My problem is with the headlights, in that the condenser lens for the low beam lights has clouded so badly that driving at night has become so dangerous. I have changed the bulbs twice in an effort to correct the problem to no avail. And with the sealed unit not able to be disassembled to clean the lens, my only option is to replace the units at approximately $800 each. This condition in my opinion should not have occurred.

Low beam headlights would work and some times not work and then one day they stopped working completely. We've had everything checked out and there is no explanation as to why this is happening. Replaced headlights, relays, and checked wiring.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that on various occasions while driving at night, the front low-beam headlights failed to properly illuminate and was very dim. The headlight bulbs had been replaced approximately four times, but the failure returned after replacing the bulbs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000.

In the last year I have had to replace my headlight bulbs at least 3 times on each side. My yearly mileage is only around 9,000-10,500. The body shop has tried different brands of bulbs, tried not having the automatic light setting on and only turning on when needed, etc. Nothing seems to correct the issue and once I had them both go out within the same week. They go out so frequently that the shop has an extra set on hand now for when I call. I'm worried if I don't notice one out because I don't drive at night every day that I'll be without either headlight until I can get into the body shop yet again to have changed out.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that on several occasions the front low-beam headlights failed and were no longer illuminated. The headlight bulbs were replaced but the failure eventually reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions and the driver’s and passenger’s side headlights failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that on one occasion there was a burning odor inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front passenger’s side headlight had failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the passenger’s side headlight assembly had melted. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

The lights dim way too quickly. HID basically is garbage. Major safety issue since most people can’t afford to be constantly replacing their headlight assemblies.

Overtime the low beam headlights have become very dim. The bulbs have always blown a lot but I have recently replaced both bulbs and they are still very dim. I ordered high powered LED bulbs and still the low beams are very dim. So dim you can barely see 10 feet in front of you when driving at night. I have to drive with the high beams on to see where I am going. Research online shows this is an issues with the projector type headlights on these vehicle but no recall is there. The headlight are over $600 to replace for an off brand set. Not something that should be going bad on a 2015 car.

Low beams have completely gone out and will not work. High beams and all other lights work fine. Car Burns oil regularly. 2 quarts every 2 weeks is required now ro operate the car. I have only had the car since 2020.

The low beam headlights are very dim even after replacing bulbs. Have replaced 2 sets in less than a year. Not sure if issues are related but I have seen multiple people have posted about dim headlights on this model

Aug 14, 2023

Driving at night on an unlit rural road with the high beam lights engaged, a car was coming in the opposite direction, at which point the headlights were switched to low-beams to not impact the visibility of that driver. The headlights and lighting of the cluster turned completely off for a few moments before the low-beam headlights re-engaged and remained on for the remainder of the trip. The headlights throughout the trip were turned on by having the auto function engaged. This has happened a few times before, but the possibility of having reduced/no vision while driving prompted taking it to a mechanic to be checked out. The issue has not been replicated by a mechanic, and to date has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No warning signs had been present before this and other instances where the lights cut out as headlights are switched from high to low beams or vice versa. The vehicle has also been experiencing a battery drain that has yet to be identified. This has occurred within the last month, and two batteries have been drained within a month.

Hi my vehicle is very dangerous and unsafe when driving at night. I can't see at all when I drive at night. The factory headlight bulbs has not burn out but they was so dim. I replaced them with new ones and still could not see. I WANT AND GOT THE BRIGHTESS headlight bulb for my car and still are dim. I clean the headlight and still did not fix the problem. I drive at night with my high beams on and i still can barley see I and thousands of others have the same problem with a kia sorento and ask the dealership for help and nothing hibings nothing was done I'm afraid to drive my car when the sun goes down I cannot see at all I can't even see when I have my bright lights on I looked online and I see there's thousands of people complaining about this issue and nothing has been done. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR at night I am a single parent kia is putting my life my family and others in danger because they don't want to fix the problem but they know they have one but don't care please help me and others kia sorento is a very popular car and the more on the road with dim headlights the more people or at risk

I bought this car used and never thought to check any problems associated with headlights. The first time I drove it at night, I stopped to see if the lights were even working. I took it to my local garage who has taken care of all my vehicles from Chevrolet S10 to BMW X5. They changed out the bulbs and made no difference. He then contacted various auto parts companies to order the housing for both headlights. The part is priced approximately $600 to $700 each plus his labor. I don’t take this car on the road at night unless absolute necessity. I planned to drive this car for a short period and then give to my grandson. Now, not a chance. He would be safer on the road with a skateboard and a flashlight and he lives in the city of Atlanta. Never have I driven a vehicle that felt more unsafe than this car. In the past, I had a commercial drivers license so I am capable of driving day, night, rain, and shine. Not in this car! This is a problem identified and reported for many years and appears no action has been taken to require Kia to make the cars safe for drivers of their cars as well as the risk to other vehicles and drivers on the road.

