The manufacturer refuses to process the 68c recall. The car was purchased from a dealer in Canada in 2021. I purchased it in 2025 and imported it to Poland. Currently, the car is registered and used in Poland. The dealership refused to process it. He suggested I take the car to North America and have the recall performed there. It's possible to have the software related to the 68c recall installed at an independent repair shop in Poland, but if the battery needs to be replaced, Jeep won't do it. I tried contacting Jeep in the US to ask how to resolve this, but there's no email address or online form available. Given zip code is incorrect since this form do not allow to use forein zipcode. Please contact me via email address. Regards [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jan 7, 2026 Fire

On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and Fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with Raidon's of Kirkland in which the performed recall services.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe – VIN: [XXX] . I previously brought the vehicle in for a recall related to the high-voltage battery. Months later, I received another safety notice instructing me not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors away from structures due to fire risk. This indicates the original recall service did not resolve the defect. My vehicle is currently unable to perform its intended function (EV charging/commuting functionality) and may pose a safety hazard when parked. I am requesting NHTSA oversight to ensure FCA/JEEP provides an available remedy and that owners are informed and supported. Multiple failed recalls to stop vehicle High Voltage battery fires. I've already had the battery pack replaced once and now another recall of a software flash (68c) to test the battery cells separators for damage. So again the issue is still there and this is just another band-aid to catch it before it catches fire. This has been a ongoing issue for over a year and the issue is still not properly corrected. Multiple months of no charging, no parking in garage or near other vehicles/structures just to have another band-aid of a software flash, to stop the fire before it starts doesn't make me feel safe enough to put my family in this vehicle or to still want to charge or park anywhere near other vehicles or structures. This is the same process that "fixed" this issue the last time that obviously isn't a fix at all. The new battery they installed in 07/22/25 is just more of the same junk batteries without a proper fix.

Open recall with no fix that’s a safety issue do to the potential of the vehicle catching fire. I have filed a claim with mopar and they just keep saying that there’s no fix available. I’m looking to get a buy back because this vehicle is not safe.

Fire risk. Recalls for software update. I’ve done the software update once already after my jeep wouldn’t start and had to be towed to the dealership. My engine light came on again along with a stabilizer bar warning light. The dealership said they need to do another software update again, but that there’s still no real fix for the issue. I’m dropping it off again tonight. The fact that I have to do this and to be told there’s still no real fix is ridiculous. I’d really like to get rid of my jeep at this point, but I feel stuck because who’s going to buy it with all these unresolved issues?

I purchased (traded into) a 2021 Jeep Wrangler on October 31, 2024. The vehicle already had an open safety recall (68C) at the time of purchase. Shortly after, the vehicle began experiencing severe and dangerous safety failures. While driving, the Jeep suddenly goes into “turtle mode,” loses power without warning, and drops to 7–12 mph in traffic. The engine light comes on and the vehicle becomes almost undrivable. This creates an extremely hazardous situation where I could be rear-ended or left stranded on the road. This is a serious safety risk to me and to other drivers. I contacted Jeep/Stellantis Recall Customer Care to report the issue. Only after calling did I receive an email telling me I must pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, even though the vehicle is unsafe and the recall remedy is not available. I immediately responded saying I cannot pay upfront. Since November 25, Jeep/Stellantis has ignored my messages completely. The vehicle remains unsafe, undrivable, and under a recall with no available parts. Jeep has refused to provide a direct-billed rental or any safe alternative transportation. I have been left without a usable vehicle while the manufacturer fails to communicate or offer assistance. This is a major safety defect, and the lack of manufacturer response puts me in danger. If this vehicle loses power in traffic again, it could cause an accident. I am requesting NHTSA intervention because Jeep/Stellantis is not addressing this safety issue, not providing a remedy, and not honoring their recall responsibilities. Symptoms: •Sudden power loss •Turtle mode activation •Speed dropping to 7–12 mph unexpectedly •Engine warning light on •Vehicle unsafe to operate Manufacturer Failure: •Recall 68C remedy unavailable •Denied direct-billed rental •Required me to pay upfront for rental •No response to my communication since Nov 25 •Left me without transportation

In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealership (Hendricks Chrysler Dodge Birmingham, AL) for a full diagnostic inspection, and at that time I was told everything was fine. There were no warnings, no notes about electrical issues, airbags, coolant leaks, engine leaks, or any of the major concerns now being reported. On my most recent visit (October 2025), the dealership suddenly reported multiple “Immediate Attention” failures, including: • Airbag system issues • Electrical system failure • Coolant system leak • Water pump leak • Engine oil separator leak These items were never mentioned during my previous full diagnostic despite being safety-related components that typically show symptoms or codes. Because these new issues involve critical components like the airbags, engine, and electrical system, my safety was put at risk. I have been driving the vehicle daily under the belief that it had passed a full diagnostic months earlier. If these problems really existed at that time, then I was unknowingly operating an unsafe vehicle. If they did NOT exist, then the sudden appearance of multiple major failures raises concerns about incorrect diagnostics or improper prior inspection. I have not received any warning lights except the airbag light. The dealership has not provided a clear explanation as to how these issues appeared only months after a full inspection. This has caused significant concern regarding vehicle safety, diagnostic reliability, and whether the previous inspection was performed correctly. I am requesting NHTSA review because the dealership failed to identify or disclose major safety-related failures, which has potentially placed me in danger without any warning.

On April 15th 2025 my Instrument Panal Clusters IPC which is main computer system of Jeeps 2018-2024. It has service lights for check engine, tire pressure, def system recalibrations/cleanings, tells me how fast I'm going, oil levels, all other fluid levels, when I need a oil change, how many miles is on jeep, gas gage, along with all other issues or maintenance on a vehicle including if something is wrong or overheating of vehicle. After doing some research I did see there was a Ipc recall on Jeeps/Gladiators 2018-2024. After going on the website to check if my vin qualified it was sadly not included. I ended up taking my vehicle into the dealership and paid out of my pocket 150.00 to have my vehicle diagnosed. The dealership said it was indeed the Ipc but also said my vin number was not included which was a shock to them also since is a severe issue not being able to see anything on dash for my and other driver's on the road . They tried to submit a goodwill to Jeep Corporate office which was sadly declined also. They advised me to park my vehicle and suggest that it was not safe to drive as I do not know when it needs gas an oil change or any other important issues that may be needed. After waiting 8 months patiently making payments not only for a vehicle I cannot use is ridiculous not till mention insurance on top of that something needs to be done weather it's fixing problems, giving me a rental, or just trading the vehicle in for a usable one. Thank you for your time in advance. I tried to upload photos of the diagnostics for the Ipc also the denial of the goodwill. Oh and I forgot I was on the phone for 4 hours with FCA 18003349200 customer care spoke to recall center spoke to Shawn on 6/27/2025 @ 215pm after getting the run around and being transferred 6 different times to Ann Riley and Josh wasting my time to get told I'm not able to speak to a supervisor and there was nothing they could do to help!!!!

I was driving on the freeway, 65mph, in Los Angeles and the '21 Jeep Wrangler 4xe started showing a bunch of error messages telling me to safely pull over, loss of propulsion, etc. I lost power and was unable to drive past 38mph. Upon getting to the end of the off-ramp and before coming to a full stop, the vehicle threw itself into parking gear. I shifted to Park, and it wouldn’t shift out of Park, while I was blocking traffic on the off-ramp, which could have been a dangerous incident. I required a tow truck. There was a Check Engine Light and a 12V battery light while I was bricked. The tow truck was unable to jump start it. The dealer provided a pre-scan report showing stored codes P0607 (ECU Internal Performance) and P1B13 (Park-By-Wire Unintended Out of Park). Refusal to Repair: The dealer just replaced the 12V battery and "cleared the codes" (per their invoice). There is a known TSB 08-054-22 (NHTSA ID 10248015) specifically relating to code P0607 software logic, but they refused to look into it further. I didn’t have confidence in their diagnosis, and when requesting them to do a safety test drive with me, they refused. When I pressed for safety verification, the Service Director told me to “leave the dealership and never come back.” I was genuinely concerned about the safety of this vehicle and their lack of investigative diagnosis, specifically their refusal to verify if the TSB was performed to ensure the Hybrid Control modules have up-to-date software. They refused to offer any help and just told me to “take the vehicle and leave.” I don’t believe it’s normal for a car to lose propulsion from a weak 12V battery while driving. There seems to be a more complicated communication issue (P0607) that is happening, and it very much concerns me as losing propulsion on the highway is very dangerous.

While driving at highway speed on November 11, 2025, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure without warning. A “Battery Saver Mode” message appeared, and within seconds multiple safety systems began shutting down. First Failure: While driving on the highway and exiting, the vehicle abruptly lost power steering, ABS, stability control, airbag system, exterior lighting, dashboard displays, and engine power. Multiple warning lamps illuminated at once. Steering and braking became extremely difficult, creating an immediate safety risk. I was able to coast to a stop and park. The vehicle then appeared stable and the messages cleared. Second Failure: After restarting the vehicle, the warning reappeared. While driving on a major high-traffic roadway, the vehicle experienced a total electrical shutdown in active traffic and would not restart. Third Failure: A towing service attempted to jump-start the vehicle; it briefly powered on, illuminated nearly every warning light, then immediately shut down again with the radiator fan running at full speed. The electrical system continued to collapse and the vehicle required a full tow. Inspection and Diagnosis: The dealership confirmed a complete alternator and charging system failure at approximately 36,419 miles. This failure occurred at only 4 years of age, which is unusually early for an alternator or charging system failure. The vehicle’s original battery also failed unusually early (at only 2.5 years old) without warning, which may have been an early indication of a charging system issue. The vehicle is lightly used, garage-kept, never off-roaded, and regularly maintained. The sudden loss of steering assist, braking assist, airbags, lighting, and engine power at speed and in high-traffic areas created an extreme safety risk for myself and others. This appears to be a premature electrical system failure and may relate to broader charging system concerns reported in similar vehicles.

My Jeep 4xE popped a check engine light and I lost anything connected to the HV battery. The Jeep was lurching and driving strangely. The dealer said it required a new HV battery that was replaced under warranty. Just a week later the Jeep is recalled because these batteries could catch fire and I can no longer charge my vehicle or park in my garage. This means Jeep installed an HV battery that they knew was unsafe. This Jeep had a similar recall last year at the same time and received the “fix” which turns out did nothing to actually fix the issue with the HV batteries. I have lost confidence in this vehicle being safe for me and my family. This is dangerous and unacceptable!

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been through three separate recalls for the same high-voltage battery fire risk, each time with the same “software flash” remedy instead of a permanent repair. Recall 24V-111 (04B, Feb 2024): Software update to the Battery Management System (BMS) to detect battery faults. Recall 24V-720 (95B, Sept 2024): Reissued for the same defect, again using only a software update. Recall 25V-741 (68C, Oct 2025): A third campaign for the same issue, described once more as a “software flash followed by replacement if needed,” though parts are still unavailable. Each campaign cites potential separator damage inside the battery cells, which can lead to thermal events and fires. Despite multiple “fixes,” Stellantis has never provided an actual hardware remedy or replacement plan. Owners continue to be told to park away from structures and avoid charging their vehicles. More than a year after the first battery recall, the manufacturer still cannot supply a permanent remedy, exceeding the “reasonable time” requirement under federal safety law. I am filing this complaint because repeated software-only updates have not corrected the defect and the vehicle remains at risk of fire. NHTSA oversight is needed to ensure Stellantis provides a true, lasting fix rather than another temporary software patch.

Nov 11, 2025

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon with approximately 23,000 miles. I recently received notice of Recall 68C (high-voltage battery fire risk). Jeep’s instructions say not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, away from structures, because of potential fire risk. The manufacturer has stated that no repair will be available until at least March 2026, leaving owners unable to safely use or charge their vehicles for months. This recall follows multiple previous recalls and investigations involving fire risk or electrical system failures on the Wrangler 4xe, including earlier campaigns related to the hybrid battery and software updates. The repeated safety issues raise concerns about the overall safety and reliability of this model. My vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition, but I can no longer use it as intended as a plug-in hybrid or safely park it in my garage. Jeep has not offered a timely fix, loaner vehicle, or buyback. I am reporting this because the ongoing risk of fire, coupled with repeated recalls and long repair delays, represents a serious safety hazard that deserves immediate NHTSA attention.

