TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROGRESSING NOISE HEARD NEAR THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS PREMATURELY FRACTURED AND WERE HELD TOGETHER ONLY BY TWO BOLTS. THE PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE DEALER WAS TO FURTHER INSPECT THE OTHER THREE TIRES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V232000 (WHEELS). THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHO WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND IF THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WAS LEAVING OUR LOCAL WALMART ; AND WHEN ALMOST TO THE INTERSECTION; FELT THE CAR WHEEL WOBBLE LIKE I GOT A FLAT TIRE. SO I STOPPED AND GOT OUT AND LOOKED; DIDN'T SEE ANY FLATS ; STARTED TO GO AND A THUNK ; AND THEN I COULDN'T MOVE; BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE POINTING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME; AND HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO LOOK AND SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER. I SURE AM GLAD I WASN'T GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT THAT TIME; IS WHERE I WAS GOING . *TR

WE HAVE A 2005 SEDONA WHICH WE LOVE. IT'S BEEN A GREAT CAR FOR US. UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH IT FOR SOME TIME NOW. OUR MAIN PROBLEM AND CONCERN RIGHT NOW IS WITH THE FRONT END STRUTS AND OR ALIGNMENT. THE NOISE AND KNOCKING AT LOW SPEEDS (ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STAND-STILL) IS TROUBLESOME, BUT MORE TROUBLESOME IS THAT WE CONSTANTLY NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT TIRES. WE ARE GOING ON OUR 4TH SET OF NEW TIRES (FOR THE FRONT ALONE) DUE TO ALIGNMENT ISSUES. NO BALANCING OR ALIGNMENT WORK HAS HELPED. AFTER HOURS OF RESEARCH ON LINE, IT SEEMS THAT THE FRONT BRAKES MAY BE UNDERSIZED CAUSING THE ROTORS TO OVER HEAT AND WARP. THE STRUTS ALSO SEEM TO HAVE A WRONG TYPE OF MOUNT SYSTEM AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO BE FOUND ON THE WEB FROM PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THERE IS A TSB ON THE TOPIC (CHA015) REGARDING NEW STRUT MOUNTS, BUT WE ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT NOW. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH HE FELT A VIBRATION WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. WHEN HE PULLED OVER HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END SUSPENSION HAD FALLEN APART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS THE CONTACTS DRIVING HABIT THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE FRONT END SUSPENSION FAILING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED FOUR TIMES AND IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE FIFTH PART TO BE INSTALLED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND THE KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY WHICH HAS FALLEN APART FIVE TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,442.

FAILURE OF RIGHT PASSENGER REAR HUB, A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE 2003-2005 KIA SEDONAS. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, I WAS ALMOST IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT FOR THE REASON THAT MY HUB UNIT BROKE ON MAY WAY TO WORK ON THE HIGH WAY. THIS HAPPENED ON SATURDAY 16, 2010. *TR

ALL THAT KIA WILL DO IS REPLACE THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS UNTIL THE WARRANTY IS OUT THEN THE CONSUMER PAYS. AFTER HOURS OF RESEARCH ON LINE THE FRONT BREAKS ARE UNDERSIZED, CAUSING THE ROTORS TO OVER HEAT AND WARP. THE STRUTS SEEM TO HAVE A WRONG TYPE OF MOUNT SYSTEM AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE BRAKE ISSUES...REPLACED FRONT ROTOR AND PADS 3 TIMES, AND REPLACED FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS TWICE. VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT WITH 7,226 MILES AND NOW HAS 20,000 MILES. THE BELTS WERE REPLACED TWICE AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS FIXED TWICE SO FAR. VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT AT ZEISER MOTORS IS ST. PETERS MO AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEEPS TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *TR

THE 2005 KIA SEDONA I OWN HAS BEEN PLAGUED BY NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. THE FIRST OF WHICH IS A BRAKE MALFUNCTION. IT WAS THUMPING WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS THEN GRINDING WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, ROTORS MACHINED, THEN THEY WERE REPLACED. ALSO, THERE IS A JOINT OR STRUT PROBLEM B/C . WHEN YOU GO OVER A BUMP IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD IT SOUNDS CREAKY AND AS IF IT MIGHT SNAP. ALSO, POWER DOOR LOCKS HAVE BEEN SERVICED TWICE. IN ADDITION THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY SHAKY. THE DEALER BLAMED THAT ON ALIGNMENT. ALSO, THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED AT LESS THAN 25K AND PROBABLY HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SINCE 15K. THIS IS DUE TO THE BRAKE PROBLEM I AM CERTAIN. ALL ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THESE ISSUES RESOLVED HAVE BEEN BLOWN OFF BY THE DEALER -- UNTIL 11/07 WHEN I DEMANDED THAT THERE WAS INDEED SOMETHING WRONG. *TR

