Once you get to 70mph it starts shaking like if a the wheels will fall off.
In 2017 had my front control arms replaced after the driver side CV arm came off of the axle due to a recall. 5 years later (about 30k miles) the same exact situation happened now with the passenger side making a left turn. Thankfully both times I didn’t cause an accident but came close due to the wheel coming off of the axle. Brought to dealership, they had to get approval from corporate for the repair. Got a call 6 days later saying corporate denied the goodwill repair due to being “normal wear and tear” and they told me to call corporate. Just called corporate and they say that the dealership makes that decision. I shouldn’t have to pay for something that was recalled, repaired, and happened again 100% in the same fashion. Normal wear and tear on a CV arm is not 20-30k miles.

MY CONTROL ARMS BEARINGS AND JOINTS ARE RUSTED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY AREN'T COVERED THEY WERE FIXED 5 YEARS AGO AND THEY ARE DEFINITELY SEPARATED AND HAZARDOUS
WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR WITHIN 30 DAYS THE AXLE BROKE THEY FIXED IT BUT I HAVEN'T HAD THE CAR FOR 4 MONTHS AND NOW THE TRANSFER CASE IS CRACKED THEY WANT ME TO PAY 800 DOLLARS TO FIX IT BUT I DID NOTHING WRONG HE HASN'T FIXED MY KEY AFTER HE SAID HE WILL HE STATED AFTER THE AXLE WAS FIXED THAT HE NEEDED TO ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH HE DID NOT EVER ADD AND NOW MY TRANSFER CASE IS BROKE I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A LARGE BOOM I THOUGHT THE AXLE BROKE AGAIN AND THE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON SO I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK AND NOW THEY TELLING ME IT'S MY FAULT THAT IT HAPPENED I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT DRIVE THE CAR I BROUGHT THE CAR SEPTEMBER 5TH 2019 I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK BECAUSE THE SEAT WOULDN'T WORK THE AXLE BROKE NOW THE OTHER ISSUE

WE BOUGHT OUR CAR ON A DEALER IN MESA, IT WAS STATIONARY. AFTER WE BOUGHT IT WE NOTICED LOCKS MOVING ON THEIR OWN WINDOWS ROLLING DOWN SO DID THE MOON ROOF. WHEN WE TURN OFF THE ENGINE THE A/C TURNS ON EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE CAR LOCKS ITSELF LEAVING US OUTSIDE. WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES THEY KEEP LOOSING UP MAKING THE CAR VIBRATE AND MAKING SOUNDS LIKE BANGING ON THE TIRES

ON TUESDAY MAY 31, 2016 I TOOK MY MAZDA CX9 TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL, REFERENCE ##15V451000. I TOLD THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I WAS GLAD TO BE BRINGING THE CAR IN AS IT WAS MAKING NOISES IN THE DRIVER FRONT AND THAT THE STEERING SEEMED LOOSE. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS INSPECTED, DID NOT REQUIRE THE RECALL AND THAT ALL SUSPENSION PARTS WERE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. ON SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2016 WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING MY 2 CHILDREN AND ELDERLY MOTHER, MY BALL JOINT AND LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY ON RAMP. I WAS INFORMED BY POLICE THAT I WAS LUCKY THIS HAD NOT OCCURRED MOMENTS LATER (AT HIGH SPEED) AS IT WAS LIKELY TO HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE OR POSSIBLY FATAL ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVE ABLE AND REQUIRED ME TOW MY VEHICLE AND FIND ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION.

WHEN DRIVING UNDER 20 MPH ENTERING INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, HEARD A LOUD "POP" - THEN THE FRONT LEFT TIRE SUSPENSION 'POPPED OFF' THE TIRE, CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE CONTROL AND HIT THE CURB WITH THE RIGHT TIRE. IT APPEARS THAT THE SUSPENSION JUST "POPPED OFF" THE JOINT CAUSING THE TIRE TO BECOME 'DISLODGED' FROM THE VEHICLE - AND SENT THE CAR INTO THE CURB - SEE PICTURES. NO POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AS IT DID NOT INVOLVE PERSONAL INJURY NOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION ON THE WEB, IT APPEARS THAT NHTSA HAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION INTO SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2007/2008 MAZDA CX-9S (SEE ACTION NUMBER: PE15022) - WHICH IS WHY I AM WRITING TO YOU NOW.