The vehicle has multiple critical, uncorrected safety defects: Loss of Motive Power (RQ24012), Engine Contamination (CSN 78C), and Battery Fire Risk (Recall 68C). Incident Details (R/O [XXX], [XXX]): My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe experienced a sudden and complete Loss of Motive Power while operating. The customer concern noted on the Repair Order states the vehicle "seems to loose power while driving above 30MPH... and feel like it was going to turn off." This failure rendered the vehicle inoperable and created an extreme safety hazard on a major roadway [XXX] ), forcing me to coast to safety. Component Failure and Safety Risk: The failed components are the Engine (2.0L Turbo), Hybrid Propulsion System, and Electric Coolant Heater (ECH). The dealer's repair (R/O [XXX]) confirmed system instability by replacing the ECH. This loss of power is directly linked to the manufacturer's known defect (CSN 78C), where sand contamination in the engine can cause catastrophic failure and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. This mechanical defect is the root cause of the safety risk and is currently under NHTSA investigation (RQ24012). Additionally, the vehicle is subject to Recall 68C (Battery Fire Risk), preventing safe use of the PHEV system and forcing me to park away from structures. The combination of these uncorrected defects puts both my safety and the safety of others at risk. Warning Lamps: A 'Service Hybrid System' light or similar warning message appeared at the time of the incident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer (Price Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) and is documented in Repair Order [XXX]. The component is available for inspection upon request. My local dealer has all the documentation on this jeep. It has been into the dealership many times now the check engine light is on for another problem which I am taking it in again this weekend . When I ask the dealer, I’ve been seeing things on Facebook about these jeeps having issues they just filled me full of a bunch of Bull and says every vehicle has issues. I’ve ran the VIN number and found out that mine is one of them that just catches on fire plus sometimes shakes when it’s driving down the road but that’s been minor considering everything else. One time I was driving up the driveway and it felt like the transmission slipped or something. They said it was something in the four-wheel-drive that went out. This is a new vehicle. It has very low miles on it. I’ve had it going on maybe the fourth year now it’s only got 31,000 miles on it I don’t drive it very far. It’s been in the shop several times for recalls or things that’s happened to it. When I first got it, it left me stranded would not start. I’d only had it a few days. It has been a lemon from start to finish. I am terrified to drive it and I don’t have another vehicle. I paid $55,000 for this jeep just a few years ago. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I desperately need help if the manufacturer is refunding people’s monies I want to make sure that I get enough money to buy another vehicle because this one is only a few years old and it’s been in the shop numerous amount of times. The other day it shimmied a little bit on the highway and I thought it was the road and now I’m reading that there’s problems with that also, it’s clearly a lemon. But as I said, I’m scared to death to drive it now. The newest development as I’ve said is now the check engine light is on. It’s only been out of the shop for maybe three weeks since they fixed something in the four-wheel-drive which I’ve never even used. I love the looks of this Jeep, but it’s not dependable so I need help.

2021 jeep wrangler 4xe , power loss twice after recall was completed in 2022. INCIDENT AFTER RECALL completed. 1st - power loss, turtle sign. got stuck in hope BC, Canada. ECU FLASH fixed it, chilliwack, BC. 57000 miles roughly. Hv battery voltage sensor ckt performance issue. 2nd time- 62000 miles roughly, ABRUPT POWER LOSS on a highway, driving in passing lane 75mph, engine check lights on, after few secs full power loss, all lights on. After 30 mins of park mode, all lights went away. Towed it to dealership. They ordered a part, and is still stuck at dealership, since 15 days. Used my judgement & managed to safely coast and avoided risk of any incident. Turtle sign, and i think and something with battery verbiage popped up. Couldn't take an image as was in reactive mode. Parked and turned off the engine, called tow truck. After coming back from home waiting on a tow truck, turned on the car. All lights gone. Dealership found DTC's , crown jeep dublin perimeter drive, but couldn't recreate as per my knowledge, at this time. I am hoping dealership might fix my car soon. I am reaching out to let you know the recall countermeasure didnt fix the issue. Please push jeep for a permanent hard countermeasure, not a band aid. It's not just a severe inconvenience, but major risk for accidents on road. Dealership told me other cars came in for similar issue, due to OTA update for 24my and 25my 4xe's, and it was not applied on my car 21MY. Thanks

While driving the 'service shifter' warning will flash and once this happens the steering locks up and the car shuts down. This primarily happens when hitting a bump, pot hole, railroad tracks, etc. After the warning flashes and the steering locks up, every light on the dash comes on as the car is shutting down. The vehicle is in the shop for the 3rd time within 9 months for the same issue. The dealership replaced the star link connector saying that was the issue but it is still occurring. The vehicle is currently in the shop with this issue and they are saying there is nothing wrong and 'no codes being thrown.' We have had this happen at least a dozen times on us while driving. A handful without hitting a bump or one of the specified causes. Once this happens, the car become immobile and has to be towed. The first time this occurred was within 10 days of purchasing the vehicle; it started happening in January and is still occurring. After the dealership 'fixes' it, the issue will not occur for a couple of months then it will happen again.

My name is [XXX] , I am a citizen of Ukraine, and I currently reside in [XXX] . I am the owner of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ), purchased at a U.S. insurance auction in August 2024 and imported to Ukraine. In October 2024, Stellantis/Jeep announced Recall 95B due to a risk of high-voltage battery fire. I contacted Stellantis Global Support and their official representative in Ukraine (Peugeot Citroën Ukraine), but they refused to perform the recall repair, citing that the vehicle was imported from another market and was previously repaired in a non-authorized workshop. The vehicle’s front-end damage was cosmetic only and did not affect the battery or high-voltage system. A full diagnostic inspection at ADIS-MOTOR, an official Jeep service in Odesa, Ukraine, confirmed the battery and all safety systems are fully operational. Despite this, Stellantis refused to include my vehicle in Recall 95B, leaving a fire-risk defect unresolved. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this case and ensure Stellantis fulfills its recall obligations for all affected vehicles, including those exported from the U.S. and located abroad. My 2021 Jeep wrangler (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced an instrument cluster failure. I took the jeep to the local Jeep dealer for maintenance and verified the instrument cluster (IC) needs to be replaced. This issue is present for other 2021 Jeep wranglers (same make/model) and there is an active recall for them (NHTSA ID: 21V949000). However, my Jeep is not currently listed under the recall but has the same exact issue and requires IC replacement. 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, VIN [XXX] , Recall P0DAB-00 (Hybrid/EV Cell Balancing Performance Case #[XXX], Jeep corporate case manager Tiona. On 8/11/25, I brought my vehicle to Freeland Jeep, Antioch, TN for a separate issue and requested inspection for the open EV battery recall. The dealership gave a “green flag,” confirming no recall impact. On [XXX], the check engine light came on and the vehicle drove unsafely. On [XXX], the exact recall issue (P0DAB-00) was diagnosed — the same issue we asked to be inspected. Approval for hybrid battery replacement was granted; part was ordered for 9/3 with repair by 9/5 — repair never occurred. Service advisor Brian Astorga claimed the part “cannot be located.” Calls/emails to service manager David Beasley and case manager Tiona are unanswered. The timing is highly suspicious: the vehicle failed immediately after the “all clear” inspection, suggesting potential negligence or miscommunication. We are now more than 1 month without a vehicle, which is unsafe and unacceptable. AND we even had to argue with Jeep to cover a rental! Requested Action: Require Jeep to complete the recall repair immediately or initiate a full buyback. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ubject: Urgent Safety Concern – Jeep 4xe Battery Recall Repair Failure Hello, A few months ago, my Jeep 4xe was brought in for the battery recall. The dealer informed me that the issue was resolved, but did not provide any clear details on what exactly was done. On [XXX], while leaving the U.S. Bank and making a left turn, my Jeep suddenly stopped in the middle of the road with a warning message: “Hybrid battery failed, cannot maintain speed.” The vehicle then crawled forward at a snail’s pace, even though the engine was still running and my foot was fully on the throttle. Fortunately, there was no speeding car coming from my left—otherwise this could have caused a serious accident, injury, or even death. Eventually, I was able to pull over to the right side, but the Jeep completely stopped again, creating a major traffic backup with constant honking. I was in a panic trying to call for roadside assistance. After about 5–10 minutes, I restarted the Jeep, pressed the brakes, and it finally began moving again. This was an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. If it had occurred on the highway, the outcome could have been catastrophic. I am urgently requesting that you contact the dealer immediately to investigate what went wrong with the recall repair, and why the issue was not properly resolved. Please instruct them to take immediate action to permanently fix this problem—whether that requires replacing the faulty battery or addressing any other underlying issue. I need assurance that I can drive this vehicle with peace of mind, without fearing for my safety or the safety of others. Thank you for your prompt attention. I look forward to your quick response and resolution. Sincerely, [XXX] VIN No: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Instrument Panel Cluster Failure Vehicle and incident details: Vehicle: Jeep (model year unknown) Date of failure: Evening of April 14, 2025 Symptoms: The instrument panel cluster went completely blank during a 25-mile drive far from home. Functionality lost: The ability to see speed, gas level, headlight status, and all alert lights. Prior warnings: No warning lights or alerts appeared before the failure. Repair status: The vehicle is at an authorized Jeep dealer, which has confirmed the issue is with the instrument panel cluster. Jeep has been notified and is working to replace the parts. Key event timeline: April 14, 2025: Instrument panel fails while driving. April 15, 2025: Car is taken to an authorized Jeep dealer for inspection. Post-inspection: Dealer informs the owner of the instrument panel cluster issue.

Instrument Cluster Panel failure while driving. There was a recall for this part in many other jeeps in 2024, it’s time to throw another recall for this one as well. There are so many failures that the part is on backorder, my Jeep has been sitting at the dealership waiting for this part for 5 months now and there is still no expected date. My Jeep has been sitting on the lot waiting to be fixed for longer than I ever got to drive it after purchasing. Cant take it elsewhere because the odometer doesn’t function.

Started Jeep dash lights did not function. Restarted Jeep and while driving noticed no compass reading & clock was incorrect. Both began to show proper readings in app 2 minutes. Checked all battery connections positive & ground on main battery. Second battery not accessible.Next day started Jeep clock off by several hours again. Corrected itself in a few minutes again. This occurred again a few days later. Fearful of short or battery issue that could shut down vehicle power while in motion or cause fire. Dealer replaced both batteries app 1 year ago & serviced Jeep with multi point inspection app 5 days before issues started.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The hybrid-electric system, including the high-voltage battery, battery pack control module (BPCM), and associated cooling systems, repeatedly malfunctioned. These failures caused loss of power while driving, electrical odors, and error messages. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for service and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has lost power multiple times while in motion, including on city streets and highways. These unexpected power losses significantly increased the risk of rear-end collisions and limited my ability to safely accelerate or steer in traffic. I have had to take anxiety medication when driving the vehicle due to fear of these events recurring, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of my family, including a newborn passenger. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issues have been confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Despite several recall campaigns and attempted repairs, the same power loss and electrical system problems have recurred. Service advisors and technicians acknowledged the problems and attempted component replacements and reprogramming, but the malfunctions persist. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected and serviced exclusively by an authorized Jeep/Chrysler dealership (Autonation CDJR in Roseville, CA). There is no indication that FCA/Stellantis corporate has physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership reports. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Warning lights and messages su

⸻ Title: Loss of Power While Driving on Freeway – Dangerous Malfunction Similar to Recall 23V-116 Complaint Description: I am reporting a serious and dangerous malfunction with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel. While driving on a high-speed freeway (70–80 MPH), all warning lights on the dashboard illuminated—including the check engine light—and the vehicle suddenly went into limp mode, resulting in a loss of power. This occurred in fast-moving traffic, putting me at immediate risk of a crash. This started happening again every time I got on the freeway for 10 minutes. I’ve owned this Jeep for about a year, have never taken it off-road, and have kept it properly maintained. All electrical components, fuses, and systems have been inspected, and no clear cause has been found. The problem persists and is clearly not due to driver use or negligence. This issue strongly resembles Recall Number 23V-116, which states that affected vehicles may experience a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. That recall was for 2021 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, the same model and year as mine. However, my VIN was not included, despite the fact that I’m experiencing the exact same symptoms described in the recall notice: “A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.” This issue began occurring shortly after that recall was issued, and it has happened multiple times, mostly during highway driving—making the vehicle extremely unsafe. I believe my vehicle should have been included in Recall 23V-116, as this is clearly a safety-related defect involving the powertrain or control module software. This is an urgent safety issue, and I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate why this VIN was excluded from the recall and consider expanding the recall to cover additional affected vehicles before someone gets seriously injured or worse. Vehicle Information: •Year: 2021 •Make: Jeep •Model: Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel •Transmission: Automatic

Vehicle check engine light illuminated along with multiple other lights on the dashboard. It had a difficult time accelerating on its own, very sluggish. At the next light the gas pedal was just tapped and the vehicle began to over accelerate increasing to over 30 MPH in a turning lane while crossing an intersection. Avoided a car accident and pulled into the nearest parking lot. That was the second time that type of incident occurred. The first time, the vehicle was self accelerating during 5 o’clock traffic in Los Angeles. We had to constantly press on the brakes only to avoid accidents until we could exit the freeway.

Unpredictable complete loss of power steering that will continue until the brakes are applied and speed is reduced to approximately 30 mph and voltage level spikes, as high as 16.3 volts as shown on the instrument panel. It is not temperature related. When disabled it requires two hands and extreme strength to turn, especially when taking an off ramp. Voltage level is typically ranging between 12.7 - 13.7 volts during normal conditions as well as when in no power steering conditions. The first trip 3-4 months ago to the dealership and the only finding was a corroded ground loop which did not solve the issue. After no success begging for a loaner car we left the Jeep 19JUN25 while on vacation for second trip this week. I requested them to contact Stellantis STAR Center and this is the report: 24JUN25 Good morning - our STAR case engineer pointed us in the direction of a similar STAR publication that we had followed the last visit. I did not find any faults within the charging system or any voltage regulators at this point. There were 5 labeled grounds in this publication that were common for building up corrosion. The ground that is on the frame near the driver rear close to the 48v battery had a large amount of corrosion. He cleaned up each ground and applied dielectric grease yesterday, so now I am having him take on a few test drives to see if the issue persists. I have a video of the spike leading to steering reengagement but unable to upload it.

