My rear subframe rusted thru and has holes in it. It is too dangerous to drive and mazda won't recall the rear like the front subframe knowing that a lot of people are suffering from the same issue. A subframe should last a long time. My mechanic inspected the car and feels like it's not safe to drive.
The front and rear crossmembers have significant rust. The front has holes and chunks of metal missing due to rust corrosion. The rear has flaking and is deeply pockmarked with rust. These are structural components. Failure can lead to a crash.
2009 Mazda 6 Rear subframe and springs are deemed unsafe due to extreme rusting and corrosion. The vehicle is registered and has been registered in both NY and PA (salt states), however was regularly washed and garage maintained. Vehicle will no longer pass inspection due to this issue and Mazda indicates no recall for the rear at this time and is ignoring that this is a highly prevalent issue. Mazda recalled and acknowledged this issue on these makes/models related to the front; however refuses to acknowledge and repair/recall the issue extending to the rear. The vehicle is in otherwise good shape, and the extreme rusting to the subframe/springs is not consistent with normal wear and tear. This is an extremely prevalent issue arising to these vehicles being ignored by Mazda. Mechanics are indicating the issue is extremely deteriorated and not safe, but that the vehicle is in otherwise good shape and the issue is consistent with faulty parts.
I have a 2009 Mazda 6, the subframe/engine cradle has completely rusted out on the right side causing the lower control arm to detach from the frame while I was driving almost causing a accident luckily I was driving slow at the time. There was a recall for this exact issue, I contacted Mazda and they have no open recalls and can not help me
"What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?" - Rear subframe. Total rust through due to improper steel alloy and insufficient paint. Same as happened for the front subframe. Front subframe was recalled as 2818I (Mazda's number) and 19V-323, 18V-631 (NHTSA numbers). NHTSA should also mandate rear subframe be recalled. "How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?" - Total catastrophic structural failure of rear suspension. Would result in a total loss of control while driving. This would likely lead to a severe, possibly fatal accident at-speed. "Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?" - As reported by independent service center. "Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?" - no, this exact vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer. Manufacturer is doubtless aware of the issue. A cursory google search leads to dozens of identical cases. "Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear?" - there were no warnings of the failure prior to discovery by service center.
I took my car to the mechanic for some routine maintenance and they called to tell me they discovered that the rear subframe is completely corroded. They say the car is not safe to drive, as it could come apart at any moment, and it will cost so much to repair (current estimate is $8000 and still climbing!) that it may be better for me to buy a new car (which I cannot afford). The mechanic expressed shock at how badly the subframe has deteriorated. He said it is in much worse shape than the rest of the car, which I have always maintained carefully. In 2019 my car was recalled for a defective front cross-member, which the dealer replaced. I was told at the time that it was recalled because the coating applied to it was defective and did not protect the part from corrosion. Based on my research, it seems that the same defective coating was applied to the rear subframe, and that it is why it has rusted so quickly and severely. I see that the NHTSA is already aware of this issue - [XXX] . The exact problem I am having is described in [XXX] : "Mazda6 owners told NHTSA there was severe corrosion of the right rear subframes that caused the steering rack mounting bolts to fail." It is completely unacceptable that Mazda replaced the defective part in the front but