Sun roof opened and will not close. Wind detector became stuck causing window not to close
Track for sunroof broke and will not properly open or close. I was able to close it back but will not touch until the part can be repaired/replaced.
Windshield cracked all the way across from a tiny rock. So small that I didn’t even see it when it happened.
The vehicle had approx 10k miles and I simply tried to open the sunroof before leaving my driveway and something snapped. The Sunroof was then stuck in the open position, I could not close it. I called my regular dealership for help as it was under warranty and practically new. The dealership said they are too busy to help me, I have no garage and there was rain in the forecast. I called other dealerships and was able to find one who would take it in for a look. I was told it might take a few days and left the car. After a few days the dealership said they needed to order parts, that the entire sunroof track has to be replaced and it may take weeks. They were able to close the roof and I picked up the car, I had to take it back as wind was coming in as I drove and rain can too. I returned for repairs and issues approx 5 times until it was "repaired". I have not opened the sunroof again since, for fear of additional problems and no longer under warranty as many other Kia Telluride owners who have this issue with the sunroof. Being away from home and it breaking again would be a disaster and having to drive from a secluded area with unpredictable weather can be dangerous.
Came outside and windshield had spontaneously cracked. No chip. No spider web. The windshield had just had several huge cracks in the middle of the windshield in front of the driver. The glass just fractured. Spontaneously. In my driveway. Not sure if due to temperature -- i had driven for an hour with the AC keeping the car comfortable at 70 degrees and parked, in my driveway, in the sun, and yes, it is 98 degrees outside. But whatever the reason, windshield just cracked! KIA dis-owning the problem. Despite many people here complaining of same problem.
There was no visible crack or i dictation there was damage or an issue with the windshield and all of the sudden there is a 2 foot long crack going from the middle to the driver side of the windshield causing it to have to be replaced vs. if there was a chip indication I could just have that repaired. I am the only driver and never heard anything that would cause the crack
Sunroof spontaneously shattered.
The front wiper blades get stuck when in use. This most often occurs when they are at their upper most point, but happens in a lower position as well. I had a previous issue where the left blade components had to be replaced because of stripped nuts/gears. This does not appear to be the same issue. I’ve taken it to the dealer and to another mechanic, neither of who could recreate the problem. This is quite dangerous as it impedes my visibility while driving in precipitation. The other issue is with buttons on the steering column that either do not work or miscommunication. This has been repaired/replaced but with the same issue.
As I was driving down the interstate heading to a doctor’s appointment the unexpected happened with my Kia Telluride. My Telluride is a 2021 and only had roughly 37,000 miles on it, and I believe it is important to notate that I’ve never had any issues with this car since purchasing it. However, on this particular day, as I was driving down the interstate the entire window located on the drivers side at the rear back seat shattered. I thought someone may have hit me but as I pulled over there was no evidence of any damage besides the window shattering. There was no sign of rocks, material, or anything that would have caused the shatter. I called the police prior to examining the vehicle who stated that the window appeared to have shattered at its own discretion and therefore they could not file a police report. I did however pay to have the window replaced, and pay to have glass removed from every inch of my car as the glass shattered everywhere. The biggest concern was that the chunks of glass/shatters were mostly in my one year old daughters car seat. The police stated that if she was in her car seat at the time of the window “explosion” she would have been severely injured or even possibly death due to the large amount of glass. As a driver of the vehicle, I myself had pieces of glass fly into my arms while I was driving, but I thank God my Duaghter was not in the car with me that day. Not only is this harmful to the driver or passengers but also harmful to other drivers as it could have caused an accident. I am still nervous to this day about having my kids in my telluride as I never know if the window may shatter. This is a worry I never had before and believe this is worth investigating. I never had any signs, warning lights, or any warning of this event, as I was simply driving, heard a loud boom and realized the window had shattered and glass was everywhere.
Windshield cracked overnight with no visible chips or damage to windshield
2021 Kia Telluride. Driving home from work 6/8/23. Small crack developed in the windshield on passenger side lower corner. Has spread quickly across windshield. Left message with service department of local KIA dealership in Murfreesboro Tennessee inquiring about Kia "Customer Satisfaction Initiative" concerning windshield cracking. No call back after 8 days. Left email on KIA Corporate Customer Service Website on 6/12/23 inquiring about windshield "Customer Satisfaction Initiative". No response from Kia after 6 days. The Kia Web Site claims they will respond to inquiries within 48 hours but have not. Because this defect affects driver visibility I would consider this a safety issue.