My jeep started leaving me stranded 8 times. The jeep would not start but had warning lights of " service charging system" , with picture of a battery in left of dash, a wrench, engine light, and it won't go into neutral to have it towed. I had it in the shop twice, and they cannot figure out the cause. They did update the computer to cover the recall from automatic combustion. { updated the computer) . It got worse, the car is now cutting off while on. I had it towed to the jeep dealer aging tonight . The dashboard lights do not come onto until after engine failure. This is a hybrid, I was told by Crossroads to keep the vehicle charged but this has not corrected the problem.

May 18, 2025

The video for my backup camera became intermittent, then stopped working. I brought it into the shop. They say the camera is not the problem and that it is either a connection under the dash or a radio problem. The next diagnosis step will take 3 hours and $675 just to take the dash apart. This is a safety issue, a defect in manufacture, and not related to wear and tear. In researching online, this is appears to be a complaint that a number of others have had.

May 12, 2025

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety and reliability issues with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, purchased from Heritage Jeep in Logan, Utah. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and severe electrical failures, including: The vehicle failing to start on numerous occasions Complete loss of electrical systems (dash, lights, ignition) Batteries failing to hold or receive charge Multiple warning indicators that do not resolve after service attempts These failures have rendered the vehicle inoperable for over 65 days total since the date of purchase. Despite multiple service visits and numerous documented attempts to address these problems, the dealership—Heritage Jeep in Logan—has not been able to resolve the underlying issue. I have retained all service records, work orders, and correspondence to support these claims. This issue not only causes significant inconvenience, but it raises serious safety concerns, especially when the vehicle becomes unresponsive or loses power without warning. I believe this may reflect a defect in the vehicle’s electrical or hybrid system and warrants investigation to protect other consumers. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) open a formal investigation into this vehicle and hold the manufacturer and dealership accountable for the ongoing safety risk and failure to adequately repair or replace the vehicle under warranty. I was also in regular contact with Jeep Corporate throughout the ongoing issues, but they stopped responding before a resolution was reached. I have retained all email correspondence documenting those interactions.

Apr 25, 2025

After picking up the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe from the dealership for repairs to the rotors and struts and bearings, the Wrangler was running roughly. Before I was halfway home, I called the dealer back to explain the engine was running roughly, wasn't able to get over 40mph, and was acting as if it was going to stall or lose power. I stated I needed to bring it back because I wasn't going to be able to drive it like this. Before I got halfway back to the dealership, the Wrangler lost power and was making a noise as if it was going to blow up. I was barely able to get it off the side of the road and narrowly missed a rearend collision from the vehicle behind me. I was on a dark, heavily traveled two lane road during evening work traffic hours. Dealership did send a tow truck. This occurred late October of 2024. The vehicle is still at the dealership and is still not repaired or running as of today 4/25/25 although the dealer says they are working to locate the exact problem. The dealership state after initially suspecting the e-battery, it is an electrical problem but are unable to locate the exact location of the electrical problem. The dealership stated they have opened a ticket with Stellantis and that Stellantis sent a technician to examine the vehicle and determined that is indeed an electrical issue but did not know where the problem was or how to repair. It appears that the Wrangler is not repairable, and it is still under the manufactures warranty of 3 years/36,000. I have included service invoices that show there were 2 other incidents where the Wrangler would not start. In one other incident, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Just before the vehicle lost power, multiple warning lights began lighting up the dashboard, including (believe it or not) a turtle. I am uncertain as to what else came up, it was cold, dark and I was on a heavily traveled road during work traffic hours. A Sheriff's Department deputy did respond to my location.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was started, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the vehicle was sluggish and was shaking abnormally. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with battery failure. The contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that an unknown recall repair was performed two years prior, including the replacement of the battery. In addition, the contact stated that in November 2024, the vehicle was taken to the dealer because the battery was not charging. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed twice; however, the cases were closed. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

On [XXX], I was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. I still noticed the smell did not go away. So I opened the windows & turned off the AC. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. This was completely a safety hazard to myself, two friends and the public. Luckily, there was a fire department just a few buildings down. They arrived shortly after the 911 call and put out the fire, preventing further damage to the surroundings. It was terrifying but thankfully we are all safe. Feb 21, 2025

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Rubicon. My vehicle has been recalled three times for updates. I have had one recall done for the defroster due to the faulty software that can cause reduced visibility increasing a risk of a crash. The second one was for risk of fire from a faulty high voltage battery driving or parked. The third recall call was to update software for the high voltage battery in which doing so caused my vehicle not to fully charge and to lose power when driving and not be able to start for hours at a time. I now have brought my vehicle back to the Jeep service center for a diagnostic test and it was found that the high voltage battery pack is faulty in which Jeep has said they will put a new battery in once approved from Chrysler. Jeep has not been able to be able to fix the problem with Hybrid battery packs possibly catching on fire or exploding and the new one I'd be getting would risk the same problems possibly injuring or killing myself or any passengers I might have in the vehicle. Jeep is not able to get to the root of the cause of why these high volt battery can go on fire even when they are not in use causing possible property damage to my home or neighbors. I am told in the recall to park my vehicle away from properties and other cars which is impossible to do. I hope you take this serious matter into consideration that Jeep Corporation must find a solution for this Nationwide problem and for people on the road.

I have attempted to contact Jeep multiple times. All my communications, except for one, have been ignored. Please, see attached communications. Way too many recalls, including the last one where the vehicle can catch on fire.

The jeep was taken to the dealership under a software battery recall and the software was updated. One week later while driving at approximately 55mph, there was a sudden jerk in the propulsion system. the car shifted abruptly from electric to gas motor and the electric mode was unavailable. The vehicle jerked and hesitated at every acceleration and deceleration causing unsafe operating conditions . The check engine light was on I returned it to the dealer immediately and was told that the high voltage hybrid battery was bad. I'm pretty convinced from my and other experiences that the software up date was not a remedy to previous incidents reported to you. It was a software patch that determined if the battery was bad.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The voltage meter increased excessively. The vehicle was started, and the contact drove the vehicle to a nearby parking space. The contact turned the vehicle off. The contact allowed the vehicle to remain turned off for a while. The vehicle was started, and a service battery message was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed battery pack. The contact was informed that the battery pack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The repair was performed under the recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 24E080000 (Electrical System). The failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and the battery was charging, the contact noticed the front fan was running extremely hard. The contact disconnected the battery charger. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the aluminum battery cover was extremely hot. The contact used a temperature gauge to check the temperature of the aluminum battery cover and determined that the temperature was 106 degrees and was increasing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 21,385.

While cruising control is engaged, turning the steering wheel 5-10 degrees to the right will result in disruption of the cruise control and displaying a message "cruise control cancelled." This results in an abrupt deceleration during a turn that is unexpected and can create a safety hazard. Additionally, the illumination of steering wheel switches flickers with 5 degrees of right turn. This appears to be consistent with the findings of recall 15B, but my VIN is not included in the recall.

Jan 30, 2025

When I was driving I smelled something electrical burning and my eyes starting burning on my way in to work. On my way home, the same thing happened however I noticed smoke coming from my steering wheel. I shut my heated steering wheel off. I took it to the dealership the following day and they told me my wiring melted in the steering wheel and also stated they are surprised it did not catch on fire. They said i need to replace the entire steering wheel. I have 37,000 miles on my vehicle. Ironically 1000 miles past the warranty. They have no explanation for why this happened however I was told this is a common thing, as many others have had this happen.

Our vehicle experiences loss of motive power as well as a complete disconnect from the battery. All diagnostics have shown that physical battery connections are good. We have been left on the side of the road with the inability to drive the vehicle above 20 mph. It is extremely dangerous when moving through an intersection or driving on the highway. We get a sudden warning lamp of a battery, charging cable, and turtle. They appeared 4 days after the purchase of the vehicle.

The instrument panel is not working at all, it is totally black. I can not see speed, gas amount, any emergency lights, i can not tell if my lights are on bright or dim, if my turn signal is on or anything. I have already been stranded on the side of a busy highway at night because of this. I have to use my phone to see speed which leads to me being distracted from the road to see how fast i am driving. There has been a recall but for some reason does not include my VIN # even tho it is the same issue of the recall. I don't want to pay for a new instrument panel if that is not the issue. Evidently mopar knows what the issue is because it recalled 30000 vehicles for this issue.

Loss of power when the Jeep was in hybrid mode (Both electric and gasoline engine). This was due to Battery not able to regulate the internal temperature (confirmed by the dealer).

Jan 13, 2025

The engine and cluster showed and made noises indicating that the hybrid system was malfunctioning. The cluster indicated a speed limit at high speeds, but never did so. The electric drivetrain was disconnected and the handling and power were severely affected. It was dangerous because the distracting and concerning issues were during a rapid speed and in dangerous conditions with no clear remedy. The check engine, red turtle, and battery lights indicated the problem, but not beforehand. There were some warranty fixes around the battery including recall work.

The vehicle’s check engine light come on earlier this year and the electric motor/battery was not functioning properly. It was serviced in September and I was told by the dealership that the software update would resolve the issue. It did not. The vehicle was serviced again on 12/13/24 and I was told that it passed the 95B recall test but that the check engine light came back on. The dealership said they ran more tests and now the electric cooling/heating unit needs to be replaced but they won’t have the part for approximately 2 weeks. The electric cooling/heating unit is for controlling climate within the vehicle and should not affect its propulsion. While driving the vehicle the day after I picked it up from the dealership, I was nearly involved in what would’ve been a serious accident. I was turning at an intersection, but the vehicle lost motor function and would not accelerate, leaving me sitting in the intersection with traffic oncoming. Fortunately, after several seconds, the vehicle began to move with not much time to spare. This problem recurred throughout my drive returning home. I have not and will not drive the vehicle again until I am able to return to the dealership for a third time.

I was traveling on the [XXX] on Sunday [XXX] and while started smelling brakes and I got off at the service area and pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn’t stop. I had no brake pedal and just heard a clicking sound. There were people everywhere and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle towards a yellow pole which did stop the vehicle but I have been told after the car was towed to a shop that there is an error code B22A9 and believe it was caused by some ecu failure of some sort. The vehicle is in really bad shape and airbags also didn’t deploy. I would like this to be investigated as I would not feel safe in this vehicle if it’s repaired and returned to service. It is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and I am aware of issues being reported with the battery but nothing for this problem except for other mentions on the internet on owners having similar problems intermittently. The jeep will be towed to Pohanka Jeep in Salisbury Md. There wasn’t any warning lights. I give permission for the vehicle to be inspected at anytime. I feel this vehicle is a danger to the public safety being it was just serviced and inspected by a Jeep dealership 2 weeks prior and the brakes suddenly fall and now there’s a code with something to do with an ecu or electronics having to do with the brakes failing. Could have been killed in the accident or seriously hurt if I hadn’t exited off the road and used the pole to stop the vehicle. The electric motor system does not engage on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe Plug In Hybrid. When you press the accelerator pedal after a stop (e.g. at an intersection or to make a left turn), the Jeep electrical motor does not engage. The Jeep may drift into the intersection or oncoming traffic without motive force. After a period of time, the gas engine will engage. I estimate the delay to be about 30 seconds. I often depress the accelerator multiple times before the gas engine engages. This is extremely dangerous as the vehicle drifts into an intersection, and could potentially be hit by oncoming traffic. The vehicle shows an engine light identified as a voltage inconsistency in the main battery. It appears the entire electrical motive system is shut down, but the computer is still calling on it to operate. When it does not operate, the gas engine will start, but there is a significant and extremely dangerous delay. I have called the dealership and Jeep to request guidance on how to address this issue, but neither has been able to provide any assistance. They tell me there is a pending recall but no solution available.

I purchased my Jeep March 14th 2024 I purchased my Jeep as a buy back that had already been fixed. I purchased an additional 6000 warranty to be double protected. I received a letter from FCA on 10.18.2024 stating the 95B recall letting me know my vehicle can catch on fire at anytime. They also have no fix for this issue. I want them to buy back my jeep due to this extremely dangerous recall and they refuse. I cannot begin to explain how unsafe I feel on a daily basis. This has given me extreme anxiety that I now have to take daily medication for. I think it’s criminal that they will not buy back my jeep! There has to be a class action lawsuit if not I’ll hire my own attorney. This is beyond criminal.

Jeep/Stellantis needs more oversight over their 4XE "Battery Separator" problems. November 22, 2023 (Recall B9A) - Battery Separator Fires September 28, 2024 (Recall 95A/B) - Battery Separator Fires Clearly Stellantis has known about this exact issue for around a year, and likely significantly longer in the lead-up to issuing the original B9A recall. How many cars need to catch fire? How many people should risk injury? How much loss-of use is acceptable for those not able to charge their EVs? Clearly Stellantis is simply struggling to find a way to reduce their liability, by narrowing down the affected vehicles. However after 12-18 months, enough is enough.

Oct 26, 2024

My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

Oct 26, 2024

Vehicle stops at low speed and will not move. When placed in park it will not shift back into drive. Hybrid charge lights flashing and several warning lights display on the dash. The dealer is waiting on parts that Jeep says are back ordered indefinitely. Dealership say keep driving it. Jeep is looking for the parts but have not addressed the significant safety risk of shutting down in the roadway and unable to move. I have to shut the vehicle down in the roadway and wait to restart the vehicle to clear the issue. It will not even allow me to pull the emergency transmission release when this condition occurs to move the vehicle out of the roadway.

