The vehicle's air conditioner expansion valve is defective/malfunctioning. While driving the vehicle with the air conditioning operating a loud whooting noise fills the interior of the vehicle. The noise sounds like the siren/hooting sound the police make when they want you to pull over or get out of their way. But the sound is loud and comes from inside the car jarring the driver and passengers. I purchased the car in early 2017 new. I first noticed the AC issue in the summer of 2018. I brought it up to Herzog-meir mazda (where i bought the car) when scheduling an oil change. they said they could not replicate it and so there was nothing they could do. I brought it to them at least 4 times with the same issue. Each time they sent me on my way and said they couldn't replicate it. I brought it up to Foothills Mazda in Spokane in 2023 and again they said that they couldn't replicate it and sent me on my way. This past august i had to schedule the car for an update covered by a class action lawsuit and had them look at the noise issue again. Prior to scheduling I has research online if others have had the issue and low and behold lots of mazda owners have. It is a known issue that mazda has created a "helpline" to deal with it. So I brought it up while scheduling it and asked to make sure they researched the AC expansion valve prior to my appointment (more than a month out). The Mazda lady that scheduled my appointment heard the noise several times with I was idiling the car and finishing scheduling the appointment. The first available appointment wasn't until Oct 1st so of course it wasn't hot enough outside to replicate the situation that causes the noise. My 2016 Mazda CX-5 has had ongoing issues with the infotainment. It freezes up in cold weather and the screen goes blank for long periods of time. This has been an ongoing issue with Mazda vehicles. I had to replace the SD Card in December 2024. The cost was $326.50. There is currently a class action lawsuit by Frederick Law Group 836 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, Pa 15701, Phone number 724-801-8555. When the infotainment goes out during phone calls or navigation, it is a distraction while driving. I called Mazda and chatted with Travius about this issue and forwarded by receipt for the part. He said Mazda would not reimburse me. Can the NHTSA help in getting the reimbursement do you have any suggestions?

My infotainment screen for my Mazda CX5 has bubbles on it. I contacted Mazda and they said this is an issue that many people have complained about, but there is no recall. The screen on the inside has a screen protector that is peeling off and eventually I will not be able to use my touchscreen. There should be a recall or an investigation into this issue. Please help or let me know where I can get more information. I should not have to pay $900 for a new screen kit.

Ghost Touch on infotainment system. The infotainment system will randomly make selections - make calls, change gps location destination, change settings, turn off screen, give verbal instructions, etc while driving. This is very distracting and can be a safety issue.

The 'Infotainment' system in my car stopped functioning which in turn disabled the back-up camera. Mazda knew about this issue, which has been widely acknowledged as a manufacturer's defect in the system, shortly after my purchase of these vehicle. They took responsibility for this issue in the Seattle area when a large number of these units all became defective at once. However, they seemingly went out of their way to not acknowledge this issue to the rest of their customers. They issued a TSB to their dealers (tech service bulletin 09-017/17) to help them resolve the issue with any dealer inventories, but there was no notice to customers nor any recall. The absence of the rear view camera is a safety issue that I believe should have been addressed.

My 2016 Mazda CX5 lost the main computer. This powers the nav system, radio, apps associated with the vehicle but most importantly, the rear view camera. As a result, the back up camera does not work properly due to the computer system remaining in a reboot mode. When I initially reported the problem to Mazda they indicated that they would order the part. They claimed supply chain issues and as a result, kept pushing the replacement delivery date forward. It has been over a year and was just advised there is another 4-5 months wait time. My wife and I have been very patient but recently, events took a turn for the worse. The car must have been designed with the rear view camera as a solution in the reduced visibility of the actual car design. My wife came close to backing into a child. This has scared us now and unfortunately the car can’t be traded in without taking a financial hit. There has been no real answer why this part is taking 1.5 years for delivery but we can’t believe the lack pf attention that Mazda has placed on our concerns. This is absolutely a safety issue and someone needs to investigate if this is happening with many of these vehicles. I would hate to see someone lose their life due to corporate neglectfor safety. KEYLESS IGNITION -- THE PANIC BUTTON WENT OFF INADVENTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND THE SOUND SYSTEM WENT OFF AND THE CAR STOPPED WORKING. THE KEYLESS IGNITION WAS LOCATED IN THE CUP HOLDER. iT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND CALLED AAA.