IN JAN 2006, AFTER ONLY 12,000 MILES ON MY 2005 KIA SEDONA, WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR FRONT BRAKE WORK. THE FRONT WHEELS VIBRATED WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE KIA DEALER RE-TURNED THE ROTORS AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. THE PROBLEM RETURNED BUT WE HAVE IGNORED IT UNTIL NOW (JULY 2007) WHEN AT 40,000 MILES THE KIA DEALER SAYS THIS IS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE, NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $450. *TR
THE DAY I PURCHASED MY 2005 KIA SEDONA THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THAT WAS REPLACED, THEN THE LIGHTER WENT. AGAIN THE RADIO AND THEN WITHIN THE FIRST THREE WEEKS THE BRAKES AND FRONT END WHICH HAS BEEN THE ONGOING PROBLEMS AND CONCERN TO DATE. WITH NUMEROUS TRIPS UP UNTIL 9/05 AND MY TAKING IT TO YET ANOTHER DEALER 9/05-1/06 LEADING TO IT BLOWING OUT A TIRE AND NOW THEM TELLING ME ALL ALONG OF COURSE THAT NOTHING IS OUTSIDE OF "NORMAL" OR THEIR FAULT ETC. HOWEVER BUYING THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT SOUNDING AND LIKE SOMETHING I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE (AND I'VE DRIVEN FOR 20 YEARS MANY TYPES OF CARS NEW AND VERY OLD!) LET ALONE THE WAY IT SHAKES.. YET THEY ALWAYS LED ME TO BELIEVE I WAS NUTS. THEY DID REPLACED THE ROTORS FINALLY ONLY AFTER I TOOK IT TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO DOCUMENTED IT NEEDED IT AND I TOOK IT BACK WITH THE PAPER WORK AND THAT WASN'T UNTIL AUGUST (I BOUGHT IT IN MAY) AND THEY'D BLOWN ME OFF FOR TWO MONTHS. I'VE CALLED KIA MAIN OFFICE WHO ALSO IS MAKING IT NOT THEIR PROBLEM IT'S A "NORMAL" WEAR ISSUE. THERE IS NO CAR THAT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THIS UPON BRAKING. A REGULAR MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP CAUSED A DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE'S BRAKES, A TIRE ROTATION DEFECT AND A STEERING PROBLEM(VEHICLE KEEPS ON PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND BRAKE PEDAL TOO SOFT AND ALMOST TOUCHES THE FLOOR WHEN USED-BRAKE INEFFECTIVE). THE DEALER DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE DESPITE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. NO CHOICE BUT TO CONTACT COMPANY'S HEADQUARTERS. *JB

THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, AND THEY RESURFACED THE BRAKES AND THE IGNITION. ON 7-31-05 THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND THEY WOULD NOT CATCH. TO KEEP FROM HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, SHE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND RAN ONTO THE MEDIAN, CAUSING TWO BLOW OUTS ON THE DRIVER'S FRONT AND REAR. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AAA, AND THEY REPLACED ONE OF THE TIRES AND PLACED THE SPARE ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WHERE NO INJURIES IN THIS ACCIDENT. ALSO, ONE OF THE TIRES IN THE ACCIDENT LOOKED AS IF SOMEONE HAD TAKEN A KNIFE AND CUT THE TIRE. THE CUT WAS SO CLEAN THAT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPAIR THE TIRE OR THE RIM. THE CONSUMER HAD TO BUY A NEW TIRE AND RIM. ON 8-18-05 THE VAN WAS TAKEN BACK TO KIA,. THE CONSUMER WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR. THE CONSUMER HAD GOTTEN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AUGUST 28, 2005. ON 8-19-05 THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER CONCERNING THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKING PROBLEMS. *AK (11/30/05) THE EMISSION LIGHT HAD COME ON AND SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A LOUD TICKING SOUND HEARD WHEN TURNING THE STEERING AND A COIL WAS REPAIRED AS A RESULT, THE GREASE SEAL LEAKED AND THERE WAS A HESITATION WHEN THE VEHICLE KICKED INTO GEAR. *SC