Oct 25, 2024

My instrument cluster went blank while I was driving on several occasions and I felt very unsafe and had to pull over to safety. Once I shut the vehicle off and restarted it the cluster returned to normal condition but then it happened again. I took it to the Jeep service center and they told me there was no recall 30B on my vehicle. Now what should I do?

On October 17th. The vehicle exhibited serious electrical issues when I attempted to start it in my school parking lot. Upon pressing the start button, the car would not start, and all electrical items began malfunctioning. The lights inside and outside the vehicle were flashing, the windshield wipers activated on their own, the horn was beeping intermittently, and the car was emitting alarming noises. The situation escalated when the tow truck driver arrived. He was unable to start the vehicle. Instead, the engine produced a loud revving sound, as if it were about to blow up. This experience was not only frustrating but also alarming, considering the potential safety risks. The dealership said they will get to it as soon as they can, but are 7-10 days booked.

My instrument panel is not working, it went completely black, then it flashed on and off while driving, now it is completely black again. I can't see how fast i am going can't tell how much gas i have in the tank, and all the warning lights won't work, this caused me to run out of gas on the side of the highway and have to have someone being gas and put in the tank risking getting hit, not to mention it is just unsafe for the instrument panel to not work

I would like to express a concern with how Jeep is handing the issue with the hybrid batteries in the Wrangler 4XE. I'm connected with the 4XE across the US and Canada and I am seeing issues with how they are addressing the potential for fires in the batteries. In my case, my Jeep was initially part of the B9A recall but was removed from the list. I was on the 04B recall list and had that update performed. A few months later, my battery triggered the P0BBD code that indicated that I needed a new battery. We have seen this trend in the 4XE community where someone who wasn't on the B9A list ended up having a battery issue. Some of these instances include Jeeps that were on the 04B list but had yet to receive that update because Jeep communicated that it was a "defrost" recall without telling customers that they were receiving the same updates that were included in the B9A. So some people are putting off a very important recall because they believe it is just a defrost recall. After I had my battery replaced, the latest 95B recall was issued. My Jeep is on this recall list even though I just had a new battery installed. It would sure seem like the issue with the separators in the battery would have already been known when my new battery was installed. To me, that is an unsafe mishandling of the situation to put a known faulty battery in during a replacement. I do not feel that Jeep is handing these battery issues well and I believe they need some sort of accountability in place to make sure they are truly resolving the issue and not putting band aids on a major issue. We have tracked some data in the 4XE community and are aware that way more batteries were impacted than Jeep announced would be. As well, many batteries have had to be replaced after the recall. This tell me that either Jeep isn't being very forthcoming with the data or they just don't know the correct method for addressing this matter. We need something done before someone gets hurt or killed.

I saw in the news on 9/30/24 that my 2021 Jeep 4XE Wrangler was recalled due to a safety issue (Jeep could catch fire). No information was available that day indicating whether my Jeep was included in the recall. I called my local Jeep dealer and they had no information. I waited for more information to be released on 10/1/24 and saw nothing. I chose to park my Jeep outside and not charge because of what I had heard in the news. I called Mopar on 10/2/24 and was told that the VIN numbers had not been released for the recall but would be released on 10/3/24. I checked my VIN on that day and saw that my vehicle was included in the recall. I called my Jeep service center and was told that they don't have the parts for the recall and they may not be available for months. I asked if I needed to continue to park outside and not charge and was told they don't know anything about that. I called Mopar on 10/4/24 and was told that there is no remedy available and that I do need to park outside and not charge due to fire risk. What if I did not watch the news? What if I did not make these calls? This is safety concern if very alarming to me. I am now stuck with a Jeep that I can no longer charge (which is why I bought it) and I am concerned it could catch on fire and there is no timeline on the fix for this hazardous situation. This is the second recall for a fire hazard for this Jeep. How do I know this time it will be fixed? Thank you for your attention to this frustrating and dangerous situation.

Hi the two major issues that need to reported. 1. The vehicle would just shut down while driving at highway speeds. It would have trouble restarting and you would have to cost to the shoulder. This issue was random, we took it to the dealership and they drove it for a week until it left them on the side of the road. They kept it for just over a month and a star case had to be opened. 2. 2nd issue, The vehicle would shutter when accelerating and would shutter when braking. Extremely dangerous when trying to drive it back to the dealership. It had something to do with the vehicle not knowing if it wanted to be in electric or gas. this also caused the ac to stop working and the blind spot system not to work . This time they had it for just over a month to change the main battery. Both case the vehicle was unsafe to be on the road and could have led to a major accident.

Our vehicle electrical components has been acting up since we bought it in 2021 (all lights flashing, stalling and not able to restart the vehicle). In 2023, the vehicle stalled in the middle of a 6 lanes busy highway and would not restart. Following this, recalls were performed (unknown if related to any issues). Again, our vehicle stalled and wouldn't start again even after all recalls were performed. Our dealer said it is unsafe to drive and will change the EV Battery but from reading online forums, this did not solve the major similar issues for other Jeep 4Xe owners. When issues occurred, all warning lights would turn on and the most recent issue, the engine light stayed on. The Jeep has been with the dealership for over a month. There was no accidents, luckily as other vehicles managed to avoid us luckily as this could haven been a tragic accident even fatal.

Jul 12, 2024

I was driving on the highway and loss of power warning appeared on the dashboard just before the entire vehicle shut off. I was able to safely cross 3 lanes of traffic and waiting for a tow truck. When the vehicle shut off there were not issues with the Jeep, very little warning and the vehicle eventually was able to start back up. The dealership was not able to diagnose the issue.

Vehicle was in the Jeep Dealer Garage 3 times within first 6 months of purchase. It would not start, it wouldn't turn over. Absolutely nothing. First time in they said my wife must have done something wrong because the next day it worked fine. Next time it happened to me, again I must have done something wrong because next day it was fine and they couldn't find a problem. Third time they found something (not sure what) but assured us problems were over. Next incident was January 2024, car now out of warranty and I was told it needed 2 new batteries at a cost of $800. Next incident is now, Vehicle wouldn't start and I had to get a jump to drop it off at dealer again. Next day they tested batteries and said they were good. Vehicle is still there 4 days later because they don't know.

After charging my vehicle, I received a “Service Charging System” followed by a check engine light. I tried to shift gears from P (parking) to R (reverse) and it wouldn’t let me. When I finally got it to drive, my vehicle was only throwing hot air and it wouldn’t accelerate. I was going about 20 miles per hour and it loss all the speed. When I got to the light and tried to accelerate again, it moved for like 10 seconds and I wasn’t able to accelerate again leaving me stopped at the intersection for about 30 seconds. Once I was able to move again, my vehicle would stall.

Jun 23, 2024 Crash

While driving my vehicle in four-wheel-drive low, with no lockers engaged I noticed that the rear wheels at different times were dragging, I could also hear and feel the ABS module actuating. During these events I would have diminished breaking capabilities and no ABS warning lights. it was doing it under 5 miles an hour at first and then higher speeds. I got a service ABS, service traction control, service stability control, four-wheel-drive unavailable, service four-wheel-drive system Messages all of a sudden, and i disengaged the four-wheel-drive lover back to 2 Wheel Drive. At this point the brake pedal was hard and would not move, my back left wheel was completely locked. I shut the vehicle down waited a few minutes and restarted it, all of the lights were still active but I was able to move the vehicle. I began traveling forward and the rear wheels alternated locking up. I started backing up to move to a safe position, the brake pedal became hard and I was unable to stop causing my vehicle to collide with a wall, speed was below 5 miles an hour but still caused damage to my left rear quarter panel and fiberglass top. After we assessed the damage, I put the vehicle in 2 Wheel Dr., disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, and was able to drive the vehicle to a parking lot in 2 Wheel Dr. After this point and not having phone service, use a satellite communicator to call a local off-road recovery nonprofit that I volunteer for, they were able to assist in bringing a trailer out to tow my vehicle home as it is unsafe to drive and my children were with me. Unloading the vehicle off the trailer all the lights were gone with the exception of a check engine light is now on. The vehicle is currently sitting in my driveway and will be requesting a tow to the local dealership for them to troubleshoot .

jeep was unable to remedy this issue for 6 months, since November 2023. I called and they gave me the run around. After a period of 10 minutes in stop-and-go traffic, a shift warning light indicated on the warning panel. All the lights for the gear shift lever would light up individually. The vehicle turned off the stability control system and indicated a warning to proceed driving however the vehicle may not be able to shift into park. After about 3 miles of driving, it felt like the power steering stopped working and it was extremely difficult to control and turn the vehicle. It also felt like the vehicle would not shift properly. Once the vehicle was to the side of the road, it indicated that the vehicle was not in park despite moving the gear shift lever to park. The vehicle would not turn off of accessory mode. Had whatever happened to the power steering happened at any higher rate of speed, the vehicle would have been impossible to control in a turn or traffic. It took every bit of arm strength to coax the vehicle to the side of the road.

High voltage battery safety recall is unavailable because parts are not available. I was told to call back in a few week. Recall states not to plug in or park in garage or near other vehicles. This poses a serious risk to myself and others and should be repaired immediately or the entire vehicle needs recalled and replaced. I am terrified to be near or even use my vehicle now. I have been waiting for a recall to be fixed and Jeep has no known date of delivery for the recall part BUT Jeep has new ones on the lot for sale. My entire vehicle is acting up, one day my reverse sensors malfunction then they don't, my defrost is not working, I can't remote start at all and I live in Buffalo so I need a warm vehicle, the Jeep 4xe will jump forward when coming to a stop, the heater isn't responding when I turn up dial, the death wobble has happened. And my dealer is worthless - no communication so I have to resort to this writing. I bought the 4xe Jan 4, 2021 (brand new) because the "electric" miles get me back and forth to work just fine and less money for gas. The Jeep itself was $63K, and I bought extended warranty. Fast forward to today. I have gone over 2 months w/o electric b/c no parts avail.

I received a recall notice (B9A) for my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe due to a risk of vehicle fire. The notice states that we should not recharge the vehicle and not park inside buildings nor near other vehicles. I spoke with FCA recall assistance today and they confirmed that there is no remedy available and, despite it being more than two months since sending the notice, no timeline for when a remedy will be rolled out. They have not offered a replacement or a refund as options.

FROM JEEP - "An internally failed HV battery could lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. Customers are advised to refrain from recharging these vehicles and not to park them inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed." First: I live in Philadelphia and DO NOT have the ability to park away from structures, buildings or other vehicles. The jeep 4xe is capable of lighting on fire at ANY POINT and there is nothing I can do to reduce my risk. The recall has been made public since Nov 22,2023 and there is still no lead on a fix nearly 3 months later. Second: These are plug in hybrid vehicles that are of premium cost for the plug in/electric feature. Losing the ability to charge them greatly reduces the use and value of the vehicle. This is by far the worst recall I have ever seen and am dumbfounded that I now sit here nearly 100 days after the recall with no further instruction or lead on a solution. Jeep should be forced to compensate and provide a reasonable alternative until the solution is established.

We purchased our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE/4WD Hybrid in December of 2021. Since our purchase, we've received multiple recall notices which were since resolved. The volume of these recalls has been concerning to us, especially for such an expensive vehicle for which we had an expectation of quality. However, the most recent recall for the High Voltage Battery B9A/NHTSA 23V-787 is a catastrophic problem because we live in an attached townhome community. This exposes us personally to both catastrophic danger AND liability. Secondarily, we paid a hefty premium purchase price for a hybrid vehicle, a function that is lost to us now. We also incurred the considerable expense of installing a charger in our garage, for use with our Jeep Rubicon. We can no longer use this charging station.

Recall has no repair at this time. It is unsafe to drive a vehicle that the the High Voltage battery may fail internally. The letter received explains a vehicle fire can result in fire with the ignition or or off. This recall can cause injury to occupants, person outside the vehicle and property damage. It is recommended not to be charged or parked inside buildings or structures. Unsafe to have this vehicle. Please assist me in returning it to the manufacturer! I can be reached at [XXX] . This matter is urgent as it places myself and others at risk! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

1. Driving 70 mph on [XXX], the road was somewhat rough. I experienced severe wobbling (Chrysler calls this a shimmy) from the front end up to the steering wheel. I had to slow to about 35 mph so I could maintain control of the car. Jeep dealership said the car was manufactured with an older steering dampener. A new one is not available. 2. The display screen sometimes takes over many electrical functions. Heat and defrosting were not working during driving in a snow storm. Both of these deficiencies are safety issues and should be on a recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My car has been recalled more times than actually driven when leased. The manufacturer offers no help or returns phone calls. The latest recall is extremely hazardous and dangerous. I am advised to not drive it, not charge it, and not park next to any structure. They do not have a remedy, and still want to continue charging me for the lease. I’ve complained numerous times about this car and have been ignored incessently.

RECALL ON BATTERY, NO REMEDY, CAN'T CHARGE MY JEEP, CAN'T PARK IN THE GARAGE, MPG IS DOWN TO 18 (TYPICALLY STAYS AROUND 24-25 IN WINTER) DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT HELPFUL, JEEP IS NOT COMMUNICATING AS THEY SHOULD. RECALL B9A. I ALSO BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE EMISSIONS FROM THIS, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON TWICE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE JEEP (BOUGHT NEW IN 6/21) CAN'T CHARGE THE JEEP OR USE REMOTE START UNTIL RESET. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS A READING STATING THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE GAS TANK, COULDN'T FIND THE LEAK SO RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT.

