicle in for 3 time for the dealership to take a look at Europe messages I have received. It is currently with them right now.as the start stop function is now not working. This happened while in the dealers possession and was working normally prior to me being it into the dealership. They said they repaired a vacuum leak. After the apportionment I noticed the start stop function wasn’t working and it said battery charging. I took my vehicle on a long drive to charge the auxiliary battery, but nothing changed. I brought the car back to the dealership and they are now saying they are not responsible as a battery can drain at any time. I have asked for dates on their OBD scans but they either do not have them or are unwilling to provide them to me. I asked what systems the auxiliary battery affects other than the start stop function. They told me seat belts, dash lighting and obviously emission because the vehicle will not start and stop the way it is supposed to, and continues to run while sitting at a light or stopped in traffic. I am currently waiting on results regarding the start stop function.
Front bracket control arm snapped due to bad welding
My dash board instrument cluster stopped working. No warning signs, just stopped. How is my vehicle not part of the dashboard cluster recall for 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler JL?
The check engine light came on, I took it to the dealership from where I purchased it and always take for oil changes and repairs. I was told I need a right cam shaft replaced and that the part is on back order indefinitely. I was advised by one mechanic to not drive it and a different one said to go short distances and if the check engine starts flashing to immediately pull over and shut it off. I am paying a payment and insurance on a vehicle that I cannot drive while having no end in sight and no other options. There were over 12,000 people in line ahead of me a month ago.
There is a recall for the vehicle VIN I have entered however the dealership is telling me that my vehicle doesn't qualify even though it was purchased in the US and I was not aware of recall and I just purchased it in March 2025. When I took it to a Dodge dealership regarding the pressure plate recall they would not take the vehicle.
The dash instrument panel went black and wouldn’t turn back on. I did not know my speed, could not see my odometer, or my gas information. I brought my jeep to the nearest dealership to diagnose and found that I need a new instrument cluster, this was back in February. Since then I have been waiting for this part from Stellantis with rolling ETAs that have not been met. I just found recall information regarding this part with the year of my jeep however I was told that my Vin is not part of this recall and I’m trying to find out why.
I have a 2018 jeep wrangler jk unlimited sport. And it has been shaking controllably once I go over 40 mph or when I hit a bump. Sometimes it’s hard to control the vehicle when this starts to happen on the high way. I have checked for recalls but it’s not showing anything listed. But this is not safe for me or other people on the road near me. I have done repairs after repairs to try to fix this issue and I am still having this issue. Today it is heading back to the shop once again because I just had a bunch of work done and it’s still not fixed the shaking and now it’s starting to smoke.
The radio touchscreen delaminated. Do to the delamination the screen would experience 'ghost touches' resulting in random controls being pressed. For example, At times, while driving highway speed the backup camera would activate and distract the driver and require screen input to deactivate while driving. SOmetimes 911 would be called through a ghost touch. Anything that could be pressed is possible. This is a major driver distraction and while it did not cause an injury while I was driving, it clearly is a safety hazard to take eyes off the road (and hands) when the screen is flickering with different actions. the only fix is to replace the screen by the dealership.
This part is required to make the vehicle drivable. 68661147AA intake camshaft. The vehicle has been off road in a dealership since 2/26/2025. No part is available; we are told more than 10,000 are backordered. This is a daily driver. The vehicle is 2018 with only 78,000 miles. No known answer to why the part failed however with this many backordered parts it is clear there is an ongoing and significant issue related to this.
Factory Aluminum Steering Box presents a severe safety hazard and should be immediately recalled due to its dangerous failure in cold and probably all temperatures. In low temperatures, the steering sticks and does not move freely, making normal driving extremely hazardous for both the driver and others on the road. While straight roads may not reveal the issue, attempting to turn on a curve becomes life-threatening—the wheel sticks, preventing necessary maneuvering or it darts me in another direction. Once it finally releases, it can lead to overcorrection, which is especially perilous on slick, icy, or snow-covered roads. This issue occurs without warning, at any speed, and significantly increases the risk of crashes. FCA is aware of the problem and has issued a Technical Service Bulletin 08-074-20 REV., but this is not a recall—meaning owners are left at risk. Die pretty much or risk your family dying and others or just get into that accident so the insurance companies screw you as always and you are left with nothing-those insurance adjusters don't work for we the people. This failure causes me a to have a collision daily and a run-off-road accident while traveling with my family on the interstate. The safety implications are undeniable, and action must be taken before lives are lost. This is not just a mechanical flaw—it’s a critical safety failure that demands an urgent recall. Then add in the notorious shimmy/shake onset of a death wobble. You are going the speed limit/interatate highway speeds and go over a bridge and it's over-you better pray! When driving a low speed 53mph if the vehicle hits a bump, it will start bouncing and the steering wheel shakes too much until I stop and then everything comes back to normal. That situation is very frequently and very dangerous, because it happened to me many times while driving on a highway with a heavy traffic behind me including semi trucks. If I die in my Jeep due to malfunctions FROM COMPANY my family can sue.
Engine oil cooler - This Mopar factory part is sub par. It is made out of metal and plastic and placed in the hottest spot of the vehicle and fails at approx 50, 000 miles. After I have done some research at local garages, this item failure is very common. I think Jeep Chrysler Dodge needs to take action for a recall.
I have a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL series. I was driving down the highway, and the soft top latches sheared off, causing the top to rip back off the top of the Jeep. These clips fell down inside the car and sharp plastic pieces hit my sunglasses. The place where they sheared off was not at any boat locations or latching sections. This year was at the curve where it boats on to the soft top roof frame. The flat section where the sheer occurred was about 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches by only a quarter inch thick. This thickness was not substantial enough to hold the roof locked down tight. This could have created an accident as I was going down the highway at 60 miles an hour almost losing control of the vehicle. I have visited the dealer and called Jeep. Customer care they offer no support. I feel like this is a substantial safety issue that could cause someone to lose control of the vehicle and endanger themselves and others.
As I was driving this vehicle alone on [XXX] , I smelled a burning smell and the clutch seemed to have trouble shifting gears. I was driving approximately 40 mph, attempted to shift gears, heard a loud bang and saw fire at my feet, looked in the rear view mirror and saw fire in the back. I pulled the emergency break and jumped out of the car. It then burst into flames and incinerated the car with all my belongings in it. I was driving on the freeway around 75 mph I’m not sure what happened or why but the jeep started violently shaking back-and-forth I’m not sure how to explain it. But I very easily could have lost control. Where I live there is snow and ice so I’m not sure why that happened but would like to see if there’s something I could check. Or if there’s been a recall. Nobody was hurt thank God no lights came on. I was able to slow down the Jeep safely.
there was a recall for death wobble on steering, took it in, supposedly fixed. a month went by and wobble came back, took back to jeep, they said i needed new tires. (of course warranty was just getting ready to expire.) bought new tires, death wobble is getting worse and worse. if you hit a bump in road and your going 45mph, you have to try and stop vehicle it is shaking sooo bad. not fair i have to pay
The navigation/radio screen has delamination. At first, I thought it was just cosmetic. Starting in July of 2024, it started doing things independently, such as changing channels, the source, and switching between navigation and backup camera; on [XXX], it started turning on Bluetooth and calling 911. I can not turn it on because it continues to call 911. The vehicle only has 20,900 miles. The local dealership and Jeep are aware of the problem and have offered to repair it at a cost to me. This is a manufacture defect that needs to be fixed/recalled by Jeep. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Radiator overflow bottle leaks. Warning light only comes on after empty. Refill of antifreeze was necessary every two weeks or less depending on driving conditions. Also know of this happening with another vehicle of the same make/model owned by family member.
Been trying to get the recall fixed in Kentucky. But dealer says its a Canadian vehicle and will not repair until made endless phone calls to USA and Canada and just get the run around. This has been going on since August 23. I just want a solution. Please help!!!!!
Incident date: [XXX], electrical problems causing loss of steering, 65 miles per hour, EXTREME action required to keep on road. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport (4 door), 3.6L engine, bought new July 2018, Everett Washington. RPM and speedometer gauges went to zero, loss of power steering, all dashboard warning lights blinking on/off, digital speedometer only showed dashes (- - -) windshield wipers came on scraping bare hot window (outside air temperature 104 degree F), radiator fan went full on, engine kept running but miss-firing/rough, managed to get off freeway and stopped, turned off ignition for 5 minutes. On restart, all errors (except Check Engine Light) disappeared and car appeared normal, no stored warning messages. This is second occurrence. Picture is similar to my errors (it is from Jeep Forum,[XXX] Location: [XXX]. What is going to happen if I am off road and it dies? Or on a Los Angeles Freeway? I might be dead. I had the common issue with Jeep ‘18 wranglers called the “death wobble”. I read many articles saying it’s common with jeeps from the 2018 era. One day I was driving and it stopped in the middle of the road. I couldn’t accelerate or brake. I could not fully get the vehicle off a busy highway. I took it in before this to get it diagnosed and mechanics could not figure it out. After this incident I towed it to the dealership and they replaced my drive shaft because it was completely destroyed. I am now paying $2000 in repairs.
Jeep wrangler jl with 23,000 miles driving 55 mph. Jeep front end started shaking violently and brake pedal pulsating so that I could not brake or steer vehicle. Did Google search and this has been a major Jeep wrangler issue. As an engineer Jeep designers did not understand harmonic frequencies when designing or specificity front end design. This happened 3 times before Wisc. Cambridge service could replace front end steering component at $600 cost. Very dangerous on highway going 55 mph with no vehicle control. I believe you are aware of this issue and have failed your duty to force mfg to fix with a recall.
ABS Module, confirm with dealer ship and automotive shop. Loss of power steering, lost use of drive shaft, car completely stalled on main road.
my vehicle has extremely bad death wobble, only 55 thousand miles on it. its a extreme safty hazard ! i just had my tires rotated and balanced and the problem is not any better ! once i hit 65 mph its shakes uncontrollably and i have to slow down to 40mph to get it to stop! that is extremely dangersous on a highway to be driving like this ! it has been like this since i got my car at 33,000 miles in august 2021
Cannot drive over 65 mph without Jeep shaking uncontrollably. This is not a problem with just me but 100’s if not 1000’s of others. JEEP NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
While driving my daughter to daycare, the rear window spontaneously exploded. The vehicle was stopped at a traffic light. Our daughter was in the backseat in a rear facing car seat and she was inconsolable after the event due to the loud sound. We had had several issues with the read window. The defroster keeps coming off despite multiple attempts by several dealerships to repair. We then the window replaced in fall 2021 but the defroster kept detaching so we gave up and just accepted it the poor design. There are several reports on Jeep forums of spontaneous explosions similar to this and rear defroster detaching. None of this issues have resulted in a safety recall.
Paint bubbling and Rust accumulation on all 4 doors and door hinges, hood and hood hinges and varius body panels. Jeep has been taken to a Jeep dealership and no further communication from Jeep on if this is going to be corrected or not. Engineers should know not to put steel and aluminum together without proper coatings or protections.
There has been a recall since February 2023 that has not been handled yet. I have yet to receive any information on how they are handling this recall that is a potential fire hazard. 10 months should be sufficient time to be in touch with consumers. I was told when I called the manufacturer that I could use my warranty. I will not use a warranty on a recalled issue.
Was stopped at stop light jeep still running and all sudden neutral flashing and wouldn’t shift back up into park at all. Had to disconnect battery wait 30 seconds and hook back up for it to shift into park… started it up and everything is now good. For now
I get a service shifter message and then vehicle steering wheel locks mid driving. Read it is the wiring harness. And is a repeats issue with jeep wrangler. My 2018 wrangler is at the dealership.
When I hit a bump of any size my Jeep starts shaking uncontrollably. The first time it happened I had a panic attack because I had no idea what was going on and feared for my life. I pulled to the right side of the road and came to a complete stop for it to stop shaking. Everyone’s safety around me could me at risk including mine since sometimes I don’t know when it’ll happen and I can’t take my hand off the steering wheel to try and see to move over to the right side of the road. It happens very often. First time was I believe in March 2023.
Paint is bubbling causing rust-
There is a missing weld on the lower passenger rear control arm bracket that looks like a manufacture defect. I recently started hearing a clanging noise and brought it to the mechanic. I was not put at risk of safety (for the tie being). The problem has been confirmed and looked at ONLY by a mechanic. There were no warning lights. How do i get the welding fixed? the dealer will not help me repair it.
At highway speeds when driving over surface imperfections, the jeep randomly and suddenly starts to wobble uncontrollably, with a significant wobble in the steering wheel. This wobbling goes away when the vehicle slows down, but pops up again in a random manner when driving over any surface imperfection / bump / road seam at highway speeds
Paint is bubbling on all 4 doors, starting to flake off along with rust and corrosion on all 4 door hinges.
On August 3,2022. I was driving on the city street crossing the railroad track on 40 speed zone. As soon as it passed, the jeep starts shaking for a minute or so then it stopped. So I thought it was weird but I though it might have been just the railroad on October 22, My sis and are on the freeway, about to merge to the left lane to a different freeway, I felt the jeep was hitting a pump. Then immediately the jeep starts wobbling and shaking that I wasn't able to hold on the steering wheel. I was soo scare that I'm going to hit the other cars and cause accidents. I took the foot off the gas paddle , just let it be while I'm still holding the wheel. Trying to move to the right lane , it was just impossible. The jeep was like jumping around. The wheel was so stiff just cannot move. Finally after awhile the wobbling stopped. I slowly move the jeep to the right lane and drive to the nearest exit. Then I called the dealership right away and told them what happened. Will get back to you soon, that was the answer I got each time I called that day. Which I had called at least 4 times. Next day my friend told me to take this dependable car dealer shop, it has lots of good review and highly recommended. Left the jeep there for couple of days> It was tested with high speed with high bumps. No problem was found. Since then I tried to avoid the freeway, I got nervous driving on the freeway with these bad experience Nov13,22 meeting a friend because of the distance I have to get on the freeway. I was more conscious, I'm holding steering wheels with both hands. after 7 to 8 miles , sure enough the wobbling starts but since i have both hands holding it , I was as frightened as the precious time. After the wobbling stopped, I drove slowly to the destination. With all these scarcely experience. Every time I drive , I'm really nervous. Finally i took it to the dealership. It was diagnosis the steering damper. Unfortunately, it was back order till march or April this year. So,
Had a diagnostic done for a leak that had happened yesterday. It is the Oil filter housing under intake. From 13-17 there ARE recalls on this but for an 18 there isn’t. There was an unidentified smell when I got out of the vehicle. There were No warnings on my Jeep. I came out to my Jeep hours after to see a leak under my Jeep. Looked under and It is all over my transmission and oil pan. Very little on the ground but left with no oil in my Jeep. If it did not start dripping from those parts I never would have known about a leak and it could have blown the engine in so blowing up my vehicle.
This vehicle has undergone two recalls for an issue involving the clutch and other parts in the same vicinity blowing apart, shooting out like a grenade, and causing catastrophic damage to the transmission, hoses, and whatever else might be in the way of the projectiles. This happened to me after I bought the car used, with very low mileage, and still under power train warranty. The dealer balked at first and tried to blame my tires until I mentioned the recalls. They then fixed it under the power train warranty. No less than 2 weeks later the same exact issue occurred yet again! (I had been nowhere near the clutch pedal and had not shifted for quite some time during either occurance) I pulled over immediately and shut down because I knew what had happened. It felt exactly the same. Now the dealership is insisting this isn't the case and that I get my auto insurance carrier involved. Simply because it projected a different way!!!!! I have been driving a manual transmission for almost 30 years now and have NEVER had any kind of issues in the past with any vehicles I have driven. This is ridiculous! Does someone have to lose their life before anything real is done?????
