First off, we love the KIA Brand of vehicles. This is our fourth Kia. We also presently own a 2010 Optima with white paint and no peeling issues. Our Sorrento is currently showing (as of today) 133418 Miles. Sad to say that this is the only KIA we have ever owned with this very defective paint issue. Several months ago, I started to see several other 2014 Sorrento with the same peeling paint issues, so it wasn't just our vehicle. Your company is in the business of producing sophisticated and desirable vehicles designed by engineers who can cover all the bases in the manufacturing process. With the exception of this faulty paint issue, KIA has achieved this goal. I can only hope that KIA recognized this paint failure early and will go on to the next design phase. 1n my humble opinion, if KIA wants to keep growing the company brand they need to work like crazy to get to the next level in the paint process. Buyers want to have confidence that things as simple as a paint job will have a long life. In­teresting when you look at very old vehicles for sale and the owners say this is the original paint. Thus, my question is how will KIA remedy this issue with both current and future model owners? l await your reply. I have a problem with the paint on the car; it keeps falling off by itself, and I tried to contact the Kia dealer for this issue, but they said to report here to you.

Paint has peeled off and continues to peel off from many places on the vehicle. One large spot is on top where no debris from the road hits. Since this has started it has only gotten worse. I believe the entire car will be paint free if this situation is not rectified. Currently there are five different locations where the paint has peeled off. Color of my vehicle is Snow White Pearl.

My vehicle's SNOW PEARL WHITE paint is flaking off in large chunks on the windshield pillars (both sides), as well as chipping all over the body. The chipping began in 2018 (2 years after purchase) and the large chunks began in 2022. Paint chunks have flown off my car while driving on the highway. Missing paint is now leading to the body of the car rusting. My car is available for inspection. The dealership has inspected the problem and informed me I am not the first person they have encountered with this same problem. It is specifically common with SNOW PEARL WHITE PAINT. Bubbles are forming under the paint in other spots now, and I am worried about the possibility of it coming off in larger chucks on the hood- which could possibly create a projectile/vision obstruction. I have provided photos to the manufacturer in 2022 and started a case number. I have not heard back since.

I have a 2014 Pearl White Sorento SX. After washing my car recently, two area showed up that have started to delaminate. I talked with my insurance company who came out and told me there are known problems with especially the Pearl White on Kia Sorento so they wouldn't cover anything. Unfortunately those two areas are spreading and three new areas are cropping up. Based on what I've learned since the insurance company informed me of the problem, other Pearl White Sorento owners (2014 and other years) are experiencing continuing delamination. It seems highly likely the delamination will only continue to get worse which will severely impacts the value of the car. I spent several thousand getting an extended warranty that is still good through 125000 miles, with the thought that, in addition to providing protection from a significant problem with the car (e.g., engine, transmission, etc.) it would also increase the value when I decide to sell. The warranty does not cover paint (I don't believe any extended warranties do). I am sure that I've now lost 25-50% of the value of the car which is very, very upsetting. I haven't contacted the dealer I had been going to because they let me drive my car off the lot after servicing it and they forgot to put oil in. Thank god I had an inspection appointment the next with a local shop who showed me the problem. The paint problem is obviously a latent defect. I believe Kia should take responsibility for the problem, but I am fairly sure they won't unless there is a recall. So I am hoping that with enough complaints a recall will be issued. The paint on the body of the car is chipping, and peeling away. There are large patches of paint missing. While driving down the road paint falls off. The paint comes off randomly; allowing the environment to be affected. There is rust forming on the locations the paint, and primer have peeled away at. The vehicle has not been inspected at this time. No symptoms until the paint, and primer started coming off in chunks. I have seen several other 2014, white, Kia Sorentos with paint and primer peeling up. As well as I have found several others online experiencing the same exact issue.

I left my car outside in a light rainstorm while at work. When I arrived back at my car I noticed something off about my paint, I soon discovered it was a water bubble in my paint, this caused my paint to fall off leaving my vehicle with a large chunk of missing paint.

