At night when I am driving, the headlight goes off. The light switch does not work on some settings. I never know when or where this dangerous situation is going to happen. Therefore, I try to avoid driving at night, as much as possible. This problem was addressed to Kia more than a year ago. They keep saying that they don't see a problem.
My headlights come on even when the car is completely off for now reason
When turning left, after the turn is complete and the multi function switch returns to home position, the right turn signal activates. This could lead to confusion by surrounding drivers resulting in safety concerns. At night, the headlights will randomly turn off while in auto mode while driving. Numerous times this happens and seems to be increasing in frequency. This is a serious safety concern as the visibility is limited to the driver and others on the road. Potential for a serious accident. After the vehicle is parked at the night, the exterior lights remain on all night if the headlight setting is in “auto”.
Headlights turn off at night when set in the auto position and turn on when the car is off
When I drive at night with the headlights on, sometimes the headlights will all go off until I click the button a couple of times then they will come back on, and this scares me because it can cause a wreck when I can’t see
When my head lights are on automatic, they will cut on and off on their own while driving at night! Completely off! My break lights also come and go. I have had the bulbs replaced and still have the same issue
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front and rear exterior lights shut off unexpectedly. The contact turned off the light switch and then back on and the failure was fixed. Additionally, the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption, and engine oil was added shortly after having an oil change performed. The vehicle also experienced harsh driving due to the oil consumption failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Shifter isn't releasing from park. They state the Body Control Module (BCM) I been reading on this and it goes out with higher mileage Kia Sorento SUV. This is a safety hazard.
When the headlights are on the "auto" setting they will sometimes turn off when driving. Speed or driving conditions do not seem to be a factor. There have also been 2 separate incidents where the headlights are on in the morning. This occurred when Noone had been in the car for hours and the keys were inside my home.
While in auto mode my headlights turn on and off randomly. This is very dangerous at night and has happened several times. When the head lights go off I can not see and no one can see me. There is no warning when this happens. The first occurrence was on August 4, 2024. Kia dealers say it has to be happening when I bring it in but the problem is intermittent. Many other owners have stated they have this same problem in online forums. Canada has issued a recall for this problem (Kia Canada: RC184).
When in auto-mode, the headlights randomly just turn off while driving which is a huge safety risk. This has been happening randomly every once in a while since at least 2021. It seems to be happening more often now. Also, the taillights are randomly turning on at night when the car is off.
While I was driving at night, my headlights would turn completely off. Sometimes it would happen when I turned my blinkers on, sometimes when switching from high to low beam, and sometimes totally randomly. Lights were set to AUTO at the time. It’s been extremely dangerous because most of the time I’ve been driving on dark county roads. Have not taken it to a shop yet was trying to self diagnose the problem first. Found information online that this has been a common occurance with Kia Sorentos. No warning lamps light up.
When in "auto" mode for headlights, the lights occasionally turn off while driving. I have to switch to "on" to get them to work again. Very dangerous obviously. Also, sometime the lights do not turn off, or turn on in the middle of the night when the vehicle is parked. Again, this is while in "auto" mode.
Over the past couple of months my headlight are shutting off while driving at night. They don’t come on when I start the car some nights. When they shut off it’s hard to get them to turn back on. I’m twisting the knob multiple times to get them back on while driving.
The stalk appears to be failing, specifically when lights set to auto. The most alarming aspect of this issue is when head (and maybe tail) lights go out entirely while driving [at night]. This has happened several times, at various speeds, drive times, vehicle occupancy, etc. Additionally, the head and tail lamps will turn on randomly when the car is off and locked. This can happen both hours or days after parking and has been the cause of replacing two batteries within two years.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the interior lights and headlights turned off and turned back on without driver's input. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 104,082.

