Engine developed a “ticking” sound, oil consumption has increased and vehicle will periodically stall at low speeds when driving especially towards the end of the oil change interval. All periodic maintenance has been performed since I have owned the car. Previous owner indicated the same. This has the 1.8l engine which I understand can exhibit these same problems but thus far has been at least partially left out of any recalls although that isn’t entirely clear.
Slow to shift and accelerate
The engine is failing. I took my Kia Forte into the dealership in March of 2025 for a blinking engine light and loss of power. It is under a warranty for engine replacement but Kia has done everything in their power not to help their own customer out. This engine issue can cause life threatening issues such as engine fires or stalling on busy roads which could lead to accidents. I will be getting further help from an attorney if the issue is not resolved.
The car has a knock sensor that causes it to go into limp mode. I was told by the service manager to drive it until the code goes from pending to not pending. The code is 1326. I have drove it, and it is not safe to drive. You can’t go ten miles without it going into limp mode.
I brought my vehicle into the Kia dealership (Jim Ellis Kia of Kennesaw) due to check engine light and limp mode activation. The code P1326 was identified, which is tied to Kia's extended warranty related to known engine defects. This all started Sunday [XXX], and I brought the car to the Kia dealership (Jim Ellis Kia of Kennesaw) on [XXX]. Despite this I was told I do not qualify for warranty service unless the engine fails completely. The dealership also attempted to upsell me unrelated services (such as an engine flush) without performing proper diagnostics. When I pressed for answers, I was told they did not even inspect the engine's cleanliness, despite recommending a $500 service. I called Kia Consumer Affairs and opened a claim. 2 repair orders were sent to the dealership, but the dealership did not respond to me or Kia Consumer Affairs. I was eventually told the dealership is refusing to work on my vehicle further and I was instructed to pick it up. The most concerning part is the Service Advisor at the Kia Dealership told me I need to "drive the car until the engine blows up" before I qualify for warranty. This is extremely unsafe for me and everyone on the road, and I feel uncomfortable with doing so. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Started working with Kia care center about October 2024. My engine oil was burning internal and I was given a case number, was told to drive until oil was very low and drive 1,000 miles, and told NOT to add oil from Grand Kia. Took my car into Grand Kia, didn't get to 1,000 only lasted three months, Kia care center woman I was working with called many times keeping everything I said, did. Kia added oil and told me I had to drive another 1,000 miles until very low. April 14 took car back, shaking oil very low. They added oil and told me the reason my car was shaking was a spark plug was loose. That is not true it shakes when oil low, It happened before when oil was very low they told me I can leave I told them they are suppose to put in an engine, they said no, we aren't doing that. I called Kia care center put in my case number, couldn't speak to the woman I have been dealing with after speaking to two other reps. I spoke with a manager. He was also very rude. Said I was not getting an engine. I took my car to Christian Bros. Auto shop, they did a compression test, it's my engine, my pistons. This has been going on for about seven months, doing what they asked me to do. Grand Kia would not give me receipts because they were not charging me. I currently have 113,000 miles. My engine light stopped working, my car is shaking. I don't drive it, I'm frightened it will stop working while driving.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH on the highway, there was smoke coming from under the hood. There was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle stopped. The TPMS and engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that failure was due to the engine. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Mileage: 130,000
The engine has known defects, however is not on the engine replacement campaign. Failed at 114k miles. KIA refuses to acknowledge known defects. Dealer confirmed bad engine. Second opinion confirmed also. No warning or service engine lights. All oil changes were arouond 3k miles. Started with a slight ticking noise that progressivly got worse.. Driviability is fine. So this proves KIA has defective engines including the 1.8 liter.
Burning a unnecessary amount of oil. The oil pump failed
The car will randomly cut off while driving, to restart the car must be put into neutral to restart and the lights go off during that time. If you are on the interstate going over 50, it will jerk and restart itself but the steering gets really stiff and you have to pull over and cut car off and restart to get the steering to work properly again.
As mentioned in the dealership report, Kia denied my request to repair a recall on the motor. My car still has warranty on the motor up to 15 years and 150,000 miles.
My 2014 Kia Forte experienced random stalling/loss of speed. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic multiple times- the crank shaft sensor was replaced, new batteries were put in, and a starter was replaced. When starting the vehicle sometimes it would not turn over or click a few times to start. A ticking noise was noted aswell and relayed to the mechanic-mechanic could not find any issues. The oil light began coming on and off-especially when stopped the light would stay on, when starting to drive if would go off. Took the vehicle to the closest mechanic-the mechanic said he has diagnosed another Kia with the same issue. He said to look up recalls. I found out that my car is experiencing the exact same issues as other Kias listed as NHTSA Recall Number: 20V750- It was diagnosed at a Kia dealer in which they noted the rod is coming lose in the engine and that the whole engine would need to be replaced. When calling Kia I was told I was not going to qualify because I have a 1.8 Liter engine, however the symptoms of the car are identical to the recall listed above. The car needs a whole new engine replacement. I tried multiple times to get my car diagnosed and was told by a few mechanics that nothing was wrong with the car. I do not feel that it is fair that this car is not included in the recall. It is a 2014 Kia Forte, and other 2014 Kia fortes are listed in the recall. The cost of repair is more than what the car is currently valued at. The car has just recently hit 104,000 miles. All the maintenance on the car was routinely taken care of and inspections/emissions have always been up to date.
I want to report KIA of Lynchburg at 3400 Old Forest Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24501 because they do not want to honor their recall. October 14, 202I: I took my car to Kia because of a recall. After the mechanic finish, Lisa said to bring it back if the engine light goes on. (Exhibit 1) November 16, 2021: Lisa said that if the light was on due to a different problem I have to pay for the service. I agreed to hook it on the computer because I was sure all this has to do with the recall. I had to pay $99 because the oxygen sensor was not part of the recall. I asked her for a copy of the recall. She said, “you don’t qualify for the recall because you went over the mileage.” And she didn’t give me a copy. (Exhibit 2) June 5, 2024: I took my car to Harris. I let them know about t the popping sound on the steering wheel and the losing of power going uphill. I was recommended to bring my car back to Kia. (Exhibit 3) Jun 11, 2024: I took my car to KIA at Harry Tire's suggestion and because I received a letter from Kia. The Kevin said they’re going to check the breaks, oil waste, and the losing of power. 9:27am (434) 847-3292. I call KIA because I forgot to tell the guy about the knocking sound from the steering wheel. Kevin explained me that I will be charge for that because that was not cover under the warranty. I told him not to do it. I received an estimate of everything that needs to be fixed on the car and how much I will be charged. (Exhibit 4) Sept 3, 2024: I called service of Kia and Mike answered, I told him that I want to set up an appoint because I received a renotification letter at that moment he hands up the telephone on me. I called again to service, and I left a message letting them know what happened with my first call, but nobody contacted me back. (Exhibit 5) October 1, 24: I took my car to NTB for the oxygen sensor to be change, but the mechanic said code P1326 shows a history, and that his wife had the same problem and KIA had to install a new motor for her.

My vehicle started making a ticking noise and then after driving on the interstate it entered limp mode with the check engine, battery, steering wheel, and oil lights on. I have been up to date on all oil changes and the car is only at 95,000 miles. After taking it to a mechanic he said the issue it with the engine and it needs a full replacement. The car is available for inspection and the problem is very common with Kia’s similar to mine, there is even a recall for the same car the same year mine is just not included for some reason.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal knocking sound emanating from the engine compartment. Driving to school and the engine started acting weird and took to Good Year mechanic and I received the attached invoice. Kindly refer to the invoice.
I took my car to Kia Healy in Newburgh New York for a recall on knock sensor update and ever since my car is not working had to park it.
I has replaced 2 coil packs then the engine started clicking
Driving down the highway and check engine light came on and dropped the cars speed down to 30 mph and was stuck on the highway and I called the KIA dealership that I got the car from and they cleared the code on the car and claimed they fixed it just for the car to go back into limp mode and now I’m stuck without a car and the dealership doesn’t want to fix it
Engine clicking noticed . Then light came on. Mechanic fixed. Engine light came on coil needed to be replaced a week later. Clicking got louder took to dealer said Engine wasn't getting enough oil that there was none on dipstick (took photo as proof it had oil). No other explanations no other solutions other than replacing Engine. Engine seized up un able to upload estimate bc of website issues
I was driving 65 mph and all of sudden the speed got lowered to 45 mph even I was pushing accelerator. Also I heard the engine knocking noise when I pushed accelerator hard. I had to stop and parked nearby church parking lot. I called a mechanic to diagnose, and he said the engine was broken and needed to be replaced with a new engine.
Car died in reverse. Check engine light came on and turned off. Took to mechanic replaced spark plugs. Then 6 days later had another misfire replaced coils. At that a clicking noise was heard. Brought to kia dealership who said knocking come from engine but did not say what. Upon parking car completely died in drive. Engine failed.
There is an unknown smell (kind of smells like Carbon Monoxide) when cranking up my car. There is this knocking noise that I continue to hear as if something is loose under my car, but when inspected, nothing was loose. It happens when I hit a bump or go over a hump in the road. The unknown smell scares me as this could be potentially hazardous to me and drivers around me. The knocking noise is terrifying making me feel as though my car is going to break down on me at any moment because of something that can’t be detected.

Just crunk it up and out the blue started knocking no warning no nothing
My Kia Forte is from Puerto Rico, and I am currently having engine issues. The codes for the engine issues (and light) are P0014 and P0300. It can be inspected upon request. Kia America refuses to honor or attempt to look up the possible recalls for the engine, which is currently burning oil, and I've been advised that it's a safety hazard. I've been told that the engine is at risk of catching on fire, or exploding. This problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. I have not had to get my car inspected as I am originally from Texas, living in New York, and can update my registration via online as long as the car is inspected as soon as I return to Texas. I have spoken to Kia Puerto Rico and have been told that it's the job of Kia America to transfer the VIN number over so that it may be looked up in the warranty and recall system. The warning lamps first appeared in August. I'm the third owner of the vehicle, and was not made aware of the Puerto Rican VIN number prior to purchase, but Kia Puerto Rico insists that it IS Kia America's job to fix recall items.
Oil burn off prior to recommended oil change interval. Oil level was extremely low. Oil burn off has been increasing at progressive rates.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The failure persisted and the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with dark, heavy scoring on the cylinder walls and the engine was replaced under warranty. Recently, the check engine warning light flashed on the instrument panel and the vehicle shifted into LIMP Mode. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The check engine warning light was cleared. The failure returned soon after leaving the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,374.

