Vehicle started and put in reverse. after backing up approximately 15 ft, vehicle put into driver and once accelerator was pressed, vehicle stalled. Tried to restart, engines turned over but stalled again after 1 second. Waited 10 seconds and tried to restart again, stalled again 1 second after turnover. Turned vehicle completely off, opened door, waited 30 seconds, tried starting again and system attempted to stat for 5-10 seconds (push to start ignition so I had no control over how long it tried this), but engine would not turn over. Vehicle also could not be shifted out of park (turned vehicle off and tried to put in “On” position without ever depressing the brake). Vehicle now stuck in driveway and unable to be moved. Acting like an issue with the fuel pump, which is a recall that was announced for some vehicles of this make and model, but NHTSA check shows no open recalls on vehicle. No warning lights or check engine lights came on.

Multiple failed recalls to stop vehicle High Voltage battery fires. I've already had the battery pack replaced once and now another recall of a software flash (68c) to test the battery cells separators for damage. So again the issue is still there and this is just another band-aid to catch it before it catches fire. This has been a ongoing issue for over a year and the issue is still not properly corrected. Multiple months of no charging, no parking in garage or near other vehicles/structures just to have another band-aid of a software flash, to stop the fire before it starts doesn't make me feel safe enough to put my family in this vehicle or to still want to charge or park anywhere near other vehicles or structures. This is the same process that "fixed" this issue the last time that obviously isn't a fix at all. The new battery they installed in 07/22/25 is just more of the same junk batteries without a proper fix.

Jeep has a design defect in vehicles equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged engine where the coolant reservoir is positioned directly adjacent to the turbocharger and turbo heat source with insufficient heat shielding. Due to the constant high heat exposure, the plastic coolant reservoir and/or connecting plastic fittings degrade, warp, and become brittle over time, eventually leading to coolant leaks, erratic coolant temperature readings, and/or sudden coolant loss. This failure often occurs without warning, and many vehicles do not initially trigger a check engine light. In my case, the vehicle exhibited intermittent coolant temperature readings, abnormal fan operation, and heating inconsistencies before the leak was discovered. Multiple repair attempts are frequently made before the root cause is identified. Mechanics often replace components such as the thermostat housing, coolant temperature sensors, or related assemblies, not realizing the coolant reservoir heat damage is the underlying cause. This results in unnecessary repairs, significant consumer expense, and extended vehicle downtime. This defect poses a serious safety risk, as coolant loss can result in: •Engine overheating •Sudden loss of power •Potential engine failure while driving •Increased risk of breakdown in traffic or unsafe driving conditions Numerous owners report similar failures, indicating this is not an isolated incident but a widespread design flaw affecting Jeep vehicles equipped with the 2.0L turbo engine.Jeep has not issued a Technical Service Bulletin or recall addressing the placement of the coolant reservoir or providing guidance to technicians to inspect for heat-related degradation in this area.I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this design defect and require Jeep to issue a Technical Service Bulletin or recall addressing this. The vehicle was properly maintained and not modified and The issue occurred at relatively low mileage.

I purchased (traded into) a 2021 Jeep Wrangler on October 31, 2024. The vehicle already had an open safety recall (68C) at the time of purchase. Shortly after, the vehicle began experiencing severe and dangerous safety failures. While driving, the Jeep suddenly goes into “turtle mode,” loses power without warning, and drops to 7–12 mph in traffic. The engine light comes on and the vehicle becomes almost undrivable. This creates an extremely hazardous situation where I could be rear-ended or left stranded on the road. This is a serious safety risk to me and to other drivers. I contacted Jeep/Stellantis Recall Customer Care to report the issue. Only after calling did I receive an email telling me I must pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, even though the vehicle is unsafe and the recall remedy is not available. I immediately responded saying I cannot pay upfront. Since November 25, Jeep/Stellantis has ignored my messages completely. The vehicle remains unsafe, undrivable, and under a recall with no available parts. Jeep has refused to provide a direct-billed rental or any safe alternative transportation. I have been left without a usable vehicle while the manufacturer fails to communicate or offer assistance. This is a major safety defect, and the lack of manufacturer response puts me in danger. If this vehicle loses power in traffic again, it could cause an accident. I am requesting NHTSA intervention because Jeep/Stellantis is not addressing this safety issue, not providing a remedy, and not honoring their recall responsibilities. Symptoms: •Sudden power loss •Turtle mode activation •Speed dropping to 7–12 mph unexpectedly •Engine warning light on •Vehicle unsafe to operate Manufacturer Failure: •Recall 68C remedy unavailable •Denied direct-billed rental •Required me to pay upfront for rental •No response to my communication since Nov 25 •Left me without transportation

In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealership (Hendricks Chrysler Dodge Birmingham, AL) for a full diagnostic inspection, and at that time I was told everything was fine. There were no warnings, no notes about electrical issues, airbags, coolant leaks, engine leaks, or any of the major concerns now being reported. On my most recent visit (October 2025), the dealership suddenly reported multiple “Immediate Attention” failures, including: • Airbag system issues • Electrical system failure • Coolant system leak • Water pump leak • Engine oil separator leak These items were never mentioned during my previous full diagnostic despite being safety-related components that typically show symptoms or codes. Because these new issues involve critical components like the airbags, engine, and electrical system, my safety was put at risk. I have been driving the vehicle daily under the belief that it had passed a full diagnostic months earlier. If these problems really existed at that time, then I was unknowingly operating an unsafe vehicle. If they did NOT exist, then the sudden appearance of multiple major failures raises concerns about incorrect diagnostics or improper prior inspection. I have not received any warning lights except the airbag light. The dealership has not provided a clear explanation as to how these issues appeared only months after a full inspection. This has caused significant concern regarding vehicle safety, diagnostic reliability, and whether the previous inspection was performed correctly. I am requesting NHTSA review because the dealership failed to identify or disclose major safety-related failures, which has potentially placed me in danger without any warning.

I was driving on the freeway, 65mph, in Los Angeles and the '21 Jeep Wrangler 4xe started showing a bunch of error messages telling me to safely pull over, loss of propulsion, etc. I lost power and was unable to drive past 38mph. Upon getting to the end of the off-ramp and before coming to a full stop, the vehicle threw itself into parking gear. I shifted to Park, and it wouldn’t shift out of Park, while I was blocking traffic on the off-ramp, which could have been a dangerous incident. I required a tow truck. There was a Check Engine Light and a 12V battery light while I was bricked. The tow truck was unable to jump start it. The dealer provided a pre-scan report showing stored codes P0607 (ECU Internal Performance) and P1B13 (Park-By-Wire Unintended Out of Park). Refusal to Repair: The dealer just replaced the 12V battery and "cleared the codes" (per their invoice). There is a known TSB 08-054-22 (NHTSA ID 10248015) specifically relating to code P0607 software logic, but they refused to look into it further. I didn’t have confidence in their diagnosis, and when requesting them to do a safety test drive with me, they refused. When I pressed for safety verification, the Service Director told me to “leave the dealership and never come back.” I was genuinely concerned about the safety of this vehicle and their lack of investigative diagnosis, specifically their refusal to verify if the TSB was performed to ensure the Hybrid Control modules have up-to-date software. They refused to offer any help and just told me to “take the vehicle and leave.” I don’t believe it’s normal for a car to lose propulsion from a weak 12V battery while driving. There seems to be a more complicated communication issue (P0607) that is happening, and it very much concerns me as losing propulsion on the highway is very dangerous.

Bolts came loose on thermostat housing caused all the fluid to leak out when looked up seems to be a common problem on these jeeps

We leased this vehicle in 2022. About 6 months into the lease the vehicle started acting like it was overheating. My stepdaughter took the car to a mechanic and they said the coolant system shows no signs of a leak. Periodically in the time she had the vehicle these symptoms would occur. Now in the summer of this year the engine seized. She was taking the vehicle to get oil changes on time except for one time she went over the mileage due. Anyway I’ve been trying to work with the dealer about the cost of repairs and who is responsible, but in the meantime I spoke with someone who had the exact same thing happen with his jeep wrangler similar year. Now this guy works at a car auction. Been working around cars. It seems this is pretty common with Jeep Wranglers. Her Jeep has been inoperable for months now.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon with approximately 23,000 miles. I recently received notice of Recall 68C (high-voltage battery fire risk). Jeep’s instructions say not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, away from structures, because of potential fire risk. The manufacturer has stated that no repair will be available until at least March 2026, leaving owners unable to safely use or charge their vehicles for months. This recall follows multiple previous recalls and investigations involving fire risk or electrical system failures on the Wrangler 4xe, including earlier campaigns related to the hybrid battery and software updates. The repeated safety issues raise concerns about the overall safety and reliability of this model. My vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition, but I can no longer use it as intended as a plug-in hybrid or safely park it in my garage. Jeep has not offered a timely fix, loaner vehicle, or buyback. I am reporting this because the ongoing risk of fire, coupled with repeated recalls and long repair delays, represents a serious safety hazard that deserves immediate NHTSA attention.

Nov 7, 2025

The vehicle has multiple critical, uncorrected safety defects: Loss of Motive Power (RQ24012), Engine Contamination (CSN 78C), and Battery Fire Risk (Recall 68C). Incident Details (R/O [XXX], [XXX]): My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe experienced a sudden and complete Loss of Motive Power while operating. The customer concern noted on the Repair Order states the vehicle "seems to loose power while driving above 30MPH... and feel like it was going to turn off." This failure rendered the vehicle inoperable and created an extreme safety hazard on a major roadway [XXX] ), forcing me to coast to safety. Component Failure and Safety Risk: The failed components are the Engine (2.0L Turbo), Hybrid Propulsion System, and Electric Coolant Heater (ECH). The dealer's repair (R/O [XXX]) confirmed system instability by replacing the ECH. This loss of power is directly linked to the manufacturer's known defect (CSN 78C), where sand contamination in the engine can cause catastrophic failure and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. This mechanical defect is the root cause of the safety risk and is currently under NHTSA investigation (RQ24012). Additionally, the vehicle is subject to Recall 68C (Battery Fire Risk), preventing safe use of the PHEV system and forcing me to park away from structures. The combination of these uncorrected defects puts both my safety and the safety of others at risk. Warning Lamps: A 'Service Hybrid System' light or similar warning message appeared at the time of the incident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer (Price Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) and is documented in Repair Order [XXX]. The component is available for inspection upon request. My local dealer has all the documentation on this jeep. It has been into the dealership many times now the check engine light is on for another problem which I am taking it in again this weekend . When I ask the dealer, I’ve been seeing things on Facebook about these jeeps having issues they just filled me full of a bunch of Bull and says every vehicle has issues. I’ve ran the VIN number and found out that mine is one of them that just catches on fire plus sometimes shakes when it’s driving down the road but that’s been minor considering everything else. One time I was driving up the driveway and it felt like the transmission slipped or something. They said it was something in the four-wheel-drive that went out. This is a new vehicle. It has very low miles on it. I’ve had it going on maybe the fourth year now it’s only got 31,000 miles on it I don’t drive it very far. It’s been in the shop several times for recalls or things that’s happened to it. When I first got it, it left me stranded would not start. I’d only had it a few days. It has been a lemon from start to finish. I am terrified to drive it and I don’t have another vehicle. I paid $55,000 for this jeep just a few years ago. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I desperately need help if the manufacturer is refunding people’s monies I want to make sure that I get enough money to buy another vehicle because this one is only a few years old and it’s been in the shop numerous amount of times. The other day it shimmied a little bit on the highway and I thought it was the road and now I’m reading that there’s problems with that also, it’s clearly a lemon. But as I said, I’m scared to death to drive it now. The newest development as I’ve said is now the check engine light is on. It’s only been out of the shop for maybe three weeks since they fixed something in the four-wheel-drive which I’ve never even used. I love the looks of this Jeep, but it’s not dependable so I need help.