It appears there are numerous people with the same issue with the pearl white paint on the 2014 Kia Sorento, paint bubbling and coming off in chunks. Kia should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to consumers. This is a DEFECT and needs to be rectified immediately. I received quotes for the car to be completely painted and it was from $9,000 to over $12,000. This is more than outrageous. I bought my car BRAND NEW. Cars are very expensive and now my resale value has diminished tremendously. Kia dealership could care less as well as corporate. If it was within the 36,000 miles you might get help, but anything over that, TOO BAD!!! I will NEVER purchase another vehicle from Kia. I wish someone would start a class action lawsuit against Kia because this is immoral to say the least. FINALLY: The car is even worse than the pictures I uploaded for this complaint, and I filed a complaint with Kia and they won't address the problem with the paint. I have all my e-mails with them. I was able to upload some current pictures as well.

The contact owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while the engine hood was opened and raised, the hydraulic hood lift struts failed causing the hood to close down onto the contact's right hand. The contact's hand was trapped under the hood for approximately 30 minutes before help arrived. During the incident, the contact sustained a bruised right hand which did not require medical treatment. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

I have a Kia 2014. Sorento, Snow White mother-of-pearl. In the summer of 2019, I first noticed paint peeling (or what bodyshops call delamination) on the windshield frame. My paint started peeling off in a tiny spot, it looked like a tiny chip of paint the size of a piece of rice, but quickly started flakes all over the body. The dealership says that this is not cover a warranty, since I am not the first owner

My kia Sorento is severely peeling paint. it comes off in chunks. Since it has starting peeling above the passengers side door, it has not stopped. I saw that several other people have had this complaint and Kia has not fixed it yet. Kia will not agree to fix the paint job. My car has a SWP color on it and won’t stop peeling.

The Paint above the front windshield is chipping and continues to get worst with rust and paint. I've seen multiple Kia Sorento just like my model with the same issue. My paint began peeling in a tiny spot I thought was a chip from a rock but rapidly began peeling all over. KIA SORENTO SNOW WHITE PAINT PEELING CHIPPING AND DELAMINATION. I believe the ENTIRE kia needs to repainted and fixing one spot is not the solution!! This includes the top of the car and racks on top, Mine are silver and peeling .

The paint is peeling off of the car. My safety is not at risk but this is a serious manufacturer defect. The defect has been confirmed by the dealer but they are now refusing to repair the paint. The pint has been inspected by auto repair shops and it is called delamination where the paint peels off the primer in sheets. There were no warnings but the paint began peeling in 2018.

The paint is chipping significantly in the area on both sides of my windshield and starting to continue down into the rest of the car. I have a snow white car and my research has shown this make, model, year and color has been reported of having the same problems. It really affects the look of the car. This paint chipping has been going on for the last 5 years or so. I purchased this vehicle used but in 2014 and it is a 2014 so I've owned it for 9 years and it continues to get worse and worse.

I have not had my car a year and the seatbelt light came on 2 days ago. I am keeping the services up and all of these things were supposedly passed during the inspection before I purchased my car. Also, the paint is peeling off the car. There are so many cars that has peeling paint when passing. Paint should not peel like that. I've never had this problem with any car I have purchased.

I own a 2014 Kia Sorento that the peeling is rapidly peeling off ( or what the body shops call Delamination ) . My paint began peeling in a tiny spot I thought was a chip from a rock but rapidly began peeling all over. The vehicle is hand wash and the peeling continues, any water pressure continues to peel the paint including natural weather rain conditions. Mileage of vehicle is 113,000. This is very upsetting as you can wash the vehicle weekly or as needed as it would in race the delamination.

The Snow white pearl paint on my 2014 Kia Sorento has started de-laminating and peeling. It became noticeable on the driver's side door post, which has peeled and grown to a substantial area since I first noticed it. Smaller areas can also be identified on the back bumper, the hood, and several other panels of the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by a certified body shop (Caliber Collision in Happy Valley Arizona). Please contact for additional details if needed. I have the Pearl White color and it is peeling off everywhere! My hood is almost completely gone and it’s now starting to chip on the side near the drivers door. It started off as little chips but now it is in clumps. Somebody told me it was delaminating and a ton of other pearl white kia drivers are reporting this.

2014 KIA Sorento; at 80775 miles the passenger side pillar by the front windshield the Pearl White Paint has peeled off. There was no impact. The paint code is SWP. I see that this is a wide-seen condition of this paint color; Pearl White with the KIA vehicles. I can see other spots on the car that appear to be weak and ready to peel.

Began in august as a minor paint chip to rain. Has continued to progress and flake off more, to now triple the size within three months on the drive side door panel. Chipping has now began on the hood as well. Was informed that this is paint delamination due to poor adhesion of paint.