I was driving down the highway when my moonroof suddenly and unexpectedly “exploded.” I quickly came to the conclusion that it didn’t happen due to an external cause; I hadn’t gone under an overpass and there weren’t any other vehicles nearby that could have caused an object to hit my car. The weather had been clear that day, and my car had been parked in the shade prior to this happening. When I got to my destination a few minutes later, I could see the glass had broken outward.

As I was driving to work, the moonroof window exploded causing glass to fly every where. Thankfully, I had my sunshade closed so no glass came into the vehicle. Had it been open, I would have been hit by glass shards. There had been no damage to the moonroof window previously, no cracks or issues that I was aware of. While attempting to get it repaired, I was told that this had happened on the same type of vehicle one other time that the shop was aware of. I am currently waiting to hear back from Mazda regarding replacement/repair for the moonroof.

AT 38,000 MILES THE AC WENT OUT, WOULD NOT BLOW COLD AIR. HAD IT INVESTIGATED, AND TH SYSTEMS NEEDED A REFRESH. DYE WAS USED TO DETERMINE WHAT MAY BE LEAKING, NONE FOUND. HOWEVER A YEAR LATER SAME ISSUE- CONFIRMED THROUGH TSBS THAT MAZDA EVAPORATORS HAD POOR BRAZING AND COULD DEVELOP SLOW LEAKS. THAT IS THE CASE WITH THIS CAR, AND NOW THE COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED, LIKELY DUE TO LOW COOLANT LEVELS FROM THE LEAK. MAZDA NOT WILLING TO SUPPORT THIS ISSUE.

WE DID NOT KNOW AT FIRST WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND IT WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING AS THE SOUND WAS VERY LOUD. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF--CRACKS, ETC. AND IT WAS A FACTORY-INSTALLED SUNROOF. AS YOU WILL SEE FROM THE PHOTOS, THE GLASS EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THIS EVENT AND ALL CHECKS OF THE CAR WERE NORMAL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE LAST EVENT WAS YESTERDAY, MAY 24, 2020. I HAVE READ OF OTHER OWNERS OF THIS 2016 GRAND TOURING CX-5 MAZDA TO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO ACTION ON THE PART OF MAZDA. IT WAS THE SUNROOF THAT EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON OUR 2016 MAZDA CX-5 PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 28, 2015 AND CURRENTLY WITH 62,000+ MILES ON IT. FORTUNATELY, THE UNDERLYING SUNROOF PANEL WAS CLOSED, SO NONE OF THE GLASS FRAGMENTS ENDED UP IN HER FACE/ARMS/CHEST, WHICH, IF HAPPENED, COULD HAVE ALSO CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY THE SOUND OF BROKEN GLASS. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY WHEN THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED AND I DID NOT SEE OR FIND ANY OBJECTS THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK. THE REMAINING PARTS OF THE SUNROOF WERE DIRECTED OUTWARD FROM THE VEHICLE, INDICATING THAT IT HAD EXPLODED OUTWARD. IT WAS A HOT DAY (90+ DEGREES) AND THE AC WAS ON IN THE VEHICLE. AND WHEN THE SUNROOF BROKE THERE WAS A VERY LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND. IT IS ALSO INTERESTING TO NOTE THE THE GLASS WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED INTO SMALL PIECES, MANY OF WHICH FELL INTO THE CABIN.

A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWED SEVERAL OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE AND A WEBSITE SHOWS THIS ISSUE ALSO HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST WITH OTHER 2016 MODELS THAT HAVE HAD RECALLS (MAZDA6). SO FAR MAZDA DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.

