While driving the car on [XXX] at 9pm on sunday, [XXX] in lane two during a heavy rain a audible clicking noise came from the drivers side front of the dash instrument cluster area and all of the lights on the car simultaneously turned off without ever touching the light switch i was unable to see the road in front of the vehicle also the windshield wipers quit working and the radio and navigation display went off and closed and opened and closed( turned off and then on and off again) the instrument cluster went dark as well, luckily i was able to turn the steering and apply the brakes and steer the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road and come to a complete stop after several attempts to turn the headlights back on i determined that the vehicle was not safe to drive , and had the vehicle towed to a reputable mechanic, and upon diagnosis he contacted me and stated that the drivers side front signal acquisition module A. K. A. the (sam) module had failed due to water intrusion into the fuse panel sam module area , the mechanic stated that i should file an incident /complaint form with your office , upon searching the MERCEDES BENZ forums and sites on the www i found many customers with a broad range of models (w204)approximately this same year model have identical complaints and nothing has been done by MB usa to remedy the problem, i believe this matter to be a major safety concern and i am wondering why this matter hasnt been taken into consideration by your agency and by MB usa as a safety recall to replace the failing modules and retrofit the fuse panel sam module area to prevent water intrusion thats causing the obvious safety concern and possible liability on the part of the MB/ DAIMLER corporation. it seems this is clearly a problem and it needs fixed we are terrified to drive the vehicle for fear of a repeat incident. Check Right Tail and Brake Lamps warning light will not go off for months. They are working fine but the light won't go off. Googling on MB World, it shows Mercedes is aware of this problem and a recall is needed to get it corrected being safety issue with warning lights not working properly. See all info. below from owners, conversations and work done by dealers, etc. People note it is a middle school education problem. Please alert me when the recall is confirmed to get this important problem fixed. I drove my car to get lunch. Came back out to go back to work and the car would not start. Would not even turn over. My Radio did not turn on and I couldn't even roll my windows back up. Luckily they were only cracked open a small amount. My steering wheel cannot be turned, it's locked in it's current position. I am told the ESL (Electronic Steering Lock) and possibly the EIS is the cause of this problem. The display on the dash says "Take your key from ignition" and that is all I get. Had to have my car towed and now I have a dead car with the windows partially open that I cannot close.
Headlight harness on drivers and passenger side is melting and my lights are flickering. I was advised to night drive my vehicle at night, because it could start an electrical fire. This is caused by heat from the lights.
The contact owns a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated while driving and activating the turn signals, the taillights were inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and depressing the brake pedal to come to a stop, the brake lights were significantly dimmed except for the third brake light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V177000 (Exterior Lighting); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Last week just before Thanksgiving my car of 134,000 miles wouldn't start. Had it towed to my mechanic only to find out like so many others that the Electronic Steering Module(ESL) is 1,500.00 defective. Yet with this being a common issue there is no recall. guess I'm going to a Toyota.
i was driving in the highway 50 mph and i was braking and my car slipped in the other line of the highway and almost had and accident !!!! and cars switched off when driving almost had incident!!!! i saw that many people have the say problem like me about rusted component please do something because people are losing their lifes.
While driving and when parked the headlights flicker on and off. I have no headlights while driving at night, during adverse weather conditions and during dawn hours. I could crash into other drivers, or they could crash into me because they can’t see me. When a parking bulb blows it fuses and melts everything together causing the replacement of the entire headlight unit, this has happened twice.

Rear passenger tail light housing melted together the connector/ harness to the housing. Limiting the power to the light bulbs and or blowing them before they should be burnt out or not working at all periodically. Effectively limiting the safety of having the brake light or parking lights or even the blinker work like they're supposed too
MY VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY GIVES ME WARNING/ALERT MESSAGES OF HEADLIGHT/SIGNAL/PARKING LAMP ISSUES. UPON INSPECTION AND TAKEN TO CERTIFIED, RELIABLE MERCEDES REPAIR SHOPS, LIGHTS ARE FULLY FUNCTIONING, YET ALERTS CONTINUE ON MY DISPLAY/DASH. MORE IMPORTANTLY THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (ESL) HAS FAILED ON MORE THAN ONCE COSTING VERY CONSIDRABLE AMOUNTS OF REPAIR BILLS, AND IT HAS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING, I PARKED THE CAR WHICH HAS BEEN PERFECTLY MAINTAINED AND WITH LOW MILEAGE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS, MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO EVEN HAVE IT TOWED TO BE REPAIRED.

