I ALWAYS WANTED TO HAVE A LEXUS AND ON MY 50TH BITHDAY AND PURCHASED A NEW ONE. I WANTED A LEXUS BECAUSE IT MEANT QUALITY. I UNDERSTAND TOYOTA /LEXUS ISSUED A NOTICE TO DEALERS BUT NOT A RECALL NOTICE. I NEVER RECIEVED ANY NOTICE FROM MY LOCAL DEALER OR LEXUS REGARDING THIS DEFECT UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT PLAN HAD EXPIRED. CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS DROPPED WHEN TOYOTA/LEXUS AGREED TO REPLACE DASH AND DOOR PANELS BACK 10 YEARS AND NO MILAGE CAP ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, MINE INCLUDED. I WOULD LIKE THIS REPLACED IN A TIMELY FASHION AT NO CHARGE. I CAN'T EVEN TRADE OR SELL MY VEHICLE FOR REAL,VALUE OF A GARAGE KEPT VEHICLE WITH THESE ISSUES. WHY IS IT LEXUS CAN'T DO BETTER FOR ITS CUSTOMERS AND NOT LEAVE ME IN LIMBO? I WOULDN'T PURCHASE ANOTHER LEXUS OR TOYOTA IN THE FUTURE IF THE MANUFACTURE WON'T STAND IT'S PRODUCT. TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 LEXUS IS 250. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED FROM A STOP POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CARBON BUILD UP. THERE WAS NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL YEARS LATER AND THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT. THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL TOP CARBON CLEAN OUTS, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD AND THE INNER DOOR PANELS WERE MELTING. THE FAILURES MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT THE WIDOW DUE TO A GLARE COMING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V340000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000.

I HAVE BEEN CALLING THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT STILL UNKNOWN WHEN THE PARTS WILL COME IN. I HAVE CALLED LEXUS DIRECTLY ON ESTIMATE TIME TO SHIP OUT PARTS, BUT THEY NEVER PROVIDED ANY ANSWER. TOOK IT TO SEE WHAT I COULD DO, ONLY TO BE TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY DOOR PANELS. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2008 IS-250 WITH LESS THAN 6,000 MILE ON THE ODOMETER. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL UNUSUAL PROBLEMS. THE SEALS AROUND THE WIND SHIELD WERE DRY ROTTED AND HAD FALLEN OUT ALL THE WAY AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THE DASH BOARD WAS ALSO STICKY AND HAD A NUMBER OF CRACKS. THE TOP OF MY WINDSHIELD WAS ALSO 'DE-LAMINATED" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LEXUS DID STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD AND DASH BOARD FREE OF CHARGE EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MY CAR HAS THE EXTENDED FACTORY WARRANTY ON IT STILL TO THIS DAY. I HAD TO PAY $490.00 PLUS DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO GET THEM TO REPLACE THE MOLDING AROUND BOTH SIDES OF MY WINDSHIELD THAT HAD ROTTED AWAY. WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED, I POINTED OUT TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THE FACT THAT THE DOOR PANELS WERE ALSO "MELTING" AND IF YOU POKE IT, IT LEAVES AN INDENTATION IN THE MATERIAL AND IT WAS CLEARLY A DEFECT AS THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. THE DOOR PANELS ALSO GET A WHITE FILM ON THEM WHEN THE CAR SITS. I BELIEVE IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND, THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. I THINK LEXUS/TOYOTA NEEDS TO REPLACE THE DOOR PANELS ON MY CAR FREE OF CHARGE AS THE PROBLEM IS A "DEFECT" IN WORKMANSHIP AND NOT AN END USER CAUSED ISSUE. I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS MY DASH SLOWLY GETTING SHINIER AND MORE STICKY TO THE TOUCH. I HAVE TRIED USING QUALITY CAR PLASTIC/VINYL CLEANERS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BUT TO NO AVAIL. IN FACT, THE DASH IS SO STICKY THAT USING A CLOTH TO CLEAN IT CAUSES FIBERS TO ADHERE TO THE DASH. