The contact owns a 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a manufacturer recall was performed and the front driver's side mat and accelerator pedal were replaced; however, the contact stated that while driving, the front driver's side floor mat hooks failed. As a result, the front driver's side floor mat slipped underneath the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal and almost caused an accident. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the floor mat and hooks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was closed and advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000

I WAS DRIVING AND THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED ON ITS OWN AND I WAS TERRIFIED. I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL GOING STRAIGHT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT PROVIDED WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. MASERATI OF HAWAII (888 KAPIOLANI BLVD, HONOLULU, HI 96813, (808) 585-6617) WAS NOTIFIED AND SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS WERE SCHEDULED; HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO SERVICE EACH RECALL REPAIR REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER, THEY MADE NO MENTION OF ANY RECALL CAMPAIGNS THAT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. A LOANER VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
