Back up camera on Kia Sorento screens go black out of nowhere. After research online I have seen that this is a very common problem with Kia vehicles, and they haven't issued a recall on them. It isn't safe to be operating without one of the vehicles safety features because the vehicle owner doesn't want to pay to repair something they didn't damage.

This vehicle has a oil consumption problem that causes engine damage and Kia will not take responsibility for especially after the car being maintained. On top of it even with substantial evidence that this was a manufacturing defect that Kia is refusing to take accountability for and completely dismisses any claims or complaints and not even bothered to speak with you unless the car has warranty which is absurd because this was a again a manufacturing defect of the vehicle not from not sustaining the vehicle from the driver that owns it. It also did not give off any warning signs or any indication that there was a problem until the problem completely left me without a car. Without a warning or indication this was a hazard and luckily I did not have my children in the car when the oil brought broke and pierced an immense hole causing my engine damage. Kia sorentos are known for this defect it has had a lawsuit for this with other Kia sorento's they need to put this model also as I dug deeper I am not the only one that has this problem I'm currently trying to pursue a lawsuit with Kia corporation for this however as you know this is not an easy process This was definitely a safety issue that could have became extremely severe and risked my life and my children

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The paint all over the car had begun to delaminate and its only a 2013. The entire front of the hood, the side bar of the windshield on both the passenger and driver sides, and the roof along the windshield are flaking off manufacturers paint in large sheets. The back side has begun to develop small chips that will eventually match the front. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Because the loss of the protective paint on my car can and has been leading to rust issues on the metal underneath the paint. This is known to weaken the vehicle's body structure. This is especially problematic in potential areas of the car that are prone to collision, thereby compromising the vehicles safety over time, if allowed to continue to delaminate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? All across the internet people are posting their pictures of their white Kia Sorento having the exact issue mine has. Also in the small town I live in there are at least 10 people who drive a white Kia Sorento like mine and each one is losing their paint to peeling and delamination. Just driving across California you can see that this is a manufacturing issue that has effected most all their customers who bought a white Kia from 2013 - 2018. After reading this question I am making an appointment to go into an Official Kia dealership to address this issue and get their feedback and hopefully a resolution on their end. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have not had anyone inspect it to date, but intend on getting an appointment with Kia at their next available opening. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no precursors. Car was perfect when I purchased.

I called quirk Kia in Manchester NH to have the recall done on my vehicle..my vehicle has had a hard time starting and staying started sometimes...the vehicle would shut down while driving all dash lights come on and loose s all power to gas pedal and steering..had hard time starting for couple weeks before it stopped starting ..I believe there is electrical problem ..but when I called quirk to get the recall done the service guy told me he can not do the recall unless the vehicle runs ..I told him I believe it's not running because of the part that is being recalled .he said I doubt it .I then asked for a supervisor and he told me he doesn't have one ..then I asked him his name he again told me he doesn't have one .so I said are you really gonna refuse to do this recall ..it has to be done he then hung up on me ..I tried calling back and got to the sales department..spoke to the GM in sales and explained what just happened with the service department and he told me I would get a call back and still haven't heard from them ..this recall has to be done ..and I don't know what else to do

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the box was replaced; however, the failure persisted, and the fuse box was burned again. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine has been stalling while driving. The rpm gauge isn't moving it is at 0. Plus the radio and plug ins randomly shut off and on all the time. They don't stay on.

Good Morning...... I'm the owner of a 2013 Kia Sorrento that is subject to the above safety recall. This has become known as the 'PARK OUTSIDE RECALL' because of the supposed fire danger. I was first notified about this issue my mail on [XXX]. To date, NO remedy has been provided. My local Kia dealer here in Syracuse says they have no information, while Kia USA in California says "we're working on it." If we can collect rocks from an asteroid and return them to earth, it seems like the development of a corrective part could be accomplished in something less than 7 or 8 months (or longer if you use the Sept 25 date in the original recall). Received the recall notice from Kia back in November 2023 and have contacted them several times about fixing the problem. On February 8, 2024 took the car in to our local Kia dealer, Overturf, and had a recall inspection performed due to a burnt rubber/plastic smell when driving the car. The recall part said that the car caught on fire and we were concerned that this was the reason for the smell. The service department said they were unable to duplicate the smell, but that our car was one of the ones impacted by the recall. Said no fix for the problem yet so to park the car. This is our main means of transportation. They offered no rental or a loaner car.

I drove with my family south bound on i95 and between exit 6-5 the engine light came on out of no where and the gas peddle and brake stopped working. My luck was that I was on the right lane and I pulled over to shoulder of the highway till the car stopped. after 5-10 min I turned the car on and I was able to crawl to exit 5 ramp driving barely 10-15mph. The engine was making knocking sounds and then it just died in the middle of the exit, where I had to push the car in neutral through the ez-pass booth. We waited for an hour and got a tow truck to tow us to the nearest shop, where the mechanic told me that the engine is done and I need a new engine. I told him when it comes to engine, only an authorized kia dealer repair shop would be able to do the job.

It has been 3 months since first notification, called KIA and dealer today 2/7/2024. Have smelled burning/melting smell. No warning lights so far. Dealer says it still has no remedy and cannot inspect or repair.