Vehicle states glow relay stuck on (p1326) vehicle has gone into limp mode. Not able to drive over 60mph. All recommendations by Kia has been completed and vehicle still in limp mode.
My car has a knocking on the engine. I was told that I needed an engine replacement. However the car is just under 90k. Kia had a class action lawsuit with Kia forte 2014 models with engines 2.0 and 2.4 for complete engine failure and or engine fires. I have the exact same issue as the recalled cars in the lawsuit. I shouldn't have to do a full engine replacement at just under 90k. I am scared my car might catch fire. That's my transportation for me and my son. I can't even drive it anymore and the Kia dealership in Boise idaho has ignored me and I asked them specific questions and they told me nothing I learned all this on the internet. I have an engine 1.8 and they say it's not on the list but it should be. I need help getting my car on that list. I the knocking sound and the Kia dealership just told me I needed a new engine but never advised what could happen to me and my family if I keep driving it. That car is parked. I will never drive it again. I need help. Please.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the check engine warning light and the oil warning light were blinking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that engine oil was leaking onto the cam shaft and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 88,000.

My car started making a loud knocking and whining sound. It started around August of 2022. I called about an email I received saying there was a recall for my vehicle. I took my vehicle to Barnes Crossing Kia in Tupelo, MS I think on August 31 2022. They told me there was nothing wrong with my engine. My engine light is on. Ok fine, as my car gets worse, I'm starting to smell strong fumes inside the car when my air is on especially. So I took it to a shop called Coles Auto Repair and a mechanic told me my motor is going out on April 14 2023. I called Kia recall customer service and they told me that my vin number was not under a recall. I'm reading that my particular vehicle engine was recalled. So basically I'm told there's nothing they can do. The warranty only covers road bearing damages. I've only had my car since June 2021. Please help!
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the engine made loud rattling and knocking sounds. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine and catalytic converter were faulty. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the dealer declined the engine replacement due to the mileage exceeding 150,000. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that they were unable to assist because the dealer was privately owned. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

Warning lights starting flashing and vehicle went into "limp mode". Before I could completely pull over the engine started smoking. Taken to the dealer and while they were able to confirm the rod bearing was the failure, it also caused other failures so Kia wouldnt cover it under the warranty. I've did arbitration but still no help.
My car caught on fire out of nowhere when i pulled into my grandma's house. I was unaware of a recall until I was advised by the firman that put my car out that they had also put another kia out the same day and it had a recall. Upon searching I found this recall. I contacted kia and went through their claims process. They inspected my vehicle and are still claiming it didnt come from inside the dash board which is where the fire originated when I tried to put it out before it got out of hand. I have a video that proves i pulled in and it caught fire spontaneously. Kia has but me through trauma with that fire and I am lucky to still have a job with the work I missed without a vehicle.
Tha car is burning engine oil, around 1/4 gallon each week and the motor don't have any oil leak and no black or blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe
While driving on the interstate vehicle's engine warning light turned on and suddenly the vehicle rapidly lost power. This created a VERY dangerous situation on a busy highway, putting my safety at risk and those of fellow drivers. Luckily there were no accidents and I managed to get to a repair facility. The mechanic said the engine codes were for the replacement of the engine. The engine was also low on oil again. Refilled oil to proper levels. The same issue occurred the next day, with more missing oil - no power, barely drivable and smells like gasoline inside the car a 2014 KIA FORTE.

I was driving on the highway going 50 mph where the vehicle suddenly shut off and started smoking. I exited the vehicle to take a look and the entire engine compartment was on fire. I only had the car for 2 months and was never made aware of any recalls on the car
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving 45-50 MPH, the engine was misfiring and there was dark smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The used car dealer was notified of the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

I took my 2014 Kia Forte EX into the Kia dealership when there was a recall issued for the engine and also for a software update. I got the update and then shortly after leaving the dealership, my check engine light came on and started flashing. Soon my car quickly lost acceleration out of no where. My car has been stuck in limp mode ever since. I took the car back to the dealership and I have had my knock sensor replaced twice and every time I get my car back from the dealership it’s in worse condition than it was before I took it in. It studders more often and makes noise. I have been to dealerships from Illinois to Florida trying to get Kia to replace my engine. Before the software update my car was working fine no issues. The mechanics at the dealership said it is a engine/motor problem and I will need my engine to be completely replaced but because my engine isn’t failing the test then they will not do anything to fix my car even though they acknowledge it is a problem. My car is under warranty and based on the class action lawsuits I’m sure there is something that needs to be done to fix my car. I cannot afford to pay out of pocket for a new engine or to have to buy a new car. My car is not safe to drive and I have been out of a car for almost two years now because of this. There has to be some way you could help me get my car fixed. I paid this car off in full and as soon as it was paid off the software update put my car in limp mode and I have been having issues with it.
My engine burns oil very fast, I am constantly putting oil in it even after oil changes. At one point, I was told by the dealership that I would need a new engine and that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced as a result of the engine problem. I ended up having to come out of pocket for the catalytic repair, 2 times... Thats right... 2 times. Upon returning to the dealership about engine, I was told that there was a recall for another issue in the engine that they would take care of. Upon asking about the engine, I was told the engine was fine. Also the coupler in the steering wheel column has gone bad, it was fine, until my clock springs were replaced by the dealership. The clock springs were under a recall/extended warranty issue.
engine burning oil, engine knocking, entire engine needed replaced
Engine knocking. Entire engine needs replaced.
Vehicle has a engine oil leak.
Car shuts down while driving. ABS and traction control light comes on, cruise control shuts off, power steering light comes on and no power steering, screens and radio stop working, no a/c or heat, car finally completely shuts down.
On June 24, 2022 I was driving my vehicle on 435N to work. My steering wheel jerked to the left and started spinning out of control. I was driving at 60mph in the inside lane. When my steering jerked it caused me to turn headfirst into the inside wall. I proceeded to spin out of control across 3 lanes of rush hour traffic, clipping a second vehicle, before smashing into the outside wall and then resting in the outside lane horizontally. I was rushed to the emergency room where I suffered a broken back. Upon looking at the recalls and safety issues with my vehicle there was a recall #17V773000 for the brake pedal stopper; a most recent
My engine started smoking like crazy while driving. It had oil pouring out of the bottom of my car. I was stranded on the side of the interstate next to a smoking car with my 5 month old baby because they forgot to mention my engine had a recall. They won’t even look at my car until July 27th and won’t give me a loaner.

All Star Kia of Baton Rouge submitted information to Kia and the recall listed was denied. Cited that the car was put through a bearing test, and even charged me 393 dollars for this test when dealing with this recall directly. My vehicle was up to date with oil changes and verified that it was changed before 6k miles even sometimes before 3k miles. Currently the vehicle has a knock in it. PRIOR to bringing it in All Star Kia of Baton Rouge claimed they had all the parts but the long block suddenly wasn't there when I reached the location. I asked to see the data that they ran and they just showed the word "passed" without any data. All Star Kia then stated that their information connects directly with Kia directly and they don't have that information. They tried to charge me a 8000 for a engine repair. When dealing with the bearing test I told the representative I couldn't afford the 393 I'm just here for the test she said it would be ok and that they were going to use the data to contact Kia about the engine replacement, but needed my verification to run the test via a yes response on a text back to the representative. I was just in fear that my car would catch on fire at some point, and it was turned into a profit and the recall was completely neglected
Bought a used 2014 Kia Forte from Ourisman Kia in Chantilly, VA in November, 2021. Had 116k miles. 2/20/22, traveling on 55 MPH three lane road, the car suddenly lost all power as I was driving in the left lane. Engine light was flashing. I put on hazards and was able to pull off the highway. On 2/21/22 Ourisman Kia service added oil, cleared error codes, and told us to drive 1000 miles and bring it back. We did not make it to 1000 miles. Car again suddenly went into limp mode and flashing engine light while teenage son was driving on 3/15. Code Po302 was detected. Ourisman Kia service replaced ignition coil and spark plugs 3/17. On 3/23, car again suddenly went into limp mode and engine light started flashing again while on highway. Returned car to Ourisman Kia service 3/24/22 where it still sits. Code P1326 is detected. At any of these three times the car went into limp mode while driving on highway, me or my family could have been in serious accident. Car completely loses power to nothing and then slowly rebuilds to max 2000 RPM / approx 40 MPH.
The engine on my Kia Forte failed just 12k miles after a recall service that was intended to ensure an additional 80k miles of engine use. Either the recall work to ensure that additional range was defective, or the process that designed the work was defective. Recall # 20v750 was to check for engine damage, and install a knock sensor update that would PREVENT engine failure. At the time of service the dealership ignored reported oil problems and did not perform the inspection as described in the recall notice. The eventual sensor alert that was supposed to PREVENT damage is instead being treated by the dealer as a catastrophic result that requires replacement. On two fronts the work performed was not as described- there was no legitimate inspection (note the reported oil burn reported by the dealership), and the prevention-enabling sensor update failed to prevent anything.

One Monday morning my engine light came on in my car so I went to go to go get my car checked out that Tuesday morning . The dude that checked my car ( I forgot his name ) found metal in my oil which came from my engine and told me to see if I had a recall on my car , come to find out I did have a recall on my engine . My safety was put at risk due to the fact that my engine COULDVE blew while driving on the road . And it was confirmed by the Kia dealership that my car needed a new engine but they was telling me that I may or may not get my engine in my car due to the fact the recall was on the car since December of last year of 2020 which I didn’t know about at the time until AFTER I bought the car . I was trying to move my car to the dealership to get it checked out and my car made a loud thumping noise which came from the engine and my car completely shut off before leaving the place where I had it looked at . I ended up getting it towed to the Kia dealership for further inspections . It’s been approximately 3 weeks since my car has been fixed and I haven’t gotten my car fixed yet . The lady at Kia ( I forgot her name ) told me basically it’s nothing Kia can do for my car .
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving 53 MPH at night, the vehicle started shuddering and then stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence. The vehicle was then towed to the used car dealer where it was purchased. The used car dealer diagnosed that the catalytic converter was misfiring. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred while driving five months later. The vehicle was taken back to the used car dealer where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter was misfiring. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the used car dealer three more times. The used car dealer provided the same diagnostic and repaired the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,800.

