The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the transmission failed to properly engage. The contact was able to move the gear shift lever from park(P) to reverse(R), however, the transmission failed to respond as intended. The gear indicator flashed on the instrument panel. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle, and the transmission responded as needed. The contact stated that on other occasions, after the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The message “Service Transmission” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialty shop, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P0733 was retrieved. The contact was informed that the failure was with the third gear in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-009-25. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for an inspection, and depending on the findings, the manufacturer might assist with the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My Jeep Wrangler 4xe displayed a ‘Service Charging System’ warning immediately after unplugging from charging. I began to drive and noticed the warning right away. I then parked and attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start and became completely inoperable. The vehicle had to be towed. The dealer confirmed this issue is related to the current hybrid safety recall, but Stellantis has stated that no repair is available, and it may not be available until the end of the year or the first quarter of next year. The vehicle is undrivable, and I cannot safely use or move it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to pay for a rental vehicle upfront. Reimbursement for what could be an unlimited or months-long period of rental fees is not a reasonable or accessible remedy. This leaves me without any safe or practical transportation option. I have now been without transportation for over 48 hours, and the manufacturer is not providing a reasonable remedy or safe transportation while the recall repair remains unavailable. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can document the delay, the lack of an accessible remedy, and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a safe, timely solution for an undrivable recall-affected vehicle. Over the last 45 days, my Jeep has suffered repeated breakdowns that required towing to the Jeep dealership—It is now the fourth tow in this short window for the same issue. On November 10th, I was informed it was a wiring harness issue. On November 17th, they completed the work with the wiring harness and mentioned that now shifter assembly now has internal failure. Respectfully, this situation is unacceptable. Particularly for a critical component that renders the vehicle inoperable and raises significant safety concerns. This issue is especially troubling given that I have young children and rely on this vehicle for our daily transportation, and has stopped me in the middle of the road multiple times. Timeline: October 7th, 2025: Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle disabled on road; Towed to my home October 8th, 2025: Second Service Electronic Stability Control signal- Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealer October 9th, 2025: Third Service Electronic Stability Control signal pops up and disappears. October 15th, 2025: Fourth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealership November 8th, 2025: Fifth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle picked up by Jeep Dealership November 17th 2025: Notified by the service advisor that Service Shifter came on after completing work with the wiring harness. This is a huge safety concern that needs immediate investigation, and the manufacture needs to be help liable for these rescue ring issues.

Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. After stopping the car and shutting it off it will not restart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "Service Transmission Continue in D - Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132.

At highway speeds my vehicle surges fairly violently, creating a safety hazard and limiting movement in traffic. Talk to the JEEP corporate office and they said there’s a number of technical service bulletins on this issue, but there’s not been enough to calls a recall, but they did state. It was a known issue. This is very dangerous..

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the Death Wobble while driving on two occasions. The contact also stated that the vehicle was difficult to start and would start after being jump-started. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal burning plastic odor coming from the clutch intermittently while driving and shifting into gear. The contact stated that while driving 40-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The message "Stop Safely - Vehicle will shut down in 30 Seconds" was displayed. The contact stated that while attempting to pull over to the side of the road, the vehicle hit the guard rail on the side of the road and bounced back, causing the rear end of the vehicle to land on the right lane of the highway while the front end was on the side of the road. The contact was able to push the entire vehicle to the side of the road with the assistance of other drivers. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and assisted the contact in towing the vehicle to a parking lot. The vehicle was jump-started; however, the failure recurred while the contact was driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the battery and the auxiliary fuse were replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer then informed the contact that the vehicle had been repaired. The contact then inquired that the dealer perform the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train); however, the dealer informed the contact that the part had been ordered and would be available in two months. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

There’s seems to be an issue with these transmissions. They are leaking oil from the casing and could potentially run dry and have major transmission failure.

