Brakes failed my husband (primary driver of the KIA vehicle) came home from work on 8/19/2024. He pulled off at the local mechanic. Brakes were rusty and there was rust in the brake line so we had to replace. Rusty brakeline became a voluntary recall because it was not just our car that had this problem. We have been going back and forth with Kia since June notice (their case #XXX) and they are blaming the criteria of their voluntary recall with the NHTSA that says that you can only get reimbursed if you can return the parts and document that they were the original manufacturer's parts that were replaced. 10/01/2025 I took my vehicle to Crain Kia of Conway for four different safety recalls. Safety Recall 15V123 (SC116) , 22V096(SC229) ,17V608(SC155A) ,and 19V120(SC176). Mr.Jerime York handled my paperwork. I told him my car has. diagnotic code of 420(Catalytic Converter is not operating efficiently on Bank 1) He told me they would take care of me. 10/14/2025 when i got there to pickup my vehicle I ask Mr.York, what they did about safety recall SC176. He said upgraded the module. I brought to his attention that the remedy stated that in addition, they were suppose to check catilatic converter and motor for damage due to module not controlling tempature. He stated he trusted that his mechanic followed repair procedure. i requested a printout of the diagnotic codes my vehicle had when I brought in which they gave me. Ive attached a copy of the diagnosic codes on my vehicle. notice the 420 code also attached is KIA Technical Service diagnostic procedure and repair instructions for safety recall SC176. which they did not do . I question if they did any of the recall repairs. The document prove they did not do the most important one sc176. please help with this situation.
On [XXX], my 2014 Kia Soul received the PI2002A Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) ECU update at Southwest Kia, 39650 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway South, Dallas, TX 75237. After the update, the engine sustained catastrophic damage (a hole in the block). Southwest Kia informed me that Kia denied the engine replacement under warranty, which is inconsistent with the official PI2002A bulletins (NHTSA #MC-10172065 and MC-10189615). These bulletins clearly state that the short block warranty is extended and that engine replacement is covered for this type of failure. I am requesting an immediate review of my case, a written explanation for the denial, and a timeline for resolution, as my vehicle is currently inoperable. I WAS DRIVING FOR LESS THAN TEN MINUTES ON AN EXPRESSWAY WHEN MY KIA SOUL SHUT DOWN. I HAD JUST CHANGED LANES. FORTUNATELY, I HAD MOVED TO THE FAR LEFT WHICH WAS ADJACENT TO THE EMERGENCY LANE PRIOR TO THE SHUT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THAT AREA AND BRAKE. THE CAR HAD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN OUT OF THE BLUE. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THANK GOD THE BRAKES AND STEERING WERE STILL WORKING. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TO START THE CAR. IT TURNED ON QUICKLY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST EXIT. THE CAR SEEMED TO WORK FINE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A KIA DEALER. I WAS INFORMED THAT CERTAIN 2014 KIA'S MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SHUTTING OFF. Ive tried to get my recalls fixed since I bought the car 2 years ago, Jeff Wyler Kia Eastgate Ohio has given me the run around, at least 5 attempts of no call backs or prolonged appointment dates not having me on record, my car breaks down I pay for diagnostic blown engine, I pay to have it towed to Jeff Wyler Kia Eastgate Ohio, it's been there for 5 weeks and they still have not done a diagnostic on it. They are saying they never received my driver's license, then it was proof of ownership, they won't call me back or email. I'm just so frustrated because Kia the main company actually has sent me many letters to get it fixed I call them and they told me their wasn't even a diagnostic done, they tried reaching out to them. Should I tow my car to a different dealer? I'm not sure what to do anymore, I'm almost afraid now they'll say they can't cover it for same reason, my trust is gone at this point with the dealership. I recently had a full knee replacement and getting in and out of my daughter's car has been very hard on me, I asked for a loaner and they said they don't provide them there and I have to pay. I've already put in so much money on this car at this point I feel cheated or targeted for some reason. They treat me like I'm trying to get something for free, they aren't paying out of their pocket. Purchased car on [XXX] less then a week later I tried o purchase Sirius radio for car, however due to being a previous customer I didn’t get a fair enough price for purchase an decided against purchase all together. However due to linking my VIN number ( assuming) kia customer recall center contacted me the very next day called 3xs left me to vmail (still have all voice mails) as KIA Then continually called me and left me voice mails stating vehicle needed to be put in shop due to not safe to drive and I needed to get appointment immediately for recalls on said vin! I called KiA of Wilmington and waited In their waiting room for said appointment for over 4hours. Not only did they lie and tell me I wasn’t in office for that long they forged my time in and out, on said one page non informed piece of paper non receipt stating I was only there for hour an half. When I literally got upset asking demanding for information on what was so dire about my car they told me oh it was nothing my car was just fine. I took there nonsense paper got in car and left. 4 days later my car literally went bonkers the check engine started flashing car wouldnt accelerate then as it started it made a loud pop/ snap sound then seized up locking up so hard it gave me whip lash and wouldnt move another inch let alone provide sound as if car wasn’t still running. I pushed to my home less then 500feet away with help of neighbors whom plugged in my car to read the code which happened to be in direct connection to said recall supposedly checked replaced IN NO WAY FIXED yet said so even though the car had no problems till kia messed with it now it’s completely broken and kia keeps hanging up on me and will not fix or even look at my vehicle I EVEN pleaded I would pay them to fix it they won’t even contact me back. The reason provided was that my engine needs to be replaced first. However, this recall calls for engine replacement if Kia is unable to perform the repair. The issues I am having with my engine are symptoms of a faulty knock sensor, which is the recall Kia will not repair.
UNKNOWN. Kia Dealership in Edmond Oklahoma is refusing to do the recalls on my 2014 KIA Soul because the engine has a knock in it which I believe to be from one of the recalls with the engine. KIA manufacturer said that they couldn't do anything about the dealership not fixing the recalls and to take it to another dealership.