The front windshield is pitting. There are many divots in the windshield. I purchased the car brand new and have noticed new marks over the 2 years of ownership.
My windshield has suffered a crack and several knicks from road debris hitting it. The windshield does not seem as resistant to damage from small pebbles/road debris as it should be.
Upon driving my new vehicle for approximately 5 months, the windshield got chipped. I took this to an individual and had this sealed. Last week, after driving my Telluride for about a year, the windshield began to crack in a different spot. The crack has grown and grown and now encompasses most of the windshield.
The windshield cracked without getting hit by a foreign object. It happened overnight while parked in a garage. It wasn't there the day before or I would have noticed it because it was so visible. It cracked from the very top and spread down around the rearview mirror and spread across and you can't feel the crack either from inside or outside, it is very smooth and you can only see a line.
Tiny rock, not visible to me but heard a soft tink sound, hit the windshield causing tiny chip and a huge crack from near the top of the drivers side to the bottom near the wipers. No reason for a tiny pebble to completely crack a windshield.
Windshield cracked about 7 inches in diameter with no point of impact.
Windshield appeared to have 6 inch crack in windshield, even though no rock or chip were noticed. Crack grew to an 18inch crack within 1 day. Crack will likely spread across entire windshield and inhibit visibility. This was 1 year to the day of purchasing the vehicle. Brought it to the dealers attention, and they are aware of the issue with 2020 models, but didn't have guidance from KIA on 2021 models.
The windshield of the car cracked on its own. There were no chips in the windshield and nothing hit the windshield of the car but it cracked while driving and continued to grow significantly in a very short period of time affecting visibility.
The windshield began to crack on the edge of the glass and spread across the entire windshield for no apparent reason. Nothing impacted the windshield like a rock or debris during driving. This happened overnight and then continued to spread, again, for no apparent reason. I have had windshield repair technicians look to see if I am missing something and they also agreed there were no chips or anything obvious that would start the crack on the windshield.
Windshield cracked without reason
The molding on the left side of the windshield, driver's side repeatedly came lose and impaired my vision when turning left.
We were sitting in the a parking lot (not driving), and heard a loud pop. The windshield had spontaneously cracked. There were no chips prior. The entire windshield had to be replaced. I had to pay $563 (insurance deductible) to have it replaced.
Sustained small rock chip in lower left of windshield. After a few miles formed a crack that extended half way across windshield. Research shows that Kia claimed 2020 vehicle issues and would replace windshields for no charge. They will not for 2021 Kia Telluride. I feel they have a quality issue in the windshield of the model I own, yet they refuse to take ownership if the issue. I see forums with owners having the exact same issue. I have owned vehicles for over 50 years and have never seen a windshield crack as easily as these.
While driving, small amount of snow fell from roof on to windshield and was unable to see the road clearly. Wipers were unable to lift the small about of snow to clear the windshield. Luckily I was not on a busy road an was able to stop. After clearing the small amount of snow the wipers were able to function.
A tiny rock hit the windshield going 30 miles an hour. The crack has consistently grown every day. My whole windshield has to be replaced. I've never had a vehicle that has such a weak windshield. This car is only 11 months old. The crack is horizontal and affects my view if the road because it's right in the middle.
The front windshield cracked. There was no known hit by an object and the windshield has cracked on the passenger side and continues to grow. Visibility is reduced due to this crack and it is a known issue in the 2020 model year and it appears to be continuing in the 2021 model year. The windshield will need replacement.
Two chips are in the windshield . Low speed. Then the windshield cracked. At low speed and nothing hit the windshield.
Windshield chipped very easily when driving on the highway. Only have 2000 miles on here. Reading this model has this issue commonly
UNKNOWN. Crack on the windshield appeared overnight. Starts at the top of the windshield and comes down the center, affecting visibility. Vehicle did not provide any warning or indication prior to the crack.
While driving at speed no more than 55mph a small pebble hit my windshield by the mirror and created a small chip that within minutes changed into full blown crack on my windows. It’s a SAFETY issue. There is no option of fixing the windshield it needs to be replaced.
On my wished a small object hit my windshield on the passenger side and within an hour it spread more by the best day it was almost on the driver side of the windshield. Second, the forward collision and lane departure lights came on. I took the SUV to Kia they said it was an issue with the camera and they where going to order the part and replace it for me. It seem I was not the only one with this issue.
The windshield cracked spontaneously on its own. There is no chip in the windshield and no object hit it. The crack is over twenty inches long and curved. I fear for my safety driving the car now.
