DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE, 2018 MY DASHBOARD TOP MELTED AND RELEASED AN OBNOXIOUS SMELL. NOW WHEN DRIVING FACING THE SUN THERE IS A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT PROHIBITS A CLEAR VIEW WHILE DRIVING CREATING VARIOUS SAFETY PROBLEMS. TO OVERCOME THIS HAZARD THE DRIVER HAS TO PUT ON SUN GLASSES AND IF DRIVING AFTER SUNSET THE GLARE FROM STREET LIGHTS, TRAFFIC SIGNALS, ETC., CREATES MANY PROBLEMS BY DISTORTING THE VIEW THRU THE WINDSHIELD. AND NOW,THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD CANNOT BE REPAIRED OTHER THAN REPLACING IT WITH A NEW ONE.

DASHBOARD IS MELTING. I WAS TOLD I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A RECALL LETTER. I DID NOT RECEIVE A LETTER PERTAINING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DASH. IT IS BETWEEN 96 TO 100% FOR MONTHS HERE AND THE DASH GETS SO HOT EVEN TO TOUCH IT. . I PUT A SUNSCREEN OVER WINDSHIELD AND PUNCTURES IT. I AM NOT ASKING FOR A REPLACEMENT BUT JUST REPAIRING IT.. I LOVE MY CAR AND INTEND TO GET NEW ONE NEXT YEAR BUT I PLAN ON KEEPING IT FOR ANOTHER YEAR. I WENT TO STERLING MCCALL LEXUS AND WAS TOLD MINE OFFER EXPIRED MAY, 2017. HAD I RECEIVED A LETTER I WOULD REPLACE IT THEN. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER. I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL.

WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE CAR WHEN I WENT TO RAISE IT. THE WINDOW DIDN'T BREAK, AND I MADE IT HOME AND REINSTALLED IT AND HELD IT IN WITH TAPE. THIS HAPPENED LAST WINTER. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE LEXUS FORUMS, AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS AS WELL. IN MY CASE, THE WINDOW CLIPS DID NOT BREAK, BUT RATHER THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT ADHESIVE APPLIED TO THE CLIPS, OR THE ADHESIVE SIMPLY FAILED. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR WHICH LEXUS SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. OTHER, LATER YEARS WERE ALSO AFFECTED, AND THE CAUSE IS USUALLY 1 OR BOTH BROKEN CLIPS. OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED AS MANY AS 3 WINDOWS BEING REPLACED THE LEXUS, AT GREAT COST SINCE THE ENTIRE WINDOW MUST BE REPLACED. IN MY CASE I FOUND AN AUTO GLASS SERVICE THAT WILL DO IT FOR $250, COMPARED TO THE DEALER COST OF $700. BUT THE ISSUE IS SAFETY! IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND EITHER THE DRIVER'S WINDOW FELL OUT OR ANY OTHER WINDOW FELL OUT, IT MIGHT CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OR POSSIBLE INJURIES TO OTHERS OR A PASSENGER. DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SHINY. A VOLUNTARY WARRANTY SERVICE RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE CONDITION PRODUCES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. WARRANTY EXTENSION REIMBURSEMENT OFFER EXPIRED IN MAY 2017. MY CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. RECEIVED SERVICE NOTE AND JUST SET IT ASIDE AS CAR WAS GARAGED. RECENTLY RELICENSED VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY ON FIRST BRIGHT DAY WAS REMINDED OF THE ISSUE. LEXUS SAYS OFFER EXPIRED, PERIOD. I CAN CERTAINLY PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT ($1500). I CONTEND THIS IS AN ONGOING SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. I CONTEND LEXUS/TOYOTA AVOIDED A SAFETY RECALL BY PREEMPTIVELY ISSUING A SERVICE/WARRANTY NOTICE. I WAS DRIVING AND PULLED UP NEXT TO ANOTHER CAR AS I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE DRIVER MOTIONED TO ME FOR DIRECTIONS I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN TO SPEAK TO RGE PERSON. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MAKES A POPPING SOUND AND SOUNDS LIKE IT JUMPS OUT OF THE TRACK. THIS PREVENT OPENING AND CLOSING THE WINDOW. I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR FROM JM LEXUS AND NOW TOLD. HAVE TO PAY OVER $800 TO REPAIR IT. I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE SALESMAN WHEN WE MADE THE PURCHASE WHICH MADE ME SWEAR OFF PURCHASING ANOTHER VEHICLE THROUGH THEM OR EVEN RECOMMENDIBG THEM. THIS IS MY THIRD PURCHASE THROUGH THEM I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO MY INSTINCT. . I PARKED MY CAR IN PARKING GARAGE OR ON THE STREET. WHEN I RETURN I NOTICED THE INTERIOR DASH MELTS AND PEELS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE RAISES.