At a speed of 50+ the car wants to shake and sputter as if trying to die out. Oil, all fluids faithfully changed since purchased, along with rotatable tires.fuel pump good, many trips to local dealership but nothing completely resolved as informed. Aside air bag never checked or replaced. Desperately need assistance in resolution please.
Oil consumption and catalytic converter clogging. My car burns through 5 liters of oil about every 1,000 miles. I've already had the catalytic converter replaced and my mechanic said it's from excessive oil leaking, and the only alternative to fix it is to replace the engine.
on 11/11/2023: Engine failed/malfunctioned. Engine stalled while driving on the interstate. Traveling 75mph. I felt some sort of slight jolt, looked down at the dash and seen my check engine light blinking. There was not an exit nearby so I proceeded to pull over. As I pull over all lights had become illuminated but check engine light was not blinking anymore and I had first seen my headlights dim twice, next the radio went out, then headlights then my hazard lights and eventually everything turned off. This happened approximately around 10:00 pm and I had made it approximately 20 miles out of town. I felt it was too dangerous to step out of the vehicle. I called for a tow truck to bring my vehicle to the nearest kia and found a ride home myself. My safety was put at risk by being stalled on the side of the interstate with no power to even have the hazards on with high-speed vehicles passing by me. Kia of Fargo, ND inspected my vehicle and found no reason as to why my vehicle had stalled.What they did find was a historic code for my catalytic converter needing to be replaced, which I had brought up to them and they advised me to make an appointment. For approximately the past 2 years I have been bringing my vehicle in to the Kia of Fargo concerning the amount of oil my vehicle is going through between oil changes. Sometimes it seems like the amount of oil "burned" varies but sometimes I can’t even make it until my next oil change without having to add oil into the vehicle. I have had multiple oil consumption tests completed. Which some of them did come up excessive. From there, they recommended to have an overnight cleaning but I did not notice that this did any improvement. The last oil consumption test completed I was told over the phone that my vehicle did not quite hit the mark where warranty would be able to cover it. I was told that I lost about a quart of oil and then I asked how much you have to lose and they said over a quart... attachments wont load. email
My check engine light was going on and off and I was told that I need to replace my catalytic converter. I went on line to see if my car had a recall it did show other 2014 souls but mine was not part of the recall #19v101. I'm wondering why mine wasn't part of it. I also had my engine replaced by Kia and after researching this I read that a faulty engine could have caused the converter to go. I'm trying to find out why my car wasn't part of the recall and if possible can it be added to the recall Please check into this for me and let me know
As I was driving on the highway, driving uphill, the car began to rattle under the hood as I attempted to increase speed. When I came to a full stop, the car completely shut down. I popped the hood, and the coolant cap was blown off and coolant was leaking everywhere. I was stranded on the highway until fire and rescue helped pull the car off the main road onto a side road. Called the Tow truck who took my car to a place in Ardmore, OK. Called Bobby’s Radiator and auto repair. Upon inspection, the mechanic stated that “the motor is locked up.”
Car knocks bad. Air has never worked well. Car had been stolen before. Insurance did not do anything. My insurance has gone up because of the security system scandal.
I drove my car a short distance, parked, and turned off the engine. about 5 minutes after I left my car in the parking lot, we heard a loud explosion and everyone in the office stepped outside. My car became a ball of orange fire and burned for some time. It took 3 fire trucks to contain the fire and several other vehicles were damaged from the explosion. Pictures taken after the incident show the engine was gone (melted maybe). The inside of the car was also burned beyond recognition. My potential death was approximately 5 minutes after I parked my car. The gas tank did not explode; rather, the car burned from the front to the rear. This vehicle should not be on the road and the problem should be made public immediately.
My car was stolen on June 30th 2023 due to the kia tik tok challenge. The officer at LMPD says is common. There were lots of kias in the impound lot! My car did not have standard antitheft installed. The car has body damage and the steering coloumn is trashed. From the theft This was a suprise to me. I had not notification from Kia about this trend. I was not offered software fix or steering wheel lock, which they say they are doing. I have had no contact from them. They have my address it has not changed. Now im left with a car I cannot drive. It also not covered for theft because of all the issues. This is the second time I have had major problems imobilzing the car. I had no use for 1.5 years and eventually a recall came in and they fixed. This car has been of the road more than on. I contacted the Kia dealership they refused to do anything. They told me to contact kia which i did online and by phone. Phone attmpt was unsuccesrull they just kept circling you around with key options and you would end up at the beginning again. I was able to file a report online, but its unclear of the solution it read someone would contact you. that has not happened
The car hood fire shield compartment has been making raddle noises. I have heard pieces falling into the engine several times. On 6/24/2023 I attempted to remove the fire shield and black hard pieces started to fall out. I immediately took it to Moritz Kia @ 8501 West Fwy, Fort Worth, TX 76116, (817) 560-6000. I spoke to the service person and was told "Don't worry about it, it is just the fire shield falling apart" I told him what about the engine compartment and was told that the engine is protected. This is not normal and I don't know what it is. It is coming from under the car hood falling into the engine compartment and there is still a lot more raddling under the hood when driving and falling out. I have provided pictures. I use this car to drive my wife to her chemo treatments. Please advise. Thank you for your time and effort.