has not replaced the similarly defective part in the rear, which has failed for the same reason. I am furious that this has made my beloved car, which is otherwise in very good shape and runs beautifully, undriveable. * Drivers side (worst) and passenger side rear lower control arm. Both are available for inspection upon request. * The drivers side rear lower control arm rusted through and cracked near the point where it connects to the rear subframe. The right lower control arm did not yet visibly crack (it's still on the vehicle), but it is also severely rusted. If driven and either completely separated, loss of control as well as flying debris on the road would have been nearly certain. * I cannot drive the car to a dealer or service center. The problem is visibly obvious and online owners forums anecdotally indicate the problem is widespread. * The component is available for inspection. I have shown my mechanic and intend to take to a dealer. Because there was no accident or injury, thankfully, I have no cause for engaging police or insurance. * There was no warning/indicator in the vehicle. The first symptom of trouble was severe wear on the inside of the left rear tire. The vehicle then had a four-wheel alignment and suspension components were noted to be tight and adjusted into spec at that point. Some weeks later, we heard disturbing noises from the rear as we went over even small bumps in the road. We noticed the suspicious sound during a local drive and drove gently and directly home, so cannot say how much the partial break may have affected control at that point. Upon inspection, the rusted & cracked steel of the driver's side control arm was readily visible. Other notes: The rear subframe itself shows significant flaking and rust in comparison to the rest of the vehicle's undercarriage, but at least there appears to be more substance left to the metal of the subframe. I own a 2009 mazda 6 witch is my only vehicle I had tooken it to a mechanic shop due to noise comming from the front and rear of the car under farther investigation I was notified by the mechanic that the entire front and rear subframes were badly rotted and rusty i than took the car to a mazda dealer for further inspection we’re I was notified that they would replace the front sub frame under recall but I would still have to pay out of pocket for all the other suspension components long story short I was given an estimate of thousands n thousands of dollars that I could not afford and was told the car is unsafe to drive mainly due to the rear subframe and components bein severely rusted I would just like to know why there hasent been a recall for the rear subframe on this vehicle when there has been hundreds of other complaints about the same thing I’m goin through about the same year make and model vehicle so now I am out of a vehicle due to it bein unsafe to drive that could cost me my job
The contact owns a 2009 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal squealing sound coming from the front of the vehicle while turning, also while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered corrosion and a hole on the front passenger’s side suspension cross member. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer who confirmed the diagnosis and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V631000 (Suspension, Structure). There was a recall for the front K-frame (Sub-frame) due to excessive corrosion. However the rear also has the same issue and loses structural integrity because of it. The rear control arms can snap through the frame where they are mounted, resulting in an increased likelihood of losing control.
MY DASHBOARD (CRASH PAD) ON MY PASSENGER SIDE OVER MY AIRBAG IS MELTING AND CRACKING CAUSING ME TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. MAZDA CLAIMS THAT RECALL ENDED IN MARCH OF 2019 BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY MAZDA OF THIS RECALL THEREFORE I FEEL IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED FOR MY SAFETY. THE CRASH PAD BECOMES STICKY, MELTS AND CRACKS THE DASHBOARD. MY VEHICLE IS STILL IN OPERATION AND THEREFORE MY SAFTEY IS STILL IMPORTANT

