TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 1993 MAZDA 626. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, A DRIVER IN ANOTHER VEHICLE NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE, PULLED OVER, AND EXITED WITHOUT INJURIES. THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A POLICE LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

DURING A SHORT DRIVE ON A 2 LANE ROAD, IN THE EVENING, DURING A SNOWSTORM, THE AFOREMENTIONED VEHICLE, HAD A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE, WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR IMPENDING INDICATION. THERE WAS TOTAL & SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT (EVER) RESTART & NEEDED TO BE TOWED AWAY. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENTIRE DISTRIBUTOR ASSY. & SAYING IT IS A 'COMMON FAILURE' WITH THIS SERIES OF MAZDA VEHICLES. THIS IS A VERY SIMILIAR PRODUCT AS THE FORD PROBE, WHICH ALSO WAS RECALLED FOR IGNITION PROBLEMS. SHOULD THE DOMESTIC MADE MAZDA'S HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE FORD RECALL? IN URBAN DRIVING SITUATIONS & UNDER NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS, THIS TYPE OF FAILURE COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.*AK

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE USED TURN SIGNAL. TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS FAILED TO WORK. IN THE BEGINNING, AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. BUT NOW CONTINUOUS. TOOK TO DEALER INFORMED IT WAS ELECTRICAL, BUT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR DUE TO BEING OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS PULLING ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND THERE WAS A REAL LOUD NOISE, VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH NO INDICTATION OF A PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER ALSO STATESDOOR HANDLE WAS LOOSE HAD TO BE TIGHTEN, BATTERY WAS REPLACED, RDIO ATENNA WAS REPLACED, TIRES WERE REPLACED,WEATHER STIP ON ON DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S DOOR WAS REPLACED DUE TO BEING DEFECTIVE, AND ALSO BY PASS AIR CONTROL VALUE WAS REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE, ALSO REAR VIEW MIRROR HAD TO BE REGLUED, LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT FRONT VISOR HOLD CLIP WAS LOOSE.*JB