Catalytic Converter malfunction and it was check by my mechanic at Hillebrand Automotive. It causes my 2014 Kia Soul to stop running in the middle of the highway. There were no warning lights, massages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This happened 3 months ago. On January 21, 2023. It's still down because i can't afford to have it fix.
My check engine light came on and took it to Coastal Kia. Was told the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. After checking it’s not on the recall list but why are some on recall and not others. It started with the light at 127,000 miles. At first it would only stay on for a few days and then go off. Now it stays on all the time. I’m going to have it replaced but trying to find out why only some of the 2014 Souls are under recall
Took my car in the dealership 3 months ago before I hit my 100K mark. The engine sounded like a Cummons diesel and the engine light kept going on and off. They did an oil change and kept my car for 3 days and were unable to diagnose the problem. I made sure the problem was documented by the dealer. Recently it started to sound the same and the light kept going on and off and I couldn't get into the dealership on my day off. So I went to a Jiffy Lube even though I still had some mileage before it was due. The guy there was very concerned and said my car was burning oil quite badly and there was an issue with the timing chain causing it and my car was at risk of seizing up. He recommended getting to the dealer as soon as possible. I took time from work the next day and fortunately the engine light was still on and they apparently diagnosed the problem without telling anything more than to expect a call from the manufacturer. That was on January 10th. It is now the 15th and I have not heard anything. I have never even been told when I take the car in for oil changes that I'm even low on oil and Jiffy Lube has been the only one to bring this to my attention. Prior to this the dealership has been the only one to do my oil changes and I was in one more time between when the problem started in February and now.
Whenever needing to accelerate sharply on highway or roadways a plume of white smoke is released from the engine manifold compartment area and creates a smoke screen surrounding and behind vehicle. Had numerous mechanics fix things on this, fuel injectors recently, Kia dealership states it needs a new engine but extended warranty would not cover the cost. Vehicle was sold to me and under financing through Westlake Financial and is lien holder, but vehicle is claimed by dealership to be unsafe to drive. Forced to purchase an additonal new vehicle and still paying and insurinance on this vehicle.
The vehicle’s engine spontaneously caught fire on the interstate. Entire car and all belongings inside were a total loss.
The engine is the system that is malfunctioned and yes it is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle accelerates at a slower pace than actual acceleration pressure put on pedal and then it lurches/jerks forward at a fast pace and then slows down and repeats that process over and over. Yes the problem has been confirmed. It has been inspected by the dealership. Yes the warning lamps that often illuminate are the check engine light and the oil light. They first appeared to my knowledge on 01/2020. I have been told numerous times by the Kia dealership where I get the vehicle serviced as well as Kia America Inc. Corporate Headquarters, that the engine has a malfunction and needs to be replaced. I attempted to have this problem fixed and I have missed work and spent thousands of dollars for this vehicle to work correctly.
My car was jerking, and smoking broke down in OK, the mechanic that fixed my car told me to reach out to KIA and you because he said that Oil was leaking down into the coils and I was lucky that A. it didn't catch fire with me and my child in the car and B. that it didn't burn up my motor. Since this happened on 9/5/22 I have to put 2qts oil in my car ever week and half because the oil is "burning up". I have the receipt with details from the shop in Oklahoma. I have reached out to Kia several times, but nobody calls me back.

