We have had multiple issues with this car. First the pearl white peeling off on hood and above the windshield. Second CV3 axles boots leaking on our vehicle and multiple others at the Kia dealership. Third burnin oil even with good maintenance records. 3rd sunroof won’t open or close now for no reason at all. 4th back seat now attempts to fold at random times. Even with our kids in the seat. 5th oil housing leak. 6th CEL comes on and off randomly causing it to run rough. 7th screen is now to have issues of not working right. We’ve had to pay out of pocket for multiple things. Including the paint. We’ve spoken to service department and common issue they don’t see why it’s not a recall by now. Dealership is no help. Beware
P0741 Error Codes - Torque Converter issue around 100k miles. Shuttering at low rpm between 2nd and 3rd gears. This is a known issue for owners of the 2020 model year. TCM software update and transmission oil change did not fix.
Oil consumption problem and oil filter housing needing replacement.
After 8 months of trips to the shop telling them the engine was bad, and spending thousands to do things it didn’t need trying to get warranty to cover engine, kia finally agreed it had issues. Tore it down and piston rings are bad. There was carbon build up despite regular maintenance and they are telling me warranty won’t replace
The engine is consuming oil
AWD Coupler locking and wobbling jerks vehicle
High oil consumption. Oil needs added frequently or it gets low and car doesn’t run correctly. Transmission slips daily at low speed first thing in the morning. When making slow turns tires tires don’t seem to remain steady/grip. The car is hoppy like there is a traction problem. Tires have been replaced and issue remains.
Right at 100k miles both our engine began burning oil at an extremely high rate with no clear resolution for the issue. We are adding 1-2 quarts ever week. Simultaneously, we received transmission solenoid codes from a check engine light. The sealed factory transmission had burn looking transmission fluid and after replacement the light continue to show and now the transmission is slipping and hesitating and we are being told it needs replaced.
Windshield cracked from minor item being thrown up by car in front of me. Engine burns out no oil on dipstick with regular maintenance engine tick transmission slips axle boot ripped oil pan cracked due to it being faulty
I had the AWD coupler replaced at 66000 under warranty due to a TSB and hesitation when turning at slow speeds. I'm at 110000 and the AWD coupler is failing again and needs replacement but Kia warranty won't cover it again. Very frustrated
For the past year to year ½ I have brought my car in for concerns with idle, hesitation when accelerating, stalling out, etc. This has put me in compromised situations when in traffic, at stop lights and when trying to accelerate to get on the highway. I was told it was fine, until it was not. Now my engine needs to be replaced. What I discovered in my car was their worksheet on issues that they never shared with me. Identified issues on this report: Fault Code 6, PO300400 - history, cylinder misfire, PO30500 - history, cylinder misfire PO34100 When going back for a 'simple' 1000 mile oil check, I was told there was not enough oil loss to identify concern. When I checked my own oil after another 1000 miles, KIA then pursued. In researching, there is a history of these engine problems and engines needing to be replaced with KIA. This is unacceptable and has compromised safety and any value I hoped to have with my car.
My torque converter is failing on my 2020 Kia Telluride. This is a known issue among other owners of this model year, and I believe Kia knows about it and is refusing to acknowledge because of how expensive it is.
Car erratically shifts and provides more power to vehicle when it is not necessary. It often shakes in between shifting.
The contact's spouse owns a 2020 Kia Telluride. The contact's spouse stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle inadvertently rolled backwards and struck the contact’s aunt as she was exiting the vehicle. The contact’s aunt was taken to the Emergency Room by ambulance/helicopter, where she later succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the scene. In addition, before the incident, there was grinding coming from the gears. The contact was unsure what specific injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V214000 (Power Train); which the contact related to the failure. The contact had previously received the recall notification. The dealer was not contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

This is a follow-up to Complaint #11666572 regarding my 2020 Kia Telluride (VIN: [XXX] ), with urgent concerns about ongoing safety violations and abusive conduct by Greenway Kia East and Kia America. On June 26, 2025, Kia America reversed its prior refusal and agreed to reimburse Uber, rental, and towing costs—but only after I filed multiple complaints. Earlier, they claimed to have no influence over the dealership, which had refused all reimbursement after I complained about Service Manager Gina. Worse, on June 27, the dealership responded via BBB telling me to contact Gina again—the very person I formally complained about for unprofessional and negligent conduct. This isn’t just mishandling; it is degrading, retaliatory, and dangerous. Key safety/legal concerns: • My vehicle was returned on May 31, 2025, with dangerously low coolant, just days after engine replacement—posing a critical safety risk. • The service manager dismissed my concerns until I insisted, then acted with open disrespect. • Repairs were withheld May 19–28 unless I paid $1,833.77, despite warranty coverage. Only after I came in person on May 28 did they reverse and offer free service. • I was charged $580.97 for a diagnostic test tied to a manufacturer defect that led to engine replacement—still not refunded. • The pattern of neglect, retaliation, and deception from both the dealer and Kia America endangers drivers and violates federal safety standards. This dealer has acted with impunity since May 19, 2025. Their behavior is abusive, unsafe, and incompatible with their licensing. I urge NHTSA to investigate whether Greenway Kia East should retain its dealership license. Their conduct undermines public safety and federal standards. A full follow-up and attachments were sent to [email protected] from [XXX] . Please contact me for documentation. The front axels are leaking and the transmission is lagging/jerking while accelerating.