On February 1, 2024, I was driving home from work. I had been driving for about 20 minutes and out of nowhere almost every dashboard light indicator that exists came on. Initially, it was the ABS, Tire Pressure, and Stability Control. I stopped at a light and all of these lights went off but as soon as I started driving again they came back on along with the AWD, Brake, and Airbag indicators. I drove approximately 10 more minutes and the check engine light came on and I had a loss of power. I was able to get to a road that had less traffic where the car started sputtering, the oil lamp came on, and then the car shut completely off. Prior to shutting off it would not allow me to place the vehicle into any gear other than neutral. I was able to use a battery pack to restart the vehicle temporarily but it started doing the exact same thing before shutting off. I ended up having to push the vehicle out of the middle of the street. Prior to this I had experienced a loss of power and the battery indicator came on so I had the alternator replaced in November 2023 along with the battery. I ended up having to return to the mechanic after I experienced another loss of power. The mechanic checked the alternator and other electrical components and stated that the rear hatch wasn't closed all the way even though there was no indicator on the dashboard. The vehicle seemed to be fine until this. After a little research it appears that I am not the only person with this same make & model that this has happened too - Kia is going to get someone killed!!!!

We were told by our auto mechanic that this vehicle needed a new electrical control module. The part has been on back-order with the local KIA dealership for a couple of months. My daughter was driving the car recently when all of the lights went out, and the car would only drive forward approximately 5 miles per hour. The car began to shudder and I had my daughter pull into the nearest parking lot and park the car. The engine shut off as she entered the parking lot, the car could not be placed in any other gear except neutral, and there was a burning smell. We pushed the car into a parking spot and removed the key from the ignition. We had to put the emergency brake on to keep the car from rolling. There is a safety recall related to this specific problem, but KIA states it does not have a remedy for the problem yet. What are we supposed to do?

Received important safety recall on 14th November 2023, I called Kia dealership and corporate office to resolve and got the answer that the remedy is not available. It’s been more than 45 days since I received a letter, I am not parking my car in my garage, or neither driving secondary to concerned of fire, risk and injury as indicated in later. I went to local Kia dealership as I was instructed by the Kia corporate number, They instructed me not to worry about it just a precaution, which which is contradictory and different information then I received a letter. I’m strongly filing a complaint on behalf of all the Kia Sorrento owners, who received this letter and afraid to drive for more than 45+ days and afraid to park inside the garage or right next to the neighbors house. Please address this issue as soon as possible as there are so many of me and they don’t know what to do next.

Sent messages to two Jacksonville dealerships about 23V652000 and cannot get a response, had Mutiple electrical issues on vehicle, including 'all problem indicators' on dashboard going on (incl check engine and ABS). Slight burning plastic smell, at 1st thought it was the headlight wires which 'melt' at times.

I have experienced multiple electrical failures, engine stalling & fuel pump issues. One after another. I had the fuel pump sensor replaced ($900 just for one part) a few months ago. I have wires randomly corroding - headlight connector. As of 2 days ago my ignition switch and starter solenoid intermittenly fails to send voltage to the starter. Won’t know if the starter motor will need replaced until it’s tested and proven it wasn’t the culprit for the failure of the other two. I have replaced 2 spark plugs. They have still been read to misfire. Random electrical things stopped working like my heated seats and a few steering wheel buttons. (I’d like to note the battery was just replaced last month) All of these problems seem to be linked with several recalls. All problems have all occurred over the last 6 months. There is an abundance of evidence pointing to faulty wiring and electrical issues. This recent HECU recall is basically saying our cars could spontaneously combust while not in use due to an electrical short circuit. Barely outlining the dangers it could cause while actually in use. A simple google will tell you if this system fails so could your ABS. Even with the ABS engine light warning how do we know it could warn us far enough in advance to pull over to safety? Imagine that while even going the speed limit in a school zone let alone the interstate. I have kids. This is terrifying. I can’t afford to just replace my vehicle. I have proof of a very well maintained lifetime of repair and maintenance on this vehicle. I had no knowledge of any prior recall issues until I spent hours researching. You buy a car and assume that if it has been well maintained it’s safe. My mistake. I would have absolutely declined had I known I’m strapping my babies in a double death trap every day over a failed circuit. Can we just accept the fact that this is certainly due to the engine replacements? Perhaps some were installed more carefully and correctly than others?

Vehicle was parked at a store in accessory mode while I ran inside to grab drinks on the way to a birthday party. My children were inside and noticed smoking from the hood and got out before the vehicle was consumed by flames. Luckily the engine was not running and we were not driving/accelerating at the time of fire. I had several issues with headlight and taillights blowing, the last time the headlight harness was completely melted and had to be changed out. The fire department speculates the fire started near the battery, which would make sense considering the headlight in question was the one closest to the battery, and accessory mode was on. My 5 year old now believes every car we have will eventually catch fire. Please advise.

My vehicle was having trouble starting so I scanned it and found out it might be part of a recall. I called Kia recall department and they confirmed that there was a safety recall for my engine and to make an appointment with the dealership. I called the Longmont Kia Fowler dealership in November but they refuse to service the recall for mr in a timely manner. They said it would take 2 months to even do the diagnostic that was a safety concern. They said all Kia dealerships are busy with the recalls and I would just have to wait. I called Kia management back and told him my concerns and documented every call because I didn't know what to do and needed help but didn't have another vehicle. Kia just said keep on them and didn't tell me not to drive the vehicle or that my life could be in danger like it was. The engine caught on fire in December and I was put in considerable danger. It was towed to Kia Fowler Longmont and they have refused to service it or give me a rental car. First they never did the diagnostic and filed the wrong request for the incorrect recall and then tried to lie about it. Now they're on their third reason of why I don't qualify for the recall that kia already confirmed I am part of throuhout this ordeal sayin I didn't ask for it to be serviced before the damage was done, which was not true and I've records of them refusing to service it in a timely manner and make me wait 2 months which was dangerous. Now they're saying since I'm not the original owner I don't get the service and get it fixed as it is now $9,000 to fix the engine that caught on fire because they wouldn't do the safety recall in a timely manner when I asked. So now I'm out of a car,no rental car and $9,000 they are saying I owe for the the damage they caused. They put my life was in danger. I've done everything to comply with this recall and more. I kept in touch with Kia the whole time and beg them for help and they're being impossible and breaking the law