Campaign PI2002A. P1326 KIA Code - Knock Sensor Detection System, Milage 35,488. January 15: My MIL went on 2 blocks from the house. I parked the car. Towed to garage who ran the code and recommended car got to dealership. Towed to dealer on January 17 ish. The dealer installed the patch and I picked up my car January 27. I drove around the block and retruned my car for knocking- the higher the speed the louder the noise. The dealership worked with Kia to reosolve by making videos of my car for weeks. 6 WEEKS LATER dealership called to tell me that I need a new engine and that the rods need replacing but it is not covered by a recall that specifically states that rods and or engine should be replaced. They offer a liftime waranty and engine replacement for this same code in other Kias. Repairs or a new engine should be covered as is with outher Kias with same issue. TSB Number: PI2002YZ_TSB_R2 NHTSA Number: 10201615. Literally the same issue in DTC P1326 (PI1803Y/Z)
Had major oil consumption issues, 2+ quarts a week with no visible drips, puddles or misting. Dropped off at dealer when on vacation. Dealer insisted that problem was oil pan and they insisted that it was the source of leak despite my protests. I was told that "...at any rate, Kia will not authorize engine replacement". No change to consumption after picking up car. KSDS software update performed. Flashing CEL and breakdown on highway several months later. Different dealer diagnosed needed repair as "engine replacement". Neither dealer nor Kia consumer care (KCAC) would do ANYTHING to take care of problem. Ignored my letter, and stiff-armed at every step. BTW, I bought 2 brand new cars from this dealership. Terrible quality and even worse customer service, if that is possible. Clearly this is a known issue and Kia is doing their darnedest to not have to add the Forte model to their recall as this is their biggest seller with this engine. Shame on Kia, their dealer network and the US consumer affairs agencies and NHTSA for not making this happen!
My car had recall service performed last year at First Kia in Simi Valley, CA. The work (for engine fires) took four months to complete, because on my first two visits they were refusing to perform recall service. The recall was to fix oil leaks and update the knock sensor. They never did fix my leaking engine. A few weeks ago some engine noise made me concerned. First Kia denied any warranty coverage on the work performed. The recall notice meanwhile explicitly describes oil leak corrections and warranty updates. At present my car has a knocking trouble code and I've now been misled by First Kia into great cost.
i bought my 2014 kia forte last 5months ago. my car started to make a weird noise. i brought my car to dealership and they said it needs a new engine. i still owe around $8000+ with this car. i am student and i dont how am i going able to get money for a new engine.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 145,000.

On November 2nd of 2020 my vehicle could barely make it up a highway incline, the RPM's would go high but, vehicle could get no speed or shift gears. My car actually cut off on me with no warning and at that time I was not in the slow lane which was dangerous. So I coasted off the exit and the car would not start. The car was towed to dealer and was checked out and repaired for a catalytic converter. Now on November 5th 2022 the vehicle started doing the same exact thing as before. Keep in mind its only been barely over year since converter was replaced. The engine again stalls out while driving and would not start. So, on 02/07/2022 I had a flex pipe put on the car. On 02/09/2022 I took it to an exhaust shop to have it checked. Once again they had to replace the converter due to it being clogged. The repair shop stated that this is a problem with GDI engines and that's it burning more oil causing the converter to clog. So this is unsafe to the consumer where it either stalls out or cuts off without notice. There is a problem because now I'm on my 2nd converter in little more than a year.
The car is running really terribly. Took to a Kia dealer to have recall for Knocking sensor and catalytic converter fixed as we were told by a prior mechanic. Car has 86,000 miles on it. The kia dealer did not fix the problem(s). Gave us back the car in the same working order it was in when they received. Didn't notify us of what was wrong with the car exactly and did not offer to fix or remedy it either on the recall or us paying out of pocket. But did tell us about multiple light bulbs that were out. I called and spoke to them about it and they told me that what is wrong with the car is not covered under the 2 recalls they repaired. But the things that are wrong with the car were under the recall notices that we read on the NHTSA website after entering the VIN.
Vehicle has 103k miles. Ticking noise evident from engine., which reacts to increase in RPM. Took to local Kia dealer for diagnosis - recommended a new engine. Cost of $6-7000 to replace the engine. This vehicle cost was just arouns $7000 last year when purchasded.
Engine seized while driving. Car had just over 60,000 miles. Approximately 61,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer failed to update the Knock Sensor Detection System software. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who updated the Knock Sensor Detection System software; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that they would send a diagnostic report and video clips to the manufacturer to obtain the manufacturer's approval for the engine replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to obtain a vehicle rental out-of-pocket and she would be reimbursed later. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 63,200.

The vehicle has been consuming and leaking oil for over two years. More recently the vehicle was started/running and it was identified that large amounts of oil were leaking from the engine. The vehicle was towed to the original Kia dealership where purchased. The Kia dealership has advised that the engine is seized and requires replacement. Kia has declined the dealership's request to replace engine. Recall for vehicle is currently open: Manufacturer Recall Number - SC200YD NHTSA Recall Number - 20V750
My Kia Forte when I put it in reverse it will jerk back then pause and hardly push itself backwards I have no control same as putting the car into Drive. I also consistently hear water in the bottom of my car swishing around.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that while his son was driving at 45 mph, the engine failed and smoke was coming from the engine. The contact's son was able to pull over and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure, and no oil was found in the oil reservoir. The engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to another dealer, Koons Annapolis Toyota (1107 West St, Annapolis, MD 21401), and the dealer sent documents from the previous dealer, Kia of Bowie, to the manufacturer. The Koons Annapolis Toyota dealer had the vehicle towed to Alexandria Car Clinic (3235 Colvin St, Alexandria, VA 22314) for the engine replacement. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. However, the manufacturer closed the case without notifying the contact and had not responded to the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 66,800.

Oil Consumption. Having to put about 3 quarts of oil in before the next recommended oil change. Have been doing that for the last 6+ months.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, knocking noises were heard and the vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of engine oil after she checked the oil level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer performed an engine and oil consumption test. The vehicle passed the engine test but failed the oil consumption test. The dealer updated the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) software. The dealer informed the contact to bring the vehicle back after 1,000 miles for the oil consumption test. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer after driving the vehicle for 1,000 miles and the vehicle failed the oil consumption test. The dealer informed the contact that they would not perform another oil consumption test and the engine would not be replaced since the vehicle had passed the engine test prior and they only replaced seized engines. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would contact the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

My 2.0L GDI engine developed a clacking sound and I have been told I need a new engine. It seems to be the same issue as the other Kia models with this same engine that have had their engines recalled. Yet Kia does not include the Forte in the recall, even though it is the same engine.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated while driving approximately 80 MPH, the vehicle was shaking violently and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V750000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who stated that the parts were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2014 Kia Forte. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming excessive oil and there was oil leaking onto the ground. The contact had to put 1 to 2 quarts of oil for every trip. There was also smoke coming from the engine and a loud knocking noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four separate occasions and the dealer refilled the oil. However, the dealer could not diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the dealer attempted to make her sign a waiver but when she refused, the dealer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the vehicle may catch fire. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer but was not able to speak to a live representative. The failure mileage was 54,498.

I started trying in 2015 or 2016 to have my engine replaced and compensated for the purchase of both engines for the two Kia's I bought brand new when the engines went out on both of the cars weeks apart. Please can anyone help me with this situation, as I am at my wits end to be compensated for something that should have been taken care of the first time I reported their engines going out on two cars bought the very same day. Also on the Kia ending in VIN # 9225, it sat at the dealership for almost two years before I could even afford to have the motor replaced for it and the other one a little later. At the very least that can be verified, that I was paying on cars that weren't even running and just sitting until I could afford to replace the motors. I was on my way home from work when the engine light came on and the car started to just not want to move anymore. I barely made it home and eventually took it to Kia and was told the engine went out. I can only give an approximate date from the email of when I inquired about the motors later on when I could afford to have them replaced. I will have to get a copy of the receipt for the motor replacement of one of the Kia's from my daughter. I was told to contact Kia to verify the motors were replaced, but they wanted to charge me and I can't afford the amount for either of the cars to verify engine replacement on the cars. The repair shop that replaced the motors is no longer in business and the phone numbers are no longer associated with the business even though they still show as being open. I have emailed and contacted the information on the business's site, but no response at all. Please can someone help me with Kia in assisting with this matter as it should have been taken care of the very first time I called to report to the issue. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

The vehicle has spun a rod bearing of the internal engine. It is available for inspection upon request. Engine damage puts driver, passengers and all bystanders at extreme risk. Dealer has confirmed rod knock. Other automotive shop diagnosed spun rod bearing. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. The check engine light came on immediately before failure.

While driving the vehicle in June 2020, the engine started knocking loudly and caused the vehicle to vibrate so I shut off the vehicle. After being towed, the mechanic stated the rod blew through the block and knocked out the starter. The engine needs a full replacement and based on my mechanics review this would not have happened had the 12/2020 recall been conducted more timely. The Kia recall # stated Kia dealership would pick up the vehicle & inspect for free. The dealership has refused to work with me or my mechanic, advised it would not be covered based on being out of warranty and avoids explaining why it isn’t covered or what the actual recall is (they will only state the name of the recall, not why or the details).
I own a 2014 KIA Forte and was hearing a ticking / knocking when I drive. I dropped it off at service station Milton to be looked at. The next day 4/1/21 I got a from them and he notified me that my engine is under 2 recalls by KIA and needs to be replaced. He recommended that I have it towed there due to it not being safe to drive. He spoke with KIA to let them know it was on the way with the reason of the engine recall. I have a Certified 2014 Kia Forte with 115,000 miles and I have had the car 5 1/2 years. I also have an Extended Warranty for 8 years AND 150,000 miles which I am in the clear of. Kia American is refusing to fix my vehicle. Main reason is because I am a secondary owner. That is not what is says on my agreement and warranty paperwork. They are still refusing to fix and cover the recall.
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER STATING THAT MY CAR IS PART OF A RECALL INVOLVING A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE AND INCREASES THE RISK OF INJURY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE RECALL. THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THAT THE ENGINE WILL FAIL. KIA MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE EVEN AFTER THEIR MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME COUNTLESS TIMES I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN THAT IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE HAD TO BRING MY CAR TO AND FROM THE DEALERSHIP 3-4 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS AFTER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS TURNING ON AND FLASHING CONTINUOUSLY AND MY CAR WON'T ACCELERATE LIKE NORMAL AND WILL NOT DRIVE PAST 40 MPH. I HAVE TO FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL JUST TO MOVE THE CAR. BEFORE I RECEIVED THIS RECALL LETTER AND TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET LOOKED AT, I HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY CAR ACCELERATING AND HAVE NEVER HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR DOESN'T DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP DAMAGED MY CAR AND ARE DENYING ANY WRONGDOING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE MY CAR IN THIS CONDITION I'M NOT WILLING TO RISK MY FAMILY'S SAFETY OR MY OWN SAFETY BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND THE MANUFACTURER WON'T GO THROUGH WITH THE REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE DONE FOR SAFETY REASONS AND REPLACE MY ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT LISTENING TO THEIR MECHANICS THAT HAVE TOLD ME THE ENGINE IS GUARANTEED TO FAIL. MY VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE AND KIA WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NO RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER CAR TO DRIVE FOR THE TIME EITHER.

