2013 KIA SORENTO Unknown Or Other Problems

Car stalled several times including as I was turning through an intersection. I took my car to KIA Ganley if Boardman 7870 Market Street Bdmn Two, Youngstown, Ohio 44512. I met w/Gerry who I explained the concerns with car stalling reminding him it had been almost 2 years since the jnick sensor issue was detected. So why am I expected to keep driving a dangerous vehicle without the repair needed??!!!! Also asked about light assembly replacement delay (per recall) since I'm replacing the turn signal & brake bulbs 5-6 times a year while awaiting a replacement. assembly.

I am seeing an axle shaft issue for this vehicle and noticed that several vehicles for similar timeline had a safety recall. However, mine is not showing up. Could you look into it and let me know whether my vehicle should also be part of this recall?

I have a 2013 Kia Sorento. The color is Pearl White and the paint is peeling off in several areas of the vehicle. The paint started peeling about 4 or 5 yrs ago and is getting worse. I have contacted Kia dealership and they claim there is nothing they can do. From every thing I have researched this is a known problem and stems from a paint defect. If it is a paint defect it should be covered by the manufacturer. Also the black trim around the windshield and driver /passenger door mirrors have severe deterioration. I will include photos.

Some Unknown The vechicle wire and cable has shortage/ electrical problems, no accident occur.

I got a recall on my Kia in November about it potentially catching fire. My engine light came on and there is no remedy for the recall and it’s been 5 months. This is unacceptable because I don’t want to drive my car around while it could potentially catch fire. I need this to be remedied asap.

The white paint has recently started peeling off in large sections in one area. Another area has a smaller section now missing. This has not been looked at by the dealer but online research shows that this has been a problem with KIA vehicles with white paint. This could be a safety risk if these pieces come off when driving, which has fortunately not happened yet.

About 4 years ago the rear view warning started to get foggy/blurred so it was hard to see what was towards the rear when backing. Contacted dealer about this and of course it was no longer in warranty and I would have to pay a high price to have this replaced. After the view became blank, all your saw were the lines that would show how close you were to another car while backing up I once again ask my dealer about it, if they were having trouble like this on other Kia cars and he would not tell me, just told me the price of replacment. So I started to wonder if this problem showed up on other Kia's

On November 15, I was driving my vehicle in traffic. As I approached an intersection, I looked in my rear-view mirror and noticed smoke trailing behind the vehicle. I attempted to brake, but there was no braking action. The vehicle rolled to a stop. Immediately, smoke and flames poured from the front end of the vehicle, under the hood. My passenger and I were able to exit the vehicle as the flames grew in size and engulfed the engine compartment of the vehicle. Video shot by a bystander showed flames under the vehicle as well, just prior to getting it stopped. Shortly after the incident, I was told that there were recalls on some Kia Sorentas, so I checked the NHTSA website and the VIN showed it was included in Kia's latest recall. I had not received anything from Kia prior to the fire. However, I did receive an interim recall notice on November 24.

Steering jerks to left at highway speeds. Feels like motor driven power steering is causing this and leads to over Correctional at highway speeds. Also rear end noise when turning at slow speeds.

Exterior paint is rapidly falling off the car, to the degree that the outer paint will completely delaminate. It appears to be a serious manufacturing defect, as the car has been properly cared for, and the peeling has nothing to do with scratches, dents or other abrasions. The peeling paint is accessible to children, including my own, who could easily get it on their hands and ingest, making it a major hazard. I've taken it to two auto body shops, who refuse to touch up the peeling areas, because they insist that the only fix is a complete paint strip and repainting of the entire car.

Approximately 4 years ago the paint began to chip on the roof and side near the windshield of my Pearl white sorento. It was bubbling up and slowly chipping away and has now began to rust.

One month after purchasing(11-29-15) used car from Kia dealer, the paint started peeling on front panel above the windshield. It was repaired(12-28-15) by the dealer. It was brought to their attention when other areas started peeling shortly after but they didn’t care and didn’t say anything was wrong. Now there are four areas that are peeling on my car. It has been parked in garage since purchased. The auto body place said that it looks like it was not painted correctly.

