2015 KIA SORENTO Unknown Or Other Problems

Oil pressure sensor and leaking oil. Also paint peeling off badly. Snow pearl white. I purchased extended warranty and dealer never fixed anything.

Paint randomly flys off the vehicle while driving. There are many documented issues with this white pearl coat on my year of vehicle where the paint did not adhere correctly to the base coat.

White vehicle paint is peeling. Was told by dealer it's a known issue and is awaiting defect with paint manufacturer.

September 2024, the engine cooling fan began staying on after shutting off the vehicle, and October 2024, we began to hear unusual engine noises and a bubbling sound from behind the dashboard. November 2024, we began to see intermittent poor performance with the HVAC system, and then on [XXX], the temperature gauge climbed to H. We called Matthews Kia of Greece, 4321 W Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14626, and brought the vehicle in on 11/15/2024. Matthews Kia had the vehicle from 11/15 to 11/29/2024. They reported performing a coolant pressure test and block test but found no signs of a coolant leak. They opened a tech line case under warranty extension WTY039, and they were told to release the vehicle. Matthews Kia informed us that the coolant reservoir appeared to have “an odor of alcohol” and some contamination, so we paid for a coolant flush at 140,438 miles (previous coolant flush was completed at 127,057 miles). We drove the vehicle for two more weeks. During that time, the check engine light turned on, and the temperature gauge would rise to H and then slowly descend back to standard operating position. We returned the vehicle to Matthews Kia on 12/13/2024, with 141,266 miles. They reported not being able to identify the source of overheating, and they indicated that the vehicle did not meet qualifications for the extended warranty under TSB #254. Matthews Kia suggested replacing the thermostat. This was replaced, and motor oil and coolant were topped off on 1/3/2025 with 141,280 miles. Within ten miles of leaving Matthews Kia on 1/3/2025, the check engine light came back on. During the following week, HVAC system also stopped blowing hot air and would frequently only blow cold air. The temperature gauge began rising to the H mark repeatedly on short trips (7-10 miles). We spoke with Matthews Kia on 1/16/2025, and returned the vehicle to them for further evaluation. Problem: exploding panoramic sunroof in KIA Sorento 2015 I was driving on a smooth, paved two-lane road in a rural area. No cars were nearby (thankfully). car Internal temp: 64. outside external temp: 64 (I specifically made note of this because I thought a temperature differential could explain the explosion, but my car has a digital readout of both temperatures, and they matched exactly.) Sunroof was closed at the time, and I was not trying to open/close it. When the sunroof exploded, I heard a deafening, "exploding" sound. Initially, I thought my car had been shot by a bullet, based on the sound. The loud noise caused me to swerve and quickly brake. Fortunately, there were no vehicles nearby with which I could collide due to my erratic reaction. I pulled to the side of the road and got out to look. Initially, I did not see any damage, but eventually, I climbed onto my seat and saw my sunroof had exploded up and outwards (indicating nothing had entered the car from the outside). Photo available. I was on a road which bisects two agricultural fields (no nearby objects could have fallen or been thrown on my sunroof to cause damage.) The cause remains unknown, but I can rule out foreign objects hitting my car and temperature differential. I drove the car to the KIA dealer and left it there for a week to have it repaired by KIA representatives. Repair invoice available. No other representatives inspected the car. There was no warning of anything - no lights, no message, no bell, just a sudden, incredibly loud noise. My canvas sun shield was closed at the time, and this prevented glass from making contact with my body, but there was a great deal of glass on the top of the sun shield.

The car is Snow White Pearl and the paint is delaminating from the car in a large area and is growing. There was no impact or damage to the affected area. This is on the exterior of the car on the passenger side pillar next to the windshield. This seems to be happen to a lot of Kia/Hyundais in that are white.

Bought a 2015 Kia Sorento that is Pearl white. Got the car without any knowledge of the pearl white issues. For a beautiful color it is the worst paint job I have ever seen a manufacturer put out. The paint code is steadily flaking off and I'm finding new spots what seems to be daily now. My 2003 Tahoe paint job is holding up better than what my 2015 Kia paint job is. Kia needs to fix their crappy paint job it's hard to enjoy this color when it's flaking and won't even stay intact

Front doors are able to be open while the car is in gear and being driven, even after automatic doors locked when putting in gear. My grandson grabbed the handle and opened it and almost fell out while I was driving.