AN ENGINE FIRE RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN ISSUED RELATING TO FUEL AND OIL LEAKS FOR MY VEHICLE. ON TWO OCCASIONS I'VE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR SERVICE TO THEIR FIRST KIA DEALERSHIP IN SIMI VALLEY CA, AND BOTH TIMES THEY'VE REFUSED TO COMPLETE REPAIRS, SAYING THE MANUFACTURER'S REPAIR SERVERS WERE DOWN AND INACCESSIBLE FOR THE NECESSARY SERVICE. ON THE MOST RECENT APPOINTMENT (APRIL 9), THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME HE'D GIVE ME A CALL ONCE THE REPAIR SYSTEM WAS BACK ONLINE, BUT THAT CALL NEVER HAPPENED. KIA HAS NOT REPLIED TO MY REQUESTS REGARDING THIS IMPAIRMENT OF THEIRS. MEANWHILE MY CAR IS BURNING THROUGH 1-3 QUARTS OF OIL A WEEK, THOSE GALLONS OF OIL LOSS HAVE ALREADY COST ME ONE CONTAMINATED CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND I LACK THE WORK FLEXIBILITY TO CONTINUE SCHEDULING FRUITLESS REPAIR VISITS. MY CAR HAS A FLAW THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD FIX, BUT BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER THERE HAS BEEN AN INABILITY TO PROVIDE THAT REPAIR. THE ONGOING PURSUIT OF THOSE SOLUTIONS HAS LEFT ME AT RISK OF LOSING WORK SHOULD THIS NONSENSE CONTINUE- MUCH OF MY SCHEDULING FLEXIBILITY HAS BEEN EXHAUSTED.

THIS HAPPENED BACK IN JUNE OF 2019. I LEFT WORK NORMALLY AND NOT EVEN 2 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD, MY CAR STARTED STRUGGLING TO MOVE FORWARD. IT WAS BUCKING AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE, BUT STILL TRYING TO GO FORWARD. THEN SUDDENLY IT STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD TAPPING NOISE, STILL BUCKING AND THEN A LARGE POP AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING SINCE IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS. SMOKE STARTED SEEPING OUT OF THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I HAD NO LIGHTS ON IN MY CAR ON MY DASHBOARD. I ALWAYS HAD FREE REGULAR MAINTENANCE(OIL ETC.) DONE AT MY KIA DEALERSHIP. I OBVIOUSLY HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD LOOK AT IT IN THE MORNING. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY, BUT MY ENTIRE ENGINE HAD JUST BLOWN OUT FOR NO REASON. MY CAR WAS ONLY AT 87,000 MILES AND IT WAS JUST TOTALLED. I WASN'T WORRIED INITIALLY BECAUSE I PAID EXTRA FOR THE WARRANTY TO FIX ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS LIKE THIS, HOWEVER I CAME TO FIND OUT THE WARRANTY REFUSED TO COVER THE ENTIRE COST TO REPLACE THE PRICE OF A NEW ENGINE IN MY VEHICLE AND ON TOP OF THAT, WHEN THE ENGINE BLEW IT KILLED THE COMPUTER IN MY CAR, AND THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STRONGLY ADVISED I REPLACED SEVERAL OTHER THINGS ON THE VEHICLE. I'D HAVE TO PULL OUT MY RECEIPTS TO GIVE YOU ALL AN EXACT AMOUNT BUT WE PAID AT LEAST $5,000 - $10,000 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE ENGINE AND COMPUTER ALONE. TODAY IS MAY 8TH, 2021, ALMOST 2 YEARS LATER AND I JUST HAPPENED TO BE ON KELLEY BLUE BOOK TRYING TO SEE WHAT I CAN SELL MY GARBAGE KIA FOR. I HAPPENED TO ENTER MY VIN INTO THE RECALL CHECKER AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES, ENGINE RECALL ISSUED LATE 2020. I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY ANYBODY ABOUT THIS AND PROBABLY WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD SEEMING AS THEY ALREADY BASICALLY STOLE MY MONEY FROM ME 2 YEARS AGO. I AM REALLY HOPING YOU CAN HELP ME RESOLVE THIS AND MORE THAN HAPPY TO PROVIDE ANYTHING YOU NEED.

TL* THE CONTACT'S MOTHER OWNS A 2014 KIA FORTE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL CRANKING SOUND. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS EXTREMELY LOW. THE MECHANIC ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING OIL INTERNALLY HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY LEAKS IN THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING HAD CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KIA MALL OF GEORGIA (4180 BUFORD DR, BUFORD, GA 30519) WHERE THEY CONFIRMED DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY CARS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN RECENTLY MY LOW OIL LIGHT INDICATOR HAS BEEN FLASHING. WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT IS FINE. THEN ON APRIL 19 WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED OUT AND I HAD TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. I LOOKED AND ALL THE LIGHTS ARE LIGHT UP ON THE DASH, I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. I MADE IT HOME SAFELY. NOW THE ENGINE IS MAKING A FUNNY TAPPING NOISE. I HAD SURGERY SO I WAS LEAVING TO GO TO A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT TODAY, STARTED THE CAR, AND WAS BACKING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE AND MY CAR STALLED OUT. I REPEATED THE PROCESS OF PUTTING PARK, WAITING A FEW MINUTES AND TURNING IT BACK ON, BUT WAS TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE SO I MISSED MY APPOINTMENT AND RESEARCHED 2014 KIA FORTE. THERE CAME UP AN ARTICLE ABOUT THERE BEING A RECALL ON THOSE CARS. WHEN READING AND INVESTIGATING FURTHER MY CAR IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL STATES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ELIMINATED, LOW OIL LIGHT, CAR STALLING, AND ENGINE MAKING NOISE. THEY STATE TO CALL KIA WITH THE RECALL SC200 ABOUT THIS RECALL BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF FIRE AND DEATH. I CALL MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP THEY TELL ME IT'S NOT UNDER THE RECALL AND THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T LOOK AT THE CAR FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT'S NOT INCLUDED. SO I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE. EXPLAIN TO THE GIRL WHAT IS HAPPENING AND SHE TELLS ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND CAN'T CHECK IT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE VIN ISN'T INCLUDED. I NOW HAVE A CAR I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE DUE TO THE RISK OF IT CATCHING ON FIRE OR BEING IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT STALLING OUT. THE RECALL STATES 2014-2015 KIA FORTES AND FORTES KOUPS. I HAVE A 2014 KIA FORTE THAT IS EXHIBITING ALL THE SIGNS UNDER THE RECALL, BUT ACCORDING TO KIA I'M NOT INCLUDED.

I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR MY ENGINE TELLING ME TO BRING IN MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT TO BE INSPECTED AND IF NECESSARY, REPAIRED OR REPLACED AT NO COST. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THIS LETTER WHICH PROMPTED ME TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN TO VAN NUYS KIA. LONG STORY SHORT MY SERVICE ADVISOR CAME BACK EVENTUALLY, TELLING ME THAT KIA DECLINED MY CLAIM FOR HAVING TOO MANY MILES AND ALSO THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR BRINGING IN THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE LETTER EXPLICITLY SAID WOULD NOT BE. MY MAIN PROBLEM HERE IS THAT ANOTHER CUSTOMER, WITH THE EXACT SAME CAR, 2014 FORTE, TOOK HIS CAR IN WITH OVER 200,000 THOUSAND MILES AND GOT IT REPLACED WITH NO PROBLEM. NO MENTION ABOUT MILEAGE OR ANYTHING BUT THE MAIN REASON I WAS DECLINED WAS FOR HAVING 170,000 MILES WHEN THE CUT OFF WAS AT 150,000 AND I HAVE TO PAY AROUND 7,000 TO HAVE IT FIXED. THE RECALL LETTER MENTIONS NOTHING ABOUT NOT BEING ALLOWED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN AFTER 150,000 AND EVEN IF IT DID, DOES KIA GET TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHO THEY HELP?

MY CAR 2014 KIA FORTE EX 2.0L GDI ENGINE WAS UNDER RECALL. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL AND DEALERSHIP SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THERE THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH ENGINE CODE P1326 WHICH IS DUE TO ROD BEARINGS. (WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS RECALL WAS FOR! ) I WANT THIS ENGINE REPLACED JUST AS THE RECALL STATES!

AT APPROXIMATELY 100K MILES IN 2018 CAR BEGAN CONSUMING WHAT I DEEMED MORE THAN NORMAL OIL BETWEEN 4000 MILE SERVICE INTERVALS AS WELL AS BEGAN A SLIGHT KNOCKING SOUND. KIA DEALERSHIP ATTRIBUTED THIS TO 100K MILES AND NORMAL ENGINE WEAR. KNOCKING WENT FROM SLIGHT IRRITATION TO SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG IN THE SUMMER OF 2021 AT 155K. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE ENGINE WAS SHOT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT FOR AROUND $7500. TOOK THE CAR BACK HOME VIA TOW TRUCK AS I DID NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A CAR I HAD JUST PAID OFF FINALLY. DID RESEARCH WHICH LED ME TO BELIEVE KIA HAD SOME KNOWN ENGINE ISSUE DIRECTLY RELATED TO WHAT THIS SEEMED TO BE AND IT WAS BELIEVED THEY WOULD ISSUE A RECALL. HELD ONTO CAR UNTIL RECALL WAS ISSUED AND AGAIN HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER IMMEDIATELY INFORMED ME THAT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AS I WAS 5K MILES OVER THE LIMITS FOR SAID RECALL SC200. MY READING OF THE RECALL STATED THEY WOULD DO REPAIR UP TO AND INCLUDING ENGINE REPLACEMENT AND WARRANT WORK FOR 15 YEARS OR 150K MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST. THEY STATED THIS WAS LIMIT FOR REPAIR AND NOT WARRANTY. CONTACTED KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FOR 3 MONTHS NOW AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I FEEL AT THIS POINT I AM FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE FOR KNOWN ISSUE AND KIA HAS LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE AS I WISH I HAD NOT PURCHASED THE ONE I HAVE NOW IF I HAD KNOWN THEY WERE NOT GOING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. OUT OF THE ROUGHLY 300K VEHICLES I DOUBT MANY WILL MEET THIS CRITERIA IF THAT IS INDEED WHAT IT IS SO THEY WILL LOOK GOOD IN SAYING THEY ARE RECALLING AND FIXING WHEN IN REALITY THEY ARE NOT FIXING MANY AT ALL.

MY VEHICLE BEGAN TICKING AND EMITTING LARGE CLOUDS OF SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. I RECEIVED A LETTER ADVISING ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN A SAFETY RECALL. I TOOK IT TO ED VOYLES KIA IN CHAMBLEE, GA AND WAS TOLD THE ISSUES ARE NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. I FIND THIS DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE. THE CAR HAS APPOX 150,000 MILES. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT BASED ON THE FACT THAT OTHER AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE HAD ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRES AND THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRES HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED. IF THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED, HOW CAN THEY RULE OUT MY VEHICLE? I AM SUPER CONCERNED AND FEEL THAT MY HEALTH AND WELL BEING IS NOT VALUED. PLEASE HELP ME.

