Got a car from the dealer soon weeks after the rear subframe was so corroded alignment was able to get done and was snapped on both sides airbag light came on doesn’t go away and the rear right brake like started using the fog light as a turn signal
The contact owns a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel locked. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was scanned, and diagnostic trouble codes indicating the TRP and Power Steering failure were retrieved. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and required to be towed. An unknown local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle remained parked in the storage. The contact related the failure to an unidentified recall; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

For the 2010 Mercedes Benz C300, the failure of the steering lock control unit resulted in the vehicle being unable to start its engine. Vehicle was disabled, and I was left stranded. Car had to be towed to my house and separately had to be towed to the Mercedes Benz car dealership service center. The technician at the Mercedes Benz car dealership service center recommended replacement of the steering lock. Yes, this car is available for inspection upon request. This same problem was reproduced in another Mercedes-Benz C300 car that I own. This other vehicle is a 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300. The car was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. The car was inspected by the Mercedes Benz dealer service center. No warnings or messages prior to the complete failure. This issue first appeared in August 2024. This steering lock failure is a critical issue as I had the same problem with another Mercedes Benz C300 that I own. Both steering lock failures for both cars resulted in the car being unable to start occurred around the same time period and were separately diagnosed and fixed at different Mercedes Benz dealer service centers.
Rusted rear sub frame that needs to be replaced. Premature rusting that Mercedes needs to repair at no cost. Also, premature battery drain on new battery. Needs to be fixed by Mercedes at no cost.
Power Seat Button Failed.
My husband drove my car home from work on April 18th 2022 and it was a bad rain storm that everyone. He had to drive through a couple of big rain storms. Soon afterwards he got around the corner from the house and the electric system failed lights started going off everywhere in the car, he lost steering and couldn’t see and almost crashed and got the car home safely but it wouldn’t shut off so he had to disconnect the battery for the car to shut off. On April 22 nd the car was towed to the dealership because it wasn’t driveable and they check out the car and discovered water under the carpeting of the drivers seat near the wiring of the car. I submitted an insurance claim and an adjuster went out to see the damage and his thought is that it’s due to a known problem for this car that’s been reported by many people with this same vehicle. The Mercedes Benz c300- 2010-2014 years. I checked online and apparently many people have reported this same issue water underneath the car due to bad firewall manufacturered not sealed correctly which could be a manufacturers/ safety issue. My husband was almost killed thank goodness he made it home safe that night. I believe there are many people that have had this issue and someone needs to be done for safety purposes, and I believe the insurance doesn’t want to cover the repairs because they are blaming Mercedes’ Benz. My cars been in the shop a month and I still have no answer from State Farm or the shop Mercedes Benz.
After parking my car , turned ignition off, did some work for 45 minutes I came back attempting to start the car. The car won’t start, I am not hearing any of the normal sound that usually takes place when I place the key in ignition. Message on dashboard telling me to remove the key. Car will not start. After checking battery and calling mechanic they tell me the my steering wheel lock is bad. The ESL went bad out of nowhere. Car won’t start, steering wheel is locked and the only way to fix it is to take it Mercedes’ dealer and pay over $2000. I search on google and found out that this is a common issue with my 2010 C300. This is a manufacturing defect and Mercedes should recall it and pay for repair. In my case I parked my car in my garage, imagine if I was traveling on highway way and the steering wheel locks or failed on the side of busy interstate hwy. the worst part is that Mercedes dealer did nothing t warn me when I bought the car about this issue especially since it is know since 2008, and they will not allow after market parts to be installed by other mechanics. So this is defective and Mercedes should be forced to recall and replace for free. We should not wait for someone to die before this is fixed. This happened without any warning PLEASE FORCE MERCEDES TO RECALL AND FIX THE ESL NOW.
During maintenance of vehicle, completely bare wires were discovered. While researching replacement options, I became aware that this is a known issue ignored by the manufacturer and that no cost effective solution exists. This is a car my son has recently purchased on his own and I am assisting in the maintenance of this "German Engineering Turd" You would have thought they learned a lesson on arrogance from the past.

I STARTED RESEARCHING AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE REFERENCES TO BOTH THE ESI AND/OR ESL FAILURES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MERCEDES BENZ AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS MOTORIST ARE LEFT STRANDED UNLESS TOWED.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION OR IF THE OEM PART WOULD FAIL AGAIN, IF REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID THAT I NEED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND GET MY EIS SYSTEM REPLACED AND A STEERING COLUMN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I DROVE 500 MILES FROM CHICAGO TO MISSISSAUGA, ONT. CANADA. TRIP WAS UNEVENTFUL. THE DAY AFTER I DROVE THE CAR TO A HONDA CAR DEALERSHIP , IRONICALLY, TO LOOK FOR A CAR FOR A RELATIVE AND PARKED. RETURNING ONE HOUR LATER I WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS WITH THE REMOTE BUT WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR THE RADIO WENT DEAD. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP 7 KILOMETERS AWAY. THE PROGRAMMED PART HAD TO BE ORDERED SO IT TOOK TWO BUSINESS DAYS TO GET MY CAR BACK AT A COST OF $1071US. IT WAS TROUBLING TO REFLECT ON THE POSSIBILITY THAT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED ON ONE OF THE REST AREAS I STOPPED AT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ALONG THE ROUTE. UNABLE TO EASILY REMOVE WIRING & PINS, I DECIDED TO SEARCH INTERNET FOR GUIDANCE ON REPLACEMENT (BEFORE CUTTING WIRES) AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL WEBSITES RECITING OTHERS HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH OVERHEATING OF THE GROUND WIRE CONNECTION AND THAT A RECALL INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN STARTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE LIGHT FAILED DUE TO A MELTED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