THIS VEHICLE HAD THE FRONT SUB-FRAME REPLACED BASED ON NHTSA COMPLAINT 11100333 AND THE SUBSEQUENT RECALL FROM MAZDA WITH NHTSA ID 18V-631. IT IS NOW TWO YEARS LATER AND THE REAR SUB-FRAME WAS SO ROTTED THAT IT WAS FALLING APART. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS THE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION WITHOUT IT BEING FIXED. IT WAS REPAIRED BY A NON-DEALER MECHANIC IN FEB 2020. THE MECHANIC TRIED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET A NEW REAR SUB-FRAME BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE IT IS ON MANUFACTURER BACK-ORDER. SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I NEEDED IT TO BE FIXED ASAP, A USED SUB-FRAME HAD TO BE INSTALLED. BECAUSE THE NEW PART WAS UNAVAILABLE THIS MAKES ME THINK THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND. I WAS TOLD BY A MAZDA DEALER THAT THE REAR SUB-FRAME IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SAME RECALL AS THE FRONT. BOTH ITEMS WERE MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME TIME USING THE SAME INFERIOR STEEL SO I THINK THIS SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED. WHILE PULLING DOWN MY STREET AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR THAT WAS NOT NORMAL. IT WAS MORE EVIDENT GOING OVER BUMPS. MY CAR WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE ANYWAY SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND ASKED THEM TO INVESTIGATE. THE REAR CROSS MEMBER IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING A NEARLY CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE RIGHT REAR SECTION, INCLUDING A PIECE THAT RUSTED OFF AND IS FLOATING WITHIN THE SPRING. MAZDA DID ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY ISSUE, BUT IT ONLY COVERS THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER, WHICH IS ABSURD. I CALLED MAZDA TO CONFIRM THAT THE RECALL DOESN'T APPLY TO THE REAR, AND JOSE, THE REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE TO BY PHONE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT DOES NOT. I AM IN A RUST BELT STATE, AND IF SALT CAN AFFECT THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER, OBVIOUSLY IT CAN AFFECT THE REAR IN THE SAME NEGATIVE FASHION. JUST BECAUSE THE REAR DOESN'T TURN THE CAR, DOESN'T MEAN IT POSES LESS OF A DANGER AS EVIDENCED BY MY VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON ROCHESTER RD IN TRAFFIC WHEN I HAD TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AND BRAKE FOR AND AMBULANCE HEADING MY WAY, I HEARD SOMETHING BREAK IN THE FRONT END AND UPON TRYING TO RESUME MY POSITION IN MY LANE MY CAR WOULD NOT STEER AND IN ORDER TO KEEP MY WHEELS STRAIGHT I HAD TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE CAR LEFT. I THOUGHT I HAD A TIRE GOING DOWN SO I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY TIRES AND FOUND NOTHING SO I GOT BACK IN MY CAR AND MADE A TURN BACK ON THE ROAD AND I KNEW RIGHT AWAY SOMETHING WAS TERRIBLY WRONG AS IT FELT LIKE I WAS ON A SHEET OF ICE. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. UPON INSPECTION AT MY REPAIR SHOP THEY FOUND MY SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED OUT.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, I HAD TO BRAKE AND REALIZED I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK WHEN RELEASING CLUTCH WHEN I HAD TO USE IT. IN FACT, I HAD THE UNDER BODY RUST PROOFED WHEN I PURCHASED IN 2009. I HAD TO REMOVE THE CAR FROM THE ROAD AS IT WAS UNDRIVABLE. THE SUBFRAME ON MY 2009 MAZDA6 HAS BEEN NOTICEABLY RUSTING OVER THE YEARS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A MAZDA DEALER AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER. OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR, MID 2016 TO MID 2017, MY MECHANIC HAD BECOME INCREASINGLY CONCERNED WITH THE CONSEQUENCES THAT WOULD COME FROM THE SUBFRAME RUST AND SUGGESTED WE START DOCUMENTING AND REFERRING THE PROBLEM TO MAZDA. THE MECHANIC'S CONCERN WAS RELATED TO THE DECREASE IN STRENGTH OF THE SUBFRAME AND ITS ABILITY TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE ENGINE WEIGHT. HIS FEAR WAS THAT THE ENGINE WOULD DROP OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR ONTO THE ROAD AFTER GOING OVER A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY. THE MAZDA6 WAS BROUGHT INTO A MAZDA DEALER IN MARCH AND JUNE OF 2017 FOR SERVICE RELATED TO BRAKE LIGHT AND TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL. THE PROBLEM WITH THE RUSTED SUBFRAME WAS IDENTIFIED BY THE SERVICE MECHANIC DURING THE SECOND VISIT, JUNE 1, 2017, AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTED ON THE SERVICE TICKET "SUBFRAME ROTTED" AND "CAR IS NOT SAFE"(ATTACHED). THE PROBLEM WAS ALSO DIRECTED TO MAZDA ON THEIR ON-LINE COMPLAINT SERVICE. THE ORIGINAL TEXT TO MAZDA IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM ME AS THIS WAS AN ON-LINE FORM AS THIS ONE IS. THE RESPONSE FROM MAZDA (ATTACHED) WAS THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE SUBFRAME RUST PROBLEM AND THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT COVER THE SUBFRAME RUST PROBLEM. IT IS UNIMAGINABLE TO ME OR ANYONE THAT I HAVE PRESENTED THIS ISSUE TOO, THAT A CAR WITH DAILY USE AND TYPICAL MILEAGE WOULD HAVE A SUBFRAME THAT IS RESULTS IN A VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE AFTER ONLY 7-8 YEARS.