Put a brand new battery in my vehicle - 3 days later driving on the highway had full loss of power - if said to service the charging system, and to put the car in park, then to press the brake and start button to start the vehicle. Went from 75MPH to 25MPH - rolled off the highway.

I was driving my 2021 Jeep wrangler and it started running poorly. I was near the dealership. I called them and told them I was headed to them asap. (I was within 3 mile range). The car died in the middle of an intersection. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. I got a tow truck to bring it to the dealership. Where they told me that the coolant tube fasteners for my vehicle were gone, and that the engine was blown, including the pump. Elbow screws were missing for the vehicle and coolant was everywhere in my vehicle. My car has 46,000 miles on it. It has had every single oil change ,reported recall done and service request to complete completed.. It has been taken very well care of and has only been to this one dealership.. according to the dealership, it is not covered under my powertrain warranty, and that I must pay for the engine and other parts myself. Upon looking into this, I looked into the NHTSA and also the FCA for recalls on a 2021. I found that that my 2021 would have been recalled for recall number ZD8. Recall code is exactly what is wrong with my 2021 vehicle. I don’t know why they didn’t did not add my VIN number to it, but I am requesting that it be investigated to help me get this covered under warranty. I have contacted Chrysler currently they’re telling me that the engine is not available until November 17 at the earliest so at this time I am in a rental car that I am paying for.. I do believe that my VIN number for my vehicle should have been added and that it should be investigated for other owners of Jeep Wrangler 2021 and 2022 vehicles that possibly were not listed with their VIN numbers. Please help expedite. chrysler case # 94425835. Dealer code 45091 and customer number 81103. Thank you

2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, VIN [XXX] , Recall P0DAB-00 (Hybrid/EV Cell Balancing Performance Case #[XXX], Jeep corporate case manager Tiona. On 8/11/25, I brought my vehicle to Freeland Jeep, Antioch, TN for a separate issue and requested inspection for the open EV battery recall. The dealership gave a “green flag,” confirming no recall impact. On [XXX], the check engine light came on and the vehicle drove unsafely. On [XXX], the exact recall issue (P0DAB-00) was diagnosed — the same issue we asked to be inspected. Approval for hybrid battery replacement was granted; part was ordered for 9/3 with repair by 9/5 — repair never occurred. Service advisor Brian Astorga claimed the part “cannot be located.” Calls/emails to service manager David Beasley and case manager Tiona are unanswered. The timing is highly suspicious: the vehicle failed immediately after the “all clear” inspection, suggesting potential negligence or miscommunication. We are now more than 1 month without a vehicle, which is unsafe and unacceptable. AND we even had to argue with Jeep to cover a rental! Requested Action: Require Jeep to complete the recall repair immediately or initiate a full buyback. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I experienced an extreme coolant leak caused by the coolant inlet tube fasteners backing out and becoming loose. This is consistent with MOPAR recall CSN ZD8 for 2021-2022 Jeep Wrangler. My vin does not seem to be covered by this recall but experienced the same issue. I request that the VINs be extended to include my VIN. It started with the engine sounding louder then normal. Then a bad smell in the cab of the vehicle. Later found out it was a exhaust leak that was getting into the vehicle causing headaches and other symptoms of carbon monoxide. Also note the burn marks around the broken bracket that could cause a fire if not mechanically inclined to notice. Not check engine light for this. But when I spoke to the dealership it wasn't new to them. Apparently this has happened to alot of the ecodiesel jeep and gladiators. A common problem that should be resolved before and life threatening injuries result in loss of consciousness or fire.

From the moment I drove off the lot, I encountered problems. The battery light came on immediately, requiring a replacement within weeks. I returned to the original CarMax location for this service. However, this was only the beginning. Over time, I discovered the following: The driver seatbelt was not functioning properly The right rear passenger seatbelt buckle was completely missing The filters were filthy and had not been cleaned or replaced in well over a year, according to a trusted mechanic The engine may now require replacement at just 38,000 miles When I called CarMax to report the missing seatbelt buckle, I was incorrectly told that my vehicle was not under warranty. This was untrue — I was well within the warranty period at the time. Despite this, I was ignored, and the safety concern received no follow-up or correction. This points to either a falsified or negligent vehicle inspection at the time of sale. Your "125+ point inspection" failed to catch multiple clear safety hazards and wear issues — or worse, they were deliberately overlooked. What’s most disturbing is that I only discovered the missing seatbelt after my sister drove the vehicle with my [XXX] and [XXX] nephews in the backseat. One child had to sit in the middle because the rear right buckle was completely missing. That realization — that I unknowingly placed children at risk in a vehicle that your team labeled "safe" — is devastating. Now I’m being told that the engine may be failing — and it hasn’t even hit 40,000 miles. I was recently asked by the Southlake service team to provide oil change records, which I am willing to share. But let’s be clear: An oil change receipt does not explain why a newer engine is failing at this mileage — unless something much deeper is wrong. While operating the 2021 Jeep Wrangler under normal driving conditions, I experienced repeated overheating issues. A high-pitched noise was consistently heard coming from under the hood during operation. Simultaneously, the engine temperature gauge would spike to high, and the infotainment system displayed an engine overheating warning. When the vehicle is started from a cold start - the high pitch is constant. To prevent damage or risk of fire, I immediately pulled the vehicle over and allowed the engine to cool. Upon restarting, the overheating issue persisted, with the temperature gauge rising and falling erratically—up to four times during a 15-minute drive. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership service center for inspection. The following findings were documented: Coolant System: High-temperature coolant reservoir found completely empty. Low-temperature reservoir found low on coolant. Evidence of coolant leakage at multiple coolant line fittings. Engine Block: External head gasket leak observed. Pressure test confirmed leaks in coolant lines. Internal Engine Inspection: Spark plugs were removed and coolant residue was found in the combustion chambers. Cylinder walls showed damage consistent with overheating. Slightly burned valves noted during inspection. Based on the findings above, the engine has suffered critical failure due to overheating and internal coolant leakage. The combination of external gasket leaks, coolant residue in the cylinders, damaged cylinder walls, and burned valves presents a serious mechanical and safety concern. Full engine replacement is required. Estimated cost: $16,000.00 This engine failure may pose a significant safety risk due to: Sudden loss of power while driving, Potential engine fire from overheating, Exposure to steam or hot coolant under hood Risk of engine seizing while on motion.

June 5, 2025 stopped at red light turned green tried to turn left and the jeep flashed the electric red bolt symbol and check engine light came on lost all power would not go when gas pedal was pushed. a/c lost power started blowing hot air and engine turned off. Restarted engine finally got it to go enough to pull out of traffic. Turned off engine opened hood checked battery cables, fuses and all was intact. Started engine drove slowly to the Autozone store to have the diagnostic test done and it showed P2101 power train system throttle actuator A control motor circuit range /performance detected unexpected voltage on the throttle actuator control motor circuit also C121C-00 ABS torque request signal denied Anti-lock Brake System U0401-00 implausible data received from ECM/PCM “A”. System was reset to be able to drive home. 6/16/25 went to start jeep to go to work made a clicking noise check engine light on and the voltage warning sensor flashing and showed Service Electronic Stability Control error would not stay running checked battery cables fuses and restarted engine tried to back out of driveway engine would not go. Had jeep towed to Moore CDJR dealership where it was purchased from 9/2023 to have serviced found throttle body needs replaced dealership contacted several parts dealers, Mopar, and other dealerships etc. to locate the part needed was advised couldn’t find the parts needed for the repair. Contacted service department and they advised they were calling National Auto Care my extended warranty for approval for repair. My concern is if I had been driving 65 mph and it went out I would have been in a accident when the vehicle stopped functioning. Safety of myself and other drivers would have been compromised. This is the 2.0L Turbo motor and have been advised that there are several issues with this motor and should trade in vehicle. I don’t have that option and this is the only vehicle I have.

My jeep started leaving me stranded 8 times. The jeep would not start but had warning lights of " service charging system" , with picture of a battery in left of dash, a wrench, engine light, and it won't go into neutral to have it towed. I had it in the shop twice, and they cannot figure out the cause. They did update the computer to cover the recall from automatic combustion. { updated the computer) . It got worse, the car is now cutting off while on. I had it towed to the jeep dealer aging tonight . The dashboard lights do not come onto until after engine failure. This is a hybrid, I was told by Crossroads to keep the vehicle charged but this has not corrected the problem.

Since we have had the high pressure fuel pump recall completed/replaced, there have been ongoing problems with the cooling system that cause overheating multiple times, on the same grade of road, during subsequent trips. The vehicle alerts and says it has overheated, and is stopped and allowed to cool off. Coolant is indeed low, but there are not any visible leaks and there is no puddling or areas where it appears to be leaking. We have had this issued looked at twice, several repairs completed, hoses replaced, reservoir replaced, and we are still having this issue. This appears to be something exclusive to the diesel motor, as we have friends with the same vehicle with gasoline engine that are not having this concern.

The contact owned a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost automotive power. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was started, however, the vehicle failed to start as intended. The contact drifted the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated the rear of the vehicle was filled with smoke. The contact exited the vehicle. The contact stated that within five minutes, the fire was coming from the hood compartment. The vehicle was towed to the local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss. The contact referenced an unknown recall repair, which had a similar failure description, however, the contact's VIN was not associated with the unknown recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.