Mar 13, 2025

I brought my jeep in for the 95B recall this past December (12/17/24), it was fixed for about a week then problems with the electric system emerged and the vehicle would not run in electric mode. I also received messages saying that an oil change was required (despite having an oil change done in December), and that the battery needed to be charged for maintenance (despite the battery being fully charged the previous evening). I brought it back to dealer (2/3/25) to fix the issue. They said they fixed it and gave it back to me. A few days later the same problems reappeared so I brought it back on 2/22/25 and just received word that they cannot find a solution to the problems despite working with tech advisors from other dealerships and Stellantis. In short, I have had the same issues with the vehicle since about November, they have attempted to fix it 3 times and now are telling me that they do not have a fix for the problems. Please help!

This vehicle has been towed to the dealership 4 times for ongoing transmission errors and has caused the vehicle to shut off in traffic on 3 separate occasions, putting myself and those around me in immediate danger. The vehicle has actually rolled backwards in traffic on 1 occasion, without giving me the ability to stop it initially because the brakes and gear shift were locked up. The vehicle has also been repaired for a multicylinder engine failure early on as well. The vehicle is now showing issues with the battery wiring and has been repaired several times regarding this as well.

Cranked up Jeep and had no warning lights. Pulled onto highway, Electronic Stability Control alarm sounded. Made it to stop light, stopped, Jeep did not cut off but showed an alarm where it would not move until it was put in park then back in drive. This happened 4 times then stopped. I turned off of the highway onto a different road, got up to speed (approx 60mph) the ESC warning came back on and went off. Jeep did not cut off but it jerked a few times then the RPMs shot up to around 9 without me pressing the gas. I was able to pull over, cut it off and sit for a min. then I cranked it back up and it ran fine for about 5 miles then going about 60mph it lunged forward with no speed increase, RPMs shot up again and a Transmission code came up on the dash screen. I pulled over, my husband came and we put it on a trailer and carried it home. Ran diagnostics and changed both the main and auxiliary battery and it was fine for about a month. I went to run errands about a month later, got in and all the electrical would come on but it would not crank and all the gears on the shifter showed in orange and blinked instead of orange and white like normal. The electrical would not cut off without unhooking both batteries. Tested batteries, auxiliary was completely dead. Replaced it, Jeep still would not crank and the electrical stayed on unless the batteries were disconnected. Trailered it to the dealership, they did multiple tests to find out it was the TCM. First Incident occured 12/18/24, second incident occurred 1/17/24.

My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.

This recall has no resolution which is absolutely unacceptable. There is a fire risk for my primary vehicle, and I am unable to charge it - the entire reason I purchased this vehicle at a premium.

3 months after purchase. I Driving on highway 70mph, pressed clutch peddle as I was exiting and slowing down. clutch literally combusted (and fly wheel). Jeep was smoking and smelled like fire. Coasted to side of road and rolled into gas station: car wasn’t operable and had to be towed. Thankfully not a lot of traffic as this was a very UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER! Clutch and flywheel were replaced by dealer after a few weeks. No warning lights. I’ve since had TWO CLUTCHES RELACED. A TOTAL OF THREE! I have contacted chysler (denied my claim) and filed a complaint with the AG. I do NOT feel safe driving this vehicle, I have major anxiety when I am driving in Traffic because I get wanting to release the clutch peddle due to overheating. The jeep sits in the driveway whenever possible due to safety concerns. And I’m PAYING MONTHLY PAYMENTS. It’s frustrated and EXTREMELY UNSAFE!

Oct 22, 2024 Crash

I have a 2022 Wrangler 4xe. This weekend I rear ended a car in stop and go traffic. When I used the brake it actually felt like the car jumped forward a bit. I had to stomp on the brake pedal again as if my first attempt had no grab. More details...I was in hybrid mode with <1% battery status and max regen was on. I was going less than 10 miles an hour. Jeep has a max regeneration function that uses the engine to generate an EV battery recharge. I understand that the max regen sort of turns off when you are rolling at really low speeds, but it seems the transition to/from this is rough on the transmission or something. This only happens at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) This behavior happens intermittently but, this is the first time I was not able to stop completely before an impact occured.