I had just purchase this used with 19000 miles on it. It had already had all of the recalls performed for the clutch. I was on the highway in moderate traffic, when the clutch suddenly fell to the floor for no reason as I had already been in fifth gear for a while. Then the vehicle lost all power and there was a clanking noise and it seems like it was on fire with all the smoke billowing. I miraculously made it from the high speed lane over to the slow lane and luckily there was an off-ramp right there. It only made it about 50 ft and died. By the time the dealer looked at it and told me there was thousands of dollars worth of damage I couldn't believe it. All over the same thing that had been issued recalls twice already. Luckily it still was under the powertrain warranty and they took it easy on me with the rest of the parts that weren't covered. But the transmission bellhousing was sheared in half by the clutch plate or something, it cracked my thermostat housing and my thermostat . We thought there was going to be engine damage as well. The entire transmission needed to be replaced due to the fact that the clutch flywheel had broken its teeth or something like that. The entire thing was just a major, major mess. The dealership had it for over 2 months and the rental fees were killing me. The entire thing was just so disastrous. I'm just glad that it didn't kill anybody.
I own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL (4-Door) that I bought new. It only has 7,522 miles on it and has never been off-road. On 12/3/22, I was driving on the interstate at the speed of 70 mph when my jeep began shaking vigorously and the steering became almost uncontrollable. I had to take evasive action, move over to the far right lane and slow my speed rapidly. Once my speed was under 30 mph, my jeep began driving normally again. This occurred when I drove over the beginning of a small bridge where there was a minimum change of the driving surface. As I continued driving on the interstate, the same action occurred when I drove over the next change in the surface road. This time I was only traveling at 50 mph and had to slow down to 20 mph to get the vigorous shaking to stop. I took it to my local Jeep Dealership today (12/5/22). After they inspected my jeep, I was advised that the steering damper was weak and outdated. I was also advised that they had already replaced the steering damper once due to the "customer satisfaction note" issued by FCA. The dealership then stated that FCA has revised the steering damper since the one that was replaced under the note but that I would have to pay for this repair because FCA hasn't issued a recall or safety notice regarding this known issue. At the low miles of 7,522 on a Jeep Wrangler that I bought brand new, I am going to have to pay for a repair to a known safety issue. Even after replacing the steering damper that they knew was defective once, I am going to have to pay for a 3rd steering damper that has been revised because the 2nd one put on by FCA was defective. This is a serious safety issue and is known by FCA but they are refusing to admit the issue and are making their customers pay for their defects. I will include a copy of my service report from the Jeep Dealership.
My jeeps backup camera randomly works. This is a huge safety issue. I’ve taken it to Jeep who said there were no recalls and made me pay close to $300 out of pocket to “update” my radio system. I am still having the issues and can’t afford to keep taking the vehicle back to troubleshoot further. This is a major safety issue as it’s not guaranteed my camera will work and if it does fail there is no telling when it will start working again. If you search forums you’ll see this issue being present with jeeps since 2016 to now. All different years. Please let me know what can be done or if additional info is needed.
Driver side sun visor has a failed connection to the vehicle frame, resulting in the visor falling down in front of the driver's field of view. This happened spontaneously and nearly resulted in a crash. This is an issue many owners of Jeep Wrangler JLs have experienced. The design of this connection has not changed. Please reference these Jeep owner websites for more examples. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sun-visor-broken.37957/page-21 https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/sun-visor-fix.44865/
This started out intermittently after hitting a bump in the road, but now the vehicle shakes uncontrollably at 50 mph and above. The vehicle feels like it is falling apart. I need to put my hazzards on and move slowly to the side of the road and come to a stop to get the shaking to stop. I have several videos of the condition, but they are too large to upload (11MB and 33MB). I am taking my vehicle to the dealership in hopes they can fix this. There is an open class action lawsuit with Jeep over a similar issue. I also have already had the steering stabilizer recall performed.
Vehicle violently shakes after hitting a bump or other imperfection on the freeway.
The Jeep was being driven to a dealership to get checked for recalls due to the engine stuttering and stalling, radio and navigation not working, and just not running right. All of the sudden the engine ‘blew up’ and it stopped running. The Jeep was rolled to the side of the road and oil was seen leaking out of a hole in the underside of the engine. Pics were taken. It was towed to a dealership. No inspection has been performed yet to determine what the cause of the catastrophic failure is.
All warning lights on the dash lit up. All gauges (tach, speed, fuel) fell to zero while I was traveling at 55 mph. Engine stayed running. Power steering failed but would engage intermittently causing over steering when it caught. Found a safe place to get off the road and turned vehicle off for 1/2 hour. The vehicle ran fine afterward. Limped it to the dealer a day later and they diagnosed it as a "star connector" problem. They said they've seen it before. There's much discussion on the internet about it occurring with the 2018 Wranglers. Jeep said that the replacement connector is just the same as the one which failed so this could happen again if the connector is not improved. Loss of steering is life threatening especially when it goes on and off intermittently.
The vehicle intermittently fails to shift into gear when started. This also happens intermittently while driving (when stopped the engine turns off while the brake pedal is depressed. When the engine restarts to go forward it behaves as if it is in neutral and won't engage.) Additionally, on occasion, the instrument panel fails to function while in operation. There is a blog thread on this issue as experienced by others: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/service-shifter.24255/ ***Note, the date listed below is when we first began experiencing this issue. This is an ongoing issue which is experience 5 or more times per week. The vehicle has been in and out of the shop without resolution. The cost is out of pocket. The vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership shop considered "unsafe to operate" while we wait on a solution.
2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Sport Unlimited rubber hood catch failed due to gust of wind generated by oncoming semi-truck on two lane highway (HWY 54) while being driven at highway speed. Luckily the other rubber catch and front center hood safety catch hook did not fail. Going on-line, one finds numerous complaints about this problem for some time and has been reported to you for the last couple of years. In discussion with Jeep Dealership Parts department, they said the part has not been upgraded.
I have two issues to report. First issue was while driving on interstate the dash went completely out. Had no idea my speed, fuel level, navigation....nothing. I slowed down to get off the road. Stopped and turned off engine. Turned it back on and nothing. Then it just popped on. I was able to continue on my way. Then I started having the second issue. Second issue to report. The Uconnect display monitor touch screen system is delaminating and now it changes stations, systems (navigation, weather, etc) on its own. I checked the Jeep blogs and this is a consistent problem for the past 8 years. There is an adhesive problem that Jeep/Chrysler is well aware of. To stop this flickering of stations from happening, I have to drive with one hand and take my finger on the other hand keeping it constantly pressed against SXM button . Or turn off the radio. This is a 4 1/2 yr old jeep with 68,000 miles. Jeep will not do anything except replace it at retail cost. I am not alone with this issue. There are 100's of stories on the internet blogs. This should be a recall issue to protect the consumers from extremely poor quality from a company like Chrysler. They knew this was a quality issue jet continued producing a faulty product. They should be better than this and held accountable.
Since May of this year I have been trying to get my vehicle diagnosed and repaired. Multiple warning lights and messages go off at various times. Vehicle loses power steering and speed detection at a minimum. I have been to 3 different dealers at 5 separate times. A STAR case was opened by Fiat/Chrysler but was closed despite lack of diagnosis by dealer and concerns that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I have spent thousands of dollars and communicated multiple times to Fiat with no resolution. I have noted on various forums people complaining of similar issues. The following warnings are noted at frequent intervals; ABS needs service, shift module needs service, do not shift, do not turn off power, traction control, battery warnings and many more. Every possible warning indicator is coding. At previous dealer visit to current, the dealer advised that they could not diagnose and told me to pick up the vehicle. I advised Fiat and they supported me getting my vehicle despite concerns that it was unsafe. All documented.
The service axle locker system warning light started to appear, and it means the lockers are either poorly functioning, or a wiring\electronic issue has occurred. This is dangerous either way.
FIRST off the vehicle locked up with every light on. it had to be tolled. we put a new battery and it worked for awhile. took to dealership with engine light on and the stabilizer track bar light is on. They fixed the clock screen. Soon as i left the dealership both light were both back on. I drove the vehicle home and its a wonder i made it. You cannot keep it on the road . the stering is all over the place. The dealership is hopless and i spent $ 900.00 . Now what do i do.
The Uconnect screen is delaminating causing the screen to change and override all driver selections at will while driving. This is a safety risk because it is a huge distraction while driving when the system is changing settings back and forth while beeping. The problem was confirmed by my Jeep dealer and since I'm out of warranty it will be over $1,000 to replace. No, it was not inspected by any other party except the dealer. The only indication of the problem was you can visually see the separation by the appearance of a bubble in the screen.
The screen on my 2018 Jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited is de-laminating. It is causing issues with the touch screen and begins to do things on its own. It is a safety concern due to it being distracting while driving. I am not able to use the hands free mode.
When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the Auto Shut Off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire jeep system.
Multiple times the check engine light, air bag lights, powertrain light have went off. I took it to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and reset the lights. The last time this happened, all power went out on my Jeep Wrangler. I pulled it to the side. Sat for a while and drove 20 home. I called the Jeep dealership and they inspected my car. 160 warnings were on the electric scan. The mechanic called Chrysler--they charged me almost a 1,000 to fix something in the steering column. I have no warranty as it has been over 3 years. I took my car back and the dealership mechanic said he wasn't sure if he fixed it and I should call Chrysler. We did. My case # is 82498233. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Since then, my car keeps losing power while I am driving. I pull it over and sit and then it starts working within 15 minutes. No one knows what is wrong with it. It is a 2018.5 Jeep Wrangler. I am teaching my son to drive on it and it is very scary.
This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.
My back window on my Jeep Wrangler will not zip back up all the way. I have only unzipped the back window once, and that was to wipe the inside of the window because it was hard to see clearly though the back window. When I tried zipping the window back up, the zipper did not zip up all the way, and now there is an opening, and water is getting into my jeep. The zipper has never been used except this time, so I could clean the inside of the window. This incident happened about a month ago, and now so much water has come through the opening, it has rusted and ruined my brand new Jack and Jack lift that came with my jeep. Rain gets through the opening, especially if it rains really hard, and a puddle of rain will stay on my soft top, and when I go to drive it after the puddle of rain has been sitting on top of my soft top, that puddle drains right down the pack of my top, and gets down into the hole. I have also noticed bugs and insects getting through that hole and into my vehicle. Mosquitos usually always get through that opening every time it rains, and wasps get through it too. With wasps going in and out of this opening, I fear they may try to build a nest in my car, since they come and go out of that opening. I have 2 small children, and cannot drive around with this opening in my soft top with my kids. That it a dangerous situation, and the rain getting into that hole is ruining the inside of my Jeep.
There is a common complaint among owners of 2018 and newer Jeep Wranglers. The visors can become detached from their main support allowing them to impede the visibility of the driver and any passengers in the vehicle. Typically the visors break when being raised or lower, however due to the minimal effort it takes to cause the defect to be created the visor can swing wildly if jarred loose during an accident or driving in an emergency which could strike a driver or passenger in the face or chest. I would like an investigation started into resolving this issues as owners are having to pay for new visors only to have them repeatedly break due to the design.
My jeep makes a thumping/clunking sound when ever I take my feet off the acceleration and slow down . When sitting in the Jeep it sound like it's coming from the front end suspension but when I stick my head out the window to listen and look for the sound it's clearly coming from the rear axle . I've done extensive research regarding this issue on jeep forums. I've found that this is a common issue among jeep jl owners . all have experience sounds that sound like its coming from the front only to find our it coming from the rear and also to have entire axle replaced. I fear this is getting worst as many has also said that upon inspecting axle metal shavings are found in diffs .
Instrument cluster failed at 5 AM (completely dark) when wife on interstate on way to airport: no speedometer, no odometer, no gas gauge, no “idiot” lights, and so on – all of which have safety concerns associated with them. Took 2 weeks to get appt. w/ dealer. When they found there was no odometer on the cluster, they in essence impounded the vehicle – something about legally they could not let her drive it until the replacement cluster came in. This indicates a serious safety and/or legal liability issue. Couldn’t estimate how long that would be. Vehicle had only 29,481 miles on it! <Many customer service issues followed but for brevity will not elaborate here.> It took two trips to dealer and $1241.72 to complete the repairs. (Somehow they were able to get the odometer setting on the replacement cluster matched to actual mileage by an internal mechanism I didn't understand.) Please note that the Jeep forums indicate this problem was not an isolated incident! Filed claim for reimbursement of repairs and was flatly denied. Service record, complaint to Jeep, and (unsatisfactory) response attached. I recommend a recall for this defect. Please let me know the results of your investigation. Thanks!
My Jeep experienced sever wobbling, as if the front wheels were coming off. So, I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the "death wobble." When I took it to the Autonation Jeep Dealership, South, Columbus GA. I was told that they had a recall on that 2 years and 3 months ago, and since the 2 year warranty expired, there was nothing they could do about it. If a recall doesn't work, then isn't the dealership still required to fix a manufacturer defect? My Jeep had an additional recall, which the dealership performed last week, and the dealership thought this new recall (computer update) might fix the death wobble problem. When I picked up my Jeep last week after this second recall, my heat and A/C no longer worked--all controls on the Jeep no longer worked. The dealership said they just followed the procedure in the recall, and since the recall resulted in the loss of my heat, A/C and defrosting, that I needed to deal with Jeep USA. I have submitted my case to Customer Care (FCA US, LLC) at Jeep USA, and they are telling me they might be able to ship a part in 6 weeks. My car has no heater. No accountability. I need to be compensated for the damages they have caused to my Jeep! Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I'm describing this is a steering problem, but it may easily include suspension as well. I've experienced the so-called death wobble several times since buying this Jeep. I had chalked it up as being part of having 4WD (though operating in 2WD), but I never had this problem with a much older Jeep, and it doesn't seem like it should be acceptable. Twice on this day traveling around 60 MPH, the steering began to shake with the whole vehicle wobbling. I was able to stop it after slowing down below about 40 MPH or so. I haven't found a common culprit, though it's been triggered by hitting bridge expansion joints on the highway... particularly if I'm not going perfectly straight. I'm fearful of driving over 55 MPH, and I don't think that's acceptable. While I kept control, I don't know if that will always happen. I fear losing control and possibly rolling over. It has not been reproduced or confirmed. It has not been inspected. No warning lamps or messages showed.

