TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 LINCOLN TOWN CAR. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, IT BEGAN TO MAKE A JERKING MOTION AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURES RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE - 70 MPH - TRANSMISSION AUTOMATICALLY STARTED DOWNSHIFTING ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, AT 35MPH TRANSMISSION GOES NEUTRAL BEFORE CHANGING. AIR/HEAT FAILURE AFTER REPLACED HEATER CORE.GAS MONITOR INDICATES SPORATICALLY. BACK DOOR LOCKS LODGED.SUSPENSION REPLACED ONCE. FUEL LINE & RADIO REPLACED BY DEALER. FRONT RIGHT WHEEL TIGHTENS & POPS LOOSE DURING ALLIGNMENT, PULLS TO THE RIGHT ON THE ROAD. REPLACED RADIATOR, & ALTERNATOR. BATTERY WON'T HOLD CHARGE IF PARKED 2 DAYS+. AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON.
CONSUMER PUT VEHICLE INTO DRIVE GEAR WITH FOOT STILL ON BRAKES WHEN IT SUDDENLY TOOK OFF, BEGAN TO ACCELERATE , CONSUMER TRIED TO SHIFT INTO PARK, BUT GEAR WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT. CONSUMER THAN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE ,COULD HEAR ENGINE STILL RACING ,AND FINALLY TURNED OFF ENGINE, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. 2. ALSO, VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO REVERSE ON ITS OWN. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. *AK
TRANSMISSION KEEPS DROPPING OUT JUST LIKE IT HAS GONE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. ONE MUST TAKE IS OUT OF OVERDRIVE OR PULL IT INTO A LOWER GEAR THEN IT MIGHT RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION. I HAVE HAD BACK TO THE DEALER ON 11 FEB,, 29 FEB AND 14 MAR BUT EACH TIME IT HAS BEEN RETURNED TO ME SAYING IT IS OKAY, WE COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT LEAST ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER. THEY INITIALLY ADJUSTED THE MLP SENSOR, THEN THE NEXT TIME REPLACED THE MLP SENSOR AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THEN WHEN IT OCCURRED AGAIN . THEY HAVE NEVER OPENED UP THE TRANSMISSION THAT I AM AWARE OF BUT CONTEND THAT THE TRANS, DIAG TELLS THEM EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO KNOW. NEVERTHELESS, THE TRANSMISSION STILL DROPS OUT AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CORRECTED. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE THE DEFECT THAT EXISTED DURING THE WARRANTY STILL EXISTS BUT IT IS SUCH A CHORE TO TAKE IT DOWN TONW KANSAS CITY AND THEN COME BACK TWO DAYS LATER (CAR IS OKAY) AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. HELP!!

AT 43,000 MILES TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
CAR WILL DRIVE NORMALLY ON A SMOOTH ROAD AND THEN WILL SEEM LIKE A ROUGH ROAD, TORQUE CONVERTER IS DEFECTIVE, AND DEALER CONTACTED AND IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