ALL BULBS ON THE RIGHT SIDE TAIL LIGHT ARE NOT WORKING, THAT INCLUDES BRAKE LIGHT, REVERSE LIGHT, AND SIGNAL LIGHT. I THOUGHT THE BULBS WERE OUT BUT WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE THE BULBS THEY WERE ALL FINE. WHAT I DID NOTICED WAS THE BROWN WIRE WAS BURNT AND SO WAS THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE WIRES TOGETHER, IT SEEMED LIKE THAT ENTIRE SIDE WAS BURNT AND EVEN MELTED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. I SPOKE TO ONE OF MY MECHANIC FRIENDS WHO SUGGESTED I BRING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AND HE ALSO ADVISED ME TO DISCONNECT THE WIRES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AS THIS COULD CAUSE A POTENTIAL FIRE. SINCE I'M PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD (50,000 MILES) I'M NOT SURE HOW I'M GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, IT MAY BE PRETTY COSTLY AND I'M NOT SURE WHERE TO START. WARNING LIGHT ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROMPTED "CHECK LEFT TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHT". I CHECKED ALL THE BULBS, THEY WERE ALL FUNCTIONING EXCEPT FOR 1 OR TWO DIM BULBS IN THE LEFT TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. I UNPLUGGED THE CONNECTOR/HARNESS TO THE ASSEMBLY AND FOUND ONE OF THE WIRE INSERT CONNECTORS TO BE MELTED IN THE PLASTIC CONNECTOR, THE MELTING AFFECTED THE PLASTIC AS WELL. I AM WORRIED FOR A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD IN MY TRUNK COMPARTMENT. CONTACTED MERCEDES FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. *TR

APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY 2 MONTHS WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WILL COME ON WITH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE PARKING/BRAKE LIGHT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, I HAVE TO TURN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THEN BACK OFF, TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS. ON ONE OCCASION, I OBSERVED THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT AND THE REAR PASSENGER LIGHT FLICKERING LIKE A STROBE LIGHT, BEFORE I TURNED THE SWITCH ON THEN OFF. *TR

HAS MELTED AND IS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. THE ENTIRE LIGHT IS OUT AND I GET WARNING MESSAGES ON THE DASH ABOUT THE PROBLEM. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT EVERYONE ELSE WITH THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AS ME ARE HAVING. I WAS DRIVING DOWN RT 70 IN MARLTON, NJ ON MONDAY MAY 7, 2012 WHEN EVERY LIGHTS IN MY CAR LIT UP. I THEN TOOK IT TO MERCEDES AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00 P.M. I SAT THERE WAITING FOR THEM TO TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING ON. I DECIDED AT 1:50 TO FIND OUT AND I WAS TOLD BY MY SERVICE TECH DAN SWUWEK THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THAT HE DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD BE TO FIX IT. I HAD TO GET A RENTAL. HE CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND INDICATED THAT A PART WAS ORDERED. I THEN CALLED HIM BACK LATER IN THE DAY WHEN HE SAID THAT IT WAS NOT THE PART THAT THEY THOUGHT IT WAS. ANOTHER DAY PASSED AND I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THEY WOULD BE CONTACTING MERCEDES FOR HELP. I ALSO CONTACTED THEM AS WELL BECAUSE I WANTED TO BE SURE THAT IT WAS DOCUMENTED. THE NEXT DAY THEY FIGURED IT OUT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD TO GO OUT OF TOWN AND DID NOT RETURN UNTIL MONDAY MAY 14, 2012 AT WHICH TIME I WAS CONTACTED BY DAN FROM MERCEDES INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP. THIS IS THE THIRD MERCEDES I HAVE LEASED. MY FIRST ONE WAS THE ML350 WHICH HAD AN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HEATING SYSTEM. MY SECOND ONE WAS A C300 WHICH HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND NAVIGATION. THIS IS MY THIRD AND LAST ONE HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE NAVIGATIONS FOR WHICH THEY KEPT TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. HOWEVER IT TOOK MY TOOK MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD WHEN TRYING TO ENTER DESTINATION INFORMATION SO IT WAS BASICALLY NOT FUNCTIONING FOR MANY MONTHS. NOW WITH THIS NEW PROBLEM THE ECU ISSUES, I HOPE IT GETS ME THROUGH THE NEXT 6 MONTHS SO I CAN TURN THIS IN AND NEVER GET ANOTHER MERCEDES AGAIN.THEY GAVE ME A RENTAL, CHARGED ME $3.00 PER DAY, KEEP MY CAR FOR A WEEK.