The right side sun visor broke. One month later the driver side visor broke. Both by the mounting stem.
The Uconnect (Infotainment System) screen in our vehicle has suffered from delamination. The delamination between the two parts of the screen has resulted in persistent "ghost touching". This is where the screen acts as if it has been touched even though it has not. This ghost touching is sporadic and volatile and results in a very large distraction for the driver. On more than one instance this distraction has almost led to a collision. At one point the touch screen started to self dial SOS and would not respond to the initial attempts to hang up, causing the driver to be distracted and almost cause a collision. This is a known problem affecting multiple FCA vehicles where they have chosen to not recall or support the replacement of the faulty part. This issue can endanger the vehicle driver and others on the road way.
In July 2021 our 19 year old daughter was driving our 2018 Rubicon on a trip 2 hours or so from home when all of the dash warning lights came on speedometer was lost . Panicked she asked us what to do? We told her to take it to the closest Jeep dealership (Ladd-Hanford DCJR) to see if the vehicle was safe to drive. She was told it just needed an oil change and it was safe to drive. About 10 days later my wife was driving the vehicle and the same thing happened. The vehicle was taken to our local dealer where they tried to diagnose, unable to duplicate the problem it was returned to us. We returned about 10 days later same lights coming on, this time power steering was lost. Dealership worked with Chrysler engineering and determined that the ABS module needed replaced. Work completed and Jeep was picked up. About 10 days later dash warning lights on, speedometer display out, power steering lost, back to dealership. Unable to look at at that time appointment made and returned. It is now September 30th we have cases opened with Chrysler and Mopar Warrantee. Vehicle is still at the dealership, diagnosis is now a $2000.00 chaffed wiring harness just outside the fuse box not covered by anybody. No guarantee that this will fix it. Neither will put anything in writing. I have tried to be patient, we need our vehicle. I do not feel that my family or others are safe when it pertains to this vehicle. I don't want it to be involved in an accident that could cause serious injury or death.
My Jeep Stalled on me in the middle of the street at Night. All of the lights dimmed out including my Emergency lights, I couldn’t put into Neutral or turn it on I had to get it towed Home. Both batteries replaced it turns on but stalls. Could be the alternator?
WHILE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND, MY 2018 JEEP WENT INTO "DEATH WOBBLE" WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO EXIT THE ROAD. I WAS GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE SOME IMPERFECTIONS ON THE ROAD. I SEARCH ONLINE WHEN HOME AND SAW THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN THE PAST. HOWEVER, WHEN LOOKING AT THE VIN ON NHTSA RECALL CHECK IT SHOWS NO RECALLS. WHILE DRIVING I WAS ABLE TO REMAIN COMMON AND ANALYZE THE SITUATION. HOWEVER THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF ONE OF KIDS EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. PLEASE ADVISE
Strong oder of exhaust when accelerating at high way speeds. The smell lingers in the cab of the Jeep until I open a window. Is strong enough to also smell while the top is down. Has been an on going issue.
WHILE DRIVING THE LOCKER SYSTEM LIGHT WILL DING AND LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. HAVE HAD IT AT A DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES APPROXIMATELY FOR THIS ISSUE. LOCKER SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK BUT I FEAR IT WILL ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING SINCE THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. I HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE AXLE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE DRIVE TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX IT AT THIS POINT BUT WHEN THE ENGINEER SAYS IT NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY MEAN BY THAT SINCE IT IS NOT A SERVICEABLE PART OF THE AXLE. IT IS BUILT INTO THE AXLE ITSELF HENCE THE AXLE REPLACEMENT. THE FORUM FOR THE JL WRANGLER THERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF PROBLEMS WITH THE AXLE/LOCKER SYSTEM THAT JEEP CANNOT FIGURE OUT AND IT'S BEEN OVER 2 YEARS.
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT, THERE WAS A CLOUD OF SMOKE BEHIND MY JEEP. I WAS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM HOME SO VERY SLOWLY I GOT THERE. AND THERE WAS ALSO A BURNT SMELL. MY JEEP HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERS SINCE MARCH 18. TODAY THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE CLUTCH RECALL AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS MY 3RD MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE AND I DO NOT BEAT ON THEM. I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A MANUAL VEHICLE. THE WHOLE TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS BEEN TELLING ME HE BELIEVES IT WAS DUE TO THE RECALL. APPARENTLY SOMEONE FROM FCA MADE THE DECISION THAT IT WAS NOT.

