The sunroof will not close. The closing mechanism broke.
Several oil housing changes. I’m not the first owner, the oil housing has been changed once already and I’m going to have to do it a second time, the car is only 5 years old. I’ve only owned the vehicle 2 years. The dealership did no diligence to check it, I went to the dealership for years and due to negligence with my oil changes and recalls I stopped going, now I’m having to pay out of pocket for issues they’ve caused. I thought I messed up my car and had a part dragging at the bottom, when I took it in to the dealership they said it was previously not bolted down properly. I had a recall, I was told 3 times my lights were connected and I was “good to go” each time I got in and the car said my lights were not connected. After this I never came back! Not sure if it’s the dealership issue or on the car for my oil housing leak.
The 2020 Kia Telluride has an issue with the metal window trim pieces. It was purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and we have had to have the trim piece replaced at least three times by the Kia Dealer. The piece keep becoming loose and falling off. Some of the pieces on my vehicle have jus fallen off. At interstate speeds of 70 MPH it would be very dangerous. Fortunately, no incident has happened that has hurt anyone, yet. The 2023-2025 models have been recalled for this exact same issue, and it needs to happen for ALL Kia Telluride models including the 2020-2023 models. It is dangerous and Ken Ganley Kia of New Port Richey is no longer assisting with any sort of warranty or repair unless I do the work. I am having to reach out to Kia and open a case number every time and the dealership is no longer being helpful. This is our primary vehicle used for getting children to school, leisure travel, and daily commuting. Attached are three different incidents of the exact same issue happening. 8/24/2025, 8/11/2025, and 11/21/2025. The dealership also repair some when we initially purchased the vehicle. All work orders can be provided via Ken Ganley Kia of New Port Richey.
My son was driving home from work and the vehicle shut off. He got it to come back on and it stopped while he was at a red light and a by standard yelled for him to get out of the vehicle as it caught fire underneath the car from unknown reasons.
Failed windshield Available for inspection Unexpectedly Cracked across full length of windshield Blocking view of road causes glare There is a 2020 model class action suit and many complaints
Oil Pan and gasket leak Oil Control Valve Harness leak The car leaked 5 quarts of oil without any engine or low oil light being illuminated to communicate this engine problem. The dealership identified the above components failed and caused the oil to leak and lead to potential engine damage
The paint on our white Kia started to peel on the roof and then the hood down to metal. The paint has continued to bubble and peel especially after long drives
Sunroof wind deflector broke causing the track for sunroof to be off and sunroof won't close. This is a safety concern for the stability of the sunroof and apparently it is a common problem. Yes the problem was confirmed by the dealer.
My sunroof will not close all the way. I have read different threads and it seems I am not the only person with this make and model having the issue.
Subject: Ongoing Issue with Excessive Oil Consumption – 2020 Kia S V6 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my concern and frustration regarding a recurring issue with my 2020 Kia S V6 related to excessive oil consumption. Despite multiple visits to the dealership and attempted repairs, the issue remains unresolved and continues to affect the safety and reliability of my vehicle. Vehicle Information: Year: 2020 Make: Kia Model: S V6 VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: Approximately 85,808 miles Timeline of Events: September 6, 2024 – Oil change completed at Kia dealership in Easton. No prior issues reported at this time. [XXX] – After about a week of shaking and stuttering during acceleration, the vehicle shut off completely at a stoplight. Upon checking, the oil level was found to be empty. I added 6–7 quarts of oil. No oil warning light appeared on the dashboard at any time. January 14, 2025 – Brought the vehicle to the Easton Kia dealership. Diagnosed with a broken and leaking oil filter housing, which was replaced. Another oil change was completed. [XXX] – After the engine light came on, I checked the oil at 77,021 miles and found it to be low again. I added 1 quart of oil. The engine light was later determined to be due to a loose gas cap. Once again, no oil warning light appeared. [XXX] – At 78,000 miles, I checked the oil, as advised by Kia, to monitor consumption. The oil level was completely empty. I added another 6–7 quarts of oil. No warning light appeared on the dashboard. [XXX] -- Kia for oil change and consumption test at 82,177 miles. Consumption was read after 1,000 miles and I was advised it was good. I was told to come back at 86,075 miles as per Kia recommendation. [XXX] -- A few hundred miles before the deadline, at approx 85,790 miles I checked oil before a trip, it was empty. Again, no warning light came on the dashboard to warn me of low/no oil. Oil consumption, consuming too much oil , need it recalled please it’s too much already
For the past year to year ½ I have brought my car in for concerns with idle, hesitation when accelerating, stalling out, etc. This has put me in compromised situations when in traffic, at stop lights and when trying to accelerate to get on the highway. I was told it was fine, until it was not. Now my engine needs to be replaced. What I discovered in my car was their worksheet on issues that they never shared with me. Identified issues on this report: Fault Code 6, PO300400 - history, cylinder misfire, PO30500 - history, cylinder misfire PO34100 When going back for a 'simple' 1000 mile oil check, I was told there was not enough oil loss to identify concern. When I checked my own oil after another 1000 miles, KIA then pursued. In researching, there is a history of these engine problems and engines needing to be replaced with KIA. This is unacceptable and has compromised safety and any value I hoped to have with my car.
Paint peeling on the roof of vehicle, 5 years old, known problem to KIA. White Pearl Vehicles, KIA will do nothing to remedy this problem. It has been well known of an issue.
Sunroof plastic arms broke off and now sunroof will not close. Looking this up, it is a very common issue. I have only used my sunroof about 10 times since I bought my vehicle.
Sunroof malfunctioned on opening, went off the tracks and is now stuck in an open position. There were no obstructions causing the sunroof to be lifted and dislodged from the tracks. The integrity of the vehicle and its passengers are compromised due to being openly exposed to the elements. Risk of theft, further damage, and injury. Dealership unable to service the vehicle in a timely manner. Problem has been confirmed and inspected by an independent servicer. No warnings or other symptoms.
Wind deflector snapped on Sun roof causing. Sun roof to get lodged and get off track. Unable to close Sun roof now opening it to all types of weather. Safety issue not being able to close the Sun roof while transporting passengers especially children. Kia dealership aware and refusing to help. Wind deflector is a known issue for the 2020 telluride sunroof as found by the NHTSA bulletin on this defective part. Dealership refusing to help since out of warranty even though it is a known issue.