Yesterday, when I went to start my car, it barely turned over. Today it started fine but while I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection during rush hour, my car shook violently for about 3 seconds and then stalled. It didn’t lose battery power but was completely off. I attempted to restart it 5 times. First, it wanted to turn over but didn’t. Second, the engine just clicked a couple times. Third through fifth, it didn’t even attempt to start. There was absolutely no warning that this was going to happen and no check engine lights. After waiting a couple more minutes, it finally turned over, still with no check engine light, and I was able to get myself home safely. We weren’t able to replicate the issue. We Checked the fuel pump, battery power, the starter and checked for any codes even though there isn’t a check engine light on. All of which were fine. I bought this car used and it was apart of the engine recall a few years back. I’ve looked up other peoples description of what happened to them before they had there engines replaced and more than 10 of them were similar to what happened to me today. I have a one year old and am now terrified to even drive my car with her in it because I don’t know if or when this is going to happen again or if it is going to happen while driving next time.

Yesterday I drove home from work and this morning when leaving I notice paint missing from my car near the passenger side of the windshield. There is no reason this should be happening. My car is kept in a garage. This is a paint defect and I would like this taken care of. I will be calling Kia in the morning and will be getting a lawyer.

Car shuts down in the middle of driving and cannot idle. Had transmission 1x lat year and battery replaced 2x. Even after repairs car randomly does this. I have taken it to shops several times but no one knows what the problem is.... When it randomly chooses to do it, I cannot accelerate, and the car power will go out in the middle of driving decreasing the speed dramatically. Right after it does it the car will stop and turn off like it has a dead battery, except it turns right back on. All of the check engine lights on the inside start to going on.... check engine, battery, oil, tire traction etc....

I typically work from home. Started driving on the highway more frequently and one night came out to complete sheets of paint completely delaminated from the roof of my car. It's very clear that there was a process mistake and the paint never bonded to the metal of my vehicle. I also am afraid to wash the roof of my car, in fear of more paint coming off. This spot will likely be an issue during winter as well. Car paint should never do this from the factory, it's setting the vehicle up to fail. This would be considered a latent defect and has affected many vehicles, specifically in the Pearl White paint color such as my own.

Drove approximately 6 miles from home to grocery store, parked car, did shopping and on way home 3 lights lite up on dash, ABS - ESC-TPMS. Just had serviced on 8/1/2022 with 111279 miles, currently has 111,378 miles on it. Vehicle is garage kept and I'm retired. I have had the car serviced at the dealership where vehicle was purchased.

throttle. I was pulling into a parking space my vehicle started to reved up and took off. I had to slam on the brakes to get stopped. I almost hit a building. this was very frightening for me. i had it towed to a dealership. they stated they could not find anything wrong with it. I am not happy with them not finding anything. I am afraid to drive it that i may happen again If i hit the building i would of been seriously injured or killed as well as the people in the building. thank God no one was walking in front of me. they would of been killed.

Paint is delaminating from the vehicle

Paint peeling. It began peeling 3 years ago and has continued to peel at an obnoxious rate. The roof, and hood of the vehicle is where most of the damage is, however you can see new peeling on the area to either side of the windshield.

Transmission doesn’t shift like it should. I have replaced the drive belt, crank sensor, accelerator pedal sensor, tune up, valve cover gasket and still having problems with this car. An recall came up on the engine but Kia dealership only advised me that the issues I paid for above would solve the issue. I just got this vehicle in February and feel like I’m paying for a lemon. Seats no longer want to fold down.

I have emailed Kia three times now with no response. My paint is chipping off my car, and would like it fixed, being that it was a paint recall!!!!

The car brake failed while I was driving. The brake warning light came on. The warning light was off after I added brake fluid. After driving for about 10 miles, the warning light came back on. The car is losing brake fluid fast. I cannot find any trace of brake fluid leak. The car is available for inspection. After I picked up the car from the dealer after motor replacement recall, my remote control for the door lock system no longer works.