JEEP WENT INTO AUTONATION BROADWAY IN LITTLETON COLORADO ON JANUARY 8TH 2021. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THERE UNREPAIRED SINCE DUE TO A RECALL FOR A DEATH WOBBLE WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT THE CENTER JERSEY BARRIER.. HOWEVER, WHEN LOOKING AT THE VIN ON NHTSA RECALL CHECK IT SHOWS THE RECALL HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS. FCA ALSO STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BUT WILL NOT SAY OR PUT IN WRITING THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.

SUN VISOR FALLS OUT OF THE PLASTIC BRACKET. IS NOW HELD IN PLACE ONLY BY THE ELECTRICAL WIRE. THE SMALL PLASTIC CLIP HOLDING IT IN PLACE HAS BROKEN. APPEARS BY ON-LINE COMPLAINTS TO BE A PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY MANY! MANY BROKE WELL BEFORE 40K MILES MINE BROKE ABOUT 1000 MILES PAST WARRANTEE ENDED. WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME. I'M ACTUALLY EXPECTING THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR TO BREAK ANY TIME. IN MY OPINION, HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW.

HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO JEEP T CORRECT ISSUE. BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T ALWAYS FUNCTION. THE SCREEN IS BLACK WHEN REVERSING AND SOMETIMES THE SCREEN WORKS BUT WITHOUT GUIDING LINES. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE AND THEY HAVE SAID THEY CORRECTED IT BY RESETTING SOFTWARE OR WHATEVER BUT ISSUE ALWAYS COMES BACK. I AM WRITING TO YOU THIS TIME BECAUSE AN INCIDENT THAT JUST OCCURRED TODAY PUT ME OVER THE EDGE. THE SCREEN WAS BLACK WHILE REVERSING AND SINCE MY KEEP HAS A MOLAR LIFT KIT WITH 37 INCH TIMES I'M A BIT HIGH. I DIDN'T NOT SEE OR REALIZE THAT SOMEONE STANDING BEHIND ME AND I ACCIDENTALLY BACKED INTO THEM. MORE OF A BUMP BUT NONE THE LESS A SCARY SITUATION. SOMEONE COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT. NOTHING HAPPENED BUT I AM CONCERNED NOW. I'M ALSO IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND I SEE ACCIDENT ALL THE TIME. I HOPE THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER CORRECTS THIS ISSUE BEFORE A TRAGEDY HAPPENS. BACK UP CAMERAS ARE FEDERALLY MANDATED. SO THEY SHOULD ALSO BE MANDATED TO WORK EFFECTIVELY. ESPECIALLY AFTER THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT IT. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2018 AND FROM THE BEGINNING OF MY PURCHASE I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND BROUGHT IT TO THEM TO CORRECT WHICH THEY HAVE TRIED BUT APPARENTLY FAILED. I CANNOT PUT A DATE ON THE BOTTOM AND CORRECTLY SHOWS A TIME FRAME BUT KNOW THAT IS HAS BEEN SINCE OCTOBER OF 2018.

WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION WILL DISABLE AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASH POPS UP THAT SAYS 'STOP/START UNAVAILABLE. SERVICE START/STOP' AND A YELLOW A WITH AN ARROW AROUND IT WILL LIGHT UP ON THE DASH. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY BUT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, MY JEEP SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE SERVICE MESSAGE AS PREVIOUSLY STATED APPEARED, ALONG WITH THE YELLOW A AND ARROW. I HAD TO PUT MY JEEP INTO PARK AND RESTART MY ENGINE. THE SYSTEM MESSAGE AND A CONTINUED TO DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY ONE TIME, HOW EVER THAT STILL IS A SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR ROUGHLY TWO WEEKS TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG.

EVERYTHING THEN WENT AWAY FOR A LITTLE BIT AND THEN IT STARTED TO COME BACK BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND IS STAYING ON THIS TIME.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE, WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING, SOMETIMES THE PARKING ASSIST GRID LINES DO NOT SHOW UP AT ALL ON THE SCREEN THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU WHEN YOU ARE BACKING THE VEHICLE UP. THE GRID LINES LET YOU KNOW HOW FAR TO KEEP BACKING UP, IF YOU ARE GOING STRAIGHT OR AT AN ANGLE, LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP BACKING UP, ETC. THIS MEANS YOU ARE NOT EXACTLY SURE WHEN YOU SHOULD STOP & SOMETIMES YOU HIT THE CURB BEHIND YOU WITH YOUR WHEELS OR IN MY CASE, I HIT OUR BACKYARD FENCE. I ALSO COULDN'T TELL THAT I WAS AS CLOSE TO A PARKED CAR AS I WAS OR THAT I DID NOT PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE STRAIGHT. I'VE EMAILED JEEP SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS & JOINED SEVERAL ONLINE BLOG GROUPS & JEEP KEEPS TELLING US JEEP OWNERS THEY WILL BE PUTTING OUT A UCONNECT UPGRADE WHICH SHOULD FIX IT BUT WE'VE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 YEARS NOW & NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I HIT 2 OR 3 SMALL BUMPS CONSECUTIVELY ON THE PA TURNPIKE. THE CAR STARTED TO WOBBLE AND STEERING WHEEL SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED...COULD NOT REGAIN CONTROL, HAD TO DOWNSHIFT RAPIDLY TO DECREASE SPEED AND GET CONTROL. LUCKILY, AT THIS TIME, THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME BUT THERE ARE SO MANY PLACES ALONG THE TURNPIKE WHERE YOU'RE JAMMED BETWEEN CONCRETE BARRIERS, IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SCARY.

THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE NOTICED WHEN I DID THIS... I HAVE NOT DONE ANY OFF ROADING RECENTLY AND HAVE CERTAINLY NOT DONE ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE. THEN I LOOKED AT THE ISSUE..... I ALSO HAD A PROFESSIONAL WELDER LOOK AT IT... THE WELD WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY. THERE IS NO WELDING MARKS ON THE SECOND PART OF THE WELD.*DT*JB*DT*JB
THE WIRING GOING TO THE STEERING COLUMN KEEPS SHORTING OUT MAKING IT SO THE HORN, STEERING WHEEL ELECTRICAL BUTTONS AND LIKELY AIRBAG STOP WORKING. THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THE CLOCK SPRING. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE PURCHASED WITH 12000 MILES AND REPLACED TWICE. AT 22000 MILES THE DEALER CANNOT KEEP IT FUNCTIONAL. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE LACK OF FUNCTIONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH. THIS ALSO LEADS TO LOSS OF VALUE IF THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION.

FCA (JEEP CHRYSLER) HAS ISSUED A NOTIFICATION TO OWNERS VIA V88: "THE REAR QUARTER WINDOWS VERTICAL RETAINER ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY NOT BE PROPERLY INSTALLED TO THE DOOR RAIL AFTER REMOVAL. THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE THE SOFT TOP REAR QUARTER WINDOW PANELS TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS." THIS VERY SITUATION ACTUALLY OCCURRED IN OUR VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED (I.E. THE SPEED LIMIT) ON I95 IN VIRGINIA ON 3/3/20. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE REAR QUARTER PANEL BLEW OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE NOISE WAS SO STARTLING, IT IS AMAZING THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, NO OTHER MOTORIST WAS IMPACTED BY THE DISLODGED WINDOW (THIS TIME). HOWEVER, AS THIS WAS IN THE EVENING ON A HIGH-SPEED INTERSTATE, IT WAS NOT SAFE TO PULL OVER AND TRY TO RETRIEVE THE WINDOW FROM THE DRIVING LANES SO, WE ARE NOT CERTAIN THAT THE DISLODGED WINDOW DID NOT THEN PRESENT A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD TO OTHER MOTORISTS. HERE IS THE LINK TO THE FCA V88 NOTICE: HTTPS://WWW.CHRYSLER.COM/UNIVERSAL/WEBSELFSERVICE/PDF/V88.PDF I AM TRYING TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT FROM FCA TO REPLACE THE WINDOW BUT THEY REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INCIDENT. THE GREATER CONCERN IS THAT IT COULD HAPPEN TO US AGAIN AND, MORE THAN LIKELY, WILL HAPPEN TO MANY OTHER DRIVERS OF SIMILAR VEHICLES. I SUSPECT NOT ALL CASES WILL HAVE OUTCOMES WHERE NO ONE WILL BE INJURED (OR KILLED).

VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN APPROX 30MPH ON A CITY ROAD WHEN A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LUCKILY A STRANGER FOLLOWING BEHIND QUICKLY ESCORTED THE DRIVER OUT AS THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WENT UP IN FLAMES. METAL CHUNKS AND PIECES COULD BE HEARD FALLING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY EXPLODED AND EJECTED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SHEARING THE INPUT SHAFT AND RUPTURING A FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS A COMPLETE TOTAL LOSS WITH FLAMES IMMEDIATELY ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN IN SECONDS. IF IT WAS NOT FOR A BRAVE BYSTANDER SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. THIS IS A NEW TRANSMISSION INTRODUCED IN THE NEW JL WRANGLER AND GLADIATOR AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE. IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT JEEP REFUSES TO LOOK INTO AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY. TRANSMISSION EXPLOSION TO THIS DEGREE NOT ONLY CAN RESULT IN A FIRE BUT ALSO METAL PROJECTILES HITTING BYSTANDERS AND COMING THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARDS AND POSSIBLY RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH. IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND HAVE A MANUAL JEEP WRANGLER HAVE IT CHECKED IMMEDIATELY! THIS WAS A COMPLETELY UNKNOWN PROBLEM SHOWING NO SYMPTOMS WHATSOEVER.*JB

MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AFTER DRIVING OVER SOME SMALL BUMPS ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING 60-65 MPH. I HAD TO PULL MY CAR OVER. I THOUGHT I BLEW A TIRE, BUT I DID NOT. WHEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE ON A CAR HOIST, UNSATISFACTORY WELDS ON THE CHASSIS WERE IDENTIFIED. THE WELDS OCCURRED AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS AND INCLUDED DEFECTS SUCH AS EXCESSIVE POROSITY, EXCESSIVE WELD SPATTER, AND OFF LOCATION OF THE ORIGINAL WELD AND TOUCH UP WELDS. I AM NOT A CERTIFIED WELD INSPECTOR, HOWEVER I AM A STATE CERTIFIED WELDER, AND FEDERALLY LICENSED AIRCRAFT MECHANIC. I HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO IDENTIFY WELD DEFECTS, AND UNDERSTAND EFFECTS THEY HAVE ON STRUCTURAL STRENGTH. FOR BEING A ROBOTICALLY WELDED FRAME I FOUND THE QUALITY OF SOME WELDS UNACCEPTABLE, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSED QUALITY CONTROL AT THE FACTORY. I AM NOT AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER, NOR AM I A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, HOWEVER I ASSUME THAT THE STRUCTURAL STRENGTH OF THE FRAME IN THIS STATE IS LESS OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGN STRENGTH. BACK IN OCTOBER 2019, I RENTED A NEW JEEP WRANGLER FROM ENTERPRISE FOR A TRIP TO CHICAGO FOR WORK. WHILE BOTH TRAVELING TO AND FROM CHICAGO, I HAD TWO INSTANCES WHILE TRAVELING ON ROUTE 80 IN OHIO, WHERE I WENT OVER SMALL BUMPS, AND THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. ON THE RETURN TRIP HOME, I ACTUALLY HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SLOW DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP. WHEN RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO ENTERPRISE, I INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED. THEY THEN STATED THEY GET A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WRNAGLER AND WOULD TAKE SOME MONEY OFF OF MY BILL. I TOLD THEM THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND, AND THAT THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT MY WIFE HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND IF THIS HAPPENED IN HER CAR, I WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO DRIVE IT. FAST FORWARD TO THE NIGHT OF 12/6/2019. WHILE TRAVELING TO MY WIFE'S CHRISTMAS PARTY (IN HER 2018 JEEP WRANGLER) ON ROUTE 680 NORTHBOUND AT 60 MPH, I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE STEERING WHEEL ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. WE THEN HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN ORDER TO GET THIS SHAKING TO STOP. I LOOKED OVER AT HER AND SAID THAT THIS CAN IN NO WAY BE NORMAL. SHE THEN INFORMED ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HER A FEW TIMES AS WELL. THERE IS NO WAY THIS CANNOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE, AND I DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT MY WIFE DRIVING THIS CAR.