UPON HAVING THE RECALLED PART CORRECTED THE DEALERSHIP WORKER INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE FRONT SUB FRAME WHICH IS A COSTLY REPAIR. THE FOLLOWING DAY I DROVE MY CAR TO THE NEAREST GARAGE, AND TO MY SURPRISE, THE GUY TOLD ME THAT THE SUBFRAME AT THE RIGHT NEAR TO THE WHEEL IS COMPLETELY CORRODED AND THE STEERING RACK WAS SEPARATED FROM ITS MOUNTS CAUSING THE STEERING LOSS. THE GARAGE OWNER TOLD THAT HE CALLED MAZDA TO ASK FOR A NEW SUBFRAME FOR ME, BUT THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK AND THEY HAVE ALREADY 5 MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WAITING FOR THAT. KNOWING THAT I DO RUST CHECK AND TREATMENT BEFORE EVERY WINTER. I AM VERY THANKFUL TO GOD THAT NOTHING BAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY DURING OUR HOLIDAYS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY HAD BEEN SEEING AND THAT THE PART IS BACKORDERED MONTHS. THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS MOSTLY RUST FREE EXCEPT FOR THE SUBFRAME.

IT HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SCENE. IF THIS SUB-FRAME HAD BROKEN APART 5 MINUTES LATER I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON I-90 NEXT TO SEMI TRUCKS. TWO PEOPLE IN THE CAR COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED, ENDANGERING OTHER MOTORISTS AS WELL. THERE IS NO RUST-THROUGH ON THE BODY OF THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED. IT HAS ABOUT 85,000 MILES. I CALLED MAZDA THEY SAID THERE'S NO RECALL FOR SUB-FRAME RUST/DETERIORATION. THIS IS THE FOURTH MAZDA OUR FAMILY HAS PURCHASED. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND DESCRIPTIONS OF THE 2009 MAZDA 6 LOSING DIRECTIONAL STABILITY BECAUSE THE FRONT SUB-FRAME HAD COLLAPSED DUE TO PREMATURE RUST DISINTEGRATION. I ALSO SEE THAT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL: 2009 MAZDA 6 WAS RECALLED IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. NHTSA NEEDS TO HAVE THIS RECALL ENACTED TO PROTECT AMERICAN LIVES AS WELL.

MECHANIC GOT IT ON A LIFT AND SHOWED ME THE TIE RODS WEREN'T THE PROBLEM, IT WAS THE FACT THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME WAS SO ROTTED THAT THE TIE RODS WEREN'T ATTACHED TO IT ANYMORE, THEY WERE JUST FREE FLOATING. MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACE ASAP. AFTER REMOVING THE ROTTED SUBFRAME, IT WAS OBVIOUS TO SEE THAT THE LARGE AMOUNT OF RUST THAT HAD FORMED WAS DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE A/C WASTE WATER PORT. IT'S JUST A PLASTIC OPENING STICKING OUT OF THE FIREWALL, SO ALL THE WASTE WATER IS DRIPPING/POURING DOWN FROM THE OPENING AND ENDS UP SITTING ON THE SUBFRAME AND CAUSING RUST. THERE IS ALSO AN INTENTIONAL HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME RIGHT BELOW THE WASTE WATER PORT, SO THE WATER ALSO GETS INTO THE FRAME AND TRAVELS DOWN ITS LENGTH TO SPREAD OUT ALL THE RUST AND CORROSION. I HAD TO BUY SOME HOSE CLAMPS AND A PLASTIC ELBOW AND SOME VINYL TUBING TO DIRECT THE WASTE WATER DOWN BELOW MY BRAND NEW SUBFRAME SO THAT I DON'T END UP RUSTING IT OUT AS WELL.