WHILE TAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN IN THE PARKING LOT OF LOGAN AIRPORT, AND TRAVELLING ABOUT 5-10 MPH, MY CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND CAME TO A SUDDEN AND ABRUPT HALT. I STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR AND DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE STEERING ARM. THE CAR WAS IMMOBILIZED, AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE AIRPORT PARKING LOT, CAUSING CHAOS IN THE PARKING LOT AND CAUSING THEM TO TEMPORARILY SHUT DOWN AN ENTIRE FLOOR OF THE PARKING LOT WHILE THEY STRUGGLED TO TOW THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY. THE CAR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND THE TIRE ARMS AND BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED PURSUANT TO A RECALL (8515G). THE FRONT TIRES WERE ALSO UNEVENLY WORN AND REPLACED, VERY LIKELY FROM THE BALL JOINT / STEERING ARM ISSUE, AND COST $481.55. MAZDA WOULD NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE TIRES BECAUSE I COULD NOT LOCATE RECEIPTS TO PROVE I HAD ROTATED THE TIRES AT THE APPROPRIATE INTERVALS, SPECIFICALLY STATING "OUR DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF THE WEARING OF THE TIRES WERE DUE TO THE RECALL ITEM AS THERE WAS NO SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION INDICATING THE PROPER MAINTENANCE ON THE TIRES". I DO NOT BELIEVE MOST PEOPLE KEEP RECORDS OF EVERY OIL CHANGE / TIRE ROTATION THEY HAVE DONE, BUT THE WEAR WAS VERY CONSISTENT WITH WHAT WOULD BE EXPECTED FOR BALL JOINT ISSUES. FURTHERMORE THE CAR HAD BEEN INSPECTED BY THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, AND NO UNEVEN WEAR WAS FOUND AT THAT TIME, GIVING FURTHER INDICATION THAT THE UNEVEN WEAR WAS LINKED TO THE BALL JOINT / TIRE ROD ISSUE. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT OCCUR ONE DAY EARLIER WHILE TOWING A BOAT ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY DISABLED SON, THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN A MULTI FATALITY ACCIDENT. I HAVE LITERALLY HAD NIGHTMARES OVER THIS POSSIBILITY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

IN ADDITION, BOTH FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARERS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO BOTH FRONT TIRES AND TWO SET OF TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100.

WAS DRIVING ON NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD, HEADING TOWARD A STATE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN A LARGE BOOM OCCURRED AND I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF THE CAR AND WENT UP THE CURB AND ONTO THE SIDEWALK. I THOUGHT I'D BLOWN A TIRE BUT GOT OUT AND SAW THE ENTIRE WHEEL WAS DISCONNECTED - THE SUSPENSION RUINED. AS I WAS TURNING RIGHT TO EXIT A PARKING LOT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF MY 2008 MAZDA CX-9 AND I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL OR MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD. I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED IT AND OBSERVED THAT MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS MISALIGNED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I DISCOVERED METAL SHAVINGS AND A LARGE METAL OBJECT HANGING DOWN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE, APPEARING TO BLOCK THE TIRE RIM. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO A MECHANIC, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TWO LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
A VERY FRIGHTENING INCIDENT OCCURRED SATURDAY AUGUST 29, 2015 APPROX 6:45 P.M. AFTER A ROUND TRIP TRAVEL ON THE HIGHWAY FOR APPROX 80 MILES. I DROVE JUST OVER A MILE OFF THE HIGHWAY EXIT, CAME TO A STOP SIGN LIGHT THEN PROCEEDED WITH A RIGHT TURN. SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS WARNING THE CAR MADE A JERKING/SKIDDING TYPE MOVEMENT, SOMETHING SEEMED TO DROP OUT OF THE FRONT END AND THE CAR CAME ABRUPTLY TO A STOP. SEVERAL PEOPLE PULLED OVER TO SEE IF I AND MY ONE MONTH OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WERE OK AS I WAS AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. A BYSTANDER TOLD ME THAT THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE WAS FACING OUT TO THE LEFT OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE UNDER THE CAR AS WELL. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE BALL JOINT SEPARATED, THE SHAFT OR AXLE MAY HAVE BROKEN, AND THERE MAY BE OTHER SEVERE DAMAGE AS THERE WAS ALSO OIL ON THE ROAD. MY TIRE WAS AS MENTIONED. IT IS ALSO NOTED THAT I AM UNABLE TO COMPLETELY OPEN MY DRIVERS DOOR DOOR NOW POSSIBLY DUE TO BODY MISALIGNMENT NOW. I HAVE PICTURES OF ANY VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR. I AM APPALLED AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM THAT MAZDA WILL BE CONDUCTING A RECALL IN SEPTEMBER BUT HAS YET TO SEND OUT NOTICES TO CUSTOMERS. IN FACT A SECOND NOTICE WILL EVENTUALLY COME OUT WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. HAD I NOT JUST COME OFF THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY FLIPPED OVER AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS 1000% UNACCEPTABLE. I WANT ACTION NOW. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE IS TO THE CAR, NOR DO I WANT THE CAR REPAIRED, INSTEAD I WANT MAZDA TO REPLACE IT! THIS IS A 2008 CX-9 GRAND TOURING AWD THAT WAS GOING NORTHBOUND ON INDIANA HIGHWAY 31 AND THEN MADE A U-TURN TO GO SOUTHBOUND. AS THE CAR SPEED GOT UP TO 35MPH GOING SOUTHBOUND, THERE WAS A SUDDEN JERK AND LOUD NOISE AND IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND FELT LIKE IT WAS DRAGGING ON SOMETHING. THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY THERE WASN'T ANY OTHER CARS OR TRAFFIC AROUND US AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. WHEN I GOT OUT TO INSPECT THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS TURNED OUTWARD AT A 90 DEG ANGLE AND THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS COMPLETELY DETACHED. THE CAR WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED.