BACKUP CAMERA RANDOMLY DOES NOT WORK. SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL WORK BUT WITHOUT THE GUIDELINES. AND SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA WILL NOT WORK AT ALL, ONLY SHOWING THE NAVIGATION GPS SCREEN COMPLETELY BLACK. IT MALFUNCTIONS LIKE THIS WHILE BACKING UP IN MY GARAGE, OR BACKING UP INTO A PARKING SPOT IN A PARKING GARAGE OR ON A CITY STREET. I WAS INFORMED BY TWO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVES THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS IT IS NOT WORKING WHEN I BRING IT IN, SO THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. OF COURSE, IT ALWAYS WORKS PROPERLY WHEN I BRING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE VIDEOS FROM MY IPHONE WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WERE SORRY AND CAN'T DIAGNOSIS IT WITH THE VIDEO, AND THAT IT HAS TO BE IN THE MALFUNCTION MODE AT THAT TIME BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CURRENTLY HAVE AROUND 8,600 MILES ON MY 2018 JEEP JL SAHARA WRANGLER AND THIS PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 4,500 MILES OR MAYBE SLIGHTLY LESS. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING! I SPECIFICALLY PAID EXTRA FOR THIS JEEP MODEL TO GET THE BACKUP CAMERA. AND IT ONLY WORKS PROPERLY ABOUT 60% OF THE TIME! I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL WORK PROPERLY OR WHEN IT WILL NOT WORK AT ALL.
WHILE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-275 TO TAMPA FROM SARASOTA WITH MY WIFE AND NEWBORN SON, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AFTER GOING OVER A BUMPY PART OF THE ROAD AROUND A CURVE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL I PULLED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SLOW 10-15 MPH.
Mileage: 6,844
JUST GOT ONTO HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 72 MPH, HIT A SMALL BUMP AND CAR STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING (FREQUENTLY REFERRED TO AS DEATH WOBBLE). ONCE I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE WOBBLE WENT AWAY. THIS HAPPENED THE DAY AFTER I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN DAMPER WHICH SUPPOSEDLY CAUSED THIS PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE RECALL. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO DAYS LATER AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT BUT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT BACK IN. THEY TOLD ME MY WHEELS WERE SLIGHTLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED IT BUT THERE IS NO WAY; THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH, IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH A SLIGHTLY OFF ALIGNMENT.

HAD THE RECALL FOR THE STEERING DAMPENER DONE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. EXPERIENCING EXTREME VIBRATION AND JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE AFTER GOING OVER MINOR IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD. ONLINE RESEARCH FINDS IT TO BE THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WHERE I HAVE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BELOW AROUND 40MPH. HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE GETTING THE RECALL. DID NOT HAPPEN PRIOR TO THE RECALL.

ON 9/30/19 AT 4:30AM, ODOMETER READING OF 170 MILES, WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, APPROX 70 MPH, ON I-295, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. IT WAS UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL MY SPEED REDUCED TO 35 MPH. AT 35 MPH THE SHAKING BEGAN TO SUBSIDE WHILE I CONTINUED TO SLOW TO A STOP. THE INCIDENT APPEARED TO BE TRIGGERED BY A SLIGHT BUMP OR SEAM IN THE PAVEMENT. ON 9/30/19 THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT CHERRY HILL DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP, 1708 W. MARLTON PIKE, CHERRY HILL NJ 08002. THEY DETERMINED CAUSE TO BE FAULTY STEERING DAMPER AND REPLACED IT WITH PART NUMBER 68251580AD WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS AN IMPROVED PART OVER THE ORIGINAL. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED. THEN ON 11/3/19 AT 9:30PM, ODOMETER READING 1,490 MILES THE VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURRED AGAIN. CIRCUMSTANCES WERE THE SAME, TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, APPROX 70 MPH, HAD TO REDUCE SPEED TO STOP THE SHAKING, AGAIN ON I-295 BUT DIFFERENT LOCATION, AGAIN APPARENTLY TRIGGERED BY A SLIGHT BUMP OR SEAM IN THE PAVEMENT.

JUST HAD THE STEERING DAMPER RECALL PERFORMED - NEVER HAD ANY WOBBLE ISSUES BEFORE COMPLETING THE RECALL. I COMPLETED THE RECALL AS I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT GOOD CAR OWNERS DO. NOW, JUST 3 DAYS LATER I AM EXPERIENCING THE WOBBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY SCARY! HAD THE ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE CAR COMING HOME FROM DINNER - DID NOT HIT ANY IRREGULAR BUMPS OR ANYTHING OUT OF THE NORM. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON A STRETCH WE DRIVE ALMOST DAILY AND OUT OF NOWHERE, JUST HITTING SOME "NORMAL" MICHIGAN ROAD BUMPS THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED ITSELF - BUT THEN HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON AS WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE OR EVEN WHY THERE WAS A RECALL REPAIR. AFTER GETTING HOME AND SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND ALL SORTS OF COMPLAINTS AND THE REASONING BEHIND THE RECALL. IRONICALLY AGAIN, I DID NOT HAVE THE ISSUE BEFORE I HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED. AFTER READING THE ARTICLE I IMMEDIATELY LEFT A MESSAGE FOR MY SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN LOOKED UNDER THE JEEP TO CONFIRM THAT IN-FACT THE PART WAS REPLACED AND HAD THE CORRECT PART NUMBER. I DO WANT TO MENTION THAT EVEN BEFORE THE WOBBLE I DID MENTION TO MY WIFE AND NOTICE THAT I THOUGHT THAT THE STEERING WAS A BIT MORE "LOOSE" AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK. NOT SURE IF THAT IS RELEVANT, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD NOTE THAT HERE AS WELL.

WANDERING AND LOOSE STEERING ISSUE PERSIST. 1. STEERING WANDERING FIRST WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND IT HAD TO BE REDONE. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED THAN WAS INFORMED THAT WRANGLERS AREN'T MEANT TO GO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. 2. AC BLOWS OUT WARM AIR AND WAS TOLD THAT'S NORMAL. TODAY I BROUGHT IN FOR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE AND 3. STEERING DAMPER RECALL. WELL GOOD THING I DOUBLE CHECKED THEIR WORK. THEY INSTALLED THE REPLACEMENT RECALLED PART THE WRONG WAY. NOW THE JEEP WANDERING IS WORSE AND THE VEHICLE SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WE CAN'T KEEP THE JEEP STRAIGHT.

ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2019, WE WERE TOWING OUR JEEP WRANGLER BEHIND OUR 25 FOOT COACHMAN PRISM RV ON HIGHWAY 95 IN MARYLAND. WE HIT A BUMP IN THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AND OUR RV WAS SHAKING SO BAD AND SOUNDED LIKE WE HAD A FLAT TIRE. THE SHAKING WOULDN'T STOP SO WITHIN A HALF MILE WE MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND STOP. WE GOT OUT AND CHECKED ALL THE TIRES BECAUSE WE THOUGHT WE HAD A FLAT TIRE. NOTHING WAS WRONG. WE CONTINUED ON A TRIP ABOUT 5 MILES FURTHER UP THE ROAD IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME. THIS TIME WE COULDN'T PULL OVER BUT WE SLOW DOWN AND THE SHAKING WENT AWAY. WE REACHED OUR DESTINATION AND MET UP WITH FAMILY AND BEFORE WE COULD TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED MY SISTER WHO HAD JUST BOUGHT A JEEP WRANGLER TWO WEEKS EARLIER ASKED IF WE HAD HEARD ABOUT THE DEATH WOBBLE. I WENT ONLINE AND LEARNED ABOUT THE DEATH WOBBLE AND I'M CERTAIN THIS IS WHAT WAS OCCURRING TO OUR JEEP WHILE BEING TOWED. WE HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE DAMPER AS A RECALL AND THIS STILL OCCURRED. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND OVER THE WEEKEND THEY'RE REPLACING SOME BARS UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF THE JEEP. THE REASON FOR MY REPORTING THIS IS I LEARNED THAT THE DAMPER BEING REPLACED IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FIX AND SINCE WE ALREADY HAD IT REPLACED BUT DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE REPLACING IT MONTHS AGO IT'S STILL OCCURRED TO OUR JEEP.
Mileage: 4,600
I PURCHASED MY 'NEW' 2018 JL JEEP WRANGLER/RUBICON LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO. IT HAS UNDER 1400 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE HAD TO GET OUT AND CHECK MY TIRES NUMEROUS TIMES THINKING ONE WAS FLAT BECAUSE IT WAS PULLING TO ONE SIDE. IT IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL AND IT LOOKS LIKE I AM INTOXICATED WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IT LOOKS LIKE ONE RECALL ON THE STEERING DAMPER WAS REPLACED BEFORE THE PURCHASE, BUT NOT EVEN SURE IF IT WAS REALLY REPLACED. THE LEFT REAR SHOCK WAS LEAKING AND SUPPOSABLY REPLACED TOO. UNDER WARRANTY OF COURSE. I WILL BE CONTACTING A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TOMORROW AND CALLING JEEP. I WANT THEM TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT, STEERING AND MAKE SURE THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED PROPERLY. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP THAN THE ONE THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. I AM DEVASTATED AND WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY, MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ON THE RODE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I WILL ALSO BE HAVING A SPECIALIST CHECKING THE WELDS AS WELL AFTER READING THROUGH THESE COMPLAINTS. WITH WINTER ON ITS WAY, I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT. IT WILL BE SCARY ON TREACHEROUS WINTER ROADS. I ALSO WAS DRIVING AN AVG OF 68 ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY AND WENT OVER A SMALL SMOOTH BUMP IN THE ROAD... THE KIND THAT MAKES YOUR STOMACH TICKLE.... I ABOUT LOST CONTROL. IT IS SO HARD TO KEEP IN YOUR DRIVING LANE. I HAVE DROVE A JEEP SINCE 2010 AND ALWAYS SAID I WOULDN'T BUY ANYTHING ELSE. I REALLY HOPE CHRYSLER WILL TAKE CARE OF THEIR JEEP FAMILY AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. MAKES ME SICK TO THINK I JUST SPENT $43000 ON A VEHICLE I SHOULDN'T DRIVE. THE PREMIUM AUDIO IS ALSO 'NOT PREMIUM'.... AWFUL. VARIOUS SPEEDS, VARIOUS MILEAGE AT TIME OF EVENTS- NOTICE RIGHT AWAY AFTER PURCHASE, HOWEVER THOUGHT I JUST NEEDED TO GET USE TO DRIVING A NEW VEHICLE.