I was on the highway with my family, when we started to smell smoke,and the car began to slow down I proceeded to get off the highway to pull over to the side the of the road oil light came on and some more signal came on .so my son told me to open the hood it was dark so I could not find the latch so he bent his head down and that’s when he seen fire he told everyone to get out the car.!,,,and we got away from the car that’s when the whole car blew up.very dramatic night in which I had my grand babies,the fire fighter believes it was electric all,my insurance I missed my payment day..so I had no insurance and I have no car.

2015 Kia Sorento LX has large pieces of paint chipping off from the driver and passenger side pillars (between front and side windows). It started as a few small areas, but now when it rains large pieces of paint blow off and stick to the drivers side & passenger side window while I'm driving. I've seen many other Kia's with the same Snow White Pearl color which have the same area of paint chipped. Is this an issue which is covered by Kia since it is so common? I have a new spot starting to chip on the passenger side door (added to the attached pics). This started about a year ago with a few small chips, but the pieces that come off now are getting larger. We had a full week of rain last week and I can see many large areas which are ready to come off and will do so next time I drive, esp in the rain. If the hood starts chipping and large paint chips were to blow on my front window during the rain that could be a big issue.

I was told to submit a claim with you all by others facing the same issue with paint. I have had this car for nearly 3 years and am missing more and more paint every day. It’s missing on the hood as long as driver pillar. Kia told me there’s nothing they can do. I see Kia’s like mine all the time with the same issue.

Low beams have completely gone out and will not work. High beams and all other lights work fine. Car Burns oil regularly. 2 quarts every 2 weeks is required now ro operate the car. I have only had the car since 2020.

I am unable to open the right rear door of my 2015 Kia Sorento from the outside. The child safety lock is engaged and thus I am unable to open that door from the inside. All other doors work correctly. This information has been confirmed by a Kia dealer service department.

Paint peeling/rapid delamination (bubbling) on 2015 Kia Sorento (Snow White Pearl color) on FRONT PASSENGER PILAR AND CENTER ROOF. Great condition, 109,000 easy miles. Large chunk of paint came off today 10/31. Cost - estimate 10/2023 $5000. Why is this allowed? Obviously Kia has errors in the painting process - too many people with same complaint - seems only for Snow White Pearl. These cars are not worth it.

The paint is delamanating and flaking cause value to drop daily. A 2015 should not have this issue, Toyota recalled for the same issues. It start with a very small spot and has incresed daily in size and new spots are appearing daily.

On Thurs 8/24/23 approx.5/5:30 I was driving home on highway 290 and my Kai Sorento 2015 just quit. No warning of any kind it just quit. I had no steering so had to hang on tightly to the wheel. It was rush hour and I was on a highway doing speed limit of 55. How I and anyone behind me was not in a serious serious accident is unbelievable. The car would not start again and has not started since. Had to be towed home. Since it is the weekend I haven't been able to have it towed to a shop. This is a very serious problem to have nothing wrong and no warning at all and your vehicle just quits in the middle of rush hour doing 55mph. I can't believe there is no recall abt this issue. The paint just above my windshield at the center is bubbled up and stater peeling and is now rusting. It is also peeling on my drivers door just above the window. The paint color is Pearl White

I own a 2015 Kia Sorento that the peeling is rapidly peeling off ( or what the body shops call Delamination ) . My paint began peeling in a tiny spot I thought was a chip from a rock but rapidly began peeling all over .

As I was driving my grandchildren I heard a banging sound in the engine. I checked for warning lights, and none were showing. I drove the car to a reputable mechanic who after listening to the sound told me that driving the car was not safe. I had the car towed to the KIA Service Department in Anderson, SC. to have a KIA mechanic assess the engine. My biggest concern is that NO warning lights came on. I shudder to think what might have happened if I had been in the middle lane of an Interstate with my grandchildren when the engine failed. KIA said the engine is not under warranty; which is true. However, with the warning lights NOT coming on I believe replacement of an engine should be considered. We have been loyal KIA patrons but at this point I am not comfortable purchasing another KIA. Currently the dealership says it will 8 -9 week before the engine could be replaced. According to the mechanic we spoke to they only replace two engines a day which means we are without a car and having to rent one on our own.