Only owner of a 2020 Kia Telluride SX Prestige that just crossed 60,000 miles. We don't use the sunroof but yesterday 7/30/25 we opened it, the wind deflector arms had broke which caused the sunroof glass to come off the track. Now it won't close at all. This can put my family at risk due to excessive heat in Texas, fumes that should not be getting inside the vehicle and rain water. This has been reproduced and inspected by the Kia dealership. Since I'm over 60,000 miles this is not covered under warranty. No warning lamps or notifications since it's the sunroof. We just wanted to cool down the car quicker by letting the heat out - so totally normal operation that ended up with a sunroof being stuck open. Very frustrating!
Sunroof would not open or close properly. Dealer said arms broken. Need entire new sunroof at over $5000 plus labor! To replace just these small pieces. The glass is out of the track and taped down. It is a dangerous fix. I cannot understand why Kia won’t fix with it being a known malfunction of sunroof mechanism assembly according to TSB. I am out of warranty by 6 months. I contacted Kia and this was their response. Need help please.
Folding outside mirrors get stuck randomly, Back up Camera functions erratically, and worst of all, the Sun Roof jammed open.
On [XXX], my Kia Telluride received a warranty engine replacement at Greenway Kia East in Orlando, FL. Just two days later, on [XXX], the engine overheated while I was driving with my young child. The temperature warning light came on. I stopped immediately and opened the hood — there was no coolant in the system at all. This failure occurred immediately after a major engine replacement, suggesting that the dealer failed to fill or properly check the coolant system. I was left stranded near a daycare and had to call a third-party tow truck because Kia roadside assistance estimated a 90–120 minute wait. This put my child and me in serious danger. Despite the dealer’s clear negligence, I was sent an invoice for $1,833.77, blaming me for the damage. Upon retrieving the car on May 31, 2025, I personally checked under the hood — the coolant level was still below the MIN line. When I pointed this out, the service manager said, “We’re not required to top it off, but if that satisfies you, we’ll put some in.” This is extremely unsafe and irresponsible, especially after a critical repair like an engine replacement. Later, the dealership even claimed to Kia America that the engine was not replaced under warranty, contradicting their earlier confirmation. This kind of conflicting information, combined with unsafe practices and disregard for basic safety protocols, raises serious concerns about consumer safety and the dealership’s integrity. To make matters worse, Kia America closed my case ([XXX]) on June 10 without notifying me or giving me a chance to respond. I received only one dropped call from an unknown number, and no voicemail or follow-up communication. A formal complaint was mailed to Kia America on June 11, 2025, and I am currently waiting for their response. On June 12, 2025, I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I went to open my sunroof and it opened as normal but when I went to shut it, it’s started to make some noises and got stuck tilted open. It will not budge. I can be available for inspection. It’s a huge safety risk because the sunroof is tilted open and anything can fly into the car and hit someone’s head/body. Especially if driving on the highway at high speeds- the damage could be catastrophic. If I’m driving and a storm appears and the rain/hail could get into the car and cause damage as well as distract the driver and potentially cause an accident with other drivers. I took my car into my local dealership and they told me that the entire sunroof system would need to be replaced- no repair available. There were no warning lights/ issues that alerted me to a future problem.
The white paint on our telluride peeled and feel off for not apparent reason.
1) Front sunroof exploded suddenly on highway while driving at 67 mph. Nothing hit the sunroof and there was no prior crack. The sunroof was inspected by our insurance appraiser and I can provide photos of the incident. 2) There was the sound of a loud "boom" followed by shattering glass raining down over my head (driver) and that of my teenage son (passenger seat) causing us to duck inside the car while driving down the highway at 67 mph. We could have swerved into traffic or off the road causing an accident and bodily harm. Additionally, the shattered glass itself could cause bodily injury. In our instance, the sunroof visor was closed, capturing the shards of glass. 3) Yes. The problem was confirmed by an independent service center hired by our insurance company to replace the glass. 4) Yes. The vehicle was inspected by an appraiser from our insurance company. 5) No. There was no warning and no prior symptoms of the problem.
the center infotainment screen has turned green. sometimes a hazy green, othertimes almost a solid green which affects the back up camera system when you are trying to back up and not hit anyone or anything. I have brought to the dealership and they stated the head unit is defective and needs replacement. I elevated to Kia Customer Care and they stated that because it is out of the 36,000 mile warranty they would not help. I even stated that as car is not a newer car was not asking for a brand new unit, but asked if they would at least put in a cheaper re-manufactured unit due to the safety issue and they denied that as well. I am on the kia telluride forum and multiple other people are having this issue. this is a defective part and as it is related to a safety issue needs to be replaced and covered by KIA. While driving on the highway, the sunroof shattered. The sunroof glass exploded outwards not inwards.
The sunroof deflector tabs broke off and jammed the sunroof open. The sunroof is loose and I don’t feel safe driving the vehicle because it may dislodge and become a projectile.

Sunroof window comes off track due to guide anrms breaking and will not close . Dealer says only solution is to replace the whole frame
Sunroof will not close. This is a know issues that Kia is aware of, and they have created performance step for technicians and also created replacement. Consumers are having to pay out of pocket to have issues corrected. Wind deflector has broken and railling system as well. No open recall in the 2020 Kia telluride for this issue. Please view attached youtube video link of this issue. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The car is a 2020 Kia Telluride. It was purchased in August 2023 at the time it was leaking oil took it back to the dealer and they replaced the housing put in a new filter and said all was good .For a year. it constantly needed oil took it back to the dealer, said that everything was fine. I would be driving and the car would stop. The oil lamp would come on and I would have to drive and put more oil in it every week. I was putting a quart of oil into the vehicle just about weekly because it seemed to be leaking oil and just a dying out. just a few days ago after putting a quart of oil in I’m driving my vehicle and all of a sudden Smoke comes out of the back a little bit out of the hood. It just stopped all the lights went on the car went dead. Had to call the police get the vehicle towed to the dealer at that point was told the engine had died. They want to put a new engine in the car Which it’s a five year-old car. It should not need a new engine what is causing it to need a newengine. Ever since I purchased the car, it had oil problems so did the oil lead to engine failure. I know I’m not the only one that this has happened to every time I would take it back to the Kia dealer. I was told everything‘s fine everything was not fine never got any warning lights or signals, except for when I was driving the car would literally sputter and stop at a light. I would have to restart it and then go get oil.
