As reported by others, Engine Malfunction light came on. Car running rough. Mazda dealer says corroded wiring harness and $5k to replace. They bypass the conventional repair and splice it in. Within a hour of driving after pick up, same engine malfunction light and rough running returns. This time they said I need a new transmission. Electrical issues and faulty transmission are both dangerous. With as much posted online regarding the transmission, I would hope to find a recall. $10k in repairs for a barely 4 yr old car!

Dec 5, 2024

Received a "LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL” warning message before the regular oil change interval of 7,500. Light came on 11/20/24 after purchasing the vehicle from a Mazda dealership 8/10/24 (~3 months). Model and VIN were impacted by the Mazda Valve Stem Seal Settlement. This issue was not disclosed by the dealer.

The contact owns a 2021 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The messages "Engine Malfunction" and "Computer System Issues" were displayed. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. Another driver assisted the contact in jumpstarting the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to her friend's residence. The contact then drove to her residence the following day. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle jerked and the failure recurred. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,590.

While I was driving on I-90, I lost control of the acceleration of my vehicle. The vehicle was towed and has been diagnosed with a failed transmission! The car would not accelerate or it would accelerate in bursts or rapidly slow down. I was able to pull over and the car failed to move at all after. My safety and others was put at risk as I lost the ability to control the speed of the vehicle on a road where the speed limit is 65mph in traffic around me. When the problem began no lights illuminated, until ~30 seconds in the yellow engine failure light illuminated and then the yellow transmission failure light illuminated. The car was brought to a dealership for inspection and they diagnosed it as a transmission failure. This is unacceptable for such a young vehicle (2021). It should be noted that the car manufacturer immediately approved the replacement the same day it was diagnosed (dealership said it usually takes 48 hours), but the part is back-ordered for months (probably because they know this is happening and trying to cover it up).

My oil changes were affected as well.

Jun 27, 2024

Car lunged forward when lightly stepping on the gas while making a turn onto a busy street. Then it later lagged in responding when I stepped on the gas. About 5 minutes later, the car dashboard lit up and said there was a transmission error. Mechanic's diagnosis found code P0756 for a shift solenoid B stuck off. The car is unsafe to drive.

May 20, 2024

Low engine oil light is on again, I had one at 4600 miles and keep happening every 5-6000 miles. I had 7!! oil changes on a car that is 2.5 years old and it is at 29000 miles. I am sitting at the dealership and they are telling me nothing is wrong and despite of the valve stem cap replacement available they are not willing to replace it. In addition I had my battery die and needed to be replaced at 23 months after purchasing a brand new car - due to a faulty system. This is getting extremely upsetting. And dealearships do not care.

Mar 12, 2024

On multiple occasions, low oil warning lamp illuminates and I have confirmed low oil level. Dealer is unable to confirm and refuses to address Mazda TSB because oil level is no longer low since I topped it up. The failure lies in the valve seal assembly. My safety and that of my passengers is affected because in the event of a low oil incident, my ability to safely drive the speed limit and/or accelerate quickly is compromised. Should a catastrophic failure occur, engine would lose all power. Date of most recent incident marked below.

Mar 10, 2024

Low engine oil on the turbo model. It happened several times. 16k miles.

Jan 23, 2024

I'm getting a critical engine error with the car saying I have low oil pressure. The dealership has looked and said that they can't fix it. They said I can drive it with the warning up

Jan 19, 2024

The contact owns a 2021 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated that while the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact's wife drove the vehicle to a safe location and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the independent mechanic reset the codes and the vehicle operated as intended; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed MAP sensor. The contact was informed that the MAP sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained with the dealer for nineteen days and the MAP sensor was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with needing a software update. The vehicle was at the dealer for another 34 days and the software update was completed and the PCM was replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure had been persistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.

Engine is burning an excessive amount of oil. After numerous times to the dealership Mazda has finally okay the "fix" to be done to the car. What this "fix" is I do not know.

Sep 6, 2023

Low engine oil level since I bought it in September 2021. I’ve had it at the dealer three times and they’ve said there are no codes on the car but they are on my Mazda app. They want me to drive it over a hour away with low oil to prove to them that the engine oil is low. I did this, shut the car off, the light went off and when the engine oil level was checked it read one quart low.

Sep 5, 2023

“Low engine oil level” light comes on periodically for last several hundred miles. Dipstick show oil level to be appropriate.

Aug 25, 2023

Vehicle burns oil at at much higher rate than scheduled oil changes allow.

Aug 22, 2023

The engine oil light came on several times on different days, saying that the engine oil level is low. But I had the car checked twice and there is nothing wrong the engine oil level.