The check engine and oil pressure light will start to flash when starting to brake. While this is happening the car starts to shake, stall, and you struggle to accelerate. This has happened multiple times and the last time was in the middle of an intersection. KIA dealership did not fix the issue the two times I took it to the shop. The third time in they did some test and said it was an oil consumption issue and the piston rings in the SUV have failed and the car needed a new engine. This car is a 2020 Telluride with 78,759 miles on it. This issued started well before the 78,759 miles. Oil consumption has been a major issue with other KIA models and they have not seemed to fix this issue with the telluride. I believe they have replaced engines at an extremely high rate and now they are denying engine replacement under their warranty and stating piston ring damage is not covered under the warranty due to high oil consumption. You guys have issued a recall on 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul models for piston ring failure and now they do not want to start replacing tellurides. There is a Facebook page out there labeled KIA telluride issues with oil consumption being a big issue in the comments. KIA stating they will not cover the engine replacement is not only wrong is it a safety issue. I truly believe they know this is a serious issue and have not done anything to correct it. This vehicle is still under warranty and I am still in contact with the dealership to fix this issue.
On [XXX], my Kia Telluride received a warranty engine replacement at Greenway Kia East in Orlando, FL. Just two days later, on [XXX], the engine overheated while I was driving with my young child. The temperature warning light came on. I stopped immediately and opened the hood — there was no coolant in the system at all. This failure occurred immediately after a major engine replacement, suggesting that the dealer failed to fill or properly check the coolant system. I was left stranded near a daycare and had to call a third-party tow truck because Kia roadside assistance estimated a 90–120 minute wait. This put my child and me in serious danger. Despite the dealer’s clear negligence, I was sent an invoice for $1,833.77, blaming me for the damage. Upon retrieving the car on May 31, 2025, I personally checked under the hood — the coolant level was still below the MIN line. When I pointed this out, the service manager said, “We’re not required to top it off, but if that satisfies you, we’ll put some in.” This is extremely unsafe and irresponsible, especially after a critical repair like an engine replacement. Later, the dealership even claimed to Kia America that the engine was not replaced under warranty, contradicting their earlier confirmation. This kind of conflicting information, combined with unsafe practices and disregard for basic safety protocols, raises serious concerns about consumer safety and the dealership’s integrity. To make matters worse, Kia America closed my case ([XXX]) on June 10 without notifying me or giving me a chance to respond. I received only one dropped call from an unknown number, and no voicemail or follow-up communication. A formal complaint was mailed to Kia America on June 11, 2025, and I am currently waiting for their response. On June 12, 2025, I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I have a 2020 Kia Telluride that I bought brand new from Kia. I have performed regular maintenance on the vehicle and performed the repairs required by any recalls. When my vehicle surpassed 75k miles, the vehicle started having issues with excessive oil consumption. I had my vehicle serviced at 75k miles with the oil changed. When my vehicle was passed 79k miles, the vehicle started stalling, piston misfiring, and engine started vibrating. I took it into the dealer, and they performed diagnostic tests. The determined pistons were working fine but my oil level was very low. This was around 4k miles after my oil change. Kia requires oil changes every 7500 miles. I had the dealer change the oil. Once again, when my vehicle was approaching 4500 miles, the vehicle started to vibrate, piston was not filing properly. I checked my oil level, and it showed very minimal oil on the dip stick. The oil level was well below that was needed for the engine to properly operate. I put closed to 5 quarts of oil to get the engine to the oil level it needed. I am concerned that the excessive oil consumption can lead to the vehicle stalling on the road resulting in collision with other vehicles resulting in bodily injury or harm. According to Kia the oil consumption is fine. How is consuming 5 quarts of oil in 4500 miles fine when the manufacturer states oil changes are required every 7500 miles? The engine itself has a capacity of 6.9 quarts. At the rate my engine is burning oil, I would need over 7.2 quarts of oil to drive 7500 miles. Additionally, having an engine continuously operating with low oil would result in engine damage and thousands of dollars in repairs. The problem I am having in my vehicle is experienced by thousands of Kia Telluride owners. It's the same problem Kia has had in the past with other models. Kia is trying to avoid repairing their defective vehicle and placing the burden on the consumer.