I was driving down the highway at night and out of nowhere my head lights turn off. Leaving me and my daughter driving blind going 60 mph. Prior to that on the same night, I picked her up from work I was turning out of the parking lot where she works and the same thing happened but very quickly corrected itself. The area was lit up so it wasn't as noticeable. This is a very dangerous problem.
My 2017 Sorento has been having issues with the headlights for the past 6 months. I keep them on auto mode and half of the time they don't turn on until I click them to "on" and switch them back to auto. There have also been a handful of times where my headlights turn off while driving. This is absolutely unacceptable and extremely unsafe. This needs to become a recall before someone is seriously injured, or dies.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH at night, the headlights briefly became inoperable. After several attempts at turning the switch off and on, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000.
Mileage: 96,000
Driving 70mph, driving lights completely shut off. I was going straight with a car in the distance nobody behind. If my wife and kids were driving that would have been scary.
The headlight setting randomly changes from “Auto” to “Off” without any operator input. This happens roughly every fourth drive.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, an audible message indicated that there was engine failure, and the infotainment screen displayed the option to send an engine failure report. The vehicle then shuddered and made an abnormal sound. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the abnormal sound persisted. The vehicle was shaking, and the contact detected an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle. Additionally, the headlights failed to illuminate while driving at night. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with multiple cylinders misfire. The dealer determined that the spark plugs and headlights needed to be replaced, as well as an induction cleaning and oil change. The dealer replaced the spark plugs and headlights but discovered that the fuel pump was leaking fuel into the engine. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact declined to have the induction cleaning, the oil changed, or the fuel pump replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V907000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and Technical Service Bulletin: 073 (Ball Joint Replacement); however, the VIN was not included in the recall and the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Mileage: 68,000
The lights go off on their own while driving. The lights go on on their own while parked and off.
While driving after dark with the auto lights engaged, my headlights suddenly turned off. When I turned the knob on the light switch they came back on and I continued to drive. A short while down the road this happened again. At this point I turned the auto lights off and just ran them in manual on mode. No further incident with them in manual. This has now happened on several occasions.
1) The headlights will turn off while driving when the headlight switch is "automatic." 2) The headlights and taillights will illuminate after leaving and locking the vehicle leading to a completely drained battery.
The vehicle just lost power at 75mph on [XXX] heading home to Princeton, ME, started vibrating really bad misfiring then we pulled over the Kia Sorento stalled. Then would not start back up. It’s been using over a quart a week since we got it from the dealership in Bangor, Maine. We got it towed home our mechanic looked at it and noticed oil on the plugs and said we probably need a new engine. Low beam light keep coming off and on so thinking it’s something electrical. Time to time the transmission take a min to shift the engine rpms stay up n takes a few extra seconds to shift. My headlights, when set to ‘auto’ randomly turn off. Very scary and dangerous at night! Also, illegal. I can get them to come back on by turning the lights off and on multiple times from the left stalk. But can’t believe Kia hasn’t addressed this.
Headlights intermittently turn off when set to the "auto" setting while the vehicle is in use. I received a warranty notification from Kia for the issue and attempted to have it fixed through a Kia dealership. Kia dealership did not have the part to fix it and does not know when they will have the part. This issue first started happening in October 2023. Visit to the dealership was November 22, 2023. Issue is still not resolved.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at night, the headlights became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the cause of the failure could not be duplicated. The contact later received Kia Extended Warranty notification for a multi-function switch assembly failure. The local dealer and a second dealer, Kia Mall of Georgia (4180 Buford Dr, Buford, GA 30519) were contacted but informed the contact that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.
The headlights randomly turn on and off while driving and with the switch set to “Auto”. This also occurs when the vehicle is shutdown with no key in the ignition and with no one in the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Having the headlights turn off when driving at night presents a risk of the driver not being able to see the road and for other drivers to not see the vehicle. These risk may lead to an accident causing great harm to life and property, including death. The vehicle is currently with the dealer for diagnosis. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This problem began in the spring of 2023 with less than 60,000 miles on the vehicle.
Sporadically during night driving the headlights will go out. Headlights set to AUTO each time. Most recently while turning right. Had not used right turn signal.
While driving at night, headlights turn off.
Headlights switch set in Auto position. Headlights turned on spontaneously, two different times while auto was off and locked. This resulted in battery being drained and auto would not start. This has not happened since switch was set to Off position.
I have had my lights to go off at night while driving.
Headlights turned off on 3 occasions in the last 2 weeks. first i was driving on an unlit section of a residential thoroughfare, dark night and suddenly, while both hands on steering wheel, not having had any interaction with dashboard/radio controls, smooth section of roads (no obvious bumps) the lights turned off. I immediately fiddled with the steering column mounted light control switch, which did not give me an immediate relief, flipped it to highbeams and they worked. 2nd and 3rd time (yesterday 9/8/23) while on semi lit highway they again shocked me by turning off, i again toggled the light switch, this time highbeam flip did not work, i was doing 65 on a 70 and having lights turn off, with no reason, scary. 80,000 miles. i have had the light switch in automode.
1. During nighttime driving, the headlights suddenly go off. Headlights are on auto and it happens randomly. The first time it happened was in August 2023 and then on 09/08/2023 twice during night driving. 2. It's very risky to be in the dark on a rural road. I really worry for my family's safety. 3. I could not reproduce the issue, nor have I taken it to a technician or dealer yet. 4. Not inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. 5. There was no warning on the dash prior to that happening.
The vehicle headlights intermittently turn off while driving the vehicle.
On many occasions while driving at night (happens almost every night when we are driving), the headlights turn off on their own. This is when the headlights are set to "auto". This is a very dangerous situation - especially when driving on poorly lit roads. When it happens, I can get the lights to come back on by switching from "auto" to "off" and back to "auto". Drivers should not need to do this. Apparently a lot of people with my (or similar) year Kia Sorentos have experienced this issue based on online postings.
Regularly the head light’s randomly turn off as well as the tail lights and break lights. This is absolutely terrifying! It has been happening for over a year and know one can fix it. This is a huge problem across 2017 & 2018 Sorrentos. There are multiple forms for it as well as mechanic discussion groups trying to solve the problem. This NEEDS to be a recall and fixed immediately before some gets hurt or worse!
The vehicle turns the headlights on while the engine is off, parked, and no occupants in the car and no keys in the ignition. I have experienced this multiple times. There are many other reports of this on the Internet as well. The multi switch was in the Auto position. I started the car, then turned it off, removed the keys, locked the doors and the lights went off. I checked on it later and the headlights had come back on (with the tail lights) while parked in my driveway. I then searched on the Web for others having this issue and there are many with this same year and model. This could run down the battery repeatedly, and also it is unknown if it is an electrical/fire hazard because something is clearly still activated after the car has been turned off.

