Death wobble really bad

I purchased this 2020 Jeep Wrangler from SunToyota car dealership in Holiday, FL on [XXX]. There have been several ongoing concerning safety issues with this vehicle and the car dealership over the past year since I purchased it. My vehicle has had immediate malfunctions and service visits upon purchase. On 12/31/24, the car went to the shop for broken visor (as is) as listed on service invoice- during this same visit I explained that turn signals lights were not functioning properly- was told that it was too much labor and they are aftermarket lights that the dealership cannot fix- dealership did not attempt to rectify the issue at this time. Broken visor/turn signal lights did not function properly upon purchase of the vehicle. In February, the car had what is known as the “death wobble” on major highways [XXX] and [XXX] in Florida, which was an extremely dangerous experience for all passengers in the vehicle. Invoice from 2/27/25 reflects suspension concern in regards to “death wobble” that was rectified, but again highly unsafe, and vehicle is beginning to shake again at high speeds as of December 2025. Invoice from 10/19/25 highlights the turn signal malfunction once again (it was never fixed from previous visit after purchase of vehicle and continued over several months). Car was taken back to dealer. Received call on 11/11 stating it was ready, to receive another call on my way there stating another issue with lights arisen. Received call on 11/12 stating it’s ready again, service advisor not present, and ALL lights flickering severely worse. Spoke to executive director, Dylan, who stated “[XXX] things happen” and walked away. Vehicle stayed at dealership. (Invoice from 11/12 highlights the turn signal issue again.). Vehicle was returned to me on 11/28/25, where lighting and turn signals appeared to work properly. As of December 2025, the turn signals have malfunctions again. Suddenly at 82,000 miles, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport S 4 door began shaking uncontrollably while I was driving. It was a terrifying experience. I took it to the mechanic and he replaced the steering damper. The uncontrollable shaking continued. The mechanic replaced the steering damper again. The shaking continues. I have had a wheel alignment and tires balanced. I am scared to drive the vehicle. I don't know what else to do, except trade it in?

Problem seems to be within the steering component.While driving it wanders back and forth pretty bad. Yes it would available for inspection if requested. It has not been confirmed by a dealer but i have reed many complaints about the same problem.I think it is dangerous the way it wanders.

The contact stated that the shaking was extremely violent, and the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving on a busy highway. The contact stated that a tractor-trailer driver who was nearby slowed down to assist the contact with getting the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was driven to the residence. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred three times within an hour of the contact driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was still at the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000. The steering is very loose in this model, ive read that its caused by an aluminum steering gear and replacements are steel, this is a huge safety concern and a hefty repair a vehicle that had less than 40k miles

One day, my check engine light came on but when I went to Auto Zone no issues came back. The light came on again a week later so I went back to Auto Zone (I attached the photo of the diagnostic they gave me). I went back to the Jeep Dealership and they said the next available would about a week later but I would be fine in the meantime. I unfortunately was not fine. I attached screenshots from the video of all the issues that popped up during the incident a few days later. My steering wheel locked up while I was driving. My car came to a complete sudden stop like it automatically went into park while I was driving. Then, the windshield wipers started going by themselves. My gas meter went down to E then back up and down. The car not go into park and it would not turn off by pressing the push start button. I had to call a tow truck because I could not move. It was very scary and extremely unsafe. My car has been at the same Jeep Dealership since then on June 17, 2024 with no updates and no repairs. I have been waiting in limbo. I have contacted higher management and even they have given me no answers.

I was pulling into work when my dash lit up with all warning lights, I was unable to shut my vehicle off. I had to disconnect the battery to do so. After a couple hours of being disconnected, it operated normal. Few hours later, went to leave a store and it lit up again, this time my steering was nonfunctional. The common issue was the can buss connector. For several years this has been an issue, apparently a TSB was placed but I am unable to find it. This should be a national recall. This part controls literally every electrical component of this vehicle. It's I intermittent and unknown to when it will malfunction. This creates a huge hazard to driving as when it does malfunction, you're unable to steer, your vehicle can shut off, it's not safe at all. Then come to find that the part isn't even covered as a replacement on the TSB. There is no reason this part should not be recalled, how does a small plastic block become defective other than poor craftsmanship? When the vehicle can't communicate to the other parts (engine, transmission, steering, fuel system, etc) that is a huge problem and is not worth the risk of death because someone can no longer drive or steer when going 65 mph.

When 4h on transfer case is on,the front tire wobble when turning even in a slow driving speed. Also suspension is very horrible when the vehicle is running on an uneven pavement driver and passenger were like being shaken inside left to right vise versa .

I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 42,000 miles on it and the steering damper malfunctioned twice causing my vehicle to shake while on the interstate going about 70 mph. Very unsafe when you are in the middle of traffic going the same mph and have to slow down for the shaking / wobble to stop. I am scared that it will do it again. I’m paying a nice payment each month for my Jeep and I shouldn’t have to worry about a manufactures part malfunctioning on me while driving. I took it to the Jeep dealer and had it repaired right away. I feel like the repair costs should be reimbursed since this is a “known issue” for this model. There were no warning signs for this incident either. Very unsafe and should be taken care of from the manufacturer. - (1) failed/black instrument cluster/panel. unable to see mileage, fuel level, engine temperature, tire pressure, etc. - I can hear multiple warning lights going off, but I'm unable to see any. - the vehicle has been brought in for servicing at my nearest jeep dealership - the vehicle is currently being inspected at my nearest jeep dealership - there were no warning messages or lamps prior to failure. the issue first appeared on 1/25/2025. the panel has not turned on since.

About 70-75 mph the entire vehicle shakes briefly, and steering wheel will wobble, the steering wheel will wobble uncontrollable on bumps at HWY speed. There doesn't appear to be any worn or damaged parts.

Steering wheel gets very hot and the steering wheel and steering column start to smoke. Burning smell is toxic. This is a safety issue that needs to be repaired by Jeep.

While driving on a freeway, going over 40mph if I hit a bump or do not grip to my steering wheel very very tight the steering wheel gets wobbly, and starts shaking violently for a long period of time until I slow back down to under 30mph. Luckily traffic wasn’t too bad and I was able to safely do so. But it’s dangerous to slow down that much on the freeway, especially not having complete control over the steering wheel. Has happened multiple times, not just this once.

Just purchased a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4 door. At low speeds, the vehicle wanders a little on the road. At highway speeds, in traffic, the vehicle swerves towards passing vehicles. In heavy traffic, it becomes a white-knuckle experience trying not to hit or be hit by other vehicles. The steering is just so loose that it feels unsafe. Noticed online that many other Jeep owners complain of loose steering as well. Jeep has published a Service Bulletin # 08-074-20 to address the known issue but has not issued a formal recall.

I recently purchased a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon from a private party. The vehicle has not been used much for highway driving, only town. During driving at several different speeds, I have experienced difficulty in controlling steering to include but not limited to instances of jerking and the vehicle drifting from side to side. When these episode have transpired the vehicle failed to drive in a straight line. Additionally, while driving at highway speeds and pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle has drifted severely to the left. As the vehicle is under warranty, I set up an appointment at South Point Jeep in Tulsa, Ok and notified the repair person of the issue. I was advised that my vehicle had no open recalls and that they did not take into consideration any TSB's. The vehicle has not yet been repaired.