I had my car “recall” checked out at a dealership. They preformed a software update but I have had problems ever since. I’ve replace the catalytic converter twice. Had to replace spark plugs after the dealership blew them all and only decided to fix one. I’ve had engine misfires and burning smells and have had those issues fixed multiple times. The car is not safe to drive. They won’t do anything because there’s no active recalls, but I am having these issues continuously. The engines either going to blow up or stall and someone including me is going to get hurt. Kia needs to be help responsible for this. I’ve had regular maintenance and oil changes my entire time owning the car. I shouldn’t be having to replace coil packs, ignition coils, spark plugs and catalytic converters every 4 months. My car is also burning oil like no other.
I recently had the engine related "recalls" done to my 2014 kia Soul car. The dealership made no mention of my bad engine noises on the service invoice or when he called me to come pick up the car that had "passed" the engine test and the ecu update. My faint engine noise is escalating greatly following the recall completion. After speaking a second time with the service advisor at Kia, he did admit the noise was present and said it was not my fault but, no coverage was available for me. My car was already over the extended warrantee mileage cap back when I received the initial recall notice so it seems I was always to be out of any engine repair coverage by Kia. I have a nice car in which I have overspent effort and money maintaining the engine better than the manufactures recommendations and it is basically junk now due to the engine prematurely breaking down. It sits in the street and I am without my car and I am far from alone as a Kia Soul owner. A car that is worth many thousands of dollars to me running is now worth only about $200. to the junk man. You can't find a good, affordable car to replace it with today. My question is: Why would the 2.0 Kia Soul owners not have the same, unlimited mileage warrantee on their engines which the other Kia and Hyundia owner's engines have received for these defective engines? I think it is criminal, literally stealing money from people by selling a defective item and not compensating the owners for that defect. this action also forces the customer to spend more money on another vehicle, way before the time it should be necessary to do so. I could have easily put 50-75K more miles on this Kia Soul car if it were not for the bad engine.
I had the Knock sensor recall updated on my car last year. This installation was faulty so Kia had to create a software for my car for the knock sensor. Recently, my car has starting losing momentum when trying to drive and it's slow to shift almost like it's stuck in safe mode which is what happened after the kds was put in place. I believe the software or the sensor may be malfunctioning. This is affecting my gas mileage and possibly harming my transmission. This could possibly cause me to be in an accident with severe injuries or death.
Car has issues when starting up. When turning on, occasionally it will take time to completely turn on, its as if it’s not receiving enough power from battery, but then it will turn on with the traction control and engine light being on. I would have to turn it off and turn it back off for those light to turn off. I’ve also driven the car and it will turn off, but the light is still on, the engine just turned off. This will also happen when I’m idle and waiting to run the car. When driving, I feel something being moved and the traction light & engine light will turn on. Especially when I try to get more speed on the car. I’ve taken the car numerous times for this issue but each time they’ve told me nothing was wrong with it. I’ve replaced battery since this was what we thought the issue was initially. On the 3rd time I’ve taken the car to get fixed, i was told that the ECM is the issue. Took a month to get the piece and car fixed. Same day receiving it back, it was doing the same thing where it would not turn on properly and the traction control light is on. And now when driving the engine and traction light are both on more often.

Unknown, issue is the vehicle will not accelerate or change gears properly on an incline. On level roads the acceleration is still very slow.