The paint is delaminating . It is peeling off down to the primer. This is a know problem with Kia. The Kia service manager stated Kia would not make good for the repair stating it has been more the 36 months and the warranty has expired. A heavy rain furthers the peeling. Under the right circumstance in the rain with the peeling sticking to the windshield could cause limited vision during driving and could be hazardous.

We have a 2014 Kia Sorento SLX Pearl white and the paint first started coming off in the front on the hood and bumper cover which we had repaired for a ridiculous amount of money. The body shop said it would be cheaper to just order a new bumper cover and paint it instead of stripping away all the paint on the old one and then painting due to the amount of labor hours required to do so. I have the bill. Then It started coming off around the door/pillar area on the driver side which we then paid again to have repaired. Now as of this week a large piece of pain has just peaked away around the size of a dollar bill on the passenger side pillar above where the door closes into. This is ridiculous that for no reason the paint is just coming off in large sections without any manipulation at all. If it's not fixed( whole vehicle being painted) the paint is just going to keep coming off until their is nothing but bare metal. I should not have to keep having all these place repaired and matched up each time more comes off. Kia should be responsible for getting this repaired.

The paint is pealing around the front door pillars, on the hood and on top in the back of the car. The paint has started to bubble on both sides of the car just behind the back doors. In the attached pictures I try to point out several of them but not all. I have seen so many Kia's with the same peeling issues around town and online.

2014 Kia Sorento in Snow White Pearl. PAINT FAILURE The paint is rapidly delaminating from the hood and rails, as well and new areas on the back of the vehicle. The bare metal is exposed. It is beginning to rust. This began in 2019 at around 80k miles. I've reported it to 3 different dealerships and all have dismissed my complaints, citing the expired factory warranty. This is a known issue and Kia is not addressing it.

The body is experiencing rapid delamination and paint pealing. The paint color is pearl white. The problem began in May 2019. At first, the roof began to peal and now the a-post is pealing on the driver's side. It leaves the bare metal exposed.

Purchased 2014 Pearl White KIA Sorento LX 4/2014. 4/2017 - paint bubbled and chipped on left A pillar. Dealer repaired paint under warranty. 12/2018 - paint continued to bubble and chip on hood and roof. Took to dealer but told would not cover under warranty. Complaint not noted on invoice 7/2020 - paint repaired on left A pillar in 2017 started chipping again. 1/2022 - 13"x3.5" paint section on right A pillar came off. Paint chipping on roof racks. 6/2022 - right front fender bubble and chip. Dealer/Service center - Southwest KIA Round Rock has repaired and looked a paint issue as noted above. The areas where the paint has chipped and not repaired by KIA is rusting due to metal exposure to environmental elements. The rust will weaken the body of the vehicle if not repaired immediately. No warning or messages for this problem.

ON MY 2014 KIA SORENTO , THE PAINT HAS PEELED, IS PEELING SO BAD, THAT IT IS EMBARASSING TO EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS STARTED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO . AT THAT TIME, IT STARTED ON THE HOOD, OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE. TOOK IT TO THE KIA PLACE, AND THEY TRIED TO SAY IT WAS BECAUSE THE VANITY LIGHT MIRROR HAD BEEN LEFT ON OVER NIGHT. THE NEXT VISIT WAS WHEN IT WAS PEELING ALL OVER THE CAR. THEY OF COURSE SAID, IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT.

I have a Pearl White 2014 Kia Sorrento that I bought used with approximately 50,000 miles from Rick Case Kia in Sunrise, Florida. It has 117,000 miles on it today and multiple parts of the paint that is peeling on the hood and roof. I noticed the first paint defect when I bought it, which was on the roof (This is where to largest peel is now). I didn't think too much about it because it was small. I have had lots of trouble with this vehicle like engine failure and wheel hub failure. Then at around 65,000 miles, I noticed that the roof paint had peeled more to be 2 to 3 inches in size. I then called Wallace Kia in Stuart, FL to request a covered repair and they told me that my paint warranty had expired. Since then the paint has continued to peel with exposed rusted metal with some paint defects to be the size of my hand.

Paint is sliding off vehicle Pearle White drivers side, side window frame & top above window. I see many others have made complaints on those issues. Yes this vehicle is 8 years old, but is kept in a garage in the winter, I have never had a problem with other vehicles like this & have them beyond 10 years.