2020 Kia Telluride paint issues. SWP is a known issue. Kia will not take responsibility for a defect in their lamination process. Will come off in sheets almost exposing the primer below. Horrible ownership for their defect.
My vehicle has been repaired multiple times for leaking oil in different areas.
OCTOBER 2024 Before the main incident Oct 2024, I started noticing slight changes in the way my KIA was operating: - Delayed response to accelerate when at a light - Tire sensors/ crash collision sensors - Lane assist pulling my off the road or into on coming traffic (random) - Intermittent Power loss while driving. - Lights not working properly. - High beams failed to operate in Sept and was told by Burlington WA KIA there was not a fix for the recall, while there for service/oil change. - Car going into parking brake when not activated. - When stopped in car is in drive, when starting to accelerate the car went in reverse causing me to hit a stump and partially tearing front bumper off. About a week after that incident I was driving home from store and car started randomly pulling car into oncoming lane. Thankfully there was not a vehicle at that time. Car then started having weird fluctuations with speedometer and dash info. Went from 24.7 miles to gal to 38 and kept jumping, experienced more instances of power loss while in drive. Then all of sudden dashboard went haywire. Whole dash lit up and was switching from different drive modes. I started noticing an electrical burning smell and smoke coming from hood. I pulled over not even a mile from home and started to pull everything important from vehicle. Think the car was on fire under the hood. After several minutes of accessing the situation and smoke dissipated, I decided to try and get car home. As I put car in drive it again went in reverse. I put car in park again and then drive and was able to proceed and limp car home. I parked car and took video of the dash light party and video of putting car in drive and it changing randomly. There still was an electrical burn smell on outside and in cab of vehicle. When my husband arrived home I tried to start vehicle to show him and it wouldn't start. So, he thought maybe the battery fried and took bat in to Napa and bought a new battery.
-Sunroof Wind deflector arm spring broke and when opening sunroof it got stuck and de-railed the entire passenger side arm making it loose and possible having the sunroof detached on high speeds. Sunroof would no longer close with switch -I was going on a trip and driving on highway, had to make a sudden stop to try close it as it was loose on one side of the arms. -Have an appointmnet with dealer, but I am guessing they will not repair as it is out of warranty -no warning lights or messages
Paint peeling from 2020 Kia Telluride. It seems to be a known issue with many Kia Telluride owners experiencing the same paint defects. This is a serious quality issue, I've had many vehicles for 10+ years and never experienced the issues I'm having with this car. The car has under 50000 miles and for it to be peeling like this seems to be a manufacture defect. Kia has refused to fix the issue as they claim its not under warranty.
The sunroof snapped when opening appears the wind deflector had broken in the corners
Paint peeling off car
Sunroof wouldn’t slide back to open, but the back of the sunroof tilted opened. Now it doesn’t close completely and dealership said can’t close it and it would be $4700 to fix.
- Pressed the moonroof button to open and the panel misaligned and will not open or return to closed position. - With the moonroof ajar I'm am unable to drive in enucleate or raining weather - Dealership is backlogged and tells me I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR FOR 3 FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND WAIT ADDITION DAYS FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE AND REPAIR TO BE MADE - No warning messages, sounds or symptoms. First time this has happened and its locked open in misalignment
The driver side and passenger side view mirrors are retractable. Both side view mirrors will get stuck in the closed position which affects the ability to see vehicles on the left or right.
The sunroof became stuck while attempting to open. It would not close and further inspection showed that parts of the sunroof had broken. This seems to be a bigger issue.
Vehicle started on fire and burned up while parked. Fire came from the engine compartment. Unknown from exact location in engine compartment.
Vehicle began having issues around 60,000 miles. Stutters and slips between 2nd and 3rd gear. When on an incline the issue is much more prevalent. On a steep incline, the vehicle is like lurching it is so prevalent and it feels as though the vehicle is going to give up. Around 45 mph, the vehicle begins vibrating; as speeds increase, the shaking (left to right) becomes increasingly violent. At times, it feels as though the vehicle is going to shake off the road. The issues I primarily when accelerating, and when the gas pedal is released, the shaking slows almost to a stop. Tires, balance, and alignment checked multiple times over the course of the issue and tires are changed seasonally. Took to dealership multiple times to be told there was no issue with the vehicle and it was operating properly. Just over 100k miles, back at the dealership and there is suddenly an issue found. Was told at dealership that passenger side front axle inner race is damaged and needs replaced. Took vehicle to local mechanic since dealership had jerked us around so much over the issues, not repairing, keeping car for extended amounts of time without a loaner vehicle, etc. Local mechanic did a lot of research. This is a common complaint of the Telluride and Kia is aware but is not doing anything about it. Mechanics recreated issue immedately said rear driveshaft had movement it shouldn't and replaced. They also serviced the transfer case and transmission. There is a TSB issued on this, but research suggests that it is not resolving the problems and kia dealerships are not acknowledging the issue until out of warranty and TSB doesn't cover the repairs even though it is faulty manufacturing.
The paint on my pearl white 2020 telluride is peeLing off in sheets in the roof. The car has less than 100,000 miles and should not be doing this. Multiple people including the ones in a lawsuit with kia have had this problem and it needs to be addressed!
The wind deflector/bug guard on the sunroof broke and pieces from the broken mechanism proceeded to lodge themselves throughout the track of the sunroof causing the entire track system to break/malfunction. There are several screws that were snapped from the plastic track, which then left the sunroof glass “bouncing” and unsecured on the car. If this was not noticed prior to hitting the highway or driving with any sort of speed I am confident the sunroof would have shattered causing a hazards for myself and children in the vehicle or flown off the car causing a hazard to others on the road. The car is currently at a KIA dealership being looked at, to which they suggested this because it’s becoming more and more “common”. Additionally it is not a cheap fix, quoted just under $4000 for parts and labor. Absolutely no warning lights or indicators stating the sunroof was “open” or malfunctioning. Even once it was no longer attached to the track/bracket system it was not triggering the light indicating it was open like it does normally and with all other doors/windows.