Aug 9, 2023

I would like to report that I am not feeling safe driving my 2021 MAZDA CX-30 Premium anymore. My vehicle is affected by the MAZDA Technical Service Bulletin 01-003/23,. Subject: ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ON WITH DTC P250f:00 DUE TO LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL This is a known issue by MAZDA! It results in an oil consumption increase due to damage of the valve seals on the exhaust side. The first time the Engine warning light with the message "Engine Oil Level Low" was displayed on May 20, 2023. the earliest appointment to get this issue diagnoised and repaired was on 06/30/2023 at the MAZDA dealer in Augusta, ME. They diagnosed the issue but were not able to repair it, since they don't have the required level of technician as outlined in TSB 01-003/23. I then had to reach out to another MAZDA dealer, Thompson Mazda in Waterville, ME. They ignored my complaint over the phone, not accepting that this issue was already corectly diagnosed by the other MAZDA dealer in Augusta, ME. I contacted MAZDA of North America Customer Relations but didn't get any support so far. They told me the earliest date to get the vehicle diagnoesed and possibly repaired would be end of September. I told them that this is unacceptable and I don't feel safe driving the vehicle with this known issue.

Jul 20, 2023

The low engine oil warning light keeps coming on, and there’s appears to be no visible leak. I add about a quart each time this happens and it does fine for a while. The last time I took it to the dealership, I told them about it. They just said they didn’t see a leak and not to worry about it. Ultimately the issue is how will this impact the longevity of my engine?

Jan 24, 2023

I purchased a Mazda CX-30 October 2021 - in April of 2022 the oil light came on mileage 4,672 and I decided to have just have the oil changed at Hello Mazda of San Diego. They said they wouldn't charge me for the oil only the service charge. And mentioned that something is wrong and will top the oil off at no charge in the future. Last month in November I took a short trip to Tucson AZ to visit family the oil light came on once again mileage 10,079 I brought the car into Jim Click Mazda Tucson and after several hours I got the car back. They had topped off the oil with no charge. I asked how low the oil was. The service man quickly said just a little low under a quart. I didn't want to argue with him- but I checked the oil stick, and it was below a quart and I know a light most likely won't come on without it being at least a quart low.

Jan 5, 2023

Using a quart of oil every 1,500 miles. Known oil consumption issue with the 2021 Mazda CX 30 turbo 2.5 engine

Oct 22, 2022

The Low Oil Level light/sensor came on before it was time to get an oil change (the recommended 4600 miles). This is super dangerous as it can cause major engine issues. I took it to the dealership and the dealership stated "they are having problems with these cars-they are burning too much oil so there is going to be a replacement valve once they have one made and you'll need to come back in to have it replaced -it will be a big job since it's part of the engine".

Oct 6, 2022

Purchased Mazda CX-30 Turbo car new March 31, 2021, in Jan 2022 low oil light came on with only 5,000 miles. Dealer noted it was 1 qt low. Just prior to reaching 10,000 miles the low oil light came on again. This car is burning oil with normal driving; primarily from rural area into town 15 min away or freeway driving. This creates an unsafe situation with parts and engine failure.

Sep 23, 2022

Low Engine Oil displayed on dashboard after only a couple thousand miles/four months from last oil change service. Known issue with this year/model for a year (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10203724-0001.pdf), but no recall or fix has been offered other than topping off or changing the oil. The dealer did top off the oil for free as the notice says.

Sep 17, 2022

Continuous oil loss from engine. No leaks but oil level diminishes and warning lights come on monthly.

Sep 5, 2022

Identified low oil level with 5,500 miles on the odemeter. No leak detected. The car has been babied; no accidents or undercarriage damage.

Aug 23, 2022

Purchased this car on Saturday August 13th from a dealer. Last weekend on the 20th the low engine level warning came on. We checked the oil and it was at the lowest dot on the dipstick. We added one quart of oil. This car isn't even due for an oil change it shouldn't be losing any oil.

Aug 22, 2022

Losing/burning oil with no leaking - less than 8,000 miles. Mazda has issued a service bulletin on the issue but offers no actual repair solution. Could be dangerous if engine seizes while in operation.

Aug 18, 2022

engine oil low light coming on within 3000 miles of oil change

Aug 7, 2022

Oil warning light came in at 5,500 miles. Dealer says they know the engine consumes oil.

Aug 5, 2022

Engine is consuming/burning oil. I have needed to add 1 qt of oil every 3-4k miles, since purchased new. Car now has 25,000 miles and I have added oil 6 times. Ive called the dealer(Classic Mazda in Mentor Ohio) and they insist this is normal and there is no issue with the engine. Yet, I read on the internet that this is a known problem.

Aug 3, 2022

The car has been reporting low engine oil numerous times between oil changes.

Jul 30, 2022

I have just about 8800 miles on my Mazda CX-30 Turbo after a year and 5 months. Suddenly had my low oil engine light come on. I pulled over and the oil is barely on the tip of the oil stick. My last oil change, which was also my first, was completed at 4937 miles from the Mazda dealership.