CURRENTLY MY CAR IS STATIONARY, UNSAFE TO DRIVE, IN A REPAIR SHOP. THE FRONT SUBFRAME ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS COMPLETELY ROTTEN TO THE CORE. ALL PARTS ATTACHED (SUSPENSION, WHEEL, ETC.) TO THE FRAME ARE FALLING OFF. THE ROTTEN PART IS CHIPPING AWAY. MY CAR WAS MAKING A CLANKING, BANGING NOISE (I BELIEVED THE MUFFLER OR SOMETHING WAS LOOSE) SO I TOWED IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, THE MANAGER SAID SHE HAD BAD NEWS, LORD AND BEHOLD, SHE TELLS AND SHOWS ME THE FRAME. I COULD HAVE PASSED OUT. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT. TO MAKE IT WORST IS THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. MY CAR IS NOT REPAIRED, MAZDA DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE ISSUE WHICH IS NOT SAFE, AND MAZDA DOES NOT WHAT TO HELP WITH THE EXPENSE. NHTSA, THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MAZDA 6 2009 MODELS; A LOT OF CUSTOMERS HAVE IDENTIFIED THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY. THE SUBFRAME OF MY 2009 MAZDA6 COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT FROM THE INSIDE AND THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN DURING NORMAL USE. ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 2ND, A MAZDA DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY ROTORS, PADS, AND NOTICED THE CAR WAS PULLING TO ONE SIDE SO THEY CORRECTED THE ALIGNMENT. DURING THIS TIME THEY IDENTIFIED A NORMAL LEVEL OF RUST ON THE SUBFRAME BUT WAS NOT CONCERNED BY ANY OTHER SIGNS OF FAILURE. LESS THAN 10 MILES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE SUBFRAME CRACKED, MY FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL CV AXIL DISCONNECTED AND THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE. THANKFULLY I WAS GOING ONLY 35 MPH, DOWN A STRAIGHT, PAVED CITY ROAD, AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I FEAR THAT AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE CAR WOULD HAVE GONE OFF ROAD OR WORSE FOR WHEN THE SUBFRAME BROKE THE CAR JERKED HEAVILY TO THE RIGHT THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED. I BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDED QUALITY SERVICE AND DUE TO THE TYPE OF PHYSICAL FAILURE OF ROTTING FROM THE INSIDE THE DANGER IT POSED TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN THE CAR WAS HIDDEN. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMS ME THAT THERE IS A BACKORDER (400ISH) FOR THE PART AND THAT PARTS MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. SEARCHING ONLINE THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY SIMILAR CASES REPORTED WITH MODELS AROUND THIS TIMEFRAME. DUE TO THE TYPE OF FAILURE, NUMBER OF SIMILAR CASES, AGE OF THE CAR, TYPE OF USE, I AM SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL.