I spent extra money to get a Jeep Wrangler 4xe, and for over a month now it has been under recall 89a. I have to pay for gas and park far away from everyone and everything, as though that is even possible. If I don’t and my new, expensive vehicle catches fire I will somehow be liable if someone chooses to park next to me, or if my driveway isn’t long enough and the fire spreads. There is no fix or compensation in sight and I am angry that this has happened to the car that I used to love.

Owners are advised not to recharge their vehicles and to park outside and away from structures until they are repaired. There are a few reasons why this should be a NON-Driveable recall. 1. The recall involves risk of fire and injury to those in or near the car or property. 2. It is a significant hardship to have to continuously park a car outside of the garage due to extreme cold. Often times homes/apartment buildings simply do not have outdoor parking. 3. It is also extremely challenging to find a place to park the car away from others when driving about town. How does one do that in busy parking lots and parking structures? This would be difficult in any state but far more pronounced in states with cold climates where the vast majority of parking areas are busy and often covered or enclosed. 4.If something catastrophic happened to the Hybrid battery system where the Hybrid system didn't work, you would essentially be stranded. This seems counterintuitive with a separate gas powertrain and separate Hybrid powertrain. 0% is still about 15% general operating condition for the electric assist. There is always some type of regen working to maintain that SOC. That is unacceptable for a dealership to treat this as it is and not notified the customers when or what could be done.

3 incidents of “death wobble,” first time between 4-5,000 miles and again in October and November of 2023. I’m waiting for another damper as the one they received is leaking. Also, discovered leaking shock absorber. Dangerous and terrifying as you fell like you’ll lose control of your vehicle! I’m going on being out of pocket for car rentals for 5 weeks, although reimbursed it’s still out of pocket initially. I’ve twice been told “it’s fixed!” and it’s happened again! Happens on any slight pavement change and at higher speeds 60-65 mph. The battery recall just came in and complicates my safety and confidence in this vehicle. Unacceptable that it can’t be near other vehicles, charged or stored in my garage!

I since have moved the harness away and tied it back and have had 0 issues.

We wish to file a complaint for recall B9A (recall date November 22, 2023), also known as NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V787000: "High Voltage Battery May Fail and Cause Fire A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.". It has been 30 days since this recall and after multiple inquiries with Chrysler and associated dealerships, no remedy has been made available. No replacement or temporary replacement such as a loaner or rental car has been made available to customers. Owners are advised not to recharge their vehicles, and to park outside and away from structures, until they are repaired. This is untenable, we do not have off street parking, and cannot park it in our driveway or garage. We are paying for not being able to charge the vehicle and using gas instead. Chrysler needs to replace these vehicles now. We are in contact with our lemon lawyers. Thank you.

FCA US LLC issues a Safety Recall - B9A/NHTSA 23V-787 - indicating that a high voltage battery defect could cause the vehicle to catch fire with the ignition on or off. The Safety Recall instructed owners and lessees not to operate the vehicle, charge it, park it inside or near structures, or park it near other vehicles. Essentially, FCA US LLC instructed owners and lessees to park their vehicles in a field. The cause of the issue is unknown and no remedy is available, nor is FCA US LLC able to provide an estimated delivery or timeline for a remedy. I contacted FCA Support for more information, as instructed by the Safety Recall notice. FCA US LLC Support indicated that I should continue to operate the vehicle and should schedule a service appointment with a dealership. This is in direct conflict with the "Important Safety Issue" identified by FCA US LLC in its notice, which "can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside of the vehicle, as well as property damage." In other words, FCA has instructed me to continue operating a vehicle it has deemed unsafe. Alternatively, the vehicle is rendered totally inoperable and no remedy has been offered. When contacting FCA US LLC, the representative I spoke with was unable to provide any information and ultimately hung up on me. This response is wholly unacceptable when FCA US LLC has deemed the vehicle unsafe.

I've confirmed with the my Jeep dealer and the NHTSA that there's a safety recall for the battery on my Wrangler 4xe possibly catching fire. There's currently no remedy. It's the third recall on this vehicle. I'm also wondering why Jeep or anyone has contacted me about this. I had to find out on the internet then make phone calls to confirm. Telling us to no park our cars next to building or other cars is unrealistic. Like where?? up in the mountains? We are in southern California. I'd like some answers very fast. My Jeep has the 3.0 ecodiesel engine and there are two batteries. One battery is huge and powers all the components on my vehicle. The second battery is tiny and considered an auxiliary battery. It is located in a place that I can not get too, and can not check to see if its good or bad. However, as soon as it has any issues it will keep the Jeep from starting up. If you are out in the country or in the middle of nowhere then you will be stranded. It does not matter if the larger battery is working perfectly, the auxiliary battery will disable the entire vehicle anyway. This is a huge safety issue for obvious reasons. According to Jeep forums over the internet, this is a very common issue on all Jeeps with two batteries. It would be nice to take the auxiliary battery out, but Jeep engineered the two batteries to disable the entire vehicle if the auxiliary battery dies. Poor engineering? Perhaps! I would suggest there be a recall and that Jeep be forced to take the auxiliary battery out and re-wire the electrical system to allow vehicles to start regardless of the auxiliary battery. Some customers might want to keep the auxiliary battery cause it plays a part with the auto-start system. I would like to remove the battery and the auto-start all together and still have a functioning vehicle. I don't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere where I have no cellphone service.

My 2021 4XE Wrangler Rubicon has already had the Loss of Motive Power Recall performed a year ago. Jeep stated that the recall software update would prevent this incident. It is not corrected!!! Yesterday, while traveling on I-70 near Virginia at about 70 mph (the speed limit), the Jeep displayed a Jeep Vehicle with the PHEV High Voltage Cables and Battery Pack Diagram drawn over the Jeep in Bright Red color. No codes happened at all when this appeared (no Check Engine Light, no service indicators, nothing). Some words quickly flashed on the dash display stating something like, "Loss of Performance" and the engine shutdown completely and the "D" next to shifter binked yellow continuously afterwards. The dash then stated to Shift Vehicle into Park to Restart (while still coasting at nearly 70 mph). I managed to coast it to the emergency lane, stop the Jeep, shift into park and restart. It then would not run even remotely normal, because it was in a safety mode of some sort. Again, with the engine running completely erratically, no coding at all. When I pressed the accelerator like normal, it would not respond at all (even putting it to the floor had no affect). I had to figure out how to get the accelerator to work so I could drive it back home. I had to gently press the pedal to get it to respond and then the Jeep would not go above about 2500 RPM. It would force itself to slow down if it reached any higher RPM. I went to the local Jeep Dealership ASAP today and was told nothing was recorded in the computer, software is up to date, and there is nothing wrong with my Jeep. This is a serious problem and has to be diagnosed and fixed!!!!

On 9/16 I went to leave for work for the day and my car would not start. The auto stop start system was illuminated with a warning. A neighbor jumstarted to car for me. I drove to my dealership where I was told both of my batteries had failed and I would need to replace them. I replaced both. Upon leaving the dealership my stop start was still showing a warning. I was told it would go off after driving for a few days. It did not. I returned to the dealership on 9/25 to see what was wrong. The code the vechicle was giving was low battery. I was told it was a software update and was sent on my way. This issue with my vechicle par of a RRT21-077 dated 6/24/21. I was never notified of this by Jeep. I was told when I brought this to their attention that because this probelem did not occur within 18 months of the bulletin my issue would not be covered. I am concerned that this issue will happen again and leave me stranded without power, as clearly it is an issue with this model.

The sensor witch detects if the front and rear differential lockers is engaged or not has quit working. Once I looked into it, the sensor was full of diff oil causing it to stop working. I then found out it has been such a big issue that Jeep has a National back order on the part to replace it. The parts were found to be leaking in almost all Jeeps tested. That component is a major part to the off-road capability. I found myself in the back of my local national forest and unable to get unstuck because I drove through mud that would have been no problem if my lockers work functioning properly. If it weren’t for me owning an emergency satellite transponder I honestly don’t know how myself and my twelve year old would have made it out. I live in the middle of grizzly bears. Spoke to Jeep and was told “they know it’s a major issue but won’t fix them until told to do so”

Sep 27, 2023

I’m reaching out due to a severe issue with my Wrangler 4xe Rubicon that has left me stranded twice in 2 weeks. The vehicle is shutting down, without warning, and is not able to re-start, so you can just imagine that the circumstances could be far more dire or outright life-threatening had this happened in a remote location or a dangerous high-traffic area. Both times the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Even more troubling is that the root cause of the malfunction (OBD CODE: P0BBD HYBRID BATTERY VOLTAGE VARIATION EXCEEDED LIMIT) has yet to be diagnosed, despite the vehicle being serviced for the better part of a week, only to suddenly refuse to start just 3 days after getting it back — again, leaving me stranded. Multiple attempts to reach Jeep executives over several days has yielded no response. All my safety recalls have been addressed so Jeep has told me this vehicle was safe to drive before these incidents. Additionally, the vehicle was in the shop for the better part of 2 weeks earlier this year with a battery heater malfunction. I work in emergency surgery and if I don't have a reliable vehicle to respond to emergencies, patients can literally die. That is not hyperbole, its reality.

While driving the "Service Shifter" warning appeared in the center cluster notification area repeatedly. There was reduced vehicle performance and a continuous chime alert from the vehicle. Turned the vehicle off, waited several minutes and then turned the vehicle back on and the "Service Shifter" warning appeared again with the continuous chime audio alert.

My car was called in for a recall. The dealership stated they don’t have the correct software to update the issue but said to come back when they do. They never fixed my vehicle and now it’s howling my recall was fixed. But my car is still having the electrical issue and it almost shut off on the freeway.

Aug 27, 2023

I went to the dealership. They said since there were no lights or messages on dashboard they really couldn’t do anything. I insisted on them looking at it and they scheduled an appointment a week later. They said I have to leave the car with them for a week so they can look at it. They won’t give me a loaner to drive and they are short staffed so the car just sits on their lot for a week. This is completely unacceptable. There was no sense of urgency on something that could’ve turned into a tragic accident driving on the highway in Chicago. I took the car home. It was driving ok this week until today Saturday 8/27, my appointment is for Monday and car is completely dead and won’t start.

When I was driving normally the service shifter, service electronic stability control, auto park disabled error message displayed. Also the traction control light, parking brake light and the cargo light all turned on. Then lost power steering, at full speed. Tried to safely pull off the road. Coasted to a stop, where I then lost all power to the vehicle. Was unable to restart. Had it towed to Jeep dealership, for further inspection. The third time for the same issue. With no resolution or repairs. As they say, they can not reproduce the catastrophic failure. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer. It happened so suddenly I barely had time to pull over. If I was driving in the middle lane or on highways. I would have lost power steering, and stopped in the middle of the road. At higher rates of speed or other circumstances. It could have caused serious injuries, or even deaths. I am no longer comfortable driving this vehicle. For risk of personal injury or death, and being a danger to other drivers on the road.

March of 2023. Vehicle started hesitating and skipping. P0001 was logged. Dealership found terminals to connector to fuel pressure regulator were not crimped properly and loose. Repair was made. Aug 2023. Symptom have resurfaced this time logging code and shutting off while accelerating through an intersection. Logged code again P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open.

Earlier this year vehicle would sometimes do the following, not at start up but when driving; Wipers on by themselves & driver can't shut off, turn signals inop, Both sides blind spot warning continously on alerting driver every time a vehicle on either side is passed or passes vehicle, anywhere from three to five dash warning lights illuminated. Took to dealer in April 2023 & diagnosed a bad can bus connector. Replaced connector (approx $700). Seemed to be the fix until it started again June 2023. This time all the above issues started up again including loss of power steering. I was on I70 at highway speeds in rush hour traffic and it was very dangerous. Returned to dealer yesterday 6/29/23 Immediately following loss of power steering while vehicle was displaying faults & they read codes. They are booked for 2 weeks so I'm scheduled to drop it off 7/10/2023. Dealer has been fine to work with and willing to help. My chief complaint is I have found numerous others that this is happening to (internet Wrangler JL forum) & I feel like car mfg knows about this and is not doing anything about it.

While driving the vehicle will just go crazy all lights come and things stop working throttle control, etc. it’s hard to control the vehicle

After picking up the jeep from the dealership (brand new), we drove to mass from NY. On the second day of ownership, we drove car to store. When i returned to the car to drive home, it would not start and just said charging error with many warning lights. Car had to be towed to the nearest jeep dealer. Car only had 200 miles on it.

Vehicle will stop working in electrical mode...says "electrical mode unavailable" Dealership does NOTHING, vehicle performance is unpredictable. Sometimes will not start without a jump when the battery is fully charged from a 220 outlet. I've had it towed as I was stranded... dealership said "nothing wrong" ZERO diagnostic test to see if battery has a bad cell. Yet less than 24 hours from picking up at dealership, will only operate in gas mode. NOW it seems to down shift when I take my foot off gas....makes a grinding sound. Appears I purchased a lemon.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the PHEV mode failed to function as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

1st Jeep recall. Data update completed. Next day engine light. 2 weeks for first appointment. 3 weeks to get next appointment. After recall next day engine light heater codes. PCM replaced. Vehicle went Totally dead. New 12volt battery. Still dead. Star Stellantis Technical Assistance Request #1 Technicians from Michigan came and reprogrammed vehicle. Star #2 engine light heater codes still. A new recall for heater pump out for Jeep 4xe. My Vin # not included. Took possession June or July 2021. Current 3450. Miles. Jeep 4xe Hybrid unlimited. Vehicle has been @ dealership since February 2023. Here it is May 2023. I've talked with customer care. Still no parts. Still no work on vehicle. Told by dealership it needs heater pump and a battery heater warmer. No charging issue ever with plug in. Recall was for Stalling. Getting the big run around. Vehicle sat in garage for about a month or so. Then recall. On return to dealership , it crapped out in front of dealership. They had to clear all the codes to get it in service. So now into 5th month without vehicle. Recall goofed up my vehicle. Or it was already like that waiting to happen. Reliability ? Not ready as it is. It's just continues to sit @ dealership. ?