Jul 26, 2022

Excessive oil consumption. I bought this vehicle new from a Mazda dealership, with factory warranty. The check engine oil light came on at approximately 6800 miles, 3750 miles after the first oil change. An additional quart of oil was added. I brought it back to Mazda to confirm no oil leaks, which they confirmed. They were made aware of the Mazda service bulletin for excessive oil consumption, which they acknowledged, but indicated they will monitor as there is no solution from the factory.

Jul 21, 2022

low oil indicator keeps coming on at 3k miles and 8k miles. some times the oil is slightly low. The manual says to sop driving immediately, but that is not always possible.

Jul 7, 2022

My car is burning a quart of oil every 1500 miles. I have taken it to the dealer three times. They say that they know about the problem but don't have a fix. I am afraid that the engine could seize up during driving, causing a accident.

Jun 20, 2022

Driving home from work today I got a "low engine oil level" alert/warning. First time this has happened. I have approx. 15,500 miles on my vehicle and it was serviced on 3/22/22 (11,828 miles). That service included a full oil and filter change. I see it has been noted that there is an oil leak with this particular vehicle but Mazda has not been able to figure out what is causing it. Just wanted it to be reported

Jun 15, 2022

Low engine oil light came on at 4600 miles. Brand new vehicle. Excessive consumption of oil known issue with this make/model

Jun 15, 2022

Low engine oil light came on at 8990 miles. Bought vehicle brand new. Has occurred before with this same vehicle. Excessive oil consumption is a known issue with this make/model

Jun 4, 2022

Low engine oil pressure light came on forcing me to stop driving the vehicle. Upon investigation, engine oil level was a full quart low of oil, despite no leaks and only having 8000 miles.

May 25, 2022

I have the 2.5 liter turbocharged engine in my CX-30. It currently has approximately 18,000 miles after a little over a year of ownership. So far I have had to put in 3 quarts of oil in that time. The engine/low oil indicator comes on about every 4,000 miles. When I check the oil, it shows that it is down a quart. I have taken it in for regular service (oil and filter, tire rotation) twice now, and have brought this to the attention of the service advisor who tells me that this is normal for turbo engines. I disagree with this assessment. I will bring it up again later this week when it goes in for its third service. No new car should consume oil at the rate this one does. I have also observed blue smoke from the exhaust on start-up. I owned another turbo Mazda model a few years ago that did not do this. I have found what appears to be a technical service bulletin from Mazda regarding all turbocharged 2021 models built prior to September 2021. (TSB-01-012-21) My greatest concern is that this will only become worse and end up causing major damage to the engine and/or make the car unsafe to drive.

May 16, 2022

Low engine oil after 4630 miles!

Apr 4, 2022

The contact owns a 2021 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated that the low engine oil warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the app used for alerting vehicle failure also notified the contact of the failure. The failure occurred twice. The dealer was contacted and informed her that it was a known issue however, there was no recall. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 3,100.

Mileage: 3,100

Mar 23, 2022

While driving, Low Engine Oil light illuminated. Vehicle has 9968 miles at time of incident and had one oil change at 5873 miles. So in the span of 4095 miles, engine had burned enough oil that none was showing on dipstick at time of incident. Vehicle was taken to dealership where it was confirmed that there were no leaks and the engine was consuming oil at a rapid rate. Mazda has issued a bulletin to dealerships concerning this issue, so the company is aware a problem exists with this engine. Had the oil level decreased to a low enough level, the engine could have feasibly failed, which could have resulted in a dangerous situation if it happened on the highway or in heavy traffic. Mazda currently has no fix and encourages that oil be added when necessary. Given the unpredictable frequency of the oil consumption, this does not feel like a safe solution, putting the onus entirely on the owner.

Feb 9, 2022

At about 3,605 miles, I received a low engine oil warning. The car is only 4 months old. When i took the car to the dealer, apparently there is a TSB that was issued in October 2021 about the problem. I bought the car in November was not advised of this issue. At this time, it appears at this time Mazda is unable to determine the root cause. It appears that I am to take the vehicle to the dealer every time I have this experience. I am worried about the potential impact and the lifespan of the engine.

Jan 23, 2022

Multiple warning messages came on including "Pus button start malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected." "In-vehicle network malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected." "Auto light system malfunction. Turn on/off lights manually." "Power steering malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected." "Driver attention alert disabled." Vehicle would not start after this and had to be towed to a Mazda dealership.

Dec 24, 2021

Low engine oil light displayed at 7,030 miles. No leaks detected. Engine consuming oil burning in combustion chamber. Possible engine damage or failure if oil was not quickly refilled.

Oct 28, 2021

The contact leased a 2021 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start up after multiple attempts with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that an unauthorized independent tow company towed the vehicle to a dealer two hours away from her home and that the vehicle was stolen from the dealer's lot. A police report was filed. The contact then stated that the vehicle was recovered and returned to the same dealer. The battery was replaced, and the vehicle was towed to an auto body shop to repair the damage to the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 2,100. The VIN was not available.