MELTING DASHBOARD-HAVE ASKED IT TO BE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T COVERED. YESTERDAY I WAS TOLD IT IS COVERED BUT COULD TAKE YEARS TO GET THE PARTS IN. I'VE BEEN ASKING ABOUT IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND NOW THE REFLECTION FROM THE GOOEY MELTING DASH IS OBSCURING MY VISIBILITY ON SUNNY DAYS. I LIVE IN FLORIDA SO MOST DAYS ARE SUNNY DAYS. IN 2007, I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 MODEL LEXUS ES 350 4 DOOR SEDAN. SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS LIFTED AND THE CAR WAS DOWNSHIFTING AND BRAKING BY THE ENGINE (THE BRAKE NOT BEING DEPRESSED), AT ONE POINT THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD FOR A TIME RATHER THAN CONTINUE TO BEING BRAKED BY THE ENGINE. THIS CONDITION HAS CONTINUED IN SPITE MY CALLING IT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE LEXUS DEALER IN NEW ORLEANS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE FIRST BEING SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, AND THE LATEST BEING ON JUNE 16TH OF THIS YEAR. IN EACH INSTANCE, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE CAR HAD NO PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT A RAPID SURGE, BUT RATHER A SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED MOVING FORWARD IN GEAR INSTEAD OF A CONTINUOUS DOWNSHIFTING AND RESULTING BRAKING WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AT ABOUT 30 TO 40 MPH AND THE ACCELERATOR IS LIFTED. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR IN EVERY INSTANCE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS LIFTED, BUT IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE DRIVER EXPECTS THE CAR TO SLOW ITSELF THE SUDDEN FORWARD MOVEMENT, INSTEAD OF A CONTINUOUS SLOWING, IS DANGEROUS. THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A FAULT OF THE CAR'S ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM. I ALSO CALLED TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER THE FACT THAT WHEN THE CAR IS BRAKED, THE CAR DOES STOP BUT IF PRESSURE IS CONTINUED TO BE PLACED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT TO DATE, BUT IT DOES REQUIRE THE DRIVER TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE CAR WILL STOP. EACH TIME THIS IS DONE, THE BRAKE PEDAL CATCHES MIDWAY TO THE FLOOR. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM ZERO TO 60 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE FAILURE MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE ALL WEATHER FLOORMATS THAT WERE INSTALLED ON TOP OF THE REGULAR MATS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

I WAS DRIVING AT 9:30AM TO WORK ALONG WITH MY WIFE ON I-696 NEAR DETROIT IN THE LEFT LANE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, BUT AS I APPROACHED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE ACCELERATOR AND PLACED IT ON THE BRAKE AND VEHICLE WAS CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE. HAD TO PUT FULL FORCE ON THE BRAKE. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM FURTHER INCREASING ITS SPEED. ONCE I REALIZED THE PROBLEM I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL , AND WHILE THE CAR SLOWED , I COULD HEAR THAT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AT A HIGH RATE. AFTER A MINUTE, I MOVED THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATED STARTED AGAIN, AND I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE ONCE AGAIN. A FEW MOMENTS LATER THIS UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION CEASED AND THE CAR REGAINED ITS NORMAL CONTROL CHARACTERISTICS. AFTER SLOWLY COMPLETING THE DRIVE TO WORK I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AT MEADE LEXUS, SOUTHFIELD AND SPOKE TO A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TO REPORT THIS VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT. AFTER DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM THE SERVICE MAN IMMEDIATELY ASKED WHICH FLOOR MATS I WAS USING ON THE CAR. I REPORTED THAT I HAD BEEN SUPPLIED WITH BLACK RUBBER MATS BY LEXUS,. WHEN WE RECEIVED THE CAR IN JULY 2006, AND AS SUGGESTED BY THE SALESMAN HAD BEGUN TO USE THOSE WHEN THE WEATHER TURNED FOUL IN THE FALL. I WAS ASKED IF I HAD REMOVED THE CARPET MAT WHEN I PUT IN THE BLACK RUBBER MAT AND I SAID THAT THE CARPET MAT HAD BEEN FIRMLY ATTACHED TO THE CAR, AND THAT I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REMOVE THAT MAT BEFORE INSTALLING THE RUBBER MAT. THIS QUESTION SUGGESTED THAT THIS WAS A WELL RECOGNIZED PROBLEM . WHEN I QUERIED THE SERVICE MAN, WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS INDEED A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. I WAS CHAGRINED THAT I HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY INSTRUCTION TO AVOID PUTTING DOWN BOTH MATS.