LARGE FISH HOOK SHAPED CRACK ON WINDSHIELD OF MY 2016 MAZDA CX-5 WITH 23000 MLES. THE CRACK APPEARED ON A 55 DEGREE MORNING AFTER I PULLED MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE AND DROVE HALF A BLOCK TO A STOP SIGN AND I WATCHED THE CRACK APPEAR. THE CRACK STARTS AT THE TOP CENTER EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD GOES DOWN ABOUT 6 INCHES, THEN GOES INTO THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. IT WAS ABOUT 18 INCHES THAT MORNING AND HAS GROWN TO ABOUT 30 INCHES AND A HUGE FISH HOOK SHAPE IN THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS CAUSED BY A STONE IMPACT. IT WAS NOT AN IMPACT, I SHOULD KNOW, I WAS DRIVING. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN IF IT IS A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD OR INSTALLATION AT THE FACTORY. WITH A LITTLE RESEARCH I AM SEEING A LOT OF CX-5 OWNERS ARE REPORTING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE WINDSHIELDS CRACKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THE NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE.

DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE CAR TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN DECLINING IN SPEEDS. EVEN CORPORATE AGREED WITH THEM. THE ONLY THING THAT IS NOT NORMAL IS HOW COME AWD VARIATION DOESN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE? MY OLDER MAZDA 3 FROM 2009 I DROVE DIDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. TESTED A MAZDA 3 NEW 2018 AND THEY HAD THIS ISSUE. ALSO TESTED A SALES DEPARTMENT 2016 FWD CX 5, SIMILAR ISSUE. MY FRIEND WHO IS A PHYSOCLOGIST, HER CX 5 2016 HAS THE SAME TUGGING ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAID IT COULD BE A TORQUE CONVERTER/TRANSMISSION/ OR COLD WEATHER WITHIN TH TRANSMISSION LINES. NO ERROR CODES WERE PRESENT WHEN THEY CHECKED. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE SEEMS VERY DEGRADING FOR THE NEWER MODELS. THE ABRUPT TUGGING COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO SOMEONE AHEAD OF ME OR THE JERKING COULD MAKE ME HIT THE GAS PEDAL EVEN HARDER. TODAY WHILE SHOPPING I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE, THAT WAS PARKED FACING A STOREFRONT, TO SEE A 14.5 INCH CRACK ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CRACK OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S LINE OF VISION. I CONSIDER TWO SMALL STONES CAUSING DAMAGE UNUSUAL. I'VE BEEN DRIVING OVER 45 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER DAD TO REPAIR OR REPLACE A WINDSHIELD.

THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. I AGREE WITH COMPLAINTS 1090985 AND 10885776 IN THAT IT SEEMS TO BE FINE 90% OF THE TIME, WHICH LULLS YOU INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. NOW, I MAKE SURE THAT HE LIGHTS FLASH AS I WALK AWAY. I HAD TURNED OFF THE CHIRP BECAUSE IT DISTURBS THE PEACE, BUT MAY TURN IT BACK ON, SINCE WALKING AWAY AND LOOKING BACK ALSO HAS ITS RISKS. I COULD BE WALKING AWAY TOO QUICKLY SOMETIMES OR SOMETHING ELSE IN MY POCKET MAY BE SHIELDING THE KEY FOB, BUT IF OTHERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, MAYBE IT IS NOT A USER ISSUE. PERHAPS THE OWNER'S MANUAL SHOULD MENTION THESE POSSIBILITIES, IF THEY INDEED ARE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. AN UNLOCKED CAR IS A SERIOUS SECURITY RISK.

THEN ANOTHER LOUD POP AND THE CRACK APPEARED DOWN THE MIDDLE TOWARD PASSENGER SIDE FROM THE CHIP. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND THAT COULD'VE CAUSED THE DAMAGE (I.E. DEBRIS OR CONSTRUCTION TRUCKS, ETC) AND I WASN'T GOING FAST ENOUGH THAT COULD CAUSE THE CHIP AND CRACK THAT BIG. NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH PRIOR CARS I'VE OWNED. YES, I MIGHT HAVE HAD CHIPS HERE AND THERE BUT NEVER CRACKED SO EASILY LIKE THE CURRENT ONE, ESPECIALLY AT THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING.

MAZDA DEALER FOUND CODE B00A0 FOR PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM. THEY RESET THE CODE AND TESTED AIR BAG SYSTEM, THEY STATED THAT ALL SYSTEMS PASS TEST. ON 10/16/2017, AIR BAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE WARNING BEEPING START UP WHILE DRIVING ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT OCCUPIED. I CONSIDERED THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED TO BE REPORTED. I RECORDED VIDEOS.