The headlights on this vehicle you can’t even tell they are on after dark even after kia of Cape Coral florida tried adjusting them it’s so bad I ended up installing a light bar on there just to be able to drive this after dark if I get in a accident because of this who is liable I just think there should be a repair they should have to do

The low beam headlights on the 2015 Kia Sorento has made it very difficult in viewing the road at night. It is hard to visualize objects within short distance. The socket to install the headlight bulbs point more to the ground instead of outwards. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Jan 23, 2023

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at night at various speeds, the headlights were very dim. The contact stated that the viewing distance was short. The contact used the high-beam headlights to see the road clearly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight bulbs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact called the local dealer and was informed the chrome reflectors might not be aligned. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 77,553.

Lights are very dim, had to put in a brighter lightbulb. All of the sudden today the radio FM/AM Satellite and blue tooth stopped working. 12/22/22 - Driving home the lights stopped working and I was driving in the dark with no lights.

Nov 23, 2022

The low beam headlights are VERY dim when driving at night. Very hard to see unless high beams are activated. Even replaced bulbs with LED's. Helped some, but not much.

Sep 28, 2022

Two things- 1) Headlights replaced in March and dim again, cannot see 50’ in front of the car. 2) Driving on interstate the car sputtered and skipped and missed beats, would not go 55 mph. I left the interstate because it was night and cats were flying up on me. I was 140 miles from home and had to take a regular road at 10pm until 2am.

Sep 5, 2022

Low beam headlights are so dim, Si don't allow my wife to drive at night. Had dealer look at them and change bulbs with a small improvement, but after a while they have gotten so dim that even I don't like driving at night.

Sep 1, 2022 Crash

SC197 completed 11/06/2020, SC212 completed 07/272021. recently found brake fluid leak results on my garage floor several times, but not after each use of vehicle? Also having to replace brake light bulbs often ,because apparently one will fail and all remaining stay on as if one was riding the brake pedal?

May 21, 2022

My vehicle's headlights are dim and do not light the roadway properly, even when they are turned to the bright setting. I am unable to drive it at night or during rainy weather. I have paid hundreds of dollars for replacement bulbs, trying to get the lights adjusted, and for refurbishing the covers. It is available for inspection at any time. With me being unable to see the road at night, it endangers myself and my passengers when driving. This can also result in a danger to other people or property if my vehicle fails to illuminate for me to see them until I am too close to stop/avoid an accident. I have been told by two dealerships that this issue is common with my vehicle and they have not been provided a fix. They have informed me that everyone complains about it, because the headlights tilt in a way that prevents them from lighting the roadway properly. I have been stopped by police officers in the past for my lights appearing to be "wonky" and not lighting the roadway. There are no warning lamps or messages. The issue has been ongoing since it was purchased new in 2015. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a solution.

May 13, 2022

The lowbeam headlights are extremely dim. The high beams are just fine, but the low beams are so dim that it's dangerous driving anywhere at night without the high beams on. I have replaced the bulbs, and a voltage test right before the headlight assembly show significantly less than the 12V standard. At night, when high beams are dangerous to other drivers, I mainly rely on the fog lights to provide at least a little bit of light. The fog lights are significantly brighter than the low beams, which seem nonexistent.

May 4, 2022

The low beam headights are extremely dim. The outer headlight cover is not degraded. It appears to be the inner light cover that is fogged over (just for the low beam light). The lights are aimed appropriately, but you can barely see the road and obstacles at night. It is even worse when raining. The high beam headlights are functioning normally. The low beam lights are significantly dimmer than when it was new. There are no warning lights on the dash or error codes. I don't know exactly when the condition started, but it has gotten worse over time. This is extremely dangerous.