My engine for this 2015 Kia sorento failed on 6/1/2023. This can put others at risk because Kia continues to know that their Theta ii engines can fail and have not done enough to prevent this problem. Additionally, there are not enough kia technicians available to diagnose engine failures in a timely manner. I have been waiting 3 weeks and my car has yet to be diagnosed. Kia should not be allowed to continue selling any models that have the Theta ii engines until they properly support individuals that have been affected by this problem.

UNKNOWN My issue is PAINT DELAMINATION. I own a 2015 KIA Sorento, color is PEARL WHITE. I understand that this type of factory paint defect is not uncommon with a 2015 KIA Sorento, especially with the color being pearl white. Here is a description and timeline of my paint delamination: Sept 2022, I noticed a relatively small paint chip (1" x 4" long) on the drivers side pillar. Very unusual but I didn't overthink this paint peeling scar. Feb 2023, on the same pillar, the delamination enlarged to 4" x 10" and I became fully aware of this factory defect. A few weeks later, Feb 2023, I noticed paint had chipped off and peeled off the roof , located directly above the windshield. Now I'm considering a visit to my KIA dealership, in West Covina, to show them my car. I'm totally confused and worried about the paint condition of my car. In late March 2023, I noticed a small paint chip on the passenger side pillar. I touched it gently and the paint delamination in this area did what it does. It easily peeled off with the slightest touch. Now, I'm convinced that I need to discuss this factory defect with KIA. A week later, April 2023, while washing my car the water pressure from my garden hose literally peeled off enormous amounts of paint from the defected areas. In fact, some paint chipping started on the hood. I also noticed paint blisters and bubbles on the side doors. Those blisters will soon peel off with wind or water. I will download pictures of the delamination infested car. This is undoubtedly a factory defect issue. Any car company that values their product and their reputation would own (admit) the obvious facts regarding the paint defect issues and recall the Sorentos (Pearl White). Honor and product integrity is a basic characteristic for a major automobile company like KIA. My Dad is a KIA owner, myself and my grandson are KIA Sorento owners. I trust that my complaint will not fall on deaf ears.

Our kia has problems with the camshaft sensor and when we described the issues we were having to our dealer he immediately said it was the camshaft sensor and apparently there are a lot of issues with this model with the sensor. Our car kept on stalling and when my husband was stopped at a red light yesterday the car wouldn't start and was a safety concern for him, luckily he wasn't hit from behind just made a lot of other drivers mad. I believe kia knows about this problem but hasn't acknowledged it yet. When we left it with the dealer he said parts are on backorder but you could drive the car if you want, we feel that is so unsafe and total disregard for his safety. I'm hoping someone could look into this and the total disregard of the dealership for advising us to keep driving this unsafe vehicle until they can repair it for us. The car started having issues a week ago, it wouldn't start, then it was fine until last Saturday night and the engine light came on. So when we were bringing it to the dealership to have a look at it, it stalled again at the red light. We feel this could have been a serious issue had the other vehicles behind is not stopped and hit us while in the car. Also the repair mechanic automatically knew the issue so obviously it's not the first car in there with this problem

The car's paint has been peeling off. I purchased the vehicle when it had 49,000 on it in 2020. A few months later i noticed some chipping on the hood and above the front window. I called Kia and they said there was no recall. More and more paint had chipped and today i was at the dealership for service no paint chip on my door and when i got home a big chunk of paint was missing. I did not notice it before leaving the dealership because my door was open for me to sit in. The paint is snow white pearl. The 2014 sorento was recalled for this and the paint on the 2015 is chipping in the same areas. It is evident that something is clearly wrong with this paint. I have seen other kia sorentos in my area with the snow white paint and they also had paint chipping in the same areas. Please help. I love my vehicle but this is making my Kia look horrible.