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. FROM INCORRECT WELDS (WHICH THE DEALERSHIP DEEMED AS OKAY UNTIL I HAD A THIRD-PARTY LOOK AT THEM) TO STEERING ISSUES (WOBBLE, DRIFT, ETC.), IT'S BEEN A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I'M STUCK PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT HOLD ITS VALUE OVER TIME AND AM SO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT THAT I'VE ONLY PUT 1,600 MILES ON THE VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN AUGUST OF 2018. IF I COULD HAVE ONE WISH, IT WOULD BE TO PULL THIS VEHICLE FROM THE MARKET AND REQUEST THAT FCA DOES A FULL BUYBACK FOR VEHICLES WITH RECALLED ISSUES. THEY ARE LYING TO THE NHTSA, THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND SHAREHOLDERS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT START. AFTER DRIVING AROUND TOWN FOR ERRANDS OVER THE COURSE OF 3-7 DAYS, IT SUDDENLY WON'T START. IT WILL EVENTUALLY START AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 25-40 MINUTES. THIS BEGAN A FEW DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN APRIL 2019 AND HAS CONTINUED SINCE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW, (AFTER FINALLY NEGOTIATING A PAID RENTAL FROM THEM) BUT THEY ARE NOT DRIVING IT ENOUGH TO RECREATE THE TRIGGER IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE AND FIX IT. I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN FEB 2018. WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS. A COWORKER PURCHASED A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE. SHE RETURNED IT IN TWO MONTHS BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START. ANOTHER COWORKER'S GIRLFRIEND PURCHASED A 2018 RUBICON WITH ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS, STARTING ISSUES, AND RADIO NOT WORKING. MY VEHICLE HISTORY: REAR DEFROSTER SENSOR ON BACK WINDOW DOES NOT STAY SECURED. 4TH RETURN TO DEALER. SECOND WINDOW TO BE REPLACED. PANEL LIGHT FOR REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CONTINUES TO LIGHT, BUT SENSOR IS NOT CONNECTED. HAVE BEEN ON WAIT LIST SINCE MARCH 2019 FOR NEW WINDOW TO ARRIVE. IT APPEARS THE SENSOR CORD IS TOO SHORT TO REACH WINDOW WHEN RAISING. DEATH WOBBLE HAS HAPPENED 3X WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 3X FOR THIS ISSUE. VEHICLE DOES NOT CORRECT ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AND IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS COMING APART. HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SLOWING DOWN DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, UNTIL I REACHED A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. ONCE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT CORRECTED ITSELF. THE JEEP LOOSES TOTAL CONTROL AND I AM AFRAID SOMETHING MAY COME APART CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. FREEDOM TOPS HAD RATTLE INSIDE OF THEM WITH HUGE WIND NOISE WHEN IN MOTION. PROBLEM CORRECTED WHEN DEALERSHIP SWITCHED OUT FREEDOM TOPS. NOW THE FREEDOM TOP IS TOO BIG FOR FREEDOM BAG. THE BAG APPEARS TO BE COMING APART WHEN ZIPPED. DROVE TO STORE AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TRIED TO REMOTE LOCK THE VEHICLE, WHICH FAILED. TRIED TO START JEEP, IT WOULD NOT START. FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS ON PANEL TO USE KEY BY PLACING CLOSE TO REMOTE START BUTTON. AFTER A SECOND TRY IT STARTED. RADIO PLAYING TWO STATIONS AT ONE TIME. BACK CAMERA WOULD NOT WORK. KEY FOB REPLACED AS IT WAS FALLING APART. ARMREST REPLACED, WOULD NOT CONNECT WHEN ENCLOSED IN HOLDER. ALL BEGAN IN 2/2018. DATE I AM ABOUT TO ENTER BELOW IS FOR THE WOBBLE.

I HAVE A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL AND SINCE I GOT THE TRUCK IN JULY 2018, THERE HAS BEEN AT LEAST 10 TIMES DURING WHICH I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING OVER 50 MILES PER HOUR WHERE I WILL HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. IT HAPPENED 2 TIMES TODAY DURING A 2 HOUR DRIVE. IT CAN LAST FOR OVER A MINUTE AND I NEED TO SLOW DOWN CONSIDERABLY TO GET IT TO STOP.

MY VEHICLE HAS UNDER 3000 MILES. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT IN ONCE TO SEE A DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WHEN GOING 50MPH OR HIGHER, AFTER I HIT A BUMP, MY STEER WHEEL WILL VIBRATE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS THEN STOP. TWICE NOW, AFTER HITTING A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING OVER 50 MPH AND SURROUNDED BY TRAFFIC, THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE FIRST TIME IT LASTED ABOUT 10 SECONDS. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO DEALER AND THEIR PAPERWORK SAYS THAT THE STEERING DAMPENER WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND TIME JUST HAPPENED BUT LUCKILY IT ONLY LASTED 2 SECONDS. BOTH TIMES IT ONLY STOPPED SHAKING AFTER I SLOWED DOWN UNDER 50 MPH WHILE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHICH HAS CARS GOING 70 MPH. THIS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I'VE BEEN READING ON FORUMS AND I'M NOT THE ONLY DRIVER EXPERIENCING THIS. PLEASE MAKE THIS AWARE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR EVEN KILLED DUE TO THIS DEFECT.

CURRENTLY I HAVE TWO ISSUES I BELIEVE MY 2018 WRANGLER JL TO BE EXPERIENCING. THE FIRST IS A CONSTANT CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE, MAINLY IN THE REAR. THIS OCCURS AT SLOW SPEEDS (10MPH OR LESS). THE DEALER REPLACED MY REAR AXLE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE I AM ABLE TO FILL MY FUEL TANK TO THE PROPER CAPACITY. ( HAVE A 4-DOOR JL) FROM 'LOW MILEAGE' WARNING TO FULL, TYPICALLY I GET ABOUT 16 GALLONS.

MY JEEP IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE JEEP WILL ONLY DRIVE OK IF YOU DRIVE ON A L NEWLY PAVED AND TOTALLY FLAT SURFACE. - WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP THERE IS AN EXTENDED VIBRATION, QUESTIONABLE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND THE CAR LITERALLY JUMPS LANE AND MOVES SIDE TO SIDE WITHOUT HAVING ANY CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND REPEATEDLY EACH TIME I DRIVE. THE JEEP ALSO HAS THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE - THE CRAZY VIBRATION OF THE WHOLE CAR. BOTH ISSUES ARE WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR.. THE FRONT END VIBRATIONS TRANSITION INTO THE VEHICLE JUMPING LANES AND MOVEMENT THAT VARIES IN SEVERITY DUE TO SPEEDS. IT IS VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER'S SPECIAL REGIONAL TECH HAVE CONFIRMED THIS ISSUE. IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION, ON ANY STREET, AT ANY SPEED, WHETHER DRIVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING - IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, AT ANY MOMENT WITH NO NOTICE. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY YOU DRIVE THE CAR SO HARD BUT I PUT IN TODAYS DATE BC YOU ASKED FOR A DATE. IT DID HAPPEN TODAY FOR CHRYSLERS SPECIAL REGIONAL TECH TOO. IT ALSO HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT IS WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS.

STEERING IS LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE ,JEEP WONDERS INTO LANES ON HIGHWAYS, HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT, CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL INPUT NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER HITTING SOME PUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT WHEELS SHAKE AND THE STEERING WHEEL OCCILATES , IN SOME CASE VILANTLY CAUSEING TEMPORARILY LOSE IN CONTROL OF JEEP. CAN TURN STEERING WHEEL SEVERAL INCHES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WITHOUT THE WHEELS TURNING.UNKNOWN AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE WHO THOUGHT I WAS A DRUNK DRIVER DUE TO NOT MAINTAINING A STRAIGHT LINE. ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR, HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK AND STEERING WHEEL OCCILATED AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN MY LANE, WAS PULLED OVER BY DRIVER IN OTHER CAR AS WE THOUGHT WE HAD STRUCK BUT LUCKILY NOT, MY DEALER HAS ALREADY REPLACED SEVARAL PARTS BUT THEY CANNOT FIX PROBLEM...STILL AT DEALER WITH NO HOPE OF BEING FIXED

NEW 2018 WRANGLER JL SPORT WITH 1500 MILES. REPORTING THAT WHEN I RIDE OVER A BUMP, SUCH AS A TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO AN OVERPASS, AT A SPEED GREATER THAN 55 OR 60 MPH, THE FRONT END VIOLENTLY SHAKES / WOBBLES AS WHAT I HEAR OTHER DESCRIBE AS A DEATH WOBBLE. THIS FORCES ME TO REDUCE SPEED TO AS LOW AS 20 MPH FOR THE WOBBLE TO CEASE. THIS HAPPENS EACH DAY AS I DRIVE THE SAME ROUTE TO WORK AND THEREFORE DRIVE OVER THE SAME OVERPASS. RELEVANT IS THAT THE BUMP WITHIN THE TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO OVERPASS IS NOT WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER A SIGNIFICANT BUMP.

I AM A MEMBER OF THE WRANGLER JL FORUMS AND MANY OWNERS ARE REPORTING THIS - HTTPS://WWW.JLWRANGLERFORUMS.COM/FORUM/THREADS/OOO-OOO-THAT-SMELL.16580/. JEEP EGOLF IN BREVARD, NC VERIFIED MY LEAK AND COMPLETED A HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT THIS MONTH. FIAT CHRYSLER CORPORATE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THIS COMPLAINT AND THERE IS A CASE # 572-46-618 ON RECORD. ACTION MUST BE TAKEN TO MAKE SURE THERE AREN'T DRIVERS OUT THERE INHALING THIS DURING DRIVING WHICH COULD LEAD TO HEADACHE AND NAUSEA, POTENTIALLY AFFECTING DRIVER SAFETY AND JUDGEMENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT HWY SPEEDS AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE JEEP START TO WOBBLE VIOLENTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO SLOW DOWN TO 35-40 MPR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY. INITIALLY FELT LIKE A FLAT TIRE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT REPLICATE THE WOBBLE AND CHECKED "EVERYTHING" THIS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS, 5 PEOPLE IN THE CAR AND DOG IN THE BAG. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE IS NOT A FIX FOR THIS ESPECIALLY IN A NEW MODEL JL. I PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JUNE AND HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATION TO THE JEEP.IF SOMEONE WAS TO PANIC DURING THIS EVENT IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING.

I THEN MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY WHERE IT WILL RE-SET AND I CONTINUE ON. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH AND TWICE YESTERDAY. MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER HAS 4500 MILES AND I HAVE NOT MADE ANY MODIFICATIONS ON IT SINCE THE JUNE 2018 PURCHASE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ENTIRE JEEP SHAKES RATHER VIOLENTLY AND IS AN IMMEDIATE CONCERN AND DRIVING DISTRACTION.
Mileage: 4,500
DEATH WOBBLE. BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2018 JEEP SAHARA IN JUNE. 12/1/2018 HIT A BUMPY ROAD AND WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE. IT DID IT TWICE MORE LATER THAT DAY ON 12/2 IT DID THIS AGAIN. ALL AT SPEED 55-80 THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT IS HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE. YOUR HANDS WILL BE NUMB AFTER TRYING TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL.
Mileage: 9,000
MISSING WELDS AND VERY POOR AND INCOMPLETE WELDS ON THE FRAME HORNS. WAS REPLACING FRONT BUMPER AND NOTICED A WELD THAT BURNED RIGHT THROUGH THE METAL IN THE FRAME AND LEFT A HOLE THROUGH THE METAL ALLOWING THE WEATHER AND ELEMENTS TO PENETRATE THE INSIDE OF THE FRAME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I ALSO FOUND INCOMPLETE WELDS AND WELDS THAT WERE MISSING COMPLETELY ON ONE FRAME HORN THAT WERE ALL PRESENT ON THE EXACT SAME FRAME HORN LOCATED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRAME. ON THE FRAME HORN MISSING THE WELDS, THE METAL PLATES SUPPORTING THE FRAME HORN WERE NOT FLUSH OR EVEN, THE PLATE WAS CROOKED. ON THE FRAME HORN WHERE THE WELDS WERE PRESENT, THE PLATE WAS FLUSH AND EVEN. THIS IS THE LOCATION WHERE THE BUMPER IS BOLTED TO THE FRAME TO PROTECT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE WELDS COULD NOT BE SEEN UNLESS THE BUMPER WAS REMOVED