May 2, 2022

The headlights do not illuminate down the road. Visibility at night is greatly impaired. Taken to dealers twice. First dealer in NM said it was just the way they were. Second dealer in Texas did realign the lights. Better but still very poor. I have installed the brightest bulbs allowed by law,

Mar 19, 2022

Low bean headights are extremely dim. Can barely see road and obstacles at night and very difficult to see in rain. High beam headlights function normally. Low beam lights are significantly dimmer than when new. Headlamps are not fogged over. Have not been to dealer yet. Ther are no warning lights (MIL) on dash or codes. difficult to pinpoint when the condition started as it seems to have occured gradually.

Mar 9, 2022

My vehicle was stuck in park. I noted that module 2 fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and smelled smoke. I took my Sorento in to the local KIA dealership for diagnosis. It was determined by a technician that the headlight level sensor and harness pigtail were both significantly melted. It was suggested by the tech to remove the level sensor and that has created a safety issue with the headlights pointing significantly low. The level sensor or headlight leveling system and harness connection are a potential fire hazard and if the component fails, this creates an additional unsafe driving condition with the headlights aiming low.

Feb 20, 2022

Snow Pearl White paint is chipping at various areas of the front portion of the vehicle. I was driving in heavy rain and then noticed a huge chunk just chipped off. Several owners with this paint color have complained of an issue this similar. Headlights are too dim at night. We have family who lives in the country with limited street light and we are forced to use our high beam lights to even see down the road. I turn on my fog lights to add extra light but it’s still hard to see further down the road.

Feb 7, 2022

The headlights are dangerously dim. Purchased this vehicle used. Only used in the daytime the first months. My son started working night shifts and that's when we noticed that it did not light up in front of the vehicle. It was very minimal. I drove the car on a rainy evening and was terrified. Could not see in front of me. Had to drive next to cars to make sure I was in my lane. We cleaned the headlights, it did not improve. We purchased new and brighter bulbs. It is still too dim. It only lights up immediately in front of the vehicle and it is a very dim light. Light barely reaches maybe three feet in front of the vehicle, maybe only two. It is VERY dangerous. I am an experienced driver and I found it frightening to drive at night. My son is recently licensed and it does not feel safe to have him operate that vehicle.

Jan 31, 2022

Both low beam headlights no longer work although all fuses and bulbs have been verified to work. The high beam headlights do work. This appears to be the identical issue that 2011-2013 owners were dealing with. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10159259-0001.pdf. In this instance, the headlight connectors required replacement and Kia extended the warranty to cover that work. Kia will not extend the warranty to 2015 model owners who are having the same problem and the dealership quotes a price of $1880 for just the parts alone.

Jan 20, 2022

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle at night, the low-beam headlights were extremely dim, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who examined the vehicle but found no issues with the vehicle. The low-beam headlights were replaced however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.

The running lights on the front and rear drivers side work half of the time, the plate light seems to turn off when they do. They'll come on for a split second and then go out, or on a good day they'll stay on. Seems like a short in the wiring. It could be a safety issue at night!!!

Dec 12, 2021

Upon accelerating causes a lot of exhaust smoke and bogs down so I can’t get out of the way and others behind me cannot see a thing. Two Kia dealerships refused assistance. The first after I called 12/3 to report that my vehicle issue made additional hazard involving a semi (thank goodness no one wreaked) and it was still smoking and smelled as if something was burning. The other telling me it would be six months at least. The warning dashboard lights did not trigger during or after incidents. The only light that came on ever was the oil light the prior weekend. I had the oil changed, filters replaced as well as the headlights for the third time. Around 44k miles when issues started and escalated quickly. Other problems reported to Arapaho Kia a few years ago consisted of back passenger door not latching. Someone flagged me down on the highway as I had my daughter in her car seat on that side. No warning lights triggered, dealership unable to duplicate issue. Steering control keys controlling opposite functions or not working intermittently. Was told steering control harness needed replacement. Think that was at 18k miles but not sure. Did not have replaced at that time as it mainly affected radio functions hands free calling did stop working. I usually didn’t make calls in the car anyway. I was left with no other choice but to trade the vehicle in before something really bad happened or it self destructed leaving me without out a car still paying on. I could not be without a car for six months as Peak Kia quoted timeframe. Untimely fixing of recall on vehicle likely manifesting these other issues and causing additional damage to vehicle.