Upon purchase of the Jeep, within 8K miles, the fuel pump went out and left me stranded. Now, at 27k miles, the car has been undriveable for 4 months. The engine will not accelerate, causing near collisions on highways. Over 13k in repairs are currently in place and there is still no resolution.

There was a prior recall where if there was discoloring or charring of the battery terminal a new battery was suppose to be installed. I reported this and showed the damage, and they just cleaned the terminals and sent me down the road. Now that these are burning houses down I would like to get out of this lease, its almost up anyway.

Vehicle has had multiple instances of lurching forward and/or not even moving when gas pedal is pressed. Several of these instances have occurred when coming to a stop or when trying to start from a stop. When the brake would be pressed the vehicle would jump forward. In one very memorable occurrence I was at a 4 way intersection coming to a stop and the vehicle lurched forward into the intersection almost hitting another vehicle. It also has issues when pressing the gas, you will give is gas and it won’t go anywhere and then all of a sudden lurch forward. We have several instances of a hard transmission shift where the vechile will “buck” and jar you into your seat. Vehicle has been to 3 dealerships, all state nothing is wrong, no codes were thrown.

The following is an excerpt of the original email I sent dealer on [XXX] one day after I purchased the vehicle: I spoke to **** yesterday and made him aware the transmission on my new/used Jeep Wrangler I just bought failed. I left your facility in the Bronx at 1:40 PM yesterday and was on the side of the [XXX] at approximately 3:30 PM in Dix Hills [XXX]. **** spoke to your Manager **** and recommended that I have it towed to the closest Jeep dealer. The Jeep is now at the Huntington Jeep service center in Commack at 5080 Jericho Turnpike. After waiting for a tow for almost two hours we arrived at Huntington Jeep. The service shop was closed for the day and I am without a car and have no loaner car. I expect Riverdale to have a loaner car in my driveway tomorrow morning. Attached is also the receipt from the tow I need to be reimbursed on. See also pictures of Jeep on flatbed tow truck. The fact of the matter is that I asked about the open clutch recall and was assured that your maintenance team went through the Jeep and took care of any open items. This was not true, as per the attached open recall I just found on the Mopar recall site. It clearly says this VIN# Jeep was not addressed and the exact description in the recall is what happened to me. The Jeep indeed smelled like it was going to go on fire. The fact that you guys sent me on my way with what could have been a very dangerous situation because you neglected to disclose the correct information on the recall. I could have been killed someone near my vehicle could have been killed, because I know for a fact something shot out of the transmission housing and the car behind me had to swerve out of the way. I fortunately was able to get to the side of the parkway safely. I still have no correspondence from either dealer regarding a fix/repair a week later and no loaner car or rental. Yesterday I gave Riverdale Chrysler Jeep the opportunity to reimburse me in full and I have no response. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOI

Less than a 6 months of having this brand new jeep, the Initial failure of transmission happened while driving down highway. Jeep smelled like it was on fire and I lost all acceleration. Th transmission literally fell into debris. I coasted off the highway and was able to make it into a parking lot, thankfully. Jeep was towed and repair of trans and flywheel took about 4-6 weeks. Around 6k later, trans went out again. I knew bc the transmission began slipping and the burning smell was back. As of, 10/16/23, my jeep is in again for a new transmission. It began slipping again and the brining smell was back. I’m being told the parts may take time due to the UAW strike. I’m again without a vehicle. 3 times with a brand new jeep.

The clutch in my 2022 Jeep Wrangler has been under recall since March 5, 2023 due to risk of overheating and catching fire. Jeep has pushed back their solution to this recall for 2022 models until August 2024. I am worried about the safety of my passengers, particularly if I have passengers in the backseat that would need to evacuate through the front doors by moving the driver's seat forward. Jeep's unwillingness to find a timely remedy is unacceptable, as is their unwillingness to reimburse for aftermarket solutions.

Transmission has been leaking transmission fluid since date of purchase. At ~13,000 miles, the dealer replaced the entire transmission under warranty. The new transmission is also leaking transmission fluid. Since transmission fluid is flammable, this is a safety concern when the dripping transmission fluid contacts the hot exhaust tubing.