CAR WAS PARKED BY SIDE WALK NEXT TO MY HOUSE. INSERTED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED IT. THE CAR DID NOT START, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. NO LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED ON TRUCK BED SINCE IT'S REAR-WHEEL DRIVE. DEALER TOLD ME IT'S THE IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER. COST $1500 TO FIX. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. NOT FAIR.

EIS STEERING LOCK BATTERY FAIL. $12 BATTERY DIES AND EIS STAYS IN LOCK POSITION KEY DOESN'T RESPOND TO IGNITION SWITCH OR CAR UNLOCKING DOORS.
TURNED IGNITION KEY TO START VEHICLE. NOTHING HAPPENED. NO CRANKING OR CLICKING. COMPLETE SILENCE. STEERING WHEEL AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WERE BOTH LOCKED INTO POSITION AND COULD NOT BE MOVED EVEN THOUGH IGNITION WAS IN THE 'ON' POSITION. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH A DEFECT IN THE 'ELECTRICAL IGNITION SYSTEM/ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (EIS/ESL)' AND IS THE SUBJECT OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS CONDITION OCCURRED ON ONE PREVIOUS OCCASION WITHIN THE LAST 45 DAYS. ON BOTH OCCASIONS VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY HOWEVER IF IT WERE OCCUR WHILE MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK AND DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED AND WIDELY KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BEAR THE COST OF CORRECTING (AT THE CURRENT TIME VEHICLE OWNERS ARE CHARGED BETWEEN $1200-$1700 TO PERFORM THE DEFECT CORRECTION OUTLINED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN). *TR

MY C300 STRANDED ME IN DEMING, NM. WE HAD LEFT EL PASO HEADING HOME TO PHOENIX. QUICK BIO BREAK IN DEMENT, AND THAT'S WHERE MY C300 WOULDN'T START. THE SHOP IN DEMING SAID THAT THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER IN EL PASO. TURNED OUT MY STEERING COLUMN CONTROL LOCK MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED THE PART AND TWO DAY AND $1,400 LATER I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO PHOENIX. BETWEEN TOWING, LODGING IN DEMING AND EL PASO, MEALS, ETC I WAS OUT OVER 2K. THIS IS SO I CAN START MY CAR. ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL MB DEALER MY SERVICE ADVISOR SAID HE SEES ONE OR TWO A MONTH WITH THIS PROBLEM. I PICKED UP THE CAR IN 2012 WITH 50K MILES. THIS ISSUE CAME 70K TROUBLE FREE MILES LATER. AMAZED THAT ONE LITTLE PART COULD STRAND ME WITH NO WARNING.

"TAKATA RECALL" WHEN I WAS DRIVING AFTER A OIL CHANGE, I HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HIT MY CAR. I WAS SCARED AND SHAKY SO I PULLED OVER COULD SEE ANYTHING BUT I HEARD A TICKING NOISE. THEN I REALIZED THE HEAD REST MINI AIR BAG BLEW UP AND THE WIRING INSIDE THE HEAD REST WAS BURNING. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I COULD HAVE GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO PULL OVER RIGHT WHERE ALL THE TRAFFIC WAS BECAUSE MY HANDS WERE SHAKING AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE BURNING SMELL. I HAD MY HAZARDS ON AND PEOPLE WENT AROUND ME. THEN ALL KINDS OF ALERTS WENT OFF ON MY CAR. I ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF IT SHOULDN'T DO THAT. SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG AND THIS IS DANGEROUS WHILE SOMEONE IS DRIVING. MY TIRES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE MUFFLER IS MAKING NOISES NOW TOO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR. IT'S TREATED WELL I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW. I'M STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON IT. IGNITION SWITCH FAILED AT 92,000 MILES. CAR WAS WORKING FINE AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN ONCE PARKED. DASH LIGHTS & RADIO TURNED ON, BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. HORN DID NOT WORK AND GEARS WOULD NOT SHIFT WITH KEY TURNED ON START POSITION. HAD TO GET CAR TOWED AND COST $1,400 TO FIX. ASIDE FROM THIS, I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, CAR COMPUTER, VALVE COVER, AND AIR FLOW SENSOR. CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ALSO WENT OUT, AL WITHIN A 4 MONTH PERIOD.