Car has been brought to KIA for transmission issues multiple times and the associate tells me to just tighten the gas cap to get the light to go off. The car is not shifting properly and will "jump" or "lunge" forward while driving. I have noticed that the RPM's will jump and bounce around, seemingly down shifting, then shift again, and then down shift again, which causes jerking motion. The reason I initially took the vehicle in was for a "shake" or "wobble" when accelerating up a hill (semi steep incline) or at freeway speeds (55-70MPH). In these instances, the vehicle will have a hard time shifting and temporarily lose momentum causing concerns for me and other drivers on the road. The transmission light will go on and I call KIA to be told to tighten the gas cap. I recently brought it in for the third time and they diagnosed something different. I have mentioned the transmission each time, but they have focused on other items and not the transmission. I have had the shocks replaced, the tires replaced, alignment performed, and the problem still persist. However, the dealership will not look at the transmission and says that it is the other items, but the issue still remains after fixing the other items. The shock failure caused other items to wear out and the dealer should be on the hook for those items. I have brought the vehicle in dating to last year for the transmission issue with no help from the dealership. Please take action so that we don't lose our lives or put others at risk for injury.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? POWER TRAIN, OIL CONSUMPTION, CAMSHAFT POSITION , CIRCUIT SENSORS A X 4, HEADLAMPS HIGH BEAMS DO NOT FUNCTION.CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FAILS. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING AFTER SUNSET IF I CANT SEE ROAD WHEN NEEDED MY HIGH BEAMS DID NOT FUNCTION I WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED BUT THERE WERE NO PARTS. STILL AN ISSUE. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? YES about 4 times. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO BEFORE THE 4TH WEEK OF HAVING VEHICLE AFTER 3 WEEKS OF PURCHASE WITH NO OIL.I REPORTED IT TO Y SELLER WAS TOLD TO PAY TO FIX AT SERVICE BUT I DID NOT EXPECT TO BUY A FAULTY VEHICLE AFTER THE STRUGGLE WAS TO OBTAIN SUCH VEHICE FOR MY BUSINESS.
The car is a 2020 Kia Telluride. It was purchased in August 2023 at the time it was leaking oil took it back to the dealer and they replaced the housing put in a new filter and said all was good .For a year. it constantly needed oil took it back to the dealer, said that everything was fine. I would be driving and the car would stop. The oil lamp would come on and I would have to drive and put more oil in it every week. I was putting a quart of oil into the vehicle just about weekly because it seemed to be leaking oil and just a dying out. just a few days ago after putting a quart of oil in I’m driving my vehicle and all of a sudden Smoke comes out of the back a little bit out of the hood. It just stopped all the lights went on the car went dead. Had to call the police get the vehicle towed to the dealer at that point was told the engine had died. They want to put a new engine in the car Which it’s a five year-old car. It should not need a new engine what is causing it to need a newengine. Ever since I purchased the car, it had oil problems so did the oil lead to engine failure. I know I’m not the only one that this has happened to every time I would take it back to the Kia dealer. I was told everything‘s fine everything was not fine never got any warning lights or signals, except for when I was driving the car would literally sputter and stop at a light. I would have to restart it and then go get oil.
My vehicle has been repaired multiple times for leaking oil in different areas.
CV axel vibration issues. Seems to be a common complaint on 2020 Telluride but no recall. Car is unsafe to drive.
Our vehicle is 4 years old and has been experiencing excessive oil consumption (a quart every ~600 miles) and extreme shaking at speeds between 20-50mph. After months of trying to diagnose the issue we have been quoted a total engine and transmission replacement. After calling dealerships across the East coast for second opinions, this is a common diagnosis for our vehicle year and model and even within our small local dealership they are seeing other 2019 and 2020 Kia models experiencing failed piston rings. Kia declined our request for corporate intervention to address the issue.
#1 Rear shocks have been replaced 5 times (beginning November 2021-September 2024) after bringing the vehicle in 7 times due to clunking. After dealing with Kia directly they agreed to cover costs. Clunking was resolved shortly but started again a couple months later. #2 Recently the car began locking up while in operation, while accelerating, but no code was detected. Transmission was flushed (December 2024) and one month later same type of lock up began happening again, this time the check engine light came on (January 2025). Code indicates Torque converter clutch is off. Dealer will now try to fix the issue. Car is available for inspection. Problem #1has been reproduced by Kia service at the dealership.Problem #2, since code was detected dealer will inspect and hopefully be able to fix. This car is just over 5 years old with less than 70,000 miles. Between these 2 issues I have been in to the service department going on 8 times!