My friend was driving my car this am and an unknown driver ran the stop sign on a side street off from Stuyvesant and hit my vehicle my friend proceeded to get out my vehicle to exchange ins with the other driver as she declined my friend tried contacting me numberous times by FaceTime and phone when I finally answered the FaceTime she snapped a picture of the back of her vehicle as she was proceeding to leave I told my friend I will contact the police department to do a report because we have her license plate number and car as well

My 2015 Kia Sorento began peeling paint on the roof top and side window panels and is continually getting worse. When communicating with my dealership, they stated it was out of warranty and to contact a local body-shop. I believe this is a Latent Defect, and should not be treated under the standard paint warranty in the owners manual. Please let me know the next steps.

My 2015 KIA Sorento at around 90,000 miles started getting areas where the paint is bubbling. At 98,975 miles after a hard rain (no hail) a large spot of paint peeled off on the passenger side pillar around window. It is also starting on hood and above windshield. The color of my is Snow White Pearl. I have reported it to KIA and have a case # [XXX]. They are not responding to my emails. August 29. 2022 is the date of the major peeling. The paint is chipping off my 2015 Kia Sorrento. It’s especially bad right above my windshield but it’s chipping in a couple other areas and progressing quickly. It only has 90,000 miles on it. This should not be happening.

The vehicle is leaking water inside the car cabin. The front passenger and driver side are soaked with water. If the air conditioner comes on, it sounds like I’m boiling water. It also fogs the windows from the inside.

Kia’s ignition on older models is insufficient with standards. They are refusing to do anything about the fact that there is not an immobilizer on the ignition and the vehicle can be stolen with a USB. A recall needs to be made so that they are required to install a fix for those that own Kia models affected. If there is a different agency this should be reported to please respond so I may contact them.

My 2015 Kia Sorento LX is peeling paint on the passenger side pillar after a hard rain. I have found many other complaints about the same thing from other Kia Sorento owners after some looking. There should be no reason for the paint to be peeling like this and needs to be repaired before rust begins. My Sorento is available for assessment at any time. This began the night of July 9th, 2022.

10/2021 Drove to store (about 20 minutes). Shopped for about 1 hour. Started to leave parking area and enter ramp to highway when the engine stopped. Everything went off. No warning. No check engine light, no maintenance light, nothing. I was able to steer back into the parking area. Put car in park and waited about 4-5 minutes. Started the car (it started without a problem) and began driving in the parking lot. when it began hesitating and feeling as if it would stall again. there was a gas station next to the parking area. pulled in & filled tank (tank was 1/2 full) and just barely pulled into a parking spot in front of gas station convenience store. Got towed to our local garage. They changed the oil and checked external systems and thought it was working fine. When my husband picked the car up it was still hesitating and almost stalling on the way home. Next, took it to local Kia dealer. Same situation. Couldn't find anything, said it drove fine for them. Same thing happened to my husband on the way home. Stalling in traffic. Having to restart the car in an intersection. Very dangerous. Brought back to dealer and they said it would cost $600-1000 to diagnose. Then it might cost $5000 - $10,000 to fix (replace or rebuild the engine). I reached out to Kia Customer Service but they did not offer any solutions other than to talk to the dealership in question. We are at a stand-still and have not been able to drive the car since October 2021.

At first, it wouldn't shift out of park. Now the driverside headlight intermittently flickers and goes out. There's a burnt electrical smell coming from the engine compartment.

Purchased brand-new in 2015. Paint started chipping away in 2018. At first I thought it was normal wear and tear because it was tiny and only a few spots. It is rapidly bubbling and peeling off now. Most recently a foot of my side bar peeled off in one instance. I haves talked to a auto body repairman and he did not feel like this peeling started from rocks or debris.

Engine shut off without warning while driving. My wife was driving and Was able to roll off road thankfully. She was on a very busy road and was in serious risk of injury along with the cars behind her. Did not start back up. Battery had power. Found out ENGINE FAILED! Verified by mechanic. Called Kia Corporate Customer Service number and was told the engine will not be repaired. 125,000 miles. No warning lights came on. This is absolutely wrong of Kia! Shame on them!