The contact stated that during a brakes and struts repair being performed by an independent mechanic, the mechanic informed the contact that there was oil pan leakage but could not fix the failure since the vehicle was under a recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer performed an oil change and updated the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) software. The dealer informed the contact to drive the vehicle for 1,000 miles then bring the vehicle back. The contact drove the vehicle for 400 miles and the check engine warning light illuminated and the knock sensor went into limp mode. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and diagnosed that the engine was damaged from the previous dealer Richland Motors (4653 Pearl Rd, Cleveland, OH 44109) having the top engine taken apart and rebuilt. The dealer also informed the contact that it was normal for Kia vehicles to consume a quart of oil every thousand miles. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

My dash lights would flash bright and dim randomly while driving at first. A few weeks later my headlights would flicker from high beam to low beam and dash lights would still flicker. Now about a month into this my headlights still flicker but they have even turned off all while driving and I was told my brake lights go off as well ,dash lights still flicker and my a/c will not work/blow randomly so it seems to be involving electrical .

NOW AFTER THE KIA CONSUMER TOLD ME MULTIPLE TIMES THEY APPROVED THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT THE DEALERSHIP HAD SOME ISSUE DUE TO AN ECU KSDS UPDATE THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF AND IT WAS NEVER PREFORMED. SO SHE APOLOGIZED BY TELLING ME THE INFORMATION THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY PROVIDED MUTIPLE TIMES WAS INCORRECT AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. I READ OVER THE SC200 ENGINE INSPECTION TEST RECALL LETTER. IT ACTUALLY STATES THEY WILL PREFORM THE KSDS ECU SOFTWARE UPDATE IN ADDITION TO THIS RECALL. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. SENT ANOTHER ESCALATION BECAUSE THIS IS NOT FAULT OF MY OWN THE CAR IS BROKE DOWN AND ALSO NOT MY FAULT THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG INFORMATION (SO THEY SAY.) IN MAY 2019 I HAD A REPAIR DONE DUE TO A RECALL ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN OCTOBER 2020 BARELY 1 1/2 YEARS LATER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT AGAIN. AS IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY 1YR IT WASN'T COVERED. I HAD IT REPLACED AT MY COST A PART THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED 10PLUS YEARS ONLY TO HAVE MY CAR STALL AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER. I HAD IT TOWED DIRECTLY TO KIA DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS STILL CURRENTLY. THEY SAID THE ENGINE IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. KIA STATES THAT GOOD WILL DOESN'T EXTEND THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH LIGHTS FLASHING AND A RUMBLING OF THE CAR; THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND MOVE OVER SO THAT WE WEREN'T HIT AS MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE COILS, SPARK PLUGS HAVE MULTIPLE CANS OF OIL AVAILABLE AS IT BURNED THROUGH OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AS THOUGH THERE WAS A LEAK. NO LIGHT EVER INDICATED THAT IT WAS LOW WE JUST HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY CHECK IT FOR OIL AND IT WOULD USUALLY BE MORE THAN 1 QUART LOW. THESE PROBLEMS ALL STARED AFTER THE SUPPOSED FIX IN MAY 2019. THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED COMPLETELY.
LOSING OIL AND HAVING A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. KIA MOTORS HAD US TAKE A VEHICLE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THAT REVEALED LOSS OF 1/2 QUART EVERY 500 MILES. THEY ALSO HAD US TAKE A COMPRESSION TEST, AND THREE SEPARATE TRIPS TO THE DEALER FOR VIDEO ANALYSIS. AFTER SIX WEEKS THEY FINALLY DECLARED THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ORDERED A SHORT BLOCK ENGINE AND SENT THE 'HEAD OF THE ENGINE OUT TO BE RETOOLED BY A LOCAL SHOP. AFTER OVER THREE WEEKS WE GOT THE CAR BACK. IN A TIME PERIOD OF ONE WEEK THE CAR HAD A SERIES OF EVENTS. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC ON MY WAY TO WORK, IT ALSO HAD A PERIOD WERE WHEN STARTING THE CAR, IT SHOOK LIKE CRAZY, BUT STARTED. THE TOP COVER I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT SHOOK OFF ITS PEGS AND WAS RESTING LOOSE ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AND WAS LOSING OIL. I HAD TO ADD 1/2 QUART. THE DIAGNOSTIC ON MY PARTNER'S WI-FI IN THE CAR HAD A DIAGNOSTIC ERROR STATING THE CAM-SHAFT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT A NEW ENGINE WAS JUST BREAKING IN, BUT THE FINAL STRAW WAS A LARGE POOL OF AUTOMOTIVE FLUID ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO WORK ON IT FURTHER. BOTH THE MECHANIC WHO PUT THE ENGINE BACK TOGETHER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER WHOM I INITIALLY TALKED TO ARE NOW GONE. I STARTED THIS PROCESS ON 06/10/20, PICKED UP A REPAIRED CAR ON 09/29/20, AND RETURNED IT IN A WEEK. AS I WRITE THIS COMMENT IT IS NOW 10/17/20 AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND IF THERE IS ANY MORE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE WITH ALL THAT HAS OCCURRED AFTER THE WARRANTY REPAIRS. APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES LATER, THE CAR STALLED AT 35 MPH AND DIED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED AND WE HAD IT TOWED TO WAIKEM KIA. THEY DIAGNOSED A $1500.00 CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE INDICATING A HIGH AMOUNT OF CARBON BUILD UP CAUSING FAILURE. CONTACTED KIA WHO REFUSES TO ACCEPT ANY CUPLABILITY FOR THE CAT FAILURE. THAT'S TWO TIMES WHERE A CRASH COULD HAVE HAPPENED DUE TO FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE ON THE ROADWAY.