MY VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO THESE RECALLS AND NO REMEDY HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR ALL. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THESE RECALLS FIXED, BUT I AM TOLD THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL, NO REMEDY HAS BEEN PROVIDED AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO ADDRESS THE RECALLS - MEANWHILE, I AM AT RISK EVERY TIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AND CONTINUE TO RECEIVE NOTICES ABOUT HOW DANGEROUS THIS RECALL CAN BE, LIFE THREATENING. NOW TAKATA IS FILING BANKRUPTCY AND IT HAS BEEN YEARS SINCE THE RECALLS WERE ISSUED - WHY IS THERE NO REMEDY AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS? NO DEALERSHIP WILL ADDRESS THE ISSUES, IT IN JUST AN ON GOING, NEVER ENDING GAME. THIS 2009 C300 WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE FL AS A RETIREMENT GIFT FOR 20 YEARS OF NAVAL SERVICE. ABOUT A YEAR LATER I NOTICED THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS CONTINUOUSLY BLINKING DURING THE DAY. THE NEXT PROBLEM IS WITH THE FRONT HEADLIGHT UNITS EACH TIME A BLUBS BLOWS, IT FUSES EVERYTHING INCLUDING WIRES TOGETHER REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT UNIT. HERE IS WHAT I EXPERIENCED 1.PUT KEY INTO IGNITION, STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T UNLOCK. 2.INSTUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYS "REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION". 3.TURN KEY TO ACCESSORY, NO LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD, ONLY THE RADIO WORKS, WINDOWS DON'T WORK. 4.TURN KEY ALL THE WAY TO START CAR, NOTHING HAPPENS.

IT SAID TO REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION. MY CAR WOULDN'T START. MY HUSBAND AND I CONTACTED MERCEDES BENZ OF HENDERSON AND THEY HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THEIR SHOP. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH MY VEHICLE SO I WAS SURE I WOULD BE OK. ON MONDAY I RECEIVED AND CALL FROM MERCEDES BENZ OF HENDERSON STATING THAT THE IGNITION LOCK MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY I PURCHASED. SINCE I AM NOT A MECHANIC I ASKED WHAT THE IGNITION LOCK MODULE WAS AND FOUND OUT IT WAS THE COMPUTER THAT READS MY KEY AND PREVENTS THEFT. BASICALLY THE COMPUTER FAILED AND THINKS THAT MY CAR IS STOLEN. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS IS OVER $1,000. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR. MERCEDES CARS ARE NOT CHEAP NOT TO MENTION PAYING MORE A MONTH TO HAVE ADDITIONAL WARRANTY COVERAGE. I AM APPALLED THAT MERCEDES HAS NOT DONE A RECALL ON THEIR VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR THOSE WHO ARE TRAVELING ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE LIKE MYSELF A WOMEN TRAVELING ALONE. STEERING LOCK IGNITION ASSEMBLY. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OR INDICATIONS THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WAS GOING TO OCCUR. THANKFULLY I REACHED MY DESTINATION, BACKED UP IN MY YARD AND PARKED. I APROACHED MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I WANTED TO FILL UP FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK, I UNLOCKED MY DOOR, PLACED MY KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE RADIO WORKED AND ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. I TOOK THE KEY OUT AND WENT TO USE THE SPARE KEY, INSERTED IT AND WHILE THE DOOR WAS OPENED THE DISPLAY TOLD ME TO REMOVE THE KEY. THIS COULD PRESENT A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR A FEMALE WITH CHILDREN IN AN UNFAMILIAR SETTING. AFTER READING UP ABOUT THE PROBLEM I SEE THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN MY TROUBLES. SO I INQUIRED ON HOW LONG THIS WOULD BE COVERED FOR? I WAS TOLD ITS ELECTRICAL AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME, IT'S LIKE A CELLPHONE OR A COMPUTER. YET THOSE HAVE WARRANTIES AGAINST ISSUES LIKE THAT WHEREAS SOMETHING I PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DOES NOT. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THIS AND CONTINUE TO RIP CONSUMERS OFF. HE SAID THAT WITH 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING FOR MERCEDES THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WHERE THE VEHICLE WONT RECOGNIZE THE KEY, LOCKING THE STEERING AND CUTTING OFF THE ENGINE POWER TO START UP. HE CONTACTED MERCEDES FOR A TOWING TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THIS HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY AND HAVE TO WAIT TIL MONDAY FOR RESULTS. VEHICLE HAS 79,000 MILES ODOMETER READING. I CAME TO A STOP BECAUSE MY CAR WAS GIVING ME ERROR CODES FOR CERTAIN PARTS OF THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHTS NOT WORKING(TURN& REVERSE) AND THEN THE FUNCTIONING LIGHTS WERE DIMMED. I TOOK A LOOK AT THE ASSEMBLY WHERE THE LIGHTS WERE PLACED AND NOTICED WHERE THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE PLUGGED IN TO THE BULB ASSEMBLY THAT IT BURNED THROUGH THE ASSEMBLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE RIGHT SIDE BUT NEGLECTED TO CHECK THE LEFT BECAUSE AT THE TIME IT WAS NOT MALFUNCTIONING (AT THAT TIME I WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY). NOW, ON MARCH 8, 2015 (MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY) I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL MBUSA BECAUSE THE LEFT SIDE IS NOW BEGINNING TO ACT ERRATICALLY, AND ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO BURNING (YET) I WOULD LIKE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I CHECKED THE BULBS WHICH WERE GIVING ME ERRORS AND NONE OF THE BULBS WERE BURNED OUT. I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE HOME AND PARKED AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY LONGER AS THE IGNITION SWITCH ALSO CONTROLS THE STEERING LOCK AND THERE EXIST THE POSSIBILITY OF THE STEERING BECOMING LOCKED WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, AS SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE POSTED AS HAPPENING TO THEM. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (ESL) FAILURE TYPICALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER EXPIRATION OF THE BASIC WARRANTY. JUST LIKE THE THOUSANDS OF MB C300 OWNERS STUCK IN THIS SITUATION, I NEED MY VEHICLE AND HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SHELL OUT THE MONEY FOR THIS REPAIR! (OVER $1,000). THEY RECOMMENDED TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, AS THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I DID THIS AND WAS TOLD BY MERCEDES BENZ OF ST. CHARLES IL THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE MELTED'AND THAT THE PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WORK WAS DONE AT THE ST. CHARLES IL DEALER AROUND NOVEMBER OF 2011 AND WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NAPERVILLE IL MERCEDES DEALER ABOUT A MONTH AGO BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT. I WAS EXPECTING TO HAVE A QUICK LIGHT CHANGE AND PAY AROUND $20. I WAS INSTEAD TOLD THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRES LEADING TO THE BRAKE LIGHT HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND THAT THE WIRES WERE MELTED. I WAS TOLD THAT IF A NEW BULB WERE PUT IT, IT WOULD JUST SHORT OUT AGAIN. I WAS THEN GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR OVER $500 FOR THIS REPAIR, AS MY CAR HAD RUN OFF THE WARRANTY A WEEK EARLIER. I HAVE NOT YET HAD THIS REPAIR DONE, AS IT IS COSTLY. HAD IT TOWED TO MERCEDES SHOP. THERE I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING COLUMN. STEERING LOCK HAS ELECTRIC FAULT IS WHAT WAS STATED TO ME FOR A PRICE OF $1700.+ TO BE REPAIRED. THIS IS THE THIRD ELECTRICAL PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. I'VE HAD THE LEFT AND RIGHT WIRING REPAIRED, THE LEFT ONE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE RIGHT ONE WASN'T. THE WIRING WAS ACTUALLY BURNT. YESTERDAY (10/27/2013) I HAD TO CHANGE OUT MY REAR RIGHT SIDE BRAKE LAMP, WHICH I SUCCESSFULLY DID RIGHT AFTER I SAW THE MESSAGE POP UP ON MY DASHBOARD. I THEN OPENED MY TRUNK AND CHECKED IT OUT, AND NOTICED THAT THE FAR LEFT SIDE WIRE OF THE CONNECTOR CONNECTING TO THE BULB HOUSING WAS BURNED LUCKILY IT DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE. I TRIED TO TAKE IT OFF BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO AT THE MOMENT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT OUT AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS. THERE WAS A HORRIBLE SMELL COMING FROM IT AND I TRIED TO CLEAN OUT ALL THE GUNK IN THE CONNECTOR BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO. THEY REPLACED THE UNIT AND THE WIRING, BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. THEY THOUGHT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL, BUT AFTER CHECKING THEIR COMPUTER, THEY DID NOT SAY THAT IT WAS RECALLED, SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. NOW THE REAR LEFT LIGHTS ARE MUCH DIMMER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THAT I HAVE THAT REPLACED AS WELL, BUT ONCE AGAIN AT MY COST. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS HAVING A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE OPERATED, NOR REPAIRED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN AN AUTHORIZED MERCEDES DEALERSHIP. I OPENED THE ENCLOSURE TO CHANGE THE BULBS THINKING THEY WERE BURNT OUT AND FOUND THE WIRE HARNESS AS WELL AS THE BULB DOCK HAD MELTED BECAUSE OF OVERHEATING. A FUSE DID NOT BLOW AND THE CARS COMPUTER NEVER GAVE ANY INDICATION OF THIS ISSUE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE SYSTEM COULD ACTUALLY CATCH ON FIRE AND IT IS IN THE TRUNK AND NOT FAR FROM THE GAS TANK. AFTER RESEARCHING ON MB WORLD THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM AND FLAW. MY CAR COMPUTER WAS SHOWING A MESSAGE THAT THE RIGHT REAR SIGNAL LIGHT, FOG LIGHT NEEDED TO BE CHECKED. MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE BULBS AND THE MESSAGE WAS STILL THERE. THESE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER OPERATING PROPERLY. TOOK THE CAR FOR SCHEDULED SERVICE AND BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE MECHANIC AT A MERCEDES BENZ DEALER/AUTO SERVICE. HE TOLD MY DAUGHTER THAT HE REMOVED THE ACCESS PANEL AND FOUND THAT THE CONNECTOR TO A BULB CARRIER, WIRE HARNESS AND BULB CARRIER WERE MELTED DUE TO A SHORT AT THE GROUND WIRE OF THE 7 PIN CONNECTOR. I CALLED THE SERVICE MGR HE COULD NOT TELL ME OR EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED OR ITS CAUSE. DISAPPOINTED BY HIS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPLANATION OF THE CAUSE, I CONTACTED MBUSA. AT FIRST THE PERSON THAT ANSWERED TRIED TO BRUSH ME OFF " THIS CAN HAPPEN". WHEN I INSISTED FOR A BETTER ANSWER OR EXPLANATION SHE REFERRED ME TO A "[XXX]"1-800-367-6372 EXT.[XXX]. WHO STATED THAT SHE WOULD SPEAK TO OTHER TECHNICAL PEOPLE AND GET BACK TO ME. WHEN SHE GOT BACK TO ME, IT WAS BASICALLY SHE WAS GOING TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MGR. AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT SERVICED MY CAR.HE CALLED ME ON 2/01/12 NOT CLARIFYING THE CAUSE,JUST RE-ITERATED WHAT HE HAD PREVIOUSLY STATED. I CALL [XXX] WHO SIMPLY STATED THAT THIS HAS NEVER BEEN REPORTED BEFORE, BUT IT CAN HAPPEN, AND STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD GIVE ME A $200.00 DISCOUNT AT THE NEXT SERVICE DATE. I WANTED AN EXPLANATION OF THE CAUSE, COULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, COULD THIS LEAD TO FURTHER MELTING, THAT COULD LEAD TO A FIRE, A BIGGER SHORTAGE, AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD BY THE MGR. AT DEALERSHIP, HE CANNOT FORESEE THE FUTURE AND HE COULD NOT PREDICT IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT A DEFECTIVE PART IS NOT A MAJOR ISSUE.NO ONE OFFERED TO LOOK FURTHER INTO THE DEFECTIVE PART AND TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT REALLY HAPPEN. AT 5:00PM, I WAS DRIVING THE MERCEDES BENZ C300, YEAR 2009, 9010 MILES IN THE PARKING LOT OF YMCA IN LA CANADA, CA AT 3 MILES/HR. I PREPARED TO STOP THE CAR AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE REV UP AND ACCELERATED. THE CAR JUMPED OVER THE STOP BUMPER BUT I PRESSED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND FINALLY THE CAR STOPPED AND THE ENGINE WAS OFF. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ABOUT 2 FEET FROM THE WALL AT THE PARKING LOT. I WAS SO SCARED BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I WENT TO THE GYM AND AT 6:30PM I DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME, IT IS ABOUT 6 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. I REALLY FEEL UNSAFE WITH MY ALMOST BRAND NEW MB. I'LL TAKE OFF FOR WORK NEXT MONDAY AND WILL TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR CHECKING. I WAS LUCKY THIS TIME WITH NO DAMAGE OR INJURY BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY IN THE PARKING LOT AND READY TO STOP.