I have the Sorrento with the white pearl paint for last couple years I’ve had small flakes come off and I’ve tried to cover them up with the ink pen. But the spots are just getting bigger. So Disappointed. This is my second Kia I did not have a problem on the black when I had before this

This 2015 KIA Sorrento was purchased new 8/14. It has been regularly serviced/maintained since.In Nov 2018 the AWD would not engage during a snowstorm, I was left stranded and had to be towed to the Dealership. The AWD coupler needed to be replaced. October 1, 2021, the car was inspected and passed with no major issues. November 6, 2021, the car would not start. It was jump started and brought to a local Auto Repair Facility where I was advised it needed a new battery. New battery installed and on November 8, 2021, the car would not start. I returned to the same facility & had them check the battery, alternator and starter. All was fine. They recommended I return to Healy KIA, Newburgh, NY, and have them check the computer board. December 1, 2021, Healy KIA informed me that the head gasket was shot and that I needed an engine rebuild. I questioned this as the car was only 5 years old, I only drive the car locally, and that I have done no extensive travel in over 2 years since Covid-19. Healy KIA never offered to replace the engine, only the rebuild for $11K. I contacted KIA Corporate on December 2, 2021 to file a concern (Case #14515621) and was advised by that Rep I was out of warrantee, admitted there had been engine recalls in the past, but a Manager would review my case and call me w/in 2-3 business days. To date, no return call. I began calling KIA(800)333-4542 for these past 3 days & the automated phone system either dropped the call or transferred me to Road Side Assistance. December 8, 2021, I finally got through to another KIA Rep, who confirmed my case number and stated my case was still under review awaiting verifying information from Healy Kia confirming the damage and the estimate. I advised the KIA Rep that I had a copy of that estimate so he instructed me to upload this information at www.KIA.com. Ironically, the case number KIA provided, my name/email is invalid according to the KIA website. I need your help and guidance. Please advise. Thank you!

I have a 2015 kia sorento my paint has started peeling off for no reason. It is snow pearl white .I've spoken to and have seen others just like mine doing the same thing. This is definitely kias responsibility. Not all of us would have the same issue if not!!!

The paint on my Kia (pearl white) blew off from a portion of my car on a windy day. The car has been seen by the Kia dealership and we were referred to Kia consumer affairs. There were no prior signs of paint peeling in the area where it blew off prior to it blowing off.

Normal low beams are useless for driving. You must use high beams to be able to see, even in town. This has been a problem since I purchased the vehicle in 2015. Also, I have had to replace the bulbs three times, If I don’t buy the brightest/most expensive ones, I’ve wasted my money and it’s like putting a night light in front of your vehicle.

I have a 2015 Pearl White Kia Sorento. My paint has chipped tremendously and I have only had the truck for a year and a half. It first started with a small chip on the side of my windshield which is now huge. I started noticing more chips shortly after and they are now huge as well. There has to be a defect in this paint because EVERY snow white kia that I have seen in my city looks JUST like mine.... PEELING!

Lowlight beams are very dim. Poor visibility. NHTSA ratings are poor. I’m concerned as to why Kia will not fix the issue. There was no accident but for years I’ve been afraid to drive at night or avoid it. I’ve looked online and see I’m not the only Kia Sorento owner with these concerns. This does make me regret purchasing Kia and I tell everyone I know don’t buy this car.

2015 Sorento has paint peeling and chipping due to air and weather. The peeling paint started December 2019. The condition has gotten worse. The chipping started this year.

I am making a complaint due to the paint chipping above the windshield. The paint started to chip and now in growing larger. Every time it rains the paint chips more and more. I have noticed not only that my car pillars on the siding around the windshield peeled that I have repainted but now it is above the wind shield. There are alot of Kia Sorentos in my area that the top of their vehicle are peeling as well so this has to be a manufacturer problem. I have spoken with a few shops in the area and they stated to inform Kia that is an ongoing issue with all the kia's. I have pictures of the top of my vehicle.