My Kia Sorento white paint have been peeling and chipping started on the roof now its starting on left side of my car. Please see if this can be recalled.

When driving at freeway speeds and accelerating the vehicle begins to do a sputtering motion and the looses all speed. Goes from 65mph down to 45mph. I then have no option but to put my hazard lights on and pull over. If you hit the gas it feels as though no fuel is being delivered to the car so there is no power. Once I pull over give the car a minute, turn it on, hit the gas for a bit while parked the car while drive okay until my next 40+ mile drive. No check engine lights have come on. This has occurred multiple times. It is very scary especially with my children in the car. Dealer can’t find problem because there is no check engine light, but this can’t be normal. Please help. The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started and left running for a while there was an abnormal plastic burning odor coming from the vehicle. After researching online, the contact did not believe the issue was related to a fuse but instead believed that there was a heater circuit continuity issue. The contact was concerned that there was an electrical short in the seat heater. The contact stated that there were two warning lights related to the driver’s and passenger’s side front seats. The contact stated that whenever the seat heaters were performing as designed the three LED lights would remain lit however, whenever the failure was present one of the LED lights would flash. During the failure, the driver’s front seat would not seat up normally or would be lukewarm. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. the local dealer was contacted however, the contact was yet to receive a callback. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

on my 2013 Kia Sorento the driving shift is giving me problems. I have to move the gear stick around more then 3-5 times for the car to actually drive. I can reverse with no problems, but when I put the car on drive, it does not drive, until I move the gear stick around a couple of times, then the drive will work. I don't know if its called the drive gear or driving shift. Sorry that I don't know the correct name for this. Hope this gives a clear description on what is going on with my car.

It’s been losing power and suspension is horrible the steering was tight and now it’s so loose there is so much vibration in the floorboard too I know I’m going to lose control soon

My 2013 Ex Sorento when idling with the A/C on, “Pants” or “pulse” struggling to idle. BUT…. If I turn OFF the A/C the RPM “Smooths out” and is consistent in idling. This began about 2019 March. Current miles: 56,000 and current On maintenance, inspections and oil changes. (Two drivers only) Will there be a recall for this?

I continuously am having issues with several light bulbs going out in my vehicle. I have replaced them several times. The headlights, running lights, turning signal bulbs, brake lights, etc. Lights are obviously a very important part of driving, especially at night. I have read complaints from several other Kia owners having the same issue. I am unsure of when the issues started occurring as I purchased the vehicle from the first owner in march or april 2021 and I noticed the issues within a few day of purchasing the vehicle. The vehicle does not have any other issues or warning lights. The light have yet to be inspected.

MY 2013 KIA SORENTO BACKUP CAMERA RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING, AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR A LOT OF KIA MODELS BECAUSE THE CAMERAS ARE NOT PROPERLY SEALED AND GET CORRODED INSIDE OF THEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A PAINT SHOP, AND THEY SAID IT'S A "DELAMINATION" PROBLEM, AND IT'S A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURER'S PAINT. IT WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO WORSEN. I TOOK IT TO KIA (AFTER HAVING MY ENGINE REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE AND SEIZING ON THE HIGHWAY), AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COVER ALL EXPENSES TO FIX IT. NOT ONLY ARE LARGE CHUNKS OF PAINT CHIPPING OFF, BUT ALL THE AREAS ARE BECOMING SEVERELY RUSTED. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!! NOT ONLY IS IT A PAINT DEFECT THAT KIA SHOULD COVER, BUT IT CAN BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IT BEGINS TO WEAKEN AROUND THE WINDSHIELD! I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY ENGINE REPLACED (WHICH I HAD TO FIGHT FOR AS WELL BEFORE ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY ONCE MY CAR SEIZED AT 70 MPH) AND MY PAINT IS COMING OFF IN LARGE QUANTITIES AND RUSTING, DEPRECIATING THE VALUE AND SAFETY OF MY CAR, AND IT'S NOT EVEN 10 YEARS OLD!!! I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE I STARTED FINANCING MY CAR. KIA KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM, YET WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WANT SOMETHING DONE! A RECALL SHOULD BE SET IN PLACE, ESPECIALLY AFTER HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!!