The shift release has been replaced for 2017 kia sorento but now it is traffic light switch causing one of my car problems. In gas I spend 40 dollars a day for less than 110 miles of driving even with an full synthetic oil change just done is problem two. The speedometer is off by 3 to 5 I have had bmv and officers do their test on vehicle along with the head and tail lights being replaced every 6 to 8 weeks what am I to so with a vehicle that I am still paying on.
When I am driving the lights will shut off even when they are on auto. I have to pull over and turn the knob back and forth till they come back on. Sometimes they turn off when I use my blinker. The lights will also stay turned on even when the car is turned off and doors are locked.
Headlights in auto mode will randomly go off while driving without any change in ambient light. Dangerous on unlit roads.
While driving at night on dark road 50 mph with lights on auto. Lights went out completely. Had to make hard stop and turn lights to on position.
Lights will just turn off while driving and and the blinkers will not work. The horn will not work either. It happens all the time it doesn’t matter if it’s day time or night time.
Headlights shout off at night while vehicle is in motion. I have reported this issue to the manufacturer/dealership and was advised that vehicle needed to be brought in when issue is happening. Dealership is closed at night when issue occurs. No warning messages when lights shut off and first occurred 8/2021.
When traveling when it is dark, the head lights will suddenly turn off. The indicator on the dash shows that the switch has been changed to parking lights. If you turn the switch on and off the lights will come back on. This has happened on approx 10 occasions. I documented the time and date of one of the incidents below.
Tonight (3/4/23) while driving in the dark my headlights turned off while driving 45 mph. This is the 2nd time this has happened. It happened last October as well. I turn on my brights, turn them off again and the headlights are working normally again. Both times that this happened, I was driving with the lights in auto mode.
Headlights and dash lights will suddenly and randomly turn off while driving when using auto setting. Have experienced this multiple times.
The lighting switch assembly has an issue that causes the headlights to turn off at random times. I have only seen it happen when the switch is on the auto setting, but that is the setting I most often use. When the lights go off, the instrument panel display shows that the switch has changed to the parking lights setting, but the physical switch has not been moved. The lights remain off for a few seconds and then switch back to the auto setting. I have also seen issues with the turn signals, such as when I make a left turn and complete the turn, the switch flips to the off position and then the right turn signal turns on by itself. This is a safety risk because the lights randomly turn off at night and it hinders my ability to see in the dark and for other vehicles to see me. It is also a safety risk because other drivers may react based on my turn signal being on, but I don’t intend to move in the direction it is indicating. I have seen this happen multiple times over the past year, but not consistently. The dealer I brought it to was not able to reproduce the issue and did not replace the switch. A dealer has inspected it, but no other parties have. There is no prior warning or messages before it happens.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated upon activating the high beam headlights, both the internal and external lights failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the lights had to be manually turned off before returning to normal operation. The contact also mentioned that his wife had driven into a ditch and scratched the passenger’s side of the vehicle due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where he was given an estimate for a diagnostic test and repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,600. The VIN was not available.
Mileage: 42,600
While headlights are set to "Auto" mode, they will automatically shut off wile driving on multiple occasions. Also, while on "Auto" mode, parked, and vehicle turned off, head lights will turn on. This is a safety issue as driving without headlights is illegal and can cause an accident. Also, if vehicle has headlights on while vehicle is parked and turned off, this can cause the battery to drain and vehicle will not turn on. Enabling it driveable. This is a failure within Kia's electrical system/wiring, and needs to be brought to their attention.
Intermittently, while driving, day or night, the headlights will turn on or off for about 30 seconds despite the called for sensor setting. For example, if it is dark outside, the sensors will trigger to turn on the headlight and running lights and vise a versa, when the sensors detect sufficient light, the running and headlights will turn off. I have only noticed this happens when the headlights are in the "auto" mode position as I don't keep them any other way. I have only noticed it a couple times when the headlights and/or running lights will turn on during the day (bright enough not to trigger the sensor). HOWEVER, it has happened A LOT at night where the lights will turn OFF WHILE DRIVING which causes panic because I'm driving a death machine blindly (nothing bright to mistakenly trigger sensor/no overhead lighting or approaching vehicles, i.e. pitch black). I have not been able to recreate it on demand and it has an unknown, unbiased pattern. I would say that it occurs weekly, up to 2 times per week. I feel that it has happened more often a few seconds after straightening from a turn using the turning signal (but I always use my turning signal). The direction of turn doesn't factor, it'll do it turning left or right. There has been a couple times where I almost have driven off the road and/or hit unseen objects because of having no lights. This has happened enough at night when the lights unwantedly turn off, that I have learned to quickly switch the lights from "auto" to "on" and the lights react/will work and stay on when switched back to "auto". Mechanic unable to recreate issue. No warning lights, messages, or notice of problematic signals (other than the standard "lights on" notification. The attached picture was taken at 4:06 pm on July 29, 2022. It was a hot, sunny day and I was doing 53 on the highway (straight/no curves). My running lights turned on long enough for me to pull out my phone and take a picture.