Our vehicle developed a steering problem and a friend told me that there was an issue with Jeeps that had an aluminum steering box and he gave me a copy of a TSB that described the exact problem I was having. I took the Jeep to the Jeep dealer that we have used to do all of our service work. The told me the problem was caused by the aluminum steering box as the TSB stated. The service manager at the dealership refused to warranty the work because it was past the warranty. He told me he has changed out several, but for him to do the work Jeep would have to authorize the work and gave me the number to call. I call Jeep Cares and received a case number. I received an email from Sugeeth, the case manager. He then called and let me know he would contact the dealer for information and get back to me. Sugeeth then sent me an email with no information except to let me know if I need further information I would need to bring the Jeep to the dealer for diagnosis and reopen the case. The Jeep has been to the dealer and they have done a complete diagnosis with a complete list of repair the needs to be done to correct the steering. I have copies of the repair estimate and emails. I also have a copy of the TSB that describes the problem with the following statement: "If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure." I am unable to upload the documents. I can email the documents any time.

I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL that I purchased in October of 2023. Since the day I bought it I noted that it wanders down the road and requires constant steering correction, left/right right/left left/left right/right and so on. It has excessive freeplay at top dead center of the steering. Mfg issued a TSB acknowledging the defective steering boxes that Jeep installed in our wranglers from 2018-2020. However, for those of us that bought used, they will not replace these dangerous steering gear boxes and I have had multiple close calls where even a moments inattention can result in the vehicle ending up in an adjacent lane or onto the shoulder of the road. This is not safe and the steering gear box TSB must be made a recall by NHTSA before someone ends up dead because of this safety issue.

Right after leaving work, the following message appear shifter error. Dash light up marking all type of errors whipers, gasoline, motor, etc. And the most scary part was NO power steering at all. Then ONE second latter it totally shut down. Thanks GAD! there where no cars behind me or next to me and I was able to pull over and tuns on my emergency lights.But I was about to go into the freeway only 2 blocks away from it. Just imagine! that happening at 65 or 70 miles in rush hour. I consider that my life was in danger with this issue, Not only mine everyone driving around me. What if it happens again? I am truly afraid to drive my jeep in a freeway or even travel.

While traveling on the interstate 3 months ago, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler began to vibrate violently after driving over a seam in the road while traveling around 70mph. After slowing down and pulling over, I assessed the exterior of the car and tires for any obvious defects and continued on without identifying any structural problems. Within the next 20 miles the violent reverberations occurred again. We pulled over, concerned that something catastrophic could occur and brought the Jeep to a local mechanic. The mechanic suggested that the wheels should be balanced which we complied with, although we had just recently had a tire rotation and balance prior to this trip, but thought perhaps the violent shaking caused the tires to misalign. That same day, we searched online to see if others had experienced a similar phenomenon and learned about the "death wobble". We called Jeep that day and they would neither confirm nor deny that the Jeep was safe to drive for the remainder of our trip. We continued on at a lower speed and encountered the same problem the following day. We feel this vehicle is unsafe to drive and Jeep has informed us that they do not have enough parts to fix our Jeep because of the volume of affected vehicles. We’ve been on a waitlist for the part for the past 3 months.

Driving on Interstate at 60 miles an hour, the vehicle shook back and forth so violently that I nearly lost control. I though something had broken in the suspension, and it was all all I could do to remain in my lane and get to the nearest off ramp. It subsided when I got off the freeway, where I physical inspected the wheels but couldn't find any visible issues with the suspension. It hasn't happened since (but now I stay off the freeway). I've taken the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer and was told that the issue is a known manufacture defect, which they referred to as an insane shake, and was told that I need to purchase a sway bar to correct the defect. No warning lighting appeared before or after.

At or about 68mph always while on interstate highways if I drive over certain bumps in the road my vehicle gets a dangerous shaking of the steering wheel that is very violent shaking. This shaking does not stop until I bring my vehicle to a complete stop.

Power steering failed and lost engine power. Very dangerous and potentially life threatening event. Unit would not start again for at least 15 minutes. This is the second time this has happened since the dealership was supposed to have fixed by changing out the battery. I reiterate THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS EVENTS AND COULD CAUSE A FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT.

While driving around 44 mph the vehicle started with a death wobble, steering wheel started shaking very hard at the point I almost lost control of the vehicle and crossed the other lane. It’s very scary and dangerous that if another driver is close,we could have an accident.

In September of this year, I would get a random code thrown by the computer, usually telling me that the sway bar disconnected required service, but sometimes it was also the 4wd system. These codes would reset themselves within a few minutes, but I still took it to a dealership for a checkup. The dealership told me that since it currently was not throwing any codes there wasn't really anything they could do. The problem continued to worsen over the next few months. The codes thrown become more varied. I took the vehicle to the dealership two more times and again, no solution was found. Sometimes in the morning when I would go to start the vehicle, it would start, but would not allow the shifter to move, saying that service was required. I took it to the dealerhip again, and no solution could be found. Then the worse started happening. The computer would start throwing several codes at the same time, and then enter a reboot cycle, as I was driving down the freeway. During the reboot cycle, power to the accelerator and power steering would flap on and off, and my ability to steer the vehicle would alternate between powered and unpowered within seconds, leading to a very dangerous situation. The accelerator was the same, disabling my ability to respond to the conditions on the road. I escalated to Jeep's corporate system and left my Jeep at the dealership for two weeks. They were eventually able to identify the CAN BUS as the problem and replace it. I was informed that this was a common problem in Jeep Chrysler vehicles. SInce the replacement of the CAN BUS, I have not experienced any further incidents.

I was on [XXX] when my jeep started shaking violently I pulled over in a rest area. Checked my tires and lug nuts everything seemed fine. Got back on [XXX] and about 5 miles later it happened again. On Friday [XXX] going to holly hill I hit a rough spot and my jeep wrangler shook violently again!! I caller a dodge dealer service department explained what happened and the young man called it a (DEATH WOBBLE) VERY SCARY!!! Driving on the highway, I traveled over a concrete expansion joint which caused my vehicle to shake violently from side to side with the steering wheel moving approximately six inches in either direction. The shake/vibration stopped after speed was reduced to under 40mph. This happened multiple times travelling the same day on the freeway. The dealership recommended replacing the steering damper with a more robust part which I did -- it wasn't covered under warranty because the original steering damper wasn't compromised but I was told with this more robust one I would probably never experience it again. This was the scariest event I've encountered in a vehicle. Reproduction of the event was not consistently repeatable. This event happed on October 30, 2023 on I-695 in Maryland.