The back self-leveling shock absorbers have failed. Even the slightest bump has my back passengers in danger of hitting their heads. In reading various forums, this is a problem with the 2020 Tellurides with the tow package.
My 2020 Kia has peeling paint. I looked online and see that it's a big issue and theres even a class action lawsuit. Sites said to file a complaint here to document it. In 2022, the paint started peeling near my sunroof. I didn't do anything about it since it was a small area. It has now continued peeling to the point that I started looking at warranty information since it's obviously an issue with the paint...it peels off like nail polish. The warranty ended at 36,000 miles and I now have 50,000. The issue first started when I had 33,000 miles.
Unknown- my 2020 Telluride doesn’t even have 60,000 miles on it. I have only used the sunroof a handful of times and realized it won’t open all the way when I tried it. Realized there’s a metal piece that’s connected with plastic that has snapped off. After searching about it, I’ve seen so many people comp about this same issue and how expensive it is to fix. Why hasn’t there been a recall on this if so many are having the same issue?
Windshield replacement 2 times in three years and about to have it replaced again six months after replacing it. It seems little thing that hit the windshield will crack it. I asked KIA if they had complaints about windshields problems and was told no. I getting expensive replacing it every six months or ever year. I believe it cheaply made and the won’t admit it.
While driving the vehicle I opened the sunroof. The sunroof appeared to be stuck with a metal object attached to the wind reflector popped off and came inside the vehicle. Had it been closer to my face it could have caused grave danger, if it had struck my eyes. The piece appears to have attached to the wind reflector and frame of sunroof.
2020 Kia Telluride Snow White Pearl paint chipping on top of windshield exposing primer. Known issue regarding Kia and white paint colors.
Sunroof went off track and will not close. Took it to the dealership and it will need a totally new sunroof assembly totaling $5,000 because the sunroof got off track on its own.
There is no incident but there has been an interim recall notice on my car since February. This is the recall number 24V148. I rent this car out as part of my business and this recall is blocking me from being able to rent it out since February (6 months). Please get this resolved.
The window on the driver side and co-pilot behind the driver side have gotten stuck. Last time I was at a car wash and the rear co-pilot window did not go up and the inside of my car got wet.
Sunroof original from KIA. Track has broken and it had no out of ordinary use. I can understand seals, but the track of the sunroof should exceed any other issue.
The A/C system failed due to either corrosion or leaking at a fitting(Dealer has told us two different things). This is a 2020 car with a little over 100k miles, there is no reason for a failure due to corrosion or due to a leaking fitting. This is poor assembly, faulty factory parts, or faulty design. The Coolant used (1234yf) is flammable and could pose a safety hazard when it leaks. Photo attached that dealer provided for leak location.
Vehicle's paint located on the front of the hood and top of roof close to the front windshield has started to delaminate and peel away. The dealer said the vehicle is out of warranty for paint concerns. I know this is a large problem from Kia/Hyundia white vehicles. My son's 2015 Sonata, daughter's 2012 Sorento and now my wife's 2020 Telluride! All thease vehicles are white and all are peel or have been peeling for some time. I just want to get my wife's Telluride repaint to be paid for by Kia since they know this is a know problems and have fixed others.
On Tuesday, May 14th, the sunroof on my 2020 Kia Telluride broke and is now stuck in the open position. Despite forums indicating that this is a common issue with this vehicle, Kia refuses to cover the repair. This is the first time I've purchased a new vehicle and faced a major repair before paying it off. The sunroof problem is clearly an issue with Kia, yet they are not offering any assistance for this $3,500 repair on a car that is less than five years old with minimal sunroof use. I believe a recall is warranted, and customers should not have to bear the cost of this failure. It's disappointing that Kia is living up to a negative reputation that I thought they were trying to move away from. If I have to pay for this major repair, which is due to a flaw and not my usage, this will be my first and last Kia purchase.
Our sunroof which hasn’t been used much at all malfunctioned due to the tracking so they say and no it will not properly work or close all the way. This wasn’t covered under the extended warranty I purchased and we were under the 60k warranty when we reported the incident and then only over by 74 miles to which they wouldn’t cover the repair and said it would cost around $4,000.
White Pearl Paint peeling which I paid extra for to get this paint color / type.
The torque converter is malfunctioning to where I have been unable to use my vehicle for almost 2 months. It is available for inspection, but is currently at a repair shop pending inspection to get an estimate on costs to fix the issue (if it is something that can be fixed). My safety along with my family's safety were put at risk due to the inability for the vehicle to pick up speed while driving on major highways [XXX]. During this time the check engine light came on for the 1st time, the vehicle would not properly pick up speed, continuously makes a whining noise when vehicle is on whether it's being driven or not and it shakes at various speeds. A diagnostic was completed and the code listed was for the torque converter. Since that time (1st week of February), I have not been able to drive the vehicle. This is the only vehicle in my household. I am still having to make payments on it and cannot use it. KIA has had a recall in the past issued in June 2020 for a specific timeframe of vehicles produced between May 18, 2020 - May 20, 2020 for the "Automatic transmission/Torque Converter Assembly Replacement". With this recall, KIA only listed 19 VIN's to associate this major issue with. The recall also stated to complete this action prior to the sale of the vehicle to prevent customer complaints. My car was manufactured in June 2019 and I purchased it mid year 2020. If KIA has sold thousands of Tellurides since that time, how can only 19 be affected? I have attached a copy of the previous recall. Once I receive an estimate, I can also forward it. I also have copies of every/all maintenance completed since getting this vehicle to show everything has been completed on time & by a KIA dealership in my area (it doesn't let me upload this file). There have been several times over the last couple of months when my car brakes on its own. I have not had any "extra" features on such as cruise control or lane assist. I have been driving 70 mph on the highway, my car suddenly brakes, and then I am unable to accelerate. It is absolutely terrifying. We called our nearest Kia dealership after the second time and they told us to get a car wash and since it hasn't been consistently happening, they wouldn't be able to re-create it or fix it. We have been going out of our way to keep the front sensor, and it still happens. I worry that I will be driving on the highway (again) when this happens, and the semi truck behind me won't have time to adjust to my sudden, and unwanted, deceleration.