Hello. The gugua started turning on the lights on the panel about 7 months ago. The lights on are the engine, the brakes, the “ABS”, and other lights that cannot be explained. Those lights have never gone out and since then the gugua has turned itself off, many times it does not turn on, a battery inflated me (I had to buy a new battery), the foot brake also causes a lot of problems. When trying to stop the gugua with the foot brake, the gugua shakes, the foot brake blows like air, the pedal shakes, among others. Also the handbrake (emergency brake) does not work well, on a sloping road the gugua does not stop with the handbrake when I put it on. The gugua has electrical problems in general. There are also other things that I don't know how to explain. The gugua is a danger as it is, please I need you to do something about this matter. Thanks a lot.

Having to replace the headlight bulbs weekly. They go out without any warning until I cannot see while driving. Taillights need replacement about 30-60 days. Again without any warnings. Safety issue in my opinion. Definitely a defect from Kia. Unsafe and replacing bulbs weekly is not practical. [XXX]. But every since I've owned my vehicle I've had a problem with my Engine Light being on, the Driver Side Break light keeps going out and the USB and Cigarette Lighter keep Blowing the FUSES. I Love my Truck and I need to know how KIA can help to fix these problems.

ABS Traction System and Wheel Speed Sensor - My Sorento has driven only around 37000 miles and has been maintained well on a regular basis. Recently, I noticed tpms sensor light on, and took it for oil change while also asked the service provider to check the tire pressure. The service center personnel identified two tires on the passenger side having lower tire pressure and refilled air, which addressed the tpms sensor light. However, the following day while I was getting ready to take my daughter for a doctor visit, I noticed the abs, traction light and slope align assist sensors being on. While running an OBD2 scanner test on it, it turned out to be an issue with left rear wheel speed sensor. Though my car has gone past the warranty, I have not driven much as can be seen by the miles. Moreover, I also know a close member in my network purchasing a very similar car around the same time, but has driven a lot more miles. However, that car still has not shown any issue with the sensors. While digging further, I noticed that many others have seen a similar issue with these sensors, even after two or three years since the release, that were shared in Kia based forums. Being a safety concern, I would appreciate your department to look into this matter to see whether there is a manufacturing issue with these sensors.

I have submitted multiple complaints with NHTSA on this vehicle, as well as the dealership. 0n 4/14/2014 I complained that the key won't turn in ignition at intermittent times. Just today (8/17/2021) is the latest time in which pulling into my garage and turning off the vehicle the ignition key would not fully turn off and come out of the ignition. Had to restart the car, put in drive, back up and pull forward, turn steering wheel, place in park and turn vehicle off, then I was finally able to turn ignition and remove key. I've made multiple attempts with the dealership to investigate this problem and the service on Jan. 25, 2021 they verbally recommended replacing the ignition at my expense because it's probably a tooth broken off in the ignition tumbler; however, they could duplicate and are not sure if that would fix problem. My concern is that I'll get stranded somewhere and won't be able to get the key removed from the vehicle or get the vehicle started.

OVER A PERIOD OF A MONTH ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DURING NORMAL DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS, THE ENGINE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, ONLY ALLOWING ENOUGH DRIVE ABILITY AT SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED POWER AND SPEED TO PULL OVER. IN EACH OF THOSE INSTANCES, THE POWER WAS RESTORED TO NORMAL AFTER A SMALL PERIOD OF REST. AN OVERLAPPING CONDITION EXISTED DURING THAT SAME PERIOD, IN WHICH ALL POWER WAS LOST TO THE ENGINE AND POWER STEERING, AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. IN EACH OF THOSE CASES, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER UNTIL AFTER A PERIOD OF REST OF AT LEAST 20 MINUTES. THERE WAS NEVER AN ENGINE WARNING TO INDICATE AN ISSUE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED AND ASSESSED BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS DETECTED. DURING ONE SUCH INSPECTION WITH AAMCO OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, THE CAR LOST POWER DURING THEIR FINAL TEST DRIVE FOLLOWING A RIGOROUS INSPECTION IN WHICH NO ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED, AND NEVER REGAINED POWER AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD CEASED WITH 141,335 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ANOTHER ISSUE REVOLVED AROUND AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP AND TURN SIGNAL. IT CEASED TO WORK WHILE WITHIN THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND WAS FIXED WITHOUT COST. HOWEVER, IT CONTINUED TO FAIL AFTERWARDS AND WAS FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES AT PERSONAL EXPENSE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS ALSO BEEN ON FOR HALF THE LIFE OF THE CAR, AND IS STILL ON AT THIS TIME, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE DESPITE A RECALL ON THAT LIGHT. THEY CLAIMED THAT THE LIGHT WAS TRIPPED DUE TO SOME EMPTY SODA CANS THEY DISCOVERED UNDER THE CHAIR AND WHICH WERE PROBABLY ROLLING AROUND ACCORDING TO THEIR OPINION. THEY STATED THAT THE TRIPPED AIRBAG LIGHT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL.

THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 FOR THE SPEED SENSOR ON THE REAR WHEELS. THE SENSORS FAILED REPEATEDLY AND KIA, ON THE RECALL JUST SPRAYED SILICONE ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. THE SENSORS CONTINUED TO FAIL AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CONTINUED TO STAY ON. AFTER THE SO CALLED RECALL FIX, I PAID $326.00 TWICE FOR THE LEFT REAR SENSOR, AND $326.00 FOR THE RIGHT REAR. HOWEVER, KIA IS NOT PLACING ANYTHING ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO FURTHER PREVENT THE FAILURE OF THE SENSORS. IN AUGUST 2020, I PAID KIA TO REPLACE THE SENSOR ON THE REAR AND DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL JANUARY 28, 2021. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS STAYED ON WHICH THE DEALER STATES THAT THE SENSOR WAS BAD. I EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE IT WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2020. AGAIN, I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED AS THE DEALER SAID. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, I ASKED FOR THE OLD PART, AND WAS TOLD THEY THREW IT AWAY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE TRASH TO FIND THE OLD PART. I CALLED KIA HEADQUARTERS TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN AND THEY COULD NOT TAKE MY COMPLAINT. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY KIA MONEY TO KEEP REPLACING THE SENSOR, OF WHICH I CANNOT ACCESS, AND THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE SPENT OVER $1200 SINCE THE RECALL WAS FIRST ISSUED ON THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX TO THIS. THESE WIRES ARE UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND EXPOSED TO WATER FROM RAIN ON THE STREETS AS YOU ARE DRIVING. WHY KIA DO NOT FIND A WAY TO COVER THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IS WHAT I THINK SHOULD BE DONE, AND NOT HAVE ME TO PAY $300 EVERYTIME IT FAILS. THE RECALL FIX IS NOT WORKING.

MY HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THEM ALL TWICE IN A YEAR. ON TOP OF THAT, EVERY TIME I'VE HAD TO CHANGE MY HEADLIGHTS, I'VE ALSO HAD TO CHANGE THE WIRING HARNESS THAT THE LIGHT GOES INTO. IT'S LIKE THE IT EXPLODES AND MELTS THE PIECE THAT THE LIGHT SNAPS INTO.

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RECOMMENDED THAT THE OIL BE TOPPED OFF TO FIX THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE THE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

FIRST, THE BRAKE LIGHTS KEPT GOING OUT. FINALLY FOUND A LOOSE WIRE. THEN, THE ABS, DOWNHILL, SKID LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. FOUND ONE WHEEL WHERE IT IS NOT READING SPEED. NEXT, THE GAS COVER DOES NOT OPEN NOW. THERE HAS BEEN ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS CAR. I GET IT SERVICED, MONTHLY. ONE HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT. I HAD IT FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BECAUSE EVERYTIME THEY CHANGE THE BULB IT IS MELTED INSIDE. IT WILL STAY LIT FOR A DAY AND THEN GO OUT AGAIN. ALSO, MY HEATED SEATS STOPPED WORKING AND OUTLERS TO PLUG IN MY CAR CHARGER IN THE FRONT UNDER THE RADIO HAVE STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND WHEN WE THINK ITS FIXED IT IMMEDIATELY STOPS WORKING. THIS IS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER A YEAR.

I'VE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR SINCE A FEW MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT IN 2019. MY HEADLIGHTS WILL JUST STOP WORKING WHEN I'M DRIVING. EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. THE CONNECTORS THAT GO TO THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP MELTING AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. SOMETIMES THE CONNECTORS WILL LAST A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AND SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE MELTED WITHIN DAYS. IF BOTH OF MY HEADLIGHTS ARE WORKING SOMETIMES MY BRAKE LIGHTS WILL GO OUT. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER AND BEEN GIVEN WARNINGS FOR BOTH, HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS BEING OUT. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT A LOT OF KIA OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES. NOW I'M HAVING AN ISSUE OF MY CAR RADIO, BACK UP CAMERA SCREEN AND LIGHTER PLUG AND USB PLUG NOT WORKING. SEEMS LIKE EPOXY DID NOT HOLD. LESS THAN 17 K MILES LATER, SAME THING HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP HAD TOWED 85 MILES BACK TO LOCAL AREA SINCE KIA COULDN'T FIND MECHANIC TO WORK ON IT DURING HUNTING SEASON. 1500 DOLLARS LATER AFTER SHOWING MECHANIC LINKS TO THE OIL LEAK FIX... I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I NOTICED THAT ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE COMING ON. ALL OF THEM WERE LIT UP RED AND NOT GOING OFF. THE NAVIGATION AND RADIO SCREEN WENT COMPLETELY BLACK. I NOTICED I WAS LOSING SPEED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. I WAS ON THE INSIDE LANE OF THE FOUR LANE ROAD AND COASTED TO THE MIDDLE MEDIAN ON THE FOUR LANE ROAD TO SAFELY GET MY TRUCK OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WITH NO CAPABILITY TO ACCELERATE MY TRUCK TO GET IT OUT OF TRAFFIC THIS OPTION DEEMED TO BE THE SAFEST MANEUVER TO DO. WHEN THE TRUCK FINALLY STOPPED I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO KEEP TRUCK FROM ROLLING. AT THIS TIME I COULD NOT TAKE THE TRUCK OUT OF DRIVE MODE AND PUT INTO PARK MODE. ON 02/04/2020 DROVE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE, PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE KEY WAS STILL IN IGNITION AND COULDN'T GET KEY TO RELEASE. HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, TOOK SHIFTER OUT OF PARK AND THEN PUT BACK INTO PARK, STRAIGHTENED STEERING WHEEL AND TURN OFF VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE IGNITION KEY. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 15 OR MORE TIMES SINCE OWNING VEHICLE AND I HAVE ASKED LOCAL DEALER WHO PERFORMS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO CHECK FOR PROBLEM IN THE PAST AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND AT 70 MPH I HAD SUDDEN POWER FAILURE AND THE THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN FOR ME AS I HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD, AM AN EMT AND ALSO A CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY TECHNICIAN. WHEN I CONTACTED A LOCAL KIA DEALER, THEY PRETTY MUCH STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THERE IS NOT A RECALL AT THIS TIME. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS KIAS ARE TYPICALLY FAMILY VEHICLES AND COUNTLESS LIVES OF CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS ARE BEING PUT AT RISK. THE NEXT DAY, WE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT, BELIEVING IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ONCE THE REPLACEMENT BULB WAS PLACED, THE CONNECTOR AND WIRES BEGAN TO SMOKE. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WOULD NOT WORK. WE REMOVED THE BULB FROM THE CONNECTOR AND ALL LIGHTS WORKED. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT DUE TO THE CONNECTOR MELTING. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL.