WHEN CALLING TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR, MAZDA DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR AND HAS NO TIMELINE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE RECEIVED. SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENED ON 4/30 AT AROUND 10:30AM, 280 SOUTHBOUND ABOUT 1/2 MILE BEFORE THE MILLBRAE EXIT. SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD BOMB NOISE THEN FOUND OUT MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED INTO MANY PIECES. I HAD THE SHADE OPENED ABOUT 2 INCHES, SOME OF THE GLASS PIECES GOT BLOWN INTO THE CABIN. ONE PIECE OF THE GLASS PIERCE INTO THE ARMREST. THERE WERE NO OVERPASS, OR LARGE TRUCK AROUND MY CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I COULD BE 100% SURE IT WASN'T HIT BY ANY EXTERNAL OBJECT. MY WIFE, MY 10MONTH OLD SON AND I WERE IN THE CAR. IF THE SHADE WAS FULLY OPENED, THE SHATTERED GLASS PIECES WOULD HAVE GOT INTO OUR FACE AND EYES. OR EVEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILL MY 10 MONTHS OLD SON. I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THERE ARE MANY CASES OF SUNROOF EXPLODING. PLEASE NHTSA, YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE MASS AND PUT PRESSURE ON THE MANUFACTURERS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.

DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 63 MPH, HEAT WAS ON IN VEHICLE, ALL WINDOWS CLOSED. VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. HUGE EXPLOSION IN CABIN, GLASS FLYING ALL OVER. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY, FOUND THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WITH THE SUNSHADE PARTITION OPEN. THE GLASS WAS PROTRUDING UPWARD. NO INDICATIONS OF A ROCK OR OTHER ITEM STRIKING THE WINDOW. WE HAD GLASS SHARDS IN OUR SCALP THAT WE PICKED OUT AFTER REPEATED WASHINGS. OUR HANDS WERE CUT TRYING TO CLEAR OUT THE REMAINING BROKEN GLASS. NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF. THE SUNROOF HADN'T BEEN USED THE DAY OF THE EXPLOSION.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN DECEMBER 2016. I HIT THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VECHILE AND MY PASSENGER FRONT BY THE TIRE WAS DAMAGED.THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG CAME OUT WHICH IT SHOULD NOT HAVE DUE TO THE MINIMAL DAMAGE TO OF THE CAR. I WILL ATTACH THE ESTIMATE TO THIS COMPLAINT. SINCE THIS WAS AROUND THE HOLIDAYS I KNEW MY CAR WOULD BE DELAYED. THIS WAS BY FAR THE WORST EXPIERENCE I HAVE DEALT WITH FOR A MONTH AND HALF AND TODAY I REALIZED MAZDA'S NEGLIGENCE PLAYED A HUGE ROLE WITH EXPENSE AND STRESS OF MY CAR. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE ABOUT A RECALL ON THE SIDE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I THINK MADZA SHOULD BE RESPONIBLE FOR PAYING THE DAMAGES OF MY AIRBAG COMING OUT AND ALSO THE LABOR, TIME AND RENTAL EXPENSES FOR THE DELAY OF MY CAR. I CAN NOT BELIEVE I'M FINDING OUT 4 MONTHS LATER THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL. IF I KNEW THIS I WOULD OF HAD MAZDA FIX MY CAR TO BEGIN WITH INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH SO MUCH STRESS. THE DELAY OF MY CAR BEING FIXED WAS DUE TO THE FACT THE AUTO SHOP COULD NOT FIX MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT AND HAD TO HAVE THE ADJUSTER COME BACK OUT TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ALSO NEEDED TO GET THE TECHNICIAN TO COME OUT TO HELP THE PROGRAM AND THEY JUST COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT. ONCE THEY FIGURED IT OUT MY AIR/HEAT WASN'T COMING ON, NONE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD WORK. THIS CAUSED ME TO GO BACK TO THE AUTO BODY SHOP FOR ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT MY CAR WITH A RENTAL. I BLAMED GEICO AND THE AUTO BODY SHOP BUT MAZDA IS RESPONIBLE. I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS PROCESS. I'M VERY DISSAPPOINTED.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO MAZDA AT SANSONE RT 1 AUTOMALL AVENEL, NJ 732-587-1100 TO HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM ADDRESSED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS IS HAPPENING SINCE HAVING BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. THE REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL FOR THE SAME ISSUE LAST YEAR. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT ONE WAS INSTALLED, THE WHEEL IS PEELING AGAIN. THIS IS A LEASED VEHICLE AND I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE FINED ON THE RETURN PART AT THE END OF THE AGREEMENT. I DO NOT WEAR RINGS, I AM NOT MARRIED, AND I DO NOT USE CHEAP SOAP/HAND CREAM BECAUSE THEY ASKED ME IF I DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS. IT IS PEELING IN THE SAME SPOT AND GETS WORSE OVER TIME FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF TURNING THE WHEEL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND IT HAS NOT GAINED ENOUGH ATTENTION YET OR OTHER CONSUMERS MAY NOT REALIZE THIS IS A PROBLEM. MAZDA CORPORATE WAS AT MY DEALER WHEN THIS WAS LOOKED AT ON THE 16TH AND GAVE ME THE RESPONSE NOTATED IN THE THIRD PICTURE ATTACHED. I DO LOVE MY MAZDA. I ENJOY THE VEHICLE. I JUST WANT A SOLUTION TO THIS STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM SO IT CAN BE NORMAL LIKE ALL THE OTHER PARTS OF MY CAR. I KEEP MY VEHICLE CLEAN AND WELL KEPT. ABOUT 10% OF THE TIME, THE "WALK AWAY" AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FEATURE FAILS TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE REMAINS UNLOCKED. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THAT THE SENSORS DON'T DETECT THAT THE DOOR(S) HAS BEEN CLOSED, AND THE SYSTEM FAILS TO ENGAGE AS NORMALLY INDICATED BY AN AUDIBLE BEEP UPON DOOR CLOSURE. THIS IS NOT DUE TO THE DOORS NOT BEING CLOSED FULLY. OPENING AND RECLOSING ANY DOOR (SOMETIMES TWICE) ACTIVATES THE SYSTEM. UNFORTUNATELY WE DON'T ALWAYS REALIZE THAT THE SYSTEM DIDN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY AND RETURN TO AN UNLOCKED CAR. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM UPON INSPECTION.