While traveling at highway speeds between 65-75MPH the vehicle with violently shake while shifting and then lunge forward. However, during the shaking the vehicle is hard to control and feels like it is going to just shut off. This scenario primarily happens on flat roads at the above mentioned speed. However, we have noticed an issue with the vehicle while turning corners and accelerating, as well as, when going up hills or steep highway sections. The vehicle has a V6 but seems to struggle shifting when trying to accelerate even to 40-50MPH. In some instances the vehicle has labored up a hill and seemingly doesn't want to downshift and pick go faster. It seems that this issue has triggered a TSB from Kia, but the issue has potential for elevated risks for other drivers on the road. If the vehicle is unable to maintain freeway speeds or climbing speed, then it poses a risk to traffic on either side of the road and the potential need to pull over. It seems that the vehicle loses power or momentum and would make it very dangerous to get off the road or onto the shoulder. The violent shaking could cause a driver to panic and lose control of the vehicle while at highway speeds and needs to be investigated.
Oil filter, housing leaks where it bolts to the motor this could become a fire hazard but the exhaust close to it
We contacted Kia US after taking the Kia Telluride to a Kia service station for an oil change. The service tech told us that they were not going to do an oil change because,”the Telluride was a ticking time bomb.” This was said in front of the Kia service Mgr.We were very nervous driving the vehicle because no one explained what that meant.Shortly after the service appointment, the Telluride’s engine caught on fire.We call Kia US that same day to open up a case.We explained all the issues we had with the Telluride (windshield issues, headlight issues, main display screen issues, luggage rack issues, sunroof, drive shaft, wiper fluid filter issues), to include the engine. After paying an attorney to provide all documents that Kia US requested from us, including every oil change receipt for the Telluride, Kia US only offered to only pay for the parts for the driveshaft/engine fire issues. To make matters worse, the Kia service department said that the 100+ parts needed to repair the engine, were on back order. Our Telluride’s engine caught fire in April and Kia US has done nothing for us, even though the issues are under 2 recalls. This is unacceptable for a manufacturer to ignore recalls, especially when it comes to the safety of people, families and children. We contacted Kia US for 6 months with no help from them. We sent registered/certified letters to Kia US executives, legal Dept, Kia Finance and the last communication from Kia US was that they are not doing anything for us- no repairs for the recalls, even though we mentioned the recalls associated with our Vin/Telluride. They are completely disregarding the entire situation. Since then, we have had to find another option for transportation since we have been without the Telluride for 6 months. Kia US needs to take back the Telluride and either provide us with a safe/working vehicle or reimburse us for what we have spent on the Telluride. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (
Vehicle began having issues around 60,000 miles. Stutters and slips between 2nd and 3rd gear. When on an incline the issue is much more prevalent. On a steep incline, the vehicle is like lurching it is so prevalent and it feels as though the vehicle is going to give up. Around 45 mph, the vehicle begins vibrating; as speeds increase, the shaking (left to right) becomes increasingly violent. At times, it feels as though the vehicle is going to shake off the road. The issues I primarily when accelerating, and when the gas pedal is released, the shaking slows almost to a stop. Tires, balance, and alignment checked multiple times over the course of the issue and tires are changed seasonally. Took to dealership multiple times to be told there was no issue with the vehicle and it was operating properly. Just over 100k miles, back at the dealership and there is suddenly an issue found. Was told at dealership that passenger side front axle inner race is damaged and needs replaced. Took vehicle to local mechanic since dealership had jerked us around so much over the issues, not repairing, keeping car for extended amounts of time without a loaner vehicle, etc. Local mechanic did a lot of research. This is a common complaint of the Telluride and Kia is aware but is not doing anything about it. Mechanics recreated issue immedately said rear driveshaft had movement it shouldn't and replaced. They also serviced the transfer case and transmission. There is a TSB issued on this, but research suggests that it is not resolving the problems and kia dealerships are not acknowledging the issue until out of warranty and TSB doesn't cover the repairs even though it is faulty manufacturing.