The pearl white paint on my car started chipping off about a year ago. This morning the roof started peeling heavily. This is ridiculous as the car is just now 4 years old. I’ve never had a car peel ever. The forward collision sensor randomly comes on and says it’s not working. Please fix these issues.
Oil leaking from the oil filter housing suddenly. Most of the leaking happens after a cold start. As engine warms the leaking is less noticable. Mechanic found the back of the housing covered in oil but not the drain plug or the oil pan. No prior leaks until [XXX]. Finding that the part is on backorder with no date. HEADLIGHTS: have DEPLORABLE visibility, particularly around corners making it nearly impossible to see at night. It is GROSSLY DANGEROUS, and unacceptable to equip a vehicle with such low quality headlights. However, On January 13th 2024 the hi beams ceased to function at all, which has left me unable to drive at night. As a single mother this is a huge hinderance for my young sons and their activities especially this time of year getting dark at 4:30pm. DRIVER SEATBELT MALFUNCTION: The seatbelt has all but completely failed to retract upon removal, leaving the entire thing loose causing to twist and get caught in the door. It will not retract upon collision which also is a PRIORITY SAFETY CONCERN. DRIVER SIDE MIRROR: Gets stuck in the folded position, and more times than not, I then have to manually unfold it. This causes the saved position for my optimal rear visibility to get comprised and I then have to adjust while driving which is ALSO dangerous. The dealer has addressed this and said the wiring was loose to the mirror inside the driver door and assured me they fixed it, however is STILL getting stuck 90 percent of the time.
I have a fairly brand new 2020 Kia Telluride with only about 50,000 miles on it and one day out of no where the car won't start and now I'm getting a check ESC message. Since it's fairly new I had it jump started and the car quickly turned on and ran fine for the rest of the day. The following day the car hesitated when turning on but it started. I was driving and when I got to a light and when the light turned green and went to take off the car wouldn't go. It turned off again and would start back up. I went into the KIA forum and noticed that a lot of Kia Telluride owners are experiencing this same issue but all seem to have different resolutions from needing a new battery, or a new starter or that the IBU system is blown. This is very frustrating because I don't necessarily know where I need to begin and I don't want to have waste my money with trying to figure out exactly what is going on with my car.
The high beam on my headlights are not working. As I switch back and forth you can't see a brightness. There is no notification of false beam or anything. Have not used the high beam often. Just notice this issue.
My vehicle is 3 years old and the frame of my sunroof snapped. The warranty only covers the motor and the frame is what is damaged. When I called the warranty, they said this is a very common problem among Kia Tellurides. Why is this not a recall? It would cost me $4,000 to repair. This is not right.
While driving at highway speeds (above 50mph,) the Telluride’s front windows (driver and passenger) will not roll up. It seems that the The pressure that builds up in the cabin is pulling the glass out too far and when the window tries to make the seal, it’s out of place and rolls back down. There is a temporary fix to either roll down the back seat window or the sunroof to equalize the pressure, then the front window will go up - but that took a lot of trial and error. I figured it must be a safety issue since when it happens, I am talking my concentration off of driving and trying to figure out how to get the window back up. I’ve since been on forums and Kia owner pages where I’ve read of many people running into the same issues.
The Wind deflector broke on one side. My sunroof won’t close. It is causing water damage and the amount to fix it over 1k. After research this problem has been reported numerous times but no recall yet. Please recall this safety feature in the telluride.
My mother noticed a fluid stain on the driveway and said it looked like oil. We didn't notice it at first because we parked over it. I had my husband take a look; it was oil, and our oil was low but not low enough that the check engine light came on. It started after our first freeze in Dallas, Texas, on October 31st. My husband took it up to a local guy because he thought maybe the dealership people did something when I took it up to get an estimate for the headlight high beam issue and frozen spare tire hoist. Both were covered under warranty BTW. The guy said it was the gasket to the oil pan. I took it to the dealership when the parts came in to fix the other issues, and they said the oil filter housing was cracked. It is made of plastic, which is really dumb. I went online and discovered this happens quite a bit right after a freeze, and it is often blamed on the customer or whoever did the last oil change. Our last oil change was on 9/21/23, over a month before the first freeze, and we had no oil leak before that. From what I have read, this usually occurs with less mileage the farther north you are. We bought our Telluride in Houston which is why I believe it has not occurred yet. I feel KIA should do a recall for Tellurides that are having this issue.
Paint is peeling off the car. Car is 3.5 years old. Kia refuses to take issue with the car. They are standing behind mileage. I first reported this KIA of North America at 40K+ miles..
Went to open the sunroof and the track mechanism cracked. Now it is stuff half open, off the track and dangerous to drive with. It is unable to open/close anymore than it is now. Looking online I see 20+ complaints in two different Kia Telluride forums about the same issue, with no apparent reason.
High beam lights do not work. It shows them on but they never turn on. We found out driving on a mountain road in NM that had no street lights. We had to slow down to 10 miles an hour because it was so dark and we couldn't see. It was scary and dangerous. We wouldn't have been able to react in time if a deer or other animal ran into the street. We looked it up and saw it was a known problem. We checked it numerous times, and it never worked. The driver's side window won't close all the way. It has a 1/2 in gap. The only way to get it to stay closed when we are not in the car is to hold the window lever up, turn off the car, and open the door. However, as soon as you start the vehicle, it drops down again. It also doesn't open all the way when you click the down level. It stops about a 1/2 inch left showing. This causes a lot of road noise that is very distracting and makes the safety features difficult to hear. The wire that holds and lowers the spare tire down won't go back up. We had to remove it because it would drag on the ground. We are unable to carry the spare, so we are at risk if we have a flat. We have not had any of these issues evaluated by the dealership. However, we do plan to.
2020 Kia Telluride 70,000 miles. Sunroof/moonroof off track and cannot close. Kia refuses to cover under warrantee despite car being only three years old. Both social media and NHTSA have multiple complains from other kia Telluride owners of identical issue.