My Jeep dealership has confirmed that a Steering Damper replacement is necessary to keep the vehicle from experiencing what is called the "Death Wobble". After going over a few bumps the entire front end shakes as if there is a flat tire. Slowing down and pulling over remedies the problem. A driver who witnessed this pulled me over to say he thought I was going to lose my driver's wheel and suggested I keep under 35 MPH. The jeep has 20,800 miles on it. The dealership reported that each dealer can only order a small number of these parts per month as there is such a backlog. It's estimated they could order mine in March of 2024! In the meantime, they don't suggest I drive the vehicle. This is OUTRAGEOUS!

While traveling at highway speeds the vehicle will shake violently after driving over pavement imperfections. Most frequently this is the seem between the road and a bridge. Car is stock. The occurrence of this wobble has become more frequent as of recent.

Randomly the check engine light will appear and the dash will display multiple messages about service needed for traction control, stability control, auto start stop disabled, service cruise control etc. Then while driving you will lose power steering and this almost caused my daughter to wreck while trying to finish a turn. Additionally when the messages appear the vehicle will not have the ability to shift so you can not reverse and once it shut off in the middle of the highway blocking traffic and almost caused multiple accidents. The dealership has replaced the battery sensor and said it was fixed. I was told to replace the primary and secondary battery to ensure it was not a battery problem and I did, however the issue still remains. Looked online for others with this issue and there are many with the exact problem. The Jeep will report the transmission temperature and oil temperature incorrectly with the gauge maxed out even if it has sat overnight. Additionally it also says to service the transmission.

I have had to replace 2 steering dampers in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler that has only 24,000 miles. Whenever the vehicle reaches speeds over 50 mph the steering becomes very loose, needing to constantly steer left and right. If there is any change to the road surface such as a bridge, uneven pavement or bump in road, vehicle loses control in steering making the need for you to come to a stop to regain control.

Hi, my name is [XXX] and I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, I bought this car on July of 2021 and I started to have problems on October of 2022 the car was shaking but it wasn’t that bad, but on Nov of 2022 I was traveling from Phoenix to Nogales AZ driving at approximately 75m/h and the car started to shake really bad I almost lost control of the car it felt like the car was gonna fall apart, I had my daughter with me she’s traumatized she has Down syndrome she doesn’t like getting in the car no more and I don’t blame her, so once I was back to Phoenix I went to the Jeep dealership and they told me it was a problem with the steering wheel and that they have to order the part, I waited close to 3 months and they didn’t have the part, on Feb 20 2023 I had a car accident caused by the death wobble, I was driving on the freeway at approximately 60m/h and on a little bump the car started to wobble really bad that I lost control of it and hit the median cable barriers and damaged the front of the car I got really traumatized and got a ticket that day, I tried to talk with the Jeep company and they said that the car wasn’t cover by the warranty no more. I missed work that day and my car for like 2 months until it was completely fixed, this is a very danger situation people can loose their life with this problem. When driving on the interstate and going highway speeds, my Jeep will begin to wobble profusely and I must immediately get off the road as fast as possible to regain control. "Death wobble". All original factory parts and tires on the vehicle and this happens every time that I get on the highway and go over 55 miles per hour and hit any road defect, whether it be a bump or bridge gap. I have had the alignment checked and it does not help the problem at all. No warning lights or any type of notification other than the steering wheel beginning to shake and lose control of the front steering.

my jeeps (2020 4door wrangler unlimited sport JL) VIN does not come back to any recalls on the NHTSA but it has the old aluminum steering gear part# (P68250506AE) and needs to be replaced by the new part# (68507569AA) and a EHPS software eopdate per TSB 08-003-21 REV. A. some dealers are not honoring the TSB if the VIN does not come back to a recall. this issues causes unsafe steering wander and lead pull left to right. I think the dealers should be notified that there are still jeeps with the aluminum steering gear that does not show up on recalls.

2020 Jeep Rubicon - wife was driving 60 mph on highway, went over a small bump and the steering wheel began shaking violently causing her to lose control. She was able to gain control and get to the side of the road, almost getting hit by several vehicles. She turned the Jeep off and restarted. She began traveling again, going slower this time, and it didn't happen again for about 30 minutes. She again went over a small bump (the dividers in the road where it switches to a bridge) and it began to shake bad again. I read online that this is a known problem. This is not safe. She could have been hit, or she could have hit someone. She is so terrified, she will no longer drive the vehicle.

I was driving on highway Jan 2023 at about 75-80 mph and hit a small road imperfection in the middle lane. The Jeep started shaking uncontrollably. I had to fight to keep the car steady and thought I had blown out a tire. I was able to pull to breakdown lane and slow down and it gradually stopped shaking. The violent shaking and noise scared both me and my daughter who was a passenger. Weeks later I got a notice of a class-action lawsuit regarding this issue and the steering damper. I brought it in for service and they fixed it. However, it was NOT covered by Chrysler so I am stuck with the deductible. Disappointed in this as it was an obvious, known problem that I would consider a safety issue. A quick search of it reveals many complaints, a lawsuit, etc and yet no recourse for me. I just purchased the car on Jan 31, 2022 from the jeep dealership (46,000 miles). When driving, it has very loose steering. I can move the wheel left and right and the car stays straight. I was told by the dealer that that was normal. At highway speeds, it is very difficult to maintain a straight direction and I am constantly adjusting the wheel. When holding the wheel center, it drifts left or right. If I hit a bump the car moves. At times if feels like I don't have control of the vehicle. This is not safe to operate on the highway.

While driving at highway speeds we hit a bump in the road and the vehicle started to vibrate excessively in the front end of the vehicle. After slowing to 40 mph the vibration stopped. We weee able to speed up again to highway speeds but hit another bump 10 miles down the road and experienced another vibration/shimmy. This was not the first time.

On January 2, 2023, at about 4:00 PM I encountered the ‘Death Wobble’ while driving in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler (2-door) VIN: [XXX], purchased from Dave Smith Motors, Kellogg, ID on about 7/17/2020. I was driving North on I-15 about 10 miles South of Nephi, UT. I was traveling in the left lane at Freeway speeds (75-80 mph) when the front of the vehicle commenced to shake violently. My first thought was that both front tires had blown, although I did not observe any obstacles on the wet driving lanes. My second thought was, how do I get out of these mess without causing a major accident on that very busy stretch of Freeway holiday traffic? I, of course, braked and pulled to the left in an attempt to avoid getting rear-ended and immediately encountered snow and ice on the left shoulder and then on the ground adjacent to the Freeway. I managed to get off the Freeway, but continued to fishtail, almost losing control on the snow and ice. Eventually the vehicle ended up in a sideways slide perpendicular to the Freeway with the front of the vehicle aimed at the Freeway and heavy TRAFFIC! At that point I had no control over the vehicle as it continued to slide sideways headed for a huge drainage ditch. Luckily, we stopped before the precipice. I scrambled out of the vehicle as soon as it stopped sliding to see what had happened to the front end of the Jeep. There was no obvious damage, the tires were not flat, and I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I have now received a NOTICE OF PROPOSED CLASS SETTLEMNT, that upon further research informs me that 2020 Jeep Wranglers have a manufacture defect that causes the ‘Death Wobble’ in precisely the conditions that existed with me. “…2020 Jeep Wranglers …have a front suspension steering damper defect that causes the steering wheel and front suspension of the vehicle to shake after contact with a bumpy road surface at highway speed.” I was not aware of the Manufacturer's defect. 2020 Jeep Wrangler under warranty, vehicle is having a violent shake / wobble occurring randomly and often on curves, driving over slight bumps with speeds over 50 mph. numerous occurrences. Brought to dealer and diagnosed from dealer after inspection with steering damper not holding resistance and severely affecting stabilization. Stated this is an identified issue with certain Jeeps and they are very aware and seeing more recent problems brought in and reported . Part for fix IS NOT AVAILABLE at this time from Jeep manufacturer and owner was put on waiting list. Vehicle is dangerous and unstable to drive with no options given at this time. This is a major safety issue for myself the driver and those on the road as when this happens there is NO control of the steering mechanism. It was NOT recommended by the dealer NOR the manufacturer when I contactd JEEP corporate to park the car and not drive.Basically was told to wait and see if a fix is suggested at a later date.