I PARKED MY 2 MONTH OLD CX-5 IN THE GARAGE, CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED, BY THE TIME I GOT TO WORK THE CRACK HAD SPREAD, WITHIN 3 DAYS IT WAS HALF WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT GLASS REPLACEMENT COMPANIES AND 1 BODY SHOP AND ALL 3 PLACES SAID THE CRACK WAS BODY FRAME RELATED, I.E. NOT MY FAULT. I TOOK IT THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD BE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR IT WOULD COST $750 TO REPLACE. TO MAKE IT MORE OF AN INCONVIENCE THERE ARE ONLY 3 OR 4 PLACES YOU CAN GET HE FACTORY WINDSHIELDS FROM AND THEY ARE ON THE EAST COAST ON BACK ORDER (MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM THERE) FOR A MONTH.

I CAME OUT TO MY 1 MONTH OLD MAZDA CX-5 THIS MORNING TO FIND THE CONTENTS OF MY GLOVE BOX AND CONSOLE STREWN ABOUT THE INTERIOR CABIN. CLEARLY THE CAR HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO, BUT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF FORCIBLE ENTRY. I RELY ON THE WALK-AWAY LOCK FUNCTION TO LOCK MY CAR WHEN I EXIT THE VEHICLE (AS DESCRIBED BY THE DEALER & OWNER'S MANUAL). LATER THE SAME MORNING I TESTED THE AUTOLOCK AFTER DRIVING THE CAR, AND THEN PUTTING IT IN PARK AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. I WALKED AWAY FROM THE CAR WITH THE KEYFOB IN MY HANDBAG AND HAD SOMEONE STAND NEXT TO THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND CHECK THE CAR DOOR HANDLE -- THE CAR DID NOT LOCK. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE MAZDA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE AUTOLOCK MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN DEFEATED IN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SETTINGS. I CHECKED THE SETTINGS AS THEY DIRECTED AND ALL OF THE AUTOLOCK FEATURES WERE TOGGLED IN THE ON POSITION. THE SERVICE REP ALSO SUGGESTED THAT THE AUTOLOCK WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY IF YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE CAR TOO QUICKLY.