2017 Kia Sorrento burns excessive amounts of oil between oil changes, more than 4 quarts. Eyebrow and rear parking lights come on their own, even after the car has been off for several hours without touching Kia or keys.
While I was driving on the interstate my head lights and dashboard lights went out. My lights were in auto mode. The next morning my park lights were on with the light switch in auto mode.
When the headlights are on "auto", they shut off at night while I'm driving. This has happened when I have been traveling out of state on dark highways and it is very dangerous. It is available to be inspected. I have not taken it in to get checked. I have not been able to use the "auto" feature because I do not want to take that kind of risk.
The auto lights turn off randomly during night operation
On 3 different occasions, my headlights have gone out during driving at night. My switch is always set to auto. I have noticed at times during the day they will shut off as well. Shutting off during night driving is very dangerous as i'm not always in areas that are lighted. On a few occasions my eyebrows and tail lights have randomly come on when my car is off during the night. These issues are happening without warning.
While driving at night down an unlit roadway, the headlights turned off. I was the passenger and my wife the driver. She touched the light control arm and they came back on. She said this has happened about 5 times, all at night. It takes about 3-5 seconds to get the lights to come back on. We were on a back country road driving about 55 mph which means we drove anywhere from 240 feet to 400 feet down the highway in the dark. This is a safety concern. I have also discovered some of the vehicle's lights come on at random while parked in the garage. I have also discovered the battery dead on 3 occasions. I assume these issues are related.
Headlights were in auto mode and twice have shut off when it was completely dark at around 0600 on 9/22 and 9/26. Dashboard and all exterior lights went out. I had turn them to the on position for see. In both cases the vehicle was stopped at a stop sign and it happen just as was pulling out.
The headlights spontaneously shut off while driving at night. This has happened multiple times since we have owned the car. Mostly happens when lights are in AUTO mode. Also the headlights will turn on while parked and shut off.
While headlight switch is in Auto mode, it will frequently turn off the headlights at night while indicating that I changed the headlight mode even though I haven't touched it. This happens on dark rural roads with no other vehicles around so oncoming headlights isn't the issue. This happens multiple times a week and I am forced to quickly turn the headlights manually to the "always on" position before I crash into something. I am quick, but it is dangerous and scares my wife to death. Searching online forums shows this to be an extremely common problem. This happens all of the time so there is not one specific date to select. It has been happening multiple times a week for about a year now. Kia pretends they haven't heard of this issue before but any simple search online will show they are lying.
My 2017 Kia Sorento, While driving (at night) the head lights will shut off in auto mode. turn the switch off and back on lights come ON, SAFETY TO ME AND OTHERS WHEN YOUR HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT ON A DARK ROAD
While in Auto Lights mode, the headlights will randomly turn off while driving. Also, while in auto mode, while the car is parked the lights will randomly turn on- causing the battery to die within a few days of the car not being used. It appears to be the Auto lights mode that causes the problem. This is extremely dangerous to this car and other cars on the road, for obvious reasons. Issue has been noted to Kia dealer 2-3 times over the last 2 years. They are not able to replicate the issue. No errors in the computer.
Headlight Switch is faulty when in Auto. Lights shut off randomly while driving at night and when your car is parked and turned off all the lights will come on and drain your battery. I have had the lights shut off on me a dozen times roughly and had to replace a $300 battery because of the lights turning on and draining it. I have been stuck in bad situations with the battery dead and driving down dark roads at night when headlight failure occurs. I see hundreds of complaints from others online. I cannot understand how this safety hazard has not be addressed or corrected by KIA.
Headlights go off without warning while in auto driving at night . Has occurred 2 in the month of August 2022. Can be turned back on by twisting the control nob to on. Poses a dangerous situation on the dark county roads that we drive if not quick enough to manually turn back on.
The "auto" headlight function keeps malfunctioning. It will randomly shut off the headlights and not turn back on. Numerous forums have reported the issue. This is extremely dangerous when driving at night.
Multiple times when driving at night, all of the vehicle's exterior lights sudden turn off. We have been able to get the lights working again by turning the headlight switch on and off several times. Obviously, this is an extremely hazardous situation leaving us with no visibility in the dark and other vehicles cannot see us wither. We have not had this issue investigated by a dealership yet, but have found many accounts online of this occurring to others. There are no warning lights or any indications of a problem.
While driving with headlights in “Auto” switch mode, the lights turned off. This occurred during dark goes while driving in a dark area at around 55mph. Switching from “Auto” to “On” turned the headlights and tail lights back on. This seems to be a more common problem when I read about similar issues at https://sorentoforums.com/threads/lights-shutting-off-in-auto-mode.16/ Currently there is no recall for this safety issue.
My KIA has issues with the headlights -- they randomly go off as you drive down the street. I thought I was hitting something but last night I had both hands on the wheel -- and the lights went off going down a busy highway -- thankfully I was familiar with area and it was well lit. They were out 5-10 seconds and they came back on. This also happened to me travelling to Syracuse New York in the mountains which was very dark -- it was very scary and could have been very deadly. I was a bit shook up. I called KIA and they said they don't have enough complaints to do anything. Seriously -- someone could die.