My 2020 jeep wrangler becomes hard to control when I'm driving on the highway, it seems when I hit a small.bump in the road my steering wheel shakes to the point its hard to keep my jeep under control and remain safely in the lane I'm driving in. I bought my jeep to the dealer on 02/08/23. The results indicated I need a new stabilizer. The dealer stated no current steering parts are available at this time and when I picked up my jeep the invoice stated car may not be safe. The dealer said there are so many issues with wrangler steering issues, parts are not being shipped frequently and when the part comes in (unknown date) they will call me.

Death Wobble yet again. Since September 2022 I have been experiencing unprecedented steering issues with my 2020 Jeep. This issue occurs out of random where it feels like my tires shake independently from each other making a rumbling noises when driving highway speeds. I am sure it has Death Wobble. Today is the lost current incident. When I was safe to be in a stopping point I told a family member about it. This family member told me that this is a big issue that should have a recall. They suggested for me to see for any recalls about it and if not start reporting whenever these death wobbles happen again. I looked and there are no recalls for my vehicle at this time. Vehicle has been reregistered in California and originally from Texas. I have no idea of where it was manufactured information due to this.

This is a well known thing amongst Jeep owners, but since I was a new owner I had no idea what was going on. After slowing down the wobble stopped. I thought I was going to crash. I am making an appointment with my local Jeep dealer to have it looked at.

We are experiencing the "jeep death wobble" intermittently, usually at speeds 60-70 mph only happens when hitting a bump, it shakes steering wheel violently until finally slowing down to 50-55 mph. Our jeep is all stock, with standard street tires and Never been off-road. Our Jeep has 28,000 miles and is still under warranty, although warranty ending March 2023. We have had it to dealership two times already, they replaced the steering stabilizer with a BDI brand after market stabilizer (experienced death wobble on way home from dealership after this was replaced) they also checked front end alignment which had no issues. They now want to try and change tires, which through my own research do not think this will help. I am now reaching out to another local Jeep Dealership to see if they will check it out.

Death wobbles on a stock Jeep nothing at all has been changed on this vehicle. I am unable to take this vehicle anywhere without experiencing death wobbles. Dealership will be replacing the stabilizer, but many Jeep owners are telling me that this is not a fix and more of a band aid for the problem. I am seeing this same complaint over and again in Jeep Facebook groups. The bought this vehicle brand new and do not feel safe. This is extremely concerning on the freeway as well. This happens at around 45 mph 60mph and higher, I have to slow down to a complete stop for it to stop.

The Jeep steering system allows it to wander down the road with occasional slight lock. On the highway it will move to the left and right and you need to continuously correct its path. While passing a large truck on the highway the wind can cause you to move several feet to the left. Sometimes there is a feel like the steering locks. When parked in the driveway the steering wheel moves 2.5” to 3” before the front wheel move It has not been inspected but will be today by a dealer. I was told by the sales dealership (a different one) that this was normal. There are no warning lights Yes the jeep can be inspected anytime

I have had issues with the Steering Damper (?)/"Death Wobble" for months. I took it in to get fixed in Dec. 2021 and was told they couldn't replicate the problem to fix it. It happened twice the following day. It has been getting progressively worse causing uncontrollable steering and the jeep swaying all over the road. I've had to pull over, slow down or break just to prevent the Jeep from going off the road in an uncontrolled manner. I have now made a 2nd appt. to get this fixed.

I experience extreme shaking of the steering wheel when traveling in the freeway and hitting a small imperfection on the road causing the care to shake and the steering wheel to vibrate violently to the point i have slow down abruptly from 70MPH to under 50MPH. Took the Jeep to have it check after a day the dealer was not able to reproduce the issue, advised them of the speed that it happens at and are not willing to work on it. They are asking me to pick the car up. No warning prior to issue happening, you can be driving smoothly down the road up to 80MPH once the imperfection in the road is hit the car starts vibrating/shaking.

After one year of owning the Jeep Wrangler 2020 the steering wheel would lock up while driving. This not only puts me at risk but others also. After multiple times of this happening I have dodged multiple accidents and collisions with other cars and thankfully avoiding death. When the steering wheel locks & this happens I am not able to turn the wheel at all. We have attempted to get this car repaired by our dealership over 5 times, we are now in the process of the lemon law and FCA completely does not care. they are continuously brushing us off and dragging this whole process out. I have explained how dangerous this problem is and no one contacts us back. we have sent multiple emails and called and left voicemails and no one responds. FCA keeps asking for paperwork we have sent multiple times. This jeep wrangler is a death trap and I refuse to drive it. We are making payments every month and cannot enjoy the car. we have not even missed one payment and this is how we get treated. I will not recommend jeeps products to anyone. I don't think I will ever buy a jeep product again. I am putting this out there so no one else will be put in this miserable position or put their life In danger dealing with jeeps awful products. this needs to be addressed before someone dies.

I am getting an error message to "service shifter", and "service stability". The cars goes into a limp mode. The dash board alarms every error possible. Driving the car is unsafe, as it is unpredictable. When the car is off and the keys are not in it, the car will run in some way because the windshield wipers will start working. The vehicle has been brought to the dealership 4 times now with the same problem. They have not yet been able to permanently correct the issue. At most, I have gone 50 mile until the issue comes back. The warning messages will "ding" and appear on screen and the steering wheel will prevent driving any other way than straight forward. There were no other symptoms in the car, the car has been serviced regularly and on schedule by the dealership, and has approx 32K miles at this time. I have been researching the issue in different forums, and it appears that this has been reported as an issue since 2018. Unfortunately, I have yet to see a solution posted on the matter.