I was informed to report the incidence of paint chipping on this form, although it is not a safety risk. From the images I upload you can see 2 years ago (4/23/2020)there were a couple of small areas of paint chipping where the windshield meets the roof of the car. These areas to my knowledge had no previous damage to them. There are/were a couple areas where there were minor dents (not pictured) which over the years began to peel as well. However just in the last few months (mainly over the winter) those small areas and new areas of peeling have started and grown at an enormously fast rate. I'm afraid to bring my car to a car wash now as it may chip more paint away. When doing research about this model and year trying to find out how to fix this problem I found a forum called Kia-forums.com as well as a facebook group all about the snow white pearl peeling and chipping delimitation problem. While not a safety risk, this is a risk of rust becoming a problem and something I'm very concerned about not only because I plan to keep this car for a long while but if I decided to sell it or trade it in my car is now going to sell for less. As an 8 year old car I understand wear and tear is natural but this is not a natural occurrence and I hope Kia will find a way to recall these cars and fix the paint delamination problem.

The paint on my pearl white Sorento began delaminating or peeling off in sheets on the A bars on both sides of my windshield October 2020. Lots of rust beginning as a result. Auto body shop had never seen anything like it. I did not attempt repair bc of expense and uncertainty that a spot repair would be insufficient if it were to continue in other areas. Out of warranty due to age of vehicle.

2014 pearl white Kia sorrento is peeling paint everywhere. It shouldn’t be doing that and it’s an inferior paint that seems to be a major problem.

Pearl white paint is peeling on the hood, roof just above windshield and side molding next to the windshield. Small chips quickly turn into large areas from rain. All areas were small when I purchased the vehicle in Summer of 2021.

The white paint on this vehicle is delaminating and peeling off in several spots, mostly on the hood door frames and the roof.

After about 59,000 miles I noticed that the paint on my vehicle began to bubble and chip then rapidly began peeling off. Over the years this has gotten progressively worse and has now moved to different parts of the vehicle. I have included images of the vehicle and all of the locations it is peeling. I also included an image of water pooling between the paint and vehicle. This is a great concern as my vehicle is still is continuing to peel and the entire paint job is now compromised and leading to rust and damage to the body. The various parts of the vehicle that are peeling are the roof, the driver and passenger sides above the windows, as well as now the diver's side fender. Pretty soon my entire vehicle is no longer going to be white but rather be rust colored. This is unacceptable and needs to be fixed as this is not normal for a vehicle's paint to peel this quickly and in giant pieces.

Paint is falling off in chunks for no reason. This poses a risk to other drivers who may be negatively impacted by chunks flying off of the vehicle.

The paint started peeling off of my car. My car is almost always parked in my garage, especially since I began working from home in March 2020. It is rarely exposed to the elements. Nothing hit or bumped my car. All of a sudden, a huge patch of paint is missing.

My paint has been peeling off my car the year after I got it an iwas told to contact Kia by one of my coworkers when I worked for Kia and was told because I own my car I have to pay for it out of pocket and that is not right. It is a defective paint job done on all pearl white kia's. All the paint peels down to primer and they tried to tell me it was from rocks or pebbles and that is false as well it is with all kia's and it needs to be fixed asap.

Paint continues to peel on the hood and a pillars of the vehicle. Issue seems to be common enough that something needs to be done. My vehicle will not pass for a safety inspection once its starts to rust/rot due to the loss of paint. The uploaded quote and pictures is for the a pillar peeling, I put a bug reflector over the hood to try to cover it and stop the peeling.

We purchased 2014 Kia Sorento, within the first year it began experiencing “Rapid delamination and paint peeling” on the hood, roof and bumper of our Pearl white Kia Sorento. I have talked with the dealership at every visit and have made many complaints to management. We were advised to contact customer service at Kia.

Chunks of my paint have begun rapidly peeling off of my vehicle. This can lead to structural integrity problems as moisture can penetrate and lead to rust and other damage. There hasn’t been any incidents to the vehicle to cause this.

My pearl white paint is chipping off of my 2014 Kia Sorento.

Pealing paint on roof at windshield and along passenger pillar. Reported same to Kia dealership at which they confirmed the paint pealing is an issue, but they would not repair due to vehicle being outside paint warranty period. There is currently no safety concern, however if the roof at the windshield rusts through, the structural integrity of the vehicle will be compromised.