WHITH ONLY 6,OOO MILES ON MY WRANGLER I NOTICED SOME SLIGHT SHIMMYING WHILE DRIVING ON THE MAIN ROADS THEN WHEN I GOT ON THE EXPRESSWAY I HAD JUST REACHED ABOUT 65MPH AND MY JEEP STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY WHICH FORCED ME TO PULL OVER AND CALL A TOW TRUCK. IT TOOK ALMOST TWO MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN ( STEARING DAMPER) AND 2 TRIES FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD IT BACK ONE WEEK .
Mileage: 6,000
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS STEERING SEEMS LOOSE AND NOT VERY RESPONSIVE. IT TAKES A GOOD DEAL OF TURN IN THE WHEEL FOR IT TO MOVE THE WHEELS A LITTLE. IF YOU HAVE TO MOVE QUICKLY THE WHEEL DOES NOT REACT. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IF YOU NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY AND MOVE THE WHEEL IT DOES NOT RESPOND, IN MY OPTION THE STEERING IS TOO LOOSE AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY RESISTANCE BEHIND THE WHEEL AND IS DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
Mileage: 5,000
EXTREME WOBBLE AND SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH CONTINUES WELL PAST THE ROAD IMPERFECTIONS THAT CAUSED THE SPECIFIC TYPE OF SUSPENSION TRAVEL. STARTED UNDER 1000 MILES. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES EVERY WORKDAY - CAN BE REPLICATED. THIS VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND BRAND NEW. IF DRIVING AROUND A SLIGHT TURN WITH SMALL BUMPS THE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND KEEPS SHAKING FOR 20-30 SECONDS UNTIL THE TRAVELING SPEED IS REDUCED TO 50 MPH WHICH IS NOT A SAFE SPEED AT TIMES. 2 STEADY HANDS MUST BE ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND CHANGING LANES IS NOT POSSIBLE. HAD TO MAKE AN AVOIDANCE MANEUVER DURING THE SHAKING AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY. UNKNOWN COMPONENTS AND PARTS CAUSE THE EXTREME SHAKING/WOBBLING. THIS STATEMENT IS TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM; THERE WILL BE VIDEOS AND REPAIR INVOICES IN THE FUTURE BUT SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE TOLD ME THERE ARE NO FIXES FOR THE PROBLEM CALLED DEATH WOBBLE. I AM CURRENTLY ON A "WAITING LIST" FOR A REPAIR ATTEMPT. I WILL CALL FOR AN UPDATE WITH THE DEALERSHIP 11/30/18. THE TIRES ARE STOCK AND AT PROPER PRESSURE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLE.
Mileage: 600
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE WHEN I DRIVE MY JEEP ON THE FREEWAY. IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING, I HAVE TO WHIP KNUCKLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE AND NOT SWERVE OUT OF THE LANE. THE SHAKE IS SO VIOLENT IT FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. I HAVE BROUGHT MY JEEP IN TWICE ALREADY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT AND AM VERY CONCERNED THAT JEEP IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE.
Mileage: 16,450
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING AROUND A BEND AT 65 MILES AN HOUR, THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT FELT LIKE THE JEEP WAS GOING TO FALL APART RIGHT UNDER ME. IT STOPPED SHAKING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO AROUND 35 MILES. IT WAS TOED TO A DEALERSHIP. IT ONLY HAS 3100 MILES & 4 MONTHS OLD. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE BUT STILL AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
Mileage: 3,100
THE JEEP BEGINS TO SHAKE AND EVENTUALLY WOBBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ONSET IS QUICKLY AND DOES NOT TYPICALLY GO AWAY WITHOUT DRASTIC REDUCTION IN SPEED. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE PAT WEEK. I HAVE A VIDEO SHOWING THE EVENT BUT AM UNABLE TO UPLOAD. IT STARTS WITH A SMALL SHAKING AND THEN INCREASES IN INTENSITY TO A ROCKING OF THE VEHICLE WITH STEERING STABILITY ISSUES.
Mileage: 10
MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL EXPERIENCED THE JEEP "DEATH WOBBLE" ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH AFTER RUNNING OVER MINOR PAVEMENT IMPERFECTIONS. THE WOBBLE WAS SO SEVERE EACH TIME I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY ONTO THE BERM AND COME TO A COMPLETE STANDSTILL FOR THE WOBBLE TO STOP. THE WOBBLE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES IN THREE DAYS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 03/30/2018. THE DEATH WOBBLE MANIFESTED IN EARLY OCTOBER, 2018. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WITHIN A WEEK. THE ONLY PROBLEM DISCOVERED WAS THE TIRES WERE ALL OUT OF BALANCE. THE DEALER BALANCED THE TIRES. TODAY IS NOVEMBER 20. SO FAR, THE DEATH WOBBLE HAS NOT REOCCURRED.
Mileage: 11,000
VEHICLE HITS SMALL BUMP IN ROAD (HAPPENS WHILE ON SIDE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS) AND STEERING WHEEL/TIRES BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. MUST SLOW VEHICLE SIGNIFICANTLY TO STOP SHAKING. FEELS AS THOUGH I HAVE A FLAT TIRE OR A TIRE IS ABOUT TO COME LOOSE.
Mileage: 8,000
EXCESSIVE VIBRATION ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN HITTING THE SMALLEST OF BUMPS. DOES NOT NECESSARILY NEED TO BE AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED. STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PH. DO NOT RECALL HITTING ANY BUMP. BROUGHT IN TO DEALERSHIP 11/16 - THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. ONLY HAS 10K MILES. HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN TOTAL.
WHEN DRIVING OUR NEW 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL SPORT, THAT HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHAT IS COME TO BE KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT BEGAN AROUND THE 5,000 MILE RANGE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN WE HIT A POTHOLE, EXPANSION JOINT OR QUITE HONESTLY ANY ABNORMALITY IN THE ROAD AND THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM 40 MPH OR HIGHER. JUST RECENTLY I WAS GOING 65 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND CLIPPED A POTHOLE AND IT FELT LIKE MY JEEP WAS GOING TO FALL APART. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE WOBBLE IS TO APPLY THE BRAKES. WHEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AT 65 MPH THE DANGERS ARE TREMENDOUS IN HAVING TO DO THIS. OUR JEEP IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE.
Mileage: 5,000
THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF COOLANT COMING FROM THE AC VENTS . ONE DAY WE SAW A PUFF OF WHITE SMOKE COME OUT OF THE AC VENT . AFTER THAT WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE HEATER CORE . THE STRONG SMELL OF COOLANT IS STILL PRESENT IN THE VENTS . THE SMELL IS ALWAYS THERE BUT GETS STRONGER AT TIMES , SO STRONG WE NEED TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN.

DROVE INTO THE GAS STATION, PUT MY JEEP IN PARK, PUT THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON, TURNED IT OFF AND PROCEEDED TO FILL UP THE TANK, I DID NOT TOP THE TANK OFF, GOT BACK IN MY JEEP STARTED IT BACK UP, ENGINE STARTED FINE, RELEASED EMERGENCY BREAK PUT JEEP IN DRIVE PUT FOOT ON GAS TO PROCEED OUT OF THE GAS STATION JEEP PULLED OUT OF THE GAS BAY AND I DROVE FORWARD SLOWLY, WHILE TURNING LEFT OUT OF THE BAY. I DROVE FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS ABOUT 20 FEET. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE JEEP CAME TO A STOP AND SHUT OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE FORWARD AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN IT JUST REMAINED STATIONARY.. ALL ELECTRONICS STILL WORKED IN THE CAR. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED ON MY HAZARDS TURNED THE JEEP OFF AND THEN BACK ON, AND ENGINE WAS NOT STARTING. TURNED IT ON AND OFF 3 MORE TIMES AND FINALLY THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP ON THE 4TH TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED AGAIN, BUT I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT OTHER THAN 20 MILES BACK HOME WHERE IT NOW IS SITTING WAITING TO GO TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP.

JEEP FRAME WELDS HAVE A LOT OF POROSITY AND SLAG. MANY OF THE WELDS ALL OVER THE FRAME DO NOT APPEAR TO BE COMPLETE AND LOOK UNSAFE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO THE JEEP AND WAS THIS WAY FROM THE FACTORY. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT CRASH SAFETY STRENGTH AND LONGEVITY IF WELDS START TO RUST AND DETERIORATE.
I HAVE A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON WITH FRAME WELDS THAT EXHIBIT EXCESSIVE POROSITY AND IN SOME CASES, OFF LOCATION. I HAVE VISITED TWO SEPARATE DEALERS A TOTAL OF THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE THIRD TIME WAS A CHARM AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR AGREED THAT THE FRAME WELDS WERE NOT "IN SPEC" ACCORDING TO FCA'S STAR BULLETIN S1813000001. I WAS TOLD THAT DIRECTION WOULD HAVE TO BE GIVEN FROM FCA ON WHAT TO DO AND THAT THE ADVISOR DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE WELDS COULD BE PROPERLY REPAIRED. IT HAS NOW BEEN MORE THAN 3 WEEKS SINCE I HAVE HEARD ANYTHING. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF MY NEW JEEP IS SAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT. IN ADDITION TO THE DEALERSHIPS, I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED JEEP CARES AND MIKE MANLEY'S OFFICE WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO.
THERE HAS BEEN A MAJOR RECALL RELATED TO THE TRACK BAR WELDS ON THE JL MODEL WRANGLERS AND WHEN I SEARCH MY VIN IT IS NOT INCLUDED BUT MANY OF THE WELDS ON MY FRAME ARE RUSTING ALREADY AND APPEAR TO BE "BAD" WELDS. I AM A PROFESSIONAL WELDER AND I KNOW WHAT A GOOD WELD LOOKS LIKE. PLEASE HELP ME ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH THE MANY "BAD" WELDS ON MY BRAND NEW JEEP.
Mileage: 1
FRAME WELDS ARE PITTED, RUSTING, INCOMPLETE, AND HAVE NUMEROUS INCLUSIONS AND POROSITY. THIS IS ALL OVER THE FRAME. INCLUDED IS A PICTURE OF A WELD ON A BODY MOUNT. APPEARS TO BE CRACKED. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND JEEP BOTH LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND SAY IT IS SAFE AND NORMAL.
Mileage: 7,000
THE WELDS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION ARE HORRIBLE. THERE ARE LARGE PIECES OF SLAG WHEREVER THERE ARE WELDS. THERE ARE ALREADY PLACES WHERE SOME SLAG HAS FALLEN OFF AND SPOTS HAVE STARTED TO RUST. THE ENTIRE FRAME HAS SLAG ON IT AND HUGE MESSY WELDS. THERE ARE WELDS MISSING ALONG THE FRAME. THE FRAME WAS DENTED AND HIT WITH SOMETHING BEFORE BEING INSTALLED. ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN LEAD TO WEAKENING IN THE METAL OR FAILURE IN THE WELDS.
I GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER, ADJUSTED MY SEAT FOR OPTIMAL COMFORT, VISIBILITY, AND HANDS / FEET POSITION FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN NOTICED THAT THE DESIGN / POSITION OF THE DASH OBSTRUCTED THE VIEW OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER (AMONG OTHER INFO) WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION (I WAS NOT IN MOTION). THIS OBVIOUSLY CAN CAUSE ISSUES WITH SAFE OPERATION. I POSTED THIS OBSERVATION IN A JEEP WRANGLER FORUM TO SEE IF I'M THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY THE POLL SITS AT 53% OF USERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SEE HERE: HTTPS://WWW.JLWRANGLERFORUMS.COM/FORUM/THREADS/POLL-IN-YOUR-BEST-SEATING-POSITION-IS-YOUR-VIEW-OF-THE-WRANGLERS-DASH-GAUGES-CUT-OFF-IN-ANY-WAY.15958/#POST-390053
JEEP HAS BAD WELDS THROUGHOUT THE FRAME POSING SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK NOT ONLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BUT EVEN MORE SO IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. A LARGE MAJORITY OF BAD WELDS ARE IN STRUCTURAL AREAS. SOME ARE OFF SEAM, POROSE WELDS, WELDS THAT APPEAR TO HAVE LITTLE TO NO PENETRATION, WELD JOINTS WITH LITTLE TO NO WELD MATERIAL IN THE JOINT AND OFF SEAM. ALSO MANY OF THE WELDS SHOW SINES OF HEAVY CONTAMINATION IN THE WELD MATERIAL.*DT*JB