INITIALLY WHEN LEASED HAD SOME STEERING ISSUES WHICH WE ATTRIBUTED TO TIRE PRESSURE. 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED 11/20 SENT TO GARAGE AND HAD A STEERING ADJUSTMENT DUE TO RECALL. IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR TWO OTHER INCIDENTS. COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN SENT TO THE COMPANY, A CASE MANAGER ASSIGNED. CURRENTLY IN THE GARAGE, THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS NEGATIVE AND THE CAR HAD TO BE BROKEN DOWN AND A NEW STABILIZER APPLIED. DID NOT WORK ACCORDING TO TECH, SHAKING WAS WORSE. I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM CM NO VERBAL CONTACT AT ALL. THE CAR IS UNSAFE. I AM NOT SURE IF ANYONE HAS REPORTED HOWEVER ON LINE REPORTS ON ELECTRONIC MEDIA ARE NUMEROUS. a safety issue that has been termed the Jeep "death wobble" has occurred numerous times over the past 6 months . When a bump or pothole is confronted , there is a violent shaking of the steering wheel and front end and it takes anywhere from 5-15 seconds to resume control of the vehicle . This usually occurs at a speed of 55-65 miles per hour . control of the vehicle is virtually impossible when this occurs and only resumes stability when speed of the vehicle declines. Three repairs have been attempted to correct the issue , with genuine Chrysler parts used , but to no avail. This safety issue and dangerous condition has been documented with Chrysler since 2010 and there are 2 class action lawsuits still in place vs. Chrysler, the most recent being one regarding 2018-2020 jeep wranglers , filed in California.

Southbound on I75 in Tipp City, Ohio it was windy 15 -20 mph. Driving in right lane, experienced a burst of wind which placed me into the middle lane, fortunately no vehicle occupied this immediate lane. Vehicles forward of me showed no signs of being effected by the wind, very fortunate no one had been beside me. This is not the first time similar loss of control has happened, I’m almost afraid to drive this Jeep on highways at this point. In-town, Jeep needs constant input to keep in lane, wanders constantly.

The Jeep wanders across the road when on the highway. It is extremely susceptible to road dips, lines, and other highway like surface deviations. The Jeep will be pulled rather violently from side to side when large trucks pass by. The issue is the steering will not easily correct the direction of the Jeep as it has a large dead spot (2 inches) in the middle of the steering circle. This is my 3rd Jeep and 4th solid axle automobile and I have never had this experience with any of the other autos I have owned.

Same problem as other Jeeps. Seems like any time driving over 50mph and hit some type of bump/hole, big or small, my steering wheel shakes violently. All 3 times this has happen, I had to exit to the emergency lane/reduce speed below 15mph in order to get the Jeep back under control. I tool Jeep in and all they did was align the front end. Since then, the problem is still occurring. The Jeep is back at the dealership now. It has less than 11500 miles since I bought it in 09/2020. I see there was a recall of this type of vehicle, but mind was not included. The problem seems to include my Jeep which was not in the recall. I am hoping something can be done to correct the problem since it is still on going and the dealership can not fix it.

I bought this 2020 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon as a factory order, assembled in August 2019, delivered in September 2019. Since I got it, it has had incredibly loose steering. I was assured by the dealer this was standard. I previously owned a 2016 Jeep Wrangler (previous generation) that did not have the same looseness in steering. At my dealer's recommendation, I purchased and had them install a new steering stabilizer ($250) and upgraded control arms ($400). This helped the handling of the vehicle but did not improve the steering. I recently had the TSB 08-074-20 performed which replaced the steering gear box. It did not improve the steering at all and it continues to be loose. I can turn the steering wheel from 10 oclock to 2oclock and the wheels do not turn at all. This makes it incredibly difficult to drive, especially at high speed. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle above 55mph, especially around curves on the highway.

A bunch of lights started to pop on my dashboard and said things like Service Airbag System, Service Shifter, Traction Control On while I was driving on a busy road. My steering wheel was also locked so I was unable to turn left or right. Thankfully, I was on the right side of the road so I was somehow able to get on the side of the road and pull over. When I put my car on park, the car would start jerking forward. I turned my car on and off and it was still doing the same thing. I turned it off again and after about 15 minutes, my steering wheel was unlocked. I took my car to the dealership and had them take a look at it. A few days later, they "fixed" it and told me it was a battery issue and that it was resolved. Two days later, the exact same thing happened AGAIN while I was on a 1 way street. It was INCREDIBLY dangerous, because it happened right before I had to go up an S curve. It was in the middle of a storm and there were a lot of cars going the other way and a lot of cars behind me. I turned on my hazard lights and had to go up the curve very slowly and there was somewhere I could turn right. Since my steering wheel was locked, I wasn't able to turn onto the street and ended up in a patch of grass. My car is currently at the dealership again. They told me it was a wiring issue and they are going to keep it and test drive it a few times.

On 4 occassions two while being towed behind our RV the Jeep started jumping violently. Looked on the camera and felt like we were driving over big boulders but there were none. Thankfully we were going slow enough to stop without having an accident. On all four times it did not come back when we were going again. We are terrified of driving it and more so of towing it. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON JLU INTO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR LOOSE STEERING AT 7,507 MILES. THE TSB PART NUMBER 08-074-20 WAS ORDERED AND TOOK OVER A MONTH TO COME IN. ONCE COMPLETED THE STEERING DID FEEL BETTER FOR 2,000 MILES AND THEN BECAME VERY LOOSE AGAIN. IT'S VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE SPEEDS OVER 45MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A JEEP WRANGLER. I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS THE STEERING WAS FINE FOR 7,000 MILES WITH ZERO COMPLAINTS AND THIS WAS NOW MY THIRD WRANGLER I'VE OWED.

MY 2020 JEEP WRANGLER JLUR HAS A DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT IS ABOUT 1.5 TO 2 INCHES OF STEERING TURN WITH NO RESPONSE. IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP IT FROM OVER STEERING ESPECIALLY AT SPEEDS MORE THAN 50 MPH. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY MAKE MICRO-ADJUSTMENTS TO KEEP IT IN MY LANE. WHEN LARGE TRUCKS LIKE 18 WHEELERS PASS ME IT GETS VERY DICEY. I'VE GOTTEN SCARED TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY JEEP NOW. THERE IS NO EXCUSE AT ALL FOR A VEHICLE TO DRIVE THIS POORLY. I PAID NEARLY $60K FOR THIS CAR AND IT ONLY HAS 5,000 MILES ON IT THUS FAR. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT 2,700 MILES. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD MY FIRST OIL CHANGE YET. I HAVE HEARD MANY OTHERS WITH JL'S HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. FCA NEEDS TO RECALL THE STEERING ON JL WRANGLERS BEFORE PEOPLE GET INJURED OR DIE FROM THIS STEERING ISSUE. IT'S NOT SAFE!!