I WAS IN AND OUT OF KIA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG! I MOVED FROM CO TO NE, MY HUSBAND AND I HAD TO ADD OIL EVERY 100 MILES, WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST AND STALLING. LINCOLN NE KIA FOUND AN OIL LEAK AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD RIGHT AWAY! KIA INSTRUCTS THEN TO REPLACE MY ENGINE AGAIN! ONCE THEY REPLACED ENGINE, THEY STILL SAW THE LEAK AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH RESULTED IN MORE GUESSING AND PARTS. THE DAY AFTER I PICKED IT UP, MY HUSBAND AND I WENT OUT TO DINNER AND MY SORENTO DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. RIGHT AWAY CALLED AND GOT IT BACK IN. AT FIRST THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE, HOWEVER AFTER TAKING IT 50 MILES, IT DIED 3 TIMES. THEY STILL CAN'T FIND ANYTHING, BUT FEEL IT MAY BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY PUT A USED ONE ON AND HAVE ME DRIVE IT A FEW WEEKS, IT DIDN'T DIE DURING THAT TIME, SO THEY ORDERED A NEW ONE AND INSTALLED. A MONTH LATER I DRIVE TO CO, I BREAK DOWN, IT'S TOWED BACK AND KIA CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. I DRIVE IT AND IT DIES 1/2 DOZEN MORE TIMES, EACH TIME I TAKE IT RIGHT IN, BUT THE CODE HAS CLEARED AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING! FINALLY, IT DOES AND THE LIGHT STAYS ON, IT SHOWS IT'S THE MAP SENSOR. KIA HAS A SPECIALIST COME OUT TO INSTALL THAT AND INSPECT MY CAR. THEY SAY IT'S FIXED AND SAFE. I DRIVE TO CO ON 9/22/17, 2 MONTHS LATER AND MY ENGINE CATCHES ON FIRE. I LOSS MY BRAKES, CAN'T PUT IT IN PARK AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WON'T WORK. FLAMES ARE EVERYWHERE, SMOKE FILLING MY CAR. I JUMP OUT OF MY BURNING, MOVING CAR AND SECONDS LATER THE WHOLE THING ENGULFS IN FLAMES! MOST HORRIFIC, AWFUL THING EVER! I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE MINOR INJURIES. I LIVE A HOUR AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I WAS ON 290 HEADING EAST AT ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY DASH AND RADIO PANEL LIGHTS START FLICKERING, MY MOTOR FELT LIKE IT IDLED DOWN A LITTLE BUT THEN IT WAS OK, BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE RADIO AREA, STEERING WHEEL AND SPEEDOMETER AREA TURNED OFF AND IT LOST A LITTLE POWER BUT THEN THEY ALL CAME BACK ON AND I MADE IT HOME, THEN ON 12/20/15 I WAS DRIVING INTO TOWN AND AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES AT 75 MPH MY INSIDE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AGAIN, AND THEN WENT TOTALLY DARK. I DIDN'T LOSE ANY POWER THIS TIME BUT I'M STARTING TO FEEL PRETTY RIPPED OFF. I TOOK T\HE VEHICLE TO A NON DEALER LOCATION TO BE INSPECTED AFTER HAVING MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY BEING FAULTY. UPON INSPECTION I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE MECHANIC ON DUTY THAT THE WIRING ASSEMBLY WAS ACTUALLY MELTING , A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. BECAUSE THIS BEING A FIRE HAZARD HE WAS UNABLE TO REPLACE THE BULBS FOR ME AND SAID HE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT WOULD PLACE MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY AT RISK. HE PROCEEDED TO SHOW ME THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN MY HAVING TO REPLACE THE BULBS FIVE TIMES IN THE PAST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND AT LEAST TWICE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE WIRING ASSEMBLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. HAVE ALSO PROVIDED A PICTURE OF THE REPAIR NOTE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO PROVIDING A CLIP SHOWING THAT ACCORDING TO THEIR INSPECTION MY LIGHTS WERE IN WORKING ORDER WHEN IN ACTUALITY THEY WERE NOT. LASTLY NOTING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES REMAIN IN ADDITION TO HAVING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AS IT IS BEING CONTINUALLY DRAWN FROM DUE TO THESE ISSUES.