A small foreign object hit our windshield and created a small chip on our brand new 2021 Kia Telluride (bought in April). When the repair company (that was sent out by insurance) came out repair the small chip the windshield cracked even further when the technician put pressure on the chip to repair which is now resulting in a full replacement.
WINDSHIELD GLASS ISSUEs Purchases Telluride 5/23/21 First chip on drivers side (lower area) repaired 5/25. Slightly visible. Second chips (2) on passenger side (lower area)-medium chips with some spidering: repaired 6/23 but still visible. Third chips (2) center windshield below the rear view mirror-large and spidering. Very visible and right near sight lines. To big for repair. Requesting replacement 7/24. Waiting for confirmation to replace. Safelite Auto Glass has been very responsive and do a nice job on all repairs. Did mention to Mark Kia in general conversation about glass issues. I was told not covered under warranty. I will be back to Mark Kia this week for oil change and will mention to them again. The safety concern is that this has all happened within 2 1/2 months of owning the brand new vehicle. The constant repairs and concern about driver and passenger safety is disheartening. My request it so see if this is ‘normal’ or an ongoing issue with Tellurides? The expensive replacement and interruption to driving is also a concern. I have replaced 1 windshield in my many decades of driving and find these windshields may be defective in design, angle and thickness. Please check into this safety concern. Thank you.
Located a crack on my windshield. The crack is below the windshield wipers towards the bottom and below the line of the hood. No bullseye nor a stone chip mark. Crack is about an inch long. Saw on Kia's website there were similar problems with the 2020 models. We've only owned the vehicle for about 4 months and have just over 6000 miles on it. No other signs of rock damage on entire vehicle.
Very rare for me to have an issue with the windshield, but appears to have a rock chip while no indication of impact was heard. Others with same make/model also reflect this issue. Rock chip was repaired and this resolved the issue for now. Insurance covered all expenses of repair.
after 3 months the windshield has cracked by itself. No rocks signs, crack went from the top frame. We reported it to our Dealer and scheduled an appointment for them to take a look.
Component: Windshield Safety risk: Driver visibility Problem reproduced: No Inspected by others: No Symptoms prior to failure: very small rock chip, size of a pencil eraser. I had a glass company come out to repair a rock chip on our 2021 SX, production date 03/21/2021. When the technician applied the suction or pressure to remove condensation from the chip the windshield cracked. The repairman is professional and experienced so I don't think this was malpractice. He had done hundreds of windshield repairs and never ran into something like this.
The car is less than a year old and the windshield has cracked. A small rock pebble bounced against the top of the windshield and minutes later a foot long crack was going down and across the windshield. The windshield is very poor quality. I’ve never had this issue with any vehicles in the past and they were much more durable. Im concerned that this front windshield will shatter before I’m able to have it replaced.
Went to pick up our new car from the dealer on Saturday 4/17 and noticed the windshield had a chip. Waited a couple of hours for the dealer to fill the chip. On Sunday 4/18 I noticed a second windshield chip, so I called Safelite and scheduled an appointment to have it filled Tuesday 4/20 which was their first available date. However, the chip turned into a crack on Monday 4/19 even though it was parked in the garage overnight. The initial crack was about 4 inches long and since then it has traveled across the windshield. The cracked windshield impacts visibility, and I'm also concerned about the integrity of the windshield and the possibility of glass shards breaking away and becoming a hazard for the driver and occupants.
THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CHIP AND 12-INCH CRACK AFTER 2000 MILES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. THERE WAS A MINOR ROCK HIT BUT NOTHING THAT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS SORT OF ISSUE.
Mileage: 1,900
BOUGHT KIA TELLURIDE 2021 IN DEC 2020, ITS WINDSHIELD BROKE IT SELF WHICH APPEARS TO BE FRAME STRESS RELATED ISSUE, DEALERSHIP ENGINEERS CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION. I RESEARCHED MORE AND FOUND THE SAME REPORTED ISSUES ON YEAR 2019 AND 2020 TELLURIDE. LOOKS LIKE KIA HAS NOT FIXED THIS CRITICAL DEFECT AND REFUSING TO ACCEPT THAT THERE ARE SERIOUS DESIGN ISSUES WITH KIA TELLURIDE. I REPORTING THIS AS I BELIEVE THIS DEFECT IF NOT CORRECTED WILL RESULT IN INNOCENT DEATHS. THIS IS SHAMEFUL THAT A MULTIBILLION DOLLAR COMPANY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE LIVES OF THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS.