The contact owns a 2020 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V214000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle rolled down from the driveway of his home while his son was in the backseat. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle and was knocked down by the door and the vehicle ran over the contact's foot. The vehicle was stopped by the contact when he engaged the brake pedal, but the vehicle crashed into his neighbor's vehicle. The crash was minor. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact was taken to the local hospital. The contact stated he suffered a contusion in his foot and was diagnosed with a crushed injury by the local hospital and he also stated his son was traumatized from the incident. A police report was not filed. The dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure The failure mileage was approximately 68,213. My 2020 Telly has a random vibration. When it appears it can be felt throughout the vehicle. Just as quickly as it appears it disappears. Mostly felt with acceleration/when changing gears (right after). Also there have been a handful of times I've attempted to go from a stopped position or pulling into traffic and the car just sits there. It does not rev or increase rpm's, it does nothing. Then after about 2 seconds it will just calmly go as if I had just pressed on the gas. This is very scary when it happens while pulling into traffic or attempting to cross over traffic... Because when it does start to go you are now 2 seconds behind where you should be and I was almost hit. Had a similar issue with my Tucson and Hyundai fixed it ASAP.. it was the transmission clutch. Also having an issue with my CV axle/joint/boot. It's leaking but it is not broken or cracked etc. It's just leaking and spitting greas/fluid all over the wheel etc. Trying to find a part for it that is not at the dealer is not easy but the dealer wants 400 just for the boot (not installed). This is ridiculous and price gouging. Check the Kia forum and you will see many people with these same complaints/concerns that need to be addressed BEFORE someone gets hurt. Having your vehicle not go while pulling into traffic is SERIOUS.. fix it Kia! I have 2 shops that have confirmed there's an issue, felt vibration, picture of leak, instead what's up with the transmission AWD but is believed to be driveshaft/transfer case related. 64,440 miles currently. Issues started at 62,261.. also I contacted crown Kia(st. Pete FL) regarding windshield replacement because I have a crack that is growing after repair. I have the letter (customer and dealer regarding cheap glass "Goodwill repair" and they knew nothing about it. I produced the letter and have heard nothing from them. Dealerships hate doing anything that won't bring a dollar. KIA FIX MY ABILITY TO SAFELY GO IN TRAFFIC PLEASE. SAVE LIVES PLEASE NOW THANK YOU
The contact owns a 2020 Kia Telluride. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle started jerking. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle displayed a message "Consider Taking a Break". The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission and both front and rear axles, oil pan gasket, brakes, drive train, and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,826.

Valve cover gasket leak, coolant hose leaks, passenger side axel boot slinging grease, parasitic draw
Passenger front CV axle boot leaking grease causing damage estimated $1000. Seems to be a huge issue for a lot of Kia owners (as parts seem to be on back order now). No rough terrain driving. So if this is an issue driving on Minnesota roads, bad parts by Kia. I lived on a farm where you drove on uneven terrain all the time… never had a vehicle (Ford, Buick) never had this issue
1st winter of owning vehicle. The engine started to Rev with high rmps about 8000, and no power / speed incrase would happen. This was looked at by dealer within first year. This then happened again, dealer looked at it. Third time, the dealer had a code to look at, and the transmission was upgraded with software. We are now a 4th time at the dealer, and the observed reving is happening again, and shifting is not smooth.
This started in July/August. I went in to get into my car and noticed that although my car was making the sound of unlocking, it wasn’t unlocking. Neither the key fob or pressing the button on the door handle would unlock my car. I manually used the key to get in. Once I got in, I had a rear collision warning on my dash and was unable to shift from park. I overrode the shift mechanism and took it to a mechanic. They hooked it up to a reader and was tracking down the error when all of sudden the error code disappeared, and they were unable to progress. I left there and drove to work without issues. Two days later (Saturday) it happened again. I disconnected the negative battery cable and waited a few minutes before I hooked it back up. It was fine for about a month and then it started happening again. This time I tried the battery cable again and it worked for a while, but it started to happen more regularly. I took it to a Kia dealer but they were unable to replicate it. They said if it happens again record it and send a the video. Two days later it happened, and I sent them a video. I took my car back to the dealer and it has been there 11/9. In between visits, it happened, and I overrode the shift mechanism and I noticed my dash lights were almost out as well as the other issues. I believe I know what the issue is. I noticed this only happens when it’s cool in the early morning and then, when the sun comes up, there is an abundance of moisture on the inside windshield. I believe that heavy moisture is shorting out the electronics in my dash. I’ve never had an issue when it rains or midday. It’s probably why this has been so noticeable in the fall early winter. We have lots of mornings in the 30’s and they quickly warm up when the sun comes out. I have read some online forums that talk about the condensation issue with the Kia Telluride. I haven’t found any that talks about the electronic issue however.