THE RECALL NUMBER IS SC155. THIS RECALL SUPERSEDES CAMPAIGNS 14V-332 AND 15V-736. I HAD TAKEN MY KIA SOUL TO GET A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER BASED OFF THE FIRST RECALL IN NOVEMBER. THEY MUST HAVE PUT ANOTHER FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN BECAUSE THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO THE RALLY KIA DEALERSHIP IN PALMDALE, CALIFORNIA AND IT IS CURRENTLY STILL THERE. THEY TOOK 2 DAYS TO GIVE ME A RESPONSE ON IF THE CAR WOULD GET FIXED WITH THE RECALL AGAIN. THEY SAID MULTIPLE MECHANICS HAD TO CHECK IT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SAID IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I DIDN'T PUT OIL IN THE CAR WHICH CAUSE A PISTON ROD TO BREAK AND PUNCTURE THE ENGINE BLOCK, CAUSING AN OIL LEAK WHICH CAUSE THE FIRE. THEY ARE TRYING TO BLAME IT ON ME AND CHARGE ME $6,000 TO FIX THE CAR. THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. I HAD JUST PUT OIL IN IT THE NIGHT BEFORE HENCE THE OIL SPLATTER ON THE BACK WINDSHIELD. AND THE WAY THEY DESCRIBED THE PISTON ROD BREAKING AND THE OIL LEAK IS EXACTLY HOW IT IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. THEY SHOULD BE FIXING MY CAR WITH THE RECALL.

INTERMITTENT NON STARTING. MY KIA RUNS GREAT WHEN IT IS DRIVING ETC, ITS THE ONCE IN AWHILE THAT IT WON'T START THAT IS THE ISSUE. MY MECHANIC CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND NATURALLY IT DOESN'T OCCUR WHEN ANYONE NEEDS TO SEE IT. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED ONLY FOR IT TO START RIGHT UP FOR THE MECHANIC. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED, IT HAS COST ME WORK HOURS AND MONEY. MY VEHICHLE WAS PARKED AND OFF BEFORE TRYING TO START IT. I HAD DRIVEN IT THE DAY BEFORE, AND I DRIVE IT OFTEN. IT DOESN'T JUST SIT.

AS I DROVE HOME I HEARD AN UNUSUAL SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. ONCE HOME I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND I HAD NO OIL SHOWING ON THE DIP STICK. I FILLED THE OIL RESERVOIR WITH THE CORRECT OIL TYPE BUT NOW THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS SOLID AND NO LONGER FLASHING. DRIVING HOME A FEW MILES AFTER GETTING OIL MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF STEERING TWICE. NO SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I CONTACTED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH CONCERNS ABOUT THE CURRENT RECALL ON THE KIA SOUL BUT WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR MODEL. USUALLY I AM NOTIFIED IF MY VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY POSSIBLE RECALLS AND THEY ARE FIXED RIGHT AWAY. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS RECALL AND NOW MY VEHICLE MAY HAVE POSSIBLE DAMAGE BECAUSE OF IT. MY CONCERN IS THAT I WASN'T NOTIFIED AND REPAIRS MIGHT NOT BE COVERED BY KIA. I RAN MY VIN NUMBER NUMEROUS TIMES AND NOTHING CAME UP FOR A RECALL. I RESEARCHED POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF WHAT COULD CAUSE WHAT I EXPERIENCED. I WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT POSSIBLE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER COULD BE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE LOSS OF ACCELERATION, LOSS OF OIL, LOSS OF CONTROL IN STEERING. THANKFULLY NO ENGINE FIRE THOUGH.

