THE DASHBOARD FRACTURE EXPANDED THROUGHOUT THE DASHBOARD AND CAUSED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIR BAG OUTLINE TO BE VISIBLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DASHBOARD REPLACEMENT WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. LEXUS HAD A RECALL TO REPAIR CRACKS RAPIDLY DEVELOPING IN THE DASHBOARD. WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL HAVING CANCER SURGERY. THE DATE FOR THE RECALL HAD JUST PASSED. I CALLED LEXUS AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR TO9 THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND THE PROBLEM AND WROTE OF AN ESTIMATE TO SUMMIT FROM HEADQUARTERS FOR COVERAGE. HEADQUARTERS GOT BACK TO ME AND SAID I WAS TOO LATE TO HAVE IT FIXED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD. I WROTE TO THE CEO OF LEXUS USA AND NEVER EVEN GOT THE COURTESY OF A REPLY. NOW THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING WORSE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE STEEL CABLE THAT SECURED THE SPARE TIRE UNDER THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SNAPPED AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN AIR CONDITIONER DRAIN NEEDED TO BE UNCLOGGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.

MY AIR VENTS CONSTANTLY EMIT A WHITE POWDERY SUBSTANCE THAT COLLECTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND WITHIN THE VENTS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH CONCERNS OF WHAT I AM INHALING INTO MY LUNGS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CALCIUM COATING IS COMING OFF OF A TUBE OR WIRE AND THE CALCIUM THEN GETS BLOWN OUT OF THE AIR VENTS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE SUBSTANCE IS NOT HARMFUL IF INHALED BUT I AM NOT SURE I BELIEVE THAT. THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REMOVE MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD TO REACH THE FAULTY PART. LEXUS STATED THEY OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COSTS AND I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD PAY A PENNY AS I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CAUSE THE PROBLEM. *TR
DASHBOARD HAS BEEN CRACKING TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN- I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT CRACKS DUE TO HEAT AND NOW THE WHOLE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AND PIECES FALLING OFF. *JS
1. I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT MY CAR IN A GARAGE & ONLY USED PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED & BOUGHT DIRECTLY FROM LEXUS. UPON ENTERING MY VEHICLE MY DAUGHTER NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE DASH RUNNING FROM BOTTOM SIDE OF GLOVE COMPARTMENT TO TOP OF DASH. PIECES THAT FALL OFF CRUMBLE TO DUST THE SECOND THEY'RE TOUCHED. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY'VE HAD HUNDREDS OF CARS COMING IN W THE SAME ISSUE AND IT WOULD BE $1500 FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND THAT DIDN'T INCLUDE LABOR! 2. MY MOON(SUN) ROOF STOPPED WORKING LITERALLY JUST ONE DAY WOULDN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY. I HAD TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CUT THE CABLE SO THEY COULD CLOSE IT SO RAIN ETC DIDN'T LEAK INTO MY VEHICLE. AGAIN THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS! I WAS TOLD AGAIN THE PART WAD AT LEAST $1500 NOT INCLUDING LABOR..... HOW COINCIDENTAL IT'S THE SAME PRICE AS REPLACING MY DASH. 3. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM LEXUS I WAS GIVEN A "PAINT PEN" FOR SOME LIGHT SCRATCHES THAT WERE FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER (I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH A LITTLE OVER 3000 MILES ON IT IN 2007)AND I ASKED THEM TO USE IT SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY IF I APPLIED IT WRONG. AFTER THE REPAIR GENTLEMAN DID A FEW SPOTS I STOPPED HIM BECAUSE YOU COULD SEE EXACTLY WHERE HE HAD APPLIED IT, IT WAS RAISED AND THE COLOR WAS OFF. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX IT. NOW THESE ISSUES WERE NOT DUE TO ANY ACCIDENT OR IMPROPER DRIVING OR HAVING SOME INEXPERIENCED MECHANIC DOING WORK. I HAVE LEXUS TAKING CARE OF MY SERVICES ETC AND THESE PROBLEMS ARE EXPENSIVE AND SOMETHING I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH. I AM FLABBERGASTED THAT LEXUS/TOYOTA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND FIX ISSUES THAT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OWNERS ARE HAVING. I WANT LEXUS TO CORRECT THIS FOR MYSELF AND THE OTHER OWNERS THAT ARE VOICING THEIR CONCERNS. AS IT STANDS MANY OF US WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LEXUS AGAIN BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES.