Nov 1, 2021

The headlights are very dim and only project approximately 20 feet in front of the vehicle. This creates unsafe night driving. At 65 mph on a highway, there is practically no time to react to an animal or object on the road. I have emails from the manufacturer but I am unable to copy and paste them here. In my discussion with a representative from Kia, I was told I would have to contact the dealer and pay a $160 diagnostic fees s then pay for new headlights, that would be the same as are on the car now. Makes no sense.

Oct 26, 2021

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the headlight bulbs burned out frequently and had to be replaced numerous times by the dealer and several independent mechanics. The vehicle remained at the dealer for the recurring failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My low beam lives are so .com at nite. It is very hard to see.I replaced with others. But they are dim and kept blowing out. Took to Kia dealer for problem. They said I needed to purchase there factory bulbs. I had them replace both. And still they are to dim to drive at night. It is a very bad safety issue. Especially if it is raining out.

Sep 3, 2021

Lowlight beams are very dim. Poor visibility. NHTSA ratings are poor. I’m concerned as to why Kia will not fix the issue. There was no accident but for years I’ve been afraid to drive at night or avoid it. I’ve looked online and see I’m not the only Kia Sorento owner with these concerns. This does make me regret purchasing Kia and I tell everyone I know don’t buy this car.

Aug 24, 2021

The headlights are very dim on my 2015 Kia Sorento, when compared to other vehicles. They only illuminate about 10 feet in front of the car. They need to be replaced with a stronger bulb as it is dangerous driving at night.

Aug 4, 2021

Low beam headlights are dangerously too dim on my 2015 Kia Sorento LX. This is a well known reported issue by many owners. All drivers in my family had many close calls due to poor visibility when driving in the night. Yes I have changed lightbulbs several times, made sure that lenses and reflectors are clean and ground wire is not corroded. A simple search on the internet will tell you the extent of this problem. Many have reached to dealers and Kia but they are told -this is normal. Well it is absolutely NOT normal. It’s dangerous. feeling helpless. LX trim level don’t have fog lights too. Do something please.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they informed the contact that the headlamp assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 153,048.

Headlights keep burning out. I've replaced the driver's side low-beam bulb seven times in the last year and the passenger side twice. Both are currently blown out again.

Jul 13, 2021

Vehicle has low visibility on low beam, even with aftermarket LEDS there is still low visibility with the low beams, car need to be driven on high beam and it is illegal to drive with high beams as you blind cars driving on opposite direction, and a fine could be impose as well.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ADEQUATELY ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY, CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALLACE KIA LOCATED AT 3131 SE FEDERAL HWY, STUART, FL 34994 WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS BE UPGRADE TO LED LIGHTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

MY LOW BEAMS ARE VERY DIM AND IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT. I CAN'T SEE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT.

Mileage: 30

Apr 7, 2021

AFTER REPLACING BULBS, HEADLIGHTS, ESPECIALLY LOW BEAMS, ARE DANGEROUSLY LOW. VERY LOW VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AND EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN THERE IS ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WHEN IT IS RAINING. THIS MORNING ON MY WAY INTO WORK IT WAS RAINING AND ALMOST MISSED A CURVE IN THE ROAD DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY. I SLOWED TO MAKE THE CURVE AND HIT A PATCH OF WATER (AGAIN, BECAUSE OF THE LOW VISIBILITY I DID NOT SEE) AND HYDROPLANED ALMOST HITTING A VEHICLE COMING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT OVERCORRECT AND REGAINED CONTROL BEFORE A COLLISION TOOK PLACE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OTHER TIMES WHEN I COULD NOT SEE THE TURN COMING UP OR ENTRANCES TO EXIT RAMPS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY HOPE WAS THAT CHANGING THE BULBS WOULD HELP, BUT EVEN WITH GETTING THE BRIGHTEST BULBS AT THE AUTO PART STORE, THE LIGHTS ARE STILL JUST AS DIM. IN DOING RESEARCH, I AM FINDING THAT THIS IS A COMIN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES.

