I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 NAVIGATOR. I BOUGHT IT FROM A PRIVATE OWNER ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. WHEN GO TO CHANGE GEARS, THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WON'T GO INTO GEAR OR IF I PUT IT IN PARK, IT SOMETIMES WON'T GO. THEN I TRIED TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN PARKING, WHICH IS WHAT I HAD TO RESORT TO DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT STAYING IN GEAR, IT ALSO WOULD NOT WORK. I WENT TO GET MY VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT PASS. SO THAT PROMPTED MY ONLINE RESEARCH AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN I CAME ACROSS THE RECALL IN FORMATION FOR THIS VEHICLE AND SIMILAR MODELS AND I SEE THAT SOME RECALLS WERE MADE, BUT NOT FOR MY VEHICLE'S YEAR. I WAS WONDERING IF MY VEHICLE'S YEAR MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN SOME OF THE OTHER RECALLS BECAUSE I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 AND THE RECALL WAS FOR A 1998 AND SO ON. UPON DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD,WITH NO AAPARENT PRELIMINARY WARNINGS, A SCREW FELL FROM UNDER MY DASH ONTO MY FEET. I DISMISSED IT AS A DASH COVER SCREW AND KEPT DRIVING. UPON REACHING MY HOME AND TRYING TO PUT MY GEARSHIFT INTO "PARK", I REALIZE THIS SCREW HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GEAR SHIFT AND LINKAGE. THE SHIFTER IS NOW LOOSE AND WILL NOT GO INTO "PARK". IF I HOLD IT TOWARDS THE "P" I AM ABLE TO GET MY KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I NOW HAVE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AND I HAVE TO START THE CAR IN "NEUTRAL". NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE UNLESS IT PROGRESSES AND THE GEARSHIFT FALLS OFF. I WILL HAVE IT FIXED BY THE DEALER TOMORROW - JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *NM
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING OUT AFTER TAKING TRAILER TO DUMP. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S A DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER FOR TRANSMISSION THAT IS ORIGINATING FROMTHE SOUTHEASTERN DISTRIBUTOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE NOT HAD THE USE OF MY VEHICLE FOR 4 WEEKS.*AK

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION "JUMPS AND SURGES" ERRATICALLY WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER FEELS AS IF VEHICLE IS GOING TO STALL. PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR. DEALER HAS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. TS
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND THE TRANSMISSION SHUT DOWN. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MR
WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 20 MPH TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT STAYS IN HIGH GEAR WHILE DECELERATING FORCING ENGINE TO STALL. DEALER CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK *YH
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 62840 MILES. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT SINCE IT WAS A FACTORY SEALED TRANSMISSION THAT FAILED THAT IT MUST BE A FACTORY DEFECT. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO A BROKEN BRAKE DISC WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. ALSO, PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. *AK
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER IT ROLLED OUT OF PARK UNOCCUPIED DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY ACCROSS THE STREET INTO OUR NEIGHBORS HOUSE. FORD DENIES ANYTHING. WE HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND VIDEO SHOWING THE CAR IN PARK UNDER A PILE OF RUBBLE. PLEASE HELP. *AK