AT THIS POINT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REGISTERING STRAIGHT' WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREES LEFT. SOMEHOW AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 15 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAS A SERVICE HISTORY FOR AN EMERGENCY SERVICE INSPECTION. A TEST DRIVE WITH A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SUPPORTED THE OWNER'S COMPLAINTS OF A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN WITH RIGHT TURNS CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT 'GRINDING'/METALLIC DRAGGING SOUND AS IF THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT UNDER-SIDE WAS CONTACTING THE GROUND. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE IN THE LIFT THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THERE WAS FRONT PASSENGER FRAME METAL CORROSION WHICH WAS BREAKING OFF IN CHUNKS. THE DEALERSHIP VOICED AWARENESS OF ANOTHER 2009 MAZDA6 WITH SIMILAR MILES (APPROXIMATELY 15,000 FEWER) HAVING NEARLY THE SAME ISSUE LAST FALL/WINTER. THE VEHICLE IN THIS REPORT HAS APPROXIMATELY 189,000 PRIMARILY HIGHWAY MILES AND IS OTHERWISE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR ITS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL. ON THE MOST RECENT OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, THEY SAID THAT THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER ENGINE CRADLE HAD SEVERE CORROSION AND RUSTED THROUGH. IF THE REPAIR IS NOT DONE AND THE WHEN, NOT IF, THE PART FAILS THE ENGINE MAY FALL OUT OF THE CAR AND THE FRONT TIRES WILL FAIL TO STEER. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY LIABILITY! A CRUCIAL COMPONENT TO SUPPORT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE CAR SHOULD NOT RUST AND FAIL ON A CAR THAT HAS LESS THAN 7,000 MILES DRIVEN PER YEAR.

THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THAT THE RUST/ROT WAS SO BAD THAT THE MOUNT POINT FOR THE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY NO LONGER ATTACHES TO THE SUB-FRAME.

FURTHER INVESTIGATION TO CONNECTIONS OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM REVEALED SIGNIFICANT CORROSION AND SEPARATION OF WELDED STEEL ON THE ENGINE CRADLE(ALSO KNOWN AS FRONT SUB FRAME/FRONT CROSS MEMBER/FRONT K-FRAME) CORROSION WEAKENED THE CROSSMEMBER SUFFICIENTLY TO ALLOW NORMAL EVERYDAY DRIVING TO BEND THE CROSSMEMBER AND CREATED THE OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CAMBER ISSUE. CONTINUING TO DRIVE IN THIS STATE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BREAKING THE CROSSMEMBER COMPLETELY AND LIKELY AT A TIME WHEN SIGNIFICANT BREAKING WOULD BE REQUIRED. WITH THE WHEEL OUT OF ALIGNMENT ACCELERATION/BREAKING AND STEERING ARE ALL AFFECTED DUE TO THE LIMITED TRACTION FROM MISALIGNMENT. WET WEATHER DRIVING CONTROL IS ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPAIRED.

EACH TIME THEY SAID THE DOOR LATCH WAS FAULTY AND SETTING IT OFF. I HAVE HAD 3 DOOR LATCHES REPLACED WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING DONE ON 5/2015. IN AUGUST 2016, THE HORN STARTED ACTIVATING RANDOMLY AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY FOUND "CODES" ON THE 3 DOOR LATCHES THAT WERE ALREADY REPLACED! CLEARLY THERE IS A DEFECT SOMEWHERE WITH THE DOOR LOCKS OR ITS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THIS POSES A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD AS A CHILD CAN OPEN THE DOOR LOCK AND FALL OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IF THE LOCK IS NOT WORKING.

THE BUTTON WAS NON-RESPONSIVE AND SYMPTOMS ONLY WORSENED AS TIME WENT BY. THE CONSUMER WENT TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND A DIAGNOSTICS TEST REVEALED THE FAULTY DOOR HANDLE WAS THE REASON FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE RECALL. I HAVE A 2009 MAZDA 6 S TOURING WITH 18000 MILES ON IT AND THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY ON CAME LOOSE AND FELL OUT. THESE SCREWS SHOULD OF BEEN LOCKED TIGHTENED IN PLACE AND IT SEEMS THAT ALL THE LATCH SCREWS ON THE CAR WERE NOT SECURED NOT TO WORK LOOSE. *TR. ..UPDATED 04/18/13 *BF

2009 MAZDA ISPORT HAS GONE THROUGH TWO COMPLETE SETS OF BRAKES, ROTORS, AND PADS AND IT ONLY HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY INCONSISTENT WHEN APPLIED. SOMETIMES IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SOMETIMES IT ONLY TRAVELS A SMALL DISTANCE. IT'S MUCH WORSE WHEN THE DSC IS ENGAGED. *TR