MY 2013 KIA SORRENTO'S PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THIS AFTERNOON ON SATURDAY AUGUST 22, 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM EST. I WENT OUTSIDE TO PLACE SOMETHING IN MY VEHICLE WHEN I NOTICED THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE AT 1:00 AM WHEN I RETURNED FROM RUNNING AN ERRAND. I PARKED, MADE SURE ALL THE LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF, ARMED THE SECURITY SYSTEM AND WENT INSIDE. BEFORE MY WIFE AND I WENT TO BED I WENT OUT TO MAKE SURE THAT I TURNED ALL LIGHTS OFF WHICH THEY WERE. THIS WAS AT 2:00 AM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED SINCE THAT TIME. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE ALREADY WHERE THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE JUMPED AT LEAST 12 TIMES DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE FALLS WELL WITHIN IT'S WARRANTY SO IT WILL BE COVERED HOWEVER THE ISSUE IS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT IT WARRANTS ATTENTION WHICH I BELIEVE WILL BE IGNORED IF NOT BROUGHT TO LIGHT AND MAY RESULT IN INJURIES OR COST TO OTHERS WHEN NO COST SHOULD BE INCURRED. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I FEEL THIS COULD LEAD TO PROBLEMS WITH STEERING, BRAKING SYSTEM, ENGINE MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS POSSIBLE RISKS OF FIRE DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AFTER THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, SHE BEGAN SMELLING TAR. THE VEHICLE WS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE HEADLIGHTS BURNED OUT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY RECALL NOTICE. APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS AGO, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DRIVER SEAT BEGAN TO BURN, JAMMING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

THIS "GLITCH" HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE WEEK. FIRST, DRIVING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AT ABOUT 15-20 MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO BRAKE ITSELF FOR ABOUT A SECOND, LUNGED ME FORWARD AND 30 SECONDS LATER DIED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CAR RESTARTED FINE AFTER 3RD TRY. THEN AGAIN I HAD LET GO OF THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS CRUISING BEFORE BRAKING AT A LIGHT, THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH BUT HARDER AND A LOUD CLUNK CAME FROM IT. EVEN THE TIRES SCREECHED WHEN IT "BRAKED" ITSELF FOR A SECOND. THIS SECOND TIME THE CAR DIED 2 SECONDS LATER WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER, THE CAR DIED AGAIN IN FRONT OF THEM WHEN THEY SWITCHED ON THE A/C TO CHECK IF IT WAS WORKING (COULD BE COINCIDENCE SINCE I WASN'T FOOLING AROUND WITH THE A/C THE FIRST TWO TIMES). THEY CALLED ME BACK ON SECOND DAY AND ASKED ME TO TAKE MY CAR BACK SINCE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER HADN'T REGISTERED IT. I'VE USED IT EXCLUSIVELY ON HIGHWAYS FOR 2 DAYS NOW AND NO PROBLEM. I'VE DONE LESS THAN 10 MILES OF CITY DRIVING SINCE I GOT MY CAR BACK. I'VE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE GETTING AN UPGRADE FOR THE ECU AND SOLVING THE ISSUE, BUT THAT UPGRADE WAS ALREADY APPLIED OVER A YEAR AGO TO MINE AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THERE IS NO NEWER VERSION. *TR

THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND IS GETTING TO BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN. MY DAUGHTER ONCE HAD TO HUSSLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TO TURN THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET IT. MANY TIMES IT STALLS WHILE SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS.