Had my seven year old Granddaughter in my vehicle and was momentarily distracted and the traffic in front of me stopped for geese crossing. I was in cruise control and my forward collision warning system failed to work! No accident as I took the ditch. KIA America Inc. had a voluntary recall for this problem and I took it in to my dealer and they reprogrammed the system. Did not work so I called KIA to see when there would be a recall? They told me to take my vehicle to a different dealer? As this is a safety issue I am concerned and even though they acknowledged it is a problem they seem to not want to do anything!
The car will NOT start with a ESC warranty
Both of the high beams have gone out. I had the issue diagnosed at KIA Richmond as a solenoid defect. Invoice attached. As you are aware, this is not an anomaly for KIA …. Other has the same problem. An expensive fix snd unsafe driving. I have reported this to 3 KIA dealerships and all claim ignorance as to any awareness of a problem. I have also reported to the BBB. I have been out of the count for the lady 4+ months so that is ehyI did not report earlier. I lv again June1 and will not return til November 7.
I noticed paint delamination and chipping on my 2020 Kia telluride with pearl white paint. Upon further research, all other Kias with this color are having the same issue. Vin-[XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Side view mirror motor is defective (30,000 miles, well cared for). Dealer service department needs to get clearance for repair and do not know when the mirror motor parts will be in. In the meantime, the driver's side mirror cannot be manually adjusted into proper position. This makes left lane changes very risky. Several others owners have also had this issue.
High beams stopped working. When I called with issue the dealership stated that it was a safety issue. Took car to dealership and they stated that the actuator lighting system more than likely has a short. They recommended that it would be $1700 for them to replace the system and then retest to see if that was the issue. Upon further research it was found that other owners with the 2020 model were experiencing the same issue after 60,000 miles.
The all wheel drive and antilock break are not working. Also, the dashboard has no indicator lights on and the diagnostic app says nothing is wrong. So the computer system has failed too. This is an all wheel drive KIA Telluride with less than 15,000 miles. It all started this snow season, when there is the least bit of snow or ice we have no control of the vehicle. Our 2 wheel drive Prius handles better. This resulted in my wife losing control on a roundabout and hitting the curb, which in turn damaged the a TIE rod and alignment. We were lucky she was driving in our neighborhood, just 1/2 a mile from our house and was driving slowly. The vehicle is no longer safe to drive. It is currently being serviced at a Kia dealership. At this point the service provider says there's nothing wrong with the AWD and the antilock breaks because the computer's is telling them it's fine. Service person is blaming it on the ice however at the time of the incident there was snow and slush. I and my oldest son have also driven it recently and noticed the same issues as my wife when driving in snow. We didn't take it in because the app says the car is fine. Initially thought maybe we had accidentally pushed a button that deactivated AWD, but further reading indicated AWD is always on. The initial plan was to address the way it felt driving it in snow at next oil change (which was due in about 100 miles) but we trusted the computer system.
My car has heated/air conditioned seats. They have started coming on by themselves. My passenger side mirror opens and closes when it wants to. The the auto off works when it wants to. I have the option of turning that feature off but it will turn off anyways. I can also hear my air condition loud and clear when I turn my car off (decompressing I am guessing) it just started when all these other problems started.
At a little over 63000+ mileage my vehicle's alternator have gone bad and now sitting in the shop for repairs that are not cover by my warranty because it was a little ove 60000 mileage. On the day my alternator gave in, I was on the freeway and all my hazards lights were lit. The steering wheel stiffen and it was hard to drive, I try to pull over and the vehicle went dead in mid freeway. All blinkers and lights were no longer working too so I was in the mid of a freeway at night in the dark. For all i know someone couldve side swipe me or crashed into me with the sudden power loss. I've only have this supposedly new car off the lot for 3 years with only 63k mileage and the alternator is bad already and drained my whole battery.
Windshield glass instant webbing and cracking
I’ve owned over 10 vehicles and had glass chipped from rocks or hail and understand that happens. My Kia Telluride simply with no vehicles around on a paved road driving 55 miles an hour just cracked like it had been hit by a bullet and then proceeded to spread over 6” from the time the crack happen until I got it into my garage 5 miles down the road. The weather outside was 56 degrees according to vehicle and no rain or abnormal driving conditions. I have seen in numerous forums this is a common problem with the 2020 Kia Telluride. This should be a recall issue.
this has happened to my wife about 5 times and to me approximately 8 times. my wife will no longer drive the car because she feels it is not safe. i purchased the car new and it has about 7500 miles on it. when trying to accelerate from a stop and usually turning left, car will start to move and then fails to accelerate for approximately 3-5 seconds. very dangerous if there is oncoming traffic and you are turning in front of them. i have researched this issue on the web and i am not the only person with this issue. so far kia dealer cannot duplicate issue so there is no fix. currently dealer has the vehicle and i have a loaner vehicle.
The car was on cruise control at 70mph but cruising behind another car at 65 when suddenly the car started approaching the car in front of us at high speed.
This is the third time something has impacted our windshield and caused it to crack. Our windshield has been replaced twice and will need to be replaced again. Both replacements were Kia windshields.
My windshield was hit by a tiny rock and had a small pit. The next day when I went to my car, there was a crack across 1/2 of my windshield. The spot the rock hit did not even star crack. This is a safety issue for the window to crack that sat.
AC Condenser failed at 13,500 miles
AC Condenser failed after 13,500 miles
Collision warning system failed. Barnett Kia St Paul MN said two weeks to get an appointment for. Safety issue?
While driving my suv on the highway the day I purchased it on 6/5/20 it disabled 5 times where I was only able to use brakes and pull off side of road. I was 36 weeks pregnant and had my 2 year old in the car. I didn’t make it home. There was highway construction locally and no edge to pull off on if needed. We could of been seriously injured or died. It was towed to my local Kia dealer where they didn’t find anything wrong with it. They replaced the battery. It seemed to be running ok then on 5/5/21 my suv disabled again only being able to use the brakes and pull over while driving it on a hilly, narrow backroad with someone driving behind me with my 10 month old in the car. Every time this has happened the suv loses all power and needs to be placed in park to be restarted. The Kia dealer has had my suv for over a week and cannot find anything wrong with it. They reached out to the Kia tech line who says they’ve done all the right testing and there is nothing else to do. The Kia dealer believes it has an electrical problem that they have not been able to reproduce. There are no warnings before the suv completely disables. This problem could cause serious injury or death. The dealer is telling me my suv is ready to be picked up. I refuse to take my suv back from the dealership. I’ve started Iowa lemon law papers 5/6/21 and I’m waiting for the Kia manufacturer to receive them certified mail.