Intermittently and unpredictably, my V6 Sorrento just loses all power when trying to accelerate. This occurs when trying to accelerate from a stop or slow roll, but not when moving along at over, say, 20 mph. Obviously, this can be a very dangerous thing when trying to cross or pull out onto a street when there’s oncoming traffic. The car will move just enough to place it in the path of oncoming traffic and then nothing more until after I’ve released and depressed the accelerator enough times for it to finally decide go. The car has been to the dealer several times for this, and they’ve had no remedy. They said that they couldn’t do anything because they couldn’t duplicate the problem, which is no surprise because it’s totally unpredictable. I’ve had the car into the dealer for this enough times that they finally opened a case with Kia corporate, who also had no answers. My private mechanic found a service bulletin (online, and not from Kia) that said a hose in the fuel system was the issue. After I took the car back to the dealer yet again and told them about the bulletin, they supposedly checked the hose and said that it was okay, but they didn’t try replacing it. After all that I’d been through dealing with this, the dangerous situations it has put me in numerous times, and the fact that they had no answers, it seems to me that they should at least have tried replacing the hose. I’ve been dealing with this for years, and it's disconcerting and dangerous to not be able to trust the car. The car is a 2015 Sorrento SX V6 that I bought in July of 2017 with 31,094 miles on it, and I paid extra to have it “certified.” There is a thread on Kia-Forums.com where others have expressed having the same issue, also with no resolution. The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space and making a left turn, the contact heard an abnormal popping. The contact felt the vehicle was dragging something underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over and restart the vehicle however, the engine was shaking and the contact saw that there was oil leaking on to the ground. The contact put the vehicle in neutral and had her son push the vehicle to her residence. The dealer was contacted but the service department was unavailable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,050.

In July of 2019 I purchased a 2015 Kia Sorento from Haley Toyota of Richmond. About 7 days after purchasing my Sorento, it was cutting off on me while driving and not starting. It was during the hot summer and I would be in the car with my kids sweating stuck hours away from home until the car decided to start up again. It would cut off on us while we were driving!! One day it was almost a terrible accident. Someone almost slammed into the back of us I had to swerve into the ditch!! And ALL of my children were present and my mother. It would start back up like after 30 minutes sometimes hours!! The first time this happened, when we finally got it to the dealer they had it for a while. They said they replaced a computer system and that that should fix it. It didn’t. We kept taking it back they kept not fixing it. And now the car is just not working whatsoever. And I’m still paying for it. The engine shouldn’t be cutting off while the car is in motion. And I’ve looked and there are so many recalls on this car but why isn’t mine included in any engine recalls? The engine is no good. Toyota should not have sold me that car. The vehicle was inspected by Toyota AND Kia and they both acted as though they didn’t know the issue. Then the car just stopped working. We took out in so many times with no resolution. And not I’m stuck paying for a car that doesn’t even run. $333/month plus car insurance. And it was dangerous to drive. No warning Lights or warning signs popped on it would just cut off in the middle of no where. And then after that the engine light would come on, but never before cutting off I never had any warnings. I’ve been given no resolution, and I really need help.

This is a continuing problem. I have previously reported this issue to KIA and it has fallen in silent ears. For whatever reason my vehicle has been bone dry of oil. There is no warning that the oil is low. No indicator comes on., nothing! This can happen immediately after an oil change. The oil does not leak on the ground and it is known where the oil goes. The only way I know that there’s is no oil is that the car smells as though something is burning. I have spent hundreds of dollars in oil trying to keep up with when it dry’s out. Also, the rear brake light (right) burns out at least twice a month. At one point the light burned into the housing unit and had to be pulled out with needle nose pliers. I have again spent a lot of money on replacing bulbs. This car is extremely unsafe and I feel at anytime the car will catch on fire.

After engine replacement the car has a major loss of power that occurs intermittently. When accelerating the car will stutter and slow down I live In The mountains and there are a lot of blind corners that are safe to Navigate when the vehicle responds properly. I have almost been tboned by oncoming vehicles traveling at an excessive speed around those corners due to the loss of power the vehicle has suffered due to poor repairs and faulty engine

Head light low beams keep burning out on a frequent basis. have to replace couple times a year. have tried led lamps but no after market led lamps seem to fit correctly. have not found any suitable led lamps to use. Halogens continue to burn out. sometimes one light goes out and then will come back on. but always will eventually burn out before they should.

I have a pearl white Kia Sorento and the paint is peeling and flaking badly in several areas. It is progressively getting worse and it makes the vehicle look terrible.