I RAN THE CAR FOR AN HOUR OR SO WITH NO PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. I CALLED KIA DEALERSHIP AND DESCRIBED THE EVENTS TO THEM AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS SIMPLY A DEAD BATTERY. NEXT MORNING (YESTERDAY), THE CAR WAS TOTALLY DEAD ONCE MORE. CALLED KIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY WANTED TO JUMPSTARTED IT AGAIN. I REFUSED AND TOLD THEM TO SEND ME A TOW. THEY DID AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST KIA DEALERSHIP, 65 MILES AWAY. SEVERAL HOURS LATER I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY. THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR 3-4 HOURS, TESTED THE CHARGING SYSTEM AND PRONOUNCED IT "FIXED". I LEFT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND PICKED IT UP THIS MORNING (TODAY). IT STARTED AND MY WIFE IS NOW DRIVING IT. I HAVE A 2013 KIA SORENTO THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 8 MILES ON IT. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD AS IF SOMEONE HIT US FROM BEHIND BUT THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. SO WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN WE STARTED TO GO AND NOTICED WE HAD NO POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND CALLED AAA AND THE DEALERSHIP TELLING THEM WHAT HAPPENED. SO ONCE IT GOT THERE THE SERVICE TECH AND IT PROBABLY WAS THE COMPUTER AND IT NEEDED TO BE UPDATED . I STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR WHILE THEY DID THE UPDATE AND THEN THEY TEST DROVE IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SO THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY SO THEY REPLACED IT AND TEST DROVE IT AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SO THEY FOUND THAT IT WAS THE PCM . NOT TOTALLY SURE WHAT THAT IS. HE SAYS IT WAS 1500$ PART IN THE COMPUTER THAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING . BUT THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK DOING THE REPAIRS AND NOW IS RUNNING GOOD. THEY ALSO HAVE ME A RENTAL CAR. I WAS STOPPED IN THE LEFT TURN LANE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO PASS SO THAT I COULD PULL INTO A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT WHEN SUDDENLY EVERYTHING SHUT OFF. I HAD FIRST NOTICED THE RADIO HAD SHUT OFF AND THEN I REALIZED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAD SHUT DOWN AS I COULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE. AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND THE RESTARTING IT, I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. AS THIS WAS THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING, I WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE SATURDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING. SIMILAR TO OTHERS HERE WHO HAVE MADE COMPLAINTS, THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIANS AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR EVEN AFTER TEST DRIVING IT AND HAVING IT CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS WAS JUST A FLUKE THING UNTIL I READ ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS HERE. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN MY RADIO TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. ON 12/5/13 I WENT TO TURN MY CAR ON AND IT DIDN'T START, I WAITED A FEW SECONDS TRIED AGAIN AND SHE STARTED. THE VERY NEXT DAY 12/6/13 I DROVE TO LA WITH MY SON AND ON MY WAY BACK DOWN (90 MILES AWAY FROM HOME) THE RADIO WENT OUT AGAIN AND MY CAR FELT VERY SLUGGISH. I COULDN'T CALL MY HUSBAND AS MY BLUETOOTH IS CONNECTED TO MY RADIO AND I WAS ALREADY ON THE ROAD WHEN THE RADIO WENT OUT AGAIN. NOW TODAY 12/11/13 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TO A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT. AS SOON AS I GET OFF THE FREEWAY I AM AT A STOP SIGN, I STOP. WHEN IT IS MY TURN TO GO IS WHEN MY CAR DECIDES TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN! ALL THE LIGHTS FLICKERED, THE RADIO WENT OUT AND MY CAR WAS STILL STUCK IN DRIVE, ON A SLIGHT HILL. I IMMEDIATELY PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, PUT THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON AS I DIDN'T WANT MY CAR TO ROLL BACKWARDS. AFTER TRYING TO RESTART MY CAR ABOUT 4 TIMES I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. BUT SHE WAS SHAKING THE ENTIRE TIME UNTIL I FINALLY PARKED THE CAR AND WENT TO MY APPT. WE PURCHASED THE 2013 KIA SORENTO AWD 2/2013 W/300 MILES ON IT. AT THE END OF APRIL, WE WENT TO DEATH VALLEY (ROUND TRIP WAS APPROX 350 MILES.). WHEN WE RETURNED TO TOWN, WE STOPPED AT THE GROCERY STORE TO PICK UP SUPPER SUPPLIES. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF, BEING IN THE STORE FOR APPROX. 30 MINUTES, & THEN CAME BACK OUT, WHEN WE TURNED THE VEHICLE ON, IT SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS ONLY HITTING ON HALF THE CYLINDERS. WE IMMEDIATELY CUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. IT SEEMED FINE. WE FIGURED IT WAS PROBABLY A FLUKE. RIGHT AFTER THIS HAPPENED THOUGH, I NOTICE A HUGE DECREASE IN MY FUEL MILEAGE. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I WAS GETTING 18/19 MPG/CITY AND 24-34 MPG/HWY (DEPENDING ON HOW FAR I WENT, OUT TO DEATH VALLEY W/NO STOPS, WE GOT 34). NOW I WAS LUCKY TO GET 13/14 MPG/CITY AND 16-18 MPG/HWY. WE TOOK IT TO THE KIA GARAGE, BUT THERE WASN'T MUCH THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WASN'T THROWING ANY CODES. WE SUFFERED WITH PAYING MORE FOR GAS FOR 6 MONTHS UNTIL WE WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE IN OCT AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THERE WAS AN "ECM" UPDATE. AFTER THEY SHARED WITH US THAT IT COULD POTENTIALLY HELP W/THE FUEL MILEAGE, I WAS ECSTATIC! IT WENT RIGHT BACK UP TO WHERE IT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY! THEN, THE THING WITH THE IGNITION HAPPENED AGAIN! ONLY WORSE THIS TIME, JUST A FEW DAYS AGO! MY FUEL MILEAGE WENT BACK DOWN TO WHAT I SHARED ABOVE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEM TRYING ALL DAY TO REPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED (WHICH TOOK MONTHS FOR IT TO HAPPEN W/US), THEY FINALLY DID THE UPDATE, AGAIN. MY FUEL MILEAGE IS BACK UP TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. I WANT TO BE HAPPY, BUT I AM CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN YET AGAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN TO OTHER NOTICEABLE ISSUES THAT I HAVE SHARED IN OTHER SECTIONS. RADIO AND CAMERA SYSTEM SUDDENLY STOPS WORKING. WHEN YOU TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER COMES A STRONG ODOR AS "SILICONE" THIS HAPPENS THE FIRST TIME THAT I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE DAY. THE VEHICLE IS VERY UNSTABLE AND VERY SENSITIVE TO UNEVEN ROADS. SHAKES A LOT AND MOVES A LOT. I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND APPLIED THE BRAKES QUICKLY AS I WAS GOING TOO QUICKLY TO STOP AT THE STOP LINE IF I HAD NOT. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 20-25 MPH. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND AT ALL. AFTER I BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR A COUPLE OF LIGHT CHANGES AND CARS WERE HONKING, I WAS ABLE TO PLACE CAR ON PARK AND RESTART IT. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I RECENTLY NOTICED A HIGH PITCHED BUT VERY LOW SOUND WHILE DRIVING AT FIRST I WASN'T SURE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION SWITCH, STEERING COLUMN NOT UNLOCKING ON MY 2013 KIA SORRENTO. PUT THE KEY IN, WOULD NOT TURN. FINALLY, I JERKED ON THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH, IT FINALLY TURNED. THEN, MY SISTERS 2013 KIA-OPTIMA DID THE SAME THING ABOUT A WEEK AGO! WE LEASED 2013 KIA SORENTO IN AUG 2012 AFTER DRIVING FEW MONTHS ENGINE STARTS TO SHUT DOWN BY IT SELF, THE FIRST TIME SHUTS DOWN ON MY DRIVEWAY, I DIDN'T CONTACT DEALER AT THAT TIME, AFTER FEW MONTHS I WAS DRIVING ON STREET AND ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AGAIN AND I COULDN'T PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN, CALLED AAA TOW TRUCK TO TOW THE CAR TO DEALER, AFTER FEW DAYS THE COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM BUT DEALER CONTACTED KIA CENTER FOR HELP AND THEY CHANGED PARTS AND HOPING EVERYTHING IS FIXED BUT AFTER FEW MONTHS THE PROBLEM START AGAIN AND ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN ALMOST FIVE TIMES IN ONE MONTH, THE LAST TIME ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHEN MY WIFE WAS GOING TO DROP OFF OUR KIDS AT SCHOOL AND ALL THE CARS STOPPED IN THE MORNING RUSH HOUR, THEY WERE PANICKED AND WE CONTACTED DEALER AGAIN FOR SECOND TIME AND TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR, AFTER FEW DAYS TEST DRIVE AND TEST EVERYTHING THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND THEY DID CONNECT A RECORDING DEVICE TO OUR CAR TO RECORD THE FAULT OR CODE WHEN ENGINE IS SHUTTING DOWN, THIS IS INCONVENIENT ALL THE WIRES ARE HANGING FROM THAT DEVICE. WE EXPLAINED THIS ISSUE TO DEALER SERVICE MANAGER, SALES MANAGER AND IT IS HIGH SAFETY ISSUE, I AM WONDERING IF THOSE MANAGERS WILL DRIVE THIS CAR OR THEIR FAMILY WILL DRIVE THIS CAR AROUND, IT IS VERY EASY TO TELL US WE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, THANK GOD WE DIDN'T INVOLVE IN ANY ACCIDENT BUT IF HAPPENS I AM WONDERING WHAT KIND OF ANSWER WILL GET FROM DEALER. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT NIGHT AT 65 MPH LIGHTS FLICKER INSIDE AND HEADLIGHTS. BATTERY WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD HARD SHIFTING AROUND 20 TO 30 MPH, ALMOST LIKE APPLYING BRAKES ON SLOW DOWN AND AN ENGINE REV WHEN SPEEDING UP. NEXT NIGHT (SUNDAY) VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT. MADE IT OFF TO A SIDE ROAD, BUT ENGINE STILL RUNNING ROUGH, NO RESPONSE TO GAS PEDAL, COULD NOT SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK, HAD TO HOLD STOP BUTTON FOR LONG TIME TO FINALLY STOP ENGINE, LIGHTS CAME BACK ON, BUT WOULD NOT START, FINALLY COULD PUT IN PARK. HAULED BACK TO DEALER. SERVICE REPLIES WASN'T ON SCHEDULE WILL MAYBE GET TO IT TODAY. DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR ON "E" ORDER WILL FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS. WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE UNSAFE, DEATH TRAP AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT HAD BEEN ABLE TO MANAGE SAFELY IF SHE WOULD OF BEEN DRIVING WHEN PROBLEMS SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE. *TR