2021-2024 jeeps with 3.6 penstar are being sold with camshafts that go bad at around 60-80k miles. There needs to be an immediate recall. I have mine at just under 70k and recently had to spend 3 grand to get it fixed with a new part all because the warranty is up and there’s no recall out for it. This is absolutely unacceptable.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety and reliability issues with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, purchased from Heritage Jeep in Logan, Utah. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and severe electrical failures, including: The vehicle failing to start on numerous occasions Complete loss of electrical systems (dash, lights, ignition) Batteries failing to hold or receive charge Multiple warning indicators that do not resolve after service attempts These failures have rendered the vehicle inoperable for over 65 days total since the date of purchase. Despite multiple service visits and numerous documented attempts to address these problems, the dealership—Heritage Jeep in Logan—has not been able to resolve the underlying issue. I have retained all service records, work orders, and correspondence to support these claims. This issue not only causes significant inconvenience, but it raises serious safety concerns, especially when the vehicle becomes unresponsive or loses power without warning. I believe this may reflect a defect in the vehicle’s electrical or hybrid system and warrants investigation to protect other consumers. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) open a formal investigation into this vehicle and hold the manufacturer and dealership accountable for the ongoing safety risk and failure to adequately repair or replace the vehicle under warranty. I was also in regular contact with Jeep Corporate throughout the ongoing issues, but they stopped responding before a resolution was reached. I have retained all email correspondence documenting those interactions.

On [XXX], I was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. I still noticed the smell did not go away. So I opened the windows & turned off the AC. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. This was completely a safety hazard to myself, two friends and the public. Luckily, there was a fire department just a few buildings down. They arrived shortly after the 911 call and put out the fire, preventing further damage to the surroundings. It was terrifying but thankfully we are all safe. The jeep was taken to the dealership under a software battery recall and the software was updated. One week later while driving at approximately 55mph, there was a sudden jerk in the propulsion system. the car shifted abruptly from electric to gas motor and the electric mode was unavailable. The vehicle jerked and hesitated at every acceleration and deceleration causing unsafe operating conditions . The check engine light was on I returned it to the dealer immediately and was told that the high voltage hybrid battery was bad. I'm pretty convinced from my and other experiences that the software up date was not a remedy to previous incidents reported to you. It was a software patch that determined if the battery was bad.

I took my 2021 diesel Jeep in for a Y81 Emissions recall on 02.19.24. Since then, my vehicle has had its check engine light go on SIX TIMES with a P0133 alert which refers to an O2 sensor. I have taken it in to the dealership for a resolution six times. Currently, it is set to be diagnosed and repaired yet one more time on 01.22.25. Now we are in the middle of winter and I feel like the vehicle is about to die at intersections and roundabouts when I approach them. I tried to go through an arbitration with FCA USA LLC which produces the Jeep brand and it was denied for a repurchase of the vehicle because the arbitrator felt it was not a safety issue since I still drive the vehicle and they are technically not in violation of the warranty which I did not accept as a resolution. Due to my non-resolved safety concern, I am raising the issue in this forum so hopefully something can be done and others that potentially have the same issue can reach a resolution as well. My hypothesis of the cause of the issue is when the Y81 recall happened, it tuned down the emissions output that was originally higher necessary for the vehicle to run, because I didn't have check engine lights before. By this tune-down of emissions, the engine is not able to produce the correct output to run the vehicle and thus the random lack of power causing a safety issue, and is currently adversely affecting components that are causing the P0133 O2 sensor to alert.

The engine and cluster showed and made noises indicating that the hybrid system was malfunctioning. The cluster indicated a speed limit at high speeds, but never did so. The electric drivetrain was disconnected and the handling and power were severely affected. It was dangerous because the distracting and concerning issues were during a rapid speed and in dangerous conditions with no clear remedy. The check engine, red turtle, and battery lights indicated the problem, but not beforehand. There were some warranty fixes around the battery including recall work.

Received regenerative braking must be serviced notice, followed by loss of motive control. Push accelerator, would not accelerate and actually rolled backwards, multiple notification lights came on, car started to move after 5 seconds, happened again. pulled over to turn on/off car, car would NOT turn on. tried several times and resolved to get it towed. After 5 min, tried one more time to start the car and it did turn on. Functioned normally. Drove to dealership and dealership diagnosis is nothing wrong, dealership now working with Chevrolet engineers.

Recent recall 95B was performed December 15th, 2024 on my Jeep 4xe. The vehicle passed the road test involved with the safety recall to detect a defective high voltage battery. On December 26th, within 100 miles of the recall test being performed, the vehicle cruise control involuntarily shut off, check engine light illuminated and the vehicle lost power on the freeway. We were able to return home with the vehicle lurching while driving, having erratic acceleration from a stop and pushing through braking. The issues continued a few days later when delivering to the Jeep service center and the Jeep died in the service lane and had to be pushed the rest of the way to the service bay. The "fix'' that Stellantis has provided seems to simply later detect the battery issue that the recall test was designed to detect under their care during the test procedure. There are numerous other 4xe owners that I am aware of that are having the same post-test failures and motive power losses in traffic soon after their vehicle 'passed' the battery test. This 'solution' is causing a dangerous situation for the owners and the general motoring public. The Jeep has since been reevaluated and determined that the battery that the recall was intended to detect is indeed defective and is being replaced.

Metal chunks found in engine oil, and as were not metal powder swirl, shavings, or specs, possibly from bottom engine crankshaft. At the crank pulley, with the belt off, I could feel nudge by hand from the middle, for an engine component with max specified endplay 0.012 inches, or fraction of a millimeter. An existing manufacturer recall, and not a safety recall, for this 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L Turbo is inspection for loose bolts for water pump inlet. This vehicle will not be available for inspection requests, because it is still not, and waiting to be, diagnosed as the dealer could not necessarily hear an engine issue. I have heard it knock, like a rumbling V8 and turbo whined, and recently I decided to strain the old and knocking oil that I kept and discovered metal. There was something wrong all along. Top engine, with good gas mileage, has been fine. The safety concern to this vehicle is metal in oil to possibly enter top engine and create sudden or instant engine seizure while in operation. The safety of driver or others could be at risk. The safety concern to this vehicle is also the detioration of engine components since they appear under the sole discretion of this motorized vehicle. This means, no other factor known to the driver of this vehicle by which rate of engine detioration has occurred. An indicating observation to be made into this vehicle's safety is the endplay of the crankshaft. This vehicle is nearly 97,000 miles odometer. The endplay seems very excessive, causing me to speculate on original factory fitment and installation during assembly. What determinations into a non-safety recall of loose water pump bolts might emerge as consideration into engine interior deterioration, as rate of this deterioration appear under sole vehicle discretion and remain unknown to the driver. Insufficient cooling is known to cause buildup in any engine, this vehicle has burped coolant air. No warning lights in the dash was seen.

After taking my jeep 4xe in for the 95B recall I drove around 50 miles and the check engine light came on. Once home vehicle would not turn on or charge. Error on dash said “charging system error.” Next day the vehicle would turn on be experience extreme slowness after stopping with bursts of acceleration. The accceleration and breaking system were extremely jerky and I felt like I didn’t know how the car would respond when accelerating which was dangerous.

Dec 29, 2024

After performing the 95B recall, within 20-30 miles of driving the CEL came on. After powering off and back on the “service charging system” alert displayed on the dash. The vehicle seemed drivable however, and I proceeded to drive it to the dealership two days later which is about 4 miles away. In multiple instances when trying to accelerate from a stop the vehicle would not accelerate to more than 3-4 mph for multiple seconds leaving me stranded pulling out across traffic in the middle of an intersection waiting on the car to accelerate to a normal speed. Regardless of how much the accelerator was pressed the vehicle just rolled forward very, very slowly. Eventually, the vehicle lurched forward violently. Within this 3-4 mile drive this happened 3 times. The car remained jerky and unpredictable. I was fortunate to be driving at a low traffic time and made sure to allow extra space due to feeling the car acting slow after the CEL appeared. Had I treated it normally during normal commute hours, I would have been hit by oncoming traffic. I left the vehicle at the dealership and am waiting on response.

The vehicle’s check engine light come on earlier this year and the electric motor/battery was not functioning properly. It was serviced in September and I was told by the dealership that the software update would resolve the issue. It did not. The vehicle was serviced again on 12/13/24 and I was told that it passed the 95B recall test but that the check engine light came back on. The dealership said they ran more tests and now the electric cooling/heating unit needs to be replaced but they won’t have the part for approximately 2 weeks. The electric cooling/heating unit is for controlling climate within the vehicle and should not affect its propulsion. While driving the vehicle the day after I picked it up from the dealership, I was nearly involved in what would’ve been a serious accident. I was turning at an intersection, but the vehicle lost motor function and would not accelerate, leaving me sitting in the intersection with traffic oncoming. Fortunately, after several seconds, the vehicle began to move with not much time to spare. This problem recurred throughout my drive returning home. I have not and will not drive the vehicle again until I am able to return to the dealership for a third time.

I was driving on the turnpike on or about [XXX][. I drove over some ridges on [XXX]. My jeep starting violently shaking out of control it felt like the wheels were gonna pop off. I had to grip onto the steering wheel to try to keep the vehicle from hitting any other cars. It went on for about five minutes then it stopped, but I could feel a change in the way, the steering felt. There was no warning signs on my dashboard .It felt like I didn’t have complete control of the steering. After I got off of the turnpike, I was on [XXX] trying to get home safely after experiencing this terrifying experience . When i was on [XXX] I hit a red light and when the light turned green, I went to put my foot on the gas and it would not go so the person behind me almost hit. I had to put the jeep into park and I put it back into drive then proceeded to go and it was still driving like I didn’t have complete control of the steering so then om [XXX]. I set up an appointment with Sands Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. When I was on the phone With the advisor, she told me that was the death wobble that I was experiencing, but I need to have The Jeep diagnosed to verify that so I got a multi point inspection report Sent to me that said , Caution Steering Linkage (Damage/Leaks/Worn Components) Pending Recommendations Replace Steering Damper (Stabilizer) Associated Item General concern #1 customer states vehicle was shaking heavily on highway. The dealership is charging me when they know that Fiat Chrysler automobiles (FCA) , The former parent company of Jeep issued a recall for the 2018 to 2019 Jeep, Wrangler and Jeep gladiator models due to a steering wheel vibration issue known as the “ Death wobble”. FCA recalled over 190,000 vehicles to replace the front suspension steering damper also known as the stabilizer. and that’s Exactly what I needed to have replaced, steering damper Also known as stabilizer. I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL--VIN [XXX] . On Wednesday, [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and without prior warning overheated. I immediately parked the car. There were no obvious signs of leaks but we went and got some coolant and I put about 1/4 gallon of coolant in as it was low. I had the car towed to the dealership. The service advisor informed me that the issue was related to TSB 07-001-22 REV. B. They had to tighten the bolts connecting the inlet tube. As I searched on some Jeep Forums, I discovered that this issue was addressed with CSN ZD8, however, it's only applicable to certain VINs within 2021-2022. When I mentioned this to the advisor, she said my car wasn't affected by the recall. Clearly, this is a broader issue than just the VINs noted in the recall since this exact issue happened to my vehicle. I reached out to FCA and was assigned a case manager. After speaking with her, she informed me that she just talked with the dealership possibly providing cost assistance with the matter. I don't know why they're putting it back on the dealership when it's clearly a manufacturing defect. The dealership covered about 1/2 of the cost. I was driving on [XXX] in San Diego going 75 mph and I received a number of alerts and flashing and audible sounds. When I looked at the dash it had an alert that said performance unstable pull over place vehicle in park. I immediately lost power to the accelerator and the car started to slow so I pulled over on the shoulder. Luckily, I was in the right hand side lane in the carpool section, and there was a shoulder. If there had been no shoulder, I would’ve been stuck in traffic in the lane. The car would not restart and I had to have it towed from [XXX]. My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

I was leaving my home on July 25th. Suddenly when turning onto the freeway approach. The car battery light turned on. Then suddenly a Red Turtle came on dropping my speed instantly from 35 to 5 MPH. I was able to barely avoid an accident by throwing the steering wheel to the right moving out of traffic. Had this been about 1000 feet further along, things could have been dangerous. I had the car towed to the dealership.... where they informed me this is the hybrid battery.... an issue that I have had now 4 times with this vehicle and was supposed to be fixed. It has been in the shop for over 2 weeks.