Same issue as the last time, and the time before that. Very dangerous, battery completely fails. The instrument meters are wrong and it shows that there is gas when there is really not any gas. Also more recently, we were driving on the highway in the express lane in the car just suddenly came to a stop. We could have died - luckily there was no one behind us. I managed to get the car over partially into the other lane so people could go around. The car had to be towed and I’m done paying for this.

My Jeep was brought to Carl Burger Jeep because the check engine light stays on all the time. The dealership performed several software updates. The Check Engine light still stays on and has been on every since. About two months now. It was discovered that there is a part required for the EV battery that is not available due to back order. The service dept. said it was safe to drive. How do they know that? There has been a case opened up and a person assigned to my case. Who knows what that means. All I know is I'm very uncomfortable driving around with the Check Engine light on 100% of the time, especially with the size of that battery sitting right in back of me. I was told by the service dept. that they do not have an ETA for the back-ordered part. Nor have I received any updates on Please give me your recommendation on what to do. 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe has now lost total power twice and had extreme 'Death Wobble' issues. In 08/2021, at approx 1,400 miles, the vehicle lost all power and control on the highway while going speed limit at 70 mph. The screen reported issue with electronic stability control system. It was a dangerous situation trying to move to the side of the highway with no power nor power steering. Once on the side, multiple warning lights were on and vehicle would not start but control lights remained on. I called the dealership/service department of South Point Dodge and their recommendation was to disconnect the battery connection to reset. I was driving from Houston so I was desperate to get the car to start as my family was waiting outside of the car on the highway as well. I reconnected battery terminal and was able to restart the vehicle. At around 12k miles, I started experiencing extreme Jeep Wobble aka 'Death Wobble.' This occurred often while doing speed limit between 55-65 mph/higher on the highway and if vehicle hit a bump. The only way to stop the shaking was to slow down by braking to approximately 35-40 mph. In 02/2023, dealer changed out the 'dampners' and did update for electrical recall. On 03/14/2023, at approx 23k miles, the vehicle again lost complete power, would not restart and multiple warning lights came on. Control panel reported Electronic Stability Control Issue, Fuel Door Open when it physically was not, Vehicle in Drive while physically in park. Vehicle would not restart. Disconnected the battery terminal but this did not correct the issue. Vehicle was manually put into neutral to put onto tow truck. This vehicle has caused several life threatening concerns. Despite the recall fixes, the same issues continue to be present and long term solution is not available at this time. Had I known this Jeep would have such a dangerous electrical system that cannot be fixed, I wouldn't have purchased such an expensive, dangerous, worthless car.

On multiple occasions, i have gone to start my Jeep and not been able to turn it on. It will then lock in an "on" position where the engine will not run or shut off. Has had to be towed twice and Chrystler is not helping. I am not being told anything other than they do not know what is going on, but say it happens to a lot of these cars.

Feb 25, 2023 Crash

The vehicle shut down on its own while driving. All warning lights were displayed. Vehicle was unresponsive and caused a crash. Vehicle is at dealer. I filed a complaint with FCA.

Feb 2, 2023

The vehicle's engine will randomly shut off and not turn back on. It has been to dealerships over 10 times for the same issue. They all attribute it to the start/stop battery, but it happens even when that feature is turned off. The vehicle's engine will shut off while driving and you cannot shift it into park. The only warning is a check engine light and "service auto start/stop system". There is no warning before the vehicle does it, and I have broken down in intersections, highways, and other dangerous locations. The vehicle duplicated the issue on the dealers lot, but they claim " no codes, no repair".

Jan 30, 2023

The car has been shutting down since its inception. It's gone to the dealership over 4 times. From the loss of power to the complete shutdown during the highway at 65/70 mph with my kids inside. This vehicle is not safe to drive at all. It took the fun out of moving and owning a Jeep. The 4xe is a disaster in the making. Even after the dealership looks into the car over four times, they fixed, patched, software updates, and issues keep happening, which shows that they don't have an answer to this vehicle. The car lasted the last time it went in, over a month in the dealership. If you can't go Electric, don't do it. This car is an issue for families. Highly don't recommend it. It only has 15,980 miles! Brand new car, and it's been more in the dealership than any car I've owned in my life, and I've owned plenty!

Took 2021 Jeep wrangler rubicon 4xe for loss of motive power to victorville jeep California, dealer performed recall when I picked the vehicle I received my vehicle with a check engine light which was bot present at moment of dealership taking vehicle in. Was told due to software update per recall instructions, caused a hybrid module to fail, I was the part was in back order with out a shipping date. Noticed the radio had reset the setting and notified dealership that the controls to adjust the bass and treble were not working properly. Now they called me stating that the radio has some type of noise coming from it and it has to do something with a software update and that they have to replace the subwoofer because it blown. Dealership has had the vehicle since Jan 06th and today is Jan 21 and the new subwoofer won't be until Jan 27th. Please help.

I was driving my 21 4xe on e-save mode with a quarter tank of gas left and about quarter of my battery life left when it suddenly powered down while driving. I had my ten year old son with me when the Jeep suddenly shut down in the middle of the street without warning. Seconds before shutting down the “D” light on the shifter started blinking, a red battery indicator flashed on the screen and then it was dead. I moved to the far tight lane as fast as I could. Although I was able to get over, it still died in the middle of moving traffic. I almost had a wreck! Called roadside assistance and waited 45min for a battery jump. They came but the jump did not work. All the lights came on but my jeep would not start. Had to wait another hour and a half for a special tow because it wouldn’t go into neutral. Finally, the police showed up because we were impeding traffic and I was then able to get a tow after 2 1/2 hrs in the middle of traffic with my son At Night! Eventually we had it towed back home because it was so late. But now I have to have it towed to the dealership I purchased from which is 45min away. So frustrating! Everything was fine, no warnings until seconds before powering down.

Driving at highway speeds in Idaho on a road-trip from California. Vehicle suddenly shuts down with warning lights saying to put in park. Very dangerous as there is little to no shoulder on this stretch of highway. Cars had to swerve around the vehicle as it rapidly lost speed. Check engine light is now on. No warning lights prior to sudden shut down.

Oct 12, 2022

I was driving on the expressway when the engine suddenly slowed the car, I lost all ability to use the gas pedal. The deal found metal shavings in the engine leading to the engine being replaced. Prior to this I had several check engine lights that when the dealer looked at the vehicle, they simply reset them and told me all was ok. I lost all power on the expressway- all passengers in the car felt it and were terrified. In a separate incident also on the expressway I experienced a violent wobble and rattle of the entire car including the steering- I have a video of this as my daughter happened to catch it. It felt very dangerous and I had to slow to stop it. It happens when I hit a bump. This is a new vehicle with less than 10 K miles.

Vehicle loses power without warning. This has occurred numerous times, twice on a crowded freeway when I had to navigate across 5 lanes of traffic. Dealer was unable to isolate and repair the problem the first time. Vehicle is in for repair again. An internet search indicates this is not uncommon and at least two class action suits are pending. I'm shocked this life threatening fault has not already been reported to the NHTSA. Repair codes are : P1E1D control module improper wake up performance, U1817 Lost communication with hybrid powertrain control module on D-PT, U0293 confirmed, lost communication with hybrid control module.

I pulled my Jeep into my driveway. I put the car in park with my foot on the brake. When I went to turn the car off, I heard a loud sound coming from the car. the car jerked forward, my foot still on the brake, and then it took off into the side of my house and garage. I tried to stop the car with the brakes and it wouldn't stop. After it hit the house, I looked down and the car was still in park. I had to restart the car as it shut off after hitting the house, I put the car in reverse and backed it up. When I put it back in drive the car wouldn't move. Only reverse worked. After an hour the car started working in drive. I had the car towed to the dealership. They told me that there were no error codes and that the care is fine. I now have zero confidence in this car. This is my fourth Jeep Wrangler and I never experienced anything like this. Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue?

4xe wrangler - driving for about 30 min in the pm when the red turtle symbol with the battery came on - 4xe had 20% battery and 3/4 tank of gas and could not switch from hybrid to eSave. 4xe went from full speed (45) immediately down 5mph to 0 mph a minute leaving us at the entrance of a local street (no shoulders). Dashboard said to place it in P and then select a gear - we placed it in P but was then unable to change gear (4xe was still in run mode). At this point everything locked up and after a Christmas tree dashboard light display the car went dark with only the hazards running. Had to use flashlights to make sure cars would not run into the back of the jeep Couple of minutes later our hazards lights also cut out. Towed to Dealership where they replaced the 12v as a resolution. After picking up the jeep i could not get it into electric mode, called the dealership who requested it back to pull codes. On the way back same exact issue happened again on a busy road. It's still at the dealership. Check out 4xe forum there are many reporting the same issue. I have had this car 16 months and have experience 3x the car suddenly dying with no electric but with a plenty of gas, once at 70pmh on a interstate and twice at 45mph

Aug 19, 2022

I was driving home from a trip to the store. I stopped at a red light and all of the sudden I got a message that traction control failed, service charging system, and power train failure occurred. I had no power to move the car and the brakes barely worked. It told me to put it in park and restart the Jeep. I was able to roll downhill to the median out of traffic and put it in park and restart it. It seemed to work normally until I went another mile or so and it happened again. This time I was in motion and had a very difficult time stopping in the middle of traffic to put the Jeep in park and restart. This is a VERY serious problem and I’m very lucky it didn’t happen on the interstate. I am a member of two Jeep 4xe groups on Facebook and this is a reoccurring issue that is extremely dangerous.

Aug 16, 2022

While driving on the freeway at about 70mph, my vehicle shut off completely and I had to pull over to the shoulder. While pulled over I was unable to restart the vehicle for about 45 minutes. Vehicle dash displayed “Service Transmission, E-Drive Unavailable, Charge system fault.”

Aug 9, 2022

I was driving down the freeway, came upon traffic which caused me to come to a stop. When the traffic cleared and I put my foot on the gas, the jeep refused to go forward and stalled out. I had just enough power to get to a safe area on the side of the freeway. My jeep flashed the D on the gear shifter and I got a notification to put the car in "park." On the control panel screen it showed "check charging system" and "check transmission." It also showed a message showing blind spot alert was disabled and the battery light. I had nearly a full tank of gas when this happened and at least 34% of electric left to drive on electric mode when this occurred. My Uconnect app showed the message "charging fault error has occurred" when this happened on the freeway.

While driving the jeep it gets a error code that says Service Electric throttle body. I’ve owned the car for about 20 months. This is the fourth time this issue has happened. Seems to happen every 5 months or so. The first time they replaced the throttle body. Second time they replaced it again and had it back for one day and the issue popped up again. They then said they would replace it but it had to be something else since it was a brand new throttle body. They ended up replacing the PCM and I was without the Jeep for an entire month. This time I went in and they said it wasn’t the throttle body. So they cleared the codes and I went to pick it up, when I turned it on it tells me to service electric throttle body. I couldn’t even make it out of the dealership parking lot. When this issue happens. No matter what speed you are at it literally decreases your speed to 15MPH. Luckily I have never been on the highway when said issue has happened. It is a serious safety concern. This last time I had my two children in the car with me, my 2 year old daughter and my 1 year old son. I do not feel safe, or that this car is reliable. I have been reading forums about this said issue and I am not the only one having them. That is where I got the information to come here. I hope it is something you can look into. It isn’t a good feeling to buy a brand new car and not feel like it is reliable or safe especially with your small children in the car. Thank you for your time.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while at a stop light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would not drive forward and the gear shifter lights began blinking. Suddenly the vehicle would lurch forward and backward crashing into both the vehicles in the front and rear and a third parked vehicle before finally the driver was able to shift into park and turn the vehicle off. During the incident, the Stability Control, ABS, and Traction Control warning lights had illuminated. The vehicle was later driven to the police station but the warning lights were still illuminated. During the incident, no injuries were reported and a police report was taken. The manufacturer was contacted and later retrieved the vehicle for evaluation. No further information was available. The local dealer was also notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 15,000.

When driving down the road the vehicle completely shuts down, comes to a sudden stop and service charging system message displays on the dash with no prior warning. After turning the ignition off and restarting the vehicle starts running perfectly normal.

Jun 9, 2022

While driving my vehicle and going about 30-40mph, the dashboard began flashing and telling me there was a charging system failure. At that point I could no longer accelerate and the "D" light on the gear shift was blinking. After putting the car in park, it would not allow me to change the shift gear to a different position. The Jeep app on my phone alerted me that my vehicle could not charge which was strange because I was driving and not charging at all. I had to pull over in the middle of a very busy intersection and turn off my car and turn it back on just to get it going again. When I turned it on, everything was back to normal and I was able to drive. This is very dangerous and luckily I was not on the highway and going 60mph when this happened or it could have been catastrophic.