Mar 14, 2021

TOOK MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION REGARDING LOW BEAM LIGHTS SHUTTING OFF WHEN I TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS OCCURRED FREQUENTLY WHEN USING HIGH BEAMS. ALSO, MY HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS) CONSISTENTLY BURNT OUT. HAD TO INSTALL 2-3 NEW BULBS IN EACH HEADLIGHT (WITHIN 1 YR.). MECHANIC SAID PROBLEM IS MORE THAN JUST THE LIGHTS, THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS BAD AND NEEDED MORE WORK THAN WHAT THEY WERE WILLING TO DO AND RECOMMENDED ME GOING BACK TO KIA. DRIVING HOME FROM MY MECHANIC, I WAS ON THE SURFACE STREETS TO GET ON THE FREEWAY, A KNOCKING NOISE OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING, SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO THROW A ROD, WHICH LED ME TO CHECK THE OIL. MY OIL CHANGES ARE COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE AND WAS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR 3,000 MILES. THE OIL WAS BONE DRY. I PUT IN 4 QUARTS OF OIL AND DROVE ON SURFACE STREETS, BACK TO MY MECHANIC. MECHANIC SAID IT IS ABOUT TO THROW A ROD AND THAT I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT SLOWLY AND GET IT TO KIA. AS I DROVE THE CAR HOME ON THE FREEWAY, I WAS IN THE NUMBER ONE LANE, PASSING A SEMI-TRUCK IN THE NUMBER TWO LANE, CAR STARTED SHAKING, ALL THE LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING, THE ORANGE STEERING WHEEL WARNING LIGHT WENT ON AND THE ENTIRE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD NO HAZARDS OR BLINKERS. TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND CHECKED MY OIL, HE SAID THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS AND BARELY ANY OIL. TOWED THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOME AND IT NOW SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY. PRIOR AND DURING ALL OF THIS, NOT ONE TIME DID ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD GO ON (OTHER THAN THE ONE STEERING WHEEL LIGHT WHEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN).

I LOGGED INTO CREDIT KARMA LOOKING AT MY CAR DETAILS AND SAW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRACTION. IVE NOTICED MY TRACTION LIGHT ON IN THE CAR; HOWEVER, DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT AS THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED IN AS NORMAL. THE LIGHT IS ON CONSISTENTLY.

Feb 19, 2021

WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND DO NOT PROJECT FAR ENOUGH AHEAD TO SEE THE ROAD TO BE ABLE TO SEE. THE BRIGHT LIGHTS MUST BE ON IN ORDER TO PROPERLY SEE, HOWEVER THEY TOO ARE NOT WHAT THEY SHOULD BE. THE BRIGHT LIGHTS WHEN ON, ARE MORE OF WHAT THE DIMS SHOULD BE. ALL NEW HEADLIGHTS(BULBS) WERE INSTALLED AND DID NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. THE CAR HAS BEEN LIKE THIS EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IT AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS EXTREMELY DARK AT NIGHT AND/OR DRIVING IN WET/FOG OR SNOWY WEATHER. LIGHTS ARE SO DIM YOU WOULD BE UNABLE TO SEE DEER FAR ENOUGH IN ADVANCE TO SAFELY SLOW DOWN AND AVOID THEM. THIS PROBLEM IS THE CASE ON ALL ROADS EXCEPT CITY STREETS THAT ARE LIGHTED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON 11/22/2019

CAR WAS DRIVEN A NIGHT AND HEADLIGHT WERE TERRIBLE. VAGUELY LIGHTS A A ROAD SIGN ON A DARK STREET AT 100 YARDS. BOTH BULBS HAVE BEEN RECENTLY REPLACED. SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THESE CARS. CONTACTED KIA AND GOT NO HELP OTHER THAN TAKE TO DEALER AND PAY SERVICE FEE. OTHERS HAVE RECEIVED NO HELP. USUAL ARE TOLD IT IS JUST THE WAY THESE LIGHTS ARE. THESE LIGHT WILL NOT LIGHT A CLOSED GARAGE AT NIGHT.

LOW BEAM LIGHTS GO OFF/ON RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES WILL WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN ONE OR BOTH LIGHTS WILL GO OUT. WHEN THE DUST COVER IS REMOVED AND THE LIGHT SOCKET ASSEMBLY IS TOUCHED, THEN LIGHT WILL COME ON. HOWEVER, MOVING THE WIRES OR SOCKET ASSEMBLY DOES NOT CAUSE LIGHT TO GO OUT. THEN THE LIGHT LATER RANDOMLY GOES OFF. ALSO, I HAVE REPLACED MANY LOW BEAM BULBS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.