I reported a suspected defect on my vehicle 1/26/22. With 44,000 miles, the car began stalling and having difficulty accelerating from a stop at busy intersections. Germain Kia Dealership on Georgesville Rd in Columbus, OH where I purchased the vehicle new has refused to adequately investigate this issue, and has refused to make any repair for the open recall on this vehicle involving taillights and the trailer hitch. Dealership stated it would only make repairs if I bought a $15,000 new engine from them, and they stated that Kia would not honor my manufacturer's warranty, nor would Kia honor my extended warranty sold to me for $2,000 at time of purchase. Dealership was acting as an agent of Kia when taking this action. I filed a complaint to Kia headquarters, but this scheme to defraud was endorsed by Kia through a lack of action. I was assigned case number 14636950 by Kia, but the automaker took no action. My recall item was not repaired, and the suspected defect that involves stalling on my two-year old engine was not addressed at all. My records show 5 oil changes since buying this car, but Kia's Columbus, OH dealership says only oil changes done by their own dealership count. None of my oil changes done by other ASE certified repair facilities will be recognized. Dealership says Kia will not honor any warranty due to lack of maintenance. I can prove vehicle was maintained properly. When I escalated this matter to the dealership sales manager, service manager, and general manager, they took no action. I was denied repair on the recall item, as dealership and Kia tried to trick me into buying a new engine, they breached my warranty and my extended warranty, and they did not investigate the new potential defect involving power train. Please do not allow Kia and its dealers to defraud other customers and keep unsafe cars on the road in this fashion.
Started car in 70 degree weather, heard a ticking noise coming from the hood, put car in reverse then drive, engine light came on (solid, not flashing), took it to get a diagnostic test and results state “Torque converter malfunction”. The car is now shifting hard through gears and shaking while driving.
MY 2020 KIA TELLURIDE HAS HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT IN JUNE OF 2019. IT STARTED OUT SMALL WITH MY BACKUP CAMERA GLITCHING/NOT BEING VISIBLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKERING, AND MY HEAT NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEN, IT QUICKLY ESCALATED TO MULTIPLE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ENGAGING IN MY DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IF THE CODES AREN'T ACTIVE THEY CAN'T SERVICE THE VEHICLE, SO WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN I BROUGHT IT TO THEM DIRECTLY. AT THIS TIME MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT STATED THE CAR LOST COMMUNICATION WITH FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE, INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (LPC), CONTROL MODULE (CCAN),AND HVAC CONTROL MODULE. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS COMPROMISING MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. ON THE 3RD OCCASION, THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED: THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, SHIFTER WOULDN'T WORK, NO LIGHTS NEXT TO SHIFT, WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE, NO BACKUP CAMERA. ON THE 4TH OCCASION, THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED: WARNING LIGHTS/EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON DASH, STEERING LOCKED, NO LIGHTS NEAR SHIFTER, STEERING TIGHT, RPM INDICATOR WENT TO ZERO, SPEED WENT TO ZERO, WARNING LIGHTS SWITCHED ON AN OFF TO DIFFERENT ONES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FLOOR HARNESS, DASH HARNESS, AND ENGINE HARNESS. EVEN AFTER THESE "FIXES" IT CONTINUED. ON THE 5TH OCCASION, THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I LOST MY BRAKES! THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED BEFORE THE SHUT DOWN: FORWARD COLLISION WARNING LIGHT, EMERGENCY LIGHT, RPM INDICATOR UP AND DOWN, ABS WARNING LIGHT, DEGREE/TEMP LIGHT FLICKERING ON AND OFF, PLUS A FEW MORE WARNING LIGHTS. THIS TIME MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. KIA WILL NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK AND DENIED MY CLAIM AFTER SUPPLYING OVER 70 PAGES OF DOCUMENTATION. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF 84 DAYS SINCE OCTOBER 19, 2020.

VIBRATION/HUMMING NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (MOST NOTICEABLE BTWN. 65-75 MPH). CONFIRMED BY 2 DIFFERENT KIA DEALERSHIPS, SUSPECTED TO BE AN ISSUE WITH DRIVE SHAFT OR REAR DIFFERENTIAL.
THE VEHICAL WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES UP TO 6000 RPM WITH NO OR LITTLE ACCELERATION WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE IS DEPRESSED.. THIS ALSO OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS, NO OR LITTLE ACCELERATION WHILE THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES TO 5000 RPM VISIBLE ON THE TACHOMETER AND HEARD FROM THE ENGINE NOISE. THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE SLIPPING OR DOWN SHIFTING TO MANY GEARS FOR THE AMOUNT OF FUEL DEMAND. THE DEALERSHIP WITNESSED THIS PROBLEM DURING A TEST DRIVE AND I SHOWED THEM A VIDIO OF THE SPEEDOMETER VERSUS THE TACH READING WHILE THIS PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS AND KIA STILL HAS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCEDENT ON ONE OCCATION AND A NEAR MISS HEADON COLISSION WHILE DRIVING THRU OREGON AND TRYING TO PASS IN A PASSING LANE, ON A VACATION DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED SINCE DAY ONE OF THE VEHICAL PURCHAS AND HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE OF THE PROBLEM ON 3 OCCASIONS. KIA DEALER SAYS KIA HAS NO KNOWN FIX.