UNIVERSITY KIA IN WACO, TEXAS REFUSE TO RECALL 2014 KIA UNDER THE RECALL NOTICE ISSUED MARCH 9, 2021.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING RELENTLESSLY TO GET MY CAR IN FOR THE RECENT RECALL SINCE FEBRUARY 15, 2021. I HAVE MADE 3 APPOINTMENTS OVER THE SPAN OF A MONTH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME IT WAS RESCHEDULED. THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THE RECALL ON MY CAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WHILE THERE'S A RECALL FOR A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE.
KIA FORTE IS BURNING OIL, BOUGHT CAR TO MECHANIC TO TRY AND LOCATE A LEAK, AND FIX WHAT ISSUE THE CAR MAY BE HAVING. A FEW DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR TO THE MECHANICS WHICH THE GDI AND PCV VALVE WAS CHANGED AND/OR REPAIRED. HE NOTED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS WERE FOULED WITH OIL, AND THAT HE COULD NOT TELL WHERE A LEAK WAS OCCURING OR WHY THE ENGINE IS BURNING SO MUCH OIL. AFTER THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP WE RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL STATING THAT KIA WAS HAVING A RECALL ON OUR VEHICLE. RECALL NUMBER 20V750 - WHICH PERTAINED TO THE ISSUE I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE, I THEN CONTACTED KIA AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT, WHICH KIA COULD NOT HOLD DUE TO THEIR SERVERS BEING DOWN, HAD TO RESCHEDULE, RESCHEDULED A SECOND APPOINTMENT, WHICH WAS NOT HELD DUE TO THE SERVERS BEING DOWN STILL. FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL A FEW DAYS LATER THAT THE SERVERS WERE UP AND IF I WOULD LIKE TO SCHEDULE, IN WHICH DID FOR MONDAY MARCH 1ST 2021. WHEN LEAVING THE CAR AT KIA ALL STAR IN DENHAM SPRINGS, LA THE ENGINE WAS TAPPING SOME BUT SHALLOW, WHEN I SPOKE TO KIA THEY STATED THAT THE RECALL MY CAR WAS GOING IN FOR WAS FOR THE UPDATE ON THE KNOCK SENSOR DETECTION SYSTEM, IN WHICH I WAS NEVER SENT THE SECOND LETTER AS PROMISED THAT THE UPDATE WAS AVAILABLE IN THE RECALL LETTER OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL I AM CONTACTING YOU ABOUT. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR IT DID NOT SEEM THE SAME, OR SOUND THE SAME, AND AS A COUPLE DAYS WENT BY THE ENGINE WAS SOUNDING ROUGHER AND LOUDER, CHECKED MY OIL AND HAD TO ADD MORE OIL TO THE CAR AND THE ISSUE OF MISSING OIL IS STILL HAPPENING. I CALLED KIA CONSUMERS AND SPOKE TO A JASON TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THE DISPLEASED WITH THE SERVICES THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE AND THE LACK OF URGENCY IN THE RECALL ISSUES PERTAINING TO MY VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE) AND THAT WAS THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO HANSEN KIA ( 2300 CARRIAGE LOOP SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502) FOR A RECALL INSPECTION BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE TOP PART OF THE ENGINE AND NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL SO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS DENIED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE FAILURE AGAIN WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE BOTTOM PART OF THE ENGINE THAT HAD A BROKEN ROD BEARING RELATING TO THE RECALL. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE KIA DEALER OF THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTIC AND PROVIDED PHOTO EVIDENCE BUT WAS AGAIN DENIED THE RECALL REPAIR. MY 2014 KIA FORTE WITH A 1.8 L ENGINE RANDOMLY STALL AND LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. OIL EMERGENCY LIGHT COMES ON. WE TOOK OUR 2014 KIA FORTE TO OUR MECHANIC. THEY DRAINED THE OIL AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL PANEL AND SAID WE NEED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE THEN TO OUR LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID OUR ROD BEARINGS ARE SCRAPING CAUSING THE METAL SHAVINGS. OUR KIA FORTE HAS 112,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND KIA SAID WE HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AGAINST KIA.

BUT AS I PULLED INTO A DRIVE THRU AND WAS COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR WAS IDLING A LITTLE ROUGH AND THE ENGINE WAS TICKING AND LIGHTLY KNOCKING. ALSO HERE IS A LIST OF CONTINUING ISSUES THAT WE HAVE HAD OVER THE YEARS SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW WITH LIKE 12 MILES ON IT. THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW HAS NEVER WORKED. THE RADIO BLUETOOTH ALWAYS HAD CONNECTIVITY ISSUES. THEN THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AND IS STILL ON. THE TIRE SHOP SAID IT MIGHT BE A DEFECTIVE TIRE SENSOR BACK PASSENGER. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON NOW. THEN THE RADIO ANTENNA FELL OFF THE ROOF, I GLUED IT BACK ON. RECENTLY THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL HAVE NOT BEEN FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, OR NOT AT ALL. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR UNTIL RECENTLY STARTED TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY AT IDLE, THEN STARTED TO MAKE A NOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE ESPECIALLY UNDER LOAD. WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I AM WAITING ON A KNOCK SENSOR SOFTWARE UPDATE RECALL LETTER. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS DUE TO COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND WHEN HE REMOVED THE OLD ENGINE METAL FRAGMENTS AND PIECES WERE FOUND IN THE OIL PAN WHERE THE ENGINE WAS LITERALLY FALLING APART. THIS COST ME A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPLACE AND KIA WAS ABSOLUTELY UNWILLING TO HELP COVER ANY COSTS OF THE REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE ON SO MANY LEVELS. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM KIA IN 2014 AND WHEN I REPLACED THE ENGINE IN 2019 IT HAD 140,000 MILES ON IT. WE GOT TO THE LIGHT A HALF MILE DOWN THE HOUSE AND THE ENGINE MADE A SCRATCHING NOISE AND I STARTED TO LOSE POWER I ALSO FELT MY STEERING WHEEL LOSE POWER STEERING AND THEN I WAS AT THE FRONT OF THE ROW IN THE TURN LANE. MY CAR CRAWLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BUT I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET AND MY PARENTS TOWED IT HOME ON THEIR TRAILER. WE TOOK IT TO AN AUTO SHOP AND THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO CHEAP STOCK BEARINGS AROUND THE CAM. THE BEARINGS GAVE OUT AND THE METAL SHREDDED INSIDE AND WAS SENT THROUGH THE ENGINE. ALL THREE TIMES THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE ACCELERATING. ONCE AFTER SLOWLY GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS. ONCE AFTER BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND GIVING GAS AFTER GOING FROM "REVERSE" TO "DRIVE". AND FINALLY, WHEN SLOWING FOR A TURNING VEHICLE AND ACCELERATING TO GO UP A SLIGHT INCLINE. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER AND DESPITE CHECKING AND TESTING EVERY COMMON CAUSE, HE COULD NOT RECREATE THE SCENARIO. ALSO, HE REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES THROWN AS A RESULT OF THE EVENT.

ENGINE HAS A KNOCKING NOISE AT 88,000 MILES. KIA SAYS A NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE AND ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR KIA OPTIMA'S.
Mileage: 88,000
AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES, A LOUD TICKING NOISE BECOMES EVIDENT. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING AND IN DRIVE, IT DOES NOT MAKE A NOISE WHEN GIVEN GAS IN PARK. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A MECHANIC TODAY AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED AN ENTIRELY NEW ENGINE EVEN THOUGH IT'S A 2014 WITH ONLY 80,000 MILES ON IT. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS: HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/KIA/FORTE/2014/ENGINE/ENGINE.SHTML
Mileage: 80,000
I STARTED THE CAR ONE DAY AND IT STARTED IDLING ROUGH AND SMOKING. WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS A QUART AND A HALF LOW. IT WAS NOT LEAKING OIL. ONCE WE ADDED OIL, IT NO LONGER IDLED ROUGH OR SMOKED. BUT NOW IT HAS A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT ALSO STARTED LOOSING POWER IN CERTAIN INSTANCES. I WILL BE ACCELERATING AND THE CAR WILL START HESITATING. THE CAR ONLY HAD 62,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS STARTED.
Mileage: 62,000
THE CAR HAS BEEN MAKING A FLUTTERING NOISE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC LAST WEEK WHEN THE CAR DRAGGED AFTER STOPPING, AND IT SEEMED THAT IT MIGHT STALL OUT. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND COULD GO AT ANY TIME.
Mileage: 52,780
THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND PINGING. STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IS NOW KNOCKING REALLY BAD. 75K MILES - RUNNING FIN TWO DAYS AGO, HAVE ALL OF MY OIL CHANGES UP TO DATE.
Mileage: 75,000
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AS WELL AS FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY.
Mileage: 86,800
THE CAR IN QUESTION IS A 2014 WITH ABOUT 160K MILES, BOUGHT USED ON 12/2019 FROM DEALER WHO SOLD IT TO PREVIOUS OWNER. LOW OIL LIGHT WAS FLICKERING. CHECKED LEVEL AND NOTHING SHOWED ON DIPSTICK, DESPITE OIL CHANGE AT DEALER BEFORE PURCHASE. ADDED A QUART AND DECIDED TO GO TO OIL CHANGE PLACE. WHILE ACCELERATING IN TO TRAFFIC, ENGINE WAS HESITATING THEN LOST NEARLY ALL POWER ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD RATTLING (LIKE MARBLES) FROM ENGINE. MANAGED TO GET OFF ROAD WITH ENGINE GETTING INCREASINGLY LOUDER AND VIBRATING BADLY, CLEARLY OUT OF BALANCE SOMEHOW. ENGINE STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER TOWING TO MECHANIC, THEY ALSO NOTED THAT IT WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH. CHECKED OIL AND NOTED THAT IT WAS FULL OF METAL SHAVINGS. I'VE ATTACHED A PHOTO OF THE OIL CONTROL VALVE PACKED WITH THESE SHAVINGS. TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT ENGINE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE 2.0L ENGINE IN THIS CAR IS THE EXACT SAME ENGINE BUILT IN THE EXACT SAME TIME PERIOD THAT KIA WAS FORCED TO RECALL (SC147) IN OTHER MODELS BUT FOR NO APPARENT EARTHLY REASON IT WAS NOT INCLUDED! HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? WHY WASN'T THE ENGINE RECALLED ACROSS THE BOARD? ALL SYMPTOMS NOTED IN THE COMPLAINTS HERE AND IN THE RECALL MATCH: SUDDEN LOW OIL LEVEL, LOSS OF POWER, METAL SHAVINGS WORKING THEIR MAGIC THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE INTERNALS, CATASTROPHIC FAILURE SOON AFTER. REPLACEMENT ENGINES SEEM TO HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED AND AREN'T AVAILABLE IN THE REBUILD MARKET. I'VE ALREADY SUNK MONEY ON TOWING AND DIAGNOSTICS ON THE THING, AND I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO GET WHAT IS BASICALLY A BRICK RIGHT NOW TOWED BACK TO THE HOUSE. I'M GOING TO TRY ONCE AGAIN TO GET THROUGH TO SOMEBODY AT KIA CUSTOMER SUPPORT, BUT I THINK WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT'S GOING TO TURN OUT, DON'T WE?
Mileage: 164,000
ENGINE FAILING. CYLINDER #3 IS MAKING NOISE. NO NOISE WHEN SWITCHED OFF. INTERNAL PART HAS BEGUN TO FAIL; DEALER RECOMMENDS THAT REPLACE ENGINE. NO KIA WARRANTY COVERAGE BECAUSE WE ARE SECOND OWNERS.

AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES, A LOUD TICKING NOISE BECOMES EVIDENT. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING AND IN DRIVE, IT DOES NOT MAKE A NOISE WHEN GIVEN GAS IN PARK. AFTER MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH 2014 FORTE GDI ENGINES AND THE FACT THAT THE 2014 FORTES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, I DECIDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT FOR FEAR THAT MY ENGINE WILL SOON SEIZE LIKE THE MANY THAT I'VE READ ONLINE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT AND IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY.
Mileage: 61,000
I PURCHASED MY 2014 KIA FORTE EX USED WITH 96,000 MILES. IT HAD A CLEAN CARFAX REPORT AND RAN GREAT FOR THE FIRST 4.000 MILES. THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING WITH ABOUT 100,000 MILES. THE CAR CONTINUED TO KNOCK SO I TOOK CAR TO MY MECHANIC. HE STATED ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE SUGGESTED TO TAKE TO MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE. I CONTACTED KIA AND THEY SAID BRING IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS. IT WAS DETERMINED BY KIA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE MOTOR NEEDED REPLACING. THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING KIA WOULD DO SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 100,000 MILES. ONE OF THE SERVICE REPS TRIED TO FIND A WAY TO HELP ME BUT INDICATED THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO.

IN OCTOBER 2019 I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ENGINE ISSUES AND ON 11/16/19 I HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE ENGINE OF MY 5 DOOR 2014 KIA FORTE AT NIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD FM528 IN FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS. I HAD TO TOW THE VEHICLE 3 TIMES AT THE COST OF APPROX. $80 PER TOW AND SPENT AN ADDITIONAL $186 TO HAVE IT EVALUATED BY A MECHANIC. WE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND DISCOVERED A NUMBER OF VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING "PISTON FLAP" WHICH IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF THE CYLINDERS. EVEN THOUGH MY ENGINE IS WARRANTED FOR 100K MILES AND THE MILEAGE WAS AT 88K, KIA MOTORS REFUSED TO COVER THE ADDITIONAL TOWING EXPENSE TO GET IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP (GAY FAMILY KIA IN DICKINSON, TX) FOR INSPECTION. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION SINCE THAT TIME. TODAY, 1/7/2020 THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENGINE WOULD BE "REPAIRED" NOT COMPLETELY REPLACED. DURING THIS ENTIRE TIME KIA DENIED ME A LOANER CAR. AS A SINGLE MOM, (WHICH DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE) WE HAD TO TAKE MY COLLEGE STUDENT SON'S 1999 TRUCK TO VISIT MY FAMILY 2 HOURS AWAY AND IT HAD AN ALTERNATOR FAILURE AND HAD AN ADDITIONAL TOW BECAUSE OF NO LOANER CAR. ON 12/27 I HAD KNEE SURGERY AND THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAD TO DRIVE WAS A 1997 MIATA THAT WAS A STANDARD. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE STANDARD DUE TO MY SURGERY AND MISSED AN ADDITIONAL 2 DAYS OF WORK. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND PUTS CONSUMERS AT GREAT RISK OF INJURY AND CRASH ON PUBLIC ROADS. KIA HAS DONE EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO CIRCUMVENT AN ACCEPTABLE REMEDY TO THE SITUATION SO I AM NOW TURNING TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. PLEASE HELP! WILL PROVIDE WRITTEN REPORTS WHEN KIA DECIDES TO GIVE THEM TO ME. I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THE SIMPLE REPLACEMENT OF PARTS THAT WILL OBVIOUSLY FAIL ONCE THE VEHICLE PASSES 100K IN MILEAGE.

ON JULY 17,2019 MY KIA FORTE 2014 STOP ON I-75 NORTHBOUND IN PERRY, GA WITH A 18 WHEELER ON MY TAIL @80MPH. I HAD NO POWER IT JUST CUT OFF. THIS WAS AFTER A OIL CHANGE @ WALMART IN CORDELE, GA 13 DAYS EARLIER THERE WAS NO OIL AND IT HAD RUN OUT FROM THE FILTER. BOTH ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC @ HUTCHINSON KIA AND AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED MECHANIC. DEALER COULDN'T DETERMINE LEAKAGE,SECOND SOUND THE ENGINE WAS CRACKED CAUSED PROBLEM. IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MY DAUGHTER HER LIFE WAS IN DANGER IN FAST HIGH VOLUME INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE HAS A DEFICIENCY IN THESE GDI ENGINES,SHOULD RECALLED. I WAS TOLD BY A RELIABLE SOUCE THAT BOTH THE KIA'S AND THEIR SISTER COMPANY SHARE THE SAME ENGINE AND THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH BOTH ENGINE TYPE GDI 2014 MODEL KIA FORTE AND OTHER MODELS WITH THIS KIND OF ENGINE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA FORTE. WHILE DRIVING, A TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND ALMOST STALLED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALM KIA SOUTH (4310 JONESBORO RD, UNION CITY, GA 30291, (678) 827-8900) FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED BECAUSE OIL WAS BURNING IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, ENGINE DIED AND THEN RESTARTED. THE CAR ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND IT WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT, SO MANUALLY SHIFTED AND THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE BEGAN TO RISE SO, PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND CALLED AAA TO TOW THE CAR TO A DEALER. KIA DEALER ADVISED THAT CYLINDER 3 ROD BEARING FAILURE OCCURRED WHICH SUCKED ALL THE OIL INTO THE ENGINE (THEY SAID THAT IS HOW THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS). WE JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 6 WEEKS EARLIER, BUT I COULD NOT AFFORD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WEI HAD A TUNE UP AND OIL CHANGE 2 WEEKS EARLIER AND WE FAITHFULLY CHECK THE OIL TO ENSURE IT IS AS EXPECTED. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS NO WAY WE COULD HAVE AVOIDED THE ENGINE FAILURE, AND WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE COSTS WAS $5,111.96 TO REPLACE. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE AND I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. NOW WE HAVING OVER $12,000 BETWEEN BUYING IT AND FIXING IT. FAILURE ON A FREEWAY IS UNACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY DURING RUSH HOUR. KIA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ENGINES AS THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. MAYBE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE REPORT THESE ISSUES, THEY WILL BE FORCED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND REIMBURSE PEOPLE LIKE US THAT CANNOT AFFORD THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MILES PER HOUR, MY CAR SHUT OFF AND ALL THE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD WENT OUT AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I TRY TO RESTART MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AS I GOT IT OFF THE ROAD, I TRY TO RESTART THE CAR WITH NO LUCK AND WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THE SMOKE SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE.

AFTER REPAIRING MY CAR THE FIRST TIME 3 MONTHS AGO FOR SOME MAJOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUES CAUSING THE CAR NOT TO RUN, MY CAR HAS NOW COMPLETELY SEIZED UP. SINCE MY CAR HAS HIT 120K MILES IT HAS BEEN CONSUMING AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF OIL. THERE WERE NO LEAKS THAT COULD BE IDENTIFIED AND NO MAJOR ISSUES AT THE TIME EXPLAINING THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY PUT QUARTS AND QUARTS OF OIL IN THIS VEHICLE AND HAD REPAIRED THE CAT CONVERTER ISSUE ALONG WITH REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE WIRING AND THE NORMAL TUNEUPS. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YESTERDAY I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING AS IT NORMALLY DOES SO I PULLED OVER AND TO MY SURPRISE THE OIL I HAD JUST PUT IN IT WAS COMPLETELY GONE, NO LEAKS, NO LIGHTS, NO WARNINGS, NO INDICATION AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. I THEN PUT 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE CAR AND DROVE HOME AND REALIZED THE CAR WAS RATTLING A LITTLE BIT, I LET IT SIT IN PARK WHILE ON AND THEN HEADED OUT DOWN THE ROAD WHERE THE CAR MADE A LOUD HISS NOISE AND JERKED ACROSS THE ROAD. MY ENGINE HAD SEIZED UP WITH NO EXPLANATION AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE WITH A SEIZED ENGINE AND STILL OWE 7K ON IT. I REALLY HOPE THAT THESE YEAR/MAKE/MODEL IS LOOKED INTO BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SPENT THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A BRAND NEW CAR.

CAR HAD BEGAN BURNING THROUGH OIL RAPIDLY BUT UPON INSPECTION AT OIL CHANGES, NO LEAK OR CAUSE COULD BE DETECTED. THE OIL LIGHT INDICATOR NEVER CAME ON EITHER. THE CAR WOULD BEGIN TICKING WHILE DRIVING, AND NOTICEABLY DROVE DIFFERENTLY BUT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME ON. ON A CLEAR DAY WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE GAVE A LOUD AND FORCEFUL JERK AND POPPING SOUND, AND PROMPTLY LOST POWER AND SPEED, AND THE BRAKES QUIT WORKING. I WAS FORTUNATE TO PULL OFF AND USE EBRAKE TO STOP CAR ONCE COASTED TO A SAFER SPOT. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. THE CAR HAD ONCE AGAIN BURNED THROUGH ALL OIL WITH NO INDICATION FROM THE PANEL, AND I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES, THIS MAKE AND MODEL, WITH NO RECALL BEING DONE; HOWEVER, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BECAUSE OF SAME ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE IN OTHER KIA MODELS.

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND TAKEN TO WAGNER KIA OF SHREWSBURY (730 BOSTON TURNPIKE, SHREWSBURY, MA 01545, (508) 581-5700) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED UNLESS IT OCCURRED WHILE IT WAS BEING TEST DRIVEN. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE SIX TIMES. I HAVE A KIA FORTE EX GDI PURCHASED USED FROM CAR MAX OF WHITEMARSH, MARYLAND. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2019, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD TICKING NOISE. I ALLOWED THE CAR TO WARM UP. AS I DROVE AND REACHED 30MPH, ON CITY STREET, THE NOISE GREW LOUDER. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL STICK IT WAS DRY. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND AM NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER ONE UNTIL MY CAR REACHED 84,319 MILES. MY CAR HAS EXACTLY 81,6000 MILES ON IT TODAY (SEPTEMBER 30, 2019 OR 2/13/2020 WHICH EVER COMES FIRST). MY CHECK OIL LIGHT OR ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON TO INDICATE MY OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I PURCHASED OIL AND FILLED UP MY CAR. THE NOISE IS SOFTER NOW BUT IS STILL THERE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR AN ISSUE DEALING WITH SOMETHING THAT MAY KEEP THE CAR FROM PASSING EMISSION TEST. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT BOB BELL KIA (WHO ALWAYS SERVICES MY VEHICLE) IN ESSEX MARYLAND ON OCTOBER 17TH, 2019, TO CORRECT THAT ISSUE. I NOTIFIED THEM OF THE NOICE AND LACK OF OIL WITH NO INDICATION OF SUCH FROM THE CARS DASHBOARD. THEY WILL CHECK IT OUT ON THE 17TH WHEN I BRING THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALL ISSUE. AFTER READING SOME COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE I HAVE, I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED IF THEY TELL ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I STILL OWE $11,107.64 ON THE CAR AND WILL NOT BE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ANYMORE UNTIL THE MECHANIC CAN PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF FAULTY ENGINES AND FIRE HAZARDS WHY IS THE 2014 KIA FORTE EX GDI NOT INCLUDED IN AN ENGINE RECALL OR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT IS ALREADY AGAINST KIA FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUES IN THEIR SORENTO AND OTHER MODELS? WHO CAN I TURN TO FOR HELP WITH THIS ISSUE SINCE I HAVE A VEHICLE I CAN NOT SAFELY DRIVE BUT STILL MUST PAY ON?