NEXT, THE GAS COVER DOES NOT OPEN NOW. THERE HAS BEEN ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS CAR. I GET IT SERVICED, MONTHLY. IT IS UP TO DATE ON OIL CHANGES, INSPECTIONS, FLUID AND I AM ABOUT TO REPLACE ALL BRAKES, PADS, ROTORS AND TIRES. I FEEL LIKE THIS CARE, WHICH I HAVE ONLY HAD FOR FOUR AND A HALF YEARS, IS DONE.

UPON INSPECTION, I NOTICED THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE HANDLE ITSELF, BUT THE DOOR HANDLE COVER HAD SNAPPED WHERE THE SCREW FROM THE DOOR IS MEANT TO SECURE THE PIECE TO THE DOOR. WHEN I WENT TO KIA, THEY EXPLAINED KIA HAD ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR HANDLES BREAKING, AND THE FIX WAS A NEW DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY; HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM, KIA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL OR OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS AND REQUIRE THOSE AFFECTED TO REPLACE THEM AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE, WHICH IS OVER $150 WITHOUT LABOR COST INCLUDED. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY HAZARD (WITHOUT THE HANDLE, YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE) AND MANY KIA OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE VIA ONLINE FORUMS, AND YET KIA STILL REFUSES TO OFFER A RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION! THE FACT THEY DON'T OFFER A REPLACEMENT HANDLE COVER, BECAUSE IT WOULD CONTINUE TO POSE THIS PROBLEM, AND STATE THE FIX BEING A NEW COMPLETE DOOR ASSEMBLY SHOULD MERIT THEIR EXTENDING A WARRANTY FIX OR RECALL.

I NEVER HAD ANY WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THIS, AND NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN BLINKING. I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES ON MY VEHICLE, AND NOW IT IS THROWING A "P1326" CODE. IT STALLED TWICE PRIOR TO THIS WHILE DRIVING. STARTED TO DRIVE IT AND IT MADE THE SOUND AS IF IT WAS MISFIRING. LATER THAT DAY HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS PLUGS. SO I CHANGED THE PLUGS AND COIL PACKS AND IT DID NOT CHANGE A THING. STILL HAD THAT NOISE AND WHEN YOU ARE GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT WILL START SHAKING AND HAVE TO GEAR DOWN. CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID IT WAS PART OF THE 147 RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT SHOWED THAT IT HAD BEEN FIXED IN 2018. I EXPLAINED THAT IT SHOOK WHEN DRIVEN THAT PLUGS AND COIL PACKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED, HAD TO FILL UP ON OIL INSTEAD OF GAS AND THAT THE OIL HAD GAS IN IT. TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME 230 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT TOWED. NEXT DAY TOOK IT TOO KIA DEALERSHIP WHO SAID I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE MOTOR LOCKED UP BEFORE THEY COULD DO ANYTHING. FINALLY GOT THEM TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID THE MOTOR WAS BAD. IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUGHT FIRE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. BUT YET NOT PART OF THE RECALL SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. NOT ONLY DID KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NHTSA BOTH SAID IT WAS PART OF THE 147 RECALL. I AM WITH OUT A VEHICLE AND STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ONE THAT I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE OR GET FIXED.