LUCKILY THE ROARING SOUND WAS NOTICED AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MR TIRE IN TIME BEFORE THE WHEEL FELL OFF. FRONT TIRE WEAR WAS ALSO EXTREMELY UNEVEN AND TIRES WERE REPLACED. NOW IN SUMMER 2015 A CREAKING NOISE WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS AND HARD TURNS RESULTED IN THE DISCOVERY THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL BEARINGS WERE LOOSE/HAD TOO MUCH PLAY, AND WE REPLACED THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS, SWAYBAR LINKS AND BUSHINGS, AND A BROKEN REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT. MAZDA DEALER SUGGESTS THESE ARE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUES. IT FEELS LIKE THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS NOT DESIGNED TO MANAGE THE WEIGHT OF THE CAR AND NORMAL CITY/BUMPY/POTHOLE DRIVING.

I KEPT THE DAMAGED LF LOWER CONTROL ARM FOR PROOF AND CAN SEND TWO PICTURES I TOOK. I WANT TO STRESS THAT 5 DAYS EARLIER, I DROVE THE MAZDA TO OCEAN CITY, A THREE HOUR DRIVE. HAD THE BALL JOINT BROKEN DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING - MY WHOLE FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. ON 06 JUNE 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 MY WIFE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. NEAR THE END OF THE TURN THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL BROKE LOOSE TURNING NEARLY 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND JAMMED ITSELF INTO THE REAR OF THE FENDER WELL. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY IMMOBILIZED AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT HAD FAILED AND BROKE COMPLETELY FREE. THIS CAUSED THE WHEEL TO TURN NEARLY 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY RIPPED OUT THE CV AXLE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTROL ARM/BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY, THE CV SHAFT, AND SWAY BAR LINK WAS REPLACED. THERE IS ALSO FENDER WELL AND BODY DAMAGE THAT WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. ON 10 JULY 2015, I NOTICED AN UNUSUAL INSTABILITY WHILE NEGOTIATING WIDE TURNS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE HAD A WHEEL LOOSE. WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABRUPTLY TURN EVEN SHARPER TO RIGHT ALMOST CAUSING AN UNINTENTIONAL LANE CHANGE. AFTER COMING OUT OF THE TURN I COULD FEEL THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CORRECT ITSELF. ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY RESIDENCE I JACKED UP THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT THE FRONT WHEELS. THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL SEEMED NORMAL (WAS REPAIRED IN JUNE 2015 AS MENTIONED ABOVE). MUCH TO MY DISMAY WHEN INSPECTING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL, I DISCOVERED THAT THE BALL JOINT ON THIS SIDE IS NOW BROKE. IT IS NOT SEPARATED, BUT IS CLEARLY BROKEN AS EVIDENCED BY THE EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT AND CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MOVING THE WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE AS IT IS SUSPENDED ABOVE THE GROUND FROM THE CAR BEING ON A JACK. I WILL BE HAVING THIS REPAIRED THIS WEEK ONCE PARTS ARRIVE FROM THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALER. BOTTOM LINE: I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