I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE TO DO SO IN A SAFE MANNER. AFTER ABOUT ONE MINUTE OF CONTINUOUSLY ACCELERATION, THE CAR BEGIN TO MOVE. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF KIA IN THE PAST, THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL KIA DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESOLUTION. THIS REMAINS TO BE AN EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN, THAT COULD BECOME DEADLY. ON 08-03-2019, IN AN UNRELATED INCIDENT I WITNESSED A KIA SOUL BURN TO THE GROUND AFTER CATCHING FIRE; SIMPLY PUT THESE VEHICLES APPEAR TO BE VERY UNSAFE FOR OPERATION.

2014 KIA FORTE EX 2.0 LITER GDI ENGINE HAS KNOCKING NOISES. WHEN I TOOK IT TO GROSSINGER KIA OF LINCOLNWOOD, IL THEY QUOTED OVER $4,300 + LABOR DUE TO METAL SHRAPNEL IN THE ENGINE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SHORT BLOCK OF THE ENGINE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE I WAS NOT THE FIRST OWNER AND THAT THE ENGINE WAS ONLY COVERED UNTIL 60,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AROUND NOVEMBER 2018 WHEN IT HAD AROUND 61,000 MILES BECAUSE IT HAD A CLEAN CARFAX HISTORY BUT I NOTICED THE KNOCKING NOISES BECAME INCREASINGLY LOUDER UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. I'VE SEARCHED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THAT HYUNDAI/KIA HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THEIR GDI ENGINES AS THERE ARE CURRENTLY LAWSUITS CONCERNING THEIR ENGINES FAILING DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I BELIEVE THIS CAR ALSO HAS A DEFECT ENGINE AND AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE TO COMPEL THEM TO REPAIR THEIR DEFECTIVE ENGINES.

ENGINE KNOCKING AND THEY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. CAR HAD 86,000 MILES. DROVE CAR TO WORK NEXT DAY AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING HOME ON BUSY HIGHWAY. KIA CORP KNOWS OF A PROBLEM WITH FUEL PUMP AND LINES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED ONCE ENGINE IS REPLACED BUT FAILED TO LET THEIR DEALERSHIPS BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. ALSO WHY IS THE FORTE NOT ON RECALL LIST AS MANY KIA FORTES ARE ALSO CATCHING ON FIRE DUE TO ENGINE/ ENGINE REPAIRS.

EXCESS ENGINE WEAR MAY BE INDICATIVE OF OTHER MODELS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED, CAR IS UNDER 100,000 MILES AS OF TODAY. EXCESSIVE ENGINE KNOCK CAUSED CONCERN AND KIA CLAIMS IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, BUT I HAVE NOTICED QUITE A FEW OTHER MODELS ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, JUST NOT INCLUDING THE FORTE YET. CAR KNOCKS BOTH SITTING STILL AND IN MOTION, KNOCKS FASTER DURING DRIVING.

IT STARTED WITH A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE LIKE IT NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE BUT IT HAD JUST HAD ONE. I TOOK IT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE. THEY SAID THAT THE ROD BEARINGS WERE WEARING DOWN AND RESULTING IN METAL CONTAMINATION IN THE ENGINE. THEY SAID I NEEDED MY ENGINE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY OR RISK IT LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. SUDDENLY I HEARD LIKE A FAN NOISE, THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF! I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS SMOKE WAS FILLING THE CABIN. I GOT OUT AND WENT AROUND FRONT AND FLAMES WERE COMING OUT BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE FENDER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I CALLED 911. ONE POLICE AND 2 FIRE TRUCKS SHOWED UP IN NOTHING FLAT! THE FIRE WAS MOVING INTO THE CAB. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS! AFTER MY OWN RESEARCH I FIRMLY BELIEVE IT WAS THE COOLING FAN RESISTOR. THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE NOISE I HEARD AND THE FIRE.

TAKATA RECALL, THE INDICATOR GAUGES/SENSORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING LOW OIL PRESSURE, AS WELL AS OTHERS ARE CURRENTLY NOT WORKING AND MY ENGINE IS BURNING OIL IN EXCESS OF MANUFACTURES SPECIFICATIONS. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE IS THAT THIS CAN CAUSE MY ENGINE TO SEIZE OR CATCH ON FIRE WHICH IS AN IMMENSE SAFETY CONCERN. PER THE YORK PA KIA DEALER, THE OIL WAS EMPTY THE OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR NEVER ILLUMINATED. IT WASN'T UNTIL MY CAR WAS DEEMED EMPTY THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY DEALER AND YORK KIA (SEPT 18) CLAIMED NO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE AS A RESULT. (VEHICLE PASSED EMISSIONS/SAFETY TWO WEEKS LATER - MONROE MUFFLER & BREAK, YORK PA) AS MY CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO BE LEAKING OIL, SUBSEQUENT VIGILANCE BY ME REVEALED THAT MY CAR WAS BURNING OIL. I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT KIA AND THEIR LOUD ENGINES DUE TO BEING AN GDI ENGINE. BUT THIS WAS NOT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THIS WAS A SLAPPING TYPE OF NOISE THAT IS NOT RELATIVE TO THE ENGINE RPMS. AFTER THINKING IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN BEING LOOSE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE HAS WAS THEY CALL ENGINE SLAP. AFTER READING AND SEEING A LOT OF VIDEOS ONLINE ABOUT THIS, THE ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THAT THE PISTON SKIRTS ARE TO SHORT. REPLACING THE ENGINE WITH NEW OR REMANUFACTURED IS ONLY GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. NOT THRILLED THAT MY 2014 KIA FORTE EX WITH THE 2.0 HAS ONLY 76000 MILES AND NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. EVEN CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY ARE REPLACING A LOT OF THE 2.0 ENGINES AND OF COURSE THE 2.4 DUE TO THE RECALL ON THOSE. OF COURSE THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE 2.0. THIS NOISE OCCURRED THE DAY OF MY OIL CHANGE AND WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH. NO LIGHTS, NO WARNING. AND YES THE OIL LEVEL WAS GOOD. MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC.

STARTED BACK DRIVING AND KNOCKING INCREASED AND THEN ENGINE SHUT OFF CAUSING US TO COAST FROM 60MPH ON A 4 LANE ROAD. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER.

TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN HEARD A BANG IN THE MOTOR PULLED OVER AND HEARD KNOCKING IN MOTOR. TURNED MOTOR OFF AND CHECKED FLUIDS AND ALL WE'RE NORMAL.. I HAVE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE ALREADY AND WITH THE RECENT RECALLS ANNOUNCED I BELIEVE MY CAR IS ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG UNTIL THE NOISE HAPPENED. AND ONLY 74000 MILES ON VEHICLE

AT APPROXIMATELY 63,000 MILES I BEGAN HEARING A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE AND NOTICED HESITANCY AS THE ENGINE SHIFTED GEARS. ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE. THE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE WOULD CONTACT KIA TO DETERMINE IF THE ENGINE REPAIR WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. YESTERDAY I WAS TOLD IT MAY BE AN ENGINE ROD. IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION. I MENTIONED THAT KIA HAD RECALLED KIA OPTIMA FOR SIMILAR ENGINE AND WAS RUDELY ADVISED THAT THE FORTE AND OPTIMA HAD DIFFERENT ENGINES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA FORTE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (SHAWNEE MISSION KIA USED CARS, 7810 SHAWNEE MISSION PARKWAY, OVERLAND PARK, KS 66202) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

HAD RECALL REPAIRED ON 01-26-18 & HAD CHECK ELECTRICAL WIRE IN PHOTO, & WHY DID NOT START WHEN TURN KEY. NO ONE COULD FIND ANYTHING INCLUDING PERSONAL MECHANIC. FOUND KIA FORTE HAD MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS & THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR WITH 4 YEAR OLD CAR. OCCURRED 2ND TIME ON 07-20-18 & WHEN WIRE TOUCHED TO "TIGHTEN," CAR STARTED. FEELS LIKE WANTS TO CUT OFF & YOU CAN FEEL VIBRATION, BUT SEEMS TO KEEP GOING. SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER RUNNING THEN PARKING, BUT ALL LIGHTS & BELLS ARE WORKING, SO NOT BATTERY. SITUATION OCCURRED PRIOR TO RECALL FOR REPAIR & WAS TOLD TO TELL KIA SHOP. YOU HAVE TO CHECK MANUALLY, NOT DEPEND ON COMPUTER AS THAT IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PROGRAMMER. IT CAN MAKE MISTAKES, TOO. ALL TIMES VEHICLE WAS PARKED AFTER OPERATING. IT COULD CUT OUT IN MIDDLE OF INTERSTATE & CAUSE SERIOUS OR DEADLY ACCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 KIA FORTE. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE CONTACT DETECTED AN ABNORMAL ODOR. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIREFIGHTERS INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT'S SIGNIFICANT OTHER SUFFERED BURNS ON THE RIGHT HAND THUMB, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES. SUCH AS TURNING ON THE BLINKER MAKES ALL LIGHTS GO OUT IN CAR THEN TURN BACK ON AS WELL AS REPLACING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ENGINE: SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT SHAKES AND VIBRATIONS OFTEN TIMES. THE SAME WAY THE KIA OPTIMA ENGINE THETA LL ENGINE HAD TO BE RECALLED DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE THIS ENGINE HAS SIMILAR ISSUES AND IT OVERALL ISN'T THE BEST CAR WITH A PASSENGER SAFETY RATING OF JUST 2 OR 3 STARS. KIA NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND RECALL THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE UNSAFE. MY ENGINE SHOULD NOT VIBRATE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO THE POINT WHERE I'M VIBRATING OBNOXIOUSLY. ALSO THE ELECTRICAL HAZARDS ARE UNREAL ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKE LIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES. KIA. LOOK INTO THIS AND FIX IT. THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR NOT.