Mar 1, 2020

MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT HIT A KEEP BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH 47000 MILES, AND IT NOW HAS 106000. IN NOT QUITE 60K MILES I HAVE REPLACED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS 7 TIMES. WHEN REPLACING I HAVE FOLLOWED THE OWNERS MANUAL PROCEDURE EACH TIME. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH OF VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS REVEALS THAT I AM FAR FROM THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALER, THEY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS ANY ISSUE, AND THAT REPLACING THE LIGHTS THIS MANY TIMES IS JUST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE BOTH LOW BEAMS BURNED OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY, MAKING IT NECESSARY TO USE HIGH BEAMS JUST TO GET TO A STORE AND BUY REPLACEMENTS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION.

WHEN MY WIFE GOT THIS VEHICLE SHE TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT I DROVE THE VEHICLE AND I COULDN'T SEE THE ROAD EITHER SO I WENT TO KIA AND THEY PLACED NEW BULBS IN THERE AT FIRST WE THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS GREAT BUT AFTER A MONTH IT WAS BACK TO BEING VERY DIM AT NIGHT. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO KIA AND THEY SAID IT'S YOUR BULBS I'M LIKE THESE ARE KIA BULBS AND SO THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO CHANGE THE BULBS OUT SO I DID. WELL ONCE AGAIN AFTER A MONTH THEY WERE DIM. I NOTICED THE BULB BURNT OUT . SO I WENT TO ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND BOUGHT NEW BULBS. THE LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT SO I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING HERE THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED WHETHER IT BE ELECTRICAL OR SOMETHING ELSE. THANK YOU.

LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. ON MOUNTAIN ROADS IN VERMONT I NEEDED HIGH BEAMS CONSTANTLY TO HAVE REASONABLE SIGHT DISTANCE. ON INTERSTATE ROADS THE LOW BEAMS BARELY LIGHT 2-3 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD OF ME.

THE LOW BEAM BULBS KEEP BURNING OUT IN THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS. I'VE REPLACED THEM FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD DIAGNOSE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE LOOKED AT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY FOUND A BURNT HARNESS IN THE LAMP ASSEMBLY AND THAT THE WHOLE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED $1100.

THE LOW BEAMS HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT AT ALL YOU CAN'T SEE WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, IT'S REALLY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU YOU'RE TURNING CORNERS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT BRIGHT SO YOU CAN'T SEE PEOPLE CROSSING THE STREET. ALSO IF YOU TURN OFF YOU HEADLIGHTS WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE DASHBOARD IS STILL VISIBLE SO YOU CAN'T TELL IF YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON OR OFF.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM AND ARE NOT REPARABLE WITH BULB REPLACEMENT. WE WERE TOLD THE HOUSING IS FLAKING.

Oct 8, 2019

I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THEN IT SLOWED DOWN TO 40 MPH AND CUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY. I CRANKED IT BACK UP AND IT MADE A WEIRD NOISE. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT SHOULD BE HAVING MOTOR ISSUES. THE OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHANGED ON TIME. ALSO I HAVE TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT

THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT HAS A LOOSE CONNECTION. THE BULB IS GOOD, BUT THE CONNECTION IS NOT. YOU CAN MOVE THE CONNECTION AND THE LIGHT COMES ON, BUT THE BULB/CONNECTION MOVES AGAIN AND THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THIS CAN CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS.

THE DIM HEADLIGHTS IN THE 2015 KIA SORENTO HAVE BURNT OUT MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLAMPS 4 TIMES IN A 15 MONTH WINDOW. I AM UNCERTAIN WHEN THE ACTUAL LAMPS BURN OUT, BUT I DO NOTICE AS I AM DRIVING. I DO NOT HAVE AN AUTO FEATURE ON MY CAR FOR THE HEADLIGHTS SO I MANUALLY TURN THEM ON BEFORE I DRIVE. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS HAPPENED IN MARCH OF 2018 AND HAS BURNT OUT MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE.

THE ABS, ESC, AND LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR FIXED AND THE LIGHTS STILL COME ON. CITY KIA TOLD US TO IGNORE THE LIGHTS CAUSE THE SENSOR WAS BAD. BUT THAT'S NOT A GOOD ENOUGH ANSWER. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE DULL AND ARE HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT, WHICH I DO A LOT OF NIGHT TIME DRIVING. THE IMAGE I AM ATTACHING IS ONE I TOOK AFTER HAVING REPAIRS MADE ON MY CAR.