On the evening of August 19 I was returning to Katy Texas from a trip to Austin Texas. About half way home the Axle Locker Fault indicator light came on along with a blinking rear axle fault indicator. Just east of Sealy Texas on 1-10 I heard a clunk and saw smoke pour out from underneath the back of the jeep. I also lost forward momentum and had to make my way over from the far left lane 3 lanes to the emergency lane without power. I was fortunate to be near an exit and was able to roll off onto the feeder and into grassy area off the road. With a loss of power in heavy traffic this could have caused a fatal accident. The jeep, which is slightly over a year old was towed by AAA to my house. On Monday Jeep was called who towed it to autonation at 21777 katy freeway. They analyzed the problem and it was a broken pinion gear in the differential. The rear differential had been replaced by the dealer in March due to the same warning lights from the axel position sensor. As of the submittal of this report, the jeep is at the dealer waiting for an axle replacement.

On 3/1/23 my wife was driving our 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4XE at highway speed in the middle of a 3-lane highway. When the Jeep ran out of electric battery and transitioned to hybrid mode the engine completely shut down and she had almost no time to make it from the middle lane to the side of the highway without accident. Multiple cars and large semis had to break suddenly to avoid rear-ending the Jeep. After getting to the side of the highway the Jeep would not restart or shift to neutral. An extremely dangerous situation and thankfully the police showed up to divert traffic. With all of this said, I took my Jeep to the dealer in December 2022 to fix the loss of motive power recall (ZB7), and from this most recent experience, that recall fix either did not work or Jeep should issue another recall. An extremely dangerous situation when the Jeep shuts off at highway speed with no advance warning. Called JeepWave customer service on 3/1 and case #85607518 was opened with the promise that a Jeep case manager will reach out in 2-3 days to address my safety concerns. My Jeep is currently at the dealership and fingers crossed that when/if I get it back this does not happen again. We feel very lucky with the outcome as it could have been much worse with speeds decreasing from 65 MPH to 0 with no advance warning.

This is the 5th complaint I have called into JEEP directly as well as 2 different dealerships. My car is shutting down randomly on the highway. I was notified that it was "fixed" with a software update. This is a current recall that the dealership has said was "fixed". However they refuse to call a star tech or a field tech which JEEP service said was required at this point. I have tried to have this issue fixed multiple times with no positive outcome. Today again my entire JEEP shut down on the highway as I was getting on. I merely tapped the break to allow anther drive to merge and the entire car completely stopped. I personally hit the steering wheel and my dog almost hit the windshield if the bar was not there he would have. The are aware of the severity of the issue and don't believe anything is wrong. I am contacting an attorney for Lemon Law at this point as the vehicle is clearly dysfunctional

Most importantly, this occurred about 7 days AFTER the NHTSA 22V-865 recall for this issue was performed. Driving rural paved road at approximately 35 mph. Vehicle abruptly lost all motive power and went to electric only mode with a top speed of about 3-4 mph showing a red turtle icon on dash and “Service Hybrid Electrical Vehicle System” and “Service Charging System” messages. After stopping to investigate, vehicle could not be shifted out of park or moved. Vehicle required tow for repair A few hours before this occurred, vehicle experienced two short intervals of similar loss of power, both of which abated within less than a few seconds. Most concerning is that this occurred after recall 22V-865 was performed, indicating that the safety issue is unresolved by that recall or is an independent issue. Total and unanticipated loss of power creates a safety issue in our hilly and populated terrain.

My 2022 Wrangler Hybrid only has 6500 miles on it and it had two significant/scary events. First, the motor cut out while driving on the expressway. Fortunately I was able to pull all the way over and start it up again but it was dangerous and scary. Second, and most significant, my vehicle experienced the "death wobble." When you travel over 60mph and hit a bump, the entire vehicle wobbles so much that the wheels and steering are nearly uncontrollable. This happened to me 20 times while driving my vehicle one day. It was terrifying for me and my passenger and I was even pulled over by other concerned drivers on the road. My vehicle has now been in repairs for over 2 weeks because the part to fix the vehicle is backordered. I no longer have confidence in this vehicle, it scares me to drive it and yet the manufacturer won't take it back because lemon laws don't apply, yet (has to be 30 days in service). I don't want this to happen to other drivers. Please investigate Jeep and keep people safe.