WHEN MAKING A U-TURN (LEFT TURN) AT UNDER 10 MPH THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND IT SHUTTERED TO A STOP. I CALLED MY HUSBAND AND WAITED FOR HIM TO ARRIVE. WHEN HE ARRIVED, HE (AND THE POLICE) ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE. HE WALKED AROUND THE CAR AND OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER WHEEL WAS TURNED OUT AND RESTING AGAINST THE FENDER. THIS EXPOSED THE SUSPENSION AND HE SAW THE BALL JOINT AND SUSPENSION HAD BROKEN LOOSE. THE BALL JOINT HAD RIPPED OUT FROM ITS HOUSING AND THE SUSPENSION BAR HAD BROKEN APART AT THE WHEEL. THERE WERE PARTS ON THE GROUND ALONG WITH GREY FLUID WHICH WAS COMING OUT FROM THE HOLE LEFT BY THE BALL JOINT COUPLING. THE FENDER WAS ALSO DAMAGED BY THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE POLICE OFFICER NOTED THAT WE WERE LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT WOULD HAVE LIKELY ENDED UP FLIPPING THE CAR AS IT WAS SUCH A SEVERE FAILURE. IT TOOK THE TOW-TRUCK OPERATOR OVER 20 MINUTES TO GET HE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK AS THE WHEEL COULD NOT BE STEERED DUE TO THE FAILURES.

THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WHEN NEW, AND WHERE WE ALWAYS HAVE IT SERVICED . THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD SAID THE AXLE BROKE AND WE WERE LUCKY IT DID NOT OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY 15 MINUTES SOONER. THE DEALER REPLACED A LEFT BROKEN BALL JOINT, AXLE AND CONTROL ARM, AS WELL AS BROKEN FENDER LININGS AND MOLDINGS. THIS COST US OVER $2000. WE HAD COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE ABOUT A NOISE WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE TOLD WE ONLY NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. I NOW BELIEVE THE DEALER DID NOT PROPERLY INSPECT THE BALL JOINT, WHICH WAS ALREADY DAMAGED AND FAILING. TWELVE MONTHS AFTER THIS INCIDENT THE LEFT CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. AND EIGHT MONTHS AFTER THAT THE DRIVESHAFT, TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION ALL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT, COSTING US ANOTHER $5000 IN REPAIRS. I AM SUSPICIOUS THAT ALL OF THESE FAILURES MAY BE RELATED TO THE INITIAL INCIDENT WHEN MY CX-9 SKIDDED TO THE SUDDEN STOP ON THE LEFT BROKEN AXLE. BUT WHEN I CONTACTED MAZDA REGARDING ALL OF THESE ISSUES MY CASE WAS COMPLETELY DISMISSED AS THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 100,000 MILES AND WAS OUT OF WARRANTY COVERAGE. I HAVE NEVER SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT UNTIL I FOUND OUT THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION INTO 2008 CX-9'S WITH BROKEN BALL JOINTS, EXACTLY AS WHAT OCCURRED IN MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED AT OUR DEALER, AND I REALLY DO NOT BELIEVE THE BALL JOINT SHOULD HAVE BROKEN AS IT DID. I AM GRATEFUL WE WERE NOT TRAVELING 60 MPH. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS MAZDA VEHICLE.

THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A NON-DEALER SERVICE FACILITY, WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT FRONT BALL JOINT HAD BROKEN. THE BALL JOINT, AXLE AND SWAY BAR LINK WERE REPLACED. THE NEXT WEEK, I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE SERVICE FACILITY, AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SAME REPAIRS WERE NEEDED ON THE RIGHT FRONT, AS WELL AS REPLACEMENT OF THE TIE ROD ENDS ON THE LEFT FRONT. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THESE REPAIRS, I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER FOR A FULL ("USED CAR") INSPECTION. I MENTIONED THE REPAIRS I'D HAD DONE, AND THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH BALL JOINTS ON CX-9S. I HAD BEEN TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY (70 MPH) NOT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE BALL JOINT BROKE. I HATE TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD BROKEN AT THAT SPEED.