When driving down the the interstate at night, my headlights just turn off while driving. They are on Auto. This has happened multiple times while driving. I have not took it to be looked at yet. There is no warning light or anything else that lets you know that there is a malfunction. The lights just go off. For them to come back on, I have to manually turn it off and back on again, and they will come back on.
When “auto” for headlights the lights won’t turn on at night time unless I manually switch it or the lifts will be on and then go off on their own during the night.
While in Auto mode, lights turn off and on during the day and night. Happens daily.
Passenger seat belt not on warning no longer works when car is running or not running. Passenger can forget to put on seatbelt and no reminder chime. Problem is continuous. No warning lamps. Has been inspected but not repaired. Headlights come on and go off intermittently. Headlights come on when vehicle is off and not running Draining the battery down. Hard to duplicate. Has not been duplicated or repaired as it's intermittent without warning.
Car lights come on when the car is not in use. Car sporadically does not start. New battery installed in February and car wont start in May.
Left low beam bulb went out. The right side was rendered inoperable. Had no operational low beam, just parking and high beam lights. Safety issue, generated a dangerous and lot of irate drivers in on coming vehicle’s, with inability to lower the high beams. Once the left low beam bulb was replaced right side became operable full low beam was operating. Don’t know if this a fluke with this vehicle or engineering problem. Created a high stress situation!
when driveing at night the head lights are very very dim and the kia dealership can not adjust the head lights any more it is very very bad driveing at night what can you do to fix this problem.
Headlamp Multifunction Switch set to "AUTO", while using the Turn Signal (either direction) the Headlights will suddenly TURN OFF... while driving at night this is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND DISORIENTING... ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. To correct this, I had to jiggle the switch or turn it to Manual ON.
While driving at night (appro 9:00 PM) the headlights went out for several seconds the came back on. When I got home I googled the year and make to find a few entries with people reporting the same occurrences. KIA dealership found multifunction switch to be defective
When the light selection is set to AUTO the headlights will periodically shut off while driving at night. At other times, the light will turn on when the car is parked and no key or occupants are in the car.
daytime driving lights turn on after vehicle completely off, hours later and can drain the battery if not caught in time. also while driving at night, lights go completely off by themselves and have to manually try to turn on, very dangerous and someone is going to die if not recalled.
While driving with the headlights in the "Auto" position, when a turn blinker is used the headlights will randomly turn off for about 10-15 seconds. Not much of an issue during the daytime but certainly a major safety concern at night. This problem can be replicated during the daytime by watch the dash lights switch from "Auto" to "Off" on the driver's dash. Moving the switch from the Auto to On has no effect on the lights. This problem occurs about 30% of the time when using the turn signal.
I have complained since 2020 about the noise in the rear area, this started when the right rear light was rewired. I can't pinpoint what triggers the noise to start, sometimes it happens when the SUV is off ,and idling and driving but not consistently. I left with an unresolved issue. I went to the dealership today( 05/14/2021) @ 11:00 @ Greenway Kia West 3407 West Colonial Drive Orlando Florida 32808, to complain that my oil is running completely out of the engine and I was told all the fees I will have to pay in order to check this problem, I didn't say I had a leak or noise but disappearing. This is a manufacturers issues , and the warranty should cover. I told them my windshield is bubbling at the top and maybe separating , and still again all I heard was fees , I purchased a Kia Sorrento based on the good warranty and the place I felt very safe. I am very very disappointed in the dealership and my safety is at risk and I hope nothing happens before something happens.
WHEN THE CAR'S HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS SET TO 'AUTO', THE HEAD AND TAILLIGHTS WILL TURN ON AND OFF AT RANDOM, REGARDLESS OF LIGHTING CONDITIONS. THE LIGHTS RANDOMLY TURN ON WHILE THE CAR IS OFF AND STATIONARY AND HAS RESULTED IN A DRAINED BATTERY ON THREE OCCASIONS. . THE LIGHTS TURN ON AND THEN BACK OFF WHILE IN MOTION DURING DAYTIME DRIVING (AS INDICATED BY THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR). WHEN ON AND WHILE IN MOTION AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS TURN OFF, RESULTING IN ZERO VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING.
Mileage: 35,000
HEADLIGHTS AND DASH BOARD SHUT OFF RANDOMLY IN AUTO MODE DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING WHICH CAUSES IMMEDIATE CONCERN, FEAR OF ACCIDENT, AND UNWANTED REACTIONS SUCH AS LOOKING AWAY FROM ROAD TO FIND LIGHT STALK AND FIDDLE WITH IT TO GET LIGHTS TO TURN BACK ON. IMAGINE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT AT 50 TO 70 MPH IN VARIOUS TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WHEN YOU ARE SURPRISED BY THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT THE TO DO WHEN IT HAPPENS! I HAVE OVER 49000 MILES ON THIS CAR BUT THE PROBLEM WHICH I HAVE DOCUMENTED TWENTY FIVE INSTANCES HAS BEEN IN TO SEVERAL KIA DEALERSHIPS WITH EACH TIME BEING TOLD IT IS NOT A COMMON OCCURANCE AND THAT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A COMMON RESPONSE AND DODGE OF THE ISSUE. NATURALLY THEY CANNOT RECREATE PROBLEM AS THIS OCCURS DURING THE NIGHT WHEN DEALERSHIP IS CLOSED TECHS ARE AT HOME. GIVEN THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM REPORTED IT SEEMS NHTSA IS NOT DOING ENOUGH TO PRESSURE KIA TO FIND A CAUSE AND RECALL 2017 SORENTOS FOR A FIX THAT IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET SERIOUS DAMAGE OR DEATH IS BOUND TO OCCUR. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION AND START SOME ACTION BEFORE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES OCCUR!!!

WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, AND ALSO WHEN STARTING CAR AT NIGHT. I LEAVE MY LIGHTS ON AUTO. LATELY MY LIGHTS HAVE BEEN TURNING OFF, WHILE DRIVING ON BACK ROADS AND ON INTERSTATE. I HAVE TO TRN LIGHT SWITCH TO OFF THEN TURN TO ON.

HEADLIGHTS INITIALLY WERE JUST FLICKERING ON OCCASION NOW HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES THEY GO BACK ON AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. WARNING ⚠️ COMES ON AND DASH DISPLAY ALSO INDICATES A HEADLAMP ISSUE. SOMETIMES TURNING THEM ON AND OFF HELPS.BEEN GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE. NOW ALL LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN ON INCLUDING BRIGHTS. HORN ALSO NOT WORKING. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT NIGHT ON BUSY CITY STREETS.
HEADLIGHT KEEP BLOWING

MY 2017 KIA SORENTO HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF FOR NO REASON WHEN I AM DRIVING. WHEN THEY ARE IN AUTO MODE THEY WILL TURN OFF FOLLOWED BY A WARNING ON MY SCREEN SAYING THEY HAVE SWITCHED FROM AUTO TO MANUAL. I HAVE TO TURN THE KNOB TO OFF THEN BACK ON. THEY ALSO SHUT OFF IN MANUAL MODE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING,ESPECIALLY WITH MY TODDLER IN THE BACK SEAT. I AM TOLD A TSB HAS BEEN STARTED AND POSSIBLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. WHEN WILL KIA DO A RECALL? ONE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE BECAUSE IT HASNT HAPPENED TO THEM, ANOTHER DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BUT ARE WILLING TO TAKE A LOOK TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX THIS BUT I WILL HAVE TO PAY. THIS IS NOT RIGHT SINCE THIS IS A KIA DEFECT WITH MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS.
SINCE AUGUST 2019, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHTS FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AND THE HEADLIGHTS WAS SET ON AUTO. THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD SHUT OFF FOR 5-10 SECONDS UNEXPECTEDLY AND WILL TURN ON AGAIN. WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN THIS PAST SATURDAY (11/7) , I NOTICED WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF, ONLY THE HEADLIGHTS SYMBOL WAS LIGHTED ON THE DASH. NORMALLY, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WERE SWITCHED ON AUTO BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR TAILLIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS SYMBOL WOULD BE LIGHTED ON THE DASH. I HAVE SPOKEN TO FAIRFAX KIA SERVICE TECHNICIAN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT SINCE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED, HE WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IN REVIEWING YOUR SITE, IT APPEARS OTHER OWNERS OF 2017 KIA SORENTO HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE HEADLIGHTS SHUTTING OFF WHILE USING THE AUTO HEADLIGHTS FEATURE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, THEREFORE, I AM HOPING YOUR AGENCY WILL INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION ON THE MATTER TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTO LIGHT SWITCH FAILED TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUTOFF. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON ONE OF THE OCCASIONS IT RAINED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE GATEWAY KIA OF NORTH BRUNSWICK NJ DEALER LOCATED AT 720 CAROLIER LN, NORTH BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP, NJ 08902, AND WAS INFORMED TO TURN THE AUTO SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.

WHILE IN THE AUTO POSITION AT RANDOM TIMES ALL MY EXTERIOR LIGHT WILL TURN OFF. I DRIVE A LOT FOR MY JOB. THE LAST TIME MY LIGHTS TURNED OUT WAS LAST NIGHT ON THE FREEWAY IN A RURAL AREA COMPLETE BLACK OUT. I QUICKLY TURNED THE SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION AND THEN BACK TO AUTO. THIS HAS HAPPENED FEW TIME WITH IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS. A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, I NOTICED THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD SWITCH TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AFTER I COMPLETED MY TURN. THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WOULD BE IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THIS ALSO HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, WHILE DRIVING CITY OR HIGHWAY. I CAN NOT TURN IT OFF. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT STOPS ON ITS OWN, WHICH LUCKILY HAS JUST BEEN THE SAME LENGTH OF TIME AS A LANE CHANGE.

AT RANDOM TIMES, ALL AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY, MY EXTERIOR LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF ON THEIR OWN. I ALWAYS KEEP MY LIGHTS SET TO AUTO. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED A FEW ACCIDENTS WHEN I FIND MYSELF IN THE PITCH BLACK, WHEN I WASN'T AROUND ANY STREET LAMPS. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS WILL COME BACK ON WHEN I SWITCH THE LIGHTS TO OFF AND THEN BACK TO AUTO. BUT NOT ALWAYS.
Mileage: 86,000
I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF I TURNED SWITCH TO OFF THEN BACK TO AUTO AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE LIGHTS WERE ON AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, PARKED AND LOCKED PRESSING THE REMOTE LOCK BUTTON SHUT OFF THE LIGHTS. ON ONE OCCASION THE PARKING LIGHTS TURNED ON AT 2AM (NEIGHBOR'S CAMERA PICKED IT UP) PRESSING REMOTE LOCK BUTTON SHUT OFF THE LIGHTS ANOTHER OCCASION I TRIED STARTING THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, I SUSPECT THAT THE LIGHTS TURNED ON AT NIGHT AND DIDN'T SHUT OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEADLAMPS FAILED TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WITH THE HEADLAMP SWITCH IN THE AUTO POSITION. THE TURN SIGNALS WERE ALSO INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HEADLIGHT SUGGESTED MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMPS OPERATED AS DESIGNED WITH THE HEADLAMP SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREENWAY KIA WEST LOCATED AT (8701 E COLONIAL DR, ORLANDO, FL 32817) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.

VEHICLE HEADLIGHT POLYCARBONATE PLASTIC BLISTERING, PEELING, CRACKING AND OTHER SEVERELY DETERIORATION ASPECTS ARE HAPPENING IN A FAST, EXPONENTIAL MANNER. BOTH HEADLIGHTS HAVE CONTINUED TO PROGRESS DETERIORATING SINCE APRIL, BEFORE THE 3 YEAR PURCHASE PERIOD OF THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE OWNED 4 BRAND NEW KIA VEHICLES, AND NONE BEFORE THIS ONE HAVE EVER DISPLAYED THIS HEADLIGHT HOUSING DETERIORATION BEFORE. WE RESEARCHED THIS TYPE OF DETERIORATION TO SEE IF IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE ACROSS KIA AND OTHER VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS, AND WE DID NOT FIND ANYTHING DISPLAYING ANYTHING THAT OUR HEADLIGHTS ARE PRODUCING OUTSIDE OF WHAT ONE WOULD CONSIDER NORMAL WEAR (EVENTUAL DISCOLORATION). WE ARE CONCERNED FOR OUR NIGHTTIME DRIVING SAFETY REGARDING TO THIS APPARENT MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE QUALITY OF THE HEADLIGHT PLASTIC. WE ARE CONCERNED WITH THE NIGHTTIME VISIBILITY EVENTUALLY BEING COMPROMISED. *TR
2017 KIA SORENTO, AWD, MILEAGE ~30K. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SET TO "AUTO", THEY WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF, USUALLY WHEN I ACTIVATE A TURN SIGNAL. IT HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS, ON ALL TYPES OF ROAD, MOST OFTEN WHEN I'M TURNING. I'VE HAD SEVERAL 'CLOSE CALLS' AT NIGHT. OBVIOUSLY, IF THE LIGHTS TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, NOT ONLY CAN I NOT SEE MY PATH FORWARD, BUT OTHERS CAN'T SEE ME EITHER. THIS IS SERIOUS ISSUE, WELL KNOWN TO KIA AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, MOST RECENTLY ON THE DATE SHOWN BELOW. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE AUTO HEADLIGHT FUNCTION ACTIVATED, THE HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. AIR PORT KIA (3325 WESTVIEW DR, NAPLES, FL 34104, (239)732-8910) WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