A DAY AFTER I PURCHASED A NEW KIA SORENTO EX GDI 2013 (9/25/2012), I NOTICED THAT IT HAD ROUGH IDLE AT STOP. I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE ROUGH IDLE ISSUE NEXT DAY, HOWEVER AFTER 4 DAYS OF TROUBLESHOOTING BY MECHANIC WITH KIA SUPPORT ENGINEER, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE IT. TSB#122 (ECM SOFTWARE UPGRADE) WAS ALREAY APPLIED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE. EVEN TODAY, I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. MY CURRENT MILEAGE IS 2800 MILES. *TR

I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD ONLY 5 MILES ON IT AND HAD NOT BEEN TEST DRIVEN PRIOR TO ME. I NOTICED A VERY SLIGHT VIBRATION FROM 0MPG TO 10MPG, AND ASKED THE SALES ASSOCIATE IF THAT WAS NORMAL. HE SAID IT WAS FINE AND WAS NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY FURTHER ISSUES WHILE IDLING AT STOP LIGHTS AND DID NOT NOTICE THE VIBRATION AGAIN DURING THE TEST DRIVE. AFTER I SIGNED THE FINANCIAL PAPERS AT 11PM AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAD OFFICIALLY CLOSED FOR THE DAY AND GOT INTO THE CAR TO DRIVE HOME, I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR WHILE IT IDLED AND I WAS SPEAKING TO THE SALES ASSOCIATE WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE VIBRATION WAS VERY NOTICEABLE. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD THE ASSOCIATE AND HE SAID TO BRING THE CAR IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE FOLLOWING DAY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. HE SAID IT'S UNDER WARRANTY SO IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN THE NEXT DAY AND THE SERVICE MAN TOLD MY HUSBAND IT WAS LIKELY JUST THAT IT NEEDED TO BREAK-IN SINCE IT ONLY HAD A FEW MILES ON IT. THEY RAN TESTS ON THE CAR AND EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE. THE MAN SUGGESTED WE TAKE IT FOR A LONG DRIVE AND PUT A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES ON IT AND SEE HOW IT WAS RUNNING AFTERWARD. WE DID SO AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT GET BETTER. WE BROUGHT IT IN THE NEXT DAY TO BE INSPECTED AGAIN AND THE SERVICE MEN TOOK IT FOR A SHORT DRIVE TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEY NOTED THEY DID. OUR SALES ASSOCIATE TOLD US HE LOOKED INTO THIS VIBRATION PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT KIA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WERE WORKING ON A FIX FOR A COMPUTER CHIP THAT WAS AFFECTING THE 4 CYLINDER 2013 SORENTOS. HE TOLD US KIA DID NOT HAVE A TIMEFRAME FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM BUT IT SHOULD BE SOON, BUT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH ALL 4 CYLINDERS THAT THEY ARE MAKING. *TR