IF THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (ABOVE 50MPH,) THEY CANNOT ROLL BACK UP COMPLETELY. IT SEEMS THAT THE PRESSURE OF THE SPEED STOPS THEM FROM COMPLETELY CLOSING. IN ORDER TO ROLL THEM BACK UP I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 35 MPH. I'VE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON KIA OWNERS FORUMS.

I WOKE UP TODAY TO AN ODD SHAPED CIRCULAR CRACK AND SUBSEQUENT SPIDERING OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD OF MY TELLURIDE. THE CRACK IS QUITE LOW NEARLY UNDER THE TOP OF THE HOOD AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENED. AFTER REVIEWING ARTICLES I DISCOVERED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST KIA FOR DEFECTS TO THE WINDSHIELD SO I THOUGHT IT BEST TO REPORT IT. THE CRACK WAS NOT THERE WHEN I LAST DROVE IT 3/26.

ABOUT A WEEK AGO, MY WIFE DROVE OUT TO GO SHOPPING BUT RETURNED WITHIN 5 MINS DUE TO A LOW PRESSURE TIRE WARNING. THE TIRE WAS VERY LOW AND SHE PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. I REMOVED THE JACK (WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN USED PREVIOUSLY) AND STARTED TO JACK UP THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE FLAT WAS. I WAS SHOWING THE NOTCHES FOR POSITIONING THE JACK TO MY WIFE AND SHOWING HER HOW TO PROPERLY JACK UP A VEHICLE. BEAR IN MIND, I HAVE ROTATED MY TIRES AND DONE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ON MY CARS/SUVS, VANS FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I HAD THE JACK STRAIGHT UP IN THE CORRECT POSITION AND ON A PERFECTLY FLAT GARAGE FLOOR AND STARTED TO JACK THE CAR UP. BY THIS TIME THE TIRE HAD DEFLATED TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT IT HAD ABOUT AN INCH OR TWO FROM THE RIM TOUCHING THE GROUND. I HAD JUST GOTTEN THE VEHICLE UP TO NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT WHEN THE JACK COLLAPSED SUDDENLY AND THE CAR CAME DOWN. I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT AND AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WASN'T IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO TAKE THE WHEEL OFF. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE JACK AND THERE IS A BOW TO THE THREADED ROD BUT OTHERWISE YOU CAN'T SEE VERY MUCH FROM THE PICTURE. WHEN YOU TURN THE JACK, YOU CAN EASILY SEE A SIGNIFICANT WOBBLE IN THE WINDING ACTION. I CAN'T IMAGE HAVING TO TRY AND JACK UP A VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN LESS THAN IDEAL CIRCUMSTANCES THAT I HAD IN MY GARAGE. SCARY TO SAY THE LEAST.
FRONT COLLISION WARNING MALFUNCTION. WHEN A VEHICLE TO MY LEFT AND IN FRONT OF ME BRAKES, MY VEHICLE THINKS IT'S IN FRONT OF ME AND AUTOMATICALLY BRAKES WITH WARNINGS ON THE WINDSHIELD DISPLAY. VERY DANGEROUS TO THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES. TWICE THEY RECALIBRATED THE SENSORS AND ON THE LAST VISIT, THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR. IT'S STILL HAPPENING SO I NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN. I'VE SEARCHED THIS ONLINE IN FORUM AND YOUTUBE, AND IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME KIA ISN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.

ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE, MY WINDSHIELD CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I NOTICED A SMALL LINEAR CRACK ALONG THE CENTER BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD AFTER IT BEING PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. WITHIN HOURS THE CRACK SPREAD ALONG THE ENTIRE GLASS. KIA REPAIRED IT UNDER THE GOOD FAITH WARRANTY BUT I HAD TO WAIT 3-4 WEEKS FOR A WINDSHIELD TO COME IN, HAVING TO DRIVE IT LIKE THAT IN THE MEANTIME. AFTER THEY REMOVED THE WINDSHIELD AND INSPECTED IT, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY KIND OF IMPACT MARK. ONE MONTH AFTER REPAIR, A VERY SMALL PIECE OF DEBRIS HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I WAS DRIVING (APRX 40-45 MPH) AND CAUSED A SMALL CIRCULAR CHIP THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CURED WITH RESIN TO PREVENT IT FROM SPREADING. HOWEVER, WITHIN 15 MINUTES THE CHIP CONTINUED AND SPREAD IN 3 LINEAR CRACKS. BY THE NEXT DAY THE CRACK RAN ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD AND NOW THE WINDSHIELD HAS TO BE REPLACED, AGAIN. ASIDE FROM IT BEING ANNOYING AND COSTLY TO FIX, I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE FEELING LIKE THE WINDSHIELD COULD COMPLETELY BREAK ON ME WHILE I'M DRIVING.

THE EXHAUST PIPE END BY THE REAR BUMPER IS CAUSING BURNS ON MY HUSBAND AND TWO OUT OF THREE OF MY CHILDREN. IT IS NOT PUSHED BACK ENOUGH SO WHEN THE TRUNK IT OPENED AFTER DRIVING AND WE GO TO REMOVE ITEMS FROM CAR IT LEAVES BURNS. THE DESIGN NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AND A RECALL WOULD BE EXPECTED AS I HAVE FOUND WHILE DOING RESEARCH MANY TELLURIDE OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE AND IT IS NOT SAFE.