MY TRANSMISSION IS RANDOMLY AND FREQUENTLY SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL, MOSTLY AT LOWER SPEEDS WHILE SHIFTING AFTER A TURN AND INCREASING SPEED. THE RESULT IS THAT I HAVE NO POWER WHILE NAVIGATING IN TRAFFIC AND MUST SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART TO REGAIN POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. ALMOST LIKE A REBOOT OF THE SYSTEM. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN TRAFFIC AND MY FAMILY NO LONGER WANTS TO RIDE IN CAR. I HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO KIA BACK IN JANUARY AND HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. KIA HAD ME PUT A DATA READER IN THE VEHICLE TO CAPTURE THE DATA DURING THE OCCURANCES AND HAVE NO RESOLUTION. THIS IS NOW HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY, EVEN WHEN JUST GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE SEEN ON A TELLURIDE SOCIAL MEDIA SITE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. KIA IS NOT HANDLING THIS SATISFACTORALLY.

VIBRATION BEING FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL, GAS PEDAL AND IN SEAT FROM THE POWER TRAIN FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS RAGING FROM 60MPH TO 80MPH WITH A WITH A HUMMING NOISE BEING HEARD FROM THE INTERIOR AT THE SAME SPEEDS. IT HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2019 AND IT NOW HAS ABOUT 13000 MILES ON.

WHILE ON A 1300 MILE TRIP TO BRANSON MO, I WAS ENTERING AN INTERSTATE ON RAMP WITH MY VEHICLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. MY RPMS REVVED UP AND NO POWER ON DRIVETRAIN. I COASTED TO SHOULD OF INTERSTATE AND PUT IT IN PARK, THEN SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND STILL NO GO. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT THEN WORKED. ALMOST LIKE THE COMPUTER-CONTROLLED AWD FAILED AND NEEDED A REBOOT. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I AM VERY CONCERNED AS THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE THAT HAD 2200 MILES ON IT WHEN IT HAPPENED.
Mileage: 2,200
SINCE NEW, THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED A VIBRATION STARTING AROUND 65 MPH UP TO AROUND 75 MPH. IT IS MILD IN SEVERITY BUT ANNOYING ESPECIALLY WHEN FREQUENTLY DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP NOTED IT BUT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION.

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS AWD VEHICLE, THERE IS A DISTINCT VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VIBRATION STARTS AT 67 MPH AND IS THERE UNTIL SPEEDS EXCEED 75 MPH, WHERE THINGS START TO SMOOTH OUT ONCE AGAIN. THERE IS ALSO AN ODD NOISE INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING IN THIS SPEED RANGE. VIBRATION IS FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL, GAS PEDAL, AND BOTTOM OF SEATS. REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS ALSO FEEL THIS VIBRATION. LOCAL DEALER HAS ROAD FORCE BALANCED THE TIRES, BUT HAS MADE NO IMPROVEMENT. THERE DEFINITELY IS A SERIOUS DRIVETRAIN ISSUE CAUSING THIS VIBRATION. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE TELLURIDE AS A RESULT OF THIS, BUT HONESTLY, DISAPPOINTED IN THE TELLURIDE ALTOGETHER.