PURCHASED NEW 2016 MADACX5 IN APRIL 2015. WIFE WAS PULLING INTO THE GARAGE AND WAS ABOUT STOPPED WHEN IT LUNGED FORWARD STRIKING THE BACK WALL OF THE GARAGE. CAR WAS MOVING AT LESS THAN A MILE PER HOUR WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE.DAMAGE DONE TO VEHICLE AND GARAGE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHO KEPT THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AND MONITORED IT FOR A WEEK. THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. MAZDA TOLD ME TO RETURN MY LOANER AND PICK UP MY VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM IT WAS UNSAFE. THEY WILL GIVE ME A DEAL ON A NEW VEHICLE. I WAS OUTSIDE WHEN MY WIFE ENTERED THE GARAGE AND WITNESSED THE INCIDENT.

ANYONE CAN START AND STEAL ANY NEW MAZDA THRU THIS METHOD! ASSUME YOU'RE CONNECTED USING MAZDA REMOTE - KEY-FOB OR MOBILE. IT'S REGISTERED TO YOUR CAR. SO, WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTON/SCREEN IT SENDS "WHATEVER" TO TRANSMITTER. TRANSMITTER'S INPUT SIDE IS COUPLED EXCLUSIVELY WITH THAT ITEM AND SO TRANSMITTER RECOGNIZES IT AS AUTHENTIC. NOW, HERE'S WHERE THE SECURITY CHAIN BREAKS. TRANSMITTER'S OUTPUT SIDE, SENDS A SET VOLT(?), SHORTS(?), SERIES OF SIGNALS(?) INTO THE COUPLER OF THE CAR TO WHICH IT'S CONNECTED. THE WHITE 3-PRONG CONNECTOR - PASSENGER SIDE. IF URY-RIG THAT COUPLER AND SENT THE SAME SET OF OUTPUT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTS UP ANYONE WITH A DECENT MEASURING TOOL CAN CAPTURE THE TRANSMITTER'S OUTPUT WHEN ITS SENDING BY REMOVING THE CONNECTION FROM THE WHITE JACK AND CONNECTING IT TO HIS/HER TOOL BOX. ONCE DONE, IT'LL WORK ACROSS ALL CX(X) SERIES. THAT'S WHY THE REMOTE KEY-FOBS ARE SO EXPENSIVE @ MAZDA. THEY HAVE ALL THE SECURITY LOGIC, THE TRANSMITTER'S RATHER DUMB. BUT: I KNOW AFTER I HAVE REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, AS SOON AS I OPEN THE DOOR, THE CAR SHUTS DOWN. HERE HOWEVER, IMPOSER WAS ALREADY INSIDE THE CAR. SO, THAT SECURITY FEATURE HE WAS ABLE TO BYPASS.

2016 WITH LESS THAN 900 MILES AND A MONTH OLD. STARTED TO HESITATE WHEN PLACING IT IN DRIVE (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR IT HESITATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS BEFORE JUMPING INTO GEAR AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY ARE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION BUT THAT WILL TAKE A WHILE. THEY SAID THAT THE MAZDA TECHS HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE AND WANT TO LOOK AT MY TRANSMISSION. DID RESEARCH ON THE WEB AND FOUND THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

BOUGHT 2016 CX-5 MID-SEPT, THEN STARTED EXPERIENCING 5-SECOND LAGS AFTER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE IN LATE DEC (APPROX 4,000 MILES ON VEHICLE). THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AND JERK, AS IF IT HAD BEEN IN NEUTRAL, DESPITE PRESSING DOWN ACCELERATOR GENTLY OR FULLY. ON NEW YEARS' DAY THE CAR WAS UNRELIABLE FROM A STOP, EVEN AFTER A MINUTE PRESSING ACCELERATOR IN DRIVE. 5 WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH INCLUDING AT, ENGINE, TRANSAXLE WARNING, AND EMERGENCY, DRIVE ACTED LIKE NEUTRAL, SO IT WAS DANGEROUS TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION AFTER A STOP LIGHT. COULDN'T GET ABOVE 2000 RPM, AND THAT AFTER A SLOW RAMP-UP. STILL WORKED FINE IN REV WHICH ELIMINATED SOME POSSIBILITIES LIKE TRANS FLUID. CHECK IN WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MAZDA HAMILTON IMPORTS IN NJ 609-587-7600 TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE!