AFTER REACHING OUR DESTINATION WE REALIZED THE TOP MOLDING ON THE QUARTER REAR DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW HAD RIPPED OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON DESIGN FLAW, BASED ON LEXUS CHATS. THIS SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURER COVERED DEFECT EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. DASH HAS HAIRLINE CRACKS NEAR FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG AND AROUND IGNITION AND GAUGES. I HAVE HAD MY DASH COVERED FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS AND ALSO VEHICLE KEPT UNDER A CARPORT. MANY FORUMS HAVE CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. LEXUS REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'M CONCERNED IF MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED THE FLYING DEBRIS FROM DASH COULD POSSIBLY PUT SOMEONE'S EYE OUT OR CAUSE FACIAL INJURY. IN 2010 WHEN I HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE TO JM LEXUS (MARGATE) I ASKED ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED OR REPLACED AS I WAS WORRIED IT FALL DOWN FROM WHERE THE CRACK IS. THE GENTLEMEN'S ANSWER WAS THAT THE CAR IS 6 YEARS OLD. I EXPLAINED I HAVE ANOTHER CAR THAT IS OLDER WITHOUT THE ISSUES. THE REPAIR WOULD BE MY EXPENSE. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT HAS REDUCED RESALE OR TRADE IN VALUE THAT COST A LOT OF MONEY. *TR

IN EARLY 2011, MY DAUGHTER NOTICED A VERY LARGE CRACK IN THE DASH RIGHT ABOVE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. (WE WERE GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE NOT MOVING, ETC). LATER THAT AFTERNOON WE GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AND NOT ONLY WERE THERE MORE CRACKS, BUT HUGE CHUNKS HAVE FALLEN OFF AND LITERALLY THE PIECES THAT FELL OFF JUST DISINTEGRATED WHEN PICKED UP. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS TOYOTA HAS ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE, ALBEIT ONA CASE BY CASE BASIS, BUT I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF FORUMS & POSTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE NO MATTER LOCATION, MILEAGE OR CARE OR CONDITION OF VEHICLE. LEXUS SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PREVIOUS REPUTATION FOR BEING A LUXURY VEHICLE AND NOT COMPROMISING ON THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR PRODUCT AND REPLACE OR FIX OR REIMBURSE THOSE THAT ARE AFFECTED! FOR THE REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD. I CALLED THE CORP. OFFICER AND COMPLAINED AND RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME 25% OFF FOR THE REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD. THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE THEIR PRODUCT HAS A DEFECT. I STILL OWN THIS VEHICLE AND THE DASHBOARD IS TOTALLY RIPPED UP. CONFRONTED DEALER WHO SOLD THE CAR AND HE THEN ADMITTED THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM..I COULD EITHER REPLACE THE DASH FOR AROUND $2000 OR TRY TO PATCH/REPAIR IT. CALLED AND SOME REPAIR SHOPS WOULD NOT REPAIR MY DASH BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS RIGHT WHERE THE AIRBAG IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THEY WOULDN'T TOUCH IT. HOW CAN A LUXURY CAR MANUFACTURER GET AWAY WITH DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS? IF THE DASHBOARD CRACKS MORE SEVERELY, WILL THE AIRBAG DEPLOY? LEXUS AGREED TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AT NO CHARGE, BUT NOT THE LABOR COSTS. WHILE REPLACING IT, THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION HAD SEVERE FLUID LEAKAGE ON RIGHT SIDE, BOOT DETERIORATED. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WAS $1,856.00. THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE LEFT FRONT CV AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT, AN ADDITIONAL $412.00. IN READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE AND ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THAT THE DASHBOARD AND THE RACK AND PINION ARE A COMMON PROBLEMS THAT LEXUS IS AWARE OF. A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE RX 350 HAS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THE RACK AND PINION, BUT LEXUS IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IT WENT FLYING OFF IN THE HIGHWAY, ONE DAY AND NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER, THE OTHER ONE FLEW OFF AND ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN. THEY SAID I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE WINDOW FOR THE MOLDING. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE WINDOW COULD POSSIBLY FLY OFF AS WELL IF THE MOLDING ISN'T SOMETHING YOU CAN JUST CLIP BACK ON. THERE ARE SEVERAL WEBSITES OF THIS COMPLAINT, BUT LEXUS IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. I HAVE A MESSAGE FROM LEXUS HEADQUARTERS STATING SINCE OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT REPLACE. VARIOUS HAIRLINE CRACKS HAVE RANDOMLY APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THEY RANGE IN SIZE FROM 1" TO 6". ONE CRACK HAS APPEARED ALONG THE AREA THAT COVERS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. IT HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT HAS HAPPEN TO OTHER OWNERS. LEXUS SHOULD RECALL THESE DASH BOARDS AND REPLACE THEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WILL COST ME $1400. CERTIFIED LEXUS RX 330 DEVELOPED TWO SEPARATE DASH NOISES WITHIN ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASE. ONE OF THESE NOISE IS COMING FROM BELOW THE CENTER OF THE FRONT DEFROST VENT AND SOUNDS LIKE A PIECE OF PLASTIC IS POPPING IN AND OUT OF PLACE. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN ITS REALLY COLD (BELOW 20 DEGREES). THE OTHER NOISE IS CONSTANT AND OCCURS WHENEVER GOING OVER A BUMP. IT'S COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH BY THE SPEAKER COVER. IT SOUNDS LIKE A PIECE OF PLASTIC "CLICKING" TOGETHER AND IS VERY ANNOYING. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE CERTIFIED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER "INTERIOR NOISES".