Unexpected unwarned complete loss of all motive power while driving on a 4 lane main road. The Jeep lost all power, no ICE power and no elec motor power. Dash message said put vehicle in park to restart - at the time i was going about 45mph in the left lane of a 4 lane. Vehicle coasting and decelerating as i was on flat terrain. Was luckily able to get safely to the shoulder. Vehicle restarted after putting it in park, then drove normally with nothing out of the ordinary, no more messages, no warning or check engine lights.

Hi the two major issues that need to reported. 1. The vehicle would just shut down while driving at highway speeds. It would have trouble restarting and you would have to cost to the shoulder. This issue was random, we took it to the dealership and they drove it for a week until it left them on the side of the road. They kept it for just over a month and a star case had to be opened. 2. 2nd issue, The vehicle would shutter when accelerating and would shutter when braking. Extremely dangerous when trying to drive it back to the dealership. It had something to do with the vehicle not knowing if it wanted to be in electric or gas. this also caused the ac to stop working and the blind spot system not to work . This time they had it for just over a month to change the main battery. Both case the vehicle was unsafe to be on the road and could have led to a major accident.

Hi, I am hereby, reporting that a clutch recall and software update was done on my 2021 wrangler jeep rubicon and the jeep would shut down when pressing the gas pedal and bogs down while driving. The jeep is still at the dealership since June 18 2024 and haven't heard anything from them so far and they won't give me a loaner vehicle. I don't have any other vehicle to drive. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Our vehicle electrical components has been acting up since we bought it in 2021 (all lights flashing, stalling and not able to restart the vehicle). In 2023, the vehicle stalled in the middle of a 6 lanes busy highway and would not restart. Following this, recalls were performed (unknown if related to any issues). Again, our vehicle stalled and wouldn't start again even after all recalls were performed. Our dealer said it is unsafe to drive and will change the EV Battery but from reading online forums, this did not solve the major similar issues for other Jeep 4Xe owners. When issues occurred, all warning lights would turn on and the most recent issue, the engine light stayed on. The Jeep has been with the dealership for over a month. There was no accidents, luckily as other vehicles managed to avoid us luckily as this could haven been a tragic accident even fatal.

Jul 12, 2024

I was driving on the highway and loss of power warning appeared on the dashboard just before the entire vehicle shut off. I was able to safely cross 3 lanes of traffic and waiting for a tow truck. When the vehicle shut off there were not issues with the Jeep, very little warning and the vehicle eventually was able to start back up. The dealership was not able to diagnose the issue.

While climbing a mountain pass between 2000' and 2500' MSL and passing some vehicles at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and multiple warning lights illuminated. These included: Service Electronic Throttle Control, Check Engine Light, Automatic Emergency Brake system failure, Adaptive Cruise Control system failure. After the initial power loss, the engine seemed to partially recover and could be driven below 60 mph until the vehicle was shut down and restarted. There were no signs or warnings of any impending failure. The coolant, engine oil, and transmission temperatures were well below the published limits. The danger was the power loss was sudden, unexpected, and at a critical time when passing large trucks and in the vicinity of heavy traffic with no emergency parking available. This reported event is the fourth time it has occurred. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer to repair it, and the dealers have attempted three times to fix it (all three times dealer fixed something different). All three times they reported the issue had been fixed, yet it has re-occurred after each time. It is currently scheduled for a fourth dealer visit.

Once I was able to move again, my vehicle would stall.

I have been waiting for a recall to be fixed and Jeep has no known date of delivery for the recall part BUT Jeep has new ones on the lot for sale. My entire vehicle is acting up, one day my reverse sensors malfunction then they don't, my defrost is not working, I can't remote start at all and I live in Buffalo so I need a warm vehicle, the Jeep 4xe will jump forward when coming to a stop, the heater isn't responding when I turn up dial, the death wobble has happened. And my dealer is worthless - no communication so I have to resort to this writing. I bought the 4xe Jan 4, 2021 (brand new) because the "electric" miles get me back and forth to work just fine and less money for gas. The Jeep itself was $63K, and I bought extended warranty. Fast forward to today. I have gone over 2 months w/o electric b/c no parts avail.

FROM JEEP - "An internally failed HV battery could lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. Customers are advised to refrain from recharging these vehicles and not to park them inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed." First: I live in Philadelphia and DO NOT have the ability to park away from structures, buildings or other vehicles. The jeep 4xe is capable of lighting on fire at ANY POINT and there is nothing I can do to reduce my risk. The recall has been made public since Nov 22,2023 and there is still no lead on a fix nearly 3 months later. Second: These are plug in hybrid vehicles that are of premium cost for the plug in/electric feature. Losing the ability to charge them greatly reduces the use and value of the vehicle. This is by far the worst recall I have ever seen and am dumbfounded that I now sit here nearly 100 days after the recall with no further instruction or lead on a solution. Jeep should be forced to compensate and provide a reasonable alternative until the solution is established.

We purchased our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE/4WD Hybrid in December of 2021. Since our purchase, we've received multiple recall notices which were since resolved. The volume of these recalls has been concerning to us, especially for such an expensive vehicle for which we had an expectation of quality. However, the most recent recall for the High Voltage Battery B9A/NHTSA 23V-787 is a catastrophic problem because we live in an attached townhome community. This exposes us personally to both catastrophic danger AND liability. Secondarily, we paid a hefty premium purchase price for a hybrid vehicle, a function that is lost to us now. We also incurred the considerable expense of installing a charger in our garage, for use with our Jeep Rubicon. We can no longer use this charging station.

My jeep wrangler entire dashboard turned red flashing , lighting up that the coolant was way too high. This has happened twice and both times when contacting Jeep corporate it was the waterpump that went bad and now has been replaced twice. Jeep corporate thinks that it is fine to replace a water pump twice in less than a year and a half . Now I have the death wobble where on the interstate at speeds over 60 miles an hour my steering wheel shakes like crazy making it hard to operate my 2021 wrangler unless I get under 60 miles per hour which is a risk for everyone on the road. When telling corporate about these issues. They have full documentation and they say well it’s covered under warranty. Well warranty doesn’t last forever and I am scared for my safety and others. Look at the reviews on Jeep corporate- none are good and talk continuously on water pump issues and death wobble problems . Please help me

Recall (B9A) has been out since November of 2023. The recall states "An internally failed HV battery could lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage." As of today, no 'remedy' is available. In the mean time, can't charge the car. Driving the car would seem to be 'unwise' as the risk seems to be with the 'ignition on or off'. Can't park the car in my garage. Can't drive it to work as my employer doesn't want the liability should an issue arise. Been waiting patiently for a remedy - so far nothing but static.

I received a notification in March 2023 that there was a recall on my vehicle concerning a faulty clutch plate. The issue still hasn’t been addressed and I’m concerned about driving it due to the number of incidents that have occurred.

Dec 19, 2023

I have tried out to Jeep for asking if the open recall issue can be fix they do not have any solution how to fix the issue and no necessary parts are available with the dealer or even with Jeep itself.

My Jeep has the 3.0 ecodiesel engine and there are two batteries. One battery is huge and powers all the components on my vehicle. The second battery is tiny and considered an auxiliary battery. It is located in a place that I can not get too, and can not check to see if its good or bad. However, as soon as it has any issues it will keep the Jeep from starting up. If you are out in the country or in the middle of nowhere then you will be stranded. It does not matter if the larger battery is working perfectly, the auxiliary battery will disable the entire vehicle anyway. This is a huge safety issue for obvious reasons. According to Jeep forums over the internet, this is a very common issue on all Jeeps with two batteries. It would be nice to take the auxiliary battery out, but Jeep engineered the two batteries to disable the entire vehicle if the auxiliary battery dies. Poor engineering? Perhaps! I would suggest there be a recall and that Jeep be forced to take the auxiliary battery out and re-wire the electrical system to allow vehicles to start regardless of the auxiliary battery. Some customers might want to keep the auxiliary battery cause it plays a part with the auto-start system. I would like to remove the battery and the auto-start all together and still have a functioning vehicle. I don't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere where I have no cellphone service.

My 2021 4XE Wrangler Rubicon has already had the Loss of Motive Power Recall performed a year ago. Jeep stated that the recall software update would prevent this incident. It is not corrected!!! Yesterday, while traveling on I-70 near Virginia at about 70 mph (the speed limit), the Jeep displayed a Jeep Vehicle with the PHEV High Voltage Cables and Battery Pack Diagram drawn over the Jeep in Bright Red color. No codes happened at all when this appeared (no Check Engine Light, no service indicators, nothing). Some words quickly flashed on the dash display stating something like, "Loss of Performance" and the engine shutdown completely and the "D" next to shifter binked yellow continuously afterwards. The dash then stated to Shift Vehicle into Park to Restart (while still coasting at nearly 70 mph). I managed to coast it to the emergency lane, stop the Jeep, shift into park and restart. It then would not run even remotely normal, because it was in a safety mode of some sort. Again, with the engine running completely erratically, no coding at all. When I pressed the accelerator like normal, it would not respond at all (even putting it to the floor had no affect). I had to figure out how to get the accelerator to work so I could drive it back home. I had to gently press the pedal to get it to respond and then the Jeep would not go above about 2500 RPM. It would force itself to slow down if it reached any higher RPM. I went to the local Jeep Dealership ASAP today and was told nothing was recorded in the computer, software is up to date, and there is nothing wrong with my Jeep. This is a serious problem and has to be diagnosed and fixed!!!!

My diesel Jeep Wrangler has had an open safety recall for 12 months (Z96/NHTSA 22V-767), related to the high pressure fuel pump. Jeep/Stellantis continually fails to address this issue and pushes the estimated timeline for repairs months down the road. Every time I call or bring my vehicle in for service, I am alerted to this open safety recall, then told there is no fix available. I have tried to trade my Jeep in several times over the last 9 months, but dealers have been unwilling to take a vehicle on trade with an open safety recall and no fix available.