DRIVING DOWN 294 SOUTH (A HIGHWAY), AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH, WITH NO OTHER VEHICLE AROUND OUR VEHICLE AND NOT GOING UNDER AN OVERPASS, THERE WAS A VERY LOUD BANG. MY 2 KIDS WERE IN THE MIDDLE TWO SEATS AND STARTED SCREAMING AND CRYING BECAUSE OF THE LOUD NOISE AND ALSO BECAUSE GLASS WAS FALLING ON THEM. THE LOUD BANG TURNED OUT TO BE THE PANORAMIC MOONROOF EXPLODING ON ITS OWN. NOTHING HIT THE CAR OR THE ROOF AS THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND US. WE QUICKLY CLOSED THE COVER TO THE MOONROOF SO MORE GLASS WOULDN'T FALL ON THE KIDS. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE THE MOONROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD AND NOT INWARD AS IF SOMETHING HIT IT. THE PANORAMIC MOONROOF DOESN'T OPEN. *TR

ON THE 19TH OF FEBRUARY, 2020 AT APPROX. 11:00AM, I WAS HEADING EAST BOUND ON I-44 NEAR FT LEONARD WOOD, MO WHEN MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED. I HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 72MPH. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN MY GENERAL AREA. ALL WINDOWS WERE ROLLED AS WELL AS THE SUNROOF BEING CLOSED, WITH THE INSIDE SUN SHADE BEING IN THE CLOSED POSITION. INSIDE TEMP WAS SET AT 72 DEGREES WITH THE FAN SETTING ON THE THIRD SETTING. I AM UNSURE OF THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE BUT IT WAS ABOVE FREEZING. MY LOCAL KIA DEALER, ROPER KIA OF JOPLIN, MO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THURSDAY MORNING AT 8AM, AFTER THEIR INSPECTION THEY CONTACTED THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER WHO AUTHORIZED THE SUNROOF TO BE REPLACED UNDER GOODWILL WARRANTY AT NO COST TO MYSELF.

TELLURIDE RECENTLY PURCHASED NOVEMBER 2019. LAST WEEK MY WINDSHIELD HAD A TINY CHIP AND WITHIN 1 1/2 HOURS OF ME COMING OUT OF A MEETING THE TINY CHIP HAD EXPANDED ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. TWO DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING AND A SMALL PEBBLE (?) HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND AGAIN CHIPPED THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF MY WINDSHIELD. THAT CHIP HAS NOT SPREAD AS BADLY AS THE FIRS. I WAS GLAD TO SEE THE LETTER FROM KIA IN MY MAILBOX THIS WEEK. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIR. HOPEFULLY REPLACING WINDSHIELD WILL AVOID FUTURE ISSUES.

THE KIA HAS A SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS CRUISE CONTROL IN A SPECIAL WAY. THIS SYSTEM ALLOWS YOU TO PLACE THE CAR IT THIS MODE AND WHAT IT DOES BEYOND CRUISE CONTROL LANE CHANGE CONTROL. IT DETECTS THE HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT SIGNS EXAMPLE: I DRIVE FROM PRESCOTT AZ TO PHOENIX PERIODICALLY. THE SPEED LIMIT ON I -17 IS 75 MPH FOR MOST THE TRIP HEADING SOUTH ON I17 IT IS 75 MPH AT SUNSET POINT THE SPEED CHANGES FROM 75 MPH TO 65 MPH. THE CAR CHANGES SPEED TO 65 MPH. IT CHANGES BACK TO 75 MPH LATER EXCITING TIMES PASSING THROUGH ROCK SPRINGS. I AM DOING AT 75 MPH ( NO ONE IS IN FRONT OF ME THEY ARE IN BACK AND ONE TO THE LEFT SIDE. ). THE CAR SPEED DROPS TO 45 MPH. THE FREEWAY SPEED IS 75 MPH. HOWEVER, THE SIDE ROAD IN ROCK SPRINGS IS 45 MPH. SO NOW I HAVE 4 CARS TRYING TO AVOID ME BECAUSE I SUDDENLY GOING 45 MPH IN A 75 MPH ZONE. APPROACHING ANTHEM - THE CAR SUDDENLY DROPS TO 35 MPH IN A 75 MPH ZONE. NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. BUT THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE SIDE ROAD NEXT TO THE FREEWAY IS 35 MPH. NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE CARS AROUND ME HONKING AND AVOIDING ME - BECAUSE I AM DRIVING 35 MPH IN A 75 MPH FREEWAY SPEED ZONE. THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE DEALER JUST SAYS IT IS AN OPTION.

I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ON A LOW VOLUME COUNTY ROAD. I WAS MOVING BACKWARDS AND ENTERED THE ROADWAY. I WAS FULLY ACROSS ONE LANE WHEN A VEHICLE IN THE OPPOSITE LANE APPROACHED. AS I WAS CONTINUING BACKWARDS CUTTING THE WHEEL TO MANEUVER INTO THE NEARSIDE LANE, THE AUTO BRAKING ENGAGED AND MY VEHICLE WAS DISABLED IN THE ROADWAY FOR TWO OR THREE SECONDS UNTIL THE APPROACHING VEHICLE IN THE OPPOSITE FARSIDE LANE PASSED MY NOW DISABLED VEHICLE IN THE ROADWAY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THERE WAS A VEHICLE APPROACHING IN THE NEARSIDE LANE THAT I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER AND NOW I WAS DISABLED IN THE ROADWAY AS THAT CAR APPROACHED. MY ISSUE IS THAT THE APPROACHING VEHICLE IN THE FARSIDE LANE HAD ROOM TO MANEUVER AROUND ME, BUT I WAS NOW DIRECTLY IN THE LINE OF DANGER FROM THE VEHICLE APPROACHING IN THE NEARSIDE LANE I WAS NOW DISABLED IN. IT SCARED ME TO BE DISABLED IN THE ROAD WITH A VEHICLE APPROACHING. THE BRAKES REMAINED ENGAGED AND I COULDN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL MY VEHICLE RELEASED THE BRAKES. I WAS IN GREATER DANGER FROM BEING HIT BY THE CAR APPROACHING IN THE NEARSIDE LANE THAN I WAS ENTERING THAN THE VEHICLE IN THE OPPOSITE FARSIDE LANE. THE COMPUTER IN MY VEHICLE WAS WRONG IN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND FORCED ME INTO A DANGEROUS POSITION. THE PROGRAMMING FOR REAR ASSIST BRAKING NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THE ONE THAT I WAS IN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE BEEN PUT IN THAT SITUATION BY MY VEHICLE AND I THINK THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE PROGRAMMING FOR LOW SPEED BACKING CONDITIONS.
