This Problem Across All Years
System electrical failure due to a faulty part (DC/DC Converter). This essentially prevents the charging system so the battery dies and the car becomes undriveable. When this occurred to us, the car was in the middle of the road and could not start or move impeding traffic. This is a growing problem among owners of this vehicle and so much so that the part is currently backordered due to so much demand. A warning message was displayed stating "Drive Safely: Electrical Fault Detected".

The car had electrical Warning- literally the vehicle in totality shut down and I needed a tow to dealership- after diagnosis an electrical part-DC CONVERTER PART # 433123464. The part is unavailable anywhere. I called tri-state area in my own attempts for my car to be repaired. I was advised my the dealer that EVERY DEALERSHIP IS WAITING ON 5-10 of the same part!! I was currently advised the part is being manufactured in the UK -shipping estimate date mid January 2026. If this is infact the situation -I would like someone to look into a recall- the $700 part expires with my warranty!!! In February 2026. The vehicle in dead-without the DC converter

My 2022 Land Rover Defender was equipped with a factory-spec winch (a WARN Xeon Platinum 10-S, with Land Rover-supplied surrounds, etc.) installed immediately upon delivery by a JLR dealership. The winch is setup for a wireless winch remote, which intermittently loses pairing to the actual winch control unit. Due to the design of the Land Rover mounts, however, the winch’s controls (necessary to reset and reconnect the remote) are entirely inaccessible. The truck has to be taken to a JLR dealer every time the winch remote disconnects, the bumper and winch surrounds must be removed, and the controls thereby accessed to reset the system. So, several days’ worth of work every time the remote happens to disconnect, which is not a workable design. I have had the unit examined and serviced four times by dealerships and none are able to address the issue as the issue is with the factory design itself. There are third-party solutions (from WARN) available to reroute the winch controls to an accessible location, which the dealership has recommended I undertake just to get the factory design to function sustainably. This will likely run me $3,000 out of pocket, just to address design issues with the original $6,000 factory accessory. I have already contacted JLR customer service, who offered me a $300 voucher for future dealership service. After many discussions about the insufficiency of this voucher, they suggested that I file a NHTSA complaint.

Both times we were lucky we were not out and about 4 wheeling like we normally do. Second is very recent about 18 months after purchase. Both the coolant feed and return lines to the turbo were leaking bad. O2 sensor came up faulty, as well as PCV diaphragm. This about the 4th serious issue we’ve had with this car. I expected this upon purchasing but got one anyways to try it out for off-roading. More to come soon!

I purchased a 2022 V8 after waiting about a year to get the vehicle. It mostly has been a good car until recently. I was pulling into my garage, which has a downhill grade, and there was ice on the surface of the driveway and subsequently slid into the corner of my garage going no more than 3-5 mph. Quarter size dent on the bumper, no big deal… I thought. Tried to reverse away from the garage and the car wouldn’t move. All of the warning lights appeared. I was able to finally get it to reserve but every time I would put it into drive from there, the parking brake would turn on and the brakes would lock up. I had it towed to a Land Rover dealership and apparently the entire ABS module has faulted. They ordered a new one and installed it only to find out that it still isn’t working properly. Land Rover says this isn’t covered by warranty as it isn’t a manufactures defect. I’ve now had to spend $10k and still don’t have a fully functioning vehicle. How could a $110k “off road machine” be put to a stand still due to a quarter size dent incident in the bumper, let alone the ABS module is located in the engine bay! Incredibly frustrating and can’t wait to get it fixed and sel it; if I can even get it fixed properly. I am taking it to another Land Rover dealership in town as the other one seemed incapable of figuring it out. Land Rover USA has been horrible to work with and I am now driving a vehicle with a vibrating sensation in the brakes and maybe 50% of the normal braking power.

In addition, it occasionally does not start when I press the start button with my foot depressing the brake pedal and the key is in the car. It is a brand new vehicle with about 1,750 miles. On 11/11/21 I was driving the vehicle down a hill at approximately 40-45 MPH when the automatic emergency braking system self activated for no reason. The vehicle came to a rapid, abrupt stop and the closest vehicle in front of us was at least 20 yards ahead. There were no obstacles in the road. Luckily, there was no vehicle following me or we would have been rear-ended. There was a red hazard signal with a red exclamation mark that appeared on the display near the speedometer and an audible alarm sounded. I immediately brought the vehicle back to the Land Rover Service department and they did a "scan". They informed me that they did not detect any faults or any history of a problem. I love this vehicle but I am now obviously concerned about driving it. I informed the dealership that if this happens again I will return the vehicle and request a refund.