I PURCHASED THE JEEP 7/4/2020 NEW OFF THE LOT WITH 9 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED RIGHT AWAY DRIVING HOME THAT THE CAR WANDERED A LOT AND I SPENT A LOT OF TIME CORRECTING THE STEERING TO STAY IN THE LANES. IT WAS SCARY. I HAD EVEN MORE DIFFICULTY ON THE BACK ROADS HERE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY WITH ANY KIND OF WIND. I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THE JEEP BOARDS AND FOUND THE TSB BULLETIN THAT CAME OUT ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ALUMINUM STEERING BOX WITH 2 SCREWS WITH THE STEEL STEERING BOX WITH THE 4 SCREWS. I TOOK IT IN THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER AND THE BOX ARRIVED MID-OCTOBER DUE TO THE BACKLOG. IT WAS INSTALLED BUT IT MADE LITTLE DIFFERENCE. I HAD OTHER WARRANTY ISSUES WITH THE JEEP AND CONTINUED TO ASK EACH TIME I WENT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT'S JUST JEEPS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAD AN OLDER JEEP AS A RENTAL FOR A WHOLE WEEK AND IT DIDN'T HAVE THIS STEERING ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO COMPARED THE NOTES OF WHAT WAS DONE AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO AS PROTOCOL WAS FOLLOWED. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS. I CAN'T LET MY KIDS DRIVE IT AS IT IS REALLY ONLY FOR AN ADVANCED DRIVER WHO CAN DEAL WITH THE CONSTANT WANDERING IN AND OUT OF THE LANES. I HAVE A VIDEO I CAN SUBMIT BUT IT LOOKS LIKE MOV FILES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU WANT A COPY OF THE MOVIE AFTER THE STEERING BOX REPLACEMENT.

THE DAY MY HUSBAND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR ME, I DROVE DOWN TO MY HOUSE ON A HIGHWAY (SPEED LIMIT WAS 55 MPH), I NOTICED STEERING WHEEL STARTS WOBBLING AT A SPEED OF 50-55 MPH, IT WOBBLED MORE GOING AROUND THE CURB, IT REALLY SCARED ME SO I HAD TO STOP THE CAR AND ASK MY HUSBAND TO DRIVE AND SEE WHAT HIS OPINION ON THE LOOSE STEERING WHEEL. HE SAID HE FELT THE SAME WOBBLE AS I DID AND CALLED THE SALES PERSON TO HAVE THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECK IT OUT. THIS VEHICLE IS DOING SAME THINGS THAT IT HAD DESCRIBED IN THE DEATH WOBBLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS IS BRAND NEW 2020 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON, THEIR TOP OF THE LINE JEEP. TWO DAYS LATER, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP, THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID STEERING WHEEL WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO ORDER THE PART WHICH WAS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL NOVEMBER AND GAVE ME A NUMBER TO CALL THE CHRYSLER PARTS DEPARTMENT FOR SPEEDY DELIVERY ON THE PART. THE CASE MANAGER SAID PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL NOVEMBER NO MATTER WHO CALLED BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE WAITING ON THIS PART(A NEW STEERING GEAR). THE MANUFACTURER KNEW THAT THEY WERE PUTTING OUT VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS AND DEALER KNEW THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD THE BAD PARTS SINCE IT WAS IN THEIR TBS BUT THEY STILL SELLING THESE VEHICLES ON THEIR CAR LOT. SINCE THEN, THEY GOT THE NEW PART AND REPLACED IT BUT STILL HAD THE SAME WOBBLY STEERING WHEEL, VERY SCARY FEELING. I HAVE THE DETAILED NOTES ON WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER INSTALLED THE PARTS THAT NEEDED REPLACING. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY STATE THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE JEEP WRANGLER. BELIEVING THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. I RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE, IT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED OR CORRECTED IN ANY WAY. AGAIN THEY STATED THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE WRANGLER. I HAVE REPAIR INVOICES, BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD THEM. UNSAFE LOOSE STEERING IN THIS 2020 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT S WILLY'S EDITION.. THE WHEEL HAS A LARGE DEAD SPACE REQUIRING OVER CORRECTING TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE IN IT'S LANE. DUE TO THE DEAD SPACE I HAVE TO PERFORM A "SAWING MOTION" TO KEEP THE JEEP IN ITS LANE. THE EXCESS STEERING WHEEL MOTION IS AT LOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE JEEP CAN VEER RIGHT OR LEFT DEPENDING ON THE ROAD. WHEN I HOLD THE WHEEL COMPLETELY STILL, THE TIRES CAN BE FELT MOVING RIGHT AND LEFT. MY 16 YEAR OLD SON ALMOST WRECKED THE JEEP THE FIRST DAY IN A 25 MPH NEIGHBORHOOD DUE TO THE OVERCORRECTING NEEDED TO STEER IT STRAIGHT.. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. I WAS TOLD INITIALLY THIS WAS A "JEEP THING" BY SOMEONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I DID TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TECH WITHOUT DRIVING IT RIGHT AWAY SAID YOU NEED A NEW STEERING BOX. I PURCHASED THIS JEEP SEPT 23. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT CAME OUT AUG 10 BY THE COMPANY # 08-074-20 FOR IMPROVED STEERING FEEL. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING AND I WANT TO GET THE WORD OUT. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