I’m reaching out due to a severe issue with my Wrangler 4xe Rubicon that has left me stranded twice in 2 weeks. The vehicle is shutting down, without warning, and is not able to re-start, so you can just imagine that the circumstances could be far more dire or outright life-threatening had this happened in a remote location or a dangerous high-traffic area. Both times the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Even more troubling is that the root cause of the malfunction (OBD CODE: P0BBD HYBRID BATTERY VOLTAGE VARIATION EXCEEDED LIMIT) has yet to be diagnosed, despite the vehicle being serviced for the better part of a week, only to suddenly refuse to start just 3 days after getting it back — again, leaving me stranded. Multiple attempts to reach Jeep executives over several days has yielded no response. All my safety recalls have been addressed so Jeep has told me this vehicle was safe to drive before these incidents. Additionally, the vehicle was in the shop for the better part of 2 weeks earlier this year with a battery heater malfunction. I work in emergency surgery and if I don't have a reliable vehicle to respond to emergencies, patients can literally die. That is not hyperbole, its reality.

Check Engine Light and Excessive Engine Coolant Leak; Inspected by a manufacturer dealer and seller dealership; Initial dealer stated it wasn't drivable due to the amount of coolant leaking as part of the tubing was melted due to improperly being afixed and being to close to the exhaust; Yes. The same issue was reported 3 times before the issue I had in regards to the check engine light and a recall on the coolant leak was indicated to be fixed in March 2023 but continued to be an issue now; Warning light for the check engine appeared the same day I brought the vehicle in.

I went to the dealership. They said since there were no lights or messages on dashboard they really couldn’t do anything. I insisted on them looking at it and they scheduled an appointment a week later. They said I have to leave the car with them for a week so they can look at it. They won’t give me a loaner to drive and they are short staffed so the car just sits on their lot for a week. This is completely unacceptable. There was no sense of urgency on something that could’ve turned into a tragic accident driving on the highway in Chicago. I took the car home. It was driving ok this week until today Saturday 8/27, my appointment is for Monday and car is completely dead and won’t start.

When coming to a stop and electric power is depleted, the vehicle will engage the gas engine and accelerate through a brake. I have to fight the vehicle to come to a complete stop because the engine is pulling me forward through the brake. Due to the unpredictability of the braking system, I must leave a greater stopping distance than required and have almost been in accidents. CAUSE UNKNOWN. I believe the powertrain, engine, and braking systems are involved. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership shop several times for this problem, and one software update was offered to try to fix the issue, but the issue is ongoing. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

While driving approximately 15 mph the engine cut out and the engine light came on. I was able to pull over and the engine would not start. My personal obd scanner states it is the high pressure fuel pump. I had to be towed by AAA from Moab UT to grand junction Colorado Jeep Chrysler dealership 5/25/2023

This recall is potentially life threatening. It has been months & the dealer is still saying there is no fix. I believe they are not giving it the proper attention because this recall affects only Diesel engines & there were not many diesel jeep models purchased compared to traditional gas engine jeeps. I own 2. Both are affected & I feel unsafe. Please see that they remedy this problem asap before an accident occurs due to this problem. Thank you

Car shut down in the middle of the highway at around 30 mph. While using the adaptive cruise control, i stepped on the gas to accelerate. The car then shut down and many warning lights came on. The car did not respond to restarting, shifting or anything. Screen just said charge fault error.

1st Jeep recall. Data update completed. Next day engine light. 2 weeks for first appointment. 3 weeks to get next appointment. After recall next day engine light heater codes. PCM replaced. Vehicle went Totally dead. New 12volt battery. Still dead. Star Stellantis Technical Assistance Request #1 Technicians from Michigan came and reprogrammed vehicle. Star #2 engine light heater codes still. A new recall for heater pump out for Jeep 4xe. My Vin # not included. Took possession June or July 2021. Current 3450. Miles. Jeep 4xe Hybrid unlimited. Vehicle has been @ dealership since February 2023. Here it is May 2023. I've talked with customer care. Still no parts. Still no work on vehicle. Told by dealership it needs heater pump and a battery heater warmer. No charging issue ever with plug in. Recall was for Stalling. Getting the big run around. Vehicle sat in garage for about a month or so. Then recall. On return to dealership , it crapped out in front of dealership. They had to clear all the codes to get it in service. So now into 5th month without vehicle. Recall goofed up my vehicle. Or it was already like that waiting to happen. Reliability ? Not ready as it is. It's just continues to sit @ dealership. ?

Same issue as the last time, and the time before that. Very dangerous, battery completely fails. The instrument meters are wrong and it shows that there is gas when there is really not any gas. Also more recently, we were driving on the highway in the express lane in the car just suddenly came to a stop. We could have died - luckily there was no one behind us. I managed to get the car over partially into the other lane so people could go around. The car had to be towed and I’m done paying for this.

My Jeep was brought to Carl Burger Jeep because the check engine light stays on all the time. The dealership performed several software updates. The Check Engine light still stays on and has been on every since. About two months now. It was discovered that there is a part required for the EV battery that is not available due to back order. The service dept. said it was safe to drive. How do they know that? There has been a case opened up and a person assigned to my case. Who knows what that means. All I know is I'm very uncomfortable driving around with the Check Engine light on 100% of the time, especially with the size of that battery sitting right in back of me. I was told by the service dept. that they do not have an ETA for the back-ordered part. Nor have I received any updates on Please give me your recommendation on what to do. 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe has now lost total power twice and had extreme 'Death Wobble' issues. In 08/2021, at approx 1,400 miles, the vehicle lost all power and control on the highway while going speed limit at 70 mph. The screen reported issue with electronic stability control system. It was a dangerous situation trying to move to the side of the highway with no power nor power steering. Once on the side, multiple warning lights were on and vehicle would not start but control lights remained on. I called the dealership/service department of South Point Dodge and their recommendation was to disconnect the battery connection to reset. I was driving from Houston so I was desperate to get the car to start as my family was waiting outside of the car on the highway as well. I reconnected battery terminal and was able to restart the vehicle. At around 12k miles, I started experiencing extreme Jeep Wobble aka 'Death Wobble.' This occurred often while doing speed limit between 55-65 mph/higher on the highway and if vehicle hit a bump. The only way to stop the shaking was to slow down by braking to approximately 35-40 mph. In 02/2023, dealer changed out the 'dampners' and did update for electrical recall. On 03/14/2023, at approx 23k miles, the vehicle again lost complete power, would not restart and multiple warning lights came on. Control panel reported Electronic Stability Control Issue, Fuel Door Open when it physically was not, Vehicle in Drive while physically in park. Vehicle would not restart. Disconnected the battery terminal but this did not correct the issue. Vehicle was manually put into neutral to put onto tow truck. This vehicle has caused several life threatening concerns. Despite the recall fixes, the same issues continue to be present and long term solution is not available at this time. Had I known this Jeep would have such a dangerous electrical system that cannot be fixed, I wouldn't have purchased such an expensive, dangerous, worthless car.

On multiple occasions, i have gone to start my Jeep and not been able to turn it on. It will then lock in an "on" position where the engine will not run or shut off. Has had to be towed twice and Chrystler is not helping. I am not being told anything other than they do not know what is going on, but say it happens to a lot of these cars.

Feb 28, 2023

I was notified of recall ZB7 affecting my 2021 JEEP Wrangler 4xE by phone on February 3, 2023. During this call I made an appointment with JEEP for the issue to be fixed on February 24, 2023. On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, two days before my scheduled appointment, the engine of my Jeep failed ~6PM while I was driving on highway 495S near Merrimac, MA (mile 114.8). I was in the far left lane traveling at about 70 mph and lost all power steering, power brakes, everything. The engine completely lost power without warning. No messages, warning lights or other signs of any issue before a total loss of power. Thankfully, I was able to drift from the left lane, crossing 2 lanes of traffic on a busy highway, to reach the shoulder on the other side of the highway. I did this in the dark without without power brakes and without power steering. I was with my 2 year old son and am grateful that we are both still alive. A loss of engine power at that speed on a busy highway could easily have caused an accident, perhaps fatal for ourselves or others. After 2 hours stranded on the shoulder of the road, the Jeep was towed by AAA to the Jeep dealership nearest to where I lost power, Bill Deluca Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Haverhill, MA. It has been sitting in the parking lot of that dealership now for 6 days and they claim to be too busy to investigate the issue or perform a recall fix. The service repair shop at this dealership has been wholly uncooperative and unhelpful. I have called the manufacturer and am currently awaiting a service appointment at another Jeep dealership. According to Jeep/Chrysler, I am responsible for the out of pocket cost of the tow from the Jeep dealership in Haverhill to the Jeep dealership in Lynnfield. This seems absurd as the faulty vehicle is the reason I am unable to drive it from one dealership to the next. In the meantime, I have now been renting a car for 6 days, paying out of pocket.

The vehicle shut down on its own while driving. All warning lights were displayed. Vehicle was unresponsive and caused a crash. Vehicle is at dealer. I filed a complaint with FCA.

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe died while driving down the road. Luckily I was able to coast to the side and cycle the engine off/on in order to regain power. This was the exact same issue that is described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V865000, however, this time (2/3/23) was after the ZB7 recall was completed. Even after the recall work was completed and Jeep told me the vehicle was safe to drive, it still failed in the exact same manner. The recall procedure did not work and this vehicle is not safe to drive. Additionally, during the period after the recall was completed and before it died again while driving, the battery range has decreased dramatically (less than 50% of what it was prior to the recall work).

The vehicle's engine will randomly shut off and not turn back on. It has been to dealerships over 10 times for the same issue. They all attribute it to the start/stop battery, but it happens even when that feature is turned off. The vehicle's engine will shut off while driving and you cannot shift it into park. The only warning is a check engine light and "service auto start/stop system". There is no warning before the vehicle does it, and I have broken down in intersections, highways, and other dangerous locations. The vehicle duplicated the issue on the dealers lot, but they claim " no codes, no repair".

Driving at highway speeds in Idaho on a road-trip from California. Vehicle suddenly shuts down with warning lights saying to put in park. Very dangerous as there is little to no shoulder on this stretch of highway. Cars had to swerve around the vehicle as it rapidly lost speed. Check engine light is now on. No warning lights prior to sudden shut down.

Oct 17, 2022

The incident occurred when I attempted to shift the transfer case into 4-Low. The sequence of events is as follows: 1. I stopped the vehicle and shifted into Park. 2. With my foot on the brake, I shifted into neutral and attempted to move the transfer case lever from 4-High, to 4-Low. 3. As I started to move the transfer case lever, a warning appeared in the instrument cluster stating, "Vehicle speed too high to shift". 4. Auto-Park engaged 5. The engine, uncommanded, with my foot still on the brake, began to increase in revs slowly. 6. Check engine light illuminated, the engine continues to increase in revs. 7. When the engine reached 6-7k RPM, I hit the engine start/stop button and held it down until the engine turned off. The engine was still climbing in revs until this point. 8. I restarted the engine and could shift into 4-Low successfully. "Off-road cruise control disabled" warning light illuminated and remained on until I shifted back into 4-High. Check engine light remains on after multiple starts.