Subject: 2021 Wrangler Unlimited (3.6L) Automatic with manufacturing defects. I am writing this email to complain about my 2021 Wrangler Unlimited (3.6L) Automatic that I Purchased on 28 November 2021 from Trading Enterprises company LLC Al-Futtaim group(sales Office Dubai UAE-DFC). Unfortunately, The Jeep’s problem started on day one drive-by suspecting strange noises coming from the Engine’s side. I requested an appointment at Trading Enterprises Dubai, and the Service Advisor told me the sound is normal (it's a new car, and the noise will go after some time). In January 2022 I went on a mountain camping trip with my small family in Fujairah city and suddenly the car’s power was cut completely on a steep mountain(Have shared the videos with the TE team showing the front wheels are not spinning). The car was about to roll over and I was embarrassed, frightened, and worried about my family’s safety. I managed to get my family safe out of the car and, with the help of friends, I took the car to a safer place. On 29/1/2022 (TE Walk Around Inspection) after the test drives, the TE team requested to keep the car for proper checking and after a few days, the Service Advisor informed me that it was a problem with the 4W system, especially considering that 4L was not engaged due to a wiring problem and they had to rectify the issue, I swallow it with pain. The car is sluggish when accelerating in the first gear and misfires when I depress the gas pedal, I was on a construction site where they have a ramp and suddenly a big truck shows up and so I needed acceleration from the car but it doesn’t respond. The gas pedal was to the maximum and it still doesn’t work, it was a huge close call as I nearly crashed into a truck. On 13/4/2022 I experienced the same issue on the sand and the highway with extra problems and decided to visit the TE as I can't take this anymore, TE team requested to keep the car to check the issues. 8 weeks now and the car is still with the dealer

Driving at approximately 50 MPH, I lost power steering and the indicator/warning lights on my dash, including ABS, were all lighting up or seemingly resetting. I was able to limp it home when I regained power steering about 20 feet from the driveway. So at the moment, it's not possible to observe the issue. Loss of power steering at that speed to a less experienced driver than myself, such as one of my children could have proven catastrophic. I am currently having the vehicle towed to the dealership. There was no prior indicator or warning before the incident occurred. ~ I did a quick search on what the problem could be and found this video on youtube (not mine) which shows almost exactly what happened to my vehicle ... https://youtu.be/Sewnurqrzq4 (I know clicking links isn't always allowed, so what I searched youtube for was "2021 jl loss of power steering and all warning lights on" and the video was the first result uploaded by a user by the name of Robert Ballard. The video name is "2018 Jeep JL Unlimited Rubicon Electrical Issues" and was uploaded Jun 25, 2019. )

Apr 7, 2022

4 times I have started my 2021 Jeep 4xe and the engine light came on and wouldn’t shift out of park. It would take around 10 minutes and numerous attempts turning it off and on to get it to shift out of park. Once while driving on the highway the Jeep shutdown at 60 mph slowly down to 30 mph suddenly. There was a warning on the dash that said to put the car in park and then odd. I pulled over to the side of the road to have the Jeep locked in park once shut the system off. Another time after having gotten it back from the service department at the dealership for the lock up issue, the Jeep wouldn’t accelerate higher than 45 mph.

I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe in July 2021. Starting in December of 2021 and continuing to this day I will periodically get an error message that says "Service Hybrid Electrical System" and the car will either not start or shut off while it is in motion. I have contacted Jeep Cares and have been elevated to their customer retention group to continue to try to solve this issue. The dealer has been great at trying to fix the issue but they have admitted that they don't know what it is or how to fix it and are relying on the national Jeep engineers to help try to fix it. Talking with the mechanics at the dealer they keep saying the national Jeep engineers are just guessing at this point on what the issue is and they don't know what the issue is either. I am far from the only one that is having this issue. If you search any Jeep forum you will find countless other owners with the same issue, https://www.4xeforums.com/search/37154/?q=service+hybrid+electrical+system The underlying issue with the Jeep 4xe's is a huge public safety issue. This is due to the fact that the Jeep 4xe will randomly turn off while driving, such as driving down a highway going 60mph.

Could not start my 2021 jeep only 900 miles on it and said charging fault and then started an hour later but then later on that day Was driving with my child and dead stop in middle of turnpike just shut off. Thank god it turned he Ck on and made it home. Now dealership is saying they can look at it within two to four weeks. This is a terrible.

Jan 31, 2022

Yesterday, for the second time, the car shutdown while I was driving. I was on the road, close to 60 mph and the car turned the engines off. It shut down and the "D" light on the gear shift was blinking. I had to quickly try to get to the right lane, without any engine. After 3 tentatives, when I turned it back on, the engine light was on.

I have no technical no-how with cars so I will describe as best I can. We have a brand new 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe--bought it one month ago--and two weeks in, while driving, the check engine light came on. We were out of town so called the local dealer but they could not see us for three weeks. So we researched the issue and thought it could be a loose gas cap etc. We did some trouble shooting but nothing changed. Then, while driving, the entire dash lit up with various warnings, including the hybrid warning, and it just shut down. We were next to a parking lot and coasted in. Through a series of actions we were able to get it driving again and made it to another dealership. When we arrived all signals were gone and they could find no trouble codes to check. We were able to drive back home and we thought maybe it was the loose gas cap issue. We would have taken it into the dealership as a precaution, but service appts are weeks out. And it drove fine for several days. Then our daughter was driving it on an extremely busy and dangerous road. Luckily she'd just turned off it into our neighborhood--but she was still driving at a decent speed--and all of a sudden all the warning lights came on again, including the hybrid signal, and the car completely shut down on her. Stopped mid-drive and mid-road. We now have had it towed to the dealership. We have also read all the similar stories now with Jeep 4xes and have serious concerns about the extent of this issue and thus the safety of the vehicle. The dealership can't look at it for weeks, but we have already contacted sales to see what they can do. I feel like it could take months to work out what is happening here--especially with service backups--and I do not feel safe with any of our family members doing a back and forth on this until we find out that a serious recall in underway.

Seeing indicator for Service Charging System. Cars will stop in the middle of the road when this happens.

Driving on highway at posted speed of 70 mph in state of Michigan and jeep quit running I had 3/4 tank of fuel and 37% battery power remaining got it restarted made it to a gas station shut off jeep filled with gas and jeep wouldn’t come back online said charging port malfunction so I open charge door and didn’t see any thing in the removed negative side of 12 volt battery underneath the hood waited for 3 mins reinstalled battery terminal and was able to get it started but the temp controls only work on extreme hot or extreme cold no in between drove back home approximately 150 with check engine light on after several power down and restart the check engine light went away and all went back to normal again

Jeep wrangler Sahara 2021 4xe is brand new leased and driven off the lot the previous day with 35 miles on the car and one full charge overnight. Car was going down a hill with Max Regeneration engaged. It lost power and said place in Park. It states service charging system and there is an engine fault and the car will not start will not go into neutral to move to a safe location and it stuck in the center of a busy road placing myself the driver at extreme risk.

Dec 18, 2021

As I was driving my vehicle, the dashboard displayed 2 warning signs that stated “service shifter” and “service shifter stop safely shut off engine to engage park”. This put my safety at risk because the vehicle hesitated even when attempting to pull over and shift the vehicle into park. While driving, the vehicle’s transmission had jerking movements that made it difficult to complete this task. The problem has not be confirmed by the auto maker. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no warning lamps or messages to my Uconnect app about the status of the vehicle prior to the incident. Symptoms include delays in accelerating and the vehicle struggling to switch between gears. These problems first appeared approximately 1 month ago.

Vehicle was purchased on 5/22/2021 from dealer as new vehicle purchases (lease). On 5/23 less than 24 hours after delivery with 76 miles on the ODO, I got a (CEL) and numerous errors (service hybrid electrical vehicle system, service 4wheel drive system, vehicle charge fault with a red charge cord light indicator). Vehicle was returned to dealer on Monday morning with notice of issues. They diagnosed the vehicle for 1 day and returned it to me to continue to drive while they ordered parts. Vehicle was diagnosed with a P0AA6-00 “Hybrid Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault.” Dealer stated vehicle was safe to drive and would contact when parts were received. On 6/08 vehicle was returned to service for incoming parts at 575 miles. Dealer stated FCA advised them to replace the Indicator lamp module but did not correct the issue and they could not return the vehicle to me as they stated "FCA said vehicle can not be placed back on road as it may catch fire or explode". Vehicle has been at the dealer with no return since 6/8/2021. They have changed 1 indicator lamp module, 2 battery heater/chiller modules, 3 PHEV main wire harnesses and have requested a 4th as they have not been able to make the previous 3 work/function. Vehicle has now been down 7months with now successful repair and parts not available until 1/02/2022 at the earliest. And vehicle now sits with 17 unresolved trouble codes.

I was running an errand. The jeep has been charging the whole night before so it had a full charge. After the hour long errand, I got back to the jeep and tried starting it up. On the dash, the check engine light, the wrench with a lightning bolt was on. On the dash, it’s says the “Service charging system” and “service Hybrid Electrical vehicle system” needs to be service. A little while later of trying to start up, the tow truck happened to start it up by pressing on the gas pedal after turning it on. It’s been in the shop for a week now.

I was driving normally along a busy road at 40mph. Suddenly, the car stalled and I could not accelerate. I coasted until it completely stopped in the middle of a busy road. I was unable to move the car, and instead had to put the car in park and turn off the engine. The "D" light on the gear shifter was blinking, and then the battery on the car went from 55% charge down to 47% charge. A red lightning bolt emergency sign came on but then went off immediately after. With the car off in the middle of the road, I restarted it hoping for the best. Luckily, it did restart fine and I could continue driving. However, I have heard on Jeep 4xe forums that this is an issue with many other owners, some even happening on the interstates. I am now too afraid to drive this car with my child or for long distances, because this issue was completely spontaneous and unpredictable. I took it to the dealer to be serviced, but they are unsure what is going on. And as a side note, this is a brand new car (2021 year) with 105 miles. I only had it for FIVE days before this happened. Prior to this incident I also noticed that the charge would not hold very long at all - for example, driving it today 3.4 miles from one point to the dealer, the charge went from 47% to 17% - this should not be normal. Overall this issue is unacceptable and this needs to be addressed immediately before people die. Thanks for your consideration.

The two main wire harnesses are faulty. It would not charge or hold a charge. Driving it was dangerous and would stop drastically at any given random moment. A jerking motion would occur while driving. Lights on dash would come on, engine, charging fault station. Charging fault. And lightening bolt warning signs. Sometimes it would say don’t drive call for assistance. The dealership has had my vehicle since June 4 2021. The parts I’m told won’t be available until end of January 2022. I purchased the jeep on April 30th 2021. It’s very scary when you’re on the road, w my family and it decides to lock up or sounds like the transmission is falling from the under carriage. Luckily we weren’t rear ended or pushed through an intersection.

Oct 26, 2021

Unknown. Car came to a sudden stop while driving and the lights beside the gear started flashing. A message on the dashboard popped up that said for me to put the car in park and then select my desired gear. Major safety concern for a car to just shut down for no reason while driving down the street. Luckily I was on a back road with little traffic. Afraid to drive the car on major highways or at higher rates of speed where this malfunction could cause a serious accident.

Oct 21, 2021

I purchased this vehicle new and over the past 12 months, the back-up camera and stereo has stopped working four times. It usually fixes itself after a day or so, but this time it has been 3 days and it still will not work.

Sep 24, 2021

Vehicle locked up, no steering, no braking or control while traveling at 40mph nearly causing an accident. Interface said Anti Theft Mode engaged, enter code. This nearly caused a crash and the vehicle was immobilized and had to be towed to dealership. Vehicle has less than 3000 miles on the odometer. This presented a significant safety risk to driver, passengers and other motorists.

2021 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL TANK ISSUE. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO HADN'T DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AFTER 6 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAD 2,845 MILES.

Charging Fault Error came on as my wife was driving home when her 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE suddenly shut off and came to a immediate halt. She was barely able to prevent a major accident, which could've caused serious injury to herself and others on the road. Vehicle would not restart and was not even able to put the vehicle in neutral to push out of harm's way. The moment it happened I received a message on my Jeep UConnect app that a Charging Fault Error occurred. I didn't know what this meant, but about 60 seconds later my wife called me in distress and told me what happened. She was terrified couldn't even drive the rest of the way home and had to stand in 100F heat for an hour waiting for a tow truck. Result: The Jeep Wrangler 4XE is still in the shop (it's been in the dealership for over 3 weeks now, and we've owned it for 3 months and 3500 miles. They have no diagnosis and say they are still ordering parts. Asked 2x to speak with upper management at FCA and was told someone would call in 24 hours, it' been over 72 hours now. Included file of Jeep case number and Jeep 4XE forum with multiple chats on this same issue.

As I approached a stop sign while braking, the Jeep seized up, shut off, and gave the Electronic Stability Control warning. I attempted to restart and it didn’t start or get out of park. It then gave Blind Spot Monitoring System error and Service Charging System error. I’m grateful that I was at a stop sign unlike some of the other reports of this issue that were on the highway. It was quite a jolt when the vehicle seized. The vehicle has been at the dealership since 8/24. It was thought the hybrid battery needed replacement. A new one gave the same errors to the service team. The vehicle remains with the service department awaiting another battery.