THIS IS INVOLVING RECALL SC176 AND OTHER CONCERNS. CAR LOSES FORCE WHILE ACCELERATING THAT HAS HAPPEN 2-3 TIMES. AS WELL AS RATTLING NOISE UNDER CAR. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS ARE FLICKERING AND TURN OFF COMPLETELY. CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ONCE THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, I BOUGHT NEW BATTERY AND STILL IT INDICATES THAT NEW BATTERY IS LOW 9VOLTS. ALL THIS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. I HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW AS EVIDENCE. BUT I WILL TAKE PICTURES AS THE LIGHTS START TO FLICKER AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO KIA TO HAVE A RECALL PERFORMED WHICH THEY SAID THEY DID BUT CAR IS STILL NOT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD. OIL CHANGE WAS DONE ACCORDING TO THE TECH. AND A DIAGNOSE WAS ALSO PREFORMED AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG YET MY CAR KEEPS FLICKERING LIGHTS, RATTLING NOISE AT TIMES, SLOWING DOWN. BUT NOTHING IS WRONG. OH AND THE BATTERY IS STILL CAUSING ME PROBLEMS BECAUSE ITS NOT GETTING THE SUPPORT FROM THE ALTERNATOR BECAUSE ITS STILL LOW INDICATOR.

DEFECT IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER
I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALLS ESPECIALLY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL I FOUND IT VERY ODD THAT I HAE AN ISSUE WITH IT ONLY HAVING THE CAR FOR A FEW YEARS.MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER
ON MAY 15TH 2018 I CALLED DOWN TO FELTON HOLLY KIA AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE WHO COULD TELL ME WHETHER I STILL HAD A WARRANTY ON MY CAR. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT AND I SPOKE WITH A YOUNG LADY WHO INFORMED ME THAT I HAD THE KIA BASIC WARRANTY AS WELL AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED TO THE YOUNG LADY I WAS HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND SHE STATED "OH YOU SHOULD BE FINE WITH NO CHARGES BEING YOU HAVE BOTH WARRANTIES, LET ME TRANSFER YOU TO THE SUPERVISOR IN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT". I SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR IN THE PARTS TO DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT MY CAR WAS STALLING OUT EVERT TIME I SLOWED DOWN OR WAS AT A STOP. HE STATED HE HAD TO LOOK UP TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF WARRANTY I HAD AND THEN HE RETURNED TO THE PHONE AND STATED YOU SHOULD BE FINE AND HE ASK IF I COULD BRING THE CAR IN RIGHT NOW. I INFORMED HIM THAT I WAS IN TOWNSEND WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTE TO AN HOUR AWAY, HE STATED THAT HIS MAN GOT OFF AT 4:30 PM AND ASKED IF I COULD BRING THE CAR IN ON SATURDAY MORNING MAY 19TH AT 10:00AM. I STATED THAT WOULD BE FINE. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON SATURDAY MORNING AND THE CAR WAS PUT ON A MACHINE TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRANK SENSOR AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE BAD. THE PARTS SUPERVISOR INFORMED THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THAT HE SEEM ON RECORD BUT I PROCEED TO INFORM HIM THAT I ALSO HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WELL AND I WAS INFORMED THAT EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FINE WITHOUT ANY CHARGE TO ME. THE PARTS SUPERVISOR THEN SAID" JUST WAIT FOR A CALL ON MONDAY FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR AND HE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHETHER THE PARTS WOULD BE COVERED" LONG STORY SHORT, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ON MONDAY MAY 22ND 2019 FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR STATING HE HAD GOOD NEWS AND SOME BAD NEWS. BAD NEWS NEITHER PART WAS COVERED AND OWED $221.73.

I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND THE FIRE GREW AND COMPLETLY BURNED THE CAR.

IMMEDIATELY THICK BLACK VOLUMINOUS SMOKE EMITTED FROM PASSENGER SIDE UNDER HOOD AND WITHIN SECONDS FLAMES DISCHARGED. MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OUR DOG EXTRICATED OURSELVES IMMEDIATELY AND STARTED WALKING TO NEIGHBORS HOUSE FOR FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO MITIGATE DAMAGE. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE THE FIRST OF SEVERAL EXPLOSIONS BEGAN AND ERUPTION OF ENGULFING FIRE BEGAN TO CONSUME THE VEHICLE. WE HAD STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE GRASS CAUGHT FIRE. 911 WAS CALLED AND WHEN THE MEMBERS OF TWO LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS ARRIVED THE CAR WAS TOTALLY EVOLVED IN FLAMES. A LIQUID (PROBABLY WATER) WAS USED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. CONTACTED FARMERS INSURANCE COMPANY. NO POLICE REPORT REQUIRED RE: NO COLLISION. WE WERE DILIGENT IN HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE AND ATTENTION TO VEHICLE RECALLS. TIRES WERE REPLACED WHEN WORN AND RXP GAS ADDITIVE USED. INSURANCE ADJUSTOR STATED VEHICLE WAS SO BADLY BURNED IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF FIRE.