MY DAUGHTER HAD A CAR CRASH ON JULY 22, 2017 DUE TO BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SHE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN TUSCALOOSA, AL AND THERE WERE NO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THANK GOD. HER CAR HYDROPLANED AND HIT A RAILING. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. UNKNOWN ABOUT THE FAULT OR PROBLEM THAT CREATED THE UNSAFE CONDITION. HER CAR IS AT A BODY SHOP IN ALABAMA SO I WILL OBTAIN REPAIR INVOICES AND POLICE ACCIDENT REPORT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT HAVE CAR INSURANCE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA FORTE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. HOMETOWN KIA (111 MIDTOWN AVE, MT HOPE, WV) DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000.

I HAD REPORT THE ISSUE TO KIA OF TUPELO, MS. MY CARD HAS HAD TWO RECENT ISSUES. THE FIRST ONE BEING THAT UPON ACCELERATION, WHITE SMOKE HAS BEEN NOTED TWICE. THE CAR HAS STALLED OUT TWICE UPON TAKE OFF ON THE HIGHWAY/INTERSTATE. THIS CONCERN ME GREATLY! ON MY MOST RECENT OIL CHANGE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT I HAVE AT LEAST TWO QUARTS OF OIL SHORTAGE, WITH NO LEAKS NOTED.

THE CAR MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO HONOR THE ADVERTISED WARRANTY FOR VEHICLE [XXX]. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE INTERSTATE 5 SOUTHBOUND. IT EXPERIENCED A KIND OF ROAD HAZARD LIKE A SMALL ROCK SOMEWHERE BETWEEN EXITS 210 AND 205. THE IMPACT WAS MINIMAL AND MADE ONLY A SMALL NOISE AGAINST THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO THINK THE VEHICLE SUFFERED DAMAGE OR NEEDED TO STOP. HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER 3 OR 4 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP IMMEDIATELY ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE BEFORE EXIT 205. THE VEHICLE'S OIL PAN WAS PUNCTURED, AND THE ENGINE OIL WAS DRAINED OUT. THE ENGINE HAD SUFFERED CRITICAL DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP IN GLENDALE, CA. REPAIR COSTS WERE QUOTED TO BE $7,332.63. KIA DEEMED THE REPAIRS NON-WARRANTABLE DUE TO THE DAMAGE BEING EXTERNAL. KIA OFFERED GOODWILL ASSISTANCE AT A REDUCED PRICE OF $4532.00. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE COMPLETELY COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE COMPLAINT IS FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE REPAIR DESCRIBED ABOVE ($4532.00). THE COMPLAINT IS AGAINST THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE OIL PAN AND THE ENGINE WHICH BECAME CRITICALLY DAMAGED FROM SUCH A MINIMAL IMPACT. THE COMPLAINT IS ALSO AGAINST THE WARNING SYSTEM OF THE CAR WHICH FAILED TO NOTIFY THE ENGINE OIL LEAKING AT SUCH A HIGH RATE IN A TIMELY MANNER BEFORE THE VEHICLE SUFFERED CRITICAL DAMAGE AND PUT THE PASSEN GEARS AT RISK. TOOK MY KIA FORTE 2014 IN FOR AN INSPECTION, AND INSTEAD RECEIVED AN ECU UPGRADE DUE TO SOME KIA CAMPAIGN SC150. AFTER THE UPGRADE, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES. THE VERY SAME DAY AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP, MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL AND BLOW A LOT OF WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST. I WAS PULLED OVER BY A STRANGER WHO INFORMED ME OF THAT THE WHITE SMOKE EXHAUSTING BLINDED HIS VIEW. KIA HAS BEEN DISREGARDING THIS SAFETY CONCERN.

2014 KIA FORTE EXPERIENCED AN UNEXPLAINED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FIRE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A STEADY 40MPH IN 40 DEG. F. WEATHER. ALL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS SHOWED NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE, AND THE OWNER DID NOT PERFORM ANY RECENT SERVICE WORK. NO SYMPTOMS SUCH AS ENGINE LIGHTS OR SOUNDS WERE OBSERVED UNTIL THE CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER AND CAUGHT FIRE ABOUT 60 SECONDS LATER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER SMOKE WAS OBSERVED BY THE DRIVER WHO WAS STOPPING THE CAR.

I WAS CHANGING THE OIL ON MY CAR AND NOTICED THAT A HOSE BELOW THE CAR BROKE AND WAS LEAKING SOME TYPE OF FLUID. I NOTICED THIS ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO, BUT THE ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR MUCH LONGER.

2014 KIA FORTE 63000 MILES SHUTS OFF AT RANDOM SPEEDS AND WHEN STOPING OR TURNING THIS IS A EXTREAM SAFETY ISSUE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS DEALER CANT FIGURE IT OUT AND WONT WORK ON IT ANYMORE ITS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS ISSUE 4 TIMES A WEEK WITH NO HELP

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, AND OFTEN TIMES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND TURNS OFF. AT THIS POINT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, OIL LIGHT AND OTHERS COME ON. THE VEHICLE THEN NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PARK, AND TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTS WITH NO ISSUE. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. FUCILLO KIA IS ALSO REFUSING TO HONOR THE WARRANTY AND CONTINUE WORKING ON THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ISSUE IS IDENTIFIED. A FLIGHT RECORDER BOX WAS PUT IN THE VEHICLE TO RECORD THE ISSUE IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AGAIN ON ONE OF THE OCCASIONS THEY GAVE ME BACK THE VEHICLE STATING THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE DID OCCUR AGAIN WITH FLIGHT RECORDER BOX IN PLACE BUT THEY SAID IT DID NOT SEND ANY SIGNAL STATING THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THEM 6 TIMES AND AT THIS POINT THEY WILL NO LONGER WORK ON THE VEHICLE DESPITE IT BEING WELL WITHIN THE 100,000 MILE/10 YEAR WARRANTY. THE ISSUE STARTED AT 15085 MILES AND NOW AT 19,000 MILES THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

I HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS ,THE FIRST TIME WHEN I WENT TO TRY AND START MY CAR UP AND IT WOULD NOT START UP. KIA REPLACE MY FUEL PUMP,BELIEVING THAT WAS THE ISSUE. THE SECOND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS A PROBLEM SO IT WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. *TR

I DISCOVERED ALONG WITH OTHER KIA FORTE/K3 OWNERS THAT WHEN IT RAINS, WHETHER IT IS MODERATE OR HEAVY, MASSIVE WATER LEAKS INSIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND NOT MOVE AN INCH AND STILL I FOUND WATER ALL OVER THE ENGINE(AFTER RAINY DAY), BATTERY TERMINAL, FUSE CASE, AIR FILTER CASE, AND MAJORITY OF LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE ROOM AS WELL. DEALER TOLD NOT TO WORRY, BUT I'VE HAD MANY CARS IN THE PAST THAT NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS FLAW. I'M AFRAID THIS CAN LEAD TO MASSIVE ENGINE/RUST POSSIBLY FIRE FROM MASSIVE WATER DROPLETS AND HIGH TEMPERATURE OF ENGINE AND ALL KINDS OF CONNECTORS THAT IS EXPOSED AS A RESULT OF THIS. I PLEAD NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS CRITICAL AND DANGEROUS FLAW POSED BY KIA AND THEIR IRRESPONSIBLE SOLUTION OF IGNORING PASSENGER SAFETY. AS OF NOW, I STOPPED DRIVING IN THE RAIN, AND THIS IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT AS A WORKING COMMUTER. I WOULD FIRST TEST THE PART WHERE WINDOW WIPERS MEET AND POUR SOME WATER THERE, AND THEN I WOULD USE PRESSURE WASH TO JUST SPRAY THE HOOD AND YOU'LL FIND WHAT I MEAN. MODERATE RAIN SHOULD NOT CREATE THIS MUCH WATER LEAKS ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THANK YOU. BEST TO CONTACT ME VIA EMAIL IF NEEDED. *TR

ON 2 OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS STALLED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN.THE FIRST TIME IT WAS IN APRIL 2014.2ND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AROUND JULY 29TH 2014. I FIRST REPORT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BACK IN MARCH WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE. THEY WOULD NOT PUT IT DOWN ON THE PAPER WORK TO LOOK AT IT SINCE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEN REPORTED IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS KIA. THE NEW DEALERSHIP DID PUT IT DOWN ON PAPERWORK. BUT SINCE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM,THEY WOULD NOT LOOK INTO IT FURTHER. ALSO HAVE REPORTED A ENGINE NOISE TO THE FIRST DEALERSHIP. THEY FIRST TOLD ME IT WAS A STANDARD NOISE. SO WE STARTED GETTING VIDEOS OF THE NOISE. THEY THEN SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE SAME DAY THAT WE PICKED THE CAR BACK UP FROM THE ENGINE BEING REPLACED WE HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR. SOME HOW THE RIGHT DRIVE AXLE GOT BROKE. THEY SAID THEY DID NOT WORK AROUND THAT AREA.SO THEN THAT MEANS THAT THEY COMMITTED FRAUD BY FALSIFYING DOCS WHEN THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE. 2 DAYS AFTER FINALLY GETTING THE CAR BACK THE ENGINE NOISE CAME BACK.NOW I GOT TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT LOOK AT THE CAR UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON OR THE CAR COMES IN ON A TOW TRUCK. NOW THE BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE CAR JUST STALLING WHILE DRIVING? WHAT HAPPENS NOW IF WE GET INTO A ACCIDENT.THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. KIA NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A CAR WITH LESS THAN 14,000 MILES ON IT TO JUST UP AND STALL. I AM TIRED OF HEARING EVERYTHING IS STANDARD. KIA IS FRAUD THEY DO NOT WANT TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY THAT THEY SELL. *TR

I HAVE A 2014 KIA FORTE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2013 ACQUIRED SEVERAL DAYS THE UNIT IS STARTED HAVING A VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE. THESE VIBRATIONS ARE FELT THROUGHOUT THE CAR AND WHEN IN LOW OR STOPPED. I TOOK HIM TO THE SERVICE CENTER WHERE YOU BUY AND SERVICE TECHNICIANS ALWAYS TELL ME THAT NO FAULTS EVERYTHING IS WORKING WELL, THE VIBRATION THAT I DESCRIBE IS NORMAL IN THESE CARS, THIS DUE TO THE TECHNOLOGY OF MOTOR BRACKET. AS OF TODAY I'M NOT HAPPY AND I UNDERSTAND THAT THE DRIVE IS FAILING. I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE EXPLANATION GIVEN ME THE SERVICE CENTER. A NEW CAR ZERO MILES PER MORE TECHNOLOGY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE MUCH VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE. FURTHER DETAILS OF THE UNIT THAT ARE WRONG ARE THE STRANGE SOUNDS OF THE VALVES AND THE SOUND ENGINE BRAKING. *TR