CLEAR EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN RE-PAINTED AND THIS IS IN FACT A MANUFACTURER MALFUNCTION. HOWEVER, KIA STILL REFUSES TO ASSIST OR TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS DEFECT. MEANWHILE, MY CAR CONTINUES TO PEEL AT A RAPID PACE. OUR KIA SORRENTO HAS THE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL PASSAGE WHICH HAS CAUSED THE ENTIRE ENGINE TO FAIL AT $50K MILES. THIS IS UNPREDICTABLE SO WE TOOK THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE FOR TWO WEEKS AND AGAIN, IT FAILED AFTER THAT TWO WEEKS. WITH SO MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND KIA CLAIMING THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS, THIS HAS TO BE UNSAFE. ONLINE, SOME REFER TO THE ISSUE AS HAVING TO DO WITH THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM. MY 2015 KIA SORENTO HAS METAL FLAKES IN THE ENGINE, BURNS 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 2OOO MILES, IT HESITATES ON ACCELERATION, WHITE EXHAUST SMOKE, BURNS A LOT OF GAS, THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND UVO WARNINGS CONSTANTLY TURNS ON, IT CAN CATCH ON FIRE ANYTIME, THE ENGINE CAN LOCK ANYTIME. WE NEED MORE KIA RECALLS BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST.

I PURCHASED MY KIA IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I PULLED OVER TO INVESTIGATE BUT COULD NOT FIND WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM. I CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE SMELL AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THERE WAS NO PATTERN TO CAUSE THE SMELL TO HAPPEN. I BROUGHT THE KIA IN FOR SERVICE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. KIAS MECHANIC SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SMELL AND THEY COULDNT FIND THE PROBLEM.I INSISTED SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND ASKED THEM TO SEARCH FARTHER. I GOT ANOTHER CALL FROM THE MECHANIC SAYING THEY COULDNT DUPLICATE THE SMELL AND TO BASICALLY BRING THE CAR IN IF ITS ACTUALLY SMOKING OR ON FIRE. I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND AFTER THEIR INVESTIGATION I GOT A CALL SAYING BASED ON THE DEALERSHIPS REPORT THEY COULDNT DETERMINE A CAUSE FOR THE BURNING SMELL AND THE CASE WAS CLOSED.I HAVE 3 KIDS 2 IN CAR SEATS. MY SELF AND OTHERS CONTINUE TO SMELL THE BURNING. IAM TERRIFIED EVERYTIME IM IN THE KIA. I FEEL I WAS SOLD A DEATH TRAP AND KIA DOESNT CARE. I FEEL THEY WONT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE CAR IS LITERALLY ON FIRE AND THEN IT WILL BE TOO LATE.

THE EXTERIOR HANDLE CAP FELL OFF OF MY VEHICLE. IT KEEPS THE DOOR HANDLE IN PLACE. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT WHEN I SEARCHED, HUNDREDS OF OTHER KIA OWNERS HAD THE SAME ISSUE, SOME WERE BRAND NEW. THE PART IS $10 BUT KIA WANTED TO CHARGE 60 PLUS $100 FOR LABOR. THIS PART FELL OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHICH EVENTUALLY CAUSED THE DOOR HANDLE TO FALL OFF WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK AFTER A SOFTWARE UPDATE AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP IT BECAME SLUGGISH AND DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. I WAS JUST COMING OFF A LOCAL HIGHWAY ONTO A SURFACE STREET WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE ICON ON MY DASHBOARD IN MY CAR'S MANUAL. IT TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER - 6 WEEKS AGO! APPARENTLY THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THEY DID TO PROTECT MY CAR DAMAGED IT INSTEAD. I HAVE BEEN IN WEEKLY CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY ARE GETTING VERY LITTLE INFORMATION OR HELP FROM KIA, WHO APPARENTLY CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX MY CAR. I AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE DAMAGE BEING DONE TO MY CAR SITTING FOR THAT LONG WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN AND NOW I WONDER IF THIS WILL CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE. NOT HAPPY WITH KIA'S INABILITY TO FIX MY CAR. I BOUGHT IT USED SO IT DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE LEMON LAW AND I NEED TO KNOW IF I HAVE ANY LEGAL RECOURSE. I HAVE MADE 2 CAR PAYMENTS WITH A THIRD COMING UP SINCE IT HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR WHATEVER DECISION THEY END UP MAKING. THE DEALER HAS BEEN GREAT ABOUT IT AND PROVIDED ME WITH A RENTAL, BUT THIS IS ALL GETTING OLD REAL FAST!