4 TIMES WILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STARTED TO SMOKE SO BAD THE CARS BEHIND HAD TO STOP. THE VERY FIRST TIME WAS 6 WEEKS AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR. TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALER THEY RECREATED THE ISSUE AND SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FLAW IN THE ENGINE HEAD. KIA SAID I HAD TO WAIT TILL THEY MAKE A RECALL. 3 MONTHS AFTER THAT ISSUE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WE WERE SITTING IN AN INTERSECTION WHEN A TRUCK WAS GOING TO HIT US. I FLORED THE GAS AND A BUNCH A SMOKE CAME OUT IT BOGED BUT WE GOT OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME. KIA TOOK THE VAULVE COVER OFF AND IT LOOKED LIKE TAR. HOW CAN THAT BE POSIBLE WHEN IT WAS NOT EVEN DRIVEN THE FIRST 3,000 MILES FOR THE OIL CHANGE??? WE ARE PAYING FOR A CAR THAT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT.

MY KIA SOUL 2014 JUST BLEW UP AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE ENGINE WAS A 4 CYLINDER GDI. THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES. THE ENGINE BLEW LOUD AND AS I CAME TO A HALT THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THEN THE GAS TANK EXPLODED. I WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL GOING UP A HIP NOTICED THE ENGINE RIVETING HARD AND THEN THE CAR ENGINE MADE THAT LOUD BANG AND THEN IN 12 MINUTES CAR WAS ENGULFED AND GAS TANK BLEW AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED.

ON 10/25/2017 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY 2014 KIA SOUL CAUGHT ON FIRE - SPONTANEOUSLY AND WITHOUT WARNING (NO APPARENT ISSUES IN OPERATING THE CAR, WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH, ETC.). TWO FELLOW MOTORISTS HONKED THEIR HORNS AND FLASHED THEIR LIGHTS IN AN EFFORT TO SIGNAL ME. THE BACK WINDSHIELD BEGAN TO 'FOG UP' DUE TO THE HEAT/FIRE, AND WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY. IN AN EFFORT TO ESCAPE THIS EMERGENCY, I ALONG WITH MY SON, WHO WAS DRIVING, IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND MOVED A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY BEFORE CALLING 911. AT THIS POINT FLAMES WERE COMING FROM BOTH UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAR WAS SOON ENGULFED IN FLAMES. MULTIPLE FIRE ENGINES RESPONDED TO THE SCENE IN EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE AND SECURING THE SCENE. THE CAR WAS A COMPLETE LOSS (SEE PICTURES ATTACHED IN THE REPORT). IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT MY 2014 KIA SOUL WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP BETWEEN 10/17/2017 - 10/19/2017 FOR DIAGNOSTICS DUE TO LIGHTS (INTERNAL AND ON THE DASH) FLICKERING AND AN ABNORMAL SOUND. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED THE BATTERY, PERFORMED A SAFETY INSPECTION, BUT WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE FLICKERING LIGHTS ISSUE, NOR WERE THEY ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ABNORMAL SOUND ALTHOUGH THEY DID ACKNOWLEDGE ITS PRESENCE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO ME AND ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. MY CAR WAS BROUGHT HOME, PARKED, AND NOT DRIVEN UNTIL THE INCIDENT ON 10/25/2017.

THE THE ENGINE FAILED, SENT IT OUT TO THE DEALER TO WORK ON IT UNDER WARRANTY, AND WE'VE HAD AN OPEN CASE SINCE. THEN RECENTLY MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION ON ITS OWN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IS HIGHLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

THE VEHICLE HIT A TREE AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED. THE SEAT BELTS FUNCTIONED, AND THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IMMEDIATELY OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER. TWO BYSTANDERS COULD NOT OPEN THE DOORS BECAUSE THE DOOR LOCKS WERE STILL ENGAGED. THEY HAD TO BREAK THE GLASS, MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS, THEN OPEN THEM - THE DOORS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY AFTER UNLOCKED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE DOOR LOCKS WERE SUPPOSED TO DISENGAGE WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED - THEY DID NOT.