WENT TO DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY STATED THAT WE NEEDED TO REPLACE OUR LOWER BALL JOINTS, CONTROL ARMS, TIE ROD ENDS AND SWAY BAR LINKS BECAUSE NHTSB HAS BEEN RECEIVING COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2008 MAZDA CX-9S CRASHING DUE TO THESE ITEMS FAILING. THE DEALERSHIP BROUGHT IT OUR ATTENTION THAT DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, WE NEEDED THOSE ITEMS REPLACED. THEY SCARED US TO DEATH. WE SPEND $1,125 TO REPLACE THE ITEMS. I NOW HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THEY WERE CORRECT, THERE HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC CASES WHERE THE CARS CRASHED DUE TO THE SUSPENSION PARTS FAILING. I SURE HOPE THAT NHTSB MOVES FORWARD AND MAKES MAZDA PERFORM A RECALL. HOPEFULLY I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK FROM PAYING FOR THIS SERVICE. WHILE DRIVING WENT TO MAKE RIGHT TURN TO HAVE CAR SERVICED FOR UNKNOWN CLICKING WHEN I WOULD ONLY MAKE RIGHT TURNS. WHEN TURNING INTO PARKING LOT I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND AUTO WAS IMMOBILE AT THAT POINT. I EXITED AND FOUND LEFT FRONT TIRE TURNED SIDEWAYS. I HAD VARIOUS DAMAGE TO LEFT FRONT WHEEL AREA HAVING TO REPLACE BALL JOINT, LOWER CONTROL ARM, BENT AXLE AND RIM DAMAGE. I WAS ALSO INFORM FROM IRWIN MAZDA THAT RIGHT BALL JOINT HAD ISSUES AND I ALSO HAD THAT REPLACED.

I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A PARKING LOT ONTO A ROAD WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN A LOUD CRUNCH HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE JERKED LEFT WHILE STILL MOVING FORWARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OR BREAK. THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND I COULDN'T GET THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN. I WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND NOTICED LOOSE PARTS THAT HAD BEEN EJECTED FROM THE WHEEL, LEAKING BREAK FLUID, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED AND HAD WEDGED UNDER THE CAR. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE MOVED OUT OF THE ROAD THUS CREATING A TRAFFIC JAM. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN AND THAT MY GIRLS AND I ARE LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MAZDA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT 4 DAYS AGO AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS COVERED UNDER TREAD LIABILITY LAWS? I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE CAR/WHEEL THAT WERE TAKEN AT THE SCENE IF NEEDED.

WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING PLACE, THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT BROKE AND CV JOINT BECAME DISCONNECTED, CAUSING THE WHEEL TO BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE CAR AND PUSHING THE WHEEL WELL BACK UNDER THE PASSENGER DOOR, MAKING IT INOPERABLE. THE TOW DRIVER SAID I MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING REALLY HARD, BUT IN THE TWO AND A HALF YEARS I'VE HAD THIS CAR, I'VE NEVER HIT ANYTHING! I DRIVE A LOT FOR MY JOB AND AM GRATEFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND HAS SHAKEN MY CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS, BUT THE MECHANIC TOLD ME WHILE THE OTHER BALL JOINT WAS SAFE ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE THE TRIP HOME (350 MILES), I SHOULD DEFINITELY GET IT CHECKED OUT AS WELL, AS IT LOOKED SUSPECT FOR THE LONG TERM. I HAD BEEN HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE IN MY CAR WHEN I WENT TO MAKE LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURNS FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK. AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC INVESTIGATE HE TOOK A LOOK AT THE BALL JOINTS, THEY ARE 'NON-SERVICEABLE,' WHICH MEANS THEY ARE A SEALED UNIT. HE SAID FROM WHAT HE COULD TELL THEY WERE FINE. LATER THAT DAY I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. MY WHEELS WERE SPINNING IN THE SNOW, I GOT OUT AND TOOK A LOOK AND MY FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS OFF! THE BALL JOINT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED THE CAR. THE ONLY THING SECURING THE WHEEL TO THE CAR WAS THE TIE ROD. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO MY GARAGE BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE (ONE PER SIDE) ALONG WITH THE CV JOINT. THEY WERE REPLACED WITH MAZDA PARTS. INSPECTION ON THE PASSENGER RIGHT SIDE REVEALED THERE WAS BARELY ANY GREASE IN THAT BALL JOINT. I HAD LUCK ON MY SIDE THAT DAY OTHERWISE I AM CERTAIN SOMEONE WOULD HAVE DIED. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT WAS SEEPAGE DUE TO BEING OVER FILLED AT THE FACTORY, BUT IF YOU WIPE OFF THE EXCESS FILM THE FLUID CONTINUES TO FORM. SEEPAGE OR LEAKAGE, DOESN'T MATTER IT SHOULDN'T DO EITHER ESPECIALLY ON THE FRONT OF A VEHICLE. THE BUSINESS WHERE I HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND TIRES ROTATED HAVE CHECKED THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS STATING THE PROBLEM IS LEAKING NOT SEEPING. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CALLED THE MAZDA FIELD REPRESENTATIVE FOR THIS AREA AND THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND STILL MAINTAIN IT'S SEEPING BECAUSE OF BEING OVERFILLED AT FACTORY.