Mileage: 1,850
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, UNSURE OF WHEN OR WHERE, BUT WENT FROM 2 INCHES LONG TO WHOLE WINDSHIELD IN A MATTER OF A DAY OR TWO. CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW IT HAPPENED, NOTICED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8K MILES.
Mileage: 8,000
WE JUST TOOK OUR FIRST TRIP IN OUR KIA TELLURIDE - 1,700 TOTAL MILES. THE VEHICLE HAD 1,200 MILES BEFORE THE TRIP. BY THE TIME WE RETURNED HOME, THERE IS ONE MAJOR CHIP, ONE MINOR CHIP AND OVER 20 MICRO-CHIPS/POCK MARKS IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD ALREADY LOOKS WORSE THAN THE SEVEN-YEAR OLD, 115,000-MILE HONDA ODYSSEY'S WE CAME FROM (WHICH TRAVERSED THE EXACT SAME ROUTE AT LEAST 10 TIMES). YOU WOULD THINK THE FRONT OF THE TELLURIDE WOULD BE A MESS IF THE WINDSHIELD IS THAT BAD, BUT WE CAN FIND ONLY ONE SMALL NICK IN THE PAINT ON THE HOOD. THERE WAS ONE, AUDIBLE ROCK HIT ON THE TRIP - WE ASSUME THAT IS THE BIG CHIP. THE AFOREMENTIONED ODYSSEY TOOK SEVERAL SIMILAR OR BIGGER HITS THAN THAT WITH NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER. AS FOR ALL THE POCK MARKS, IT SEEMS THOSE WERE CAUSED BY SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THEY ARE NOT CONCENTRATED IN A PARTICULAR AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD - THEY ARE ALL OVER. WE LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE VEHICLE BUT NOW HAVE TO LOOK THROUGH WHAT SEEMS LIKE A 10-YEAR OLD WINDSHIELD AFTER SIX WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP, AND ARE LEFT TO WONDER IF ANY OF THE MICRO-CHIPS WILL LEAD TO FURTHER DAMAGE. THE TELLURIDE WINDSHIELD IS CLEARLY NOT UP TO PAR. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN REPLACING IT WITH NEW KIA GLASS UNTIL THEY RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS OF THE BIG CHIP. ABOVE THE BIG CHIP (ABOVE THE BLACK DOTS), YOU CAN SEE A FEW OF THE POCK MARKS/MICRO-CHIPS MENTIONED.
Mileage: 1,200
MY KIA TELLURIDE WINDSHIELD CHIPPED TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASED AND THE CHIP SPREAD INTO A SIX INCH CRACK IMMEDIATELY. NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO REPAIR THE CHIP. I WAS ON A REGULAR NYC STREET WHEN THE CHIP AND CRACKED OCCURRED. I DROVE LESS THAN 1000 FEET AFTER NOTICING THE CHIL WHEN THE SMALL CHIP TURNED INTO A LARGE CRACK.
THE KIA TELLURIDE HAS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH AIR FLOW BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD ROWS AND ON LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OUTPUT FLOWS. IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO KEEP AIR FLOW EVEN IN THE CAR AND WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR IT REQUIRES FREQUENT STOPS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO ADDRESS THE TEMPERATURE ISSUES OR ME TRYING TO CHANGE IT WHILE DRIVING WITH KIDS WHO ARE TOO HOT OR COLD AND HOPING I DON'T CRASH. IT'S A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND VERY INCONVENIENT. SECOND ISSUE IS THAT I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY NOT CLOSE TO ANY OTHER CARS AND I HEARD A FAINT NOISE AND IT LOOKED LIKE BIRD POOP BUT WHEN I LOOKED CLOSER I SAW A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR 22 YEARS AND HAD MUCH HARDER THINGS HIT A WINDOW WITHOUT BREAKING IT - WHATEVER DID HIT THE WINDOW WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CAUSE DAMAGE. THIS CAR HAS FAULTY WINDSHIELD AND FAULTY VENTILATION SYSTEM IN LAST TWO ROWS.