Vehicle shut down in middle of road. All lights on dash came on and vehicle became disabled. It repeated it self two more times that week and i finally had it towed to dealer.

Veh shuddered while driving. Warning light on dash for Hybrid system malfuction/red lighting bolt on dash. Veh taken to dealer 3 weeks ago. Needs new Power Inverter module. Wont drive. Part eta is 3 months out.

The vehicle all of a sudden shut down and the charging system alert came on and said service charging system - this was while starting to merge off 131 north at the Saginaw exit. I coasted to the side of the road put it in park I attempted to start again and at first there was nothing Then I did it again and it started I did not see the charging error but it went into my log. I drove home. When I got home I tried plugging it in and it blew every breaker I tried plugging into. Called dealership and there it sits. They have no idea.

Aug 13, 2021

While driving on 131 northbound just before the Saginaw croton exit my Jeep lost power I was in the left lane had to merge across to the right to exit and all the lights were on noting charging system needs service I got off highway onto ramp and coasted to side of ramp and realized it was not even on anymore. I immediately shut it off checked my uconnect app for a service warning and it said charging system failure all the lights on the dash were alerting me until it shut down I sat for a bit and tried to start it and it did but was jerky when attempting to drive. I switched to esave and the engine kicked in but was also doggy. I had 60% battery so I’m not sure what happened. I attempted to plug in when I got home and it blew breakers anywhere I attempted to plug it in and made a very loud pop! I didn’t try it anymore at home as it scared me. Contacted the dealer and two weeks later it’s at the shop. They have no idea what is going on - it’s acting up but now doesn’t even put the info into the log according to my service technician at the dealer. They are waiting on Chrysler engineers to get back to them with what to do.

Aug 6, 2021

On Monday the Wrangler began to have electrical problems, the sound system cut off and then the climate control quit working. The car was running rough, jerky like an acceleration problem. By Tuesday afternoon it would not start right off. When I got it to start the same problems happened with the radio, climate control, and the screen cut off. I tried to put the car in reverse but the P would only flash. I attempted to turn the car off, it would not turn off until I cycled through all of the buttons. I attempted to restart the car and went through the above mentioned cycle twice more. I called the salesman who sold the car to me two days before, he told me to call Chrysler Roadside. The tow truck operator came out on Wednesday morning.  At that time the car would start but not go into neutral.  The tow truck driver attempted to override the safety feature and was not able to.  The car was drug onto the roll back in park. On Wednesday afternoon I spoke with the dealer mechanic who said that a squirrel or rat had built a nest in the engine and chewed through the negative cable.  He mentioned foam being all over the place. The story had minor changes after I went to the dealership on Thursday. After some research I wonder if that was the problem or if they are trying to get out of warranty repairs the are not yet able to diagnose. I am refusing to take delivery of the vehicle until I am assured that myself and family are safe.

Aug 5, 2021

While driving the Jeep on the freeway, it shut off out of nowhere and came to a very quick halt. It nearly caused a major accident on the freeway. A few moments after the Jeep encountered this issue and shut off, I received a message on mu UConnect app saying that there was a Charging Fault Error. The incident has been reported multiple times online in Jeep forums for the new 2021 Jeep 4xe. Many people have reported that the Jeep shut off while driving at high speeds on the freeway, and the vehicle comes to a sudden and dangerous stop. This is what happened to me.

Aug 4, 2021

This vehicle is a plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler. On July 31, 2021 while returning home from vacation and driving at highway speeds (65mph +/-), the powertrain of the vehicle completely failed. The screen flashed that there was an electrical system malfunction and to pull over. The vehicle was very difficult to control as I had to travel across three lanes of high-speed traffic to get to an exit ramp. Fortunately, we made it safely to the exit ramp, where the vehicle completely shut down. This was the second time this happened. While driving to vacation on July 22, 2021, a similar incident occurred. The first incident, however, was not a complete failure. The vehicle's screen flashed that there was an electrical problem, but the vehicle did not completely stall. After pulling over, the vehicle restarted. At that time, I scheduled an appointment with the Jeep dealership to investigate the issue. That appointment was scheduled for August 1, 2021 (the day after the catastrophic failure).

Aug 3, 2021

I was driving vehicle on HWY 610 in Houston, Texas at approximately 55-60 MPH. Suddenly, vehicle simply stopped working in the middle of driving. Everything on my dash was reading zero. Car were swearing to avoid hitting me. I also had a baby in the backseat of my vehicle. Suddenly, the dash started to read place car in park, Service Charging System. The P at my gear shift was flashing rapidly. I was able to slowly and dangerously coast to the emergency lane. Where I was able to turn the vehicle off. This is a very dangerous situation. At this point, Jeep has no idea what the problem is an this is very frustrating.

Aug 2, 2021

I was driving at night on a 4-lane highway at approximately 55 mph southbound in the left lane. My hybrid vehicle had less than 1% of battery power and was running using the gas engine. With no warning the vehicle suddenly experienced a sudden deceleration to less than 10 mph then a warning light came on stating "service charging system- place vehicle in P and start engine. Fortunately there were no vehicles in close proximity either in front, behind, or in the lane to my right, so I was able to make it over to the shoulder before it came to a complete stop. At that point I received an alert from my UCONNECT app that stated "Your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was unable to charge." It also stated to "Get service immediately." I placed the vehicle in park and attempted to start the engine with no response. I repeated the procedure and the engine started after which I was able to drive home. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer the next morning where, after two days, the dealer returned the vehicle and told me they could find nothing wrong. no codes in the computer, and no information from Jeep on any similar problems, despite getting the aforementioned alert received from the UCONNECT app. My main concern is that this type failure, the sudden engine failure/deceleration with no warning either inside or outside (brake lights), especially at night, can easily result an accident. I was very fortunate that I was on a highway with other cars near me. A crowded street, highway, or freeway would be a totally different story.

Jul 25, 2021

Pulled out of parking lot and into street. Several different warnings came on and the vehicle stopped on its on and became totally unresponsive in the middle of the street. Warnings included E-drive charging fault, check engine, shift error, among many others. Car push button would not allow the car to turn off.

Jul 11, 2021

The vehicle gave a Service Hybrid Electric System error and disabled the engine at approximately 60 mph when traveling in E-Save mode, with <1% battery, and half a tank of gasoline. After navigating the vehicle to the side of the road, it came to a hard stop at about 5-8 mph. After 10 minutes, the vehicle restarted in Hybrid mode as was able to operate without error until reaching our destination. Weather conditions were clear at 85 degrees. Issues occurred on a two-lane byway. No injuries, other damage, or police reports at this time. The vehicle will be delivered for service for recreation and diagnosis of the issue. Issue occurred with approximately 246 miles, direct from the dealership upon delivery. The vehicle has no aftermarket accessories.

Driving down the road and ALL the warning lights came on at the same time. They were flashing across the dash one at a time. We got a sway bar warning, an airbag warning, check engine light came on and then all of the sudden we lost power steering. It took all my husband's strength to control the vehicle when the power steering went out. We had to maneuver to the side of the road. If I had been driving, I fear what would have happened. We had the vehicle taken to our local dealer. Darcars Chrysler Plymouth and Jeep in Waldorf MD. The service technician there said he had no idea what was wrong and it would take several days to get it looked at. We took to the internet to research our issue. We found over and over people with a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon from model years 2019-2021 having the same issues. The issue turns out to be a problem with the "wiring harness". The Jeep forums online have documented instances of this problem by many, many people. Jeep should be forced to recall these wiring harnesses since they won't do a voluntary recall. This is a dangerous defect. Our vehicle has 6,000 miles on it. Our vehicle is available to inspect at the dealer. Someone is going to die if this defect isn't addressed.

Jun 28, 2021

It's over heating while drive at has 12000 miles on it and getting over 250 degrees derating and dash lights came on flashing red saying over heating to hot air shut off going 60 miles an hour. Had to pull off road because it had no gas pedal with cars behind me almost getting hit.

Jun 25, 2021

A charging system error caused engine to shut down. I was driving down the road at about 30-40 mph and the vehicle just shut down. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic. A red plug appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle started back up after several attempts to restart it. The red plug disappeared. I was able to drive the rest of the way home with no issues (about 1 mile). When the vehicle stopped it was in electric mode, had about 50% battery left, and had slightly less than a quarter tank of gas. I called dealer and made a service appointment for today. The vehicle was at the service department for about 3 weeks previously for the service light being on. We picked up the vehicle 2 weeks ago and the issue was not resolved. We had been texting with the service advisor about it while it was there and as soon as we picked it up and noticed the service light was still on he quit responding to us and would not get back with us.

Jun 20, 2021

While driving on a one way high way. Was about to overtake a semi truck. While half way on the opposite lane doing a legal overtake my acceleration decreased significantly, nearly causing my passengers and I to get into a head on collision with the another vehicle. All of this was due to the fact that the Jeep’s acceleration was decreased. The following warning appeared and code was registered: Check engine light code P00AF Service Electric Throttle Control stop/start unavailable Service stop start system Acceleration issues after shutting down my engine all the codes disappear and vehicle precedes to normal driving. I am extremely worried that this might happen again and pace me and my loved ones in a dangerous situation as well as other people on the road

This is about the new Jeep Rubicon 4XE Hybrid Wrangler. We were traveling slowly on a dirt road in our new Jeep. Suddenly it began to slow down and it stopped. It would not move any further. The shifter was frozen in Park. Lights and warnings were illuminated on the dash that were not on before this happened. We were in a wilderness and had no cell reception whatsoever. It would not start, drive or otherwise move. Eventually someone came by and took us into a small town where we called the dealer for assistance. They told us to call Jeep Roadside Assistance. We came close to having to spend the night out there in 40 degree weather with no ability to walk out 14 miles in total darkness. The Jeep was towed to the dealer where it remains 7 days later. It has 183 miles on it. Purchased it on May 29 and it broke down on June 2. The failure seemed to be electrical and across the board. It is the 4XE Hybrid, and the internet is littered with stories just like ours of this Jeep failing and stranding people or stopping on freeways or in intersections. We don't think it was ready for market when they introduced it for sale.Had this happened on a freeway it could have been disasterous for us and others around us.

Jun 2, 2021

We were on the way to drop our kids off at school when the car gave us a bunch of errors (see pictures). Once we got out of the driveway, the Jeep would not go faster than 5mph. It was towed to the dealer on May 4 and has been there ever since. I have been given conflicting information on what is wrong with it from the dealership and the manufacturer. No ETA on fix.

May 27, 2021

The backup camera does not work at different times. Local dealership said it was a common issue and should resolve itself in an hour.

' IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE OF MY 2 DOOR 2021 JEEP WRANGLER JL (ANNIVERSARY) THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA STOPPED WORKING AT START UP, AND CONTINUED TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE, DESPITE SOFTWARE REINSTALLS. ' TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND WITH JUST 2000 MILES ON IT, WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN I NOTICED THAT APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AFTER I PUT ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WOULD DIM SIGNIFICANTLY, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT AND DISTRACTING TO SEE THE SPEED AT WHICH I WAS DRIVING, OR THE CRUISE CONTROL. DIMMING MIGRATED QUICKLY AFTER THAT TO THE MONITOR WHICH BECAME HARD TO READ OR SEE. UCONNECT WAS ALSO NOT WORKING WITH IMAGES AND AUDIO BEING IN DISCERNABLE. ' NOT LONG AFTER THAT, I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ALSO INCREASING THE MPH ON ITS OWN WHILE IT WAS BEING SET. CLEARLY HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. ' FIVE DAYS LATER GOING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 40-50MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE JEEP SHIFTED INTO MANUAL AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I STOPPED THE CAR, SHUT IT OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON. THE CAR WAS STILL WORKING, BUT I WAS SCARED BY WHAT CLEARLY COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE-THREATENING CIRCUMSTANCE. ' AT THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DELIVERED TO ME IN THE GARAGE BY AN EMPLOYEE, IT STOPPED DRIVING IN FRONT OF MANY EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE GOING AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND RAIN WAS POURING DOWN, AND THE CAR SLIPPED INTO MANUAL OR PARK, AND BECOMING UNDRIVABLE. ' THE CAR CLEARLY HAS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND MY DEALERSHIP SEEMS UNCONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CLIENTS. THE JEEP CONTINUES TO BE A CONCERN FOR ME, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM FOR JEEPS.

MY 2021 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SAHARA'S BACK UP CAMERA FAILED WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF MY PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR TWO WEEKS AS THEY COULDNT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AS THE BACK UP CAMERA WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. I PROVED PICTURES OF THE BLANK SCREEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE. THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY JEEP WONT REPLACE ANYTHING UNLESS THEY CAN RECREATE. ON SATURDAY MARCH 27TH WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE NEW BACK UP CAMERA FAILED TO WORK AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE THAT I AM READING ON JEEP FORUMS, YET THE DEALERS CAN NEVER RECREATE THE ISSUE, AND WHEN THEY SAY THEY FIXED SOMETHING IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE BACK UP CAMERA SHOULD WORK 100% OF THE TIME, NOT INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS A STANDARD FEATURE ON ALL NEW CARS IN THE USA. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO NOT HAVE A RELIABLE BACK UP CAMERA. ON TOP OF THIS ISSUE MY SIRIUS XM IS INTERMITTENT AS WELL SKIPPING THE SOUND ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS OR SO. THESE ISSUES OCCUR WHEN MOVING ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