I was driving on the expressway when the engine suddenly slowed the car, I lost all ability to use the gas pedal. The deal found metal shavings in the engine leading to the engine being replaced. Prior to this I had several check engine lights that when the dealer looked at the vehicle, they simply reset them and told me all was ok. I lost all power on the expressway- all passengers in the car felt it and were terrified. In a separate incident also on the expressway I experienced a violent wobble and rattle of the entire car including the steering- I have a video of this as my daughter happened to catch it. It felt very dangerous and I had to slow to stop it. It happens when I hit a bump. This is a new vehicle with less than 10 K miles.

Vehicle loses power without warning. This has occurred numerous times, twice on a crowded freeway when I had to navigate across 5 lanes of traffic. Dealer was unable to isolate and repair the problem the first time. Vehicle is in for repair again. An internet search indicates this is not uncommon and at least two class action suits are pending. I'm shocked this life threatening fault has not already been reported to the NHTSA. Repair codes are : P1E1D control module improper wake up performance, U1817 Lost communication with hybrid powertrain control module on D-PT, U0293 confirmed, lost communication with hybrid control module.

i was. driving on the FWY, when I pass the bridge, there is a small rupper bump. the car starts shaking vertically and starts to slow down in the middle of the Fwy. I try to speed up to pull over to the right, but no response, where I felt the gas peddle is not working at that moment. I was lucky there were not too many cars behind me on the Fwy. I went to the dealer and they say something about, dead throttle.

Sep 9, 2022 Crash

I pulled my Jeep into my driveway. I put the car in park with my foot on the brake. When I went to turn the car off, I heard a loud sound coming from the car. the car jerked forward, my foot still on the brake, and then it took off into the side of my house and garage. I tried to stop the car with the brakes and it wouldn't stop. After it hit the house, I looked down and the car was still in park. I had to restart the car as it shut off after hitting the house, I put the car in reverse and backed it up. When I put it back in drive the car wouldn't move. Only reverse worked. After an hour the car started working in drive. I had the car towed to the dealership. They told me that there were no error codes and that the care is fine. I now have zero confidence in this car. This is my fourth Jeep Wrangler and I never experienced anything like this. Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue?

Aug 19, 2022

I was driving home from a trip to the store. I stopped at a red light and all of the sudden I got a message that traction control failed, service charging system, and power train failure occurred. I had no power to move the car and the brakes barely worked. It told me to put it in park and restart the Jeep. I was able to roll downhill to the median out of traffic and put it in park and restart it. It seemed to work normally until I went another mile or so and it happened again. This time I was in motion and had a very difficult time stopping in the middle of traffic to put the Jeep in park and restart. This is a VERY serious problem and I’m very lucky it didn’t happen on the interstate. I am a member of two Jeep 4xe groups on Facebook and this is a reoccurring issue that is extremely dangerous.

Aug 16, 2022

While driving on the freeway at about 70mph, my vehicle shut off completely and I had to pull over to the shoulder. While pulled over I was unable to restart the vehicle for about 45 minutes. Vehicle dash displayed “Service Transmission, E-Drive Unavailable, Charge system fault.”

Went on a 1600 mile round trip from Florida to Pennsylvania. On the way back down to Florida my upper coolant hose busted and stranded me in South Carolina, 300 miles from Florida. Was on the side of the interstate with less than 20k miles on a new jeep. Thankfully no fire or anything started and the engine was close to blowing up. Only took about 45 seconds for the engine to over heat once the hose busted and I pulled over.

Jul 29, 2022

When starting the vehicle after sitting for an hour, there was a strong smell of a sweet substance and the cooling fans were running at full speed while stationary. Approximately 3 minutes later the vehicle stated the engine coolant temperature was 280 degrees Fahrenheit and to pull over. After pulling over and shutting off the vehicle on the side of the road, driver noticed a large puddle forming under the vehicle of pink color and was dripping from the front drivers side of the engine, at the water pump and coolant reservoir was empty. Vehicle was towed by Jeep roadside to nearest dealer who cant look at for a week.

While driving the jeep it gets a error code that says Service Electric throttle body. I’ve owned the car for about 20 months. This is the fourth time this issue has happened. Seems to happen every 5 months or so. The first time they replaced the throttle body. Second time they replaced it again and had it back for one day and the issue popped up again. They then said they would replace it but it had to be something else since it was a brand new throttle body. They ended up replacing the PCM and I was without the Jeep for an entire month. This time I went in and they said it wasn’t the throttle body. So they cleared the codes and I went to pick it up, when I turned it on it tells me to service electric throttle body. I couldn’t even make it out of the dealership parking lot. When this issue happens. No matter what speed you are at it literally decreases your speed to 15MPH. Luckily I have never been on the highway when said issue has happened. It is a serious safety concern. This last time I had my two children in the car with me, my 2 year old daughter and my 1 year old son. I do not feel safe, or that this car is reliable. I have been reading forums about this said issue and I am not the only one having them. That is where I got the information to come here. I hope it is something you can look into. It isn’t a good feeling to buy a brand new car and not feel like it is reliable or safe especially with your small children in the car. Thank you for your time.

While driving my vehicle and going about 30-40mph, the dashboard began flashing and telling me there was a charging system failure. At that point I could no longer accelerate and the "D" light on the gear shift was blinking. After putting the car in park, it would not allow me to change the shift gear to a different position. The Jeep app on my phone alerted me that my vehicle could not charge which was strange because I was driving and not charging at all. I had to pull over in the middle of a very busy intersection and turn off my car and turn it back on just to get it going again. When I turned it on, everything was back to normal and I was able to drive. This is very dangerous and luckily I was not on the highway and going 60mph when this happened or it could have been catastrophic.

Brand new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4xE (purchased 02/03/22 for $57,295) with 1,300 miles on it shut down while traveling at full highway speed (75 mph) on a major highway in the San Francisco Bay Area. The system flashed a 'stabilizer system' warning and immediately lost speed and did not respond to pressure on the gas/e pedal. We turned on the hazards and coasted across several lanes of traffic to the shoulder. After restarting, the dash displayed a check engine light the remainder of the trip, and the engine cut out one more time on the way home in a much slower safer area, thankfully. This is the second similar/major issue with this vehicle. On March 10, 2022, with only 419 miles on it, the vehicle displayed a charging error message at attempted start, provided no power to the engine, and locked itself in 'Park.' Fortunately, this engine power failure and subsequent shutdown occurred in our driveway rather than at highway speed. The vehicle was at Jeep dealership service from 03/11/22 to 04/04/22 and the issue was escalated to Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep engineers. Jeep engineers recommended six separate updates, none of which were successful. Ultimately, a part was taken from the Jeep assembly line and shipped to the dealership for use in my vehicle. The car rental fees related to this incident, which I'm yet to be reimbursed for, were $6,900 for a similar but older base model vehicle.

A coolant fitting came loose from the engine block, spewing coolant and steam from the engine bay and partially obstructing vision through windshield. After researching online I see this is a very common issue on 2018-2022 Jeep Wranglers.

Subject: 2021 Wrangler Unlimited (3.6L) Automatic with manufacturing defects. I am writing this email to complain about my 2021 Wrangler Unlimited (3.6L) Automatic that I Purchased on 28 November 2021 from Trading Enterprises company LLC Al-Futtaim group(sales Office Dubai UAE-DFC). Unfortunately, The Jeep’s problem started on day one drive-by suspecting strange noises coming from the Engine’s side. I requested an appointment at Trading Enterprises Dubai, and the Service Advisor told me the sound is normal (it's a new car, and the noise will go after some time). In January 2022 I went on a mountain camping trip with my small family in Fujairah city and suddenly the car’s power was cut completely on a steep mountain(Have shared the videos with the TE team showing the front wheels are not spinning). The car was about to roll over and I was embarrassed, frightened, and worried about my family’s safety. I managed to get my family safe out of the car and, with the help of friends, I took the car to a safer place. On 29/1/2022 (TE Walk Around Inspection) after the test drives, the TE team requested to keep the car for proper checking and after a few days, the Service Advisor informed me that it was a problem with the 4W system, especially considering that 4L was not engaged due to a wiring problem and they had to rectify the issue, I swallow it with pain. The car is sluggish when accelerating in the first gear and misfires when I depress the gas pedal, I was on a construction site where they have a ramp and suddenly a big truck shows up and so I needed acceleration from the car but it doesn’t respond. The gas pedal was to the maximum and it still doesn’t work, it was a huge close call as I nearly crashed into a truck. On 13/4/2022 I experienced the same issue on the sand and the highway with extra problems and decided to visit the TE as I can't take this anymore, TE team requested to keep the car to check the issues. 8 weeks now and the car is still with the dealer

We had just reached highway speed of 70mph and the Jeep began a normal regen cycle. However, the engine revved up on it’s own and the check engine light came on and a message that stated the exhaust filter was 100% full see a servicing dealer. Then without any warning, the Jeep went into limp mode from 70mph-50mph. With no notice, we were thrown forward due to the sudden decrease in speed. This action caused the vehicles behind us to swerve to avoid collision. My adaptive cruise control shut itself off and the electronic throttle control warning light started flashing. My throttle control was weak and unreliable, taking a lot of pedal to respond and then not needing hardly any pedal and would surge forward with sudden speed. It was a very dangerous situation. We continued driving in limp mode as there were no safe locations to stop and we didn’t have any cell service. Both malfunction lights remained on and we drove straight to our dealer. They said the EGR cooler failed and clogged up all of the EGR system with soot and then burned out the catalytic converter. They were able to clear the soot out of the system and cleared the malfunction lights so we could drive it home as they didn't have any loaners to offer us. The service advisor told us if we had another vehicle we should park the Jeep and not drive it until the parts come in. They have no ETA on either the EGR cooler nor the catalytic converter. I have been in contact with the manufacturer and there has been no progress on sourcing parts, I am looking in to pursuing a lemon law claim as this vehicle is not compliant with any emissions standards and if not repaired will injure us and others. It is available for inspection with notice, as it is parked at my house I would prefer advanced notice of any inspectors arrival. The warning lights are no longer on, but it sounds and runs like crap and even if the parts are replaced I will always worry that it will do it again. We could have been killed.

Cylinder head failure caused engine to leak engine oil. Ultimately FCA was able to repair the defective upon replacing a cylinder and head gasket multiple times. The true cause of the leak was never determined as the replaced head did not appear defective. This is being reported to NHTSA due to numerous defects and safety concerns that have arisen with this vehicle.

Red Turtle warning light appears and the vehicle slows down immediately to 5~8 mph. Happens without warning and apparent triggers. Occurred multiple times in last week on freeways, exiting parking lot and on side road.

I bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe in July 2021. Starting in December of 2021 and continuing to this day I will periodically get an error message that says "Service Hybrid Electrical System" and the car will either not start or shut off while it is in motion. I have contacted Jeep Cares and have been elevated to their customer retention group to continue to try to solve this issue. The dealer has been great at trying to fix the issue but they have admitted that they don't know what it is or how to fix it and are relying on the national Jeep engineers to help try to fix it. Talking with the mechanics at the dealer they keep saying the national Jeep engineers are just guessing at this point on what the issue is and they don't know what the issue is either. I am far from the only one that is having this issue. If you search any Jeep forum you will find countless other owners with the same issue, https://www.4xeforums.com/search/37154/?q=service+hybrid+electrical+system The underlying issue with the Jeep 4xe's is a huge public safety issue. This is due to the fact that the Jeep 4xe will randomly turn off while driving, such as driving down a highway going 60mph.

I was driving my car last night and it it just stopped on the 15 fwy, while everyone was driving 70 MPH. This car will kill me or kill others!!!! It’s unsafe!!!

Thank god it turned he Ck on and made it home. Now dealership is saying they can look at it within two to four weeks. This is a terrible.

2021 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE "JEEP WOBBLE'" THE CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE WOBBLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE; THEREFORE, ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER DEALERSHIP STATED THEY WOULD REPLACE THE DAMPNER, AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE, IN AN EFFORT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

After having possession of our Jeep Wrangler 4XE for less than 6 months we have had to bring it in for engine issues twice - on our second visit we were informed that it was likely unsafe to drive as they could not guarantee it would not stall out while being driven. After much research it was found that there has been litigation for this same issue in at least one other state with multiple plaintiffs where FCA settled and paid out a large sum to consumers. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle as multiple repairs have been necessary so far and there seems to be no guarantee that it will not happen in the future. A car stalling (this has been reported at as high as 70 miles per hour) during operation is a safety concern for myself and of all others driving on the road. We were informed that this could happen anytime after the check engine light illuminates, or as it turns on in many cases. The fact that there has not been a large scale recall, and that we were not informed of the issue when obtaining the vehicle is a huge safety hazard.

Jan 31, 2022

Yesterday, for the second time, the car shutdown while I was driving. I was on the road, close to 60 mph and the car turned the engines off. It shut down and the "D" light on the gear shift was blinking. I had to quickly try to get to the right lane, without any engine. After 3 tentatives, when I turned it back on, the engine light was on.

Jan 21, 2022

I have no technical no-how with cars so I will describe as best I can. We have a brand new 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe--bought it one month ago--and two weeks in, while driving, the check engine light came on. We were out of town so called the local dealer but they could not see us for three weeks. So we researched the issue and thought it could be a loose gas cap etc. We did some trouble shooting but nothing changed. Then, while driving, the entire dash lit up with various warnings, including the hybrid warning, and it just shut down. We were next to a parking lot and coasted in. Through a series of actions we were able to get it driving again and made it to another dealership. When we arrived all signals were gone and they could find no trouble codes to check. We were able to drive back home and we thought maybe it was the loose gas cap issue. We would have taken it into the dealership as a precaution, but service appts are weeks out. And it drove fine for several days. Then our daughter was driving it on an extremely busy and dangerous road. Luckily she'd just turned off it into our neighborhood--but she was still driving at a decent speed--and all of a sudden all the warning lights came on again, including the hybrid signal, and the car completely shut down on her. Stopped mid-drive and mid-road. We now have had it towed to the dealership. We have also read all the similar stories now with Jeep 4xes and have serious concerns about the extent of this issue and thus the safety of the vehicle. The dealership can't look at it for weeks, but we have already contacted sales to see what they can do. I feel like it could take months to work out what is happening here--especially with service backups--and I do not feel safe with any of our family members doing a back and forth on this until we find out that a serious recall in underway.

Jan 4, 2022

While driving a vehicle swerved into my lane, to avoid hitting them I tapped my brakes, upon tapping my breaks the Jeep lost propulsion and it felt as though my brakes lost power as well. I had to coast into a parking lot where I didn’t even make it to a spot and had to be towed to the dealer. The Jeep would no longer start and gave a “service charging system” message. Upon inspection the dealer stated that Chrysler immediately shipped a power inverter module (pim) upon my Jeep being entered into the system. Since my issue, I have seen 3 other 4XE Jeeps pulled over and broken down in precarious positions. This is what prompted me to file this report, as I believe this may be an issue related to other 4XE Jeeps and if this is the case, it is only a matter of time before an accident that causes loss of life because of how severe and sudden the issue is. Thanks for looking out for our well being and everything y’all do at the NHTSA.

Driving on highway at posted speed of 70 mph in state of Michigan and jeep quit running I had 3/4 tank of fuel and 37% battery power remaining got it restarted made it to a gas station shut off jeep filled with gas and jeep wouldn’t come back online said charging port malfunction so I open charge door and didn’t see any thing in the removed negative side of 12 volt battery underneath the hood waited for 3 mins reinstalled battery terminal and was able to get it started but the temp controls only work on extreme hot or extreme cold no in between drove back home approximately 150 with check engine light on after several power down and restart the check engine light went away and all went back to normal again

Jeep wrangler Sahara 2021 4xe is brand new leased and driven off the lot the previous day with 35 miles on the car and one full charge overnight. Car was going down a hill with Max Regeneration engaged. It lost power and said place in Park. It states service charging system and there is an engine fault and the car will not start will not go into neutral to move to a safe location and it stuck in the center of a busy road placing myself the driver at extreme risk.

Dec 10, 2021

While driving approximately 35 miles an hour while on E save with max regeneration enabled, the car cut all power, RPM went to zero, service charging system error displayed on dash. Once able to get car off of Road, was able to restart. The Uconnect app does show a charging system fault, once plugged in charging system does charge, per dealer new error codes report to substantiate failure of power.

Dec 9, 2021

Vehicle was purchased on 5/22/2021 from dealer as new vehicle purchases (lease). On 5/23 less than 24 hours after delivery with 76 miles on the ODO, I got a (CEL) and numerous errors (service hybrid electrical vehicle system, service 4wheel drive system, vehicle charge fault with a red charge cord light indicator). Vehicle was returned to dealer on Monday morning with notice of issues. They diagnosed the vehicle for 1 day and returned it to me to continue to drive while they ordered parts. Vehicle was diagnosed with a P0AA6-00 “Hybrid Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault.” Dealer stated vehicle was safe to drive and would contact when parts were received. On 6/08 vehicle was returned to service for incoming parts at 575 miles. Dealer stated FCA advised them to replace the Indicator lamp module but did not correct the issue and they could not return the vehicle to me as they stated "FCA said vehicle can not be placed back on road as it may catch fire or explode". Vehicle has been at the dealer with no return since 6/8/2021. They have changed 1 indicator lamp module, 2 battery heater/chiller modules, 3 PHEV main wire harnesses and have requested a 4th as they have not been able to make the previous 3 work/function. Vehicle has now been down 7months with now successful repair and parts not available until 1/02/2022 at the earliest. And vehicle now sits with 17 unresolved trouble codes.

Dec 3, 2021 Fire

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler with 1900 miles caught on fire and was a total loss, preliminary investigation believes the cause of the fire to be a gas leak. There were no indications or warning lights, saw black smoke coming from the engine compartment by the time I pulled over and got out of the vehicle it was on fire and within minutes the entire car was engulfed by flames and it was a total loss

Nov 16, 2021

I was driving normally along a busy road at 40mph. Suddenly, the car stalled and I could not accelerate. I coasted until it completely stopped in the middle of a busy road. I was unable to move the car, and instead had to put the car in park and turn off the engine. The "D" light on the gear shifter was blinking, and then the battery on the car went from 55% charge down to 47% charge. A red lightning bolt emergency sign came on but then went off immediately after. With the car off in the middle of the road, I restarted it hoping for the best. Luckily, it did restart fine and I could continue driving. However, I have heard on Jeep 4xe forums that this is an issue with many other owners, some even happening on the interstates. I am now too afraid to drive this car with my child or for long distances, because this issue was completely spontaneous and unpredictable. I took it to the dealer to be serviced, but they are unsure what is going on. And as a side note, this is a brand new car (2021 year) with 105 miles. I only had it for FIVE days before this happened. Prior to this incident I also noticed that the charge would not hold very long at all - for example, driving it today 3.4 miles from one point to the dealer, the charge went from 47% to 17% - this should not be normal. Overall this issue is unacceptable and this needs to be addressed immediately before people die. Thanks for your consideration.

Nov 11, 2021

I left my daughters house with my jeep wrangler and as I shifted into forward gear there was no power on my wrangler 4XE hybrid. I move the vehicle to the side of the road and towed it to the dealers. After a little over two weeks they got it repaired. After that I have read reports of this kind of thing happening in traffic. When I lost power the engine light and stability control light came on. It is now repaired but I’m having second thoughts about the safety of the vehicle since I sometimes transport my grandchildren in the vehicle.

Nov 2, 2021

The two main wire harnesses are faulty. It would not charge or hold a charge. Driving it was dangerous and would stop drastically at any given random moment. A jerking motion would occur while driving. Lights on dash would come on, engine, charging fault station. Charging fault. And lightening bolt warning signs. Sometimes it would say don’t drive call for assistance. The dealership has had my vehicle since June 4 2021. The parts I’m told won’t be available until end of January 2022. I purchased the jeep on April 30th 2021. It’s very scary when you’re on the road, w my family and it decides to lock up or sounds like the transmission is falling from the under carriage. Luckily we weren’t rear ended or pushed through an intersection.

Oct 21, 2021

While towing a <3000 lb. trailer up a long grade (2.5 to 3 miles) on the interstate at the posted speed, warning messages were displayed on the dashboard approximately 2/3 of the way up the hill. “Service Electronic Throttle Control”, and Check Engine light displayed while the vehicle speed dropped dramatically from 70 mph to approximately 35. This same error occurred every time I tried ascending a long grade with the trailer (under load). Initially reduced speeds ( below the posted limit) did not change the outcome. Trying to use the optional manual shifting, did not change the outcome. Recreated initial problem following 1st dealership service for the events.

Oct 14, 2021 Fire

The engine caught on fire after a short drive. The fire burned the entire top of the rear of the engine and completely through the wiring harness before I could extinguish it with a fire extinguisher and water. The fire appears to have started at the top rear of the engine where the fuel line enters the intake. The manufacturer, Stellantis, hired a special investigator from EAA/Bosch to look at it, and he agrees that it is similar to fires in similar engines that were recalled in October 2020, NHTSA Campaign number 21V-665. Stellantis has not responded to repeated requests for resolution.

2021 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL TANK ISSUE. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO HADN'T DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AFTER 6 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAD 2,845 MILES.

After driving to my destination with 47% battery on the 4xe and full tank of gas. Turned the car to stop and got a service hybrid system malfunction. Tried to start up the car but the car wouldn't start. Had to get it towed to the dealership. The service tech told me that there is a isolation fault in the 17kwH battery and the entire shut down due to safety concerns.