Mileage: 20
WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45-50MPH ON A STRAIGHT, SMOOTH, ROAD WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD POP OR THUD AND THEN GLASS FELL IN ON THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER PLUS SOME ON THE SECOND ROW, WHERE MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SEATED. THE FRONT SUNROOF PANEL HAD EXPLODED OR SHATTERED SOMEHOW. WE WERE ON A SECTION OF ROAD WITH NOTHING OVERHEAD. OUR TELLURIDE ONLY HAD 190 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
Mileage: 190
HAVE NOT EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT ON MY NE 2021 TELLURIDE AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD TWICE. BOTH TIMES THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSE BY ROAD DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD, BUT THE CRACK QUICKLY SPREADS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. IT JUST SEEMS A LITTLE QUESTIONABLE WHETHER OR NOT THE WINDSHIELDS ARE DEFECTIVE SOMEHOW. THE TIME BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND OCCURRENCE IS APPROXIMATELY 5 WEEKS (TWO WEEKS BETWEEN THE FIRST REPLACEMENT AND SECOND CRACK.) I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND FORUMS WHERE OTHER TELLURIDE OWNERS HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. NOT SURE WHAT THE CAUSE IS, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER HAVING A WINDSHIELD REPLACED MUCH LESS TWICE ALMOST IN THE SAME MONTH.
Mileage: 3,380
WINDSHIELD WAS FOUND WITH A 4 FOOT CRACK. IN IT .NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD
Mileage: 3,200
WE PURCHASED OUR 2021 TELLURIDE NOVEMBER 14TH AND LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER A CHIP APPEARED OR WAS MINOR BEYOND SOMETHING WE RECOGNIZED WHEN WE PURCHASED IT SINCE IT WAS DARK WHEN WE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND WITHIN SECONDS ESCALATED TO A FULL BLOWN CRACK GREATER THAN 6 INCHES WHEN WE WERE TURNING DOWN A ROAD WHERE THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES OR OUTSIDE INFLUENCES AROUND. THEY SAID BECAUSE IT APPEARS AS THOUGH IMPACT DAMAGE CAUSED IT THAT THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD EVEN THOUGH KIA ALREADY HAS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE ON THE 2020 MODELS WHERE A CHIP QUICKLY BECOMES UNREPAIRABLE BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE WINDOW. WE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET THE CHIP FILLED BECAUSE IT HAPPENED WITHIN SECONDS. I'VE OWNED MANY OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN HIT BY ROCKS AND OTHER DEBRIS ON THE THE ROAD OF FROM SIMPLY BEING OUTSIDE AND HAVE NEVER SEEN A CRACK APPEAR SO QUICKLY AND ESCALATE BEYOND MINOR REPAIRS IN SECONDS.
Mileage: 100
PURCHASED VEHICLE AND AFTER 2 WEEKS NOTICED A MAJOR CRACK IN WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM EDGE TO ALMOST MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD. NO EVIDENCE OF A CHIP.
Mileage: 521
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY A SMALL PEBBLE HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CAUSED A CHIP. AFTER PARKING AND THEN RETURNING TO THE CAR 2 HOURS LATER THE CHIP HAD SPREAD INTO A VERY LARGE CRACK ACROSS THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT CRACK AFTER A CHIP LIKE THIS. THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD MUST NOW BE REPLACED AT SIGNIFICANT COST.
Mileage: 3,000
LAST WEEK THE FRONT COLLISION WARNING AND LANE DEPARTURE WARNING ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH AND TODAY THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK IN IT, NOTHING HAS HIT THE WINDSHIELD IT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. 2021 S MODEL 2800 MILES ON THE CLOCK
Mileage: 2,800
BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 772 MILES ON VEHICLE AND THE FIRST ROCK TO HIT WINDSHIELD CAUSED QUARTER SIZE CRACK ON WINDSHIELD. AN I LITERALLY MEAN FIRST TIME A PEBBLE HIT WINDSHIELD SINCE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. WAS DRIVING 62MPH ON FREEWAY WHEN I HEARD A SMALL TICK AND LOOKED AND IMMEDIATELY WENT REALLY? I HAVE HAD TWO CHIPS ON MY PREVIOUS 8 VEHICLES AND BOTH TIME THE NOISE MADE STARTLED ME AND THIS I ONLY HEARD IT CAUSE MY RADIO WAS OFF.
Mileage: 772
I DROVE TO WORK, ON A REGULAR ROAD, AT 40-45 MPH. NO ISSUE. I PARKED MY CAR AND WHEN I CAME OUT 12 HOURS LATER I HAD A CRACK THAT STARTED AT THE BASE OF MY WINDSHIELD AND SPREAD ABOUT A QUARTER OF THE LENGTH OF MY WINDSHIELD. I WAS NOT PARKED UNDER A TREE AND THERE WAS NO INCLEMENT WEATHER. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO HAPPEN. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR LESS THAN A WEEK.