I was driving a longer distance from Las Vegas Nevada to California Victor Ville and was coming down in speed and vehicle claimed a sudden stop in power and turned off. After a min of attempting to pull into a close parking lot the Jeep 4xe alarms were going on and off uncontrollably with zero power or capability to shutting off. After a few times of attempting to turn the jeep on and off and no success i got out of my vehicle, disconnected the battery and reconnected it. We were on the freeway with our infant in the back seat and on a thanksgiving trip back home. We just thought it was random until a recall lawyer reached out about our post on it and mentioned this is a lethal and serious issue. At this moment, we are not driving it as we seen a news channel mention this issue. I say this with the tone of seeking a new solution that is not in this death trap… We as a family would like to find a way to get a refund and away from this completely. We do not feel safe, we just bought this vehicle a month ago.

Engine shut down condition caused by diagnostic reactions to faults caused by communication of the car. Motive power has been lost while driving. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or any authority. I have contacted manufacturer and dealership and they have not offered any options since this is a recall issue that has no solution or parts available they told me to wait it out. Therefore I am now paying for a car that is not safe to drive and these concerns have not been fixed or addressed by manufacture.

Svc 4wd light went on in the car after start-up, and i tried to reverse from my parking spot with the wheel turned and it felt like the emergency brakes were on. I stopped to check and they were not. i tried to reverse again and the car starts making a grinding noise and jerking motion as it pulls out slowly. When I drive straight I almost can’t accelerate and the car randomly jerks and stops which could cause an accident if the person behind me doesn’t brake quick enough. I immediately brought it to the Jeep dealership since this is the second time in a week this has happened but the first time it seemed to resolve itself. The service tech put a device to check the cars computer and I was told the car is no longer driveable and said something is wrong with the transmission and transfer case.they did not have loaners or rentals so now I am careless.

The vehicle violently shakes when it encounters a bump, pothole, or other road surface deviation while driving over 60mph. The steering wheel and front wheels of the vehicle both do this until speed is reduced to under 50mph. Control of the vehicle is greatly reduced during this period. The vehicle is currently at the dealership with 3,000 miles and was purchased new in June of 2022. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms that appear prior to this behavior. The behavior is consistent, occurring anytime its driven over 60mph and a road surface deviation is encountered.

drive at highway got the following error messages "service charging system" and "service transmission." I also got an error message on my Jeep U connect app "a charge fault has occurred." I'm lucky to be alive. At the time, I had two-thirds full tank of gas and 6% battery charge (see attachment).

During routine driving at highway speed, the vehicle’s electronic stability control (ESC) warning light illuminated on the dashboard. Within seconds, the vehicles check engine light (CEL) also illuminated. At that point, the vehicle stalled without battery or engine power via any internal combustion or battery power. I was able to safely coast the vehicle to the side of the road narrowly avoiding any accident. I shut off the vehicle hoping this was some sort of electronic error since the vehicle only had 800 miles. However, when restarting the vehicle, both warning lights still remained illuminated and would not clear. I was able to successfully have the vehicle taken back to my home while inoperable. I began researching various forums pertaining to the Jeep 4XE with many owners claiming the vehicle has fuse seating issues. Upon inspecting the fuse box, nearly 15 fuses were improperly seated. Once seated by me, I was able to start the vehicle and the ESC and CEL light cleared and normal vehicle operations now exist. My wife and I live in permanent fear that this type of vehicle will stall again and we will be unable to dodge traffic to coast to the shoulder. Please investigate this troubling concern on this vehicle model. Thank you. The vehicle and components are available for inspection. The incident has not been replicated and a dealer has not seen the vehicle yet.