NIGHT TIME DRIVING IS DIFFICULT WITH THE HEAD LIGHTS. BRIGHTS ARE VERY BRIGHT AND WILL LIGHT UP 300+ FEET. NORMAL LIGHTS WILL LIGHT UP MAYBE 20FT. IT IS MAINLY CHALLENGING TO SEE WHEN THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS OR OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD.

THE PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT WENT DIM (WHILE BRAKING) AND THEN STOPPED WORKING (ONLY WHEN BRAKING). REPLACING THE BULB DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. KIA DEALER SAYS THEY WILL HAVE TO PUT ON A MACHINE AND THEY THINK ITS AN INTERNAL COMPUTER ISSUE. I HAVE NOTICED MANY OTHER SORENTO'S WITH THE EXACT SAME TAIL LIGHT OUT WHEN BRAKING.

HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON. ONE WILL FLICKER ON EACH TIME THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS TURNED ON BUT WILL THEN SLOWLY GO OUT. NO HEADLIGHTS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THE KEY FOB ALSO HAS INTERMENTENT DISFUNCTION LIKE THE BATTERY IS GOING OUT BUT IT IS NEW BATTERY. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH SAME ISSUES. HEADLIGHT ISSUE WITH BAD CONNECTORS FOR THIS MAKE MODEL AND YEAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT FOR SOME REASON DOESN'T INCLUDE MY CARS VIN. NEEDS TO BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED TO INCLUDE MORE VIN.

MY COMPLAINT IS THE LOW BEAM ON MY 2015 KIA SORENTO HAS VERY POOR VISIBILITY AND BURNS OUT TOO FREQUENTLY. MY LOCAL KIA DEALER DOESN'T EVEN CARRY THE REPLACEMENT BULB FOR THIS VEHICLE. TOLD ME TO GO BUY IT AT WALMART, WHICH I DID. HOWEVER, ONE BURNED OUT WITHIN 4 MONTHS (I CHANGED BOTH AT THE SAME TIME PER RECOMMENDATION). BOUGHT REPLACEMENT AGAIN (COST $37.00) AND BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO REPLACE THE OTHER ONE BURNED OUT. I THINK THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE POOR VISIBILITY (LOW LUMENS) AND FREQUENT BURN OUT. CAN YOU OFFER ANY ADVICE? THANK YOU.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FOR HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY DEFECTIVE. WE HAVE HAD NON-WORKING HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WHEN REPLACING WHAT WE THOUGHT WERE FAILED, BURNED OUT LAMPS, THE LAMPS WOULD WORK AGAIN JUST BECAUSE I HAD BEGUN REMOVING THE LAMP. THE JOSTLING OF THE CONNECTOR WAS SUFFICIENT TO "FIX" THE CONDITION. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR A FIX ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS, THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER PARTS, WHICH TOOK SEVERAL DAYS TO ARRIVE. ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS, WE WERE CHARGED $20 FOR REPLACING A BAD LAMP, WHICH I AM SURE WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. DRIVING WITH A DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHT OR TAILLIGHT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE KEEP LAMPS ON HAND IN THE CAR, SO THAT WE CAN SHOW A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER THAT WE HAVE A REPLACEMENT IN CASE WE SHOULD BE STOPPED FOR A DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHT, TAILLIGHT OR STOP LAMP.

HEADLIGHTS (MAINLY LOW BEAMS) KEEP BURNING OUT AND NEED BE REPLACED ABOUT EVERY 6 MONTHS TO YEAR AND HALF. THIS TIME WHEN I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE LEFT LOW BEAM BULB, I NOTICED THE BULB WAS OUT WHEN I WAS JUMPING THE CAR DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. A DAY LATER THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN SO I TOOK IT OUT AND HAD IT TESTED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE BATTERY WAS FINE. CAME HOME AND TESTED THE POWER TO THE HEADLIGHTS BOTH WHEN THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND COMPLETELY OFF (ALL LIGHTS AS WELL AS ENGINE). POWER IS RUNNING TO THE HEADLIGHT EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND NOT ENOUGH THAT THE HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATES BUT ENOUGH TO CONSTANTLY DRAIN MY BATTERY IF THE CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS!!!! LOOKING AT OTHERS WITH THE SAME HEADLIGHT ISSUES AS WELL AS MANY SAYING WIRES HAD MELTED AND SOME FIRES HAPPENING. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. I WILL UPDATE IF ABLE TO WHEN I FIND THE CAUSE

WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR, EVERYTHING FLICKERS LIKE THE BATTERY IS DYING, THEN IT WILL CRANK, BUT NOW ALL OF THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND WON'T GO OFF AND IT IS DINGING LIKE THE KEYS ARE STILL IN THE IGNITION, BUT THEY AREN'T.