I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW OFF THE LOT BACK IN 2013, THE STEREO STOPPED WORKING IN 2016. I HAD ALL THE FUSES CHECKED AND THEY'RE ALL GOOD, SPEAKERS ARE FINE. THEY SAID THE WHOLE STEREO NEEDS TO REPLACED AND QUOTED ME OVER $500 TO REPLACE IT. ONLY THREE YEARS INTO OWNING MY NEW CAR. IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST STOPPED. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN OUR KIA STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. WE SLOWED DOWN AND STARTED TO PULL OVER WHEN WE HEAR PIECES OF OUR CAR BREAKING OFF AND SAW A HUGE CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE. WHEN WE PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR, THE WHOLE UNDERNEATH OF THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. THE ENGINE WAS SEIZING AND CAUSED THE BEARING TO PUNCH A HOLE INTO THE ENGINE. THE PARTS WE HEAR FLYING OFF WERE ACTUALLY PIECES OF THE ENGINE EXTERIOR, WHICH CAUSED SPARKS AND IGNITED THE FIRE WHEN THE ENGINE OIL STARTED POURING OUT. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING AND WE HAVE KEPT UP ON MAINTENANCE. LESS THAN 100K MILES. VIN IS NOT PART OF ENGINE RECALL, HOWEVER IT IS CLEAR UPON LITTLE RESEARCH THAT KIA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THEY DON'T CARE, AND THEY ARE DOING LITTLE TO FIX IT. I PARKED, MADE SURE ALL THE LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF, ARMED THE SECURITY SYSTEM AND WENT INSIDE. BEFORE MY WIFE AND I WENT TO BED I WENT OUT TO MAKE SURE THAT I TURNED ALL LIGHTS OFF WHICH THEY WERE. THIS WAS AT 2:00 AM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED SINCE THAT TIME. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE ALREADY WHERE THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE JUMPED AT LEAST 12 TIMES DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE FALLS WELL WITHIN IT'S WARRANTY SO IT WILL BE COVERED HOWEVER THE ISSUE IS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT IT WARRANTS ATTENTION WHICH I BELIEVE WILL BE IGNORED IF NOT BROUGHT TO LIGHT AND MAY RESULT IN INJURIES OR COST TO OTHERS WHEN NO COST SHOULD BE INCURRED. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I FEEL THIS COULD LEAD TO PROBLEMS WITH STEERING, BRAKING SYSTEM, ENGINE MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS POSSIBLE RISKS OF FIRE DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD REDUCING VISIBILTY AS THE REFLECTIONS CAUSE DISTORTED VISION THRU THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS ON SUNNY DAYS AS THE REFLECTIONS INCREASE DEPENDING ON THE ANGLE OF THE SUN REFLECTING OFF THE SHINY DASHBOARD ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. MAYBE THE DASHBOARD SHOULD NOT BE COATED WITH SUCH A REFLECTIVE AND SHINY MATERIAL TO AVOID THIS ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE SPEED PANEL HAS DETAILED METALLIC PAINT AROUND THE SPEEDOMETER AND PANEL INFO WHICH REFLECTS BEAMS OF BLINDING LIGHT FROM THE SUN AND BRIGHT LIGHTS INTO THE DRIVERS FACE WHILE DRIVING. AGAIN, MAYBE THE METALLIC PAINT AND SHINY REFLECTIVE DESIGN SHOULD BE CHANGED TO NON-REFLECTIVE OPTIONS TO AVOID BLINDING THE DRIVER. ANNOYING FEATURES WHICH CAUSE THE DRIVER TO ADJUST POSITION WHILE DRIVING OR TRY TO BLOCK THE BLINDING LIGHTS AND VISUAL DISTRACTIONS WHILE IN MOTION ARE DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. KIA PLEASE CONSIDER REDESIGNING THESE DANGEROUS DESIGN DETAILS AND INCREASE THE SAFETY FOR EVERYONE. IF CHANGES ARE NOT MADE ON NEWER MODELS, I WILL NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE ANY KIA PRODUCTS AND WILL WARN OTHERS OF THESE DANGERS ON THIS VEHICLE BRAND. SAFETY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN DESIGN SO PLEASE REMOVE THE METALLIC PAINT FROM THE SPEEDOMETER PANEL AND FIND A NON-REFLECTIVE MATERIAL TO COVER THE DASHBOARD. THANK YOU.