2 PROBLEMS: 1. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE AUTO POSITION. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S A LIGHTED STREET OR DARK ROAD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES. 2. NOW THE THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS RANDOMLY TURN ON MINUTES TO HOURS AFTER THE CAR IS OFF WHEN LIGHTS ARE IN THE AUTO POSITION. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 4 DAYS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALER BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING. THE DATE IS THE MOST RECENT THAT THE LIGHTS TURNED ON.
HEADLIGHTS ARE IN AUTOMATIC AND WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT/EVENING THEY WILL RANDOMLY CUT OUT. 5-10 SECONDS AT A TIME. ALWAYS WHILE MOVING. THIS HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME. AFTER SOME RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM KIA ISSUED A RECALL FOR ON OTHER VEHICLES 2015-2016 K900 VEHICLES. THERE ARE PLENTY OF ONLINE FORUMS STATING THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER SORENTOS IN VARIOUS YEARS.

WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF AND ON USUALLY LAST 10 TO 15 SECONDS, DOES THIS AT ALL SPEEDS AND AND ALL ROADS. WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOOSE SIGHT OF ROAD ON NON LIT ROADS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS
Mileage: 65,000
HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TWICE THIS WEEK. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I GOT THEM BACK ON BY SWITCHING THEM OFF THEN BACK ON. THE SECOND TIME THEY WENT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND CAME BACK ON WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING.

HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY AT NIGHT. THIS OCCURS IN THE AUTO HEADLIGHT MODE. THIS WHILE TRAVELING. NO EXTERNAL LIGHT SOURCES OF CONSEQUENCE TO TRIGGER SHUT OFF. SOMETIMES 30 SEC OTHERS A MINUTE OR MORE. SCARY ON WINDING COUNTRY ROADS.
Mileage: 46,000
WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE IN THE AUTO SETTING, THEY WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. I MOST OFTEN NOTICE THIS AT NIGHT, BUT I CAN SEE IT HAPPENS AT TIMES DURING THE DAY IF THE LIGHTS ARE ON BECAUSE I NOTICE THE DASHBOARD INDICATORS CHANGE. THIS SOMETIMES OCCURS AFTER USING THE TURN SIGNAL, BUT THAT'S NOT ALWAYS THE PRECURSOR. IT HAPPENS WHEN GOING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, GOING 45 MPH ON EXIT RAMPS, ON 25 MPH ON LOCAL STREETS. I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THEY SAID I HAD TO TAKE TO A DEALER. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER IN OCTOBER 2018. THE TECHNICIAN DROVE IT 50 MILES ROUND TRIP TO AND FROM HIS HOME, BUT COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY AND I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER IN SEPTEMBER 2019. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BAD ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT AND ORDERED THE PART. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON OCTOBER 12, 2019, TO HAVE THE PART INSTALLED. WHILE DRIVING LATER THAT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS GOING 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 270. I TRIED TO QUICKLY JIGGLE THE LEVER, AND THEN THE LIGHTS TURNED BACK ON. MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE. IT'S OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS, AND KIA SHOULD FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL.

DISCREPANCIES: 1. [HIGH DANGER TO SAFETY THAT COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR LOSS OF LIFE] HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF RANDOMLY WHILE VEHICLE IS DRIVING OR STATIONARY AND CAN NOT BE RECOVERED VIA MANUALLY SWITCHING THROUGH "AUTO: ON: OFF"; LIGHTS MAY RECOVER RANDOMLY WHILE LEFT IN "AUTO" POSITION; HIGH BEAMS STILL WORK WHILE THIS HAPPENS (THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS) 2. EXTERIOR LIGHTING HAS TURNED ON RANDOMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ON 2 OCCASIONS, KILLING THE BATTERY BY MORNING.
Mileage: 63,000
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE'S HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS AND ON SURFACE STREETS. IN ALL CASES THE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH WAS ON "AUTO." AT LEAST TWICE, THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AFTER USING THE TURN SIGNAL TO INDICATE A LANE CHANGE. AT LEAST ONCE, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY CAME UP AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, AS IF THE DRIVER WAS MANUALLY CHANGING THE LIGHTS FROM AUTO TO ON OR OFF, BUT THE DRIVER WAS NOT TOUCHING THE CONTROLS. IN ALL CASES THE HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS. LIGHT INDICATORS HAVE COME ON DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS AS WELL, MAKING IT APPEAR THE ISSUE HAPPENS DURING DAY AND NIGHT. WHEN RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS DRIVEN, THEN PARKED FOR AN HOUR OR MORE, WE HAVE ALSO FOUND THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS ALL ON. THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF WITHOUT MANUALLY TURNING THEM OFF AND THEN BACK TO AUTO. THE LIGHTS HAVE ALSO ALL COME ON IN THAT SAME MANNER, WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND SOMEONE LEANED UP AGAINST IT.
Mileage: 23,000
MY HIGH BEAMS DON'T WANT TO TURN ON AND WHEN THEY DO THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM OFF IS TO TURN MY LIGHTS ALL THE WAY OFF AND BACK ON. IF YOU PULL THE BAR TOWARDS YOU TO BRIEFLY LOOK AT SOMETHING, THE HIGH BEAMS WILL NOT COME ON. ALSO MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP, IT KEEPS KICKING BACK WHEN I GO TO STOP. THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY HIGH BEAMS OR MY BRAKES, THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS FINE.
Mileage: 93,000
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS SET TO AUTO, THEY WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF ON THEIR OWN. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A HEAD ON COLLISION BECAUSE OF THIS. TURNING THE LIGHT CONTROL MANUALLY TO EITHER OFF OR MANUAL ON AND THEN BACK TO AUTO GETS THEM BACK ON. HOW CAN SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE NOT BE ADDRESSED? I SEE POSTS ABOUT THIS ALL OVER THE INTERENT - ESPECIALLY FOR THE 2017 MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $500 TO REPLACE THE WIRING! THE VEHICLE HAS UNDER 35K MILES. PLEASE APPROACH KIA AND HAVE THEM ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN RURAL AREAS WITHOUT LIT ROADS CAN BE SERIOUS INJURED - ESPECIALLY IF ITS THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURS AND THEY ARE NOT PREPARED TO FIDDLE WITH THE LIGHT CONTROL TO GET IT OPERATING AGAIN. DATE PROVIDED IN THE FORM REPRESENTS THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE OF THE ISSUE - NOT THE ONLY.