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THE SHINE IS PRODUCING GLARE ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IN TURN MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING (ESPECIALLY ON SUNNY DAYS WHEN THE SUN IS HIGH). AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE (ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE LIVING IN WARMER CLIMATES SUCH AS MYSELF) AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL DRIVERS EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP, AND THEN TO CORPORATE LEXUS FOR SEVERAL YEARS ABOUT MY DASHBOARD AND DOORS DISINTEGRATING, MELTING AWAY. I HAVE 47,893 MILES ON THE CAR WHICH IS GARAGED THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY/NIGHTS. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SERVICED AND MAINTAINED SOLELY AT GERMAINE LEXUS OF NAPLES. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE CONSUMER ISSUE PER THE INTERNET, AS WELL AS CONFIRMED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP I SPOKE TO AT LEXUS. B LEXUS HAS REPEATEDLY OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF.....WHICH I FIND RIDICULOUS. I HAVE A 2000 ISUZU RODEO WITH 125,000 MILES, THAT HAS NEVER BEEN RECALLED, THE DASH, SUNROOF, AND ELECTRONICS STILL WORK....UNLIKE MY "LUXURY" LEXUS. THIS SHOULD BE A WARRANTY ITEM, IT IS NOT - RATHER, SHOULD NOT BE A REPLACEABLE PART LIKE BRAKES, CLUTCH, SEAT MOTOR, ETC. THIS IS THE DASHBOARD IN PLACES THAT ONE IS UNABLE TO ACCESS WITH ANY BODY PART! THANK YOU, I HOPE THAT THERE WILL BE SOME RESOLVE ON THIS. IN JUNE OF 2013 I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT BOTH MY DASH AND MY FRONT DOOR PANELS WERE STICKY AND WERE BEGINNING TO MELT. UPON BRINGING MY CAR INTO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP MY SERVICE ADVISER TOOK PHOTOS OF THE AFFECTED AREAS AND SUBMITTED THEM TO CORPORATE FOR GOODWILL WARRANTY. THE END RESULT IS THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE TO HAVE BOTH MY DOOR PANELS AND DASH TO BE REPLACED. TO ME, THIS SEEMS RIDICULOUS. LEXUS HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE MATERIAL THAT WAS USED ON THE DASH, YET I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $1000 TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED? I OPTED TO NOT GET THE REPAIRS COMPLETED SINCE I WAS PLANNING TO TRADE THE CAR IN AT THE END OF THIS YEAR FOR A NEWER MODEL. TO DATE THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE; THERE ARE NOW CHUNKS (!!) OF DOOR PANEL MISSING ON BOTH SIDES FROM MY FINGERNAILS (WHICH AREN'T EXCESSIVELY LONG) HITTING THEM WHILE I ENTER/EXIT THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, MY DASH IS HORRENDOUS LOOKING AND IS STARTING TO HAVE A BAD GLARE AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AS THE MELTING PROGRESSES. WHILE THIS MAY JUST BE "COSMETIC" TO SOME, IT ISN'T AT ALL WHAT I PAID FOR!! NOR IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A UNNECESSARY AND UNSAFE REFLECTIVE GLARE THAT IS BEING CAUSED BY CHEAP MATERIALS BEING USED. TO ME, IT SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY, AND FURTHERMORE AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. I DIDN'T SPEND $30,000 ON A VEHICLE SO THAT THEY INTERIOR COULD MELT IN THE SUN. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND OUR SUMMER TEMPERATURES ARE CLOSE TO 100 DEGREES MOST DAYS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN TO ANY OF THE OTHER 7 VEHICLES I HAVE OWED, WHICH MAKES IT ABSURD THAT IS OCCURRING ON MY SO-CALLED "LUXURY" VEHICLE. *JB