I NOTED YOU COULD MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH ABOUT AN INCH OR MORE WITHOUT THE FRONT WHEELS EVEN MOVING? THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. CALLED THE DEALER FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND ASKED IF THIS JEEP HAD THE UPDATED GEAR BOX? IT DID NOT SO THEY DID THE GEARBOX. MADE NO DIFFERENCE STILL WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD. YOU REALLY HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING THIS JEEP. NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A 2020 VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WANDERS AT LOW SPEED AND IS WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. CONSTANT CORRECTING IS REQUIRED TO STAY IN ONE LANE, WHICH ENDS IN OVERCOMPENSATING AND A ZIGZAG EFFECT. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT ANY SPEED. FEELS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED THE SAME CONDITIONS AS 'LOOSE' STEERING. ALMOST LOST CONTROL, BACK END FISHTAILED HORRIBLY, TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK THE OTHER WAY TO ATTEMPT TO TAKE CONTROL AND MASSIVE OVERSTEER CAUSED THE CAR TO JUMP 2 LANES THE OTHER WAY. LUCKY NOT TO CRASH. DEALERSHIP TOOK VEHICLE IN A SAID THERE WAS A KNOWN FAULT THAT NEEDED ADDRESSING! THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN RECALLED, SO IF IT IS A KNOWN FAULT THAT IS FRIGHTENING. THE HAD TO GET A PART IN WHICH TOOK APPROX 10 DAYS. THEY ALSO MADE SOME CHANGES TO THE POWER STEERING. CAR RETURNED TO US. ON FIRST DRIVE ON SAME STRETCH OF FREEWAY (70 AND 75 MPH), WE WERE IN A SIMILAR SITUATION/INCIDENT. AGAIN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BIT OF "NOTHING" SITUATION, WITH A LITTLE SWERVE AND THAT'S ALL. INSTEAD WE ONCE AGAIN LOST CONTROL AND SPENT APPROX 15 SECONDS GETTING UNDER CONTROL AND SECURELY IN ONE LANE. IT WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THE HAD FOR 12 DAYS WITH ZERO UPDATE/CONTACT. THEN THEY TOLD ME A SPECIALIST HAD BEEN PULLED IN AND HE HAD DRIVEN IT AND CONFIRMED A SAFETY ISSUE AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE CAR WAS ORDERED THROUGH THIS DEALERSHIP WITH LARGE WHEELS AS PART OF THE PACKAGE/ORDER. THE SPECIALIST SWITCHED TO FACTORY WHEELS AND TESTED AGAIN - HE SAID IT WAS NOW OK, SO WHEELS ARE THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED ONE SOLUTION TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE AFTER THIS - PUT THE FACTORY WHEELS BACK ON. NO! I PURCHASED MY 2020 RUBICON LAST WEEK 09/01/2020. THIS JEEP'S STEERING WHEEL RESPONSIVENESS IS EXTREMELY "LOOSE". AT SPEEDS OF 55+ MPH I DO NOT FEEL IN CONTROL OF THE JEEP AT TIMES AND IT IS UNNERVING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE ON A HIGHWAY BEND OR A NARROW ROAD PASSAGE. IT IS CHALLENGING TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE IN A CONSTANT TRAJECTORY. THE STEERING WHEEL WANDERS AND IT IS AN EXHAUSTIVE EFFORT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. JEEP IS FINE FOR 9 DAYS WITHOUT ENGINE LIGHT ON. 8/24 ENGINE LIGHT RETURNS ON. 8/25 ENGINE DIES AT A SIGNAL,AND THE RADIO SHUTS DOWN. WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, BATTERY LIGHTS, ABS, AND TRACTION/STABILIZER LIGHTS COME ON. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT, AND WAS HARD TO STEER. THE HEATER COMES ON VIA DEFROST VENTS BLASTING HOT AIR AND UNABLE TO TURN OFF. POWER ACCELERATION GOES OUT. VERY SCAREY AND DANGEROUS. ALL LIGHTS ARE FLASHING ON DASH PANEL AND THE CAR IS DIES. JEEP TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. ON 8/27 THE TECHNICIAN TRIED TO CHARGE BATTERIES FOR ONE AND HALF HOURS ON 1ST ATTEMPT WITH NO SUCCESS. TECHNICIAN SAID BATTERY SEVERELY DISCHARGED AND THEY COULD NOT RETRIEVE INFORMATION. ON 8/31 AFTER HOURS ON A CHARGE ON THE 2ND ATTEMPT, THE BATTERIES CHARGE AND TECHNICIAN CLEARED ALL CODES TECHNICIAN DROVE IT A COUPLE OF DAYS (MILEAGE IS NOW 670) AND BECAUSE NO CODES RETURNED "ON", SAYS THE JEEP IS FIXED. ON 9/3 WE PICK UP THE JEEP. THE NEXT DAY 9/4 NEW PANEL LIGHTS COME ON FOR THE PARKSENSE SYSTEM. THE DASH PANEL SAYS TO WIPE CLEAN. THEY ARE CLEAN. THE TURN ON/OFF BUTTON LIGHT CONTINUES TO BLINK. OPENED A CASE # 77098337 WITH JEEP CARE ON 8/31 AND HAVE HAD NO HELP AND SENT DETAILED DOCUMENTION AND VIDEOS OF THE PROBLEMS. THE CAUSE IS DEFINITELY ELECTRICAL WITH THE BATTERIES NOT BEING ABLE TO HOLD A CHARGE. WE ARE IN FEAR OF DRIVING THIS JEEP AND BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE REMOTE AND HAVE WHAT HAPPENED TO US HAPPEN AGAIN ENDING IN AN INJURY ACCIDENT OR DEATH BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF POWER TO STEERING AND ACCELERATION. I CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE VEHICLE BEING PUSHED BY THE WIND AND WHEN THE STEERING IS NOT RESPONDING. SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS TOP HEAVY, I DO NOT WANT TO OVER TURN TO MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF STEERING RESPONSE. AN EXAMPLE OF THE ISSUE IS AS FOLLOWS: ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN BETWEEN TWO VEHICLES, THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT COMES CLOSER. TO COUNTER ACT THIS I TURN SLIGHTLY LEFT AND IT TAKES ABOUT 2 INCHES OF WHEEL TURN BEFORE THE STEERING REACTS AND GOES LEFT. THIS DELAY I FEEL IS VERY UNSAFE AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. ON ONE OCCASSION WHILE DRIVING THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE JEEP HIT AN UNEVEN SURFACE IN THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATLY VEERED TOT HE RIGHT ALMOST DRIVING US INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THE UNEVEN SURFACE WAS JUST A VERY MINOR DIP. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATLY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I AM REGISTERING MY COMPLAINT TODAY AS PRROF THAT I MADE JEEP AWARE AND FOR POSSIBLE FUTURE LITIGATION.

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DRIFTS ALL OVER THE ROADWAY AND BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP STRAIGHT ON THE ROADWAY. UNLIKE MY PREVIOUS 2018 WRANGLER SAHARA, OR CURRENT 2020 GRAND CHEROKEES, WHICH PERMIT TOTAL STEERING CONTROL, THE SPORT MOVES FROM SIDE-TO-SIDE, I.E., "FLOATS," IN THE DRAFTS OF TRACTOR TRAILERS AS THEY PASS, OR IN CROSSWINDS, OR ON BUMPY ROADS. CAN'T MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE IN THE LANE, ONLY ABLE TO RECOVER AS THE VEHICLE DRIFTS FROM CENTER. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPT SAYS IT'S NOT FIXABLE; CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER CONCERN DEPT SAYS IT'S A "FACTORY BUILT WHEEL ASSEMBLY AND CAN'T BE ADJUSTED." AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL RESPONSE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN YOUR OWN LANE. EVEN THEN ITS WANDERING IN YOUR LANE. I HAD A 2013 WRANGLER SAHARA AND IT DIDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. DEALER HAS SEEN IT AND SAID EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. ACTUALLY, SAID IT'S COMPARABLE TO OTHER WRANGLERS, THEY DIDN'T SAY IT WAS NORMAL. I ASKED THEM INSTEAD OF AN IMPROVEMENT THEY MADE THEM WORSE? DEALERSHIP HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE AND NOTICED SOME DRIVABILITY ISSUES. A TSB 19-002-19 WAS DONE FOR A STEERING DAMPER ISSUE, BUT ADDITIONAL STEERING ISSUES WERE NOTICED. 'FLOATING ON THE FRONT END' WAS REPORTED BY TEST DRIVING TECH BUT AFTER CHECKING ALIGNMENT CLAIMED EVERYTHING WAS IN SPEC. NO RESOLUTIONS OFFERED THROUGH DEALERSHIP OR ESCALATION WITH FCA. I WORRY ABOUT THE ABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE TO STAY ON THE ROAD UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CORRECTIONS.

I HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO LET THE 18WHEELER GO AND TRY TO AVOID ANOTHER ONE PASSING ME AND BEING IN THE SAME SITUATION. IF YOU HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT, THE VEHICLE WON'T DO THE SAME, SO YOU HAVE TO GIVE CONSTANT INPUT TO AVOID GOING TO OTHER LANES. I'VE FOUND MASSIVE COMPLAINTS ON JEEP FORUMS AND YOUTUBE. SOME VIDEOS ARE ACTUALLY LEADING TO A SOLUTION BY REPLACING THE STEERING BOX, FLASHING THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE OR REPLACING THE TRAC BAR AS WELL, ETC. I'M ABOUT TO VISIT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SECOND TIME AFTER THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED ON FIRST VISIT. AS MOST WRANGLERS' STEERING WILL WANDER TO SOME DEGREE, THIS CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS BODY ROLL, OVER-CORRECTION IN STEERING AND LOSS OF TRACTION IN SNOWY CONDITIONS, PARTICULARLY WHEN 4WD IS ENGAGED. THIS HAS CAUSED LOSS OF TRACTION, NEAR ACCIDENTS AND VEERING OFF OF ROADS IN MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD SEE THE PROBLEM, THE WEREN'T ALLOWED TO TRY ANY SOLUTIONS. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED/RECALLED BEFORE IT KILLS SOMEONE. THERE SHOULD BE NO VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE "DESIGNED" NOT TO RETURN TO CENTER AND HAVE MINIMAL STEERING CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A SECOND PROBLEM IS THAT IT TENDS TO REALLY WANDER WITH ANY OUTSIDE FORCE. TOOK MY JEEP WRANGLER IN FOR SERVICE TO ADDRESS A SERIOUS HIGHWAY SPEED OVER STEERING ISSUE. AT FREEWAY SPEED YOU CAN NOT HOLD THE JEEP INTO A CURVE WITH DRIFTING OUT OF THE RADIUS OF THE CURVE. THIS FORCES A SLIGHT CORRECTION WHICH OVER CORRECTS THE OTHER WAY. I ALSO HAVE MY PREMIUM SOUND LEFT SPEAKERS CUTTING OUT PERIODICALLY WHEN DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING BECOME SLOPPY AND UNRESPONSIVE. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO WANDER FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE STEERING IS LOOSE, SO ANY CORRECTION TO PREVENT THE WANDERING IS NOT ENOUGH OR TOO MUCH. THIS CAUSES A LOOP WHERE THE WANDERING BECOMES SIDE TO SIDE DRIVING. AT THESE SPEEDS IT IS IN DANGER OF FLIPPING OR HITTING ANOTHER CAR. ANY WIND OR SEAM IN THE ROAD IS ALSO CAUSE FOR CONCERN, AS THE OUTISDE FORCES CAUSE THE DRIVER TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE. WITH THE STEERING CORRECTION IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. 2 EVENTS IN 1 WEEK OF OWNERSHIP RESULTED IN LETTING THE CAR COAST TO A STOP (ON HIGHWAY SHOULDER) IN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN COMPOSURE AFTER EXCESSIVE SIDE TO SIDE WANDERING NEARLY FLIPPED THE CAR. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

WE PURCHASED THIS 2020 JEEP ON 09/03/2019 AND THE SAME DAY NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING. IT WOULD SWAY IN THE LANE AND YOU CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CORRECT IT. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND GOT ALMOST ZERO RESPONSE. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DIDN'T HAVE A FIX FOR IT. I WAS BLOWN AWAY, I HAD JUST PAID OVER $50,000 FOR A BRAND NEW JEEP THAT HAD 3 MILES ON IT AND IT HAD A PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO CALL SOME 800 NUMBER AND MAYBE THEY COULD HELP ME. I COMPLAINED AGAIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO MY SALESMAN AND HE SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. I TOOK THE JEEP IN AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DONE AN ALIGNMENT AND THAT THE TIRES WERE A LITTLE OVER INFLATED SO THEY BROUGHT THEM TO FACTORY PRESSURE. AGAIN, THIS IS A BRAND NEW JEEP THAT THEY HAD JUST RAN THROUGH WHAT THEY CALL PDI WHEN THEY COME OFF THE TRUCK. SO IF THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS WRONG, THEN IT WAS WRONG BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T CHECK IT. I RECEIVED THE JEEP BACK AND THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. I'M HONESTLY AT MY WHITS END WITH IT. I FOUND ONLINE THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND THOUGHT MAYBE I COULD GET SOME HELP FROM YOU GUYS.

NEW 2020 WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON JUST A WEEK OLD. BEEN INTO DEALER 3 OF THOSE 7 DAYS FOR THE FOLLOWING: 1.) SIGNIFICANT PULL TO THE RIGHT ON FLAT SURFACE STREETS OR HIGHWAYS REGARDLESS OF SPEED. ALIGNMENT WAS DONE AND IN SPECS, YET THE PROBLEM EXISTS. ROTATED TIRES BACK TO BACK AND SIDE TO SIDE..NO FIX. CONSTANT CORRECTION REQUIRED EVERY FEW SECONDS MAKING IT NOT JUST A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT ALSO AN EXHAUSTING DRIVING EXPERIENCE. 2.) STEERING WHEEL IS OFF CENTERED ABOUT 5+ DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND WANTS TO CONTINUOUSLY GO BACK TO THAT POSITION. DOES NOT ALIGN STRAIGHT. CAN FEEL IT RESISTING ME WANTING TO GO BACK OFF CENTER TO THE RIGHT. THERE IS PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT IT WANTS TO STAY OFF CENTER ALL THE TIME. 3.) STEERING WHEEL WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN IMMEDIATELY COMES BACK TOWARDS CENTER TO THE RIGHT AND FEELS LIKE IT RESISTS WHEN WANTING TO TURN LEFT; HOWEVER, WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THERE IS NO RESISTANCE AND IT DOES NOT COMEBACK TO CENTER WILLINGLY AS IT SHOULD. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT, AND ASKED THAT I WAIT FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO COME OUT IN NEXT 3-6 MONTHS. I DO NOT FIND THIS TO BE AN ACCEPTABLE OPTION. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING FEELS LOOSE AND THE JEEP TENDS TO WANDER LEFT AND RIGHT. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, SUCH AS CURVES IN THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY GOING DOWNHILL, CONTROLLING THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT AND SCARY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE "PLAY" WITH THE STEERING. DWAYNE TAYLOR CHRYSLER JEEP (2052 US HWY 641 N, MURRAY, KY) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.

ON SEPTEMBER 16 2019 MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2020 JEEP WRANGLER, WE ONLY DROVE IT ABOUT AN EIGHTH OF A MILE I DIDN'T SEE A REASON TO GO ANY FURTHER BECAUSE WE WERE TRADING IN A 2014 THAT STEERS AND STAYS ON THE ROAD PERFECTLY. IT WAS LATE IN THE DAY WHEN WE PICKED IT UP AND WE WANTED TO GO TOWARDS THE MALL TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT THE JEEP WAS ALL OVER THE ROAD EXTRA MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING WHEEL IT DIDN'T CORRESPOND TO ANY MOVEMENT OF THE TIRES IT WAS EXHAUSTING TO DRIVE IT TO AND FROM THE MALL. I TOOK IT IN THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER DRIVE IT HE DIDN'T SEE A PROBLEM HE TOLD MY SALESMAN I WENT FOR A RIDE WITH MY SALESMAN AND HE COULD SEE THE PROBLEM AND FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL.