HEAD LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD
Mileage: 46,000
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS IN THE AUTO MODE, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL PERIODICALLY GO OFF FOR 4 TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE COMING BACK ON AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TIMES OVER THE PAST 10 MONTHS. WE WERE TOLD BY KIA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND RECOMMENDED DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED ON IN THE MANUAL POSITION. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, ON CITY STREETS, ON STRAIGHT ROADS AND ON CORNERS.

HEAD LIGHTS GO OFF WHEN DRIVING,THEN COME BACK ON WHEN SET IN THE AUTO MODE

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE CUT OFF ON THEIR OWN 5 TIMES. I HAVE TO TURN THE AUTO OF AND PUT IT ON MANUAL FOR THEM TO WORK.
Mileage: 30,000
WHILE DRIVING MY HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY JUST SHUT-OFF SOMETIMES THEY WILL COME RIGHT BACK ON AND OTHER TIMES IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES FOR THEM TO COME BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK.
I ALWAYS USE AUTO HEADLIGHTS MODE TO OPERATE MY CAR. THE HEADLIGHTS COULD GO DARK FROM 2 TO 6 SECONDS AND THEN THEY WILL GO BACK ON AUTOMATICALLY. IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 7-10 TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM EXIST DURING DAYTIME BECAUSE IT IS BRIGHT OUT THERE. BUT WHEN IT IS DARK AND THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY GO OFF IT BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THE ONLY THING THEY TOLD ME IS TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER. I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IT WILL BE SO HARD FOR THE DEALER TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND FIND OUT POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS, SO MY TIME WILL BE TOTALLY WASTED AT THE DEALER.
Mileage: 23,000
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUS! THERE IS A DARK SHADOW LINE DIRECTLY IN THE SIGHT LINE OF THE DRIVER THROUGH THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD THAT I FIND MYSELF DUCKING DOWN TO TRY AND SEE OUT THE WINDOW BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT IT IS VERY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. IT HAS SEVERELY IMPACTED MY CHILDREN'S LIFESTYLE AS WE CANNOT GO OUT AS THE DARK ROADS IN NEW JERSEY ARE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2017 KIA SORENTO ABOUT 30MPH EARLY TODAY GOING ABOUT 30MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE REAR END AND THE ENGINE, ALL LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I THEN RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FINE. THE DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM GOING 70 MPH AND THE CAR SHUTS DOWN LIKE THIS. SINCE THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE EVENT THERE IS NO SOLUTION.
Mileage: 33,000
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH HEADLIGHTS IN AUTO POSITION, LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF FOR SECONDS BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN SEE THE CHANGE ON THE DASHBOARD ALMOST LIKE IT WAS MANUALLY BEING TURNED OFF, BUT IT WAS NOT BEING TOUCHED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. SO FAR THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS ISSUE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW FOR THE SECOND TIME.
THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF DURING NIGHT-TIME DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR SHOWS THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE IN THE "AUTOMATIC" POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A COMPLETELY DARK ROAD, AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A LIT HIGHWAY, IN PARKING LOTS, AND IN THE VILLAGE AT 30 MPH. WE ARE USING MANUAL HEADLIGHT MODE AT NIGHT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN.
Mileage: 28,000
WHILE ON AUTO, HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE. TWO TIMES DURING DUSK/TWILIGHT, AND ONCE DURING THE NIGHT WITHIN A THREE WEEK PERIOD. THE TIME IT HAPPENED AT NIGHT, AND THE ONE TIME DURING TWILIGHT WAS ON AN UNLIT RURAL ROAD . THE OCCURRENCE DURING DUSK WAS AT A LIGHTED RURAL INTERSECTION.
Mileage: 22,000
THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT WITH THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL IN THE AUTO MODE. THE HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 SECONDS DURING THIS ISSUE AND AUTOMATICALLY CAME BACK ON. BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH NO OTHER LIGHT SOURCE IN THE AREA. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE LOCAL KIA DEALER. THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND NO TROUBLE CODES WERE FOUND. WE HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO ONLY OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS IN THE MANUAL MODE.
Mileage: 34,000