Charging Fault Error came on as my wife was driving home when her 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE suddenly shut off and came to a immediate halt. She was barely able to prevent a major accident, which could've caused serious injury to herself and others on the road. Vehicle would not restart and was not even able to put the vehicle in neutral to push out of harm's way. The moment it happened I received a message on my Jeep UConnect app that a Charging Fault Error occurred. I didn't know what this meant, but about 60 seconds later my wife called me in distress and told me what happened. She was terrified couldn't even drive the rest of the way home and had to stand in 100F heat for an hour waiting for a tow truck. Result: The Jeep Wrangler 4XE is still in the shop (it's been in the dealership for over 3 weeks now, and we've owned it for 3 months and 3500 miles. They have no diagnosis and say they are still ordering parts. Asked 2x to speak with upper management at FCA and was told someone would call in 24 hours, it' been over 72 hours now. Included file of Jeep case number and Jeep 4XE forum with multiple chats on this same issue.

As I approached a stop sign while braking, the Jeep seized up, shut off, and gave the Electronic Stability Control warning. I attempted to restart and it didn’t start or get out of park. It then gave Blind Spot Monitoring System error and Service Charging System error. I’m grateful that I was at a stop sign unlike some of the other reports of this issue that were on the highway. It was quite a jolt when the vehicle seized. The vehicle has been at the dealership since 8/24. It was thought the hybrid battery needed replacement. A new one gave the same errors to the service team. The vehicle remains with the service department awaiting another battery.

The vehicle all of a sudden shut down and the charging system alert came on and said service charging system - this was while starting to merge off 131 north at the Saginaw exit. I coasted to the side of the road put it in park I attempted to start again and at first there was nothing Then I did it again and it started I did not see the charging error but it went into my log. I drove home. When I got home I tried plugging it in and it blew every breaker I tried plugging into. Called dealership and there it sits. They have no idea.

While driving on 131 northbound just before the Saginaw croton exit my Jeep lost power I was in the left lane had to merge across to the right to exit and all the lights were on noting charging system needs service I got off highway onto ramp and coasted to side of ramp and realized it was not even on anymore. I immediately shut it off checked my uconnect app for a service warning and it said charging system failure all the lights on the dash were alerting me until it shut down I sat for a bit and tried to start it and it did but was jerky when attempting to drive. I switched to esave and the engine kicked in but was also doggy. I had 60% battery so I’m not sure what happened. I attempted to plug in when I got home and it blew breakers anywhere I attempted to plug it in and made a very loud pop! I didn’t try it anymore at home as it scared me. Contacted the dealer and two weeks later it’s at the shop. They have no idea what is going on - it’s acting up but now doesn’t even put the info into the log according to my service technician at the dealer. They are waiting on Chrysler engineers to get back to them with what to do.

The car flashed a red icon and displayed a message saying power was lost and telling us to pull over safely and put the car on park. We were in the middle lane on the New Jersey Turnpike and people were driving around us at 80mph, and the car would not accelerate. We were able to pull over and restart the car and it worked as if nothing happened. I got an email on the UConnect system saying there was a charging issue, and then a second email saying I should get the car serviced. I took it to the dealership this morning and am waiting on a diagnosis.

Engine began leaking diesel fuel and smoking from the fuel hitting hot components. Possible fire could have occurred. So much diesel that it coated the trailer I was towing.

While driving the Jeep on the freeway, it shut off out of nowhere and came to a very quick halt. It nearly caused a major accident on the freeway. A few moments after the Jeep encountered this issue and shut off, I received a message on mu UConnect app saying that there was a Charging Fault Error. The incident has been reported multiple times online in Jeep forums for the new 2021 Jeep 4xe. Many people have reported that the Jeep shut off while driving at high speeds on the freeway, and the vehicle comes to a sudden and dangerous stop. This is what happened to me.

This vehicle is a plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler. On July 31, 2021 while returning home from vacation and driving at highway speeds (65mph +/-), the powertrain of the vehicle completely failed. The screen flashed that there was an electrical system malfunction and to pull over. The vehicle was very difficult to control as I had to travel across three lanes of high-speed traffic to get to an exit ramp. Fortunately, we made it safely to the exit ramp, where the vehicle completely shut down. This was the second time this happened. While driving to vacation on July 22, 2021, a similar incident occurred. The first incident, however, was not a complete failure. The vehicle's screen flashed that there was an electrical problem, but the vehicle did not completely stall. After pulling over, the vehicle restarted. At that time, I scheduled an appointment with the Jeep dealership to investigate the issue. That appointment was scheduled for August 1, 2021 (the day after the catastrophic failure).

I was driving vehicle on HWY 610 in Houston, Texas at approximately 55-60 MPH. Suddenly, vehicle simply stopped working in the middle of driving. Everything on my dash was reading zero. Car were swearing to avoid hitting me. I also had a baby in the backseat of my vehicle. Suddenly, the dash started to read place car in park, Service Charging System. The P at my gear shift was flashing rapidly. I was able to slowly and dangerously coast to the emergency lane. Where I was able to turn the vehicle off. This is a very dangerous situation. At this point, Jeep has no idea what the problem is an this is very frustrating.

I was driving at night on a 4-lane highway at approximately 55 mph southbound in the left lane. My hybrid vehicle had less than 1% of battery power and was running using the gas engine. With no warning the vehicle suddenly experienced a sudden deceleration to less than 10 mph then a warning light came on stating "service charging system- place vehicle in P and start engine. Fortunately there were no vehicles in close proximity either in front, behind, or in the lane to my right, so I was able to make it over to the shoulder before it came to a complete stop. At that point I received an alert from my UCONNECT app that stated "Your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was unable to charge." It also stated to "Get service immediately." I placed the vehicle in park and attempted to start the engine with no response. I repeated the procedure and the engine started after which I was able to drive home. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer the next morning where, after two days, the dealer returned the vehicle and told me they could find nothing wrong. no codes in the computer, and no information from Jeep on any similar problems, despite getting the aforementioned alert received from the UCONNECT app. My main concern is that this type failure, the sudden engine failure/deceleration with no warning either inside or outside (brake lights), especially at night, can easily result an accident. I was very fortunate that I was on a highway with other cars near me. A crowded street, highway, or freeway would be a totally different story.

The vehicle gave a Service Hybrid Electric System error and disabled the engine at approximately 60 mph when traveling in E-Save mode, with <1% battery, and half a tank of gasoline. After navigating the vehicle to the side of the road, it came to a hard stop at about 5-8 mph. After 10 minutes, the vehicle restarted in Hybrid mode as was able to operate without error until reaching our destination. Weather conditions were clear at 85 degrees. Issues occurred on a two-lane byway. No injuries, other damage, or police reports at this time. The vehicle will be delivered for service for recreation and diagnosis of the issue. Issue occurred with approximately 246 miles, direct from the dealership upon delivery. The vehicle has no aftermarket accessories.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 41 mph, the hybrid mode failed to let the engine operate and the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the power steering also ceased. The vehicle was restarted later under E-save mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic failed to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where it was partially diagnosed that the Transmission Control Module was disabled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 940.

The actual malfunctioning issue is UNKNOWN. However, my best explanation is as follows: While driving my new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (which only has 1400 miles), on the highway at roughly 70 miles per hour and going up a hill, the vehicle felt as if it were trying to up-shift a gear but then immediately down-shift a gear. This up-shift and down-shift feeling continued in quick repetition over and over in a violent shaking manner that thrust the entire vehicle forwards and backwards as long as I continued the acceleration up the hill. Letting off the accelerator seemed to end the violent shaking. I pulled over on to the side of the highway to stop, and turned off the Jeep since the check engine light came on. I waited about five minutes and started up the Jeep again. The check engine light was still on, though. Any acceleration at any speed now causes the Jeep to violently thrust forwards and backwards like I experienced on the highway. I tried to get Jeep Roadside to tow the Jeep to a dealership, but learned how worthless this Jeep Roadside program truly was. Several days after this incident, and I still do not have my Jeep at a dealership for repairs, nor do I have a rental. Jeep Roadside refuses to tow my Jeep to a dealership that has a rental, and I cannot afford to pay the towing fee's to get to a dealership with a rental. The nearest dealerships tell me they are six to eight weeks out on loaner vehicles. I'm too worried to try and driving my Jeep the distance to reach a dealership with a rental, cause it is way too unsafe to operate this Jeep with the violent shaking. I'm curious if anyone else is having this same issue, or knows more.

It's over heating while drive at has 12000 miles on it and getting over 250 degrees derating and dash lights came on flashing red saying over heating to hot air shut off going 60 miles an hour. Had to pull off road because it had no gas pedal with cars behind me almost getting hit.

A charging system error caused engine to shut down. I was driving down the road at about 30-40 mph and the vehicle just shut down. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic. A red plug appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle started back up after several attempts to restart it. The red plug disappeared. I was able to drive the rest of the way home with no issues (about 1 mile). When the vehicle stopped it was in electric mode, had about 50% battery left, and had slightly less than a quarter tank of gas. I called dealer and made a service appointment for today. The vehicle was at the service department for about 3 weeks previously for the service light being on. We picked up the vehicle 2 weeks ago and the issue was not resolved. We had been texting with the service advisor about it while it was there and as soon as we picked it up and noticed the service light was still on he quit responding to us and would not get back with us.

While driving on a one way high way. Was about to overtake a semi truck. While half way on the opposite lane doing a legal overtake my acceleration decreased significantly, nearly causing my passengers and I to get into a head on collision with the another vehicle. All of this was due to the fact that the Jeep’s acceleration was decreased. The following warning appeared and code was registered: Check engine light code P00AF Service Electric Throttle Control stop/start unavailable Service stop start system Acceleration issues after shutting down my engine all the codes disappear and vehicle precedes to normal driving. I am extremely worried that this might happen again and pace me and my loved ones in a dangerous situation as well as other people on the road

The engine has a manufacture machining defect causing the engine to lose oil. This component has been inspected my an authorized dealer and has spent 4 weeks in the service department trying to be repaired. Manufacture has asked dealership to modify the engine block by grinding down the engine and placing a new seal. The dealership is an agreement this is a temporary fix to a larger problem of poor manufacturing by FCA suppliers. The loss of oil can lead to unknown catastrophic engine failure, including on major highway posing a saftey risk.

We were on the way to drop our kids off at school when the car gave us a bunch of errors (see pictures). Once we got out of the driveway, the Jeep would not go faster than 5mph. It was towed to the dealer on May 4 and has been there ever since. I have been given conflicting information on what is wrong with it from the dealership and the manufacturer. No ETA on fix.

VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONLY AFTER 300 MILES. DEALER DIAGOSED THE PROBLEM WITH O2 SENSOR FAILURE AND VALVE COVER DEFECT. THE VEHICLE RAN VERY ROUGH AND FELT LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. SEARCH ON JLWRANGLERFORUMS SHOWS THERE ARE OTHERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.