PURCHASED 2020 TELLURIDE SX AWD ON JUNE 8TH IN LOUISVILLE. UPON DRIVING IT HOME TO CINCINNATI, I NOTICED INTENSE VIBRATIONS IN THE REAR AREA WHEN THE SPEED WAS BETWEEN 66MPH AND 72MPH. TRY ONE) TOOK IT TO SERVICE IN CINCINNATI AND TRY ONE WAS TO BALANCE WHEELS ' DID NOT HELP. TRY TWO) SERVICE KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND CALLED KIA TECHLINE. THEY SAID TO CHECK OUT OTHER TELLURIDES RIGHT OFF THE DELIVERY TRUCK. FOUND THEY ALSO HAD PROBLEM. KIA TECHLINE CLOSED THE CASE SAYING IT MUST BE NORMAL. TRY THREE) TOOK TELLURIDE TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE DEALER WHO ALSO CALLED KIA TECHLINE AND PRESSED THE CASE THAT THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM ' OWNER IS NOT CRAZY. AFTER 16 DAYS, I AM TOLD THAT I WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER 8TH FOR A DRIVE SHAFT TO COME IN. HERE IS WHAT THEY FOUND: 1) FOUND SLIGHT BEND IN PASSENGER REAR AXLE AND REPLACED IT. DID NO GOOD. 2) DROVE WITHOUT REAR DRIVE SHAFT AND VERIFIED THAT VIBRATION STOPPED. 3) WERE TOLD TO CHECK TRANSFER CASE OIL FOR METAL FILINGS - FOUND WHAT LOOKED LIKE GOLD PAINT FLAKES. KIA WAS INTERESTED, THEN NOT INTERESTED. WAS THIS DAMAGE FROM VIBRATION? 4) TRIED TO GET REAR DRIVE SHAFT BALANCED AND NO ONE AROUND CINCINNATI COULD DO IT. 5) KIA TOLD SERVICE TO REPLACE REAR DRIVE SHAFT. IT WILL ARRIVE AT OR ABOUT OCTOBER 8TH 6) TOLD ME TO PICK UP TELLURIDE AND WAIT FOR PART. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 8TH AND THE PROBLEM WAS THERE RIGHT AWAY. IT WILL BE 4 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE BEFORE THE NEW DRIVE SHAFT WILL BE INSTALLED. ONE THIRD OF A YEAR WASTED IN TRYING TO GET KIA TO FIRST BELIEVE/ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND THEN TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION. I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL EVER BE WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING. I MUST SAY THAT THIS LATEST SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS WORKED HARD TO GET THIS SOLVED. EVERY STEP OF THE WAY THEY MUST DO WHAT KIA SAYS TO DO.

EXPERIENCING VIBRATION/PULSATIONS WHILE DRIVING. MOST NOTICEABLE STARTING AROUND 65 MPH UP TO 73 MPH BUT SEEN TO DIMINISH OR GO AWAY ABOUT 75 MPH. VIBRATION CAN BE FELT ON THE GAS PEDAL, SEAT AND FLOOR BOARD. ALSO, THERE IS AN AUDIBLE HUM SIMILAR TO A OUT OF BALANCE WHEEL OR WHEELS. POSSIBLY DRIVE SHAFT, TRANSFER CASE RELATED, WITH THE AWD.

PURCHASED A BRAND-NEW 2020 KIA TELLURIDE LX, ALL- WHEEL DRIVE. ON THE TEST DRIVE, I COULD NOT GO ABOVE 50MPH, DUE TO THE TRAFFIC IN THE AREA. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE HAD IT ON AN INTERSTATE. I NOTICED BETWEEN AROUND 63 AND 74MPH, A HUM AND VIBRATION. I CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE. PRIOR TO TAKING THE TRUCK IN FOR THE ISSUE, I RESEARCHED THE MATTER. I LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE TELLURIDE, NO MATTER THE TRIM LEVEL. THE HYUNDAI PALLISADE AWD IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. BOTH TRUCKS SHARE THE SAME DRIVETRAIN. IT IS BELIEVED THE VIBRATION US BEING CAUSED BY THE REAR DRIVESHAFT BEING OUT OF BALANCE FROM THE FACTORY. AFTER DROPPING MY TRUCK AT THE DEALER, THEY LATER INFORMED ME, UPON REMOVING THE REAR DRIVESHAFT, THE VIBRATION CEASED. THE TECHNICIAN STILL HEARD NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. UPON CHECKING THE FLUID, THEY FOUND TRACES OF METAL IN IT. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE A MONTH TO GET A NEW TRANSFER CASE. BEING UNACCEPTABLE TO ME, THEY AGREED TO JUST GET ME A SIMILAR TELLURIDE. THE DEALER HAD TWO OTHER TELLURIDE LX AWD AND SAID THEY'D TEST THEM BEFORE I CAME BACK TO TRY ANOTHER. I WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD ONE TELLURIDE WAS FINE AND THE OTHER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS MINE. UPON DRIVING THE ONE THEY SAID WAS GOOD, I FOUND THE VIBRATION WAS TWICE AS BAD AS MINE. I TOLD THE DEALER THIS. THEY WERE TO GET ANOTHER TELLURIDE FROM ANOTHER DEALER. WHEN IT ARRIVED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. WHEN I DROVE THIS PARTICULAR TELLURIDE, I FIRST HEARD THE NOISE I HEARD IN MY TRUCK AND THE SECOND, BUT NO VIBRATION. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, THE VIBRATION APPEARED AT THE SAME SPEEDS AS THE OTHER TWO. IT BECAME WORSE AND THEN OCCURRED AT BOTH A LOWER AND HIGHER SPEED RANGE. THE SALESMAN EXPERIENCED IT AS WELL. OWNER DIDN'T BELIEVE US, NOR THE SERVICE MANAGER. PLEASE SEE HTTPS://TELLURIDEFORUM.ORG/THREADS/VIBRATION.1108/