2015 KIA SORRENTO SXL ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND VEHICLE VERBAL WARNING THAT MY TRUCK HAS A SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK TO RESEARCH AND REPAIR THE ENGINE ISSUE. I PAID OVER $300 FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE HAS METAL FLAKES AND IT'S NOTHING THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CAN DO TO REPAIR IT. I WAS TOLD TO LIVE WITH THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT BASICALLY. MY ENGINE HAS LOW TAKE OFF SPEED WHEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT RUNS ROUGH.

ADDITIONALLY WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER IT SMELLS LIKE VINEGAR OR DIRTY SOCKS AN AWEFUL SMELL, ONCE AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP STATED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. IT SOUNDS LIKE KIA IS COVERING UP OLD DEFICIENCIES WITH THEIR ENGINES AS IT SAID ENGINES MANUFACTURED INTO LATE 2014 WERE RECALLED HOW IS THE 2015 KIA, WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2014 NOT ON THE RECALL LIST? ADDITIONALLY THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MANY OTHER PEOPLE LISTING THE ENGINE SEIZING UP. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR WITH MY SMALL CHILDREN IM WRITING THIS RETRACTIVELY IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPEN. ADDITIONALLY WE GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES DONE. I THINK THIS ENGINE MODEL SHOULD BE RECALLED. AS A NEWER ENGINE SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT BE BLOWING WHITE SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST NOR TICKING LIKE THE COMPONENTS ARE DISPLACED.

THE OIL LIGHT ISN'T COMING ON TO TELL US WHEN THE OIL IS LOW EVEN IF IT'S NOT TIME FOR A PIL CHANGE. WE SEEM TO NOTICE THAT THE CAR IS BURNING OIL MORE FREQUENTLY THAN A NORMAL VEHICLE. RUNNING AC AT ABOUT 70 INSIDE, WITH ALL WINDOWS UP. PANORAMIC SUNROOF CLOSED, WITH INNER SOFT SUNSHADE ALSO CLOSED. ABOUT THREE HOURS INTO FIVE HOUR DRIVE. SUDDENLY, WITHOUT ANY VISUAL WARNING (E.G., ROCK, SHARD), WE HEAR AN *EXPLOSION* SOUND FROM ABOVE, ALONG WITH THE SOUND OF GLASS CLANGING EVERYWHERE AND THE RUSH OF HIGHWAY AIR. I QUICKLY SWITCH MY HAZARDS ON, DECELERATE, AND PULL OFF THE ROAD AS QUICKLY AS I CAN. I NOTICED THAT NO NEIGHBORING VEHICLES AS MUCH AS FLINCHED DURING THE INCIDENT, NOR DID ANYONE STOP ... AS IF NOTHING APPEARED TO HAVE HAPPENED EXTERNALLY FROM THEIR POINT OF VIEW. WHEN WE GOT OUT TO INVESTIGATE, WE SAW THAT THE FRONT MAJOR PANE OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED CENTER-OUT, PROBABLY ABOUT 2SQFT OF GLASS MISSING. NOTABLY, SEVERAL EDGES AROUND THE NEWLY-FORMED HOLE WERE UPTURNED. THOSE ARE ALL THE DETAILS I CAN REMEMBER. MY VERY STRONG BELIEF IS THAT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL DEBRIS INVOLVED. THE POSITION OF THE CARTOP CARRIER RELATIVE TO THE HOLE, MY VEHICLE'S POSITION RELATIVE TO OTHER CARS/TRUCKS (NOT TERRIBLY CLOSE), THE FACT THAT I SAW NO OBJECT HURTLING TOWARD THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE FACT THAT NO OBJECT WAS FOUND IN BETWEEN THE ROOF AND THE INNER SUNSHADE, THE FACT THAT NO OTHER CARS/TRUCKS BEHIND ME REACTED ... ALL THE SIGNS POINT TO SOMETHING SIMPLY BEING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.