HELLO.THIS IS REGARDING MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL RUBICON. I HAVE BEEN READING EXTENSIVELY ABOUT THE FRAME WELDING RECALL (ISSUED 10/5/18) THAT UNFORTUNATELY DOES INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. WE SPENT OVER FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THIS JEEP, AND ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE BUILD QUALITY. JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WELDS ARE BAD, I LOOKED UNDER THE JEEP AND SEVERAL EXTREMELY IMPORTANT WELDS (SOME INVOLVING THE STEERING BRACKET) WERE NOT DONE PROPERLY, AND WILL FAIL. ALSO, SOME OF THE WELDS HAVE SEVERAL POCKS IN THEM AND WILL DEVELOP RUST. IF A WELD ISN'T DONE PROPERLY (OR REPAIRED) PROPERLY, IT WILL FAIL AND THAT FOR FCA TO RELEASE A VEHICLE, IN THIS CONDITION TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS DISGUSTING. I HAVE A WIFE AND A BABY ON THE WAY' MY WIFE NO LONGER FEELS SAFE IN OUR NEW JEEP. I AM WRITING YOU TO VOICE MY CONCERN AND WARN OTHERS ABOUT THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. WE NO LONGER DRIVE THE JEEP AND IT SITS IN OUR DRIVEWAY. I CANNOT DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT MAY FAIL STRUCTURALLY AND INJURE OR KILL US.
Mileage: 5,500
FRAME HAS TERRIBLE WELDS, POROSITY ALONG FRAME WELD LINES, RUSTING ALREADY ALONG WELD LINES, SEEMINGLY MISSING WELDS, WELDS THAT WON'T GO DEEP ENOUGH TO RETAIN STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY WHEN REPORTED TO FCA, THEY STOOD BEHIND THE INTEGRITY OF THE WELDS, AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED THE INSPECTION NOTED THAT THE WELDS 'LOOKED FINE BECAUSE THEY LOOKED JUST LIKE THE WELDS ON A VEHICLE THAT HAD JUST BEEN DELIVERED'. PROFESSIONAL WELDERS HAVE NOTICED THAT IT SEEMS NOT ENOUGH SHIELDING GAS WAS UTILIZED DURING THE INITIAL WELD PROCESS, WHICH WEAKENS THE INTEGRITY OF THE WELD AND OPENS IT UP TO PREMATURE RUSTING AND POTENTIAL FAILURE.

ABOUT A WEEK AND HALF AGO I GOT IN MY VEHICLE AND TURNED THE VEHICLE ON (STILL IN PARK) WHEN I RECEIVED TWO WARNING/SERVICE ALERTS. FIRST WAS, "SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL", AND SECOND, "STOP/START UNAVAILABLE SERVICE STOP/START SYSTEM". FYI, THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN IN MY POSSESSION FOR A FEW MONTHS, SOMETHING LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. I HAVE ATTACHED THE IMAGES OF THE WARNINGS.

THERE ARE SEVERAL LOCATIONS ON THE FRAME OF MY VEHICLE WITH POOR WELDS. THE BEAD IS NOT UNIFORM, PENETRATION IS POOR, AND THERE IS SOME POROSITY.

WELDS ON 2018 JEEP WRANGLER JLU SPORT FRAME ARE BAD IN MANY WAYS. PROBLEMS INCLUDE: -INCOMPLETE WELD IF TRACK BAR WELD WHICH COULD CAUSE FAILURE AND LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL -POROUS WELDS - MANY OF THE WELDS ARE POROUS -LACK OF PENETRATION -OVERWELD AKA WELD DRIP -NEARLY 90% OF THE WELDS HAVE WELD SLAG THAT WAS NOT CLEANED OFF BEFORE PAINTING. RESULTING IN PARTS OF THE WELD NOT BEING PAINTED AND PRONE TO RUST AND EVENTUAL FAULURE -THERE IS ALSO A GREAT DEAL OF WELD SPRAY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED OFF -THERE ARE ALSO WELDS THAT WERE NOT COMPLETED...FOR INSTANCE THERE IS ONE ON EACH SIDE IN THE REAR WHERE THEY ONLY WELDED HALF OF THE TUBING THAT SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A COMPLETE WELD AROUND ITS CIRCUMFERENCE. WELDS WERE EXAMINED BY PRESTIGE JEEP AND A DISTRICT REP WHO SAID THEIR WERE FINE HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT A CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR. CASE WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF JEEP CARES/JEEP WAVES WHO LOOKED OVER SOME 160 PHOTOS I SENT OF THE WELDS AT WHICH POINT THEY SAID THIS ISN'T A CONCERN. IRREGARDLESS OF THE SAFETY ISSUES...AT MINIMUM THERE SHOULD BE PAINT ON THE WELDS ON MY FRAME. THE SAFETY ISSUES THEMSELVES ARE FRIGHTENING AS ONE OTHER OWNER OF THE SAME VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD HIS TRACK BAR BRACKET BREAK OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. I HAVE MANY PHOTOS THAT I AM HAPPY TO SEND IN HOWEVER, YOUR SITE ONLY ALLOWS 5. THIS JEEP IS 3 WEEKS OLD AT THE TIME OF THESE PHOTOS AND HAS SEEN RAIN 4 TIMES. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURES THERE ARE HOLES AND POROSITY IN THESE WELDS. THE COPPER SPOTS ON THE WELDS ARE SLAG THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED OFF BEFORE PAINT AS PAINT WILL NOT ADHERE STRONGLY TO SLAG AND WHEN THE SLAG FALLS OFF IT WILL LEAVE THE WELDS UNCOVERED. JEEP IS REFUSING TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE AND I AM NOW SEARCHING FOR A CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR TO EXAMINE BEFORE BRING IT TO THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
2018 JEEP WRANGLER JLU SPORT. THE AC/HEATER IS OUTPUTTING A STRANGE MOLDY SMELL THAT SMELLS LIKE ROTTING SHOES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND STATIONARY AND AGAIN APPROXIMATELY EVERY 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE FOR ME AS I AM ALLERGIC TO MOLDS. JEEP SEEMS TO BE BLOWING OFF THE ISSUE AND REFUSES TO DO MUCH ABOUT IT.
2018 JEEP WRANGLER JLU SPORT. DURING DRIVING AT 75MPH, COLD AIR WAS FOUND COMING OUT OF GLOVE BOX SEAMS. OPENED GLOVEBOX AND COLD AIR IS POURING OUT. THIS IS WHEN THE HEATER IS ON. JEEP DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

MY REAR GLASS IMPLODED WHILE THE JEEP WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS 30 FEET AWAY HEARD A POP, TURNED AROUND AND SAW THE GLASS ALL OVER THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE GLASS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN 75 DEGREES. IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

REAR CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO TURN ON AND DISPLAY WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO REVERSE AND DRIVING IN REVERSE. JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS ISSUE IS NOT REPORTED AND NO KNOWN SOLUTION EXISTS. LEAVING THE JEEP OFF FOR SEVERAL HOURS RESOLVES THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO A SOFTWARE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT RESOLVE WITH A "RESET" OF THE ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEM. MULTIPLE USERS HAVE REPORTED THE EXACT ISSUE IN ON-LINE JEEP FORUMS.

AS I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED THAT FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE JEEP. I MERGED TWO LANES OVER TO TRY TO TURN ON A SIDE STREET AND LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I PUT THE JEEP IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF, AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. WE RAN UP A NEAR BY HILL, TURNED AROUND AND THE ENTIRE JEEP WAS ENGULFED WITH FLAMES. IT BURNED FOR AN HOUR. IT IS A COMPLETE LOSS. *TT *DT*JB

ON 2/9/18, FLEW FROM BOSTON TO PICK UP PURCHASE OF NEW 2018 ALL-PURPLE, 2-DOOR 40K JEEP AT CANANDAIGUA NY JEEP DEALERSHIP. (NONE AVAILABLE IN MASS.) UPON DELIVERY ON LOT, DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY. SALESMAN ROBERTS STATED TO US THAT ALL JEEPS ARE QUIRKY; DOORS MUST BE SLAMMED TO CLOSE. DURING 400-MILE HIGHWAY DRIVE HOME, DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD TO RE-CLOSE DOOR REPEATEDLY DURING DRIVE. REPORTED PROBLEM TO (ABSENTEE) OWNERS HARRY/SCOTT KESEL, CHRYSLER CORPORATE STEVE STANDER, AND 1-800-JEEP REP D. PITTMAN; ALSO BROUGHT CAR TO KELLY JEEP SERVICE (LYNNFIELD, MA). ALL JEEP REPS TOLD ME THAT JEEP CABINS ARE AIRTIGHT WHEN CLOSED, CAUSING DOOR PROBLEM. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IF YOU SKIP THE DRIVER SIDE AND ENTER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. JEEP REPS TOLD ME TO LIVE WITH PROBLEM - NO REPAIR NECESSARY, AND INSTRUCTED ME TO: ENTER CAR DRIVER'S SIDE, TURN ON IGNITION; POWER DOWN WINDOW; RE-OPEN DOOR; SLAM AGAIN. DUE TO IMPENDING DANGER, THIS CAR HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN SINCE PURCHASE AND IS AT SERVICE DEPT. FOR 35 DAYS, MILEAGE: 400. I DO NOT WANT MY DAUGHTERS DRIVING THIS JEEP FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS AND TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING TARGETED IN A DARK PARKING LOT BECAUSE OF THIS NOTICEABLE DIVERSION TO ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR. NO FACTORY OR ZONE AREA MANAGER HAS INSPECTED, NOR HAS CANANDAIGUA DEALER OWNER, WHO PRACTICED OTHER FALSE AND DECEPTIVE SALES TACTICS ON ME. DEALERSHIP OWNER SCOTT KESEL WILL NOT TAKE BACK THE CAR OR COMPENSATE LOSS OF $6,000 FOR A TRADE-IN. HE BLAMES JEEP FACTORY; JEEP BLAMES DEALERSHIP. BOTH CLAIM THAT THE OTHER PARTY IS RESPONSIBLE. CHRYSLER CORPORATE REP SAID CORPORATE DOESN'T SPEAK TO OR INFLUENCE DEALER OWNER'S RESPONSE TO CUSTOMERS -- HANDS OFF. DEALER SAID HE'LL DO WHAT EVER CHRYSLER DIRECTS HIM TO DO. I AM PAYING FOR A CAR THAT I DON'T HAVE AND CAN'T USE.