I HAVE A FULLY LOADED CX5 GRAND TOURING 2016 ---WHICH AFTER DRIVING 500 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHEN PUTTING THE GEAR IN DRIVE, THE CAR DID NOT MOVE--AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. AFTER A BIT, IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD INTO DRIVE--WHICH WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY SIMILAR TO OTHER REPORTS ON THIS SITE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I BECAME STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM MY DRIVEWAY SINCE IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS ORDERED FROM MAZDA AND INSTALLED. I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK AFTER 2 WEEKS. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WEEK, APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 200 MILES, I EXPERIENCED A "CREAKING" NOISE WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL FROM A PARKED OR STOPPED POSITION. NOW I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE CONTROL ARM HAS FAILED AND HAS BEEN ORDERED FROM MAZDA. HOW COULD ALL OF THIS BE FAILING ON A BRAND NEW CAR? IT IS VERY UPSETTING AND PREPLEXING. PLEASE INVESTIAGE WHAT IS GOING ON HERE--

I AM SO UPSET WITH MAZDA RIGHT NOW. I HAVE A FULLY LOADED CX-5 GRAND TOURING WITH EVERYTHING THAT COULD BE ADDED. HOWEVER, MY NAVIGATION HAD BEEN RECALLED WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK AND 2 WEEKS LATER I HAD A HUGE CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK IS THE WEIRDEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. MY DEALER SAID IT HAD TO BE A ROCK, BUT I PARKED MY CAR AND AFTER SCHOOL I CAME OUT TO THIS REALLY LONG CRACK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND MANY OF US ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD IS ON BACK ORDER AND IS SUPER EXPENSIVE. THIS IS CRAZY AND MAZDA SHOULD PAY AT LEAST HALF OF THE PRICE. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A CAR. I HAVE HAD 5 MAZDA'S AND THIS ONE IS A LEMON.

AUTOMOBILE WAS ALMOST BRAND NEW, DIDN'T EVEN HAVE LICENSE PLATES ON IT YET, WHEN I PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. THE VEHICLE BACKED OUT BUT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD IN DRIVE. IT FINALLY LURCHED INTO DRIVE AFTER GIVING IT MORE GAS AND REVVING THE ENGINE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT, AGAIN SAME ISSUE. WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN DRIVE, EVEN IN MANUAL SHIFT MODE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED. MAZDA STATED THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. I AM REPORTING IN CASE THEIR ARE OTHERS HAVING THIS ISSUE. VERY THANKFUL IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC.

TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CONTACTED A MAZDA REP WHO AGREED IT WAS A DEFECT. I WAS RELIEVED TO HEAR THAT, BUT VERY DISSATISFIED THAT THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IS ON BACK ORDER FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED BADLY ENOUGH THAT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE LETTING MY PREGNANT WIFE DRIVE IT. WE BOUGHT THIS LARGER VEHICLE TO FIT A BABY CARRIER, NOW THE BABY WILL BE HERE BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS PUTS US IN A TIGHT SPOT, WE HAVE A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WE CAN NOT DRIVE. I UNDERSTAND THE DEALERSHIPS NOT AT FAULT AND THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY, AND HELPFUL. I AM GLAD THEY AGREED TO REPLACE IT, BUT STILL OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 3 MONTHS WITHOUT A RENTAL IS CRAZY.

THERE ARE NO VISIBLE CHIPS ON THE GLASS. THE CRACK SPREAD OUTWARD FROM WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS ATTACHED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FACTORY INSTALLATION OR DEFECTIVE PART ISSUE.