MY KIA SORENTO HAVE PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT IN FOR A RECALL TWO WEEKS AGO. THEN THE NEXT DAY AFTER THAT I HAVE 2 MORE LIGHT COME ON. THE ABS LIGHT AND SOME OTHER LIGHT UNDER THAT. DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THAT. THEN MY SENSOR FOR MY TIRE IS ONE . I HAVE BRAND NEW TIRE. ALSO MY HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT EVERY TWO WEEKS THIS HAVE BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR.

HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM BULBS CONTINUE TO BURN OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THREE BULBS IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR ANSWERS AND HAVE ONLY FOUND COUNTLESS OF OTHER KIA OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS WILL BURN OUT AND INHIBIT YOUR ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT.

May 27, 2018

HEAD LIGHTS TOO DIMMED/I HAVE TO USE HIGH LIGHTS OFTEN DURING MY DRIVING./HAPPENS DURING THE NIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENS ANY TIME I USE THE CAR AT NIGHT. I HOPE HIS CAN CHANGE. NOT SAFE FOR DRIVING AT NIGHT.

HEADLIGHTS KEEP PREMATURELY BURNING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT BULBS 4 TIMES IN 2.5 YEARS. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH BOTH KIA REPLACEMENTS, AND AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENTS. MAKES NO DIFFERENCE, THEY LAST 6-8 MONTHS. FORTUNATELY BOTH SIDES HAVEN'T BURNED OUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT'S USUALLY 1 SIDE THEN THE OTHER.

THE WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY COME IN AND OUT OF WORKING CONDITIONS. YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN WIPERS ARE WORKING UNTIL IT STARTS RAINING SO IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS. WE HAD TO PULL OVER AND EITHER WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO STOP OR WAIT UNTIL THE WIPERS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE BACKUP CAMERA ALSO COMES IN AND OUT. YOU CAN SEE THE SCREEN WARNING YOU TO BE CAREFUL BUT THE CAMERA ITSELF IS ABSENT. THE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF ONTO THE FLOOR WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. NO ONE HIT IT OR ANYTHING. WE OPENED THE BACKSEAT IN FRONT OF OUR HOME THEN DROVE TO THE AIRPORT AND TRIED TO OPEN IT AGAIN AND IT FELL OFF ONTO THE GROUND. THE TOP OF THE DOOR HANDLE AND PARTS INSIDE THAT MAKE THE HANDLE WORK. AND NOW MOST RECENTLY OUR AC IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY COMING IN AND OUT OF PROPER FUNCTION, NOR ARE OUR HEADLIGHTS WORKING AGAIN. YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE WORKING UNTIL YOU NEED THEM SO WE USED FOG LIGHTS INSTEAD AS EVENING JUST SET AND WE COULDN'T WAIT FOR THE SUN TO COME OUT TO CONTINUE DRIVING. FOR A BRAND NEW CAR THERE ARE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR, OTHERWISE WE LOVE IT AND THE WAY IT DRIVES AND BRAKES SO WELL.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT THE ROAD IS NOT VISIBLE. MY CARS' LIGHT METER VALUE IS 77LU COMPAIRED TO A NIEGHBORS' HEADLIGHT VALUE OF 489LU WITH THE SAME LIGHTS. THIS LOW HEADLIGHT OUTPUT VALUE MAKES THIS CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS AND AT NIGHT. THE LOCAL PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA DEALERS' SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH MY HEADLIGHTS. P.S. THE SERVICE MANAGER DID NOT USE A LIGHT METER. HE "EYEBALLED" IT IN THE PARKING LOT IN DAYLIGHT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ON/OFF SENSOR FAILED TO ILLUMINATE DURING NIGHT HOURS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT SENSOR FAILED TO POWER OFF THE HEADLIGHTS OFF DURING THE DAY. THE CONTACT HAD TO POWER OFF THE HEADLIGHTS MANUALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.