During the spring of 2019 the paint above my passenger side window began chipping and peeling. As of 07/23/21 there are now addition spots above the windshield, frame of windshield, and hood that have began to chip and peel. The first area is now rusting and I am unable to get a carwash without having big chunks from the roof peel. I did get a quote from a Kia dealership for the paint repair since it is beginning to rust. I will upload that quote.

I STOPPED BY KIA DEALERSHIP TO BE TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO KIA'S WITH THE SAME PAINT COLOR AND THAT THEY JUST HAD A 2020 CAR THAT WAS GETTING RUST DOTS, THE GUY AT THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT MY CAR AND SAID I HAD RUST DOTS IN MY TRUNK DOOR, RIGHT NEXT TO THE SIDES OF THE KIA SIGN. I LOOKED CLOSELY AND HE WAS CORRECT, NOW I'M AFRAID IT WILL START PEELING THERE AS WELL. WHILE THERE THEY CHECKED MY WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT MY PAINT WARRANTY WAS OVER.

COMPLAINT NO.2 WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF IMPACT, NEAR THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, A CRACK APPEARED FROM THE TOP EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD DOWNWARD ABOUT 2.5" LONG. SINCE IT IS NEAR THE REAR VIEW MIRROR I KNOW IT APPEARED WITHOUT ANY FLYING OBJECT HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. SINCE IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOP EDGE, I'M WONDERING IF IT IS A STRESS CRACK AND OTHER KIA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EVENT.

THE PAINT ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM DAY 1 PRACTICALLY, AND KIA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS. WE TAKE GREAT CARE IN OUR CARS AS WE KEEP THEM FOR THE LIFE OF THEM, AND THUS KEEP IT MOSTLY GARAGED WHEN NOT IN USE, AND ESPECIALLY DURING ANY POTENTIALLY ADVERSE WEATHER. FROM DAY 1, ANY HARD BUG, TINY PEBBLE, ETC WOULD CASE THE PAINT ON THE BUMPER TO CHIP OFF AND SUBSEQUENTLY CRACK AND FLAKE. PROBLEMS SEEMED TO HAPPEN EVEN IF WE HADNT DRIVEN IT. AS THE WHITE ONE WE OWN HAS A BLACK PLASTIC UNDERBODY, IT CONSTANTLY LOOKS LIKE OUR CAR IS BUGGY/DIRTY AND HAS ACNE. UPON TAKING TO THE DEALER, AROUND MONTH 4, THEY GAVE ME A PAINT PEN TO HANDLE IT, SAYING IT WASNT EBOUGH OF A PROBLEM. AS IT WAS ONLY ON THE PLASTIC BUMPER, I CHALKED IT UP TO "JUST THERE." NOW, AT 4 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, AFTER 1 LONG CAR TRIP IN THE RAIN (ABOUT 13 HOURS OF DRIVING) THE PAINT ON THE TOP METAL ROOF IS PEELING LIKE TIGER STRIPES AND ITS BEGINNING TO ALONG THE EDGES WHERE THE DOORS MEET THE BODY AND THE HOOD. KIA, EVEN AFTER THEIR DEALER RECCOMMENDED LOCAL PAINT REPAIR SHOP, STATE FARMS INSPECTORS, AND THE LOCAL DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE ALL INSPECTED IT, ARE CONTINUING TO DENY THE PAINT DEFECT, AFTER ALL THOSE ENTITIES HAVE CONFIRMED IT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. NOW, IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE ON THE HOOK FOR OVER $5000+ TO REPAIR THE PAINT BECAUSE WE ARE NOW OUTSIDE OF THEIR WARRANY PERIOD. ITS AWFUL OF KIA TO ADVERTISE A 10YEAR/100K WARRANTY WHILE NOT MATCHING THE INDUSTRY AVERAGE 10YEAR/100K MILE PAINT WARRANTY. THEREFORE, SHE WAS FORCED TO USE BOTH A MANUFACTURER'S VEHICLE SEAT CUSHION AND A THICK CHAIR CUSHION UNDERNEATH THAT, TO BE ABLE TO RAISE HER BODY UP AND CLOSER TO THE DASH. ALSO, THERE WAS AND CONTINUES TO BE A SUBTLE, CHIRPING, RHYTHMIC SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE OR WHEEL WELL. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED HE DID NOT HEAR A NOISE. THE TRACTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TIRES HAD NO TRACTION, AS THEY DID NOT GRIP THE ROAD PROPERLY.
